GETTING INTO GUILTY GEAR

so. you've heard about arcsystemworks Video's Game through the grape vine somehow. heres a fun little guide on how to get into it. first i'll go with the more accessible route:

LORE

this is the easiest part, in part thanks to arcsys actually putting effort towards the community to make it as digestible as possible!

the first thing to check out will be woolieversus' amazing heaven or hell series. as an officially endorsed AND reviewed video series by the writers themselves, this is the best way to learn about the games, as it goes through all little things like arcade modes in-game, external content from light novels or artbooks, and otherwise!

from here, you have a choice. after episode 4, he covers the story mode from guilty gear xrd: sign. however, you could also check out arcsys' guilty gear xrd: sign story mode playlist. this is a direct recording of the in-game story. while woolie summarizes it in 45 minutes, experiencing it for yourself may be more your style, if not a bit longer to put up with.

similarly, his xrd: revelator video, which covers arcade modes until 32:09, where he then covers the story mode, which has an official playlist here as an alternative. the final video also covers the ending of said story mode, and the extra stories added in revelator's dlc, which are also included in the playlist.

for guilty gear strive, you'll have to purchase the game itself OR find a youtube video to watch it's story mode, as arcsys has not posted that officially.

GAMES

if you're interested in PLAYING guilty gear, you've got three main options to go towards.

GUILTY GEAR XX ACCENT CORE PLUS R (yes, that's its real name.)

steam page ($14.99, goes on sale for as low as $2.99.)

the most recent version of the XX games, updated to use rollback netcode, and the last in the franchise to use 2d sprites. this game is THE classic anime fighter, in all the best and worst ways. movement and combos feel nearly unrestricted, but this also means the skill floor for understanding the game is incredibly difficult, especially with the lack of in-game tutorial, luckily, there's a reason its the fighting game community.

dustloop is the wiki for the gameplay side of arcsys games, guilty gear or otherwise, and WILL be your best friend. luckily, the wiki itself also has a starter guide specifically for new players to +r!

while the game has some of the craziest gameplay to come out of gear, due to its usually low price point, it also has a huge beginner playerbase, and if you look in the right places, you'll have a ton of people ready to get you on the right track.

GUILTY GEAR XRD: REV2 (fighting games had funny names for a while.)

steam page ($44.99, goes down to $11.99) it's confusing, but the one with all the characters is the third option down, "all-in-one (does not include optional DLCs). dont ask me.

this game is getting rollback soon! while as of writing this [october 16th 2022] it does not have it fully, a beta test is going to be run from the 17th to november 2nd.

xrd: rev2 (calling it xrd from here on) is if +r was streamlined but still allowed to keep some of its nonsense. it has one of the best tutorials in the fighting game business, teaching you through short minigames that allow you to understand movement, button layouts, and other basic fighting game ideas. even if you dont play the game with other people, the tutorial can help you understand gear in general, and fighting games as a whole! the game also has a wonderful 3d artstyle that mimics 2d animation impressively well, giving it a unique flair that no other game can compare to.

despite the online shortcomings, this is still my personal favorite gameplay wise. if you know some friends you can have a good connection with, or even better, someone to play offline with, this is a gem you shouldn't pass up. here's the dustloop page for the game.

GUILTY GEAR: STRIVE (did you know the name "strive" was chosen because it has IV, the roman numeral for 4, relating to it being the "fourth" guilty gear game?)

steam page ($39.99, $60 for the game and first season pass, $80 for all that and the still releasing season 2 pass!)

THIS is the one you've heard of. rollback netcode, beautiful 3d animation, and a much more simplified gameplay style in comparison to the rest of the franchise. as a first fighting game, i cannot recommend strive enough. while its tutorial is definitely lacking in comparison to xrd's, the overall feel of the game will ease you into fighting better and better opponents. strive is also currently one of, if not THE most popular fighting game currently, meaning there'll always be players online. with more content on the way including new characters and crossplay between playstation players!

while guilty gear is an absolutely massive franchise, with weird MOBA action game sequels, smash brothers spinoffs that are exclusive to the DS, and an almost 25 year old legacy, getting into it is easier than ever. so heaven or hell, let's rock.

Intro Post!💀🦇🕸🕯

Hey there! Figured I'd finally make one of these in case anyone who stumbles on this blog wonders what it's all about.

As it says in my blog description, this is an online space where I can compile and organize imagery, info, and anything else that inspires me related to the novel I'm developing. At least that was the original motivation for making this, but I'm definitely wanting to post some original content surrounding the story and the characters in it soon! This imaginary world has been obsessing me for a few years now, and I'm honestly chomping at the bit to share it with others.

What the novel's about:

It's [going to be] a gothic/dark fantasy/folk horror/historical fiction novel set in regency Britain and centering around the concept of Halloween and its origins/meaning. Think Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell meets Over the Garden Wall. Kinda. Characters include a bratty aspiring sorcerer, a demonic changeling who wants to be human, a witch, a sin eater, and a handsome devil. Over the course of the plot the question of whether the spirit realm(s) and mortal world should be kept separate will be a source of conflict.

I've had some aspects of this story/characters in my head since I was 14, so it's super special to me!

About me:

I'm an artist, writer, and musician. This is my first time trying to write anything as involved as a novel. I'm having loads of fun with it, though. I love music and reading and history, particularly fashion history, and anything related to the supernatural. The title of my blog is a reference to a song by Echo & the Bunnymen (though I think it's actually an inaccurate lyric :P ).

Infodumping time! :D :D :D :D

Okay, so it has been acknowledged on all fronts that OFMD does really well at dealing with a world steeped in colonialism, especially when it comes to Ed and his mum’s implicit backstory, Jim’s history and family background in St. Augustine, plus the various tidbits we get about Frenchie, Oluwande and Roach and the other one-episode characters like Abshir and the Arawak people.

Now let me explain why I also got so excited about the British characters we have in the show, entirely based in the context of colonialism and the British class system.

The show is set in 1717. By this point, Britain is the ‘united’ Kingdom with England having laid claim to Ireland and Wales for years and finally hooking Scotland with the Act of Union in 1707, after the disaster of the Darien Project - another story another day - utterly bankrupted Scotland.

In 1689, there was the Glorious Revolution, wherein William of Orange came over from the Netherlands (at the request of the mostly English aristocracy) and punted James II/VII (II of England, VII of Scotland) off the throne. Civil wars of various shapes and sizes happened for the next 40+ years, but especially in parts of Ireland and Scotland.

So let me tell you that when I realised this crew of pirates had both a Northern Irish and a working class Scots character in it? I screeched. Especially a Scots character using the Scots language, which never appears anywhere except Scots media? Not least because many, many pirates who were working in the Caribbean at that time were dispossessed Irish and Scotsmen, especially following the most recent Jacobite rising in 1715. (Also, speculation abounds that historical Stede was actually a Jacobite sympathiser since he named his second ship Royal James, but that’s another story for another day)

I’m not as familiar with the Irish history, but I know that with the plantation of Ulster in the 17th century, Irish Catholic families were forcibly displaced to make room for Protestant families from Britain, who got all the valuable/usable land, while the Irish Catholic population were taxed to the hilt and driven to live on poorer land plus the horrors of the church schooling system, where the kids were taken from their families to be assimilated.

Sound familiar? Ireland is where Britain honed its colonisation blade to the point that in 1745, the Scots nobles were calling it “the Irish system” when they decided it would be a useful thing to use to subdue “the superstitious savages” in the Highlands to turn everyone into only-English-speaking protestant automatons (Again, Buttons speaking Scots had me screeching! It doesn’t happen! Not in American shows! And yet!!!). It was later rolled out across the British empire.

So yes. This has been happening for centuries and one of the regular solutions to deal with people who were protesting against children being taken/all their food being taxed away/any vague sound of dissent or rumblings of ‘Papishness’ was cause for Banishment. The Good Old British solution to any problem in the 16th-18th century: kick them out the country to one of the countries that we need filled with white folk or enslave them in a plantation.

It’s very telling that in British politics, the insults that the London-based politicians used for each other were to call each other Irish bandits (Tory is apparently an English bastardisation of the Irish word “tóraidhe”, which means outlaw) and Scottish cow herder (likewise Whig was mockingly derived from “Chuig an bothar”, the call of the cattle drivers)

So within a historical context, Buttons and Wee John ending up in the Caribbean wouldn’t have been unusual. It was very common to the point that there was an entire Jacobite/anti-England faction of pirates in Nassau (ie. the Republic of Pirates). There’s also a reason that a lot of plantations ended up being owned by Scottish ex-aristocracy - many were stripped of lands/titles because of the Jacobite risings and ended up in the Caribbean (And made their fortunes, then bribed their way back to their titles because of course they did. Bastards).

I do wish we’d got more information about Ivan and his background. At the time the show is set, Britain was tromping over and around south Asia with the East Indian Trading Company (also known as the Giant Company of Thieving Bastards Here To Steal Your Cool Stuff) which had been spreading its influence throughout the region since the 1600s and by the 1700s, were the main European power in the area. There are records showing connections between south Asia and St. Helena in the Caribbean from as early as 1684, so it isn’t impossible that someone from the area that is now Pakistan couldn’t have ended up working on trading ships to the Caribbean.

And then we have Lucius and Izzy, our two white English crew.

I have so many feelings about the class subtext that is slathered all over the show and I need to mention that before I move on to the boys.

Stede is technically upper class because of his wealth but when you see him with any of the other English characters who are upper class by birth and breeding, he is seen as secondary to them. The way Badminton and his officers treat Stede demonstrates this. If he was the firstborn son of someone with any title/lineage and had inherited said title, there would be some level of class-bias and respect shown because one has to follow the social code. However, the son of a man who bought his way into land and respectability? PFFT. No.

When his father says “Mary has acreage” and tells Stede “you didn’t earn it”, it speaks measures: Bonnet Senior is new money with no property or title and is still angry about “rich boys”. He’s rich himself, yes, but he wasn’t born to it. He didn’t inherit it and he begrudges the fact his son will have it handed to him. (Take Antoinette’s comment to Siegfried on the party ship - “just inherit it like a normal person” - this is how the gentry talk about wealth)

Also, re. Stede not having an English accent, while his father does - I like the implication that Stede is first-gen colony baby. His dad came out to make a fortune, which is why he still has his English accent, but Stede was only in England for school, which is why he doesn’t have the accent.

So yis, in that line, Stede is upper class by property, but not by breeding. He’s “not some derelict. He has money” and that’s all that he had going for him. When he talks about the party he describes it as “posh knobs hob-nobbing with other posh nobs” and later tells Frenchie he never really fit in at those kind of dos. His father may be a land-owner, but that’s only a few steps above “tradesman” to the born-and-raised aristocracy.

Then we have Lucius. He’s absolutely not working class. At a guess, I’d say some kind of merchant level because his family would have had to be financially sound enough to afford to give him an education that involved calligraphy and have a reason for him to be able to read and write exceptionally well. One of the options is that he was trained up to be a clerk, someone who does all the writing and book-keeping.

And then we have Izzy. I can’t avoid the fact that Izzy’s social context is important because Con is famous in his field for playing working class northern characters. He’s won awards for it.

Before I start munching on this particular chew toy, a quick recap: for people unfamiliar with the British Isles, there is a big social divide between the north and south of England. North England was where so much of the big industry happened back in the day (mines, shipyards, factories, mills et al), while London and the south were seen as the political hubs.

When said industries went under, let’s just say it was the north that dealt with the brunt of it and are still dealing with the repercussions of decisions made by the governments in the south. (Yes, this is a quick and very generalised recap, but it’s 9am on a Sunday morning and I have no brain for getting into the collapse of the industrial revolution + the successive mess of stuff that followed)

So Izzy. Izzy is one of Con’s juicy working class northern lad creations. He’s not got much in life but he’s clawed his way into a position that should merit some respect and some appreciation. He has worked hard to get where he is and is determined to maintain what he has got.

And if we are to take his accent as we take Buttons and Wee John, he’s from Liverpool, which was becoming one of the biggest ports in England at the time on the north west coast of England. Because it expanded so rapidly from the late 1690s, the majority of people in the Liverpool area were probably working in/around/associated with the port.

My dad’s side of the family are northern (north-east, though) and working class and one thing I can very clearly remember about the older generations was that they thought hard work was the way to go because that was how things had always been done: you work hard, you get what you earn and you get on with it. Education was a luxury most people couldn’t afford because you had to work, because if you didn’t work, you didn’t eat. (I could also go on and on about how certain generations there thought reading made you “soft” but that’s a whole other kettle of fish)

Izzy really embodies that ethos, especially when he’s faced with a crew who don’t seem to even be doing the bare minimum of work. His hostility is understandable when he has been working his arse off and, in his own words, “barely ekeing by” while these people are acting like they’re on a holiday cruise. His comment on the library - the “perverse misuse of space” about something only rich people had access to - and pushing Lucius into doing some physical labour when Lucius is the equivalent of a secretary is Izzy expressing his frustrations with it all. This life is the one he knows and he knows how it’s meant to work but Stede has come along, saying “what if it wasn’t like that?” and Izzy isn’t a fan.

I know I’m probably reading a lot more into it than there really is there, but given how much David Jenkins has spoken about Con’s audition performance and development of the character shaping the scripts, I can’t help feel that it’s important, especially given how deftly they handled so many of the other aspects.

As promised, here’s my thoughts on the Sinclair Band!AU fanfic book!

This’ll be a mixture of two AU’s based off the lovely @arkunder's band!AU and the awesome @loveandmurders's Sinclair sister!AU (their writing for the sister sinclair is so fucking amazing! go read it!). This'll be a fun one, trust me, because I had to go over every little thing from both two blogs PLUS a kill count video on youtube over HoW. Yes, there will be murder in this, but it'll be fore the good!

For this to work, I can't use "y/n" but it'll take the story element away from the tale. Also I have a hard time writing in 'y/n' context. I'll be practicing on my spare time to make it better. Thank you understanding. I haven't can up with the sister's name yet, but it'll come to me soon.

ANYWAYS!

The story is going to be base around the idea that the Sinclair Brothers did have an adopted sister in their family from when she was 4 weeks old until she was 6-years-old when she was taken away for two reasons: Near drowning and Bo pushing her down the stairs in the Wax House (the big spiral one!). Because of her young age, she doesn't remember much, but the last thing she remembers is bring ripped out of her brothers' arms... no lie. Like she was RIPPED out of their arms.

This crushes Bo and Vincent, and this breaks Lester because they were really close. Trudy? She wanted the girl gone because raising four kids was a lot, and she needed a reason to get rid of the girl. I mean, she was leaning in the doorway with a cigarette in hands as she watched the madness of her sons fighting police officers for their little sister. Victor was inside reading over files for the hospital, not caring that his sons were being traumatized. You know? Dicks.

To add salt to the wound, there was a firer car crash months later, July 17th, the sister's 16th bithday. When Trudy learned that there was a bad crash, the daughter in it, by Bo's teacher. She takes this as a sick way to make her sons to "forget" her, and, that night, she faked a phone call from the "hospital" and she tells the boys that their sister died later at the hospital. Of course, this CRUSHES them. Bo doing some unhealthy coping skills, Vincent not wanting to touch wax for a while, and Lester is a shell of a kid. They lost her for the second time, and it's for good this time. The twins were 12 and Lester was 8.

Fast forward to now:

Sinclair-Voyance is in the Top 10 rock band with their second album being in top charts seven times in a row! World tours, traveling, meeting the Royals inf England! There's nothing that the three brothers can't do! Things are finally getting better, and they are rocking and vibing hardcore with nothing stopping them! The twins are 22 and Lester 18 (and he graduated high school on the honor role!). They are the youngest rockers to hit the rock world, and nothing will slow them down!

... until their manager has them performing on July 17th, the Cursed Date. Bo wants to cancel it because it's the day where all three of them fall apart, but Lester convenes them that it's a good thing and they should do it! But make it different from the rest of the concerts, Vincent reminds them.

It'll be an honorary concert for their baby sister, their favorite sibling. The concert will be a fundraiser for the Fire Rescue and Recovery, a charity for children who were harmed in fries and car crashes. The band has donated to them a couple of times, but this'll be different: it'll be in honor of their sister. Bo won't getting drunk on stage, Vincent showing his face, and Lester taking lead for some songs when emotions run heavy on Bo to still.

Bo swears he's the reason why they lost their sister, and July 17th is the one day of the year where Bo falls apart like a bullet through a car window. He blames himself. It's his fault. The weight he carries will never be understood by his brothers.

Vincent designs limited edition merch, Lester posts a lot about the concert along with telling stories about survivors that went through recovery with the charity, and Bo will perform at a talk show and promoting this a week before the concert, hoping that other bands will join this cause, too. Now, a Humble/Sober Bo is a very rare sight, and the rock world knows it, showing that this thing is the real deal.

WHILE THEY ARE DOING THAT:

Their sister, alive and well, has a bad knee (from an injury she can't remember) and a burned hand (from the car crash). She and her friends are huge fans of Sinclair-Voyance, and their radio station is hosting a ticket "9th Caller" thing, and she's lucky number 9! She and her friends are stocked to see the boys preform, and the sister is excited, too, because it'll be her 16th birthday. Goodness, she's so excite to celebrate it with her friends and at the concert! And the concert is for a good charity that helped her heal from the car crash she survived. Because of the charity, her hand is scarred but fully healed, and it saved her hand from being taken. Anyways, she won tickets for The Stand Pit, and S-V was happy to trade a standing ticket for a front row seating ticket. She can't stand for a long time, and S-V Brand understood that (The Sinclairs a lot of things, but not ablest).

Plus, this concert will be able to be away from her abusive boyfriend and brothers. Well, she doesn't want to call them bothers for what they've done to her, but what else is she supposed to call them? They remind her every day that her first family didn't want her, and her first brothers tried to kill her! No one wants her. Even the new adopted family doesn't want her: they just wanted the check the state gives every month for taking care of her.

Even though she's a fan of their music, she always felt connected with them. Bo's voice was always comforting her like a lullaby. Vincent's kin smile and gentleness around children made her feel like she knew him. Lester's bright smile an happy brown eyes sending her back to a time she's forgotten. She knows she was taken away from a different family, but she forgot they faces. Is it possible to miss strangers who she's never met?

They felt like a home she never got to live in.

Before the concert, Lester is out near the pit doing autographs, talking, and doing photos with fans. He was the biggest smile on his face, but it fades when he sees his... no. That's not her. She's dead! That's just a fan who looks like her! Yeah, that's it. Besides, his sister's dead! He buried her in a white coffin with butterflies on it. Butterflies were her favorite, and the scar on her hand was in a shape of one she got while she drowned. While the town went to away on the day of her funeral to comfort his parents, the brothers stayed behind and finished the job before the digger could bury her. They threw dirt over her grave while listening to the radio, and they comfort her, promising that she'll always be an angel to them.

The three brothers singing their sister to sleep to "Amazing Grace" when they were done. Yeah... his sister's dead.

Either way, he forces a happy face and takes a photo with the sister look-alike. As Lester leaves to get ready and recovers from this ghost sighting, the girl catches his hand, At first the security is about to push her away, but the girl says to him with soft eyes, "I'm sorry for your lost, Lester. I hope she's resting well."

His eyes falls to her hand and see the butterfly-shaped scar. That seals it. It's her! It's really her! That's his sister and--and she doesn't remember him. He squeezes her hand, saying, "Thank ya, ma'am. It means a lot ya showed up for 's. Than' ya."

In her mind, his voice rings, and she's heard that voice before. Long before the albums and interviews. Long before Sinclair-Voyance became a band. Somewhere, his voice matched the screaming brother fighting to keep his sister in his grip. Somewhere, looking out the back window of a cop car, visions of her brothers fighting sheriffs flashed, and Lester was there.

She finally remembers.

Book recs based on stuff I read in 2023

Nonfiction

Under the Banner of Heaven by John Krakauer (2003) - it's outdated by about 20 years which leads to one hell of a jumpscare at the end, but I'd recommend it to anyone who's interested at all in Mormonism, high control groups, FLDS, and the history of abuse against women and girls in the LDS; it covers everything you need to know about the ways the LDS church has cultivated a paedophile/domestic abuse culture and it's fucking haunting and it's the most upset a book has ever made me

Black Tudors: The Untold Story by Miranda Kaufman (2017) - a really fun read; it's a collection of case studies of the real life Africans living or working in England during the Renaissance, with each chapter focusing on a different individual and what we know about them from parish records, legal documents etc. It's also a great primer on England's relationship with the slave trade and African nations from the 16th to 17th centuries. Also I listened to this on audiobook and the lady's voice is super soothing

Problematic gay rep

Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin (1956) - yeah okay turns out Baldwin is the GOAT of queer lit for a reason. I don't even like 20th century stuff but Baldwin can WRITE man I was sucked in! And David is the BLUEPRINT of problematic gay rep! I loved watching his awful decisions I hope he suffers eternally! It's a short and easy read and a classic for a reason do give it a chance

Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z Brite/William Martin (1996) - I'm not sure if I'm deadnaming Martin here because I bought the book earlier this year and it was still being attributed to Poppy Z Brite so I guess it's being treated like an author pseudonym now? I think? Anyway, don't read this book unless you're a disgusting freak like me who enjoys torture porn. This book comes with every content warning under the sun and I had an AMAZING couple of afternoons reading this book. American Psycho, Jeffrey Dahmer and NBC Hannibal had a baby and Martin delivered it; it's a raw, twisted and angry scream into the void about AIDS, homeless queer youth, homophobia and cultural stigma, wrapped up in a bow made of intestines. I went into this book hoping to see people get tortured and came out of it quite melancholic with a lot to think about, and I accidentally got attached to the victim oops!

The Charioteer by Mary Renault (1953) - I was gonna make a non-problematic section just for this book but then I remembered all the rampant femmephobia xD and Ralph and Laurie would 100% be bootlicking gays against pride. This book personally isn't for me - it's a lot of love triangle nonsense - but I think the tumblr demographic is particularly primed for gay World War II love triangle stories, and it's a softer, happier love story than my other recs. Would recommend if you can get past the main characters being pick mes.

Manga

No Longer Human by Junji Ito (2019) - this is a story about being a bad person and ruining everyone's lives especially your own lol; I loved the original prose version, but Ito's spin of the story makes everything so much worse and if I hadn't literally read a book about irl paedophilia the month before I think this book would have put me in the angriest and most violent place I've been all year. Love gorgeous art? Love mental illness? Love despicable spineless main characters? Get on this

Other fiction

The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco (1980) - it took me a month to read this entire book. It's so self-indulgent and long winded and contrived and the big twist is laughable and I wouldn't have it any other way! It's just some old guy playing in his sand box with his little monk action figures and it's charming af. Plus the concept of a monastic murder mystery involving several orders of monks will never not be fun, and I'm biased towards the book cos my guess at the very start as to whodunnit was right >:) would recommend if you like Sherlock Holmes and long long diatribes about medieval Catholic geopolitics

Garth Marenghi's Terrortome by Garth Marenghi (2022) - this one's just a bit of a laff. The horror comedy ramblings of a man going stir crazy during COVID lockdowns. You don't need to have seen Garth Marenghi's Darkplace to understand the book but it is recommended if you can access it. Content warning for explicit man x typewriter

We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson (1962) - it's a modern day (relatively) witch story! Jackson was writing about and for all the weird autistic little girls out there with this one. It's a gothic murder mystery about two co-dependent sisters who are outcasts in their village. It was a great introduction to Jackson's work

My 2023 item review - Dockable Case (w/ Screen Protector and Thumb Grips) - Part 2/Final [Jan. 9th, 2023]

Back for this continuing review, my friends! While already covered the first parter back in Jan. 26th, I’m still catching up to do by installing my Switch system alongside my Joy-Cons. Before of doing that though, I wanted to make sure my Switch system needs cleaning and dusting. Which we’re in for today’s continuing review. However expect this one will be the final before moving to other items I’m eager to share.

⬆️ 14th through 15th Images

Here you can see I’ve two different wipes, a dust absorber, a cloth, and a screen protector onto my Switch for cleaning. There were came from the box after opening, BTW. Anyways, I handle well with the cleaning, wiping, and picking dust that I know what these are use for. At least I took about few minutes before moving to install the screen protector next.

Now for the next one, I’ve been carefully to install a screen protector on my Switch system. It’s a good thing I did just a bit right, but got it fit nonetheless. Though I recommend some stickers and an alignment frame tool for extra help. At least if I had the alignment frame tool for my Switch system, but I haven’t. 😅

⬆️ 17th through 19th Image Nevertheless, at least now I’m moving on to placing the dockable case shorty afterwards. I started on the back where I needed to be careful of installing. Thankfully as always, it fit right in where I took some time of showing off. Though I would’ve prefer changing the color for my dockable case than this, but probably next time. Regardless, it does stand out as I expected; especially for the material as I holding with my hands. I’ll get to that for later.

I’m now doing with my Joy-Cons that needed covering, but hold on. You may asking “are these new Joy-Cons instead of my original Joy-Cons? The gray ones?” Well ever since my original Joy-Cons had been worn out a bit; especially the last time where I show off the R button from the right sided Joy-Con. ➡️ Link Here

Not only that, It also came with an issue of stick drift which is unfortunate. Though I know I should get it fix by watching some tutorial videos like VK’s YouTube Channel if learning right. (Don’t know of fixing the R button, though) Nevertheless, I asked my mom to buy me second set of Joy-Cons; which happened back in April. 13th, 2021. That’s my story of it, but hoping to expect as I going through this review and saving my new Joy-Cons test later soon.

Anyways, back to setting up my new Joy-Cons to cover up; which I have when placing from bottom to top. Though I had to switch up from top to bottom, but at least fits right up as well. Just making sure it doesn’t have some scratches for each Joy-Cons. On the plus side, it’s what I’m hoping for so I don’t leave out any smudge stuff when holding my hands. Mostly my right sided Joy-Con when I’m pressing the A button for example.

And now it’s finally completed! All secure with a screen protector upfront. As I picked up with my hands, it felt smooth due to the materials of my dockable case. I looked up that it made with "shock-absorbent and anti-scratch PC" material. Sounds promising, right? I'll see if it can hold up until I'll get a new case soon. This time, I’m picking a theme like blue or the Super Mario themed case.

Not done with this review though, I have a set of joy-con thumb grips/caps to pick on. There are ten total of caps in two each: red, blue, black, and purple with paws. The difference between four black caps is smaller while the other was a bit big; though at least not way too big. If I had to pick though is going with red and blue for each joy-cons. Does make sense of having both new controllers I’m having. However how well protective for each controlling sticks on top? They’re pretty alright that it made in different material. I tested out when pressing and moving them; especially in games like Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Very appreciate of using the caps so far, but I’m okay with the red and blue ones.

My Overall Thoughts: After owning one of last year’s Christmas gifts, the dockable case and other accessories is something I’m hoping for. These includes a screen protector right after cleaning and ten total thumb grips/caps. The main item itself though was good too. It’s made with "shock-absorbent and anti-scratch PC", but felt smooth when holding both hands as to playing games in handheld mode. Do hope this holds longer as it should and to everyone can get one of those. If you had your Nintendo Switches that is. My mom ordered from Amazon.com, BTW. ⬇️

SWTORpadawan Writes - 2022: A Year In Review

Sorry this is more than a week late...

2022 was a busy year for me, and while that was probably good for my professional and financial well-being, it was a down year for me creatively. Even when I wasn't swamped with work, I was usually feeling mentally burned out to write as much as I wish I could. Still, there were a few gems.

Overall - 13 pieces of various size in 12 months. Boo. I rarely bother to count my word counts; I try to prize quality over quantity. On the plus side, none of my pieces felt like completes failures.

High points! Collaborating with @raven-of-domain-kwaad / @the-raven-of-highever on a couple of AU pieces where I 'rescued' Kelsa and Élise Kine to my Adas Legacy. It was a fresh change of pace where I got to to explore one of my most complicated characters, Teeanah Malvern.

Likewise - Raven got me to write a pair of stories about Bela and Tasiele, two of the characters from my "Future Halcyon Legacy". (I need a better name for that one.) Space vampires, am I right?

@grandninjamasterren got me to write about lesbian robots. (It seemed like a good idea at the time.)

In terms of my various series - I'm glad I got to revisit Nas'ash'dia and Ozibaumnu in "Survivors". I'm even happier I got to revisit Tyzen Pyne in "Incomplete". (I hope to finish his story this year.)

I don’t know if “Convergence” is one of my better pieces, but it is the story I’m most relieved to get done. I literally had more than a dozen post-it notes on this thing in my old writing journal. It was a monstrosity, and half of it felt like shotgun-blast philosophy. The final product is at least readable.

I'm also encouraged that I had a new piece drop this week. I spent a month focusing on "How We Came to This Point", and it had been in my WIP Journal for a long while.

"Perito Moreno" (2013)

Hello back! I've been out in a trip the last days, and the above archieved painting depicts one of the places i've been to ^^

Long story short: spent some days in el Chaltén, and El Calafate (both cities in Santa Cruz, Argentina) .

In the latter, I took two tours where I saw and approached via boat/Catamarán a bunch of amazing glaciers, the above included, but also Spegazzini and Upsala (all lake glaciers) plus two hanging ones (one was called Seco, the other I think was called High?). For Perito Moreno, I also spent some time in the walkways by it. There were also Icebergs in the lake (Argentino), which was super sweet!

I also went to a nature reserve in Calafate, where I saw an amazing amount of bird species. This all was -very summarized- from half of Wednesday 19 to Friday 22.

However, in the former town, El Chaltén -which is full of absolutely gorgeous hiking trails, that I enjoyed to the max, literally hiked as much as humanely possible. First day (Sunday the 16th) I arrived I midday AND still went or three tiny hikes (Los Condores, las Aguilas and Chorrilo waterfall, all 1 to 3 km long). Saw spectacled ducks on the way to the last one, a protected species- Andean Condors were over the town literally at all times, loved that. Second day (monday 17th) I hiked up to the base of Fitz Roy mountain, and was absolutely gorgeous. Not only the landscappery was breathtaking, but also, there's two trails you can take (go through Pilar trail, and back through Fitz roy trail so you maximize landscappery seen). The solemn calm of the forest and remote mountain lakes at sundown blew my mind over and over. There was a beutifully "singing" glacier at some point -called Piedras Blancas IIRC-, in a mountain.

And not only that, back throuh Fitz Roy trail around 7 pm I managed to see (and photograph!) a very, very hard to see native species, which is also endangered and of special importance to me and my art. Will share the photos later (maybe tomorrow) but if anyone guesses which species this is, I will draw a character for you for free!

Tuesday 18th another amazing hike to Torres Laguna, and what litle I had left of Wednesday before the van to calafate picked me up, was spent exploring a wee bit of Paredón (a rocky wall by the town) and the way to Chorrillo fall, which is beautiful but which I hurried through the first day-

Saturday I took a plane back to a town roughly 200 km away from mine-, where I spent Sat night to most Sunday with friends, and Sunday night I drove back to my town (I had left my car in said town, at their house).

So yeah, may share a handful select photos maybe tomorrow, I am still exhausted, but it was an amazing trip thorough and thorough, not a single instant to be wasted!

Will do more archieving tomorrow, if later today i am not too exhausted ^^

Good evening, my dears. Today I would like to tell you about a very interesting historical person, about whom there are many legends and histories, namely Mary I Tudor, nicknamed "Bloody Mary".

🖇️The way to the throne

the birth of the daughter of the English king Henry VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon was a real miracle. Before her, all the queen's pregnancies ended with the child dying in the mother's womb or immediately after giving birth. therefore, the happiness of the parents knew no bounds when they finally had a live, healthy baby girl, who was named in honor of Henry's beloved sister, Mary Tudor, Queen of France.

the girl grew up, got an education, was engaged in horse riding and falconry, and also studied the work of Christian poets and, for fun, read stories about women who sacrificed themselves - Christian saints and ancient warrior maidens.

Her life changed when Henry decided to annul the marriage with her mother, as a result of which Maria lost all rights to the crown, turning into an illegitimate daughter. in the following years, her life depended on how her relationship with her stepmothers developed (and she had plenty of them - Henry VIII married 6 times, and all his wives, except the last one, either died, or he executed them, or divorced them) . so, for example, in his father's second wife, Anna Boleyn, whom he later beheaded due to a false accusation of treason, Mary was made a servant of the queen.

But her fate is such that at the age of 37 she still becomes the queen of England.

🖇️ Where did the nickname "bloody" come from?

• it turns out that Maria was not called "bloody" during her life. The nickname "Bloody Mary" appeared in English written sources only at the beginning of the 17th century, about half a century after her death!

•On the contrary, during her lifetime Maria was known as the kindest and most merciful ruler of England in the 16th century. if you compare the degree of bloodthirstiness of Maria and her father with her successor-sister Elizabeth I, then you get a completely different picture.

•Under Henry VIII, 72,000 people were executed, under Elizabeth I there were 89,000 executed, and under Mary - only 287! that is, the same "Bloody Mary" executed 250 times less people than her father, and 310 times less than her younger sister!

•because under Maria I the common people were not executed (with the exception of a few isolated cases), mostly representatives of the elite were executed, for example, Archbishop Thomas Cranmer and his close associates. And during the reign of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, mass executions were carried out. under her father, most of the executed consisted of peasants.

•At that time, it became more profitable to sell sheep's wool to the Netherlands than grain, and much less labor was needed to graze sheep than to grow grain. therefore, land plots were taken from the peasants en masse, which immediately turned into fenced pastures. Many peasants throughout the kingdom were left without land and homes. They were forced to wander, begging for alms. then Henry VIII decided to get rid of the surplus population, which did not bring him any economic benefit, and established the death penalty for vagrancy and begging.

under Elizabeth I, to the mass executions of the homeless and beggars, which resumed again under her, mass executions of participants in popular uprisings were added (they began to occur almost every hour) plus executions of women suspected of witchcraft.

•in 1563, Elizabeth I issued the "Act Against Spells, Witchcraft and Witchcraft", after which the "witch hunt" began in England. Since the queen was an educated, intelligent woman, it is doubtful that she really believed in witchcraft, especially in such a ridiculous one as causing a storm by removing stockings. by the way, this is a real "Stocking Affair" that happened in Huntingdon. A woman and her 9-year-old daughter were hanged because, according to the court, they sold their souls to the devil and unleashed a storm by taking off their stockings!

•Why then did Elizabeth issue this act? the point was that at that time the economy of England was in a very deplorable state (due to the decrease in profitability from the export of wool and woolen fabrics). Due to this, taxes were constantly raised to make up for the lack of money in the treasury. and the increase in taxes caused a storm of indignation among the people and the above-mentioned numerous uprisings. In order to explain all these difficulties and failures, it was necessary to find a "scapegoat" and turn the anger of the people on him. Therefore, it was decided to blame "witches" for everything. it's like they cast a spell on the silent man, and life in the kingdom is getting more and more complicated.

Taking into account the scale of the bloody massacres of Henry and Elizabeth, one wonders why it was Mary who called it bloody. and the whole point is that during the 16th and 17th centuries in England there was a struggle for power between the representatives of the two branches of Western Christianity - Catholics and Protestants. Henry and Elizabeth were Protestants, and Maria was Catholic. Protestants finally won only in 1688.

but no matter what we say about poor Maria, she remains an interesting person about whom books are written and movies are made.

Chapter 1 of the 16th Kim Possible Fannies Awards - Ceremony

From the desks of Sharper, BCBDrums and Gothicthundra.

(AN: Due to a change in scheduling with the upcoming football season coming up for me in August (I usually do the football stats for my local high school and juco teams here, in case if anyone new in the Kimmunity is curious) , I've decided that it would be best for me to upload the remaining chapters of the Prelude to the 16KPFA on the other story and upload the highlights of the Ceremony as a separate story to A) make the uploading go a lot faster, B) take a lot of pressure off of me of uploading chapters on a weekly basis because of the stress of doing football stats and C) allow me more time to do my own KP stories. -Sharper)

The story is still going to be rated T due to some strong language, some cartoon action violence, some suggestive comments, and brief use of alcohol.

The world looks indeed different for the Possible-Stoppables than the one they left behind in early March. Automatic hand sanitizer dispensers, plastic barriers, social distancing markers, and sanitation crews were a common sight throughout Middleton. Quarantines and self-isolations if tested positive for the TEVID virus were also common as well. Furthermore, there was a mask mandate that had been in place since March. A vaccine for the TEVID virus was close to being developed.

Meanwhile, the Kimmunity Council were still holding meetings on where the 16th KP Fannies Awards were to be held since the Colorado governor has officially reopened theaters, opera houses and other places of entertainment, albeit only at 25% capacity. Due to the pandemic, all of the Council's meetings had to be held online.

Sharper was in the main media room titled "Council Rock" at Bonnie's opulent and extremely expensive mansion. He was talking with BCB, Split-n-splice, Eoraptor, Tennente, Whitem, CajunBear, Daccu, and MrDrP via video-conferencing.

"So what do you think we should do for the 16th Fannies if they are to remain on-schedule?" Whitem asked.

"Hold them at the North Memorial Theater?" came Daccu's reply.

"Yeah, I think we should do that." Sharper said, "But we need to limit the audience for this year's ceremony to just nominees, presenters, and members of the press. Twenty-five percent should be around 400 people."

Raptor agreed with Sharper.

"I think that would satisfy the governor's requirements for the seating capacity." he said.

"Plus, there should be testing for the audience for the virus as well." BCB added.

"Yes." agreed Sharper on the decision.

He then also laid out the other health protocols that will be in effect for the ceremony.

"We should also close off every other row as well, as well as adding those automatic hand sanitizers as well. Masks are going to be mandatory as well. The only time during the ceremony that we should take masks off is when we are speaking at the podiums, which will be 12 feet apart from each other."

"Are we all in agreement on these measures to protect ourselves against the virus?"

The other members of the Council agreed to these decision and decided, unanimously, that the date of the ceremony will be October 16 and the date of the 17th KP Fannies ceremony will be on June 7 of the next year in conjunction with the KP show's 20th anniversary.

The former day was also when the TEVID vaccine was to be released, first to the medical and those that were classified as essential workers.

(GJ Headquarters, October 13, 2021: three days before the ceremony, 9:06am)

Kim was working at her desk in her office. She, alongside with the rest of the Global Justice crew, had to wear masks that covered their mouth and nose, for they were still under the mask mandate of the state of Colorado.

She was wearing a black pantsuit with her GJ identification badge. She was combing through surveillance videos and photos.

Ron was outside her office. He had a professional-looking polo shirt and plaid khaki pants. Like his wife, he too had his GJ ID badge as well (though he had accidentally forgotten it on a couple of occasions). He also had a face mask as well as does Rufus.

"I'm trying to figure out these thefts!" Kim grunted, sifting through the paperwork "And it vexes me so!"

Ron tapped on the side of the steel door.

"May I come in, Agent K-P-S?" Ron grinned.

"Permission granted, Agent R-P-S!" Kim said, chuckling a little.

The steel doors to Kim's office whoosed opened as Ron came in.

"I totally like the doors that go whoosh." Ron said, "Remind me to get those doors for my office!"

"Can't." Kim smirked, "It's not in the budget!"

"Aww man!" Ron complained.

Then he got back to the task at hand.

"So how many thefts have we got going on?" he asked.

"It's been four jewel heists in June and July." Kim replied, pointing to the photos. "First, Starlet's jewelry collection worth $1.5 million was stolen in the dead of night. Then, the Holsten Twins were robbed of $4 million in jewels and diamonds. Next was MC Honey, who had $8 million in her jewels nabbed as well. And lastly, Britina, who had $14 million stolen of her jewelry as well."

"Wow! What are the connections to it?" Ron asked.

"Well, all involved celebrities and all involved multi-million dollar thefts." Kim explained as she shuffled through the surveillance photos. "And based of security camera footage, we do know that two thieves are involved. One man and one woman." She pointed to the figures of a man and woman, obviously covered in black.

"Man...they do move fast!"

"But as we move on into September..." Kim said, pointing to more surveillance photos, "...the thefts got bigger. Two in particular were of interest."

She continued on the details.

"About $31 million of jewels and expensive watches were stolen from a New York hotel three weeks ago for a promotional event on September 4th! And not more than two weeks later, on the 19th, $70 million in jewels and artwork were stolen from the daughter to an multi-multi-billionaire electric car company CEO. And those two robberies involved a team of at least 6-8 people, but two of the thieves have the same height and build from the celeb thefts."

"And from that electric car company CEO mansion's crime scene, they left behind these playing cards with letters on the back of them in permanent marker, but I can't figure it out."

Kim had 16 playing cards on them and the letters were written as follows CAWLRORKLEL and the numbers 126110.

"What could it mean?" she asked, being puzzled about it. Rufus jumped onto the table.

"I'm in the same position as you are, KPS." Ron said.

"Let's think about it first, Ron. They all involved high-profile events and people, they all target jewelry, sometime paintings, and the thefts keep on getting bigger and bigger." Kim said.

"Which means their next target would have to involve something big, something grander." Ron said.

Rufus tapped his paw against his face and figured it out. He arranged the letters and the numbers.

"But who would be wealthy enough to be such a target?" Kim questioned, tapping her head with her fingers.

Both Kim and Ron then heard Rufus chittering loudly.

"Rufus? What is it, buddy?"

Rufus chittered and repeatedly pointed with his paw on what he did with the playing cards.

Kim and Ron took one look and gasped.

"That's it! That is their next target!"

It said, ROCKWALLER 101621.

"It makes sense!" Kim exclaimed "She has the largest collection of jewelry known to mankind...The Rockwaller Family Jewels."

"We have to warn her!" Ron shouted.

(4 days earlier, October 9, 2021)

"Sharper, we got a big sitch here!"

BCB came running down one of the main hallways of Bonnie's mansion, which has now expanded to 300 bedrooms and 525 bathrooms with the completion of a recent addition.

She knocked on the door of Sharper's office.

"Come in!" came Sharper's reply.

BCB came running as fast as she could to his desk.

"Hey...BCB! Slow down!" Sharper insisted. "What's wrong!"

"The Timothy North Theater...was overwhelmed with a swarm of roaches and rats!" BCB exclaimed. She showed Sharper the pictures of the rats chewing on the seats of the chairs.

"Oh no! We're gonna have to get an exterminator...no, several exterminators...to get rid of these pests!" Sharper shuddered at the sight of the animals. "What about the Golden Rufuses?"

"They are safe in a truck in Denver and await your signal." BCB informed him.

"Since the North Theater has been infested with rats, I think we should move the 16th Fannies to the Rockwaller Opera House." Sharper said, "The date of the 16th will remain the same. I'm gonna have to probably send out a mass email, informing members of the Kimmunity about the change in venue."

"So what you're saying is that my family heirlooms are in danger of being stolen?" Bonnie asked.

She, Kim, Ron (and Rufus), Betty Director, Sharper and BCB were at Bonnie's main opulent mansion. Bonnie, of course, was not the same mean Bonnie as before after the three spirits of Christmas visited her last year.

"That's correct, Miss Rockwaller." Betty replied, "There were a couple of recent high-profile robberies with valuable stolen worth in the millions. We fear that your collection may be the next target."

"Well, my collection of Rockwaller valuables, including some really expensive Faberge eggs, are worth around $400 million." Bonnie said as she adjusted her engagement ring from Senor Senior Junior since they were engaged in January, prior to the pandemic. "And my uncles would really have a hissy-fit if any of the valuables ended up missing from Rockwaller property. Though it is protected by layers of security from the last time."

"Probably the reason why you would need the extra security with GJ, My Queen." Sharper said.

"And with the North Theater somehow being infested with vermin, the scene's gonna shift to your opera house." BCB added.

Bonnie agreed. "Yeah, Drums..."

"Uhh, Bonnie, please call me BCB." BCB corrected her.

"Right...right...BCB. Yeah, I gotta obey the guv's protocols of social distancing and health sanitizers and all that stuff." Bonnie said.

"Sharper, do you think these two events with the planned robbery and the infesting of the North Theater with animals are connected?" Kim asked Sharper.

"I don't know if it is...but if something weird does happen in the ceremony, we'll find out." Sharper said to Kim.

Bonnie replied with confidence, "Don't worry, Kim. Even with this pandemic, we're going to have a normal ceremony with nothing weird happening!"

"I sure do hope so, Bonnie." Kim said. _

(October 10, 2021, 1:55pm)

A brown sedan approached a nearby abandoned warehouse in downtown Middleton. The driver of the sedan scanned his ID badge in as the garage to the warehouse opened, giving him access. The sedan rolled in slowly before coming to a complete stop.

The two occupants got out of the sedan, one male and one female. The male thief was named Cody. He, in his mid 30s and with dark black hair and green eyes, had been an accomplice to several of the high-profile robberies of celebrities, including that of Starlet and MCHoney and has been wanted in four states. He was also an expert in creating tranquilizers to sedate any security guards and was also an expert in evidence cleanup.

The female thief, Amy, was considered to be the mastermind of the mentioned celeb thefts. She too was in her mid 30s, and had blonde hair and blue eyes and was wanted in seven states for the robberies.

They were part of a five-member team that often love to steal from houses of the wealthy and famous from around the globe. They were considered masters of disguise and often baffled police, which was the reason why the authorities contacted Global Justice for help. It was also because that they had help from HenchCo with a few henchmen serving as extra muscle to complement the group.

The other three members were a male and two females: Troy, Laura, and Emily. Troy handled the security detail, Laura and Emily were the most capable fighters of the group, for both had fifth-degree black belts. They were also all in their mid-30s. Troy also normally served as the getaway driver/pilot for the group.

Cody and Amy also got some Bueno Nacho to go as well. The Bueno Nacho #582 in Middleton had re-adjusted its dining room so that it roped off selected booths to maintain social distancing. It also annoyed Ron as well because their normal booth was roped off.

"What took you two so long?" Troy muttered.

"Don't blame me for their 6-feet social distancing bullshit." Cody replied while setting the food down.

"Did you also get extra Diablo sauce for my Naco?" Laura asked.

"Got some in the bag!" Cody added, pointing to the familiar packets.

"Let's set up the food first before we begin our biggest operation yet." Amy spoke, "Operation Mt. Rockwaller!"

The four other thieves agreed.

(30 minutes later)

While they were eating, Amy brought up the first instance of the planned Rockwaller theft.

"I think what we should do is to go in around 9pm, right when the 16th KP Fannies Ceremony is at the half-way point of the ceremony." she suggested, "We will go in four unmarked vans onto that access road that usually supplies her vendors and food to her servants, butlers, and maids. Three of the vans should contain the henchmen while the fourth will contain the four of us. Cody will be on the inside posing as a member of the press. Troy's MIT degree will serve us well in knocking out all the security cams at the Rockwaller mansion."

"So the next order of business is going to be that gate that leads directly into the mansion." Cody then said. "That area has two layers of automatic spike strips against any unauthorized vehicle and her mansion, I bet to you, is going to crawl with her personal security force."

"Right! We're going to knock out the security guards with this!" Amy said while she held up the standard-issue HenchCo knockout gas canister and HenchCo tranquilizer darts. "As for those spikes, Troy again will disable them."

"That is all well and good, but we will need a distraction." Emily suggested.

"Yeah, Global Justice will be on our asses even if we do steal the diamonds!" Laura added while chewing through her Naco.

"That is the reason why the Boss Lady who hired us for the job planned ahead!" Amy chuckled, mentioning her very rich benefactor, but not by name. "She has had this person broken out of jail not more than a week ago!"

Amy tossed a recent copy of the Middleton Examiner and saw that Glame Dover (aka Game Controller) had escaped from jail after a robbery a couple months ago that involved the stealing of the Z-Boy III technology from Japan that was, thankfully, foiled by GJ.

"The Boss Lady's army of superhackers blocked information of the escape from getting it out to local police departments and criminal agencies, including Global Justice." Amy explained while typing on her laptop, explaining their plan, "Like Cody, he will be posing as a member of the press. With the help of the Boss Lady, he had helped developed a new video game arcade machine that will be placed in the gaming arcade that is right next to the opera house. So that when they go into the lobby area for intermission, some of the nominees may try to play the game. But what they don't know is that it is a mind-controlling device! Once they play it, they will become mindless putty controlled by Game Controller! That will buy us some time in order for us to escape with as many of the Rockwaller diamonds as we can possibly hold...including the rarest one of all!"

She swiveled her laptop to a pink diamond.

"The Pink R! Worth around $18 million!" Amy exclaimed.

"Double that if we get it on the black market!" Cody added.

"Global Justice won't know what'll hit them!" Laura cackled.

"And we will become extremely rich!" Amy laughed evily.

The other thieves joined in on the evil laughter and continued plotting along.

(October 16, 2021, 6:59pm)

And so, the night of the ceremony of the 16th Annual Kim Possible Awards finally came. Unlike in years past, there was no red carpet ceremony. Furthermore, every other section of seats in the opera house was roped off and the 300 spectators (some select members of the Kimmunity, the nominees who could come, the awards presenters, and a few members of the press) were all spaced around the auditorium. They were all wearing masks, as per the requirement of the governor and the smell of hand sanitizer was still fresh. There was also no orchestra as well.

On the stage, two podiums were set about 15 feet apart from each other on the left and right. A table was also there as well with the 33 Golden Rufuses all polished (and sanitized) for everyone's convenience.

Backstage, Sharper broke with tradition from wearing his seersucker suit. Since it was in the cleaners, he opted for the black tuxedo instead. BCB was wearing (inserting what dress she was planning to wear here).

Both were wearing masks as well.

"BCB, I always worry about the ceremony going crazy at some point!" Sharper said as BCB adjusted his tie.

"Sharper, you worry too much about it." BCB laughed, "Nothing's gonna go wrong!"

"Sure do hope so!" Sharper replied before noticing the female stagehand tapping her watch on her hand.

"That's our cue!" BCB said. "Strike up the music."

Since there was no orchestra to play the KP Orchestral Theme, the stagehand had a CD Player that was attached to the opera house's sound system. She put the CD labeled "KIM POSSIBLE ORCHESTRAL THEME" into the player.

The theme began to play as the voiceover said:

Welcome to the 16th Annual Kim Possible Fannies Awards. Give it up for your hosts: BCBDrums and Sharper the Writer.

The ceremony carried a TV-14 rating for Dialogue, Language, Sex, and Violence.

Once the song died down, BCB and Sharper stood 8 feet apart from each other and the podiums were rolled over to them. The crowd stood on their feet and applauded the hosts. Both the hosts removed their masks.

"Good evening, and welcome everyone to the 16th Annual Kim Possible Fannies Awards!" BCB exclaimed. "I am your hostess for the evening, BCB Drums, and of course you know my co-host as Sharper the Writer!"

"Yep, I am here for the...is it fourth ceremony I hosted or co-hosted?" Sharper asked.

"That's correct! Me and GT hosted last year's ceremony before all the craziness happened." BCB replied. "Within the craziness that was 2020 with all the lockdowns, we as the Kimmunity were able to publish just about 500 stories last year.

"That is, if you can take BCB and GT's Little Ones and Lipsky Family Tales, respectively, into the totals." Sharper added.

"The number is, in of itself, impressive, considering that KP's been off the air for 13 years." BCB said.

"It serves as a testament to the dedication we, the members of the Kimmunity, have for our favorite redhead." Sharper replied.

"Or favorite brunette cheerleader, in your case." BCB snickered as the audience gave a light laugh.

BCB then continued.

"Anyways, we want to give thanks to the people out there in the medical field who put their lives on the line every day in the middle of this pandemic!"

The audience applauded what BCB said.

BCB then explained the layout of the ceremony.

"For tonight's ceremony, it is going to be 4 hours long divided into two 2-hour segments with a 20-minute intermission inbetween the Most Unlikely-Unique Story and Best OneShot (K-T)categories. We'll have a variety of awards presenters: some who are in the audience, and some who will be in virtual."

"And before we go to commercial..." Sharper added, "As per the tradition of the KP scribes and elders..."

BCB then finished his sentence, "...here are the winners from last year's..."

"Pre-Pandemic!" Sharper interrupted.

BCB glared at him before saying, "...ceremony."

One by one, the awards for last year's ceremony were presented with a picture of the recipient and what category they won with elevator music playing in the background.

Ocon told Vettel he passed Gasly too early after three-wide move | 2022 Belgian Grand Prix

Esteban Ocon told Sebastian Vettel he made a tactical error when the pair caught Pierre Gasly in a dramatic moment during the Belgian Grand Prix. The trio ran three-abreast approaching Les Combes as they fought over seventh place. Ocon emerged ahead, followed by Gasly, as Vettel was passed on either side. The move unfolded after Vettel emerged from the pits behind Gasly on lap 34. He passed the AlphaTauri driver at the beginning of the next lap, and led his rival plus the chasing Ocon down to Eau Rouge. When they emerged from Raidillon, Gasly and Ocon used DRS to pass Vettel. Ocon took both drivers in a single move, a feat he pulled off twice during the race. “It was definitely good fun,” he said. “I’ve enjoyed the racing today, the car was extremely fast in a straight line, so I was managing the timing right about when to overtake. “From where we started, I think 16th or 17th, we were expecting one point. We got six out of today, so definitely a good result for us.” Ocon said he told Vettel afterwards he should have waited until later in the lap to pass Gasly, to avoid being caught by him “I spoke to Seb and I was like, the [DRS] detection is there and he’s passing Pierre too early because he’s not going to get the DRS. I lifted the throttle a bit, got myself a little bit of a gap to be able to use the straight-line speed and then the surprise was, and the confirmation was, that Pierre had DRS. Seb was very fair, honestly, he could have closed a bit on the left which he didn’t do, and I managed to get down on the outside of five.” While Vettel was satisfied by his finish he admitted “it could have in a position more” after being passed by Ocon. “That was a bit of a shame with Esteban, he was a bit too lucky to pick me up there.” He said he was “a bit stuck” when he was caught by the pair as they reached the Kemmel straight. “I didn’t have DRS and I was running out of energy. “So I just watched in the mirrors and at some point just tried to keep it in the middle to not be distracting because I knew I’d get eaten up. “It was a bit unfortunate. I just missed to get a run on Pierre coming out of the pits. I don’t know, with a better in-lap or better pit stop, that half a second we could have picked him up straight away and then it’s a different story. “With this song, I just kind of wrote about, basically, what it was like to basically be like, 'Bye guys! I’m gonna go here for a long time.”

“I wrote 'Daylight’ about the idea that, reputation, for me, aesthetically and thematically, felt like a very, very long night of storms and volcanic eruptions, floods, hurricanes, hail, tornadoes, endless fire, an asteroid hit. And so it felt like trying to figure out what’s what throughout all that (…) and realizing that you can find love in literally the worst times in your life… you can find the best things in your life that you will have forever, in temporary, really awful times that will pass.”

The moments of my true story on that album are songs like “Delicate,” “New Year’s Day,” “Call It What You Want,” “Dress.” The one-two punch, bait-and-switch of Reputation is that it was actually a love story. It was a love story in amongst chaos. All the weaponized sort of metallic battle anthems were what was going on outside. That was the battle raging on that I could see from the windows, and then there was what was happening inside my world — my newly quiet, cozy world that was happening on my own terms for the first time.

It’s weird, because in some of the worst times of my career, and reputation, dare I say, I had some of the most beautiful times — in my quiet life that I chose to have. (...) The bad stuff was really significant and damaging. But the good stuff will endure. The good lessons — you realize that you can’t just show your life to people.

But is the idea that as your own life becomes less dramatic, you’ll need to pull ideas from other places?

“I don’t feel like that yet. I think I might feel like that possibly when I have a family. If I have a family. [Pauses] I don’t know why I said that! (…) But right now, I feel like it’s easier for me to write than it ever was.”

You don’t talk about your relationship, but you’ll sing about it in wildly revealing detail. What’s the difference for you?

Singing about something helps you to express it in a way that feels more accurate. You cannot, no matter what, put words in a quote and have it move someone the same way as if you heard those words with the perfect sonic representation of that feeling.

On writing “Paper Rings”

“I had all these lyrics about all these funny memories of how something can start off in a really quirky way and surprise you. Like how it says, “I hate accidents, except when we went from friends to this.” So I wanted to show the quirkiness of a relationship and how it’s like, wow, this really fell together in really interesting, funny, playful, cute pieces. And now it’s something we’re both really stoked happened exactly the way it did.”

The screening brought out plenty of celebrity guests including Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn, Andy McDowell, Diane Lane, Sophia Bush, Cara Delevingne and famed attorney Gloria Allred.

And so, as a writer, you try and expand moments. From the new album Lover, I like the lyric: with every guitar string scar on my hand, I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover. I was thinking about how I’ve written all these songs on guitar and I’ve played guitar until my fingers have bled, I’ve written songs about letdown and heartbreak and struggle and so the idea that you can take all the bad things that happen to you and you could use that as appreciation for good things that happen to you and really cherish them because you’ve experienced like, a breakup song or two.

So what was your favourite part about your birthday?

My favourite part about my birthday was that– it was uh... it was– I got to play a show on the same night, it was all my favourite things right, like get to play a show at MSG, and Z100 had the crowd sing happy birthday to me, I was really into that, thought that was really cool. And then afterward I went to my birthday party, and I got to hang out with my family and friends, there were Christmas trees, it was just good!

Speaking of Christmas trees, the holidays are right around the corner, do you have any plans?

Well... I mean, this is my last day of actually having any responsibilities so my one plan was to get through, you know, try to make it through this in one piece, try not to embarass myself. Uh yeah, I don’t know, I’m not sure.

I ask about the contemporary political resonances of A Christmas Carol. I cite the wealth of certain members of his profession and of Swift’s. (...) I ask if he finds it embarrassing.

“Find what embarrassing?”

The disparity between the amount some people earn and the wages of workers in, say, Amazon fulfilment centres.

“I saw something in The Guardian the other day, I think, saying that the top six richest people in the UK accumulate the same amount of wealth as the poorest 13 million. I think that was the figure.”

I tell him my daughters have insisted I ask if he minds Swift writing songs about him (whole albums, actually, but check out London Boy if you are in search of a little cringe).

“No, not at all. No. It’s flattering.”

Does it matter to him that the press–it’s a bit metatextual this, I admit, for I’m probably doing the same thing–make it obvious that they are as interested in his girlfriend as they are in him?

“I just don’t pay attention to what I don’t want to pay attention to,” he explains tolerantly. “I turn everything else down on a dial. I don’t have any interest in tabloids. I know what I want to do, and that’s this, and that’s what I am doing.”

December 24th – The NYT releases Taylor’s episode of Diary of a Song, where she talks about the inspiration behind the song Lover. (x)

“I had toyed with the idea of being like, we could leave the Christmas lights up ‘til April. But it’s not about that being a crazy thing. It’s about how mundane it is. It’s about we could put a rug over there. We could do wallpaper, or we could do paint. When young adults go from living in their family to then combining their life with someone else, that’s actually like the most profound thing.”

“I was hired by an agency to perform at the resort on New Year’s Eve, and Taylor and Joe were staying at the resort as guests. It was by chance that I met them and sung to them. I was singing on the beach (on the sand overlooking the sunset) and the guests would arrive by boat as I was singing. Taylor, Joe and her friends arrived last. Taylor and Joe were there with their friends having a private holiday. I performed for 1 hour and 45 minutes overall. Taylor, Joe and her friends were there for the last 40 minutes of my set. They both said, ‘You seriously have an amazing, powerful voice, keep going, you will go far.’ They both gave me a standing ovation when I sung my last song, ‘Let Me Try Again’ by Frank Sinatra. They were so kind and so sweet.

They were holding hands, laughing, chatting, sometimes looked at each other lovingly and appeared very much in love. They were sitting at a bench table while I was singing, and they were eating, drinking and chatting. Taylor was wearing a beautiful sequin knee-length black dress which covered her arms, with no shoes. Joe was wearing a white shirt and dark navy cotton trousers/pants. I was there when Taylor and Joe were present as the countdown to midnight happened. There were fireworks in the distance. Taylor, Joe and her friends were upstairs at the VIP rooftop bar, dancing and enjoying the night until 1am in the morning when they left. Taylor and Joe were walking around the main event at South Beach where they were enjoying the different delicacies and cuisines that were in different stalls, including Thai, English, Italian and French food.”

“They were the last group to arrive, so there was no one else on the jetty. I saw this pretty, pretty couple and their friends, and as she walked up from where she got off the boat, I realized who she was — it was Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn. She was in a really pretty black sequins dress that went down to her knees. Joe was wearing a nice collared shirt with shorts or trousers. Because they were on an island, there was a lot of people wearing smart-casual clothes. And they were on holiday with their friends, on a private holiday.

I sang a lot of different songs when they heard me, but it was when I finished singing that they actually stood up and clapped. And they both said simultaneously, “You’ve got an amazing voice, that was really good. Well done to you.” And then they walked off to the main event, which was on the other part of the island.
