How it started (literal first paragraph of my current WIP):

They say that coping with grief gets easier with time. Fabian didn’t know if that was false, or if the three months since Nina had walked through the portal had simply been not enough time. When he arrived back at Anubis house for his final school year, it suddenly felt like no time at all. He walked through the front door, and all he could see was her. He could see her helping put up the chandelier, prying up the floor boards on the stairs, waiting for him to walk to school together, and countless other moments that no longer felt small or meaningless.

How it's going (from a writing session before last):

Alfie screamed. He turned back towards the open door. Before he could take the one step back through it, the ravens set upon him with razor sharp talons and beaks. He lunged for the door as one of the ravens went for his throat. His clipboard clattered to the floor and he vanished.

The way I'm going it's going to be a long time before I finish this, and post it, so I thought I would share two of my best paragraphs, just for funsies (and also to inflict emotional damage)
