one: i have been told this many times lmao

two: so like three or four years ago at this rate i did a seasonal work gig customizing ornaments and Christmas decorations for people and i had to match the House Style in order to do so and the House Style included a's styled like they are here in this default tumblr font, with like a hood over the circle part of the a. in my natural handwriting I would write a's with just like a circle and a line, no hood on the top. i had to write so many a's in the House Style at that job that it permanently changed my handwriting

Tell us more about Daisy? Like, her early life?

I can answer some Early Life Daisy Facts

- Bob and Helmut spent at least one full entire week narrowing down what name they wanted to give Daisy. Trying to poll the others made it worse. They Eventually, Finally settled on Daisy bc it's a good flower & for the song Daisy Bell

- She has a spring birthday :)

- She was raised by both her dads for I'd say around the first 2-3 years of her life? For a while it was just the good domestic shit, before I railroad the poor family into experiencing canon adjacent hardships

- Also of course her aunts and uncles and Truman (her... nephew? iirc?) chipped in too, especially after the deluge. Uncle Otto's her favorite to Bob's annoyance but she enjoys spending time with all of them

- She vaguely remembers Lucy and Helmut, both fondly

- she feels at least like she remembers Lucy a lot less clearly because no one ever talks about her, which Daisy thinks is weird. No one has the heart to really tell a child the full story abt Maligula, so Daisy compartmentalizes her as two different ppl.

- Helmut on the otherhand she's heard SO many stories about how fun and loud and cool he was, and she wants to be more like him

- She didn't speak until she was around 3/4 years old, though she picked up on using baby's first figments very fast to communicate

- Bob tried to teach her how to garden and use herbaphony but she's not very good at that. She's better at communicating with fungi, which is something I think Bob (And Compton!) struggle with bc thats not a plant or an animal

- Despite struggling with herbaphony she is a lot like Bob, quiet and introverted but with a flare for the dramatic when charged up abt something

- She didn't have too many friends growing up, not for anyone's lack of trying she just didn't really bloom into being social until her tweens

✨ Out of the comments you’ve received on your fics, what are two or three of your favorites?

Actually, I keep my eye out for Commentors! I really like when Retro46 comments on "Family Swap," and Queenofdragons6 on "Raz's Regretful Realm" And of course I like getting comments in general as they keep me motivated and help me figure out what to write next.

💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?

For my current Brainrot of Psychonauts, changing the timeline. Like... apparently Augustus is a VERY young boy when the Deluge happens 20 years ago and also the Deluge happened in 1962, making PN2 take place in 1982. Thing is... Raz is supposed to have been born in 1991. Simple change: just make the Deluge back a few years and give a bit more time to all of the characters to grow through the Psychonauts organization. While the "Deluge only took place 20 years ago" is PERFECT for my ideas that Truman had a bond with Augustus and Lucy before they were torn away and their memories were gone and Truman ALSO lost not only a motherly figure but BOTH of his uncles which creates *chef's kiss* delicious family angst... it doesn't make sense. Ford is supposed to be 70, he would have been 50 and only participated in the battle against Maligula so his reputation as "the psychonauts's greatest leader" makes 0 sense. (edit): I'd also give extra days for Raz at Whispering Rock and the Motherlobe to help flesh out Campers/Interns and their stories with Raz. The stories with the Campers just have Raz witnessing events rather than getting to know the different characters and the sidequests that you CAN do with the Interns aren't as impactful as the Camper's side-stories that you can just find throughout Whispering Rock.

🐇Do you write for yourself, for others, or both?

Both.

🎬 If a movie or show were based on your fic, which fic would you choose and who would you fancast?

Probably the Nutern AU. I'd probably cast each creator as their supposed Nutern, and keep the Psychonauts characters the same. If not that... definitely the little ideas I have of the Land of Ot that Lili had to deal with.

🤩 What led to your interest in the fandom?

I saw a thumbnail of the 2nd game and remembered a YouTuber hating the Meat Circus from Psychonauts. I went in and haven't come back out.

🔮 Any advice for writers working through burnout or writer’s block?

Dealing with inspiration but no motivation - write garbage. and once you get the ideas on the page, that dam is going to burst. Motivation but no inspiration - go out and do something. Whether it be sitting in the sun, petting some nice animals, getting food at a resteraunt, and maybe write it down physically or try a new medium

What are your expectations and\or hopes on how the rest of BNHA's current arc is gonna go?

By current arc I’m going to assume that you mean this war arc - possibly the ‘final arc’ of the story; and more than hopes (at this point, the only real hope I have is for the villains’ redemptions to be handled throughout in a detailed manner) and expectations (because let’s be honest, my expectations are all likely to fall through), I have things I would like to see addressed that in my opinion would give more nuance to the story and give Hori back a little of the dignity he started losing in the last arcs (some chapters were plainly terrible).

Playing a little bit on foresight, I’d say that two are the things we are very likely to see in this arc (on which I hope HK will not disappoint): 

The Villains’ Resolution/Redemption, or better yet, the talk between the main trio and their hero counterparts, in this order: Toga, Dabi, Shigaraki. It might seem obvious (because the main, last and most dramatic and difficult part will likely go to the main characters - in this case Midoriya and Shigaraki, while the most prone to even listen to her counterpart is Toga), but in here are factored two different variables: Toga has Twice’s blood, which she will almost certainly end up using as a way to counter Hawks (currently with Endeavour, but likely to have an encounter with Dabi as well) - from which we can deduct that or Toga is going to have time on her hands after talking to Ochako (which seems unlikely) or that before that, the heroes and the villain will be going to be shuffled around a bit, mainly because of lacking support in certain areas or another events (my guess is there are going to be a lot of evolutions in terms of Quirks, leading to many of the current active pro Quirk-users to either lose their own or to evolve past their own capacity to manage the quirk - a bit similar to what we see happening to Shigaraki in this chapter with his hands); and AfO’s consciousness is still mingled with Tomura’s, and that will be a hard bundle to dissect (people with whom I discussed this with know on what my hypothesis on how this one is going to go, but I am ready to throw it around just yet, just know that Eri will probably be involved).

Change in BNHA Quirk-Supremacy Society. Well, I am probably the biggest advocate of ‘BNHA’s real villain is its rotten and elite society’, which is why I am also surreptitiously waiting for Horikoshi to finally address on how exactly he plans to implement the ripple presented by Midoriya’s change in perspective about the villains and their reasons, on a bigger scale. Certainly, saving the villains is a first step for it, but it is also not nearly enough: the public at large is distrustful at best of the villains, and disillusioned about the heroes, therefore things will not be certainly going back to the status quo, but there have not been steady steps made so that a change could be implemented (Dabi’s broadcast could have been an extremely good basis for that to happen, but it feels as if after the Hospital Arc it has been forgotten, so I am hoping for this point to be picked up again when Shouto will reach out to Touya for the umpteenth time, until he accepts and we will likely get to see Touya’s missing years and Dabi’s birth). In this perspective, this process will be slow and will have a steady pace (and also the point which makes me assume that we are going to get a time skip during the last chapters of the manga, in which we are shown the spoils of war and how society has adapted to a new truth: that there is ugliness in it, and there will always be people who are affected by it more than others). 

Now, both of these are very broad and vague, but I think that at this point, everything will either go down very quick, or what is going down will just be a build-up for the last leg of the manga (Shigaraki and Midoriya VS AfO), and as I already extensively talked on what I would like to see in the finale, I am going to repeat myself. Furthermore, we have still three points which have not been addressed by the narrative that might slightly change the course of the finale: All Might’s prophecy (I said this many times, but All Might will be one of the characters to go during this arc), Nii-Sama Quirk (looking forward to see the backstory in the Vestiges of him and Yoichi’s encounter and memories) and Midoriya’s paternal ties (is AfO his dad in the end?). For the rest, I think the bed has been made and one way or another, (we and) Horikoshi will have to lie in it.

So... How 'bout that KNY ending?

Mm. That ending, huh? (strokes chin thoughtfully)

OK but seriously, we’re nearing a year since the ending and I still haven’t completely wrapped my head around it.

It doesn’t help that the final volume bonus info had some mixed reception... concerning Sanemi and Genya for example, everyone had perfectly assumed that they were reincarnations and brothers again but then Gotouge was like lolnope, pulled a sneaky on ya.

On my part I was bummed out that Sanemi and Genya don’t get to grow up together again, because if there’s one thing we can all agree on it’s that Genya absolutely deserves to be spoiled rotten this time in order to make up for the horrible things that happened in the past.... But it’s not so bad if you think about it, because KNY is all about “bonds” after all (familial or otherwise) so I think the core nature of their relationship is unchanged. I wonder how the rest of their family factors into this though.

By the way, I prefer to think of Sanemi’s descendant as being a reincarnation of himself, because ~~reincarnation~~ is weird like that, plus there are other examples where the descendant is so obviously meant to be the spiritual successor (Senjuro’s descendant being Rengoku 2.0 for example). Not to mention he looks exactly the same. I’m curious to see what other people think though.

There are other small things I’m eh about-- like the fact that Inosuke’s descendant does eventually befriend Tanjiro’s descendant, but this is only indicated in a tiny blurb of text in the volume’s bonus content. Once the anime eventually reaches this point, I’m sure it will try to include this stuff in a credits sequence/montage like Jojo part 4 did, but like many things in KNY I wish we could actually see these interactions occur in the main story and not just in Gotouge’s headcanon corner.

Considering how everyone in the final chapter has extremely limited coverage, and considering that Sanemi and Genya aren’t main characters, I do think they got at least a decent conclusion, and the small amount of info that we do get is enough to deduce a fair bit about their lives (unlike, say, Muichiro where we basically know nothing). So all in all, I’m OK with the ending.

By the way, your ask stirred up some deep-seated guilt within me because 8 months or so ago, a nice anon sent me a series of messages asking me my thoughts on the endinf. At the time I was super prepared to type out an entire 30 page dissertation on the topic, but in the end I couldn’t articulate my thoughts well and the whole response ended up being super cringey, so I left it in my drafts which is basically the same thing as deleting it from existence.

So if by some incredibly slim chance you’re reading this E.W., I’m sorry for taking this long to own up. I really do appreciate it when people send me asks, on or off anon, and especially long rambling ones. I hope you’ve had a great year :’)

Might've already been said by someone else, but I wish there was more stuff about Bob dealing with alcohol withdrawal after the events of the game (namely, taking steps to prevent lethal degrees of it). Granted, Psychonauts' characters' bodies run on cartoon logic, so maybe it wouldn't be like in the real would, but still.

I think it would be nice to see more about Bob dealing with that too, for sure. With the level of care the alcoholism is handled as a story element I would be genuinely surprised if he didn't deal with any alcohol withdrawl.

I remember looking into alcohol withdrawal symptoms shortly after really getting Into Thinking About The Old People and something that stuck out to me in particular is how alcohol withdrawl sympotoms could start manifesting just hours after the last drink. We see a jump in time in terms of where Bob's at from "throws the distillery out" to "planning in the nerve center" so there's an inbetween spot where he might've needed help with that.

I have thoughts too about specific symptoms and like how a general timeline of Bob working through this stuff could maybe shake out but I haven't translated thoughts into art or writing much just because I also want to treat it with care. So I'm Just Thinking About It.
