See I really like to imagine semi crack AUs where Pharma doesn’t get yeeted at Delphi (idk they imprison him on the LL or something) and somehow Pharma ends up meeting Optimus because like. Listen. Optimus is “I can fix him: the character” and it would be so fucking funny for Pharma to go crying to Optimus like “blease i’m not a bad Autobot :(((( I did war crimes because I was forced to!” and Optimus listens to this whole story about the DJD and turns to Ratchet and is like: “you told Pharma that he was dead to you? You were going to just let him fall off the edge? that’s not the Autobot way :(((( “ and the whole time Pharma is sobbing into Optimus’ chest periodically stopping to smirk at Ratchet from underneath Optimus’ window tits. This scenario is immensely fucking funny to me and I can’t stop thinking about it.

Rival exes who at least pretend to not have feelings for each other Pharma and Ratchet
As old friends, Ratchet and Optimus had been privy to a lot of very… sensitive information about each other.
How each other handles hangovers, what sort of petty pranks were pulled - and, obviously, who they dated; those details were the blackmail to be used at an appropriate time.
However, with Optimus’s ex being their main enemy, it was very easy to tease the Prime over his awful dating history - with a rather obvious proof stirring up trouble every damn week. Medic knew the teasing dance steps well, how to push and pull, to make sure Optimus never gets too angry - but then again, what could he do? All of Ratchet’s flings were off-planet, unlikely to ever meet him again.
At least, that’s what he thought.
After one of rather more obvious digs at Optimus, he went back to the medbay with a joyful sense of accomplishment at the pointed glare sent his way. He had work to do, and this interaction made him happy enough that maybe the state of their supplies and available equipment will not drive him to considering taking synth-en and just going off the rails.
When Prime popped his head into the doorway and announced “There is a visitor for you, old friend” in a very cheerful tone, Ratchet did not register it at first, waving whoever was coming to enter; only after a moment he felt dread fill him as another familiar voice filled his audials.
A voice that had no place to be on Earth and would explain the sadistic glee he could now easily sense in the short message from Optimus.
“I see you are still a workaholic, old mech,” Pharma remarked, as the taller mech drew closer to where Ratchet stood by the open boxes of inventory he was inspecting. A vaguely curious look was sent towards the sparse contents, as he smiled and laughed.
“Though I am not sure what work you even have right now - there is nearly nothing here! It’s a real step-down for you, isn’t it, dear?” Pharma’s gloating tone was as irritating now as it was before, to Ratchet’s dismay.
“Don’t you ‘dear’ me, you slagger, we broke that insanity between us a long time ago - don’t start it up now, when we both know there is nothing there!” he warned, closing the lid on the box and resigning himself to not getting it done tonight.
Not like it mattered - he did it too often anyways, procedure-wise. As much as he loathed to say it, Pharma was on the dot with the workaholic diagnosis; he kept busy despite there being so little to do, it was driving him crazy. Should there be a real emergency, he would be unable to provide the necessary care.
He needed to double down on Fowler to get them at least some supplies he could try to re-model into some of their more advanced equipment.
Maybe if he stole the agent’s credit card, he could get something off the Internet…
Pharma’s laugh got him reaching automatically for a wrench to throw at his stupid face, when his arm got grabbed into a strong, unyielding hold. The taller bot crowded Ratchet closer to the boxes, getting into his personal space as if it was still within his right - after all those years!
“Oh, of course, Ratchet, we are over,” he drawled, leaning close enough that his ex-vents were registering on the shorter medic’s audials, as he continued.
“And there is nothing you feel for me, nor I for you, for that matter - isn’t that right?” he asked, hint of mirth at the fact that the mech below him was warming up despite a cross look on his face. The years of dating cured Pharma of any influence Ratchet’s angry glares could do - they were adorable to him now, truly.
Just like that hint of blush he coils see forming on the other’s face.
“I am glad we got that one straight then,” growled Ratchet, as he ignored his frame’s reactions, attributing them to the surprise more than anything else.
“Whatever helps you recharge, Ratchet,” he chuckled, drawing back, letting the other free from the harsh grip. “Because we both know I am too good for you anyways,” he added, as the shorter bot froze and started visibly shaking in anger.
“You? Too good for me?!” he hissed out, ready to throw whatever he had around at the prick smiling at him with condescension. “You are insane! And it was not me leaving long voicemail messages, begging to come back to being together, you aft!” The box that flew toward the other was side-stepped just in time with a loud laugh.
“That’s it, you need to go, I can’t look at your stupid face without wanting to break my oaths,” Ratchet barked out, as he took hold of the other and started pushing him towards the exit, the taller medic relenting in the end with an air of superiority.
The slagger was humoring him, like he was a sparkling throwing a tantrum!
“Ah, Pharma, I trust you had a pleasant reunion with our CMO,” exclaimed Optimus, as they emerged from the corridor to the base proper.
“Yes, Prime, it was good to speak again to such an old… acquaintance,” the taller medic said, sending over a pleasant smile.
Ratchet loathed it with all of his spark.
“Will you be staying long? We would not mind providing you shelter, if you are in need of one,” offered Optimus with glee, to the surprise of the humans and bots alike.
Oh, he will weld Prime’s faceplates to his interface array for this, Ratchet promised to himself, as Pharma looked at the Autobot leader’s expression, CMO’s anger, and concluded that the situation was fully in his favor; he smiled wider, bowing his head slightly in a gesture of thanks.
“You know what, I think I should stay, show you all how a real medic works - one that is not old enough to fall asleep during an ‘operation’,” Pharma bragged, putting emphasis on the last word with such an obvious innuendo, it made the medic glitch for a moment, blush on the faceplates burning high at the one time disaster night they shared after one of his longest time in the OR.
“It was one time!” he snarled, turning with an aggressive jab of the digit aimed at the others sensitive wings, as Optimus held him back, putting on his most Prime’ish ‘all is well, all is peace’ expression - like the angry medic in his arms was not straining to launch himself at their new addition to the team with an intention of extreme violence.
“We will settle you in then - Arcee, please lead our guest to the spare berthroom, the one by Ratchet’s,” the blue and red mech said, pulling the medic along, as Pharma smirked and turned towards the femme, who waved at him to follow her.
“... Anyone senses some… tension?” Jack asked, turning towards Miko and Raf sitting on the couch, playing a video game.
“You kids don’t know the gist of it,” mumbled Fowler, who stood not far away, checking his phone for any fresh Vehicon gossip; he had already managed to get some information down from some of the angry rants between Prime and Ratchet to know just who Pharma was and why Optimus was so eager to have him around.
He sighed, and resigned himself to create another file for the newcomer - he might as well get one up for the mysterious ‘Tarn’ he saw mentioned on the groupchat; with his luck, the arrival of both in the similar time frame was not a coincidence…

So I'm not sure if Optiratch Week is happening this year cause I couldn't find any prompts but I'll finish for last year.
As always no edits.
(Day 1)|| (Day 2: Duty)|| (Day 3)
In which Optimus Prime is crowned a Prime and finds out the extent of his friend's service to the legacy.
Today was the coronation of the new crowned, Optimus Prime and the official duties of legalizing the mech to power were drawing to a close. Now came the worst part, the part in which the other Primes would present gifts to their new equal.
Duty. This was his duty. It was drilled into his head from the moment Nova Prime chose to sponsor his Medical Education. Ratchet responsibility as a medic is to his patients but as a person. He belonged to whomever Nova Prime choose.
Standing by Nova Prime, he was dolled up to the elevens. Precious metals folded, twisted, and melted together to make the most elegant crown, necklaces and collars. Jewels stolen from other citys, cultures, and off world civilizations adoring his frame to look presentable. A veil so thick in fabric not even camera's flashing would expose his face. Lace so immaculately woven together, the most ardent clock makers would be jealous of it's intricate detail.
Humiliation creeping into his field. Once again he is all but leashed, ready to be handed off to service another Prime.
Optimus Prime walks up the stairs that would allow him to reach the home of his Matrix's Legacy. The palace assigned to all holders of Micronus Prime's Marix of Leadership. Nova bowes, acknowledging him as an equal. "I as the oldest Prime, bestow upon you the title of Optimus Prime." He then hands him the key to the Primordial home. "As Prime I gift to you this palace. Former residency of Nominus Prime. Historical home of Micronus, you Optimus Prime are to serve the people here."
Then Ratchet feels a tug on his arm, his signal to bow. He bends as low as physically possible, he is not allowed to grovel at his new master's feet, least the public see him disrespectfully dirty his outfit. "As Nova, I ask of you to please take care of Nominus' widowed lover."
Optimus places his hands above his, attempting to make eye contact but his veil coveres his face. "You may stay as long as needed." Quiet, just to reassure him that he is welcomed to stay in the place that houses his belongings.
"Thank you, My Prime." Ratchet then stand up, all of Cybertron cheers for the era of thier new Prime and the two of them head towards the home.
Ratchet directs the two of them into the main floor of the museum. There the staff fill the halls with applause and congratulations. Optimus waves back giving his thank yous, he is much more shy here than at the ceremony. They walk to the off limits area in the back.
Ratchet points to the key Optimus was given. Using it to open the gates they climb up to the residency area. Opening to the main chamber they turn to face each other.
"I'm sure that you must be saddened by the lost of your Conjux Endra." Optimus moves to clasp both their hands together, comforting. "You may take all the time that you need until you feel ready."
Ratchet lifts his head to meet his eyes, using his shoulder to move the veil off his face. "Thank you Prime, but Nominus and I were never Bonded."
"Ratchet?" Prime, then grips his chin. "You and he-", anger rises in his field. "I thought when you said you had a long term partner it was Pharma not-" Optimus released his hold. "My apologies. My anger is not on you." He gives a long sigh, "I will look into it, but I promise you Ratchet that I will get you out of your servitude."
"Serving you is my duty." Ratchet then pulls on two of Prime's finger. "But I'll be happy if you do cut it." He gives him a small smile.
-----
It had been a while since Optimus became Prime and he finally finished all of the legalizing of his power. He even read into all of the documents of all the assets he would inherit and in there was Ratchet's service.
He would have liked to crush it, delete it and have it scrubbed for all history but that honor was for Ratchet alone. Speaking of which...
"Good morning, Orion-- I mean Optimus. I hope that you've gotten your footing as Prime." Ratchet says as he enters the dining area and sits at the chair across from him. After telling Ratchet that he was originally Orion Pax the mech would use the name on accident.
"I do not mind in the slightest if you continue to call me that." Prime takes a sip from his cube. A small smile slips on his face. He kinda hopes that Ratchet would make the name a habit.
"Yeah, okay." They sit in silence as the finish their meal. Nothing but the clink of the cubes making noise. To most this would be awkward, but with Ratchet it felt comfortable.
Before all of this, Orion would guess there was something between them. It was a feeling past friendship, deeper, maybe even romantic. Had he not become Prime, he might have even thought asking him out.
Of course now Ratchet was a slave to him, and he could never force intimacy. "This is for you." Optimus takes the data pad from the table and hands it to Ratchet. "It contains the last documentation of your servitude."
Ratchet turns it on, expression dumb founded. "I'm not sure I follow Prime."
"I managed to write you out of my inheritance. Meaning you will no longer be bound to me."
"Are you saying..."
"Ratchet. You a free mech." Optimus then touches his hand. "The contract is broken and if you wish it you can finally leave this place."
Tears form around Ratchet's eyes as his grip on the pad tightens. The sound of the glass breaking could be heard, while Ratchet himself is still. "I-", he finally looks at Optimus. "Thank you. I'm not sure why you do this for me, but thank you."
They look into each other's eyes, "Because I love you."

Lost Light: *appears in the legendary dimension*
Prowl, for CD:*growls*
Optimus: you, and the others, better not even think about biting! We don't know where it went
Lost light:O_o
Hahaha.
Prowl wouldn't necessarily growl at Chromedome, but he would definitely be uncomfortable and avoided having him at his back or being alone whenever possible. Now Skywarp, who gets stuck with Prowl and experiences the same mind control and becomes kinda friends? Her? She would growl and definitely bite.
Prowl would not stop her.
The Lost Light would be pretty fun to interact with Legendarium, especially depending on timing it would have interesting results. Rodimus would probably have a trip realizing both that people have moms in this universe and that Ratchet and Drift were his.
Megatron would probably have a lot of feelings about the Decepticons and how their actions in this war differentiated from his. I don't think either he or Rodimus would know how to handle Optimus, who is significantly warmer, but odder than IDW Optimus.
Most of them would be thrown by Prowl, and there would probably be a bot of conflict about him until they get it clear how different he is to theirs. Made most obvious, of course, by both his extended family and spider husband and the Seeker that keeps teleporting and laying across his desk or kidnapping him in turns for "girls night" which is a term Skywarp picked up and uses any time she wants to socialize.
First Aid is definitely going to cry when he sees Ambulon, who is just going to be frozen looking desperately at the Ratchets or Rodimuses or Pharma for rescue at the stranger who kinda looks like a Protectobot that sobbing over him while he is holding drinks trying to cross the bar. Pharma eventually trying to interfere will likely cause another scene for different reasons.

If you're interested to read the disjointed, rambling Ratchet mini analysis I wrote during my lunch break today, then buckle up kids:
Idk if this is canon or fanon but I love the idea that Ratchet, while a fantastic doctor, still struggled in establishing himself post residency bc of his attitude (and his superiors being intimidated by his skill and intellect), and that the reason he was made CMO of the Prime (Nova, I believe) was bc he didn't play politics and Nova wanted an excellent physician who would treat him without ulterior motives. Being the Prime's doctor is a big fucking deal, but Ratchet was still just a medic, he wasn't like... known for all of the things he became known for during the war. Folks knew he was picked bc he was a political nobody, but the general public didnt know how talented he was. Then Orion became a prime and chose Ratchet as his CMO (bc Optimus knew Ratchet wouldn't ever say no to him, as his friend, and he wanted to exploit that), and he was forced to become an Icon, he was supposed to represent all of what a medic could be, he was the miracle worker, the mech with the magic hands, the bot who could rip a mech's spark back from Mortillus himself. He stopped being his own person as soon as he took OP's "offer" to be the Autobot CMO, and thats a bit part of why he held onto the title so fiercely, even after the war was over: he didnt want/couldnt trust anyone else to live the way he did, to fill that impossible role. Least of all his apprentice!! First Aid was more than capable of being the CMO, but Ratchet didnt wanna put that on the kids shoulders. Plus, after 4 million years, Ratchet didnt have an identity outside of being Autobot CMO. He was nothing. A walking miracle worker, the best of the best, but he wasn't Ratchet, he was a walking Symbol that he and Optimus created.
Another reason why he was su1c1dal at the start of MTMTE. The war was over, they didnt need an Autobot CMO anymore, just a CMO to the Prime. And with his hands failing, that Symbol was shattered and he could no longer fill that role. He was nothing without his hands. He couldn't perform the same miracles as he did during the war, when he saved Optimus' spark again and again and again when the mech was barely more than a smudge on the tarmac.
He joined the Lost Light to find someone who would be willing and capable of being a new symbol. Not First Aid, not the kid (despite how insanely talented and ingenius he is), but... someone else. A fool's errand, maybe, but he was going to continue working until he literally couldn't anymore, regardless.
Tumblr media
Im just! Thinking a lot about Ratchet and how much the war took from him. Not just the millions of mechs he couldn't save or who died anyway after he fixed them, but what it took from him personally.
and THEN, when he finally found happiness, JRO took one last fucking jab at him by having his body just. Stop. Like, as soon as he finds some inner peace and moves outside of the CMO role with someone who loves him for who he is, after he replaces his failing hands, after seemingly moving past all of the trauma that Pharma caused him, he fucking beefs it. So needless! So hurtful!
it further established for Drift that he's meant to be alone, that anyone close to him will get hurt: he's lost every single person he ever trusted or was close to??? And Ratchet never thought he'd see the end of the war, he acted as a reminder of how fucking hard the war was on old bots. He saw Cybertron in its Golden Age, saw it fall, saw the war through every stage, until it finally ended. He never thought hed make it that far! He survived, by some miracle. Even the LL was supposed to be his swan song, but he found??? Love??? Someone who saw past his gruff exterior and scaled his emotional walls and loved him for the mech he was, not the Infamous Miracle Worker with the magic hands. They both found happiness against all odds and it was ripped away!!! For nothing!! For shock value!!

Idw Prowl is an evil SOB (took him two years to send the Wreckers to Garrus-9 and help Maxy (who was protecting all the war crimes the Bots did), put Maxy’s torturer and a war criminal on board the Lost Light cuz why not, sent Pharma to Delphi knowing it was DJD territory)
Prowl... Prowl’s creation and competence in his area of work is astounding. He is brilliant, creative, and defiantly apathetic of this world. But, he is very human in his own way. IDW Prowl is selfish, yet not. He is a unique in that aspect because most people make decisions like his for the sole reason of benefiting themselves. But Prowl’s sole reason of existing is to create PEACE.
Peace. Peace can only be done when people are complacent, happy, and satisfied. When things are stationary. Stable.
But life is never stable. Elements desire to form bonds, yet are almost always leaning towards to instability... Prowl’s form of PEACE is a world where there is no fighting. But everything sentient requires to fulfill its desires. As long as there is desire, people will fight.
A world of PEACE would be a world of full control, there are no surprises, no change. Safety, routines, and constants. No creativity, no development... nothing. stagnant.
But I must admire Prowl’s tenacity and dedication to this world!
He sacrifices everything for the sake of the directive, preserve cybertron, PEACE. He sacrifices his morals (Robot Gets Bullied By a Human), his dignity (Recent News, Cop Accepts Orgy For The Means of Establishing Peace, his body (Recent News, Cop gets Molested by A Spider for The Autobot Cause), and of course, thousands of lives (Not Recent News). :D Prowl respects and understands that there will always be chaos and instability, and he is so very flexible around it all! He literally can maximize everything and anything he has. He is the embodiment of consequentialism with a lil dash of politics. I wish my group project members were 1% as productive as him! Prowl tries to put everything black and white, and he gets upset when things get far more tricky, and wants to get everything in control so people can stay safe and remain in peace and not fight! And that’s a respectable goal! Control can be good, it means one understands and is able to retain themselves and the thing they are controlling. But Prowl doesn’t want to accept that there are things out of his control. And Prowl likes to think he’s justified when he controls the uncontrollable.
I mean, yeah, if he didn’t do what he did, the autobots would have been six feet under A LOT EARLIER. Optimus is not a good leader, preserving organic life over his own soldiers? Psh. Look at Spike, he’s got valid points and can I understand why he left the ‘bots. Prowl’s probably thinking everyday, DAMN, OP, WHY R U SO DUMB. LISTEN WE NEED TO FEED OUR SOLDIERS AND PRIORITIZE OUR SPECIES LIVES INSTEAD OF THIS FUCKING CARBON BASED CIRCLE. HELLO??? And literally Prowl could have been like I’m gonna get ya assassinated so I CAN HAVE IT MY WAY. But Prowl was BORN for the RULES. To follow, to MAKE PEACE. Killing the prime figurehead is against that, even if it would make his life way easier! (hence, not that selfish and also sad that your life is the rules. That’s a short leash, but he makes due)
Honestly I feel bad for Prowl. Must suck to be so big brain that everyone hates you when you say the truths (but also you could learn some more tricks from Jazz to be nicer and hide the truth, but that’s scary because a nicer prowl means more people he can trick and use. Thanks Prowl for being so straightforward! Now people can avoid you easier). He's so straightforward about things that need to be done, he’s in constant denial about the grey area of life!
That’s why when Spike slapped Prowl with reality slaps, Prowl lost some of his shit. Remember, nearly everyone had the edgy depressed time in their teens or young adult years where you realize the world is truly unfair and nothing is black and white? Yeah. Slap that on a 6+ million year old robot with a battle computer and is capable of big brain CPU-age, and was literally built for the sole purpose of enforcing rules and making peace? And no one really cared about Prowl enough to understand him and his background. So Prowl goes through his angst moment alone with his huge titties, frustrated. THIS. IS. WHY. YOU. COMMUNICATE. YA DINGUS.
Prowl doesn’t become a school shooter like Pharma cuz hes got bigger brain and a lot more power and control over himself, but he literally becomes Shadow The Hedgehog (Even if the world’s against me I’ll fight like I’ve always have). HE’S GONE ROGUE. MA’AM, SIR, THE FUCKING OREO COOKIE HAS TRANSFORMED AND ROLLED OUT.  like. OP was the one thing holding prowl back, which was good! But now prowl’s on the roll and bumblebee is too nice and passive to hold him back. + the bombshell brainwash? feels so bad. being prowl sucks. because Prowl is a necessary evil.
At least he’s wonderfully blunt about his goal to create a peaceful cybertron, which makes it easier if you want to avoid him or smth. meanwhile you have fake people IRL that smile their way through and then slit your throat and you won’t even know it was them (hey jazz, no offense, but that’s what spec ops does). Fakers are the scariest enemy, but Prowl is still a threat, just not as big as a someone who fluffs you up on a balloon and then pops it. Prowl would just be like, hey, you’re really useful, come over here in my white van i wanna show you something and then maybe you get destroyed. But hey! You were the one with the highest chance of surviving compared to other people! Isn’t that great? You’re so skilled WOW. (Prowl gets punched. Again!) Prowl represents the necessary evil in society. We WILL ALWAYS HAVE EVIL people in this world. But Prowl is a far better evil than people who do evil for their own selfish reasons. It’s like how we have law enforcers and politicians . It’s basically giving them legal rights to do illegal things (lmao). BUT we need them regardless. We need those people to get their hands dirty, possibly killed, so that people can live in innocence and peace.
I don’t think Prowl ever realized that he was a necessary evil, and when Spike showed him that, he was bitter. But he accepted it. Which I respect because most people can’t be bothered to understand themselves and just throw themselves in denial, and point fingers for their flaws. Prowl sucks up and understands who he is, and he makes the best of it to achieve his goal.  I mean, honestly? Prowl is probably a miracle worker. Not in a Ratchet sense. But look at the way modern governments run, nothing gets done, everything is stalled because no one has the guts to make sacrifices. Prowl would have gotten a shit ton of things done, man, and take quick efficient action. Even if he sacrifices many things for it.  (Warning. I do not condone any taking of lives, NO ONE has the right to judge whenever a person should live or die.)  Prowl reminds me of 秦始皇 (Qin Shi Huang), the king who unified China and sacrificed millions to make the Great Wall, canals, and road systems that last to this day. If it wasn’t for these accomplishments, China wouldn’t have been what it is today. Was it a good thing? For the future residents of China? Hell yeah. But the costs? Those are sins that can never be erased, and they are horrible and shouldn't be done ever again. Was it necessary? Perhaps. But that’s another discussion. Is Prowl evil? Depends on your definition of evil. Perhaps he’s justified, perhaps in his world, he’ll go down as the Qin Shi Huang of the Cybertronians. Regardless, Prowl like Pharma, is an EXCELLENT example to study on public ethics, and administrative officials should analyze him and learn from his mistakes and sins.  I think Prowl is not evil in a sense that he wishes to harm others, but evil in a sense of his apathy. Prowl is a necessary component to a functional society (someone to plot, to use people, to enforce rules even if some are sacrificed, someone who can get their hands dirty). He lives a terrible and sad fate, and I do not wish ANYONE to live a life like Prowl’s or look up to Prowl. Yes, he’s so clever and brilliant, but that kind of power will make you the loneliest person on Earth.
Thanks Prowl for taking the entire load of sin on your shoulders! Big MVP! You get nothing from the world except hate and contempt.  I would go on about him more but I have IRL stuff to do. I love Prowl as an example to tell people that MODERATION. COMMUNICATION. AND COMPASSION are important factors to have a healthy and good mental state. Prowl is the perfect example of someone who doesn’t want to empathize (haha so many people are like this today), who doesn’t want to try to use more braincells and friends help to make better plans that are more moderate and not extreme, and who doesn’t want to talk to anyone thinking its a waste of time or have difficulty explaining things.  BUT I LOVE G1 PROWL because he has far more patience and manners, and doesn’t take a darker, route for his goals. awhohdohd he’s baby,,, i wish all cops had patience and manners and in general open-minded yet cautious enough not to be taken advantage of,,,, perhaps then we wouldn’t have so much polarization and fighting with authority in this world....
uwuwwuwuwuw they did prowl so dirty in idw WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ;____;   Again, you are welcome to disagree or agree! I wrote this really quickly so I’m sure there will be points that could be clarified or edited. Prowl’s really complicated and I do not like to talk about current IRL problems, but Prowl represents a lot of problems in society. And I think it’s critical if we try to look at both perspectives to get an understanding on WHY people do these things, and is there a solution to AVOID making those same mistakes? There’s a couple of controversial things in this short essay I wrote, esp. about cops IRL. So feel free to have at it! Or ignore it! Whichever is more comfortable for you! Thanks for coming to my ted talk! Again, Prowl is a bad influence and a sorrowful life to live. please do not try to be like prowl. xD I won’t intrude on you if you do, because you have a right to live the life you want as long as you’re not hurting other people’s interests and wellbeing!

kin for Ratchet?
KIN: Do you have any relatives or close friends? What are they to you?
Ratchet seems almost surprised when Optimus shows him the message on his datapad, as if he wasn’t expecting anyone to pay attention to him.
“Cybertronians don’t exactly have relatives in the way humans do most of the time, the major exceptions I can think of being spark-twins and co-forged mechs, not that there are many of the latter. As for close friends... Well, before the war, I wasn’t exactly a social bot,” Ratchet says, “I put my work above just about everything. I did have a few patients I knew better than others, but for the most part, I kept to myself. It wasn’t until I started going to the early reformation movement rallies, before the Decepticons and Autobots were even a twinkle in anybody’s optics, that I started making friends.
“If I had to name a few close friends, I suppose Optimus would count as one. I’ve known him since before he was a Prime. He was-- and still is-- an inspiration, not to mention one of the best bots I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing,” Ratchet looks pointedly at Optimus. “Of course, he could stand to accept help more often. Medical help especially.”
Ignoring Optimus’ sputtered attempt at a defense, Ratchet continues, “Other than him and Elita-1, most of the others I’m close to are my fellow medics. First Aid, Ambulon-- even if he was a Decepticon for a millennia or two--, Hoist, and Pharma, though I suspect that last one may be... less than thrilled about me having to leave him behind. Regardless, other than that, I don’t have many--”
“What about Red Alert?” Arcee chimes in, startling both the older bots in the room. “You seemed pretty friendly with him back on Cybertron.”
“I was only friendly towards him-- him and Inferno-- because of how often they were in my medical bay!” Ratchet sighs. “Regardless, I... don’t exactly have many friends. There isn’t exactly much time for socializing when you’re a medic during wartime. Of course, that doesn’t mean I don’t care for people, but, well... this has gone on long enough, and I have work to do.”

TFMR Character Backstory Dev: Ratchet
Optimus Prime -> [X]
Bee & Arcee -> [X]
Whirl -> [X]
Mirage -> [X]
Here's some bits about Ratchet's backstory. Some of these will make it to the final character profile, but things that are not very relevant to the main plot will be altered or deleted.
Tumblr media
Ratchet
At first, he was looking for military career
Met Optimus during this period, and has been bff since then
Had been successful in his military career, but then one day he learned that taking enemy's life isn't equal to saving his friend's life. In a very hard way.
So he dropped out from military and decided to become a medic.
Which he succeeded, to everyone’s surprise
Was a pediatrician/pediatric surgeon before the war, so unlike his seemingly grumpy attitude he’s actually good with young ones (both human and cybertronian)
War happened, and instead of joining military or taking sides he worked at medical outposts for non-affiliated cybertronians
War became wors, and he had to work with Autobots because they were the ones who actually cared about neutrals and therefore supported medical outposts. Still, he refused to take sides because a spark is a spark no matter what.
But then the Delphi incident happened
Pharma, one of the Autobot medical officer who was sent to provide help, had actually been using neutral patients for her experiments. When her actions has been found out, she decided to wipe out then entire Delphi outpost with her nanite-virus. Many patients died. Ambulon was killed. Ratchet lost an eye, and nearly got killed because of the nanite-virus.
when he heard Pharma became a Decepticon, he seriously considered joining Decepticons just to get a chance at revenge. But then OP persuaded him. Taking enemy’s life is not equal to saving friend’s life. He can spend his time to either take one person’s life, or save many more.
Ratchet chose the latter and joined the Autobots.
Has been team OP’s chief medical officer since then
After arrival on Earth, he met a government agent from human’s side
Then he learned that she was a single mom who had a year old baby daughter
Provided help using his experience as pediatrician, which was surprisingly working with human babies as well
But then the baby developed terminal illness. Even with the medical science of 2300 A.D., there was no way the baby could live more than few weeks. Mom devastated, and Ratchet was also sparkbroken at the fact that there was no way he could help.
Unless... if he could [SPOILER EXPUNGED], and then modify it a bit to [SPOILER EXPUNGED].....
[SPOILER EXPUNGED].....
Sucess! the baby lives!
However, his new breakthrough in human medicine had to be kept as a secret from OP or anyone, because what he did was considered very unethical by Cybertronian standards. Technically, what he did was on the same level as what Pharma did to the patients at Delphi outpost.
But the baby is happy... and the mom is also very happy... so everything is fine??? he’s not sure about long-term effects of his procedure, but everyone’s happy at the moment...
As a newspark, he was very hard to deal with. Stubborn, angry, doesn’t know how to give up.

Shattered Chapter 1
Disclaimer : I don’t own Transformers Animated or any characters for that matter.
Notes : I haven’t done fanfiction, let alone TF based, in ages. And never for TFA, So I don’t really know what the hell I’m doing but what the hell, I’m going for it. lol I took quite a few liberties, pulling bits from various continuities to build this sucker.
Warnings : I have a tendency to put characters through hell. Violence and character death this chapter. Eventual Optimus/Sentinel, Megatron/Ultra Magnus, Bumblebee/Blitzwing, Jazz/Prowl and Ratchet/Pharma.
Summary : The road to hell is paved with good intentions, but Sentinel’s latest stunt might just kill them all...or worse.
The Fringes had to be the worst possible place to put a space bridge. On the very edge of Autobot territory, it took a regular beating from the Decepticons and even anti-Cybertronian organics. Crews came and went during its construction and maintenance, at times never making it back to Cybertron at all. For the most part, the disappearances were blamed on the Cons. It was a dangerous assignment that wasn't helped in the slightest if the crew assigned were full of incompetent or delinquent workers,  which was typically the case as no one with a whole procoessor would settle for the post.
Sentinel Prime knew Alpha Trion  sent him out here in particular as punishment, pure and simple. After the unmitigated fiasco Megatron's trial had been, he'd not only lost his position as Magnus but as second-in-command as well. He was bumped all the way down to repair duty with a group of fools and sent off to the Fringes. Naturally, he was angry. He was angry with the Decepticons for living up to their cursed name, at Alpha Trion, and at Optimus for not only upstaging him with the Powermaster armor but for taking his job afterward. He was humiliated and bitter. His team didn't help make the situation much better.
There were four other bots on the large rockbound base with him. Broadside was one of few triple changers in their ranks who could turn into a plane and a sea craft...but he was deathly afraid of both heights and water. Sentinel had no idea how that was feasibly possible, but he imagined the bot would have a spark attack on Earth when the rain came. Second was Landfill, and despite being a decent soldier and overall nice guy, he lived up to his name. Quite literally. Sentinel had no idea where the stench was emanating from on the mech's person and it was almost insulting that the mech couldn't pick it up himself. The whole team kept a wide distance from him at all times. Sentinel knew he could be whiny at times himself, but Huffer took the oil cake. He took the oil cake and complained the whole time he ate it at that. He avoided literally everything difficult, whining about it for good measure and he was the most likely bot Sentinel was going to throttle one day.
The only member of the team worth anything was the medic and truth be told, Sentinel had major concerns about the mech. Dark rumors from Delphi on Messatine followed this bot after his experimental jet upgrades following the success of the twins. Pharma had apparently glitched in the processor and hard from the procedures, not only setting a plague loose on the facility, but sawing a Decepticon defector that recently joined their ranks in half. Length ways. After some orbital cycles under intensive therapy, the doctor was cleared for limited duty and shipped off with him out to the Fringes, away from the good people of Cybertron in case he lost it again. There were a few times the Prime caught his medic giggling in an alarming manner and even talking to himself, so Sentinel wasn't entirely comfortable with his presence. But Pharma was the best in the field, so he prayed it panned out well for them.
"Can you not figure out why Landfill stinks so bad? What kind of doctor are you?" Huffer whined, shaking Sentinel out of his thoughts rudely. They stood gathered at the base of the space bridge, surveying the damage recently wrought by an agitated Deception that had attacked in passing.
"Last time I checked, it was my job to make sure you don't offline and continue to function optimally...Not help you smell like fragging rosewood." Pharma hissed, brandishing an inactive saw in place of his left hand at the minibot. "And if you don't shut up, I will ram this up your tail pipe and turn it on!"
Sentinel snorted. At least he didn't have to babysit the doctor.  He glanced up at the patchwork space bridge, the south pole smoking the hit and run. It happened frequently and it was damned annoying. "Could you all just pipe down so we can fix this and get it over with?" He scowled at the rest of the team.
"But...But that's so high up..." Broadside frowned.
"Oh for frag's sake..." Pharma rolled his optics, hands thrown in the air. "You have a plane alt-mode. What is your malfunction?!"
"At least it isn't as bad as yours-" Sentinel could appreciate Huffer's brave attempt at snark, but the screaming that followed it as the jet transformed and proceeded to run the minibot down in retaliation just ground further on his nerves.
Landfill called from a few yards away. "Permission to come closer?"
"Permission denied." Sentinel grumbled. "Go, I don't know...Scout the area or something, make sure the Cons don't set anything unwelcome up."
"SIR YES SIR!" Obviously happy to have his orders, the truck changed forms and drove off to scout around. The asteroid was sizable, so it would almost be a mega cycle before he swung back their way.
After knocking Huffer violently into a hole that would likely take him a few cycles to climb out of, Pharma returned to the pair, gracefully transforming as he dropped down. If the slagger wasn't so crazy, Sentinel would be tempted to talk him into a casual frag or two. He was quite the piece of optic candy, the only piece available really. But the jet prattled on in the worst way about Ratchet of all people, so he doubted he would have much luck. "Enjoy yourself? Because we have work to do." Sentinel grumbled.
"I'm a medic, not a mechanic." Pharma groused back, examining his fingertips.
"It's the same damn thing." The Prime held up his hand as his comment almost earned him a scathing lecture about the differences. "I don't want to hear it. Get this scaredy-bot up there somehow and take care of it while I get Huffer! And that's an order if you need clarification!"
He ignored as Pharma acted like he asked him to move the moon, turning away in favor of fishing Huffer out of his hole so they could get to work at the base of the structure. Beyond the upkeep of the space bridge, which would be their way home in case things went south where they were, he couldn't be bothered with improvements to the troops. They were good soldiers, for the most part, but personality flaws were a pain in the aft to try and work over. Besides, he didn't necessarily mind so long as the work got done, his mind was elsewhere anyway. All he could think about were his recent failures and how he was going to get back up in the ranks, at least enough to get positioned back on Cybertron. It was glaringly obvious Optimus would be following in Ultra Magnus's footsteps and he doubted the golden mech was going anywhere any time soon.
Sentinel sighed to himself, crouching at the edge of the hole for a moment. He was finding it hard to stay angry at Optimus, at least a little. Of course, the business with Elita-1 was always at the heart of his ire, but somehow seeing what she had become and the horrible things she was out there doing like what happened to Wasp had tempered it. When Optimus had taken Megatron down and brought the remaining Decepticons back to Cybertron, he had to admit his old friend looked like he had been dragged through the slag pits. He found it hard to imagine what it was like in that battle and he sometimes wondered if he would have had as much mettle to duke it out with the tyrant in the fragging air as he had. The disgraced Prime wasn't exactly a slouch in combat simulations, but he wasn't nearly as battle-hardened as Optimus. His optics flickered thoughtfully, coming out of his musings when he realized he wasn't absently listening to Huffer complain. "Huffer?"
The hole was empty. Turning on his headlights to examine the small pit better, it looked to turn into a tunnel that dipped down after a solid foothold. He could even see where Huffed had hit the edge and likely slid his way deeper into the asteroid. Sentinel let out a long, suffering sigh. Now he had to go searching for the little pest.
<Good job, Pharma. You knocked him Primus knows where.> Sentinel scowled as he climbed down into the hole.
<Well, I say good riddance.>
<That tower better be patched by the time I drag him out.> His threat was answered with some mild grumbling. After reaching the foothold, he slid down into the tunnel, sliding for several yards before he was struck by an odd sense of vertigo. His HUD exploded with warnings on a somewhat muffled and unknown energy reading that was turning his systems on their head. Sentinel grimaces, digging his fingers into the rock to stop himself. 'Woah, that's not right...' His knees shook as he tried to collect himself. He noticed there were spidery veins of glowing violet embers visible in the cracks and further down, there were large chunks of what reminded him of raw crystallized energon that grew in abundance deeper in. Tank churning, Sentinel hurriedly climbed his way back out, thankful that getting topside cleared up his readings.
"Ugh..." Sentinel shook his head, glancing back. <Pharma, what the hell is underground in this rock?>
<How am I supposed to know? I'm a doctor. DOC-TOR. Not a digger. Landfill is the geologist specialist. Why?>  After Sentinel explained what he ran into, Pharma sounded far too fascinated for his taste. <Odd. I don't suppose you brought a sample back out with you, did you?>
<Frag no. You think I want to touch that stuff?> Sentinel made a face. Of course, now they had a new problem. <Huffer, come in.> There was silence from the minibot. <We can't leave him down there...Whatever is down there.>
<Well, I'm not going down there and getting my circuits fried. They're already bad enough as it is...>
The Prime ran a servo over his face, sighing. No, he didn't need Pharma going postal on them. Resting his elbow into his servo, he gently tapped the knuckles of his free servo against his chin as he considered what to do. There weren't many reports on the innards of the large asteroid they were on, the ones there were mostly belonged to the teams who never survived their assignment and even then, there wasn't much to them. The reports got progressively more erratic prior to their stopping completely. Given what he felt when he was down there, Sentinel mused whether the energy from the crystals had been a bigger problem than realized. It was a suspicion he was going to have to put in his report.
Pharma and Broadside returned to him. "...Well?" The medic crossed his arms, head tilted.
"...I guess we're leaving him down there." Sentinel frowned. It wasn't a great call, but he didn't want the whole team to be the next crew to go MIA. That wouldn't look good for him. "If he's all right, he'll find his way out."
"And if he's not...?" Broadside didn't look pleased.
"Then...we'll...send a report he went missing. If we find him, we find him...But I'm not sending anyone down there and don't even think about arguing with me about it. I don't know what the frag is down there and I don't really want to. It felt all kinds of wrong."
"But you're just going to leave Huffer down there?" The triple changer pressed before he glowered at Pharma. "And what about him? This psychopath was the one who knocked him in there in the first place!"
"In my defense, I thought it was a simple hole." Pharma sniffed.
Sentinel shook his head. "No one is going down there till we have more information, now let's deal with the rest of these repairs. And Primus willing, the Cons will let us call it a solar cycle."
~+~
Sentinel returned to the Axalon after sending Broadside and Pharma out to hunt for Landfill when the truck never returned to the post. They'd never had an issue with someone patrolling around alone until now. It left the Prime uncertain if it was at all connected with Huffer's disappearance...or those of past crews. It was possible the bot could have been picked off by the Decepticons, but then Sentinel was sure Landfill would have called for backup if that were the case. He went digging into the base's old files as he compiled his own report, pausing when it sounded like company had joined him. Glancing over his shoulder, he saw Pharma.
And only Pharma.
"...Please tell me you didn't kill Broadside." Sentinel muttered flatly.
The medic gave him an offended look. "No. I did not. He ran off on his own, thank you very much."
"And why did you not stay with him?" He demanded in exasperation.
"Because the daft fragger decided to take a cave tunnel down to go look for that idiot Huffer. That's why." Pharma scowled back at him. "I started to follow him in, when I started to feel what you described and heard voices so I decided to backtrack and report in. This infernal rock is probably layered with particular metals and stone that keep the underground contained below because he wasn't responding to his infernal comm-link after I backed out of the cave."
Well, that explained why Huffer hadn't answered him. But something was bothering him about this situation. Something was putting a bad twist in his tank. "...Lock down the Axalon." Pharma gave him a perplexed look before he shrugged and the two of them set about doing so. Once the ship was sealed off, he felt only somewhat better.
"What is with you...?"
"Not sure...I just have this feeling there is something weird going on and it's bugging the hell out of me."
Pharma frowned, scratching his chin thoughtfully. He supposed his Prime had a point. There was something unsettling about their team's disappearances. He had a feeling even a brief exposure to whatever was below ground had helped unnerve them. "You know..." Pharma began thoughtfully, looking out the bridge window. "The Decepticons never really touch down here or properly engage. It's always passing aerial strikes. Do you suppose they are wary of the asteroid?"
Sentinel's optics flickered with surprise at how he had never considered that. "That...would make sense. I mean if anyone would know these parts...It would be the Decepticons. But..." He frowned. He didn't want to try and communicate with a Con again. It would look bad, especially after the last time he had struck a deal with one. Of course, losing three of his four team members was pretty bad too. But maybe he could get answers without completely damning himself. He pulled up the communications array and started to ring up Cybertron. Pharma gave him a curious look but stayed quiet as the line was opened with high command. Sentinel sighed as he found Optimus staring back at him.
"Sentinel...?" The SIC seemed a little surprised to be hearing from him since all of his reports were in file format and he generally let Pharma deal with the talking. It was hard enough just looking at him and seeing just a bit of the Elite Guard badge on his shoulder.
"I'm going to cut to the chase, Optimus." Sentinel completely skipped over pleasantries. He hadn't wanted to make this call but he had little choice. "Earlier this solar cycle, one of my men took a tumble down a tunnel. When I attempted to retrieve him, my systems were assaulted by a strange energy source, so the retrieval was aborted. Landfill who was sent out on a scouting assignment has not returned. I sent Broadside and Pharma to look for him, but they found nothing and Broadside decided to venture underground to find Huffer. Pharma attempted to go with him, but was assaulted by the same queer energy and reported back. We can't contact them and they've-"
"Oh look, there's Huffer!" Pharma piped up cheerfully.
"Uhh..." The Prime's faceplate heated up as he glowered at the jet, paying the amused look Optimus gave him no mind. He stood to look over the console, seeing the minibot. But his gait was...off and he had an odd, distinct violet glow emanating from his biolights. Pharma took his pedes off the console and leaned forward for a better look himself.
The SIC called to them. "Sentinel? Is it Huffer? Is he all right?"
"Well, he looks kind of funny-" Not that he wasn't built funny for a minibot to begin with but something was quite off now. But neither of the bots had much time to contemplate the differences as the short mech launched himself into the air and threw himself into the windshield. Pharma shrieked, falling back out of his seat and Sentinel staggered back in shock. Huffer's faceplate was twisted in a ghoulish visage of hateful rage as he proceeded to pound on the thick glass, quickly causing the material to crack under his blows. The Prime cursed as he accidentally dented his leg on his chair to get back, drawing his shield and lance out while engaging his face visor. "Pharma, behind me!"
"SENTINEL! What's going on?!" Optimus looked alarmed, unable to see anything but their panicked faceplates and their defensive positioning.
Pharma scrambled to get behind him as he backed further along the bridge. The windshield gave out under the minibot's assault. Sentinel tensed as the small fragger charged them, faster than he thought Huffer capable, if that even was Huffer. As the minibot lunged at him, mouth open wide with gnarled denta, the Prime struck out, driving his lance straight in. The smaller bot went rigid and twitched, speared through on the energy lance, momentarily stunned. Sentinel relaxed slightly before tensing anew as Huffer tried to drag himself towards him along the lance, as if it was a mere inconvenience at worst. The roar of a chainsaw made him jump as Pharma darted forward and pressed the saw into the minibots's head, tearing the helm apart. Violet goo spattered everywhere as the body finally went still, limbs dropping. Sentinel threw his lance down, stepping back from the speared body in horror.
"Good lord..." The medic murmured, his plates shaking. He turned off the saw, shaking off the foreign fluids. They looked over at the communication array where Optimus was just gaping at them in shock. Pharma turned to Sentinel. "He broke through the bloody window..."
That blatant observation jarred him out of his stupified state. "YA THINK?!" Sentinel sqawked back at him.
"What the hell did I just see..." Optimus's optics flickered.
Pharma crouched by Huffer, nudging him onto his back for a better look. Shards of violet were embedded under several cables, his denta were shattered as if he had been chewing on something hard and volatile, and violet goo oozed from the wounds they had inflicted to his frame. He could, however faintly, pick up on that same wrong energy they had felt from the caverns below. That feel of unease returned anew. "I don't know, Optimus Prime...But I think you should send us back-up. Immediately. Because I have a feeling Broadside and Landfill might be returning much the same way very soon."
It looked for a moment that he had lost his ability to process let alone vocalize, but Optimus regained his wits as he nodded grimly. "Understood. We'll be there asap!"

mtmte b99 au bc i said so
both series are avid supporters of dumbass rights so here we go
first there’s hot rod of nyon, otherwise known as his self given name “rodimus prime” that everyone refused to call him until it eventually caught on
came from a poor house in nyon’s slums and became a cop due to a scandal with corrupt government officials siphoning money from his town’s citizens and secretely murdering them...a couple of accidents later and both of his parents have been killed, he feels personally responsible and the rest is history
then comes minimus ambus, a detective working hard to become captain one day...he’s insanely organized and has plenty of binders and things that rodimus teases him relentlessly abt (secretly roddy is growing a crush on him but don’t tell)
there’s the precinct badass named cyclonus of tetrahex. nobody knows anything about him other than he has a mysterious bf who’s really sweet and when cyc is on the phone with him he melts...he will stab u if u say anything tho
drift of rodion is the loving husband & sergeant who actually has a criminal past and used to be addicted to drugs, more on that later. he’s married to a grumpy mech named ratchet who the rod squad sometimes sees out on the field as a paramedic
& once they had to investigate a case with a crazy medic named pharma who was actually killing his patients and almost killed ratchet, drift was so pissed and worried it was a nightmare
OF COURSE there’s nightbeat...he doesn’t strictly fit the role of charles but he’s one of rodimus’s most trusted friends, he’s smart and cunning and was accidentally sucked into a rogue fbi investigation and had illegal drugs tested on him that he became unwillingly dependent on. in a craze he trapped rodimus, cyclonus, and a few other detectives from the gorlam precinct (optimus and hardhead) and rodimus was the one who ended up saving him
sunstreaker is their receptionist, he and his brother sideswipe were childhood friends with roddy, roddy got him a job at the precinct. he’s crazy arrogant and he likes dancing, he never gets off his phone but has actually been through some shit as a kid (he ends up dating nightbeats hot cousin skids nd everyone is so in awe)
captain megatron is a man that has immediately feared as soon as he steps into the precinct. when he’s announced as the new captain rodimus immediately faints. he used to be the leader of an entire precinct of disguised dirty cops who secretely hated the way the justice system worked. he fought to change that but eventually his precinct became a hive of crime, murder, drugs, and police brutality
cybertron’s shitty court system chooses to reform him by placing him as the Lost Light Precinct’s captain through a loophole in the system (mayor starscream is at the testimony and hates megatron’s guts)
drift was also a part of the dirty cop precinct but he was poor and roped into it by drug use and saved from human trafficking & hate crimes by megatron...he was pardoned after some hard work on rodimus’s part and a thing called the regeneration act
megatron eventually grows on the squad and when deputy chief prowl tries his hardest to throw him in jail they all defend him, again and again
there’s a group trained by megatron called the DJD that’s honestly a terrifying case, megatron and roddy had to go into witness protection because of them
rodimus’s nemesis is this absolute dumb criminal named misfire who’s also part of a group called the scaVENGers, misfire betrays him every single time they work together
cyclonus’s nemesis is this really tall mech named whirl who’s missing an eye, he’s been arrested for like. eight bar fights and twenty counts of theft
rewind from public relations is the widow that minimus’ family still considers one of their own even after dominus’ death, when minimus’ coworker chromedome starts dating him he’s so shocked
also woohoo time for me 2 sprinkle some rodimags in here...
minimus starts dating this detective named tyrest, he’s weirdly obsessed with the law and does some questionable things but minimus doesn’t want to break up w him for fear of hurting his feelings
rodimus is dating hot shot defense attorney thunderclash, someone rodimus loves but their positions don’t work together. he knows they won’t last, they’re fire burns too bright for that and rodimus’s crush on minimus is starting to become a little more intense than he thought, they end up breaking up because of that
minimus and roddy get together and accidentally kill their temporary boss sentinel prime bc he finds them kissing in the closet and he short circuits (you’re not one of those, are you? a sentimental?)
THEN dirty cops getaway and atomizer find out they’re being “sneakily” investigated for secretely attacking cyclonus and tailgate in their home, they set up cyclonus to keep him quiet in jail but roddy happens to come along as well
thunderclash is getaway’s defense attorney and he cries as rodimus is sent out of the courtroom in handcuffs
they spend months in jail until the rest of the squad gets them out, getaway’s entire precinct is arrested and undercover agent first aid and his team are transferred back to the lost light along with clueless beat cop riptide
the precinct is being faced with a shutdown and that’s when nightbeat and roddy dig up one of their oldest cold cases: the disappearance of this church group
minimus: “what’s the church group called”
rodimus: “nightbeat, give me my sunglasses, they’re called the”
[rips off sunglasses]
“the knights of cybertron!”

AU Stuff
Actually, this is for my writing, but IDK why my mind wants to develop Ratchet all of a sudden. (It started some time last week.) This post is got long and I l know none of y’all care but I need to vent.
What I know so far:
He is more like his TFP incarnation.
He’s the reason why Pharma is an Autobot and not a neutral. It’s implied that Ratchet’s conviction may’ve swayed Pharma to join the Autobots.
Others think that Pharma is his biological son because they look alike, and think it’s cute that Pharma followed in Ratchet’s footsteps. (They’re not related by blood.)
He’s one of the broodiest Autobots. (Right up there with Kup and Whirl, who want to adopt every sparkling they see.) This nurturing tendency towards sparklings has made Ratchet very physically powerful.
He had been to Luna-1 multiple times during the war because he needed to perform surgeries on Emirate Xaaron, who has delicate health.
During one of these occasions, he met Drift, who was being detained there. Ratchet felt bad for him because his last memory of Drift was that of a young patient who OD’ed but now he was carrying too.
Ratchet was advised to stay on Luna-1 by Optimus. So it was here, that they began to bond. Both also gave birth at around the same time. And their sparklings (Ratchet’s son and Drift’s twins) were granted citizenship in Luna-1. Which is good because that means they get access to the best healthcare and education available thanks to being a citizen of a territory protected by the Tyrest Accord.
Once it was safe, Drift was released under Ratchet’s custody and taken to the Autobot base, along with their sparklings. (Drift is introduced to Ratchet’s conjunx, Wheeljack, and the rest of the family which includes the Dinobots.)
It’s still unclear whether or not Ratchet had interacted with the chief justice. The chief justice is reclusive, but also a friend of Xaaron. But then, the chief justice has a lot of memory gaps from brain damage.
Xaaron is very fond of Ratchet and thinks highly of him. But Xaaron is also ashamed of wasting Ratchet’s time with his constant health problems. Xaaron believes that Ratchet’s skills are needed elsewhere.
Ratchet delivered both Springer and Rodimus in the same solar cycle. (Springer was from the spring, and Rodimus from the summer.) But under the most unpleasant of circumstances. Springer was born on the battlefield and Rodimus’ was premature, because his mother, Elita, was badly startled by an explosion.
Ratchet was the first to come face-to-face with the evil entity/spirit/virus who was trapped on board the Lost Light. However, he had written it off as an unpleasant dream.
Ratchet uses the Medibay’s conference room as a private dining room for himself, his son, Drift, and the Driftlet twins. (Yes, with permission.)
Things that need development:
How Ratchet met Optimus and Elita.
Ratchet’s opinion about the Tyrest Accord, especially since he personally benefits from it (from his son being born on Luna-1.)
Why he went from party ambulance to serious mech.
How he adopted the Dinobots...or quite possibly him and Wheeljack gave birth to them, because they sparked each other up at the same time.
Ratchet’s opinion of Megatron, in its full elaborate detail.
Whether or not Ratchet knows that Ironhide is his brother.
Whether or not Ratchet should get his happy ending where Drift and Pharma actually get along, and aren’t just pretending to like each other.
(Other things I’ve not thought of yet, but need to know just in case.)

First Lines Meme
RULES: List the first lines of the last ten stories you published. Look to see if there are any patterns that you notice yourself, and see if anyone else notices any! Then tag some friends.
Oh, this is cool. I’m way strung out tonight, I can’t handle tagging people even more so than usual, but any of my writerly friends should totally do this.
------
1. You get back to your apartment late, not because work kept you past what you’d expected, but because you made a side trip to Ratchet’s favorite bar to purchase a case of triple-filtered engex to bring him as a present. (Functionism, Chapter 5)
2. Starscream kicks Windblade out of his quarters before you’re even properly awake. From the sound of it, she doesn’t really mind going, she’s just kicking up a fuss to annoy Starscream. (The War Has Been Won Here)
3. RD: guess who!!!
SS: Ah, Optimus Prime, my lover.
SS: How I long for you to hold me in your arms. (Saving All My Summers For You)
4. There’s been so much happening that you barely know what’s going on. Every time you think you’re starting to get your bearings, a new universe-shattering crisis shows up to knock you off your feet. (Before Those Hands Pulled Me From The Earth)
5. To the surprise of absolutely nobody at all, Impactor pauses in his briefing, the moment Megatron comes up, and says, “Used to frag that guy.” (Together, Chapter 71)
6. You receive a message asking you to report to Station Security before you receive any relevant message from your ship, which is your first indication that Justice of Prowl is angry. (Justice And Mercy)
7. It’s the middle of the night, but you can’t sleep. Not unusual, but something tonight is— different. You’re restless. Pacing. It feels like you’re waiting for something, but you don’t know what. (The Water Creeps To My Chest)
8. You spend a lot of time dozing with just Starscream, and with just Windblade—you think you wake up for a moment or two each time they switch out—but when you wake up for good, they’re both in the room with you. (Those Little Things)
9. So it’s like this. Perceptor wants to know about your (your!!!) time machine, and also, not to jump to any unjustified conclusions or anything, but it kind of sounds like he wants to know about more than just your time machine, if you know what you’re saying (you’re not sure you do). (Together, Chapter 70)
10. Ratchet isn’t happy about this. Maybe that means you oughta think about applying the brakes to this, but honestly, pretending like you don’t even notice when he’s getting annoyed is one of the funnest games you’ve found. (Together, Chapter 69) (nice)
----
Hm! I'm having trouble picking out any real patterns, though if someone spots something, I’d totally be interested in hearing what you think! From a me perspective, that first line is typically where I locked the character’s voice into my head. The cases where that doesn’t hold true are ones where I didn’t write perfectly in order, but where I changed up the intro in the middle of writing. That was the case with the pharma/ratchet and the vigistarbladeliege for sure. But this is cool!
And just for my own interest, I’m going to run through the povs real quick. 1) Pharma, 2) Wheeljack, 3) Rodimus/Starscream, 4) Ratchet, 5) Whirl, 6) Soundwave, 7) Starscream, 8) Wheeljack, 9) Brainstorm, 10) Skywarp. There’s not much repetition in there, which is not what I expected, but that’s interesting. Most of my comfiest voices are in there, and no voices that are very hard for me to get a handle on. But this is a neat ask meme! I like finding different ways to look at the work I’ve done.

@balloonarcade I had some very awesome and exciting news today!! So I celebrated by writing. This is based off of a meme I did last month. It made me interested in what kind of person would have the relationships I got, so here you go!
I was young when the Decepticons were formed. I used to walk the dusty streets of Kaon after class to listen to the speeches. I didn’t have any legitimate gripe with the system. I was high caste. A born medic, but change was an attractive notion. I stood out in the crowds, bright white with red tipped wings. There would be hushed whispers, and fevered glances gathered around me. I ignored them. I kept my eyes on the mech who would eventually destroy everything, Megatron. He was charismatic even then when he had few followers, or deeds to his name. I still get breathless thinking about his sermons. They were electrifying.
He promised he would tear down the system, and build anew. In Megatron’s defense he did complete half his goal.
I went there for months just to eddy in the growing waves until Megatron singled me out one day, and said, “Do you see this? One of noble lineage here by their own volition. The words we speak are a universal truth that has reached even the most obstinate ear.” The crowd was deafening, chanting “Freedom, Freedom.” I chanted with them over the moon.
I can’t claim amnesty in ignorance. I was no easily led astray youngling. I danced with Overlord, and kissed Starscream. I would have gladly taken the Decepticon brand later that year. It was with great regret I had to pick a side when Orion Pax and Megatron split over irreconcilable differences. I went with the Autobots. My best friend and my future Conjunx had fell in with them.
It was the least I could do.
Pharma, Ratchet, and I were an unlikely group of friends. All different ages, Ratchet being the oldest, and I was the youngest. I volunteered at Ratchet’s clinic. The first time I met him he was bent over a half gone mech. He worked with blinding speed to save this life. It humbled me the gaps in our skill. When the overdose was under control he brought me back into his cramped office. I had to stand. Even the chairs were overflowing with records.
“I am bored of the way instructors dole out information. They go too slow. Hands on experience can only help me improve.” I told him.
Ratchet was flatly unimpressed, “You won’t last a week”
I lasted 3 years. It was hard I nearly gave up several times. Catching the odd hour of recharge where I could. I studied at Ratchet’s clinic in the quiet hours. I got slept on, puked on, and hit on. It was unforgiving and unrewarding work. You see the same patients again and again. A revolving door clinic. The day Ratchet put a blanket on me when I fell asleep cleaning the floor was the day I knew it would be worth it.
Ratchet started taking me out for drinks around the 1st year mark. I guess he felt bad for that barf thing. I’m not much for drinking, but the company was enjoyable. Ratchet knows how to party.  That’s how I met Pharma, perched on the back of a chair to hold Ratchet’s legs steady for a keg stand.
Pharma smiled and said, “Ratchet! I was wondering where you had gotten off to, and you must be the eager intern he’s been gushing about. I’m Pharma, Ratchet’s collegue. We should have have met sooner, but Ratchet loves to hoard all the talented young mechs for himself.” He mock scowled, and extended a hand. He caught the light. Gleaming, stunning. I fell off the chair and onto Ratchet. Not my finest moment.
It took me ages to untangle myself from Ratchet, he wasn’t much help, and Pharma laughed at us instead of being a gentlemech.
We kept in contact afterwords. It wasn’t often. We were both very busy people with different schedules, but when we could we would met for brief moments brushing wings over a shared glass of energon. It couldn’t last. We were doing these dalliances upon a backdrop of an ever worsening war. Medics were being overrun. Something was going to break.
I was diligently finishing up a report curled on my berth, we were all working late back then, when Pharma still covered in today’s gore turned to me and said, “Bond with me.”
My wings twitched. “I’m not in the mood for jokes.”
He put a leg on the bed so he could tower over me, hand braced on the wall by my face. “Good, because I wasn’t joking. Bond with me.” He was dead serious.
I put the report down. I wasn’t going to be able to avoid this conversation by ignoring him long enough unfortunately. “Make your case then.”
“It’s not going to stop. All of us thrown into the smelter for the sake of Megatron’s and Optimus’s pride.” He put his hand over my spark. “I would know if anything happened. They would have to inform me— I can’t live with the unknown. I’m not built for it.” He dropped his hand back to his side to await my judgment.
It didn’t take me long to come to a decision. I told him yes. Not right away, and I wanted Ratchet to be informed. He is my best friend. He was quite sour about that last requirement, but I remained firm. I like Ratchet, I really do. He’s sweet.
Ratchet had been startled, but congratulated us on the worst timing ever.
It happened perfunctorily in the dark. Instead of lingering in the morning he rushed over to the registrars office to make it official. I knew going in that it wouldn’t be a loving relationship, but I still found time to be disappointed. He came back with a cup of warm energon in hand and a certificate that said Conjunx Endura: Pharma of Tetrahax. He must have hidden his away already.
We didn’t get much time to celebrate. The war had pushed on to other planets, and medics were needed at the front lines. There was no sympathy for anyone, not even newly bonded Conjunxes. We were split 5 million light years apart.
The day before we were set to leave I interrupted Ratchet’s attempts to pack, so I could hug him. Neither of us tried to say anything, and he did hug me back, eventually. I spent the day with Ratchet and the night with Pharma. We tried to press the memory of each other into our hands, so we would have something solid to take with us.
In retrospect getting out of the shadows of those medical giants was what finally let me come into my own. It was nothing less than what I needed. It didn’t feel that way at the time.
I was bitter and angry. I threw myself into my work. It was all I had.
There was a lull in the fighting that let us come limping into the same base. It had been millions of years since we have been in the same room together. Pharma and Ratchet were strangers to me. They fought over the stupidest stuff, and I took on hours I didn’t have to just for the quiet. It took a while, but it did simmer down. We had to relearn how to be friends, too much had changed. I was now lingering in their rooms to reaffirm our relationships. I had lost too much to give up on them.
It couldn’t last. Any peace in this world was fragile. A brittle shell that only needed a light touch to shatter.
We get offered Messatine. You won’t be separated, the missive assures, as Conjunx Endura you are afforded certain privileges. Pharma would be the head as he is the senior medic between you. It would be challenging, but rewarding. Only a medic of your skills could manage it.
Pharma in some misguided display of affection threaded his fingers with mine, “I won’t go without you.”
He thought he was being romantic, but it sounded like a threat. He has never had a problem leaving me in his flight trails before. I wasn’t as eager to head back into the fray. I had gotten a taste for the calm and was starved for more. It would be a good opportunity to show off the skills he earned. Ratchet was making noises about retiring, and Pharma was ready to fill the gap. A test for the new CMO. Can you turn this dismal situation around? Of course we can. I smiled at him. “Let’s inform Ratchet our plans have changed.”
Ratchet took the goodbye with all of his usual grace, and by that I mean avoidance. I found him watching the clouds skim the horizon. We swapped stories about the old clinic until it was time to leave again.
I never did get around to actually saying the words ‘Good bye.’ Ratchet probably preferred it that way.

Voice claim ideas?
These are the Draconoids (Autobots) and Serpencieves (Decepticons) of my “series”, Transformers Dragon Storm. Any ideas for what they should sound like would be appreciated!
Optimus (Fire truck/three(five)-headed dragon)
Role: Leader
What is there to say about Optimus Prime that hasn’t already been said? He is the leader of the Draconoids, having taken the position after the death of original leader Ultra Magnus back on Cybertron. He will often get into situations where one of his subordinates would be better suited because he doesn’t want them injured, he’s a sucker for rules and protocol, and despises wonton violence and destruction, or any sort of public attention (something the Serpencieves use to their advantage). For these reasons, he and the trigger-happy Springer don’t exactly have the best relationship.
Sunstreaker (Sports car/Quetzalcoatl)
Role: Scout
Sunstreaker has a desperate need to be in the spotlight. He can be reckless and looks before he leaps, but usually has good intentions. As the youngest of the Autobots, he has a strong desire to prove himself to the others. He eventually (reluctantly) revealed himself to be a Shifter named Tracker. Tracker is not as energetic as Sunstreaker, prone to moping around until the call of duty comes. Unlike Starscream/Mayhem, Tracker is ashamed of his shifting abilities, since he thinks it lowers his true worth as his chosen self (Sunstreaker).
Pharma (Ambulance/Furry dragon)
Role: Medic
Pharma was a former Serpencieve, working alongside Knockout. However, time and distance separated them and Pharma began thinking about allying himself with the Draconoids. He is impatient, temperamental, and silver-tounged, seemingly due to his Serpencieve upbringing. Underneath all of this, he also has a sadistic side that loves inflicting pain on others. He has shown fascination in ripping the humans apart and putting them back together again. Despite this sadistic streak and his unethical-at-times medical practices, he’s the only medic in the Draconoid lineup and is thus a vital member of the team.
Nightbeat (1980s Ferrari/typical Dragon)
Role: Investigation
Nightbeat fashions herself a hard-boiled detective-and in many ways, she is. She is very focused and driven, never stopping a lead until she gets the answers that she wants. This will sometimes lead to her chasing down foes much stronger than she is. She considers herself a lone wolf, with Springer being the only one she was on good terms with from the start. However, when she is assigned to work with a human partner, she begins to open up and work better with the rest of the gang.
Landmine (Motocycle with sidecar/Lindworm)
Role: Mechanic
Landmine fills the “old friend of Optimus Prime” caste that normally belongs to Ratchet. The two of them worked together in missions frequently during the scuffles on their primal planet, both before and after the Techno-Collision that turned it into Cybertron. Landmine has taken an interest in treasure-hunting during his time on earth, and is constantly trying to find new things to add to his horde. This fascination with hunting made finding the Armaments of the Knights and other Quintessonian keepsakes easier. Unlike Optimus, Landmine is a relentless optimist, although he will scold the kids and younger bots.
Skydancer (News Helicopter/Fairy Dragon)
Role: Air fighter
While all Autobots have the ability to fly in dragon mode, Skydancer is most comfortable in the air. Free-spirited and full of energy, she works together incredibly well with Bumblebee. Since she likes to show off her air skills, she will do unnessisary (as Prime puts it) flips and donuts. She hates standing still, and even when she isn’t running or flying, she twitches or fidgets to keep herself active. She is armed with katanas that form her wings in dragon mode and helicopter blades in vehicle mode.
Springer (Muscle Car/Armored Dragon)
Role: Muscle
Springer was heavily inspired by the stereotypical action hero. He’s a strong-willed quipper who hates showing his own weakness. Surprisingly, he doesn’t seem to be compensating for anything, he’s naturally cocky and simply modeled his behavior after the action heroes he saw. He loves the spotlight and public attention, Something Optimus doesn’t approve of. He has also shown to be interested in a romance with Nightbeat, but so far she hasn’t returned the interest.
Falcor (RV/Western Dragon)
Role: Transport
Voice:
Falcor is, simply put, determined to keep his passengers safe. This all-consuming need to protect his precious cargo means that he is gullible at best and a complete sucker at worst.
Megatron (Bullet train/Chinese dragon)
Role: Supreme Commander
Megatron is another one of those Transformers who needs no introduction. He’s ruthless, cold-blooded, and has a near-perfect blend of draconian ferocity and Cybertronian cunning. He is considered an apex predator-a title he uses with pride. He also has a surprisingly long fuse for someone who is surrounded by the likes of Feedback and Starscream, but he tolerates their existence because of their unique abilities (Starscream’s shifting, Feedback’s cunning, etc.). He was also aware of how Optimus wasn’t complete, and welcomed Scourge to the team with open servos because he thought that it meant he would never become whole again.
Starscream (Jet/Wyvern)
Role: Second-in-command/Air Commander
The always-treacherous Starscream is another Transformers mainstay. What he lacks in competence, loyalty, bravery and modesty, he more than makes up for in confidence, bootlicking, battle prowess and creativity. Starscream has always believed that he was destined for greatness, and he will use any means to get it. It turns out that he is actually a Shifter named Mayhem, with a power similar to Sunstreaker’s-although his is more refined, allowing him to mix and match disguises. Mayhem is incredibly proud of his abilities, although forced to hide them by Megatron (further fueling his hatred).
Soundwave (Frenzy, Ravage, Buzzsaw, surveillance truck/drake)
Role: Surveilence
Is Soundwave a boy? Are they a girl? No one knows for sure. All that’s known for sure about them is that they are logical, stoic, and loyal to Megatron until the end. They’re usually the one who keeps Starscream’s (who identifies them as a “she” due to their feminine voice) struts firmly on the ground. They are also the one who keeps the Serpencieve food chain in line, giving and receiving orders from the top lizard. They are in control of three subunits-the destruction lover Frenzy, the sharp-witted Ravage, and the artistically inclined Buzzsaw.
Knockout (Sports Car/Naga)
Role: Medic
Knockout isn’t so much vain as she is a perfectionist. That isn’t to say she isn’t full of herself-which she most definitely is-but she expects perfect functioning order out of everything. Even so much as a little dent or a scratch is enough to send her reeling. When things fall into chaos, she goes into panic mode. She works decently with Starscream, and tolerates Feedback in a similar vein to him.
Leviathan (Cruise liner/Jumbo Jet/Sea dragon)
Role: “Security”
Leviathan is considered the strong and silent type. He doesn’t speak unless he considers it absolutely necessary-which admittedly isn’t often. He is the Serpencieves’ secret weapon-not only does he have a second vehicle mode, he is one of the largest members of the flight. He’s a cold-blooded killer, seeming to delight in the chaos and murder he causes.
Feedback (Jeep/regular dragon)
Role: Mad Scientist
Feedback is insane, and he knows it. He loves reveling in his own madness, placing himself in his own little world. Sometimes, he gets on his fellow Serpencieve’s nerves, but he barely cares. As far as he cares, he’s a misunderstood genius. His mind is always cooking up hare-brained schemes that seldom work, but his relentless determination and surprising brilliance (plus undying loyalty to the Serpencieve cause) is enough for Megatron to keep him around.
Drag Strip (police car/western dragon)
Role: Assassin
Drag Strip is not a Serpencieve in the truest sense of the word-she sees herself as neutral, and will help the Draconoids if she thinks she can benefit from it. She deals in her own ideas of “justice”-basically, the strong preying over the weak. She deals in absolutes, but if she says she will do something, she does it. Deep down, she knows that the Serpencieves are doomed, something she stews over in secret. While she does admire Megatron’s strength, she does not consider herself romantically invested in him.
Smogg (Garbage truck/Wyvern)
Role: Muscle
Smogg is easily the most beastly-minded of the Serpencieves. He is brute strength, always looking for a battle or something to sink his teeth into. So intense is this desire for battle, he has to be chained onto Nemesis Valley in order to keep him from destroying anything that moves. Unfortunately, his beastly mind keeps him from forming strategies and plotting against enemies moves, which is why he works most effectively merely as a bodyguard or a muscle man. Starscream frequently employs him because he himself is not very physically powerful.

Hey blue! I got a question. Which transformers yandere do you consider to be the most dangerous and which least dangerous? And why?
This is so funny, because I legit was thinking about this exact same thing just the other day and was planning to make a post about it!  XD  Here you are, lovelies!  For all your yandere headcanon needs!
Tier 1 Yanderes:  The “baby” or “accidental” yanderes.  They really don’t know what to do with themselves or how to talk to you, so they just end up coming off as kind of weird and needy.  They might even be a little bit intimidated by your charm and your friendliness.  They tend to follow you around secretly and/or spy on you, and you might find a couple of your things go missing, but overall, they’re pretty harmless.
Threat level: Nonexistent, but still kind of creepy.
Swerve
Skids
Fort Max
Red Alert
Smokescreen
Chromedome
Rodimus
Ultra Magnus
Blades
The Vehicons
Tier 2 Yanderes:  There’s usually an equal balance of power on both sides.  Maybe you two or already friends, or even dating.  They seem normal most of the time, but there are times when they can come off as slightly controlling or a little possessive.  If they see someone as a threat, they will retaliate in subtle (or sometimes not so subtle) ways.  They tend to be overly cuddly and handsy, but won’t push your boundaries too much.
Threat level: Safe, but everyone else had better watch their back.
Deathasaurus
Prowl
Swindle
Tailgate
Cyclonus
Rewind
Brainstorm
Nautica
Predaking
Chop Shop
Chase
Heatwave
Blurr
Tier 3 Yanderes:  They’re bolder and far more cunning than the previous ones.  They feel no shame in spying on you or taking your things.  They spend hours cultivating plans to get their hands on you and get the others out of the picture.  They’ll use whatever tricks necessary to win you over, be it lying, manipulation, sabotage, or even in certain cases memory loss.  Anyone who gets in their way is quietly removed from the equation be it in a peaceful way or not.  Possible chance of getting kidnapped.
Threat level:  Worrying, you won’t suffer any damage, but you better be looking for a way out.
Rung
Nightbeat
Getaway
Perceptor
Drift
Ratchet
Optimus Prime
Blackarachnia
Whirl
Tier 4 Yanderes:  These guys mean business.  They have no qualms about kidnapping you and keeping you as a hostage, or in some cases, a pet.  It varies from individual to individual, but you probably won’t suffer any physical damage, depending on how much they care for you (provided you don’t try to run away, that is).  There’s a lot of intimidation and power play involved and depending on the yandere in question, they might not take no for an answer when it comes to physical intimacy.
Threat level:  High!  You need to find a way to contact someone STAT!
Tarn
Pharma
Kaon
Megatron
Starscream
Soundwave
Shockwave
Knock Out
Lugnut
Blitzwing
Thunderhoof
Steeljaw
Fracture
Lockdown
Tyrest
Tier 5 Yanderes:  You’re fragged.  There’s no other way to put it.  These scary ass mofos don’t know the difference between love and obsession and actually get a kick out of watching you suffer.  If you’re lucky, they’ll kill you quickly after they’ve had their fun, if not…  Well, I hope you have a high tolerance for pain.
Threat level:  Ultimate!!!  Only a miracle from Primus can save you now!
Overlord
Tarantulas
Airachnid
Galvatron

TFP Challenge Day #9
“Have any cool Cybertronian headcanons? Of course you do! Share them here! It can be about a character, Cybertron itself, Cybertronian biology, etc.! Whatever floats your boat!”
Headcanons are my favorite thing! I have so many they feel canon. xD Buckle up! A lot of my headcanons take cues from IDW’s G1 universe, so if you don’t recognize a name, it’s probably from there. I don’t include OCs in my headcanons unless they’re super minor (like a gas station attendee…energon station?). Most of these will be about Cybertron’s history and stuff that happened pre-war or during the war. If you don’t like/agree with them it’s okay. They’re not canon (obviously). ^^
The humans love to ask Ratchet questions about Cybertronian biology and culture, and he’s happy to answer. He and June sometimes have really interesting conversations deep into the night, swapping medical knowledge.
Wheeljack actually has the ability to light up his fins when he talks, but he deactivated the setting after the Wreckers made fun of him for it.
Ratchet nearly got his face blown off by one of Wheeljack’s inventions before the war, so now he steers clear of anything the Wrecker builds.
Magnus can actually get really insecure about what he’s doing. He’ll think about actions he’s taken in the past and how they might have been a huge mistake, and will start worrying if he’s cost the Autobots a victory. After he and Wheeljack made up, though, his anxiety hasn’t been as bad.
Ratchet lets the human children sit on his shoulders if he’s in a good mood (this is after the others have returned to Cybertron).
Arcee regularly checks up on Ratchet to see if he’s doing alright after Prime’s death. They have long conversations about their passed friends, like Prime, Cliffjumper, and Tailgate.
Fowler proposes to June and they get married. Jack has mixed feelings.
Raf finally hits puberty and gets taller!
Orion Pax and Ratchet were good friends before the war (it’s kind of obvious). I feel like Orion asked for Ratchet’s advice about Megatronus and stuff, and Ratchet was always there for him, supporting him. I also feel like Orion was originally reluctant to take the Matrix, so Ratchet had to give him some pep talks.
There was more to the beginning of the war than Ratchet tells in his story. I feel like Megatronus had someone else who influenced him. Someone named…Terminus. He could have been something of a mentor to Megatronus. Eventually he died, and Megatronus became the leader of the fledgling Decepticon movement.
There’s not much in TFP canon about Ratchet’s mentor, Remedy. He’s not in any other continuities, and is only briefly mentioned in the Covenant. In my headcanon, he was a Senator and a member of the High Council. He, Sentinel Zeta Prime, and Terminus had all been good friends during the Quintesson War (which was a canon event), maybe even making up an elite team, similar to Team Prime. After the war, however, Sentinel kept the caste system in place, alienating Terminus (as he was demoted from an officer back a miner). Remedy, feeling guilty for his friend, began helping out with the Decepticon movement.
Shockwave wasn’t always faceless and emotionless. He was once a strong advocator for anti-Functionalism, and became friends with Remedy and Terminus because of this. He was also a member of the High Council (that part is canon), but after the Council found out about his involvement with the ‘Cons, they turned him into an empurata and shadowplay victim. They had hoped he’d abandon the Decepticons, but he decided that the revolution was the more logical choice and devoted himself to the cause.
Same as Remedy, Cogwheel is only briefly mentioned in canon. The Covenant says was a colleague of Ratchet’s, having also trained under Remedy. It mentions that she and Ratchet helped start the Quintesson War by exposing their lies about the T-cog, but she isn’t mentioned after that. My headcanon is that she was killed during the war, devastating Ratchet, as they’d been close friends (or more, if you want).
Ratchet, of course, eventually found out about Remedy’s involvement with the Decepticons. Remedy spent a lot of time in Kaon, even after Terminus’s death, organizing things and all that. One day Orion Pax showed up, which worried Remedy as Pax was quite naive. He later went to Ratchet and told him not to get involved with the Decepticons. Remedy knew that Megatronus was far more volatile than his mentor, Terminus, had been, and suspected that things could go awry. Not long after, Remedy’s involvement with the Decepticons was discovered and he was found murdered in his home a few days later. However, Prowl had Pharma (Crystal City CMO and a former student of Remedy’s) perform an autopsy, and Pharma discovered it wasn’t really Remedy’s body. This knowledge never reached the public though because the Council threatened to have Pharma and anyone else he told killed. He still told Ratchet, though.
Before the war began, there were a lot of terrorist attacks on multiple populated areas on Cybertron (this is canon). Not all of it was done by the Decepticons, though, because the Council wasn’t as good as they are made out to be. Sentinel orchestrated some of these bombings to make the Decepticons look bad. Eventually, Megatronus decided to give in to the people’s expectations and began ordering his own attacks on heavily Council-controlled areas.
Rossum was Kaon’s CMO and a former student of Remedy’s. He became Megatron’s CMO during the war and stood by his side for a long time. However, when Megatron began using dark energon, Rossum developed doubts. After the Exodus, he remained behind on Cybertron and eventually joined the Wreckers’ effort against Shockwave’s hordes of Forged soldiers and Predacons.
Ratchet left Pharma in charge as Autobot CMO on Cybertron after the Exodus. Things may or may not have gone well.
Firestar was the Wreckers’ medic.
Flareup was the Wreckers’ explosives expert (besides Wheeljack).
Bulkhead was a construction worker and occasional gladiator in Slaughter City before the war. He and Breakdown initially joined the Decepticons, but Bulk missed the Wreckers and eventually defected to the Autobots. Wheeljack was the first to fully trust him, and he will never forget that.
Remedy had a colleague, another bot who trained with him under their mentor. Her name was Lifeline. They both trained their own set of apprentices as medics. Their apprentices are ordered by age below:
Cogwheel (oldest, trained under Remedy, was going to be his successor as CMO of Iacon, killed during Quintesson War)
Nickel (trained under Lifeline, disappeared after training was finished but reappeared with DJD during war)
Rossum (trained under Remedy, became CMO of Kaon and later CMO of the Decepticons, defected from Decepticons)
Thundercracker (trained under Lifeline, part of a trine with Starscream and Skywarp, became CMO of Kalis, defected from Decepticons)
Pharma (trained under Remedy, became CMO of Crystal City and later interim Autobot CMO)
Ratchet (trained under Remedy, succeeded Remedy as CMO of Iacon and later became Autobot CMO)
Red Alert (trained under Lifeline, was to succeed Lifeline as CMO of Nova Cronum, joined Autobots after Decepticons massacred Nova Cronum)
After Remedy died, the High Council was unsure of how to fill their open spot for a medical advisor. They launched an investigation into Ratchet, but couldn’t find any dirt on him. After the investigation was through, Ratchet opened a clinic in the Dead End (like IDW). There was a period of turmoil because Lifeline thought she should become Iacon’s CMO and take Remedy’s place on the Council. Eventually it was decided that Ratchet would be CMO, but Lifeline would be on the Council.
Ultra Magnus used to be on the High Council, but he resigned, stating that he needed to devote his time to the Wreckers. This eventually led to the prosecution of Wreckers. The Council claimed that the Wreckers were helping the Decepticons to launch terrorist attacks, and ordered the capture of all Wreckers so they could be interrogated and terminated. Very few Wreckers were actually captured, as most managed to hide or escape. However, Impactor, Chromia, and Kup were all captured and had mild shadowplay performed on them. This led to Impactor despising Megatron, even though they had once been close friends (as Impactor had been a gladiator and a miner as well).
The Wreckers were created long before the Great War (this is canon). Impactor’s hate eventually led to the Wreckers becoming exclusively Autobot. The Decepticon ex-Wreckers formed their own teams to combat this, like Squadron X and the Bruisers.
Seekers were discriminated against (not as much as low-caste though), which is why there were several cities that were exclusively “Seeker,” like Vos, Tarn, and Kalis, and also why the Seekers were sent to guard Trypticon Station (also because they could fly).
The TFP bots ordered by age is as follows:
Optimus Prime
Shockwave
Ultra Magnus
Soundwave
Ratchet
Starscream
Wheeljack
Arcee
Cliffjumper
Megatron
Dreadwing and Skyquake
Bulkhead
Breakdown
Makeshift
Knock Out
Bumblebee
Smokescreen
Predaking
Darksteel and Skylynx
During the war, the Autobots and Decepticons both attempted to take Praxus (this is canon). However, not long into the battle, some soldiers began showing signs of a rust infection. However, the disease was only triggered upon full activation of the T-cog (full transformation). It was obvious that the disease was engineered, but no one knew who did it because both sides were severely affected. The spokespersons for Praxus, Prowl and Ironhide, told both Prime and Megatron that whoever cured the disease would be the side they supported (as the originally didn’t want to pick a side, which is why the battle was being fought over them in the first place). Both sides had their medics and scientists get to work. Rossum was the first to engineer the cure, but his lab was invaded by a small team of Wreckers, led by Pharma. Rossum was forced to give over the formula to the Autobot medic. The Autobots were credited with discovering the cure and the Praxian forces joined their side.
No one knows that it was Pharma who created the virus. He was pressured into doing it by the DJD, who were threatening him (haven’t really got this part worked out yet). After the virus went live, though, he felt guilty. He knew he couldn’t just come up with a cure because the others could see through it, so he instead waited for someone else to figure it out, while dropping hints to the Autobots along the way (don’t have this part figured out yet either). He didn’t anticipate that the Decepticons would make the cure first, so he had to steal it from them. Ratchet was angry that he’d stolen from the other side, and they got into an argument about it, with Pharma telling Ratchet that he cared too much and was too weak to make the hard decisions. He regretted his words later.
The medics from both sides had a sort of “union.” Neither of the leaders knew about it, as Ratchet and Rossum tried to keep it as quiet as possible. They exchanged notes, war stories, etc., and just tried to keep their pre-War friendships alive. A lot of younger medics like First Aid and Knock Out got early advice because of this, and even formed cross-faction friendships. However, the union splintered after the Praxus incident, and eventually faded into nothing. Its fate was sealed when Prowl found out about it and confronted Ratchet, threatening to charge him and his medical staff with treason.
Up until the death of the union, Ratchet kept his Dead End clinic running, accepting Decepticons, Autobots, and NAILs alike.
Rossum’s apprentice was Ambulon. When Rossum defected, so did Ambulon. Red Alert’s apprentice was Velocity. Ratchet’s was First Aid. When he left Cybertron during the Exodus, he left First Aid in Pharma’s care. Pharma is overly-protective of First Aid.
Smokescreen was friends with First Aid on Cybertron and they got into a lot of trouble. Pharma doesn’t like Smokescreen much because of this.
Elita-1 remained behind on Cybertron with the Wreckers and Dynobots, and took Magnus’s place after he left Cybertron as leader of the remaining Wreckers. Impactor and Kup were dead by that point, and Springer was in a coma.
Ratchet will never tell Optimus that he was jealous of Megatronus.
Orion and Megatronus considered becoming amica endurae. Orion was also going to become amica endurae with Ratchet, but then he received the Matrix and he felt he couldn’t do it anymore. This pissed Ratchet off but he eventually accepted it.
There are Cybertronian atheists. Ratchet is one. He believes that Unicron and Primus exist (obviously), but he does not believe they are all-powerful gods. They are simply the Titans, perhaps the first Transformers ever built. The Thirteen were forged by Primus to help him fight Unicron. Eventually Primus was forced to retreat, leaving the Thirteen to face Unicron on their own. Cybertron was formed in a similar fashion to Earth and Junkion, with the titan in the middle as the core, but the metal parts came from space junk over an extremely long period of time.
Primes have longer lifespans than normal Transformers because they were built to be more like machines than actual people. This is why some Cybertronians believe that only forged (those built through “natural” means, by the Well), are true Cybertronians. There is controversy over this subject.
The Vehicons and Autotroopers are similar to the MTOs from IDW G1, but they don’t have identities like Knock Out and Bumblebee do.
Knock Out continued his training under Thundercracker after the war was over.
Remedy wasn’t actually dead. He was captured by the Council and they turned him into an empurata and shadowplay victim. He was then exiled to Slaughter City, where he lived as a beggar in the gutters, his mind too badly damaged to remember his life before empurata. Eventually he was discovered by the DJD, who took him in and began repairs. Megatron was informed of the situation, and he decided to keep the whole thing a secret from most of his officers. The only ones he told were Soundwave, Shockwave, and Rossum.
The DJD is a thing, but they have slightly different names, backstories, personalities, etc. I changed their names because they’re named after the first five cities to fall to the Decepticons. In the Prime continuity, Helex and Tesarus were not part of the five.
Tarn is still Tarn and still does the voice thing. x) Before the war he was an empurat named Glitch living in the Dead End. He was friends with Ratchet.
Helex is now Scyk. Before the war he was a miner named Crucible.
Kaon is still Kaon. Before the war he was a Senator named Amp who sympathized with the Decepticons.
Tesarus is now Polyhex. Before the war he was a mechanic named Scissorsaw. He was friends with Wheeljack.
Vos is still Vos. Before the war he was a seeker scientist who worked on Trypticon Station named Forestock. He was friends with Jetfire and Starscream, as they worked together. He is also a language purist, primarily speaking Primal Vernicular.
Nickel is the DJD’s medic, mechanic, etc. She’s in charge of looking after the team and keeping Remedy alive. She’s their version of Ratchet.
