I have such a deeply rooted hatred for certain aesthetics that I really do adore, like angelcore and coquette fashion, but my main issue (series of many, I do assure you.) Is that....why are they all white girls? And also, why do some of them romanticize harmful things like grooming or (situationally) being attracted to older people? (Example: a pinterest post I once saw while looking for pictures that said "Real girls like the teacher" and the accompanied picture was a reenactment of Nabokov's Lolita) A book that ISN'T and should NEVER be romantic?) I also dislike how coquette seems to be so...closely tied with Pro-Ana and E/D, to the point I've seen plus sized people being relentlessly bullied on Instagram, or Tiktok, when the "chosen demographic" for said fashion is evidently skinny white girls that don't actually understand the weight of harmful things like grooming, coercion and outright manipulation and think it's attractive. It's so concerning, and a little irritating, seeing things like how you're supposed to be small and dainty, almost child-like in order to "fit into" that aesthetic. Please stop romanticizing the psychological horror book about a pedophile, PLEASE.
