About 100 employees were laid off in total (8%) and one of the main reasons listed is "underperformance," "sharp drop in popularity" and "poor reception of Lightfall."

So you know when for the last year and a half content creators have been shitting and pissing on the game as a full-time job and the amount of negativity and ragebait content became the only thing to make content about for them? Well they certainly won't take the blame, but I will let it be known. These people either don't understand the influence they have or they do and they're doing it on purpose, and I don't know which of these two options is worse, but I am 100% confident that their campaign of rage and hate contributed to this.

You don't base your entire community around constantly hating everything about the only game you play (despite clearly not enjoying it anymore) and somehow avoid galvanising thousands and thousands of people into perceiving the game negatively. Imagine being employees who have barely worked there for 2 years and the only community reception they've seen is 24/7 hate train for their work and then they get fired because of "poor reception" and "drop in popularity." How can they not take that personally? I am absolutely devastated for these people who delievered a banger product and who were met with an unrelenting barrage of toxic gamer children which ended up having more sway over their boss than them.

Which brings me to the next bit and that's FUCK THE CEO. He is now my mortal enemy #1. I am projecting psychic blasts directly into his brain. What an absolute spineless coward who is more willing to bow down to fucking gamers than to protect his own employees. This is absolutely rage inducing because this has happened before. From the article from 2021 about the toxic culture at Bungie:

Reading this shit from the new article absolutely fucking sent me into blind rage because I immediately remembered this. Another instance of employees suffering because of comments on reddit. And because of toxic players. And proof that leadership is not protecting employees and is instead siding with players.

Match made in heaven. Asshole gamer content creators and asshole CEOs, all of whom sit at home on piles of money made from someone else's labour. I hope they all explode. None of the people that worked on this game deserve this.

Bungie’s decision to cut an estimated 100 jobs from its staff of about 1,200 followed dire management warnings earlier this month of a sharp drop in the popularity of its flagship video game Destiny 2. Just two weeks ago, executives at the Sony-owned game developer told employees that revenue was running 45% below projections for the year, according to people who attended the meeting. Chief Executive Officer Pete Parsons pinned the big miss on weak player retention for Destiny 2, which has faced a poor reception since the release of its latest expansion, Lightfall. The next expansion, The Final Shape, was getting good — not great feedback — and management told those present that they planned to push back the release to June 2024 from February, according the people, who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly. The additional time would give developers a chance to improve the product. In the meantime, Parsons told staff Bungie would be cutting costs, such as for travel, as well as implementing salary and hiring freezes, the people said. Everyone would have to work together to weather the storm, he said, leaving employees feeling determined to do whatever was needed to get revenue back up. But on Monday morning the news got worse: Dozens of staffers woke up to mysterious 15-minute meetings that had been placed on their calendars, which they soon learned were part of a mass layoff. Bungie laid off around 8% of its employees, according to documentation reviewed by Bloomberg. Bungie didn’t respond to requests for comment. Employees who were let go will receive at least three months of severance and three months of Bungie-paid COBRA health insurance, although other benefits, such as expense reimbursements, ended Monday, sending some staff racing to submit their receipts. Laid-off staffers will also receive prorated bonuses, although those who were on a vesting schedule following Sony Group Corp.’s acquisition of Bungie in January 2022 will lose any shares that weren’t vested as of next month. The layoffs are part of a larger money-saving initiative at Sony’s PlayStation unit, which has also cut employees at studios such as Naughty Dog, Media Molecule and its San Mateo office. TD Cowen analyst Doug Creutz wrote in a report Monday that “events over the last few days lead us to believe that PlayStation is undergoing a restructuring.” PlayStation president Jim Ryan announced last month that he plans to resign. Many of the layoffs at Bungie affected the company’s support departments, such as community management and publishing. Remaining Bungie staff were informed that some of those areas will be outsourced moving forward.

background : y/n and peter recently broke up due to complications. it was a messy breakup, leaving both frustrated yet missing the other and wishing they handled it better. gwen, y/n's best friend, tells her that it's for the best and that she shouldn't give into him. now y/n loves gwen, she really does, but what happens when peter texts her that he misses her?

it's been 3 weeks since they broke up, 3 long and hard rough weeks for y/n. she's frustrated with the idea of not being able to greet him with a kiss everyday before class or hold his hand throughout the halls. having a class with him doesn't help either. everyday he walks in with that fluffy brown hair of his, that sexy blue shirt on, or that famillar attractive scent that lingers wherever he goes. it drives her crazy knowing that they aren't together anymore.

she stares at him from across class, almost daydreaming of the day they get back together and run away into the sunset, ready to live their happily ever after.

"hey !" a famillar voice wakes her up

she turns to the voice and sees that it's her best friend, gwen stacy. her scolding face is all that y/n needs to know what she's going to say.

"stop thinking about him..and stop staring too. don't forget y/n he treated you like shit. he forgot anniversaries, your own birthday, and god must i continue y/n?!" the blonde raised her voice as her friend only looked at her with a disappointed frown. she inhales and exhales deeply before switching her tone of voice to something more softer and less harsh.

"look...i know you love him but you just have to move on. it was agonizing seeing you get treated like that. you don't deserve that honey" she gently spoke, resting a hand on her shoulder

"but gwen he's so cute ! when he walks into class looking so good it's like he's inviting me to take him back !" y/n pouted as gwen only groaned

"you're missing the point y/n ! he ended things and didn't even bother trying to put in effort." the bell had rang, breifly interupting her setence "...don't go chasing after someone who treats you like dirt. especially if they don't want anything to do with you. now cmon let's go, we have a test next period" gwen said as she left class

y/n followed behind gwen, her mind now racing with gwen's advice and flashbacks of her and peter's relationship. her words echo throughout all the memories. for a split second she's ready to take gwen's advice but when she sees peter walking past her, she forgets everything she was just told.

later that night y/n sat in her room watching a movie, hoping it'll take her mind off her ex boyfriend. as the movie plays, y/n can feel herself drifiting off to sleep. her eyes got tired and weary before the ding of her phone interupted her slumber.

"you up?"

"i miss you"

her eyes nearly pop out of her head when she sees the messages. her heart sinks to the floor when she recongizes that it's peter who texted her. without thinking and in a panic she calls gwen. as the phone rings y/n paces throughout her room, praying that she picks up.

"hey y/n what's up? everything okay?" gwen's voice rings from the other side with concern

"he texted me ! he fucking texted me gwen !" y/n shouts

"oh my god really? what did he say?"

"asked if i was up and said he missed me. oh my god gwen what do i do?? i talked about taking him back but now that i have a chance to i don't even know !!! gwen cmon help me you're like the angel on my shoulder and i'm my own devil on the other side"

"okay first thing's first, you don't reply. you leave him on delievered and you keep him on delivered. no matter what he says or texts you, don't even consider giving in alright?"

y/n's phone dings one more time, loud enough for gwen to hear as well. it was another text from peter.

"open your window pretty girl. miss you so much. can't stand being away from you anymore"

her heartbeat was pumping. he was just outside and the opportunity of getting him back was just at the finger tips.

"y/n? you okay? what was that? who texted you?" gwen's voice on the other end was becoming static. she couldn't think about anything but letting him back into her home, and into her life. she opens the window and just outside is peter and god did he look good.

"hey pretty girl" he grinned as he let himself in

he took her by the waist and kissed her passionately. in that moment y/n was gone, she didn't care if gwen would scold her, all that mattered to her was that she was finally with peter again. his touch beginning to make her body melt like putty.

"god i missed that so much..." he panted, breath heavy from the kiss he just shared with y/n

"y/n is that peter??? what is he doing there? did you take him back? oh my god y/n i told you-" she was cut short by peter hanging up the phone. he tossed it to the side and continue to kiss her.

he slowly brought her down to her bed, slowly trailing down from her lips to her neck. she's too lost in him to say anything and too deep to turn back. her mind goes blank as she feels him reach those famillar spots he always knew how to reach. god did she miss him so.

+my opinion, since I’ve watched all of them for this post

1. I Feel You Linger in the Air (8,9/10)

DESCRIPTION: Jom is an architect responsible for the renovation of a historic house alongside the Ping River. There he discovers a wooden chest packed with old drawings, drawings that look strangely familiar. The contents are intriguing. However, Jom doesn't have time to concern himself with them; he has plans to reunite with his boyfriend. For years, Jom has been counting the days till his boyfriend would return from his far away studies, only to find him engaged to someone else on his return. Heartbroken, Jom comes to a place of acceptance as he mistakenly runs his car into the river. In the cold darkness, Jom catches the sweet scent of fresh frangipani flowers coming from the stream and in the distance, he can make out a deep, gentle voice pronouncing clearly, "Pho Jom."

MY TAKE: Well deserved first place. It’s the best Thai drama I’ve ever seen and I really hope we’ll get more like this one in the future. Everything was on point - the costumes, the acting, the cinematography. The relationship between the main characters felt real and absolutely believe, especially thanks to P’Bright (Khun Yai), who delievered everything well through his eyes. The story made me emotional to the point I cried like a baby at the end, which didn’t happen for a really long time. To be honest, I could rewatch this series without ever getting bored because of how unique and heartwarming it was. If I were to criticise anything, I’d choose the fact that Jom seemed quite bland during the first few episodes and also the way Khun Yai wasn’t cautious at all with their relationship despite living around the 1920s. However, it can be explained by some things from the novel, which I’m considering to write a post about. Aside from the romance plot, IFYLITA discussed the topic of women’s opression and offered a lesbian sub-plot that made the story even better. I recommend everyone to watch it, it’s ridiculous how little recognition the series got from the BL fandom!

2. The Sign (8,6/10)

DESCRIPTION: For as long as Tharn can remember, he's had premonitions about those around him, sensing both the good and the bad. Partners on a team of special investigators, when kind and cheerful Tharn met clever and charming Phaya, it felt as though they'd known each other for a long time.

MY TAKE: Another gem showing that the industry is slowly heading to a new, better direction. The plot contains lots of action scenes, investigations and Thai mythology elements, which I don’t think have been used in any series before, at least not in a well known one. I’m a sucker for reinarnation and soulmates motives, I wish Tharn and Phaya believed in each other more though. It was frustrating to see them fight so much. Some of the comedy scenes made me cringe, too. Still, the story was solid and engaging, especially thanks to Tharn and Phaya’s relationship complexity. During some scenes CGI was used and I have to admit they must have spent some budget on it. It’s the third Idolfactory’s drama and they definitely get better with every project. More series like The Sign!

3. Last Twilight (8,5/10)

DESCRIPTION: Burdened with heavy debt, Mhok, a technical college student, applies for a high-paying job as a caregiver to Day, a badminton player with partial blindness due to infectious keratitis. Day hires Mhok who—unlike other applicants—seems to take no pity on him. With so much time spent in each others' company, the two develop a deep bond. When Day learns he'll have approximately 90 days until he loses what vision he has remaining, how will the two weather the trials ahead?

MY TAKE: I’m gonna be honest, I fell in love with Last Twilight very quickly. The acting was top-notch - I think P’Sea portrayed a blind character really well despite having vision and P’Jimmy… P’Jimmy was just on another level of greatness. Just like P’Bright, his eyes told everything. Every emotion could be seen clearly and he efortlessly made Mhok the viewer’s favourite. Mhok itself was a mature, selfless person, but with Jimmy’s portrayal I think it’s even harder not to love him, not be enchanted by him. I found the story heartwarming and moving, beautifully culminating in the last scene of the 9th episode. At that moment I’ve felt that both Day and Mhok’s journey found some sort of an ending, maybe terribly sad, but also with some sweetness in it. Throughout the whole series it was Mhok teaching Day how to live again after losing his sight and encouraging him to stand on his own legs again. In the 9th episode though it seemed like the dynamic shifted somehow, showing that Day reached some maturity that Mhok haven’t had yet, and that he could help him with his grief too. The whole message of Last Twilight was delivered fully then. However, what happened later completely ruined it. I understand that P’Aof wanted LT to be realistic and because of that he decided to face the fact that Mhok can’t be Day’s caretaker forever. But all of this was handled poorly, seemed rushed especially after 11 episode and I couldn’t bear to watch one of my favourite series trashing itself. After that it was also imposible to ignore the issues I had with Mhok and Day’s relationship anymore, especially the August plot. I hated how although Day showed huge interest in Mhok on the beginning, he suddenly revealed his crush on other boy and he seemed really bothered by Mhok’s confession, too. What a mess. Porjai and Night’s subplot was great though, I liked both the characters and their relationship. I recommend everyone to just watch episodes 1-9 despite some disappointments on the way.

4. Not Me (8,5/10)

DESCRIPTION: Black and White are twins with a powerful connection. After their parents' separation, though, White’s father took him abroad, and their family effectively severed in two. It isn’t until fifteen years have passed that White—now grown—returns to Thailand. One day, seemingly from nowhere, White feels an agony like death. He recovers in the hospital, but they’re unable to determine the cause. Then he picks up a call from a childhood friend, Tod. Tod tells him that Black is in a coma following a vicious attack, and he learns that Black is in a motorcycle gang. Unable to endure the harm done to his brother in silence, and suspecting it was one of Black’s close friends—Sean, Gram, or Yok—who betrayed him, White disguises himself as Black to root out the traitor. But White doesn’t know his brother as well as he thought; he’s not behaving like the Black Sean knows, distrustful and uncaring about the feelings of others. Sean's suspicious. The difference gets under Sean's skin and makes him feel things he shouldn’t.

MY TAKE: I’ve actually first started watching Not Me around the time it was coming out, but I became bored around the half of it, so I’ve seen the rest of the episodes just recently. It’s refreshing to receive a politics and society problems oriented BL, this series without doubt was mature and one of a kind. Not Me took on many issues the modern Thailand still faces, struggling with democracy, human rights and equality. The relationship between White and Sean was another difficult thing here with its complexity, as they faced their opposite ideas for making a change - Sean being more reckless and hotheaded, while White more rational and fragile mentally. They went through many stages and although they were allies, it’d call it an enemies to lovers dynamic. I felt connected to both of them - to White because I agreed with his methods more and to Sean because of his abandonment issues. What they had was not pretty, no, it was raw and even rough at times, however, they managed to build mutual trust and the ending was satisfying. Definitely recommend!

5. A Tale of Thousand Stars (8,5/10)

DESCRIPTION: After a volunteer teacher Torfun dies in a tragic accident, her heart is transplanted into Tian. Tian learns about his donor’s life through a series of diary entries that reveal her secrets and interests. Included is her promise to count a thousand stars with Chief Forest Officer Phupha. Tian decides to follow in Torfun's footsteps and fulfill her promise. Now a new volunteer teacher himself, Tian attempts to befriend Phupha who initially gives him the cold shoulder. As the two grow steadily closer, Tian notices his new heart beats quickly whenever he's near the officer. Much like the heart’s previous owner, Tian cannot help but fall for Phupha. Treading on dangerous ground, can he still go through with the thousand-star promise?

MY TAKE: It’s such a classic that I don’t know if there’s anyone who hasn’t heard of it yet, but let’s proceed! 1000 stars for years took a special place in my heart, as it was one of few good Thai BL during the time it came out. I loved the rural atmosphere of Pha Pun Dao and the process of Tian adapting to life in the village. The story was slow, warm and sort of pure, although the tension and chemistry were there. Big kudos for the scene in which Tian came to the conclusion that his feelings for Phupha mean he likes men, since that wasn’t a standard in the „I don’t like men, I only like you” era. Another thing is, P’Mix (Tian), who was a rookie back then, played his role so well that I would never suspect it’s his first time acting! Recommend for anyone seeking comfort, even if it gets sad by the end.

6. My School President (8,5/10)

DESCRIPTION: Student body president Tinn has a secret crush on Gun, the head of the music club and lead singer of the middling band Chinzhilla. The son of the principal, Tinn is instructed to axe any clubs that don't boost their school's reputation. The music club tops that list and Tinn is therefore Gun's number one enemy. Desperate to save his club, Gun will do anything, even pledge servitude to Tinn. When Tinn learns Chinzhilla has a rule that band members aren't permitted to date until they win the Hot Wave Music Contest, he vows to do whatever it takes to help them do just that.

MY TAKE: At first the fact that the story takes place in a high school setting put me off, as I prefer watching young adult stories, but I gave it a shot because of the good reviews. And after watching it I can say it was definitely worth it. My School President is a silly rom-com that delicately touches some more serious issues. Nevertheless, it was a light watch. N'Gemini and N'Fourth delievered an excellent performance, accurately and realistically portraying the main couple. Maybe it’s because they are just slightly older than the characters, so it was easier for them to understand them. I also still listen to MSP soundtracks. Aside from being simply good pieces of music, they make me feel positive and refreshed everytime I hear them. It’s like an energizer.

7. Bad Buddy (8,4/10)

DESCRIPTION: Ever since they were young, Pran and Pat's families had a deep and raging rivalry, trying to one-up each other on everything. This also extended to their sons. Comparing their sons' achievements and merits,—whether it be academic or extracurricular—the two families leave no stone unturned to outshine and gloat in front of the other. The rivalry was passed down as a family heirloom and the two boys become rivals in turn. Until... they grow tired and become friends. Really good friends. However, because of their families' rivalry, their friendship has to be kept under wraps. And so began a journey of secret friendship... and then perhaps a secret romance?

MY TAKE: This is another series I’ve dropped in half and picked up just recently. Although the entire enemies since birth plot seemed a little bit Wattpad-ish to me, I’ve still enjoyed Bad Buddy a lot. The relationship of Pat and Pran was fun and realistic, they also had good chemistry together, probably due to the actor’s long-lasting frienship. There was something about them that just seemed so natural. Big plus for verse rights and lesbian sub-plot. The only thing I’m not content with was that instead of working things through with their families, the scriptwriters decided to just make Pat and Pran lie and avoid the topic. It could have been handled in a better way.

8. Moonlight Chicken (8,3/10)

DESCRIPTION: Jim is an ordinary guy running a Hainanese chicken rice diner. One night, he meets breezy Wen when he stays past closing drunk. Brought together by fate that night, intangible feelings arise. Neither can stop thinking about the other despite Jim's efforts to remain unattached. Working at the diner are Jim's nephew Li Ming, Saleng, and occasionally chicken supplier Kaipa who doesn't mind having an excuse to see him.

MY TAKE: I’m a Chinese learner and liked P’Earth and P’Mix’s performance in 1000 stars a lot, so I was looking forward for Moonlight Chicken to come out. The relationship between Jim and Wen disappointed me a bit, as it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. They started off from a one night stand and Jim was doing everything he could to keep things this way, with Wen persistently trying to change his mind. I’m still happy though, because the series maturely portrayed real life problems of Thai people. Jim, as an adult, was a person tied by chores and responsibilities of a restaurant owner and legal guardian for his teenager nephew. It’s understandable for him to take more things than just his feelings into consideration, especially since he was older than Wen. The problems between them made the series even more realistic, but N’Gemini (Heart) and N’Fourth (Li Ming) undoubtebly stole this show from the main couple. Not good for people wanting to watch something romantic and fluffy, nevertheless, still good.

9. Triage (8,3/10)

DESCRIPTION: Third-year emergency medicine resident Tin has to cope with a deluge of different patients every day. Up until the eighteenth, that is. Tin's life is transformed when university student Tol's car is overturned, and he's rushed to the emergency room in serious condition. That night doesn't end when Tin fails to save Tol's life, though. When Tin next wakes, he finds himself in a time loop, a loop he won't be able to leave until he's altered Tol's fate.

MY TAKE: Triage was a slowburn and it took quite a few episodes for the main couple to start developing feelings, as the time loops didn’t help in building any kind of closeness. They had good chemistry though and I really liked the performance of every actor in this series. Also! The! Plot! It was truly a masterpiece. It turned out that Triage novel is another work of Manner of Death’s author and that those two are actually connected. Doctor Bun and Tan appear in one episode of Triage and if MoD season 2 actually happens, it will be a continuation of the mystery after Triage’s ending. About the ending itself, it wasn’t satisfying. Also, why do I feel like they got some inspiration from the movie Bruce Almighty?

10. To Sir, With Love (8,3/10)

DESCRIPTION: The Five Dragon Guild is under the leadership of Jao Sua Song. He's skilled and in control in business, but things in the family have become chaotic. By his main wife Li, he has his eldest son Thian. He has a secondary wife Jan with whom he has a son named Yang and he has a mistress named Bua. In a Chinese family, masculinity is prized. Thian is the face of the family, the one who will eventually succeed Song, who will carry the power his father has built. Khun Chai is not a position just anyone is suited to. The love between two men is obstructed by Chinese society.

MY TAKE: Everthing was good here - the acting, the costumes, the setting... a high quality series indeed. I especially loved brotherly bond between Tian and Yang, as it was the purest and the most wholesome thing in this drama. The murder plot was interesting too. However, all of this was simply too prolonged. Because everyone for 17 1-hour episodes straight was running around and trying to find that Tian’s homosexual, they may as well just name the series Tian’s secret. I got sick of it around 9th episode and there were still 8 more. It’s a pity that it completely ruined To Sir, With Love for me. Tian and Jiu, the main couple, didn’t receive many screentime, so it was quite unsatisfying too.

That whole month of additional chores was SO worth it (also Trey's baked goodies delievered by a cheery Cater everyday helped).

Octavinelle, oh no. Their friend loved swimming that they almost got lost a few times during the journey down the water, if not for the ever dutiful Jack pulling them back again and again. Floyd, Jade and his BFF almost killed each other they - for some reason the injuries their friend got was even worse than the full-brawl they received from Leona. Ah, but well, it's the leech brothers, what else they were expecting, really.

That day Azul received the Solid Left Hook™.

after much persuasion, they finally manage to send the fox his way. she watches silently as the animal descended down the mountains before being obscured by the raging snow.

"... starlight."

"hmm?"

"is everything okay? you seem a little absentminded today."

"huh? oh... yeah, everything's fine! sorry, i'm just... i stayed up late last night so i'm just a little sleepy."

AAAAAHHHHHHHH THAT WAS AN AMAZING READ, i'm not joking when i tell you that it has me kicking my feet and all. sorry this will be long but it's just so !!!!!!@!@!@!@!@@ 🫣🫣🫣🫣

In part 1, i loved how you do the scene of : mc noticing chrollo's overall apathy when he saw someone spilled coffee (i feel like chrollo...is the kind of person who doesn't rly show his emotion unless he can gain something from it, like when he "helps" neon) until it sinks in his mind that mc is his soulmate that he's quick to move + when he's wayyyy too interested in the mc's reactions when he drugged her

also, you make use of chrollo's charm point and that's what make me go feral like AGHDSFHDFSHD, that man (canonically) knows he's attractive to some degree (not just for his looks) and he used it to his advantage, of course even if it can be considered as "against" his soulmate

and this line...LORD - “Now that I’ve found you, I don’t plan on losing you any time soon? (...)” i feel like it's not that he "found her" in a genuine sense of the word like yk a niche cliche serendipitous meeting in a cafe and all that jazz. the way he phrased this plus the "coincidence" of mc finding his contact in the pocket of his coat make it sound more of, that, maybe he's been watching her for a while and on the day he's maybe on a lil break of his stalkerish schedule, that's when he officially meets the mc

“She knows how this will end. Best to let her get it out of her system before we get to that point.” GAHHHH THIS IS REALLY THE TURNING POINT FOR ME

Following to part 2, he purposely give mc a slight reprieve from the whole situation by running away + making that as a "lesson" and then gaslit the mc because, really after all he's done for her, taking care of her whether it's financially, emotionally or even physically, this is the way to pay him back? He spins the narrative onto the mc into some kind of "the crazy runaway wife even though she had the best partner someone could ever ask for, not to mention that they're soulmates- that's really a no brainer move on her part, don't you think so?" not to mention the power dynamics

And if chrollo's love has not been genuine at all, a passerby who heard the twisted narrative might sympathize with mc but the love is genuine, just twisted but yk...it's because they're soulmates that the pair should know better of the ahem "shortcomings" of one another because they were bound together in this life...or maybe even the next

He knows, Mc knows, and the troupe understand too that at this point mc is not just a butterfly unaware of the danger when it unintentionally flies towards a spider-web, but more so that the web is built around the mc instead, there has never been a way to escape it. Most, if not all the parts where chrollo has been seen as loving is genuine but at the same time, rather calculated just to ensnare the butterfly. Except the butterfly will not be eaten, not quite so at least, but it will be always under the stare of the spider even if it still struggles to escape

i might have missed some points but for now this is what's on top in my head

Synopsis: Levi is forced out of his comfy dorm room and in a strange twist of events right into your arms at a college party.

"No."

"But I haven't even finished the question yet.." Hange sighed

"You want me to come to one of these pointless weekend parties that you go to almost every Saturday." Levi responded, fingers clicking quickly against his laptops keyboard.

"Come on Levi, if I got forced into going you have to come too." Erwin said with exasperation thick in his tone.

"How did you stupidly end up saying yes?" Levi questioned looking up from his laptop with a small raise of his brow.

Erwin shook his head almost in shame. "Hange offered to purchase that book I've wanted all semester. The one I couldn't find for any cheaper than 350." He shrugged, "Speaking of which how do you plan on paying for it?"

"Don't worry about that. Worry about the party we're all going to have so much fun at tonight."

"I said no." Levi grunted

"Oh come on!" Hange's voice echoed in the small dorm room.

"What else are you going to be doing? You know besides staring at a screen all night and cleaning Mike's side of the room?"

Mike was an over all good roommate despite his cluttered space. Levi had known him his entire almost three years of college and after a while they'd become friends. Though Levi still sometimes found himself cleaning up after Mike because he just couldn't stand the growing clothes pile on the other side of the room.

"So what?" Levi shrugged rereading the same paragraph again because Hange kept distracting him.

"So?! Do you really wanna sit in here on a Saturday night again instead of going to get some pussy like Mike is probably doing?"

"That's so inappropriate Hange." Erwin commented

"Take the stick out of your ass we're all grownups here." Hange replied shooting Erwin a weak stare which Erwin reciprocated. "Come on! What'd I have to do to get you to come?"

Levi rubbed his eyelids. He knew this would pretty much be his night if he didn't go but parties definitely weren't his thing. Though somehow this might be mildly worse.

"One fucking hour. No more no less." He finally agreed

"YES!" Hange screamed so loud it could probably be heard in the building next door.

"Look who else stupidly ended up saying yes." Erwin smirked

"Shut up, I just want to be able to work in silence sometime tonight.

"Sure sure."

"Get ready! We'll be waiting downstairs!" Hange bounced

It took Levi about thirty minutes to get ready. His attire comprised of a dark red shirt, black dress pants and a black jacket hung over his shoulder. He hopped into Hange's car ignoring the groans of how this was a party not a funeral and how him and Erwin sucked at having fun.

He hadn't even entered the front door yet and he was already praying for this hour to be quick. He didn't technically have to rush back to his paper since he was ahead of schedule for all of his classes. But he still hated to leave an unfinished paper just lying around. Even if only for an hour.

The drive was surprisingly (and thankfully) pretty short. Though Levi was surprised when they headed into a dorm building. Hange took the lead as they climbed up the stairs though the higher they got the worse the smell got.

Erwin coughed fanning his face, "God that is an ungodly odor." And Levi quickly followed suit wrinkling his nose.

"Can't have a party without it." Hange replied with a small laugh.

"Disgusting." Levi responded

"You can definitely have a party without weed." Erwin groaned

"Your stuffy book meetings are parties Erwin."

Levi almost wanted to laugh at this but he kept his composure. They finally rounded a corner coming up to a door where a guy and a girl were outstretched on the floor. Both of whom had drinks in their hands. They both greeted Hange and Hange quickly greeted them back.

"Alright boys. Time to party." She delighted

The booming music that Levi could hear out in the hallway went from mildly obnoxious to instantly pounding. Levi hated it. He might have to find a way to sneak out before the hour was up. Though at the moment Hange was pulling both him and Erwin by their collars as if she was scared either of them would make a run for it.

"You guys hungry?!" She asked "Let's go get some chips!"

It felt like the farther in you went the worse the godforsaken music sounded. And in such a small dorm. How was everyone not deaf? Somehow though it looked like almost everyone was ignoring the music. There were people on the floor making out, people talking, a guy laying in the sink with a lampshade over his head..

And throughout all of it Hange was getting greeted left and right. It was honestly weird seeing as Levi had never seen Hange with anyone other than him and Erwin. They finally reached the snack table where Hange quickly shoved the bowl of chips into Levi's hands.

Levi grumbled but Hange just smiled, "Come on guys, Loosen up this is your first party after all!" She sighed, loudly rubbing both of their backs.

Levi wordless handed the chip bowl to Erwin. "I've been to parties." Erwin replied, taking a chip and slowly chewing it.

"Your fifteenth birthday is not what I'm talking about." She huffed, "You guys are totally missing out on what makes college fun!"

"Watching people shove their tongues into each other's mouths and get drunk in a room that is far too hot and too crowded while music bumps obnoxiously over every word you say so you have to lose your voice screaming?"

"Yes! Isn't that great?!" Erwin and Levi simultaneously groaned over Hange's enthusiasm. "Here, come on have a beer!" She handed both boys a bottle. Levi stared at it plainly, that is until a voice shakes him from his gaze.

"Hey Hange!" This voice is much sweeter. So much more comforting to hear than the agitating speaker. He looked up in time to freeze in his place. His eyes transfixed on the person currently in front of him.

"Y/N! Hey, I didn't know you were coming out tonight."

"Yeah, my roommate forced me. She said I've been too stressed lately." Her smile was bright under all the strobe lights. Everything about her felt bright from her eyes to the shimmer of her hair. Was her hair shimmering? Maybe it was Levi's imagination.

Y/N? Was that what Hange called her? What a pretty name for such a pretty girl.. How could Hange know someone like you?

"You remember Erwin right?" Hange asked, which temporarily shook Levi from his thoughts.

Erwin stuck out his hand, "Hi again Y/N." Erwin knew you too??

"Hey! Erwin, let me guess you still haven't found that impressively old book full of research from like 1853?" Their hands stayed together for a minute longer than Levi would've liked.

"Incorrect, the only reason I'm here is because I found it."

She nodded her smile still warm and giving Levi a warmth that spread through his abdomen like a flame. "Sorry, I'm a little off my radar tonight. I'm the designated deliverer. Deliever because I'm just walking my drunk friends a couple floors down later."

Hange gave a brief laugh, "Where is Sasha by the way?"

Y/N searched for a second. "I'm hoping she's across the hall because I've been trying to escape all this noise all night."

"Oh! Right by the way this is Levi!"

Y/N's gaze turned from Hange to Levi and she stretched out her hand. "Oh hi Levi." She said

"H-H-Hi.." Levi said, hand shaking as he placed it in her's. She giggled and Levi swore he felt her thumb rub the back of his hand.

"Well, I better go look for Sasha. I can't go back to our room till she's with me. Come across the hall later I'll probably still be there."

"Sure, sounds good!" Hange replied

Y/N smiled, "Nice to see you again Erwin, Bye Levi."

Levi could've sworn up and down that Y/N had said his name differently. She had to have right? Her tone was so sultry.. the words ran through Levi's brain replying over and over. Shivers coursing up and down his spine-

"I can't tell if Levi looks red from the strobe lights or if he's flushed." Levi turned at Erwin's words cupping his face before grunting at how hot he felt.

Oh no..

"I can't believe you have crush on my friend!"

Levi felt his face grow even hotter. "I don't! Sh-shut up." He outwardly huffed over how pathetic he was being. His heart felt so heavy in his chest

"OH MY GOD SO CUTE!!" Surprisingly enough Hange caught the attention of a few people. "THIS'LL BE GREAT! I CAN BE YOUR WINGMAN!"

"Shut the fuck up Hange!" Levi practically growled. Erwin nodded to the people staring at them. "Shut up.. I-I don't have a crush on her.."

Hange finally stopped bouncing and weirdly fell silent as she stood staring at her best friend. "Fine, let's go across the hall then."

Levi's heart instantly fluttered. "But we just got here?" Erwin said, seemingly questioning his own weird reluctance to go across the hall when he definitely hated it here as much as Levi.

"No real reason. I mean. It's just that it's quieter over there. Everyone over there is just drinking and talking." Hange responded already walking towards the door. Levi felt his feet move without his consent practically bumping into Hange's back as he hurried out behind her. Erwin quickly following.

Hange knocked twice on the door across the hall. And the three of them walked in. And Levi didn't even realize how much of a relief it was to be here until the smell hit his noise and the peaceful chatter hit his ears.

Hange huffed but Levi barely noticed, his eyes scanning the room for Y/N.

"It's so quiet here. I'm not fond of this I might go back across the hall and you guys can stay here."

Erwin immediately protested, "We don't know anyone here."

"Yeah, but I didn't even get to enjoy the music!" Hange pouted stomping slightly like a child.

"You forced us to come now you have to stay with us." Erwin replied, "Besides-" he looked at Levi who was staring at three slightly cracked doors. "This could be way better."

"Soooooooo!" Hange smirked, elbowing Levi's shoulder.

Levi immediately tended up at the feeling. His gaze steely and cold. "What?"

"How are you gonna ask out Y/N?"

Levi's face betrayed him, turning a deep red at the spur of the moment question. "I'm not asking shit."

"Oh come on! I did not bring you two to this party for absolutely nothing exciting to happen."

"If you like her you should tell her Levi." Erwin replied honestly

Levi scowled, "I don't.."

"Yeah ok so let's pretend you're not talking out of your ass." Hange says, leading both boys over to the couch. "Nevermind we can't cause you're talking out of your ass."

"Tch."

"Is she even here?" Erwin asked

Levi did a quick look around once more just as you were coming out of the bedroom. A loud sigh falling off your lips.

"Hey!" She smiled "Didn't expect to see you guys so soon again."

"Oh yeah well, we just couldn't wait to see you again." Hange remarked ignoring the daggers Levi was sending her. "Come sit with us." Hange offers.

Y/N moves closer to sit between Hange and Erwin until Hange places a hand on her back. "No no no, you don't wanna sit here.. Erwin just let one rip. The whole room is gonna smell soon." She waved her hand in front of her nose and Erwin glared at her. "Sit next to Levi!" She offered

A part of Levi was genuinely thinking about how much Hange would sell for on Amazon while another part of him was relieved for the small plop of the seat next to him as you sat down. The way you reached forward to grab the tea cup you'd placed on the table.

It was easier now to see your curves and as much as Levi tried to hide his staring he couldn't help it. His eyes raking over every inch of your body he could see. Luckily you weren't paying attention to the way the tips of his ears grew redder by the second.

"You put her to sleep in someone else's room?" Hange laughed

"Well I think they're ordering another pizza so she's probably gonna wake up when she smells that."

And your smell.. Levi couldn't tell if it was your hair or your body but your smell was intoxicating right now. So mellow and sweet yet strong and vibrant.

"Uggghhh good cause I'm starving!"

Y/N laughed, "Ah I remember when I had to hear something like that every morning."

"That English class was way too early in the morning and you know it!" Hange laughed. Erwin had turned to his phone clearly more relaxed by the atmosphere.

"So, Levi what's your major?" Y/N suddenly turned to ask.

Levi blinked, then opened his mouth only to shut it again. His eyes were practically bulging and he felt like his face would melt off.

"He's business law." Hange helped clearly also holding in a laugh as Levi could only nod quietly.

"Oh. You know I know someone whose in-

"Y/N.. Where's my bed.." All four of you turned at once as a brown haired girl stumbled around in the space. "My bed.." she repeated staggering around.

"Ooo ok, you want you want your bed?" Y/N stood grabbing hold of the girl's waist. She giggled in delight and Y/N rubbed her back with a grin. "I'm gonna take Sasha downstairs."

"Are you going to come back?" Erwin asked and Levi was relieved in a way because he definitely wouldn't be able to get the words out.

"Mm, I don't think so. I'll see if she goes down easy then I might." She shrugged and Sasha giggled again. "Alright, time for bed." She chirped leading the girl in her arms out and soon far away from Levi's view.

He felt his stomach twist. Silently wishing he knew what being held like that by you felt like.

Favourite Character: Catra! Loved her from the first promotional picture. After the first season I got a poster of her on my wall and then spent the next few years desperately hoping for her redemption/happiness, and s5 delieved both and absolutely cemented her as my #1

least favourite character: Hordak. If people like him that’s fine, I just don’t get it. Like, I hate Horde Prime and Shadow Weaver - but it’s because your supposed to and they’re good antagonists. With Hordak we never saw much of him as an antagonist before we were supposed to sympathise with him (which I did not), and I don’t really care for either villain or sort-of-redemmed Hordak. 

Wrong Hordak on the other hand.... amazing. 

brOTP: Best Friend Squad!! And I love Catra and Scorpia as a dynamic duo

OTP: Catradora! They’re my #3 favourite ship of all time

OT3: Glitradora - you get the friends-enemies-friends-lovers of Catradora, the princess and her knight of Glimmadora, and the enemies/narrative foils of Glitra. Love it! All their different dynamics as wonderful. 

NOTP: Aside from like, the canon lesbian characters being shipped with guys (gross) or any bad age-gap/power imbalance ships (also gross) there’s nothing I really dislike. I’m not a fan on Entrapta and Hordak as a romantic couple, I see them more as a qpr, but they’re not so much a ‘notp’ as just something I don’t personally ship

Favourite storyline: SAVE THE CAT!!! Corridors set everything up beautifully, but fighting someone you love who’s being mind controlled to attack you is one of the BEST TROPES ever and everything else about the episode is so amazing. Glimmer getting revenge, Bow and Entrapta meeting Wrong Hordak, Horde Prime as a terrifying villain, Catra becoming a part of the team and the way Adora brings back She-Ra!?!?!?! 

10/10 absolutely wonderful. Princess Prom is also up there

Least favourite storyline: Protocol. Very boring. I don’t like Light Hope, and while I love the Horde Trio I was hoping for a lot more with them throughout the show and this was their big moment?? Disappointing. Other than this one, the rest of the show is good. 

what I wish had happened but didn’t: honestly the 5th season was amazing and really satisfying. There were two sets of characters I felt were underused, but they were minor characters in the first place so I get it, but I still wish we’d seen more of Huntara and the Horde Trio. 

Also while Scorfuma is wonderful, I’d been shipping Lonnie x Scorpia since s2 and Perfuma x Huntara since s4 - they both had such amazing chemistry and dynamics!! I wish they’d ended up together (with proper build up), or at least got to interact again. 

what happened that I wish hadn’t: Angella and Mara dying rather than being trapped in the portal (I think it’s still implied they’re trapped? But... impossible to get to or something?) And no one talks about it again!! The team needs to go save them! I understand fighting Horde Prime took priority, but I wish there’d been a mention of an idea or design or something to use for the future. 

Holding out for that in a She-Ra movie!!!

My dumbass got 600+ words into a new work before I remembered that Penny never studied under Malistaire. Maybe you could think of this as a “Sylvia doesn’t die, and the death school doesn’t get blown up, and Malistaire is able to teach Penny” AU. 

Have what I had and what I finished before I proceeded to smack my head against the wall for a few minutes. Enjoy!

His junior students were more terrified of him than they were the magic they were about to learn. He didn't know what they'd heard about him, or what image of him already resided in their heads, but that didn't matter. He could work on that later, if he so chose. His first job was to be an instructor, a friend second.

Or so he thought.

On the list of new pupils picking up necromancy as their secondary school this semester, one name stood out to him.

“Dreadful.”

He knew those folks. They had seen each other when Malistaire had first arrived in Wizard City, and they were glad to see another death wizard in town, much more one that hailed from Dragonspyre. instead of being turned away thanks to his origins, they were intrigued. There was respect in that, and in a society where necromancers were treated with distance at best, it wasn't unwelcome.

She’s got his mother's hair, he observed that morning. Cut into messy layers hidden under her timberwolf-dyed hood. Well, a lot of his students chose to cover themselves, so at least she didn't stick out, if that's what she'd hoped for.

He got a glimpse of her entire face when he called attendance.

"H-Here, sir!"

Shy, but determined. He admired that. Did her parents tell her who she'd been learning under? Likely. That meant they still held him in high respects. Thank Merlin.

If his brother ever cared to leave his schoolhouse, he might have been happy to discuss the merits of a good legacy.

 At the end of the day, Professor Malistaire wasn't quite ready to go home. Was it worth holding her after just to chat? Or did he want to catch up with her parents, instead? Both were true, he decided.

Just write them a letter. It's more convenient for everyone, some rational voice in his brain said. Dreadful already had some light homework to complete, amongst other things, like moving in, making new friends, learning her away around the city. insignificant things, sure.

"Excuse me, Professor Malistaire?" called a small voice from the front door.

At the back of the room, a girl in ill-fitting robes clutching her bookbag sheepishly let herself back in.

He smiled.

"Welcome back, Dreadful. You're about, ah, thirteen hours early for class."

She giggled, taking a few more steps inside.

"I take my education very seriously, sir," she replied. "I-um, I had a letter to deliever. From my parents." From her bag, she produced a wine colored envelope with a shinny white wax seal. Marleybonians and their fancy stationary.

"You-you knew my mom and dad, right?" Penny anxiously asked.

"Of course." he assured, glancing at the letter. "They were some of my first friends when I arrived here. It's a shame we haven't gotten to talk in years. Now they have a girl of their own," he said, looking to Penny. "Clearly, I have a lot to catch up on."

"Ah-it's not really your fault, sir.”

“How so?”

“Well . . .” She sat back down in her seat, the one closest to his desk, he realized. “They got new jobs in Marleybone. They’re military engineers now, or something like that. They design sky ships for the Royal Guard to use, I think.”

Ah. He could see where this was going. Well, maybe it would comfort her to explain that he understood.

“So they’ve been busy. But they still wanted you to have a proper education here, so they gave you what they could, and off you went. And this-“

He held up the letter. Her smile had fallen, and she blinked quickly at something behind him instead of turning away.

“This is them trying to do the same thing as I am. Keep up correspondence. Am I right?”

“Yes, sir,” nodded Penny. “At least I keep trying to tell myself that,” she squeaked.

She crossed her arms and rubbed her eye with the sleeve of her robe. “Sorry, I shouldn’t-“

She sighed, trying to collect herself. Her shoulders rose up to her ears. The room was quiet, and all he could do was give her a moment to calm down.

Before she could speak again, she hung her head low and let out a soft sob.

In the core of his chest, something inside him cracked.

“Oh . . . it’s alright,” he soothed. “Don’t cry, girl.”

He got out of his chair. His movements were swift, but careful. Something carried him to where she stood, shrunken into herself while she frantically swiped at her eyes.

He towered over her. She was so small.

Professor Malistaire put his arms around her and brought her to her feet. Even then, the top of her hood barely met his shoulders. Her chest still heaved with broken inhales, but she didn’t  flinch. Like she was being comforted by an old friend. In a way, that was true. He was old, and he was a friend.

“Your parents love you dearly. I have no doubt about that. But if they can’t be here for you, then I will.”

At least, he hoped he was a friend.

“I promise you will always be cared about in my schoolhouse.”

He hoped this was what she needed.

Her crying stilled. She sniffled against his chest and took a deep breath.

And then, a pair of small arms wrapped around him in return.
