Robstar week - Synchronisation
For @robxstar
Robin and Starfire do spend time together practicing for combat and they do put a few tricks they have learnt from each other to proper use. Striking together as one, the lovers deliver a synchronised punch to some well-armoured enemy who they send flying nearly to the stratosphere.

RobStar Week 2023 Day 3 - Crossover AU
Well this may be considered cheating, but given the circumstances, I'd rather offer something than nothing. I had every intention of participating this year but I'm working on a project that I need to get done to be up for a promotion at work.
That said, Day 3 of RobStar Week 2023 is a crossover AU, and so I offer you my multi-chapter fic still in-progress, Robin Rising.
This project aims to crossover a wide variety of DC animated content, which includes this one which focuses on the Teen Titans and Batman: The Animated Series.
And believe you me folks, there is PLENTY of @robxstar goodness to be had in here. I hope you enjoy!

RobStar Week 2022 - Day 1: Flying
Beginning Note:
I’m back!
This story is a sequel to one of my older stories “Nowhere Fast” (On my FF account). TL;DR – Robin gets Starfire’s powers, similar fashion to the the story “Power Failure” from the comics.
TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
For someone who had spent so many of their years in the circus leaping, swinging and even sometimes diving from unthinkable heights it seemed ridiculous that Robin would somehow be so hesitant about flying. When it had been with Starfire it had been entirely different, he liked when she carried him through the air, he loved the sensation and the thrill of it; but there lied the problem, in those cases she was in control and he trusted her. This scenario was a different one, here he had to trust in himself and for the first time in many years he didn’t think he could.
“You are doing well” a warm, reassuring voice spoke from in front of him.
He frowned, he wasn’t doing well at all. He felt like he was a toddler again, learning to walk for the first time. “I don’t think I am, Star” he replied in a neutral tone, he stretched his leg out and took a step. His foot immediately dropped a few inches further than he expected causing him to panic and wobble frantically.
She giggled loudly, placing her hand over her mouth to try and suppress the sound; she was trying her best but she could not help it. When she received a slight scowl from Robin she smiled sweetly back in return. “You are trying to do the walking but that is not how this works”
“Then how does it?” he asked with a frustrated sigh, “maybe this is just something I can’t learn to do”
She floated around to his back and hugged him behind, placing her chin on his shoulder. “Try to absorb your surroundings first and focus, you are very good at that Robin”
Her embrace soothed his frustration and he took a deep calming breath, he began to rotate both his body and his head to take in the area around him. He was hovering 7000 feet in the air, cotton candy-like clouds moved gracefully beneath him and when looking straight down he could sometimes spot Titans Tower and the bay surrounding it through thin parts of the clouds. The early evening sky engulfed him in all directions, most people would kill for an experience like this but to Robin it just felt surreal and he doubted he could truly appreciate it. “What should I focus on?” he asked, tilting his head to look at his shoulder.
She took the opportunity to kiss him quickly on the lips, giggling madly as their altitude suddenly spiked about 100 feet. She pulled her lips away and placed her chin back on his shoulder speaking gently “Pick a cloud somewhere nearby and lets go to it”, she wrapped her legs around his waist like a knot “just so you don’t think I’m moving us”
He felt slightly lightheaded from both the kiss and the sudden incline but he grinned, scanning the horizon he spotted a small cloud just slightly up ahead. “Okay, forwards” he spoke out loud to himself focusing hard on the action. He didn’t move, he focused once more and still no movement. He clenched his jaw as he tried to focus on whatever muscle or part of his brain was controlling his flight but he couldn’t. He let out an exasperated growl as he watched the cloud float further away on the breeze.
“You were able to fly up here yourself remember, it is just the same-” she replied comfortingly
“All I can do is go up!” he shouted in frustration, “not down, not forwards, not back, not left or even right. Just up!”
“Up is enough for me, Richard” she said lovingly, placing her cheek against his and gently stroking his hair “you do not need to master this on the day of ones”.
His heart swelled, closing his eyes made everything else melt away and he could focus solely on the affection. Suddenly he felt the breeze pick up and brush more vigorously at his face, cracking his eyes open he saw that the cloud he was focusing on was now moving towards him. Had the wind swapped direction that quickly?
“You are flying!” Starfire cried happily, placing rapid-fire kisses on his cheek.
He was in shock, he looked around and sure enough it wasn’t the wind changing course, it was him floating towards the cloud. Speechless, he just held onto the feeling and within a few moments he had caught up with the escaping cloud. He continued until they rested just above the cloud, so close it looked like he was standing on it. “I can’t believe it” he said simply.
“You have done most wonderfully! Even Tamaraneans born with the gift of flight usually take longer to accomplish what you have” Starfire said ecstatically.
Robin felt like the world had disappeared around him, even his girlfriend’s exuberant ramblings became muffled and distant. Memories flashed in his mind; Haly’s circus, his parents John and Mary Grayson standing before him, so much love and pride in their eyes for their son. The world around Robin re-focused and he pulled his mask from his face, tears beginning to roll down his cheeks.
Starfire felt the dampness against her own cheek and turned to give him a worried look, upon seeing him cry she floated around to his front “What is wrong my love?” she asked softly.
Lifting his head, he looked her in the eyes and through his tears he was smiling “I’m back” he said wiping at his eyes, “after so many years…I can be a Flying Grayson again”.
Starfire’s eyes shined, she knew his past and how important and yet tragic the memory of his family was, it was something he found so painful to discuss and something only she was allowed to know. It was something she had took much pride in and now seeing the joy in his eyes even through the tears, it filled her with such an immense feeling of pride and affection for him. Within Robin’s heart there had always been doors that had stay locked, feelings kept away to never be opened again but here in this moment Starfire had witnessed the opening of one of these doors, a lock finally broken.  “You are” she stated happily, and she threw her arms tightly around him, no longer needing to worry about crushing the poor boy she cold hold him as tightly as possible and in return he clutched her back just as tight.
Without realising Starfire had begun taking them higher into the sky until they were nearly touching the stars. Robin pulled back slightly and said with a grin “So you have that problem too?”
Starfire blushed brightly when she realised they were nearly in space “When I’m with you, yes”
The End
TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Author’s Notes:
Is this the right timeline? I actually wrote another story after a 5 year hiatus?
This story is actually a preview chapter from another story I am writing which is a sequel to one of my older stories “Nowhere Fast”, can’t give any kind of release date for that sadly.
Also, sorry this is 5 days late. Oops. If I get some inspiration for any of the other prompts then I’ll write some more. If not, happy RobStar Week 2022!

BBRae Week Day 1: Meet the family
“She’s perfect,” said Raven, looking down at baby Mar'i asleep in the bed between her and Koro. “I know it’s a cliché but… it’s true.”
“I don’t get tired of looking at her,” responded Kori, also staring at Mar'i with a sleepy smile. “Thanks for making her sleep.”
Raven shook her head with her eyes still stuck to the baby. “I’m glad to take one thing off your shoulders.”
It was hard to believe that when Raven and Victor had arrived, Mar'i was crying her head off as the new parents took turns walking her through the apartment in a frenzy.
Raven and Vic had looked at the chaos, then at each other, and taken charge of it. Now Mar'i lay asleep and Vic was in the kitchen making a much needed late breakfast for Dick and Kori. The only thing still chaotic was Dick, who was still zooming by completing random household tasks in a disorganized fashion.
“Honey,” Kori called out when he happened to steer close enough to them. “Come sit down. You have to slow down when she lets us, remember?”
“Right.” Dick slowed down with effort and joined them, laying at the foot of the bed. Kori laced her fingers through his, and it was like a switch that let him breathe full breaths again.
“To think I’ve always wanted to be a mother,” she mused. “It’s odd to think it finally happened.”
“You’ve always known that?” Raven asked, and Kori nodded. “I never saw myself having children. Still don’t.” She said it because she’d realized it at that moment, and then wondered if that was insulting, seeing as she was looking down on her friend’s baby as she said that.
But Kori was Kori. She didn’t take offense. "You've never had baby fever?" she wanted to know.
“No," chuckled Raven, and left it at that.
Part of her still doubted the so-called baby fever was even real. Seeing a baby awoke a primal urge to take care of it. Humans were designed that way. It was so parents wouldn’t abandon their babies for being so needy--so the human species wouldn’t die out. Maybe it was because she held such tight control on her emotions, things like that didn’t make it through her primary filters. Or maybe the fever was a myth.
Raven smiled down at Mar'i. “I’m just fine being an auntie.”
Dick cleared his throat. “Raven, is Gar coming now?”
“Yeah, just after the table read,” Raven confirmed.
“Um, when he comes, can you keep him from trying to pick Mar'i up?”
Raven did rip her eyes from Mar'i for that, turning to look at her friend in surprise. Dick at least had the decency look ashamed, though tiredness had made him callous, and Kori shook her head smiling, in a way Raven could tell they had talked about this beforehand and hadn’t agreed. “Excuse me? Why?”
“It’s not personal, alright? I’m just trying to keep my new baby from being dropped.”
“What?” Raven couldn’t help feel immediately defensive of her boyfriend of two years, and made no effort to hide it. “Why do you think he’s gonna drop her? I was just more likely to drop her.”
“Nope, you took care of kids before,” Victor’s voice joined the discussion from the kitchen. “They’re fine to this day. No evidence of a long-buried head trauma you conveniently forgot to tell us about.”
“I’m trying to protect my child here, Raven,” Dick pleaded, more frenzied seeing Raven’s frown didn’t ease.
“Gar seemed so eager to visit, too,” Vic’s voice commented. “He looked particularly excited today. Flippant. Butter-fingered.”
Raven called out, “Thanks, Vic. Don’t help.”
Kori calmly said, “If Mar'i was dropped she would simply fly.”
“That’s right, can’t Tamaraneans fly from birth?” asked Raven.
“She’s half Tamaranean,” Dick pointed out, at the same time Kori laughed, “He hasn’t allowed me to see if she can fly or not.”
“Of course not!” Dick cried at his wife, who smiled so warmly at him in return his face slackened, and he gave her a kiss as if to apologize for being a raw nerve.
He looked so pitiful, Raven couldn’t help but want to be diplomatic. “Well… with any luck Mar'i will stay asleep through Gar’s visit.”
However, there was no such luck. In the next hour, Mar'i began to fuss, then move her little feet, and open her eyes at turns, and she was well awake by the time G let himself through the door, bellowing, “Uncle Gar is here!”
“Sh!” Dick admonished, having materialized at the door next to him.
Gar’s ears dropped. “Is she asleep?” he asked, now in a whisper.
“No, but she just was,” Dick said, his tone plainly regretting that she wasn’t still asleep.
Gar lifted the admonishment on himself and scanned the apartment for his niece. His eyes brightened when he located Raven –it was a thing she always noticed happened when he saw her again after a while, and it was one of her favorite things in the whole cruel world-, and he made a beeline for the bed, laying a kiss on his girlfriend’s temple before he turned his attention to the baby, wherein his eyes widened and he gasped.
“Whoa, Kori… she’s so beautiful. And so tiny.”
And then the thing Dick feared so dearly happened in a split second. Dick was leaning against the opposite wall, half asleep on his feet, when Gar asked, “Can I pick her up?” and Kori nodded.
One green hand went under her head, another scooped the rest of her body, and Gar delicately lifted Mar'i on a safe journey to his chest, where she laid her head, perfectly comforted.
Dick had been halfway across the room. Gar turned just in time to see him stop cold, and cocked his head at the spatial disorientation of his friend being four feet closer than where he thought he was.
Dick had stopped cold because Gar had turned, and the sight of him holding Mar’i was so undeniably peaceful that his sleep-deprived mind could scarcely remember what he was scared about. He let out a mystified, “Oh.” And straightened.
Victor came out of the kitchen with the last batch of pancakes, most of which would be for Gar. “See, told you he wasn’t gonna drop her.”
“You thought I was gonna drop her?” Gar demanded.
Kori laughed at the scene and looked at Raven, but her smile fell when she saw her friend’s face.
Raven was staring at wide-eyed at nothing, face flushed red. Kori called, “Raven?”, and when the room’s attention inevitably turned on her, she went redder, covered her mouth, and coughed into it to cover it up. Koro patted her back, and Raven could feel her boyfriend’s concerned gaze on her.
Raven had never wanted children. It had never entered her mind before in any shape or form. But all it had taken was Gar holding Mar'i like that for her to be hit upside the head with a deep, irrational longing.
Maybe she wanted kids. Maybe she wanted one right now. The certainty split her brain in two: on the one hand, she knew her new feeling was as unreasonable as it was sudden; on the other, she was sure she needed to have a baby right this moment, with that exact guy. Goddamn it. The stupid fever was real.
“I’m fine,” she said as Dick brought her a glass of water. She was still avoiding Gar’s eyes.
If you concentrated hard enough, you might hear a clock ticking.

It's fucking 0:14 where I am I was so close to making it 😥 whatever it's still Day 1 because I haven't gone to bed
I'm risking my life finishing editing this on mobile. If there's any mistakes I'll edit them tomorrow 😅
I stretched this prompt thin, mainly because I was sure the prompt 'future' was gonna win in the poll and I didn't realize it hadn't until after I was attached to this 😶 but hey, at least it keeps with the family theme
This is legitimately all based off a tiktok
I’m not gonna say how many drafts I have for how many of the week prompts in case I don't finish but I'm posting it all on ao3 and fanfiction.net at the end of the week.
@bbraeweek22 hi! Thank you for organizing this 💜

Robstar week - Missing for @robxstar
I know, I’ve been putting Starfire in chains a lot. Robin shouldn’t worry too much, though, because she may yet be able to handle her little situation being in Mad Mod’s clutches.

RobStar Week 2023, Day 4 - Missing
(Set during "How Long Is Forever" because apparently I like hurting myself.)
---
The gears near the ceiling rumbled as he stepped into the dimly lit room. Nightwing didn't blink, his eyes already adjusting.
He made a clinical sweep, glancing in each of the corners of the room to check for hidden threats. Satisfied for the moment that nothing had gotten past his security system, he made his way to the computer control on the far wall.
His boots echoed emptily in the hollow space, dull echoes bouncing off the surfaces. Aside from his footsteps and the occasional hiss of steam, it was oppressively quiet.
With a flick of a hand on the console the system booted rapidly to life, cool blue artificial light falling across his face. The camera feeds arrayed themselves on the topmost bank of screens, showing silent snow-covered angles of Jump City. His OS waited for his input, blinking green cursor in the DOS window that had auto-opened on the screen.
Nightwing reached for the keyboard. He happened to glance at the other icons on the desktop.
His hand stilled, hovering over the space bar.
He stared, confused, at the small red circle imposed over the shortcut for the messaging app.
The little dot stared back at him for a long moment as his mind blanked out, bewildered.
He had a message?
He never got messages.
Cyborg was the only one who still had his contact info and in all the years he'd been set up here he had never...
He was frozen for a portent minute. Warily, he moved the cursor to hover over the icon.
He hesitated for one second longer before he clicked it.
The message opened. It was from Cyborg, like he'd thought, and consisted of a single line:
You were right. She's back.
Nightwing gaped at the words, uncomprehending for a tense eternity. His eyes widened abruptly, the dawning realization of what Cyborg meant hitting him like a bowling ball.
Yanking out his desk chair, he sat down and flipped through camera feeds, flashes of the city blipping one by one in rapid succession as he searched.
Downtown business district, nothing. Central Park, nothing. The abandoned factory section, nothing.
Finally, he found an angle that showed a flying streak floating over the city. Breath hitching, he adjusted the programming of his surveillance system, directing it to track the anomaly.
The system filed through a few different cameras before one caught a close enough glimpse.
The air left his lungs like his breath had been punched out of him. His back hit the chair solidly as he sat, gaping, a vice of emotion squeezing around his throat.
Vibrant red hair. Orange skin. Purple garments accented with metal bracers.
His heart was sputtering, like it had forgotten how to beat. He could hear his pulse loud in his ears.
It couldn't be...
Starfire.
His head spun, sitting there dumbly, just watching her as the cameras tracked her across the city. With a rush, he hurled forward, typing out a reply to Cyborg.
When? was all he managed to get out, before his impatience made him smack the button to send.
The wait between the response seemed interminable.
A new message blipped.
She's looking for Warp. She's trying to set things right. She needs help.
Frantic fragmented disjointed thoughts collided in his head, but his body was moving automatically, sliding to another panel, scanning for chronol distortions. Within minutes he was on Warp's trail.
Long buried emotion threatened his composure, rising up like heat in his face, stinging his eyes. He clamped down on the surge, shoving it back under the lid he kept all his feelings under.
Focus, he told himself.
Cold professionalism dropped over him again, as he leapt from the seat and stalked back out. Though his body was charged up with adrenaline he kept it controlled, his face as expressionless as ever.
The biting chill of the outside air clawed at his face, scraped his lungs as he moved silently across rooftops. Nothing slowed him down. He didn't stop to think. If he stopped moving, he would start to double-guess, question himself. He had to keep going fast enough that the grief couldn't reach him.
At the same time, he pushed back against the warm spark starting to pop inside his chest, the faint flickerings of hope. He was just going to check this out, that was all. Investigate Cyborg's claim. He couldn't afford not to. He'd promised he would never stop looking.
He made it to the last location his scanner had pinged Warp's tech at. It was an open boulevard, and there were two figures there, unusual since these roads were usually empty and abandoned these days.
One wore gold-plated armor. Encased helmet, black slacks. Nightwing would know him anywhere. Warp. The other...
A sharp splinter of hot iron felt like it stabbed up through his stomach, piercing his heart and lungs. His limbs pumped faster; he leapt from the roof to the street below, his only goal to reach her before the blast charging in Warp's weapon did.
Robotically, he flung himself at Warp, anger burning under his sternum that the man would dare raise his hand against her again. The villain weighed practically nothing to the surge of strength flowing through him; as soon as he found his feet he was throwing Warp down an alleyway.
Warp hit the wall so hard it cracked, but Nightwing wasn't done, hurling a handful of explosive disks.
They popped off in the empty silence like thunderclaps, smoke and fire filling the alleyway. Nightwing punched through the smoke with a yell but the villain was already gone, slipped away like mist.
One long slow inhale and he calmed himself, the hot fury inside him siphoning away. Control. He wasn't fifteen anymore.
But he stood and turned around and she was. She was small and wide-eyed and so young; it was boggling to be looking down at her. She seemed so much tinier and thinner, standing timidly at the entrance to the alley, green eyes like wide plates, astonished, fearful, and a bit uncertain.
She was breathtaking, stepping from the shadows of the past unchanged like some kind of immortal fae... and he couldn't touch her.
A somber shroud darkened over him. She couldn't stay. She was trying to go back, of course she was trying to go back. She didn't belong here, in this bleak, hopeless future. The damage was done. His timeline would never go back to the way it was.
She couldn't stay.
He steeled himself firmly, posture somber, shuttering away his heart, and all the things he wanted to tell her.
I love you. I missed you. Please don't go away again.
Instead he said:
"It's good to see you again."
***
There was some part of him that felt lightened, free of some heavy weight, even though he knew she would only be here temporarily.
"Watch your step," he told her, leading the way down the stairs. "The third stair from the bottom is a little warped."
It squeaked under her foot as she put weight on it and she gawped, yelping a little, startled.
He turned his face so she wouldn't see him smile.
"We can track Warp through the chronol distortion he causes around him," he told her, pressing a button on his gauntlet and bringing up his personal HUD, which showed a little holographic map of the scans his supercomputer up in the main room were running on the city. "Temporal anomalies cause vibrations in the air molecules that the scanners can pick up."
Switching off the display he went for the weapons rack, loading his utility belt back up with all the basics. He'd left with a severely depleted supply when he'd gotten Cyborg's message, and he wanted to be prepared for anything in the upcoming fight.
"We hit him hard, but carefully. Chances are the tech in his suit is the only thing that can send you home. We don't want to damage it," he was rambling absently, loading up freeze discs and wingdings. "Hopefully the others will come help, but I think we can still take him if they don't."
"Robin?"
For some reason, this time, her voice froze him in place like ice, a lasso looping tight around his throat and squeezing, rendering him incapable of speech for a moment.
Nightwing's mind strained for control, his adam's apple bobbing harshly as he swallowed.
"Have... have I done something... wrong?" she asked.
His head whipped around, against his better judgement. "What?" he blurted. "No! No of course not, Star," he rushed to assure her, the rest of him turning around to face her. "Why would you think that?" he asked in dismay, cracks showing in his unflappable expression, unable to hide the distress that pinched his eyes.
She ducked her head, softly, some kind of awful sadness in her eyes. "It is just..." she began, then fiddled with her hands a long moment, wringing them. "You... you have not touched me once since we were reunited," she said, her voice so quiet he could barely hear it. "You have barely even looked at me."
Screams scraped against the sides of his head and it was all Nightwing could do to keep his expressionless mask in place.
Starfire clutched her hands tighter around the edge of the blanket, the only display of affection he had allowed himself to give her, shrinking in on herself like a wilting wildflower.
"I... I know that it is... different now," she strained out, "and you cannot reassure me in the way you might have when we were younger..." She was almost biting her lip, eyes watery and welling. "But I... you feel so distant and strange and I—I cannot help but feel like you don't want—"
He broke.
In an instant his arms were wrapped around her, and he was fifteen and terrified again, his face buried in her hair, embracing her with all his might and shuddering, silent sobs rattling up through him.
"You were gone," he whispered. "You were gone, Starfire. You disappeared." His throat was clogged, snot and inelegant emotion choking him. "I never stopped looking. I couldn't. But you were gone for so so long that I just—"
A strangled hiccup escaped him.
"—It—It hurt too much, I—"
Her hands pressed on either side of his face, pulling his head firmly back in front of hers, so she could look him directly in the face.
"I am sorry," she whispered tremulously, voice wavering. "I am sorry you had to go through that. I am sorry I was not there. I am here now," she told him.
Nightwing sniffed back his breath, senses tingling, struggling to regain his calm. "It's okay," he said, even though it wasn't, even though everything in him wanted to shatter. He forced himself to take a step back, distance himself from her warm touch.
He inhaled and exhaled, getting himself back under control. She watched him with concern, familiar and touching, her gaze like a soothing balm on his soul.
She can't stay, he reminded himself. He had to send her back. To her time, her Robin.
He wouldn't let himself go through this again.
A firm, burning determination shone in his eyes as locked eyes with her.
"Let's get you home," he said fiercely, conviction ringing out through every part of him as she ignited fire in his bones.
They would set this right.

RobStar Week 2023: Synchronization
*If you haven't read my little fic for the prompt Missing I suggest checking that out first. I kinda planned these out with some continuity in mind. This also kinda follows a headcanon I have about Tamaranian powers. MASSIVE TRIGGER WARNING: TORTURE!!! And also sorry in advance for the angst/feels. @robxstar
Synchronization
Starfire pulled her body against her restraints. No matter how much she strained, she could not break free. Still, she could not stop hoping that the dense metal would weaken.
The moment she had regained consciousness, her many stomachs had twisted. It wasn't just the dim memories of the intruders invading the tower and rendering them all unconscious that drove her to pull until she was certain the skin on her wrists and ankles were raw.
The moment she had first taken in her surroundings, she knew she was in grave danger. Many people in this star system and beyond had spoken in hushed whispers about the cruel Psions. The experiments they were rumored to perform, was enough to make the most battle hardened Tamaranian shudder.
So when she awoke and saw an array of strange devices, including the one locked around her neck like a collar, and the reptilian being looking at her with cruel fascination, she knew she was on a Psion ship.
"It really won't do you any good to struggle," the Psion said with no emotion. "Those restraints are made specifically to withstand Tamaranian strength."
"You will release me at once!" Starfire growled, voice dripping with defiance. If the Psion was intimidated, his expression didn't falter.
"I'm afraid I can't allow that. My client is just ad invested in the results of this experiment as I am." Before Starfire ask what he was talking about, the door just beyond her vision on the angled table opened with a soft hum.
Judging from the quality of his armor, a high ranking Citadel warrior stood before her. He looked at Starfire with a glimmer in his eyes that made her blood run cold.
"Greeting your highness. I am the High Commander D'rall. Though I get the sense you are less pleased to see me than I am to see you" he smirked. Stalking over to the table, he looked down at Starfire with a fierce hunger.
"I don't take too kindly to my prizes not being delivered," he growled, still smirking
"Commander, the device is ready for testing" the Psion said.
"Excellent. Before you begin perhaps we should tell her what glorious purpose the Troq shall serve." At the order, the Psion's neutral expression erupted into a malicious grin.
"I presume you are familiar with the Tamaranian phenomena known as the H'threkva. Starfire's heart slammed against her ribs. In English, H'threkva was known as "The Terrible Rage". When a Tamaranian lost control of their angertheir powers could temporarily increase ... but terrible things could happen.
Before she could fully process what this meant, the Psion continued.
"With the collar, the goal is to synchronize it to your nervous system. As it's synchronizing, we can trigger the part of your brain that controls anger, amplifying the power of your starbolts. The wrist restraints are remotely connected to a device at the front of this ship. When you inevitably release all that rage as starbolts, they will be redirected to that device. My hypothesis, is that we can use these amplified powers as a weapon."
"And what better way to test it than on Tamaran itself." With the press of a button a screen illuminated on the wall, revealing her home planet.
Starfire begged. She was not proud of it, but she pleaded with the two of them to reconsider. But their faces remained twisted and cruel
"I told you, I don't take well to my prizes escaping." The Commander nodded to the Psion....and it began.
Synchronization initiating.
A hot pain radiated from the back of her neck. It shot up and down her spine and she forced herself not to wince.
Do not focus on the pain. Do not give in.
If she gave in, everything was lost. Shutting her eyes, she forced herself to picture her friends. To picture Robin. He would find her. He was going to come for her. He always did. Everything would be all right as long as he was on his way.

Every level of synchronization sent increasing waves of agony through Starfire's body. Fire blazed through her blood, her skull felt as if it would come undone, and her heart clenched with each beat it took. She didn't know when exactly she started screaming, but she couldn't stop.
She begged X'hal for relief, but her prayers went unanswered.
Then beyond the pain, there was a blackness creeping upon her Something told Starfire that within it's depths was the H'threvka.
It frightened her. Tamaranian's were so free with their emotions, and yet, this was a fury she wanted nothing more than to flee from. But the more she resisted against it, the more it pulled her in.
Maybe the pain bled into the anger they were trying to draw from her, or perhaps it was the other way around. But she had no control. This rage was not hers, and yet it was threatening to consume all that she was. Everything grew hotter and hotter by the minute, and the darkness drew her further down.
Do not give up. Think about Robin, think about Robin.
She anchored herself to memories of him. Their battles, flying with him, being near him, Tokyo. But even those precious memories were gradually falling into the black.
The door suddenly blasted open and through her swimming vision she caught a familiar blur.
Robin.
And then nothing but pain and darkness.

It had taken time, but they had made it. With Galfore's help, they managed to sneak around the scouting ships and board the ship hovering just beyond Tamaran's atmosphere. There were a few guards when they boarded, but they had been swiftly disarmed.
That was when they heard Starfire screaming. For a moment, all of them stood there, pale and frozen. Never had Robin heard her scream like that. He begged his legs to move, but they remained stubbornly numb and lifeless.
"Something's wrong," Raven said, clutching her temple with a wince. "Very wrong."
When the screaming continued and crescendoed into a never-ending wail, Robin ran wordlessly. Everything was blurry and tinged red.He was barely conscious if every step he took. But he didn't stop until he reached the door the screaming was coming from.
If you were to ask him the exact details of the fight later, he would not be able to recall. He knew his blows landed, but each punch and kick was robotic. Even when his foe fell, he kept fighting. It wasn't until Cyborg ripped his bo staff from his grip that Robin snapped to his senses.
"Robin! If we don't shut this thing down now, Starfire's heart is going to stop!" Cyborg yelled. Breathing heavily, Robin glanced down. The larger alien was battered, bruised yet conscious. The smaller one lay dazed somewhere in the distance, with BB standing warily over him.
Another scream jerked his attention towards the bound Starfire. Raven was beside her, trying desperately to use her powers to ease the pain or calm Starfire. But based on the sweat dripping from her brow, she wasn't succeeding.
Robin brought the face of the hulking alien close to his.
"Shut. It. Down" he hissed. The alien laughed.
"You can try. But it's fused to her nervous system. One wrong move...and you damage the Troq for good," he sputtered. Robin yelled and landed another strike, stunning his foe.
"Cyborg, you and me at the controls! Raven, keep it up!" he ordered. Cyborg cast him an uncertain glance, but Robin waved him off. He was in control of himself now. He had to be for her.
They sprinted to the computer, but the language on the screens might as well have been gibberish. Furiously, the two tried to hack the system, until a robotic voice chimed out:
Synchronization 100%
This time, there was no scream. Instead, there was a flash of green, and a loud metallic snap. Robin looked up and saw Raven back away from the now standing form of Starfire.
He should have been relieved. Under any other circumstances, he would have flung himself at her, held her against him until he was certain she was ok. But when her glowing green eyes snapped in his direction, he stopped.
Raven had been right. Something was very wrong.
