Every day we’re closer for a confirmation that Vecna is going after the Wheelers in s5. This is a win for me.

Random question: Would you consider yourself a shipper of MSR (i.e. the series would be lacking a lot to you without the romance) or just that the relationship is a natural beat of the show? I read the point-by-point revival article you posted and was curious what your stance on that point is :)
The romance was baked into it from the start, imo, because Spotnitz and CC cast DD and GA for their insane chemistry (though CC never admitted it openly like Spotnitz did-- Gillian ratted Chris out. XDD) The nature of the show was to hold it off as long as possible, like the old Westerns where the kiss only happens when the battle is over and the sun is setting. It's the romantism that CC was going for, I believe.
Yes, the romance is a huge part of it. But really? I'm not someone who becomes obsessed with romance for romance's sake-- I dislike a lot of rom coms, for instance-- and the early friendship building blocks are crucial to the depth of the MSR dynamic for me. :DDDD
The eternal question: are they soulmates? The early years of the show didn't intend for them to be so-- more or less that they were bound together on Mulder's quest against everything. But the longer the show went on, the more fate became a reoccurring topic of conversation; and I believe Carter steered it in that direction. I'm not complaining, personally, if they're considered soulmates because soulmates became baked into the show (and that doesn't include The Field Where I Died); but I can see the argument for the non-soulmate convo. I think it falls on whatever side you base your MSR on. :)))
And thanks for dropping in! :DDDDDD

Thoughts on "Escape from Camazotz"
Oppressive Suburbia, Conformity, and Season 5 Themes
Tumblr media
I've long thought that a major focus of Season 5 will be the contrast between the families of The Wheelers and The Byers, and exploring how non-traditional family environments can be freeing vs the oppressive structure of the nuclear family.
In a Wrinkle In Time, Camazotz is a planet controlled by the big bad of the book, the "IT", who forces the citizens into a conformity that resembles American suburbia. All of the houses the same, the citizens the same, doing the same things at the same time without individual identity. Without anything different. Different means a lot of things, but with Stranger Things dropping different in reference to Will's identity and the presumable themes of this season, it will heavily codify as queerness and how it threatens the cisheterosexual family model.
Tumblr media
Henry was raised in the 1950s, a decade still revered by conservatives for it's traditional family dynamics that supposedly were the peak of culture and happiness for all. That was all a lie, of course, and Henry knew so as he shows to Nancy and Eleven during his monologue. The second most conservative decade aside from the 1950s in American society is widely considered to be the 1980s.
The Creels will serve in parallel to The Wheelers; the worst example of what they could become and the damage that this type of family could do to a child that is different in any way. Notice how Vecna selectively shows Nancy visions of The Wheelers dying, but not anyone else she may consider family or friends (like Jonathan).
That is; unless they change their ways and come together as a healthy functioning family facing their traumas, The Wheelers will be toast.
Karen has been moved up to a main character role this season. Ted's actor says the father starts to show up more for Holly (hold that) and realizes he wants to act differently. Holly has been recast. Finn has said Mike goes on a much more personal journey this season, and steps up as a leader.
Oh, also: the catalyst for all of this is that Holly goes missing. The contrast will help show how the Byers (including El and Hopper here) were able to pull together and help solve Will's disappearance, versus how the Wheelers as a closed off nuclear family grapple with Holly's vanishing.
Tumblr media
Each of the Byers is in some kind of a non-1950s conformist relationship, but particularly Will (not in one now but we all know he will be). I think El might represent, after she breaks up with Mike, the fear of the unmarried woman being satisfied without a husband. The above shot really emphasizes my point.
I predict that Will will end up coming out to his family rather early on, and we will see all of them immediately accept him with little surprise or push-back. Will is a visible gay man who comes from an open minded non traditional family (divorced, non-married, adoptive) that is willing to have honest conversations.
But this theme will place the most focus on the Wheelers. Mike is the main character of said family and this will particularly focus on his arc, and his acceptance of his queerness in the midst of suburban conformity.
He is not visible, he comes from a Reagan-supporting family who don't communicate with each other. He is not particularly close with his family like Will is. He pushes his feelings down and tries his damn hardest to be normal despite it all. His trauma hasn't really been addressed at all. He is falling back into his usual habits - the one thing he dared to do different (grow his hair long) has gone back to how it was.
It's not all doom and gloom though. This season above all will be a redemption arc of the American nuclear family, how they choose to escape their conformity and learn to be there for each other, thus overpowering Vecna. Not that the Wheelers are going to end this personally.

Pinned Post
Hi there! I'm Neural Nets. I make kink content. I specialize in audio content about mind control. I also produce video, make games, and create experimental content for personal massagers.
If I have a kinky vision, I aim to make it real. I learn the tools I need for them.
I made the first content for "bimboization" over a decade ago. It was supposed to be private. It got leaked and cycled into thousands of spicy video dishes. I left the scene and returned to find it EVERYWHERE. That was fucking surreal.
My content is much better now. I learned the tools to make the horny impulses real.
Some of my content is free. You can find free things here, on Discord, on Reddit, on Soundgasm, and on Spotify. My media presence is a bit scattered because of bans and illness, but it's there.
The real archive is on Patreon. That costs money. It doesn't cost very MUCH money, and I think it's well worth it. That's your call, though.
I am definitely over 30. I don't disclose my exact age because hacking. "Over 30" should be enough. If you're hoping I run for US Senate, I appreciate your optimism and mourn its imminent passing.
FAQ:
Do you answer asks?
Yes! I turned off anonymous asks here. Trolls should commit to the bit. That said, I appreciate asks and I answer all of them if they're in good faith.
2. Do you answer DMs?
I leave my DMs on here. I wrestled with that decision.
They're on for: a. people I've known for a while or b. people contacting me about projects, like VAs and spicemakers
Any other questions go to asks.
3. How do I voice act in a Neural Nets production?
You contact me. You'll need to provide a voice sample.
If I cast you, I'll direct you to the casting spreadsheet. It has deadlines. If people miss deadlines, their parts get recast. I can direct, but I can't micromanage your time.
Sometimes, people are very underconfident in their voices, and it makes them feel bad. If that's you, I empathize. I'd be happy to answer questions and give advice! I shouldn't direct you, though. I don't want to unwittingly hurt people by directing.
4. Do you believe your content?
I believe in equality and radical honesty. I unequivocally believe in consent. I wish political and economic systems did too.
I have dark impulses. I like some schtick and some kayfabe. I like trickery and manipulation - in consensual kink.
All my content addresses things that turn me on, but my ethics trump my desire for a host of braintrained pleasers.
5. Do you do AI stuff?
Not really. I've tried machine learning tools. Porn is the cutting edge of new tech, after all.
I like automated tools to generate effects. Purely generated stuff, like image generation? Overall, meh. People make me horny. Mechanized people can make me horny. Machines, by themselves, don't make me horny.
6. Aren't you evil?
No. Some people are bad at reality testing. Some people chase clout. I naively engaged them initially. That was a mistake.
If anyone has beef, they failed to contact me privately. That's the damning mark of clout chasing.
I'm flawed and human, but I'm neither your hero nor your villain.
7. Aren't you dead?
No. In late 2022, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. It's partially genetic, so I sorta saw this coming. That was my worst lifelong fear, and it happened.
Fortunately, though, we caught it early and they have banger drugs for it now. Monoclonal antibodies destroyed the misbehaving parts of my immune system. I'm in NEDA, which is like remission.I recovered compromised motor skills through a year of totally brutal and partially self administered physiotherapy. I ate a lot of pavement, so it's a good thing I used to skate.
If you saw me now, you probably wouldn't clock anything. Lucky.
I am annoyed at people who mass reported my last blog shortly after I came out as sick. It takes a special kind of miserable to delight in that. Regardless, I'm back and that's not my problem.
I missed this platform, as completely broken and dysfunctional as it is.
I am glad to be back, and I'm here for any asks.

The voices in my Wish Rewrite
I haven’t talked much about it, but in my Wish rewrite some characters would be recasted. I wanted to make this post just to show which actors I’d replace… And it’s pretty much everyone except Magnifico, cause ya know, Chris Pine is Magnifico, and Magnifico is Chris Pine, it’s just how it is.
So let’s get this started!
Asha- Denée Benton
Tumblr media
Im absolutely OBSESSED with this woman’s voice, she sounds like an angel and carries so much personality in her performance, she sounds pure, youthful, hopeful but also strong, everything I imagine Asha as. THIS is what I imagine the 100th anniversary Disney princess sounding like. Not that I didn’t like Ariana DeBose’s singing tho, but I just love Denee Benton more, and hey, it’s my rewrite, so I get to imagine Asha’s voice how I please. Also I can totally see Asha and Aster singing this song.
Aster- Jordan Fisher
Tumblr media
Oooooh this man, I love him so much. His voice has the perfect energy for Aster, sounding youthful and melodic like a prince, it had to be a literally other worldly voice, and I think Jordan’s voice is PRETTY DANG other worldly, like, this example I found on Spotify doesn’t even do him justice, go listen to his other singing chops on YouTube.
If you look up Jordan Fisher you’ll see the guy is DEEPLY connected with Disney in his career, from singing the song “Happily Ever After” 6 years ago, which is the theme song for the Magic Kingdom, to now being the main singer of 4-town in the movie Turning Red. And of course this one time he made a cover of “You’re Welcome”, the guy just lives and breaths Disney so WHY NOT have him as a wishing star? It just makes sense. But besides working with Disney he also has experience in a musicals such as Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Sweeney Todd and more recently he became the new Orpheus in Hadestown… And by god I need a good quality audio of him singing “Wait For Me” more than I need air because that song fits Aster’s character SO WELL.
Magnifico- Chris Pine
Tumblr media
Yeah no surprises here, you can’t have Magnifico without Chris Pine… But HIS SINGING VOICE IN THIS SONG THOUGH??? ITS SO GOOD!!! I listened to “Any Moment” ONCE and now I constantly go back to listen to it over and over and imagine young Magnus and Amaya meeting in the woods. I still haven’t posted about Amaya’s backstory BECAUSE IM TOO LAZY TO FINISH THE DRAFT I HAVE EXPLAINING IT- But let me just say her hesitating to start a relationship with him is VERY accurate to her character. And Magnus being like “May I kiss you” out of nowhere because he: 1- Sees himself as irresistible so he thinks she’d fall for him with just that and 2- he had 0 social skills before he met Amaya.
And then there’s the line “Life is often so unpleasant, you must know that as a peasant” ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! This is LITERALLY something my Magnifico would say, I’m so freakin lucky!
My point is, my rewrite’s Magnifico sounds like THIS when he sings, with a deep, smooth and honeyed voice that makes you want to trust him… Take that high pitched voice Chris Pine did in “This Is The Thanks I Get” and throw it out the window. Disney wasted the man’s talent. I’m so mad.
Amaya- Emily Blunt
Tumblr media
Do you guys see my vision? Do I even have to say anything? Like really, go watch a scene of the Mary Poppins remake, any scene with her at all, that woman has a voice that DEMANDS respect, while also being motherly, it’s practically perfect in every way. I’m using “Open Up Your Eyes” here as an example though because… Well, it fits her backstory… Ya know, the backstory I’m stalling to talk about 👉👈… But it also just simply fits her personality in general!
And no disrespect for her voice in the movie, Angelique Cabral… BUT ITS EMILY BLUNT AS AN EVIL QUEEN!!! Come ooooon! It’s just meant to be!!!
Also side note, since we’re talking about Queen Amable, THIS design that came from an deleted scene is how I’ve imagined her the whole time:
Tumblr media
Like, I could not STAND her hairstyle in the movie, it simply didn’t fit my vision for her character, see, Amaya is sophisticated but she’s also… Practical and likes to feel comfortable, hence why in my rewrite her dress has no sleeves, she values her own comfort more than conforming to the social norms… AND THAT HAIR LOOKING LIKE HEADPHONES WITH THAT CROWN THAT MADE HER FOREHEAD LOOK LIKE A SQUARE DROVE ME NUTS!
So yeah, this is our Queen Amable, voiced by Emily Blunt, with a British accent, in all her glory, we’re moving on.
Valentino- Gregory Mann
Tumblr media
This is just a bonus mention, since Valentino doesn’t even sing in my rewrite, he just speaks in like 3 scenes… And you guys have only seen one of them so far. But either way, let it be known he sounds like Gregory Mann, because Gregory Mann sounds adorable. That is all.
Thank You For Reading!

So genuine question, do you think the Tories will kick Truss out and replace her with someone else as prime minister?
I do. Incredibly, yes, I do.
Her firing Kwarteng is actually kind of massive, because PMs and Chancellors have long been a tempestuous relationship that puts you in mind of nothing so much as a king and a grand vizier, but Truss and Kwarteng were BFFs and that was actually part of the appeal of choosing her as leader. Remember, the main thing that blocked Rishi Sunak's bid was that he'd been a snakey chancellor. Nadhim Zahawi as well. Kwarteng was fully of the view that his job was to simply deliver his PM's vision, nothing more (or, lol, that's what he told everyone.) They pinky promised they'd have no drama and would be a smooth, choreographed performance.
And now she's shoved him bodily out of the falling hot air balloon.
I didn't think it would happen! I didn't think she had it in her. My god. Bye, Kwasi. Nice to see the pound rising the moment you left. Do you think he sold his house when he moved into Number 11? It's only been 38 days, he probably hasn't even unpacked yet.
Anyway, Liz is famous for spineless u-turns and she's now walking back on multiple key election promises, including her business tax cuts, because it turns out the economic system Kwasi promised her was great was actually fucking terrible and melted the pound even faster than the Royal minters can recast it with Charles' face, so... Against the backdrop of a disintegrated Tory party whose knives are out and bloodied, fuck me, this is not a good look. So yes. I think they're going to kick her out.
...
As I was writing this, someone just walked into the staff room and yelled hysterically over to one of the Education lecturers "Mark, he's gone! Kwasi's gone! Your prediction came true! You were right!"
Turns out Mark predicted that today would be the day. He has now predicted Liz Truss has two weeks. This seems a fair oracle. Let's see if Mark is right. Liz Truss' removal as a Hallowe'en treat.

Assigning rock/metal/punk songs to the companions because why not
Halsin
Footsteps - Pop Evil
I've walked an empty mile/ Wore down this lonely soul/ I take these footsteps/ Go higher/ Go higher
(Really hard not to give him the love songs i have saved bc i love him so much)
Wyll
Leviathan - Volbeat
Horns that sprout out from your head/ A glowing light beneath the surface/ You said that you and I/Could make 'em all terrified/ And clean up the whole world
(Not only does this song reflect Wyll's journey to find and awaken Ansur, but it's WYLL, WYLL is the leviathan!!)
Karlach
I am the Fire - Halestorm
Roaring like the sun/ And I am the one/ I've been waiting for/ Screaming like a siren/ alive and burning brighter/ I am the Fire
(Very on the nose but i couldn't find a song that fit both her personality and her story like this)
Gale
Fear Inoculum - Tool
Exhale/ Expel/ Recast my tale/ Weave my allegorical elegy
(This song fits in overall vibes, lyrics, and even long-windedness [affectionate]. Literally sounds like someone casting a spell)
Shadowheart
Haunted - Evanescence
Long lost words whisper slowly to me/ Still can't find what keeps me here/ When all this time I've been so hollow inside
(Yes yes "Bring Me To Life" is a very Shart song but, aside from Evanescence being a Shadowheart BAND in general, i think the lyrics of Haunted fit her the most)
Astarion
I'm Not Jesus - Apocalyptica
When your world comes crashing down/ I want to be there/ If God is looking down on me/ I'm not Jesus/ Jesus wasn't there
(Me 🤝🏽 Astarion: surviving horrible abuse and being very bitter about it 🥲)
Lae’zel
Indestructible - Disturbed
Another mission/ The powers have called me away/ Another time/ To carry the colors again/ My motivation/ An oath I've sworn to defend/ To win the honor/ Of coming back home again
(This entire song is her entire personality and character motivation)
Minthara
Looking Down the Barrel of Today - Hatebreed
Once had a shotgun to my head/ They said i wasn't worth the bullets/ Now the world is my trigger/ And I'm here to fucking pull it
(I gotta be honest, i haven't recruited Minthara yet, so this is just off what little i know about her. She can have a badass fight song, as a treat)
Jaheira
When Legends Rise - Godsmack
Throat is dry/ My vision's fading/ I'm paralyzed/ And left here waiting/ Taking time/ Just one step forward/ Won't lose my mind/ I'm here to stay
(Jaheira is awesome and a legend. She keeps trying to give up the fight but always finds herself stepping up again because it's the right thing to do)
Minsc
Tribute - Tenacious D
So we played the first thing/ That came to our heads/ Just so happened to be/ The best song in the world/ It was the best song in the world
(¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It sounds like his exact type of story telling, and exactly like something that would happen to him lmaoooo)

there has been ANOTHER kyle-martin twitter space and i missed all of it :( do you happen to have any info on what was in there??
I was there the whole time! But because this wasn't a Q&A style space like the one from last week, I didn't take as many notes. A lot of it was just Kyle and Martin talking about their own personal interests and life anecdotes, which I found really interesting and enjoyed listening to, but felt uncomfortable writing down as like, Walten Files News, y'know? A lot of it was pretty candid and personal, not really something I want to be sharing as a Series Fun Fact.
The stuff I did jot down is pretty sparse, but here it is anyway:
-Martin mentions that he's actively working on a scene involving Rosemary while he's in the space. He talks about how he saved a lot of the Rosemary stuff for last, because he's excited to work on it.
-Martin says "No, I love the fans but I don't trust them with fucking Jack and Felix plushies". Kyle mentions an anecdote about how Martin didn't want to make human plushies because he didn't want people tormenting the Felix one.
-They spoke a lot in very vague terms about scenes in TWF4. Many distinct times of someone going "Hey, you know the thing about This scene? Hold on, I'll DM it to you" as a launching point for a different conversation, with few or no additional details about the scene in question. Late in the stream Martin mentions finding it funny to imagine the twitter space audience trying to 'peek into the room' to see what they're talking about, like a kid trying to peek at their Christmas presents.
-Martin talks about a scene in TWF4 which is inspired by a real nightmare he had that woke him up in a cold sweat.
-They mention how Showbear was retconned, and Martin talks about how the role Showbear was going to fill in the series has been broken up and split between two separate characters who supersede him, one of which is another white bear named "Mr. Snow".
-Martin talks for a bit about storytelling techniques he's learned from his favorite media/artwork. He brings up Better Call Saul a lot here, speaking mostly about the things it's taught him in the way of subtlety in storytelling and characterization, and how it's often much more effective to convey something in few words than to over-explain it in the hopes of absolute clarity.
-Martin mentions that when he inevitably has to recast Felix, he is not going to open auditions for him, he's going to hand-pick the VA himself, and it's most likely going to be someone he's already worked with or someone he knows through someone he's already worked with. He says that his concern is less to find someone who can emulate Coker's Felix voice, and more to find someone he thinks is most appropriate for the character.
-On the topic of Felix, Kyle brings up a vision he has in his mind of a post-crash Felix leaving Brighton for years, and coming back having gained a lot of weight and otherwise in a significantly poor state. Martin says that it's actually true that Felix gains some weight later in his life. (The implication here I imagine being that 1982 Felix is heavier than 1974 Felix was.)
-There's a pretty long conversation here about a fear Martin has of a specific scene in TWF4 starting a Fandom Ship that he really doesn't want to exist, and on the topic Kyle brings up the first random Terrible Walten Files Ship Idea he can think of, and lands on Jack and Susan. Martin has a very visceral reaction of disgust.
-Martin then starts talking about how he hasn't really fleshed out an idea for what Susan and Jack's relationship is like, but he thinks it'd be fun if they teamed up to scare people, since they're both pretty tall and intimidating.
-Martin ends the stream saying that he didn't finish the Rosemary scene he was working on, but that he's tired and wants to go to bed. He also goes "FUCK Rosemary Walten, man, why does she have so many fucking scenes."

Unpopular Phase 4 & 5 Opinions
Quantumania is the worst Phase 4/5 movie. And it wasn’t even because “kang got beat by ants.” (I liked kang in this movie). It’s just that the Spy Kids aesthetic & bad acting & overall weird vibes just weren’t for me.
Love and Thunder is no worse than Ragnarok. I would argue that it’s better in a lot of ways, actually. I really liked it.
Taika Waititi ruined thor with bad humour all the way back in Ragnarok tbh, but y’all weren’t complaining about it then 😒.
BuckySarah is better than sambucky every day of the week.
The Marvels was a good ass movie & they’re one of my favorite teams in the mcu. I’ll never forgive cbm sites & online dudebros for killing the hype from the moment the film was announced.
I adore America Chavez & Kamala Kahn and I want to see them in everything. They must be protected at all costs.
Multiverse of Madness had shitty characterisation & basically just copy-pasted the ‘grief made me go off the deep end & hurt people, then I realised and stopped myself’ storyline from Wandavision… but Wanda was extremely selfish & apathetic to other people’s suffering from the time she was introduced in the mcu. MoM didn’t make her like that.
Wanda should’ve been looking for Vision (her actual real life boyfriend whom she spent years with irl) in MoM instead of the kids that weren’t even real that she spent like a week using as characters in her sitcom.
Making everyone forget Peter Parker wasn’t profound or poetic in any way- it was just frustrating and needlessly cruel.
I’m begging marvel to understand that heroes don’t have to be in constant suffering to be heroic & villains don’t have to sacrifice themselves to achieve redemption. Let characters heal and atone, you absolute weirdos.
What If…? is the most boring show ever. I’d rather watch Secret Invasion or She-Hulk.
Season 2 of Loki is, in a cinematic & artistic sense, the best marvel project period.
Loki season 1 was meh- more of a fun au than anything because his characterisation kinda sucked. Season 2 fixed it, though, and made it way easier for me to incorporate this version of Loki back into the larger mcu.
Having Steve stay in the past with Peggy was stupid af.
I don’t hate Peggy (or Captain Carter), though. I actually think she’s pretty cool.
I don’t really love Steve. He’s arrogant & they never really let him have flaws & something about him being a perfect metaphor for the American military industrial complex (and marvel painting that as a good thing) doesn’t sit right with me.
The Illuminati got done dirty and the only reason they went down so fast was because Wanda had all that plot armor.
I thought the retcon of having Wanda be “destined” to become the Scarlet Witch since birth was an annoying cop-out. Her powers originating from being experimented on with an infinity stone was way more interesting.
Loki & Wanda have almost the exact same powers.
Nebula deserved a bigger rule in killing Thanos & everything else moving forward.
I love Kathryn Newton but her acting as Cassie Lang was the worst acting I’ve ever seen in the mcu, like it was outrageously bad.
I’m glad Sam is the new Captain America and not Bucky.
The fact that Bucky probably isn’t gonna be one of Thee lead characters in the upcoming avengers movies feels sick and twisted.
Secret Invasion was actually passable until the G’iah scene at the end. That ruined it. And Nick Fury deserved way better for his solo series.
Kang is so much more interesting than Doctor Doom. I really hope they just recast him.
Carol Danvers does NOT deserve the hate she gets.
I actually disliked Carol until The Marvels. That movie made me a stan.
The way people treat Monica as Wanda’s little inferior pet creation or smth & then brag about it is uhh very sus.
I don’t like sylvie (bc she’s an amalgamation of 3 different comic characters- which killed any hopes of them appearing individually in the mcu, the creators used her existence to butcher Loki’s genderfluid rep, & she was written poorly) & I HATE sylki (bc it’s weird & unnecessary).
Marvel isn’t dead. I actually love where they’re taking things. But that’s just me.

Hey, I really love your observations about the post war order the Gaang developed. I always thought that it would have made a lot more sense, and have made a much better story, had Azula acted as a key shaper of said order. Like, maybe after the war she was set free and became one of Zuko's key advisors, working to secure Fire Nation interests and ensure her nation avoid all responsibility for their part in the war, recasting herself as a champion of Republic City's independence.
okay well i know we love to joke about how dumb zuko is but in what world would zuko allow that. his whole thing (in canon at least, we ignore the c*mics) is that he, as a symbol of the harm both done by and to him, must become firelord to directly take responsibility for the fire nation’s crimes, and his role postwar is to atone for his family’s sins. there’s no way he would just allow azula to undo that work??? obviously she’s a lot more manipulative than he is, but he’s also predisposed to be antagonistic towards her so there’s no way he’d fall for that shit. and there’s especially no way that sokka, toph, suki, aang, or katara, mai, or ty lee would fall for that shit!!! azula is probably the last person who could’ve gotten away with securing the fire nation’s privileges after the war.
I also don’t think that she should, but im also a proponent of zuzu redemption 2: electric boogaloo, the long grueling road towards undoing her cognitive dissonance. like i honestly think that one theory going around while lok book 2 was airing, that she becomes a fire nation shaman and healer who tends to herds of sky bison on a remote island, is actually really sweet. sure, it would take a very long time for her to get there, but even just in spirit, i want her to rest and heal and spend her life helping people in peace and tranquility. the idea that she grows up to help the avatar is really cute to me. but actually, your question isn’t really about azula at all.
here’s the thing. if you do buy the state of the avatar-world is as lok implies, i think its easiest to assume that although they had good intentions, the gaang failed in their vision of postwar reconstruction rather than made it that way. a confluence of material forces shaped the world in such a way that was out of aang&co’s control. but also, taking a materialist-pessimist approach is kind of bleak to me, because i like to think that the avatar would have more influence in such a world, especially considering his role in ending the war. not that he can control everything (the fc yee novels do a great job of illustrating the lack of control any one figure has over the state of the world, even provided they’re the avatar). so ultimately i think that assessing lok as an extension of atla must necessarily require acknowledging the ways in which the canon conflicts both politically and thematically, and not attempting to explain every inconsistency through in-universe justifications, but rather to simply admit that the writing was flawed.

idc what anyone says i have faith in titan to be good. mostly because when it comes to red dwarf i trust rob grant with my life he GETS this show. like it’s about lister and rimmer on the world’s worst honeymoon are you kidding me ? plus rob grant left before lister getting frankie on titan was retconned to getting her on mimas. so he could totally stick with him getting her on titan. which means we could have a whole series with lister and rimmer on the world’s worst honeymoon with lister either trying to hide a whole cat from rimmer the whole time or rimmer begrudgingly agreeing to help take care of her. as long as they get the recasting right this will be golden idc i’d follow rob grant’s red dwarf vision to the ends of the earth

my thoughts on who the Wheeler in question is that consists of very repetitive points that just about everyone else has said already
Holly: She was recently recasted, but this could also be so she could be more involved in the disappearance of her family member. Frankly i'm hoping it's not her; it'd be soo fucked considering she would be even younger than Will was
Karen: Had a poster in season 4 although she had maybe the least importance s4 than any of the other seasons?? [s1 and s3 she was there for Nancy and Mike, and s1 she was somewhat involved with the lab's search for El. I can't remember s2, though] So she may have a big role in s5, whether it be in Joyce's position or Will's (I'm leaning towards Joyce)
Mike: not the right amount of letters, but i wouldnt put it past them to go for a lil silly trick. There is a lot going around about him being hurt in the upside down, and while it may be due to him disappearing, it could also be from him trying to save someone else mentioned. I hope it's him so we can see more into his mind, but i'm very doubly since he's meant to take a leader role in season 5 (unless the disappearance is an episode or two at most) [Edit: Vecna harming Mike would deeply affect both of the people he seems to be most after; Will and El]
Nancy: She was given a vision by Vecna, meaning she's already had a run in with him. While this could make it more likely for her to have another run in with Vecna, I think it means the opposite. She was let go very quickly and more or less harm free (if you dont count the mental damage of her seeing her family dead.) This makes it seem like Vecna had clear intentions of, in a way, just playing mind games with her, and will probably leave her somewhat alone since he already inflicted her with something that will stick with her (and possibly drag her down.)
Ted: absolutely not. he wasn't even mentioned when nancy was explaining her vision about her family being hurt. wrap it up.
The most likely characters are Mike and Holly, but I don't really think one is significantly more likely than the other
edit: This Post has changed my mind; it probably will be Holly (I still need a lil view into the Mind of Mike Wheeler
++I heard there are 5 asterisks in the title because the original leak said "blank wheeler" I don't know how true it is but its a cool lil fact if it is

For the past 2 days, the Mononoke team’s decision to recast the Medicine Seller has been living rent free in my head. And today I come to offer another perspective.
Because of the way animation in general does not allow for much appearance of the creators, much of the public credit and acknowledgement go to the only slither of humanity that can be seen or rather … heard. People equate their favorite characters with the providers of their voices. Kaji Yuki is literally Eren Jaeger. Dante Basco is literally Zuko. And Sakurai Takahiro is literally Shirokuma, Osomatsu, Makishima, Rohan, Kusuriuri, etc. Except this is a very reductive view because in truth, the voice actor does not, at all, play any part in the actual creation of a character or vision. They are the missing piece of a puzzle, but the other 99 pieces, the base, the frame, they’re the works of the writers, the designers, artists, animators, and directors. The voice actor simply HELPS bring that vision to life per directed, they are not creators.
In light of the recast decision, I have seen outcries saying that without Sakurai Takahiro, the Medicine Seller is no longer the Medicine Seller, which is a sentiment I can understand. I, too, have deep attachments to the characters voiced by him, and thus, indirectly, to his voice. But while his voice is perfect for such calm, mysterious, almost mystical character, consider this. Would you want a main character of a story that intentionally explores the lived reality of women in history (both pain and gain) through a humanizing lens, whose affiliation is neutral but with subtle acknowledgement and empathy for the victims of each crime (who are mostly women), to be voiced by a man who has, for a very long time, deceived and taken advantage of the women in his life? The compatibility between Sakurai Takahiro and the Medicine Seller is purely superficial, they stand for complete opposite things. And the team, while fully know the risks they are taking, sided with their creation.
With that decision, their creative interest is fully protected. By recasting the Medicine Seller, they are asserting their rightful claim to the credits of creating both the character, AND the series. THEY are the mysterious lines spoken in several intakes of breath, THEY are the glamorous kimono, THEY are the cheeky and mischievous actions that also imply a sense of misanthropy. The Medicine Seller is NOT, and never has been, Sakurai Takahiro. Secondly, with such cruel actions as his reputation, it is difficult for any production to continue working with Sakurai Takahiro, especially in a lead role where he would no doubt be involved in many promotional materials and inevitably be linked with its name. Hence, it is likely that, without any drastic action, upon finishing this movie, the Mononoke team, too, might close its door and try to move on. But by detaching him from the name, they are now able to look forward into the future and continue to conceptualize the universe that we all love and crave, without the weight of such an impactful and disrespectful scandal, that directly contradicts their stance, on their mind.
In all, with the single brave decision to recast one of the most recognizable traits of their central character, the Mononoke team has protected their character, their work, their creation. It is truly commendable.

Hold Me; Heal Me
Tumblr media
set in the Silk Touches and Mended Hearts universe
genres: soulmate au, vigilante au, angst, ambiguous ending pairing: reader x woozi words: 1.7k warnings: blood, description of injury on reader character (bullet wound), mentions of drug use and overdose (not by main characters) notes: this is a recast of a fic and universe I made almost two years ago now... I really like this universe and have some ideas for other characters/stories, so I would love to see if people are interested :] (also I had to make this jihoon I mean shit this is red too?? it just fit so perfectly)
part two: Find Me; Fear Me
In a world where a soulmate’s touch can heal any wound, you would think you’d have no worries. But after your soulmate told you he didn’t want to be exactly that, you set your heart aside. It shouldn’t matter anyways, you reasoned. What need does a vigilante have of soulmates?
Tumblr media
You don’t know why you’re on Jihoon’s second-floor balcony. You don’t even know why you bothered remembering which one is his, considering you’ve never been in his apartment before.
It feels like an invasion of privacy, but fuck, you just can’t focus on that right now, not with the burning pain rippling from your shoulder. Impossibly, the bullet still feels like it’s blazing hot where it was sunken into your flesh -- even though you dug it out on the way -- and you flex your jaw in an attempt not to scream. Now is not the time to draw any unwanted attention.
Your left arm is starting to lose feeling, and your head swims from the blood loss. Just as you’re climbing over the balcony rail from the condemned fire escape, your elbow buckles. You fall to the floor with a yelp, pain shooting through your shoulder even though you did your best not to land on it. The black mask on the lower half of your face starts to slip.
You try your hardest not to cry.
The lights inside flick on, and you finally realize how bad of an idea this is.
You haven’t seen Jihoon since over six months ago, when he told you he didn’t want to be anyone’s soulmate.
He’d used the word “anyone”, but it could only apply to you.
Another bout of pain runs through you as you lay there on his balcony. You grit your teeth, and even though your ears are ringing like mad, you can hear footsteps from inside.
He rushes up to the sliding door, visible through the glass even though your vision is starting to cloud with dark grey blotches. His eyes widen, and he opens the door with haste.
“What--”
“Jihoon.”
He’s crouched over you now, but when you say his name, he stops staring at your bleeding shoulder and infamous red leather jacket and instead meets your eyes.
“How do you know my name?”
“I think it’s only fair.” You reach your right arm up, grabbing your mask and slipping it off your face. “Since you know my name.”
Jihoon gasps, though the sound is quiet compared to everything else. “You’re Red?” he whispers.
Your vigilante alias sounds all too real on his tongue.
“No.” Gritting your teeth, you take a second to squeeze your eyes shut and pry them open again with a gasping breath. You can’t collapse now; you’ve already gotten this far. “I just work at Target.”
He doesn’t so much as let out a puff of air through his nose at your attempted humour, instead bringing his hands up and hovering them over you like he has no idea what to do with them. You don’t blame him.
“Jihoon... I need you to help me.”
He frowns, brows furrowing as he stares intently at your shoulder. You know it looks bad.
“How?”
“Just--” You rip off the glove on your left hand and weakly hold it a few centimetres off the floor. “--hold my hand. Please.”
He wastes no time in waiting, and as soon as you feel his skin touch yours, the flow of the soulmate connection washes over you. The pain doesn’t go away, not exactly, but suddenly you can breathe normally, and your shoulder feels lighter, somehow.
They say a soulmate’s healing touch can’t be described -- that you can’t know what it feels like until you’ve felt it yourself. As much as people have tried in books and movies and poetry, you think what they say is right.
It’s indescribable.
You don’t know when you closed your eyes, but when you open them again, you see Jihoon still next to you, your hand in both of his, pressed against his forehead. Though his hands are blocking his face, the light sniffling you can hear gives him away.
“What are you crying for?”
Quickly, he wipes at his eyes with one hand while still holding on to you with the other. “I’m not crying.”
“Okay.” You give him a soft smile, still not strong enough to do much else to show your thanks. “Can you take me inside?”
Jihoon frowns again. “You’re not... Your shoulder, it hasn’t--”
“I know.”
“You’ve just barely stopped bleeding,” he continues. “You’re not fully healed yet.”
Groaning, you try to sit yourself up, and he looks at you like you’re crazy. You kind of are.
“I know, Jihoon, but I think it’s best to do the rest inside. I don’t want people seeing me here and accusing you of helping Red.”
“But I am helping you.”
With a sigh, you squeeze his hand. “They don’t need to know that. Now help me up, please.”
Jihoon wants to settle you down on his couch, but you don’t let him since you know how awful it is getting blood out of fabric. You make him take you to the small kitchen area instead, leaning against the counter while he struggles to get you a glass of water with one hand. He doesn’t notice you struggling to hop up on the counter, and by the time he makes a stuttered protest, you’re already sitting on top, your head resting lightly on one of the kitchen cabinets.
The soulmate connection is making you a bit lightheaded -- or maybe that’s still the blood loss.
“Don’t do stuff like that while you’re still injured,” he says as he hands you the glass of water.
“Thanks.” You don’t address his nagging, preferring to chug down the water instead.
Jihoon watches you, concern written all over his face. His hand tightens ever so slightly around yours, and you try not to focus on the way his thumb rubs over the back of your hand.
“You look like you have questions.”
Before you’d flopped onto his balcony, you’d prepared yourself for an interrogation, but with the way he’s looking at you, this isn’t going to be one.
He speaks softly, like talking too loud will break you. “What... happened?”
“Drug bust.” You take another sip of water, and Jihoon seems to bristle at your casual air. “Normally I leave dealers alone, but...”
“But?”
You put the glass down, suddenly not wanting to meet Jihoon’s eyes.
There are only two people in your life who know about your alternate identity. Three now, you suppose. Your best friend has known since the beginning, though, and his doctor friend he roped into this mess -- who's conveniently out of town for the week -- politely asked you to keep any and all details regarding your vigilante work from him. Plausible deniability and all that.
So it's not often you talk about the world's injustices with someone who doesn't really... know you.
Your soulmate has no idea who you are.
“This guy,” you say. Errant thoughts are useless, so you simply continue. “He deals to kids -- targets them, specifically. And he laces his shit so they keep coming back for more until--”
Jihoon steps closer when your breath hitches.
“...A kid OD’ed yesterday. She’s in the hospital now, and she’s going to be okay, but...” You bring a hand up to your face, digging your finger into the corner of your eye. Oh, so now you’re going to cry, huh? “I couldn’t let this guy keep hurting kids like that. I had to take it into my own hands.”
“You got shot.”
A snort escapes you, and you gasp a bit in pain when your shoulder protests the sudden movement. Jihoon’s healing touch works quickly, but apparently not quick enough.
“I know I got shot,” you say with a smile. “It’s a part of the process.”
Jihoon doesn’t seem to like that. “You should have been more careful.”
“I was careful. Believe me, it could’ve gone a lot worse.” You try to laugh it off, but he isn’t amused. “Besides, the fact that I got shot and had to high-tail it out of there means that asshole is still on the streets. I need to find him again.”
Pressing his lips into a thin line, Jihoon just looks at you. It’s almost uncomfortable under his gaze, but you don’t break the eye contact, too scared of what will happen if you look away.
This is the longest you’ve ever spoken to him.
You only wish it was under better circumstances.
“Well.” You slide off the countertop, pulling your hand out of his grip. He’s too surprised by the sudden change in pace that he barely even reacts. “Thanks for your help, Jihoon. Seriously.”
“I-- you’re not--” he stumbles over his words again, but his intention is clear.
Already partway to the balcony door, you turn around to face him again.
“I’m fine,” you insist, rotating your shoulder to show him. Still, the movement makes you wince, and you can tell Jihoon sees through your bullshit.
“You’re not fine.”
“Even so.” You take hold of the mask still hanging around your neck and bring it back over your face. Hooking the straps behind your ears, you try to give him a look that says goodbye. “I have to get going.”
“Are you going after him again?” Jihoon asks, voice harder than before. “That drug dealer?”
You sigh, one hand on the balcony door. “Someone has to.”
“Don’t. You’ll get hurt again.”
Looking at him again, you narrow your eyes. His hands are wringing together, but the glint in his eye is sharp.
“And what, Jihoon? Let him keep peddling drugs to teenagers? Wait until another one overdoses? I don’t have a choice--”
“What if it’s worse next time? What if I can’t help you?” He steps closer.
You snap. “I don’t want your help.”
“Why not?”
He’s up close now, barely a foot between the two of you as you try not to lean your weight on the sliding door. You’re less healed than you thought, but you can’t let it show.
“No offense, Jihoon,” you say with a scoff, “but I don’t really feel like spending time with a soulmate who doesn’t want me.”
He blinks, mouth opening slightly, but no words come out. You take that moment to slide open the door behind you and slip out, hopping over the railing and bracing yourself over the edge.
You look back up at him where he hasn’t moved from the doorway. He’s still staring at you.
“Don’t tell anyone about this,” you say.
And with that, you disappear into the night.
