Hello! I'm a big fan of Queenmaker and Nevermore. Can I ask how to do the Netflix background like you did?
~💙
hi! this was a big thing in writeblr a while ago, so i have a couple of templates that i've used in the past; and you're right, i should have credited them on the post itself and i will go back and do that. they sat in my drafts for so long that i forgot what the hell they were there for and hit post - credits, roo. you were adding credits.
anyway, here:
storytellerdorian's 2020 netflix psd (this one is my favourite)
2021 netflix psd template by seungnm (i don't think i've used this one but another option)
netflix edit templates by radwrites
i don't have photoshop, so i use either photopea or gimp, and fonts from dafont. it is a bit of fucking around sometimes replacing text and everything, but the templates really make it a breeze. i also recommend searching the tags attached to the template posts; netflix edits or fake netflix or writeblr netflix, i don't know what the main tag everyone was using for these was but if you hunt around you can turn up a bunch of examples and maybe even some more templates.

I love that my guy group just... Dont care about genders and such.
My username have always had an Mr in it. I don't think any of them questioned it. Fabian has one account with 'Lady' in it. We regularly say 'girl/queen' to each other. And they call me dude and bro
It's such a small thing obviously but I really like how that's always been the way we have had it

melv was pestering me about something last night, probably about how i needed to go to bed instead of finishing a paper, and somehow he ended up offhandedly referring to himself as “my” husband when trying to convince me to sleep, and legitimately i just. started crying dhdkdhd
#bakura gave him the nastiest look when he heard me sniffle but#it was a good crying!! i’m pretty sure#i don’t know if it was just that i was tired or if it was the idea of getting to refer to him that way#but. instantaneously. for whatever reason. the waterworks went off lol#he looked so guilty as soon as he noticed and was so worried that his teasing like. got to me or whatever#i had to explain that him so casually referring to himself that way absolutely fries my brain with affection#i did end up passing out shortly after so i mean!! hey it worked#but melv was a bit more cautious overall this morning#and it made me really sad because him and marik haven’t really like. expressed anything towards the subject of marriage like roo and yb have#so seeing that something so small yet with so much weight slipped into a sentence like that just. flicked something for me i guess#when i got home earlier I sort of sat with him and we talked and like#i dunno. i just told him that he didn’t hurt me or anything and that i just get Big Emotion from the sheer thought of him getting to be.#y’know. *that* for me#shortly after i sort of fell asleep in his arms and i think he’s okay now#i think i get it#i know why he gets like that sometimes but this is such a silly thing to get so worried over lol#like no!! i’m not upset or angry with you for saying something so sweet even if unintentional??#i just. agh. i love him <3#if this shows you my current state of mind lol#marigoldshipping

Hurricane - Bradley Bradshaw x Reader
Tumblr media
summary: Bradley's regretted breaking off his relationship with you for months, but when he sees you walking into the country club after his round of golf, he knows he has to fix things.
a/n: I haven't written much angst before but I'm really trying to branch out a little bit. Inspired by Hurricane by Luke Combs, and also this weird recurring dream I keep having.
pairing: Bradley Bradshaw x reader
warnings/content: buckle up bc there's a lot? angst (happy ending), parental death, depression, hurt, cancer, goose's accident + carole's reaction, carole literally never getting over losing goose, bradley being a commitmentphobe, pregnancy (i think that's it?), also entirely unrealistic bc you know what? I can't keep roo sad for long.

Bradley narrowed his eyes beneath his sunglasses, the glare of the hot mid-morning sun harsh on his chocolate brown eyes. He grabbed his nine-iron from his golf bag, taking a practice swing before teeing up for his next shot. Bob, Jake, Reuben and Javy stood to the side behind him, watching as he lined up to take his shot. He hadn’t golfed in years, in fact, he’d only ever golfed a handful of times in his life, all of them back when he lived in Virginia. His uncle had taught him when he was 15, a welcome distraction when his mom became sick, and he’d gone out a few times when he was in college after a roommate of his on the school’s golf team had invited him out. He held his breath as he heard the club make contact with the small, white orb, watching as it soared through the air, disappearing somewhere onto the course. Jake let out an impressive whistle as he looked on, placing his hands on his hips as he shook his head in disbelief.
“You’ve never golfed before, Bradshaw? You sure?” He drawled, raising one of his manicured (though he’d deny it if asked) blonde eyebrows suspiciously.
“I told you, a handful of times. Not never.”
“You did say less than five,” Bob shrugged as he cleaned his glasses before replacing them on his nose. “Less than five suggests you haven’t really hit a course.”
“Not to mention you said in years. That was the swing of a man who’s at least hit a driving range a few times,” Reuben pointed out to the course in the general direction of where Bradley’s ball had landed as Javy, Bob and Jake nodded in agreement.
“I wish Nat had tagged along, she wouldn’t ride my ass this hard,” Bradley huffed, shaking his head.
“Nat doesn’t golf. You know that. She acted disgusted that I even asked,” Jake shrugged.
“Maybe it was how you asked,” Bob suggested as he disguised his jab at Jake as a helpful criticism.
“Just take your turn, Robert,” Jake hissed, rolling his eyes dramatically as Bob smirked.
Bradley normally would have joined in with a quip of his own directed at Jake, but his heart just wasn’t in it. His heart wasn’t even in the game. The only reason why he’d agreed to go golfing with the guys for their usual monthly game was because you left him. He needed to get over you and move on - it’d been six months and with no deployments coming up, he had nothing to focus 100% of his attention onto. Reuben had noticed it first - Bradley was withdrawn on nights out, his usually chatterbox self now quiet, calm and keeping to himself, barely breaking eye contact with his beer bottle. Then came Natasha’s barrage of questions - he knew she meant well, but God, it was hard to listen to.
He didn’t want to admit it to himself, but he knew why you left. And it was entirely his fault. You’d gotten upset because he’d stopped spending as much time with you, kept getting cold feet about committing to your relationship. He’d never tell you why he couldn’t commit - it was too hard for him to explain to anyone, really. In fact, he was fairly confident that Reuben was the only other person aware of it.
Bradley wanted to be the partner you needed - he really did. He wanted to be the doting, affectionate boyfriend who’d whisk you off somewhere beautiful, propose to you, start a family with 2.2 kids and a dog, cart the kids around to sports practices on weekends - the American dream. He knew you deserved that much. And yet, no matter how badly he wanted to give that to you - he couldn’t. He’d told you he didn’t want it - he didn’t want to get married, he didn’t want to have kids, he never wanted it. He watched you fall apart the minute the words left his mouth, and it killed him inside. He wanted to hold you close and tell you he was making a mistake, tell you it wasn’t true and he didn’t mean it, but he couldn’t.
He couldn’t, because he was terrified.
Growing up without his dad was one of the hardest things he could have experienced, he was sure of it. He was too young to truly remember how his mom reacted when she learned her husband had been killed in a training exercise, but he remembered her crying a lot, feeling paralyzed by loss and guilt, angry with the world for taking the man she loved away from her. He remembered as he grew up, she never remarried, never went on a date, never even as much as looked at another man. His dad was her everything, and losing him crushed her.
When she got sick, Bradley was a teenager - old enough to understand what it meant for her, what her odds of recovery were, and old enough to be realistic about the future. When they found out she wasn’t going to get better, he’d half expected her to react the way she did when his dad died, but instead, she seemed almost at peace with the idea. She’d spent 14 years of her life missing his dad, and she knew that, even though she was horrified by the thought of leaving Bradley on his own, she wouldn’t have to spend another minute missing her husband.
Bradley decided then that he’d never want to put someone through that. He’d never be able to hurt someone he loved like this - leave them widowed before they turned 30, alone with a toddler at home to raise on the opposite side of the country from their family and friends, with nothing but a military pension and an apology over his death.
It was at 16 years old that Bradley decided, if he wanted to become a pilot, he was going to have to spend life alone, and for the most part, he was ok with that.
That was, until he met you.
He tried to deny his feelings, pretending you were just a casual fling, some fun sex here and there between deployments and missions and nothing more. That was, until three months in, he accidentally told you he loved you. It wasn’t a lie, he did love you, but it caught him off guard when he said it - he didn’t mean to blow his cover and let his guard down like that. And when you said it back? He knew it was game over.
He tried his hardest to push his fears aside, he tried SO hard. He was getting older and beginning to realize he didn’t want to spend the rest of his life alone, especially as he neared the mandatory 20 years of service cutoff for aviators. He’d grown almost fond of the idea of settling down with you, seeing you with a ring on your finger, picturing you with a baby in you, his baby. He wanted it. He wanted all of it. But, the fears and anxiety he had reared its ugly head, and he couldn’t bring himself to get past it.
It was on their last mission, when he had to eject and landed in the middle of a snowy mountain, unsure if he’d make it back home to you. His mind raced with thoughts of how you’d react if he didn’t make it home - how you’d crumple to the floor when you saw the two uniformed officers on your doorstep, the blood-curdling scream you’d let out in pain when you heard them say it, tears staining your pretty little face as you were handed that folded American flag - he couldn’t bear it. He couldn’t stand the idea of putting you through everything his mom had gone through. Not when you were so young and had everything ahead of you. When you could find a man who wasn’t putting his life in danger nearly every damn day, risking himself and risking a chance he might not come home to you.
This golf trip was meant to take his mind off you. Reuben had mentioned it in passing to Jake and Bob, who exchanged worried looks with one another. Javy had overheard Nat’s line of questioning when he and Mickey returned to the table with a fresh round of beers, both of them offering Bradley silent looks of sympathy as they nodded in agreement to Nat’s advice. Bradley was struggling, in over his head with emotions and regret and sadness, but he knew he’d fucked it all up. And he knew that even if he tried, you wouldn’t want him back, and who could blame you?
Bob had suggested he reach out to you and apologize, and for a while, Bradley considered it. He strongly considered calling you, going to your house, begging for forgiveness and begging you to take him back, but after how you reacted when he broke things off with you, he wouldn’t even take him back. He’d been a dick in every sense of the word, and now, he had to try and move on, adjusting to life without you in it.
The next nine holes passed by with little conversation from Bradley and worried glances exchanged between his friends. He wasn’t in the mood for talking, he’d explain, shrugging the concern off before focusing back on the game. Bradley was thankful for his friends’ efforts, but it was beginning to feel like nothing would help him move on.
He slumped down into a chair at a table in the country club after their round of golf, sipping back the beer Jake bought him. He caught himself downing the liquid quicker than he should have, but at this point, being drunk would at least provide him with that much needed numbness he craved. He could hear Bob bickering with Jake over golf scores and who truly won, prompting an eye roll from Javy as he pulled the crumpled scoresheets from his pocket and placed them on the table. Reuben noticed the glazed over look in Bradley’s eye and clapped a sympathetic hand down on his shoulder.
Bradley was about to thank Reuben for being there for him when he saw your face. You were walking into the country club with a couple of your friends, laughing and smiling as you spoke.
God, he loved that smile.
He gulped back the rest of his drink before placing the glass back down on the table, the sound of Bradley slamming the glass down a little harder than he intended prompting Jake to spin his head around as he saw you.
“Oh..shit,” he murmured as Bob and Javy both turned to look discreetly towards you.
Bradley’s eyes widened as you walked past the bar, revealing a very unexpected new figure. He blinked his eyes a few times to ensure they weren’t playing tricks on him - positive that this had to be some kind of optical illusion or something. It was impossible. You couldn’t be.
“Pregnant.” Jake whispered as he leaned into the table, “She’s pregnant,”
“Did you know, Bradley?” Bob inquired as he pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose.
“N-no.” Bradley choked out, feeling the walls closing in around him as the room started to spin.
Without hesitation, Bradley rose from his seat and made his way over to you, despite the protests from Bob and Reuben, the two voices of reason to Javy and Jake’s voices of impulse. Bradley approached you cautiously, clearing his throat for a moment to garner your attention. You spun your head around, your cheeks rosy and your skin glowing with that pregnancy glow everyone always talked about. Bradley had never really believed in that kind of stuff, but you were proving him wrong.
“Bradley?” you asked, your face paleing to a shade of ghostly white.
“Can…can we talk, please? I need to talk to you,” Bradley rambled with desperation written on his face.
You huffed a sigh, nodding your head slowly as you excused yourself from your friends, who were now whispering and exchanging uncomfortable glances with one another. Bradley followed closely behind you as you stepped out into the fresh air, finding a discreet corner of the parking lot to discuss everything from the last six months.
“I…Is it mine?” Bradley whispered, almost afraid to hear the answer as his eyes wandered to the bump that was evident under your sundress.
You sighed again, following Bradley’s gaze down to your abdomen, a protective hand resting on your bump as you nodded slowly, humming in confirmation.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” He frowned, shaking his head quickly, “I-I, I would have helped you.”
“Bradley,” you said, narrowing your eyes and shaking your head quickly, “You told me you didn’t want this. You dumped me and told me you never wanted to settle down or have a family, you didn’t want to be with me anymore, and being in a long-term relationship wasn’t what you ever wanted. You told me you didn’t love me. So please, tell me why I should have told you?”
“Because,” he said softly, his heart aching as he heard your side of things, “I didn’t mean any of that. I was wrong.”
“Oh, you were wrong? Tell me, were you always wrong, or are you only wrong now that you’ve seen me six months later, heavily pregnant?”
Bradley was speechless. He gazed down at his feet, kicking at the pavement in his golf cleats. He sighed as he thought for a moment, taking a second of quiet reflection to compose his thoughts before speaking. He wanted to get this right. He couldn’t afford to fuck it up again.
“I was always wrong. I was wrong when I said it, and I knew I was wrong,” he shook his head vigorously before looking up to meet your gaze, “Did I ever tell you about my mom?”
“You told me she died when you were a teenager, and you didn’t really mention anything else about her. Or anyone in your family, for that matter.”
“Right,” he nodded his head slowly, taking a deep breath before beginning to explain. “My dad died when I was 2. He was an RIO, a Radar Intercept Officer. You know Maverick, right?”
“Mhmm,” you nodded slowly, a look of annoyance flashing across your face as you listened to Bradley, you were used to his excuses, and you were really hoping this wasn’t another one.
“So, Maverick was my dad’s pilot. Best friends. Did everything together. He was flying when my dad died, their plane lost control, had to eject, my dad hit the canopy. Died instantly.” Bradley paused, taking another deep breath as he felt himself getting choked up, “My mom, she, uh, she was really young. My dad was 25, my mom was 23. He was her high school sweetheart. She was devastated. I was too young to remember a lot, but I remember her hurting, and being sad all the time, unable to function some days because she just missed him so much,” he explained as tears began to roll down his cheeks.
“Bradley, I’m sorry,” you sighed, shaking your head as you sympathetically rubbed his bicep to comfort him.
“I just…when she died, she was…peaceful, I guess, because she knew she wouldn’t have to miss him anymore. She wouldn’t be lonely. She never remarried or dated after him, she couldn’t bring herself to. She’s buried with her wedding ring still on her finger. I couldn’t bring myself to take it off her,” he took another deep breath, exhaling sharply before looking up at you.
“I couldn’t do that to you,” he finally said, blinking back the tears that threatened to spill over again, “I couldn’t leave you like my mom. Heartbroken and alone your whole life. She never moved on, and I didn’t want that for you if we got married. God, I would have given anything to marry you. I would have taken you to the courthouse and married you on the spot if you would have agreed to it. But, I couldn’t risk breaking your heart. Not like that.”
“Bradley, you’ve always come home in one piece,” you said softly, fingers still stroking his upper arm soothingly.
“But I almost didn’t. I had to eject and all I could think about was you getting that knock at the door and going through what she went through, and I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t do that to you, or…or to a baby.”
You shook your head, processing everything that Bradley had just said as he poured his heart out to you. He’d never opened up like this to you before, but you could tell each and every word was genuine. As much as you hated him for leaving you, you couldn’t deny that you still loved him with all of your heart.
You missed him.
You missed waking up to him after the two of you had fallen asleep watching a movie together. You missed the way he yelled at the tv when watching baseball, how passionate he got over football games, how he’d pick the olives out of his nachos like a toddler and put them on your plate. You missed how he couldn’t eat apples unless they were baked in a pie, how he’d scarf down an entire red velvet cake if you didn’t gently stop him, then regret it hours later. You missed the way his big brown eyes would stare at you, a look of pure adoration on his face like a lovesick puppy whenever you spoke to someone else, as if he was hanging on every single word that fell from your lips.
You burst into tears, throwing your arms tightly around Bradley as you shook your head. “God, you’re an idiot, you know that?” you murmured, laughing softly as you hugged him.
“I know, I’m the biggest idiot. I still would marry you if you let me. I wanted to have kids with you, I want to be around for this one,” he nodded, gesturing his hands at your bump.
“Really?”
“Cross my heart,” Bradley said with an expression of complete seriousness on his face, “I wanna know everything about them. Everything. I wanna know what you’re having, what name you’ve picked out, what your cravings are, how you’ve been feeling, when they move, what does it feel like? I want to know how far along you are, and how they’re doing, if they have my nose or your nose, or if they’re gonna be tall like I am, I want to know what helps you sleep at night when you’re pregnant, and what their favourite song is. I want all of it, honey.”
“Ok, ok, slow down, breathe, Bradley,” you chuckled, shaking your head. “Take a walk with me?”
As you and Bradley walked around the pedestrian pathway on the golf course, smiling as you spoke fondly about the baby, answering all of Bradley’s questions.
“Well, baby’s a girl, I don’t have a name in mind for her yet, I’ve been craving oranges and Sprite, anything sweet and citrusy. I’ve been ok, better now the morning sickness finally dissipated. It feels like bubbles or something when she kicks, it’s like a fluttering, almost? I’m 28 weeks along, so I have about three months left. She looked like she has your nose on the ultrasound, there’s a 50/50 chance on her height, I sleep pretty much sitting upright because I get bad heartburn otherwise, and I play her music all the time. She likes Elvis and The Beach Boys, just like her dad.”
Bradley’s smile spread wide across his face, a small laugh of disbelief escaping his mouth as he nodded along with your words.
“That’s great. A girl? Really? You’re gonna have a daughter running around,” he said softly, almost as if he was daydreaming about what the little girl would look like.
“We are going to have a daughter.”
“You’re gonna let me be there? After everything?”
“Bradley, as much as I hated you for what you did and how you ended things - I never truly hated you. I loved you, more than anything. I still do.”
He held you tightly, burying his face into your hair as he kissed the top of your head, murmuring softly against your hair.
“God, I love you so much, honey. I promise, I’m never going to do something stupid like that again.”
“I know you won’t,” you laughed, shaking your head as he looked down at you, “I know you’d never leave Carly and I again.”
Bradley froze in place for a moment as he stared at you, his voice barely above a whisper as he spoke.
“What did you call her?”
“Carly. I thought, I don’t know, after you told me about your mom just now, I thought maybe you’d like to name the baby after her? Carole’s nice too, I just figured Carly gives her a name that’s her own too, they share the same root.”
“Carly,” he nodded slowly as he repeated it, “I love it.”
Bradley took your hand in his, his large fingers enveloping your hand as he held it tightly, as if he was terrified of letting go. He made that mistake once before, he wasn’t about to do it again.

I Love Being 'Us' With You (Rooster x Reader)
Part of The What If Collection of blurbs for Roo and Baby Girl. My masterlist.
Warnings: language, angst, pregnancy topics, mention of miscarriage, Carole and Goose coming to the rescue
Tumblr media
It had been months since you used birth control. Originally you planned to stop taking the pill when you embarked on your honeymoon, but the two of you agreed to stop filling your prescription before that. For more than a week when you were in Hawaii, you and Bradley had sex at least three times a day. He was like a man on a mission. Well, several missions. He wanted to keep you satisfied, but you could also tell he wanted to get you pregnant sooner rather than later. He wanted to have a kid before he turned forty.
The first time you ever mentioned wanting to have kids, he took you home and kept you in bed for hours. And that was before you and he were actively trying. Since last fall, he had been meticulous. He knew your cycles, and he was seemingly always ready to go when you were ovulating. But it had been months, and while he was outwardly as relaxed as always, you could tell that he was starting to get concerned. You were, too.
At first, it was easy to go with the flow. "It just takes time," Bradley told you, and you agreed. You continued to keep track of your cycle. You tried to be hopeful. You had a partner. You weren't doing this alone.
But you really were.
Because as much as you knew your husband was there for you, it was your body that wasn't working correctly. It was you, not him, who was messing everything up. Every time your period started, you had to cry alone before you could regroup and let him know that another month of trying had ended unsuccessfully. With every negative pregnancy test, you felt a little bit more of your optimism crumble into something much uglier.
You were at the point where you hated your body after so many months, and of course that's when Bradley's parents asked if it was okay to come stay for a long weekend for his birthday. When you got off the call with them, you started crying.
"I don't understand why you're being weird about this," Bradley sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "It's just for three nights. They've stayed with us before. Hell, I don't make a big deal out of it when your parents come out."
You shouldn't have to explain yourself to him. You didn't even know how to anyway. "I'm not being weird! I just don't want to have to talk to them about our plans to have a baby."
"Sweetheart. They don't even know we're trying."
Maybe that was true, but it was the only thing you could think about. So you excused yourself to go cry in bed with the door closed. You could feel the cramps starting. You knew you were just days away from getting your period. You knew the tears weren't going to stop. Another month was down the drain, and you were starting to resent when Bradley would initiate sex. You didn't even want him to look at you. And now when his parents came to stay at the craftsman for his birthday, you would be ovulating once again. It would be another month of disappointment where you felt like you were on display for your in-laws to witness it this time.
-------------------------------
You were distancing yourself from him, and Bradley didn't know what to do. It had gotten so much worse in the last few weeks since his parents asked to come stay for a few days. You stopped driving to work with Bradley. You started working late. You started to schedule sex with him to the point that he was surprised he wasn't receiving calendar invitations. He wanted to have a baby, sure, but he wanted you to be happy above all else. As soon as his parents left to go back to Virginia, you and he really needed to figure this out.
"Are you listening to me?"
Bradley's attention snapped back to his dad who was standing right in front of him, holding a nine iron with an annoyed look on his face. He let his mind wander so far away from the golf course, he didn't even realize it was his turn.
"Sorry," he grunted, digging in his golf bag. "Just got distracted."
"I was telling you that I'm finally taking your mom on a cruise. It leaves the day after her birthday," Goose told him.
"Right," Bradley replied. "Got it. She'll love that."
After Bradley hit his ball a little too aggressively, his dad carefully lowered the club and said, "Now why don't you tell me why you look constipated, and why your wife cried when mom told her that Brenda is going to have another grandson."
Bradley shoved the club back into his bag, and as much as he told himself he didn't want to talk about it, the words just started flowing. "We've been trying to get pregnant since last fall, and it's just a fucking mess now. Sometimes she doesn't want me to touch her. Other times it's like she thinks we need to have sex right then and there. Honestly, I don't know how to fix this, but having a kid isn't worth it if she's not happy with me."
"Have you told her that?"
Bradley stared at his dad, letting the words penetrate his brain. "Well, no."
"Have you put pressure on her?"
Now he felt like the one who was going to burst into tears. Truly, he never meant to, but he probably had. Talking about wanting a kid before he gets too much older. Mentioning how they would have to start saving for money for college. "Shit."
Goose pulled him in for a hug, and he let the soothing feel of his dad's hand on his back calm him down. "Bradley, women are smarter than us. They pick up on everything. If you want to fix it, then you need to be as honest with her as you can be. Because I don't think you want to destroy your marriage like this."
"I sure don't," Bradley said, his voice muffled against his dad's shoulder.
"We've still for fourteen holes and plenty of time. Let's hop in the golf cart, and I'll tell you all about some of the ways I fucked up with your mom and how I managed to fix it afterwards."
Bradley couldn't help but laugh. "At least she keeps you honest."
--------------------------
You were mortified. Your hormones were a mess as you were almost definitely ovulating. You wanted to have sex with Bradley this morning before he left to play golf, but you didn't even know how to tell him that you just wanted him and not the potential to get pregnant. And now you were out to brunch with his mom as tears filled your eyes, because the couple at the next table over was younger than you and Bradley, and they were taking turns holding the most adorable baby you'd ever seen.
When you tried to excuse yourself from the table, you felt Carole's hand on your wrist. "Sweet Girl," she whispered. "Let's talk about it."
You nodded and slid back into your seat as you choked back the tears. "We're trying to get pregnant, and it's just not happening. Was it that obvious?" you asked, knowing you'd been a mess all weekend.
"Of course not," Carole told you in her calm voice that you loved so much. "I just know this type of situation very well is all."
"You do?" you asked, dabbing at your eyes with your napkin. "But you had Bradley."
"Sure," she told you, still rubbing your wrist with her warm fingers. In a lot of ways, it was always easier to talk to her than your own mom, and you were thankful that you didn't have to act like nothing was bothering you right now. "Sure, I had Bradley, but ol' Goose and I wanted a baseball team worth of kids. A whole boatload of snot nosed little critters running around."
You laughed in spite of yourself. "What happened?"
"Well," Carole said with a smirk, "Bradley wasn't exactly planned, as I'm sure you well know. He was born in June after we got married in November. I wasn't showing yet in the wedding photos, but Goose and I both knew he was there." She smiled softly as she added, "I loved being a mom to him. He was the sweetest baby in the world, and I wanted a bunch more. But you can only handle the devastation of repeated miscarriages for so long before you throw in the towel, because you realize it's not worth your sanity. It's not worth it when you already have so much. Goose and I had some long, hard conversations, but we realized we were both already on the same page."
The tears were back, and this time you could feel them rolling down your cheeks. You hated that she didn't get to have what she wanted, but she was looking at you with kind eyes as you said, "I'm so sorry."
"Don't you dare apologize to me," she said with a soft laugh. "I got to raise Bradley, and then I got to pass him along to you." When you nodded and smiled in spite of yourself, she added, "And I just know that he's more than enough for you, and that you are more than he ever dreamed of. Just promise me you'll have those hard conversations with him. Maybe you'll find that you and Bradley are already in agreement about your future."
-------------------------
Bradley was thoroughly unamused when his Bronco wouldn't start on his birthday. "I think it's just the timing belt," his father said as they tinkered under the hood after dinner. "Order a new part and see if that does the trick. In the meantime, you'll just have to drive us to the airport in the other car."
"Sure," Bradley replied sarcastically as he grinned at you. "No problem, Dad. We'll just all cram into the red car like a pack of clowns."
"It's not that bad!" you said as he pulled you in for a hug. You already felt better after spending twenty minutes last night promising each other you'd spend even more time talking after you dropped his parents off for their red eye flight back east.
"It's so bad, Baby Girl," your husband whispered into your hair. "I don't know if their suitcase will even fit in the trunk."
"Stop being dramatic, Roo."
Of course the suitcase fit. And all four of you fit, too. You let Bradley drive so he wouldn't complain about the leg room. He parked in the garage at the airport, and you and he walked Carole and Goose inside the departures door, taking turns embracing them before they dropped off their bag and headed through the security gate.
"Listen," Bradley said, reaching for your hand and giving you a kiss. "I know we said we'd talk when we get back home, but I need to apologize to you." His brown eyes were sincere and a little sad as he led you back outside and said, "There's nothing I want more than you and me together. Safe and happy. That's it. If we don't have a kid, it's not the end of the world, and it's certainly not the end of us."
You smiled up at him. "I agree. I don't want to think about it like a chore any longer. If it happens, then that's amazing. If not, well we can always regroup and talk about other ways of becoming parents. Or we can just be us."
"That's music to my fucking ears," he crooned, pulling you in close against his body. "I love being us with you."
Before you could assure him that you felt the same way, his lips were on yours, hard and heavy, taking your breath away. The scrape of his mustache and the way his hand kept sliding lower on your back until he was palmig your butt reminded you how badly you wanted him, just because he was your Bradley. You moaned into his mouth.
When you broke the kiss and looked up at him, a cocky little grin bloomed across his lips. "I have an idea, Sweetheart. Call it an extra birthday gift."
"What is it?" you gasped, already trying to consider how much you and he could get away with in the nearly deserted parking garage. But he was a step ahead of you.
Bradley unlocked your car, handed you the keys, and unbuckled his belt. He eased himself carefully onto the backseat, rubbed his thigh and braced his big foot against the center console. "Come here," he coaxed, and you climbed right in.

Note
for those smutty prompts you reblogged ☺️ 29, which also goes pretty well with 7 too 💁🏼‍♀️
They do and they fit Birdie and Roo very well!
Warnings: Bradley's hands, reader has a nickname (no appearance described), smut, mentions of insecurities, did I mention Bradley's hands?
You should've noticed it earlier. Any other time when you weren't at your job, when you didn't have to be a professional.
But when Bradley went to give one of your students a high five, the stark juxtaposition of his hand compared to an eight year old's was astounding.
They were huge.
You wanted to entwine your hand with his, to feel his calloused fingertips. You wanted to feel them all over your body, particularly your throat.
But you were at your job. He was here to talk about his job for Career Day, filling in for a last minute cancellation.
So instead, you cleared your throat, "Let's give a big thank you to Mr. Bradshaw for coming in!"
Your professionalism nearly faltered when his hand laid itself on your shoulder, giving you a gentle squeeze.
"I'll see you later?" Bradley whispered, brown eyes full of hope.
One could see your quiet nod as a way to not draw attention to the interaction.
But you knew the truth. It was to keep yourself from saying something highly inappropriate in front of twenty third graders.
After your illy-timed revelation, it felt like the universe was doing everything within it's power to draw attention to Bradley's hands.
When you came home, you found Bradley in your kitchen, long fingers splayed out across one of your cabinets as his other hand worked to tighten a screw. His brows were knitted together in concentration, the tip of his pink tongue sticking out between his teeth as he focused.
His sweet brown eyes lit up when he saw you at the doorway of the kitchen.
"You'd think for how much your landlord charges, they'd have the decency to make sure all the screws are on tight."
It was such a sweet gesture. You hadn't mentioned it at all, meaning he must have noticed it himself. He took the time to grab his toolbox, bring it over here, and begin fixing it himself.
And all you could do was stare at his hands.
"Birdie? You okay?" His question broke you out of your trance.
"Oh yeah! Thanks Roo," you quickly kissed his warm cheek before excusing yourself to change.
This was bad. It was too early in the relationship to say something. You two had only slept together a handful of times. You still fucked in missionary there was no way you could ask him to choke you.
And what if he wasn't into that? What if he thought it was weird? Wouldn't be the first guy. But the difference now was that you really liked Bradley. You could see a future with him and he felt the same way.
The last thing you needed was to make him run for the hills.
So when you went into the kitchen after changing, you focused on reheating leftovers. Not the way Bradley was playing with Ladybug in the living room, those God damn hands scratching the dog's belly much to her delight.
This plan was going pretty well, until you felt large palms skimming across your bare thighs, a broad chest pressed against your back.
"Are those new?" Bradley asked, referring to the soft lounge shorts you had on.
"Uh yeah. They were on sale so I decided to treat myself," you quietly explained. God, his hands covered so much of your flesh. The way they gently kneaded the soft muscle of your thighs was heavenly combined with the hairs of his mustache brushing against your neck.
"D-do you like them?" Your voice was shaky, though it was an honest question. Okay, maybe you were trying to distract yourself again because thinking of the least attractive thing wasn't taking your mind off the way his fingers had slipped underneath the hem of your shorts.
Usually thinking of the way Stephen King wrote female characters always did trick. At least it did until Bradley Bradshaw came along.
"Love 'em. Love when you show off your thighs," he rasps in your ear.
"Really?" It was never a body part you noticed. In fact, you tried not to think about your thighs and the stretch marks that danced along the skin there or how much space they took up when you sat down.
Bradley nods before placing a soft kiss on your cheek, "Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I love everything about you Birdie."
His declaration makes your heart flutter.
"Guess I've always been a thigh guy? But yeah, your's are pretty damn amazing." You don't have to turn around, the small chuckle he lets out at the end indicates he's flustered.
When you turn around, you're met with rosy cheeks and bashful eyes. Bradley ducks his head into the crook of your neck, placing small kisses along your jawline.
His admission makes you feel at ease, your worries melting away. Your hands find his, several of your fingers wrapping around only one of his.
"I...I like your hands. A lot," you admit.
Bradley's mouth stills, "Really?"
You giggle, "Yeah. Like how big they are. Like how they feel when I hold them."
His mouth moves upward, now against the shell of your ear, "Saw you looking at them earlier. Is that all you were thinking about? Holding them?"
You could say yes and Bradley will drop it. He's had his suspicions about you, that there was more than you lead on when it came to the bedroom. Little things here and there have led him to believe it, as well as that you needed someone to open that door for you.
"I...." You took a deep breath, "I like how your fingers feel inside of me. And....I want to know how they'd feel around my throat."
The groan Bradley let out was gutteral, causing your thighs to clench.
"Jesus fucking Christ Birdie." For a brief moment, anxiety raced through your mind. You had messed up, had gone too far.
But then Bradley's mouth crashed against yours, his hands gripping the backs of your thighs as he picked you up. While the sudden show of strength made your head spin, it was feeling his erection that made you wonder why you worried in the first place.
Once you were placed on the counter, Bradley's hands trailed up your body, squeezing and kneading your soft flesh. His fingers reminded you that you had opted to go braless when you changed, the deft digits paying particularly close attention to your breasts.
All you could do was hold on, your fingers gripping the fabric of his shirt. Before you could even mark up that pretty neck of his, Bradley's hand found yours. His fingers spanned the entirety of your throat.
The grip he had on your neck forced you to look up, allowing Bradley's lips to crash against yours. It was dizzying, how small he made you feel.
Then his hand pressed against your throat and you were a goner. Broken moans filled your kitchen, your hips rutting against Bradley's in a feeble attempt to get more of him.
His other hand slipped past the waistband of your shorts, your body arching into his when his fingers skimmed the thin fabric of your panties.
You loved his touch. You were pretty sure you loved him too but that was a future you problem.
And all too soon, it was gone- his hand around your throat, the other rubbing your clothed core.
If it weren't for the cloud of anxiety beginning to form in your brain, you may have been able to say something witty, like taking it back to the bedroom. But that would require your brain to not jump to the worst conclusion, such as Bradley realizing how weird it was to be obsessed with hands.
Before you could say anything, Bradley dropped to his knees, now at eye level with your lap.
His long fingers trailed up your legs, leaving goosebumps in their wake. They finally stopped at the waistband of your shorts.
Shit.
Yes, you knew Bradley was coming over. God, you even had the chance to change into something more appealing than the plain underwear that could only be described as 'granny panties'. And yet, it completely slipped your mind that perhaps you and Bradley would be doing something more intimate this evening.
Alright, that was a lie. You had been hoping that would be the case, but expecting it would be rude.
So you went to apologize, like you always did. Apologize for not being sexy enough, thoughtful enough, not considerate enough-
Bradley's mouth silenced you as soon as it latched onto one of your bare thighs. Your fingers found his sun kissed hair, clinging onto the roots to stay somewhat stable, which was extremely difficult considering the attention Bradley was giving to your thighs.
You thought he would give them a kiss or two, maybe a bite and then move on.
Instead, Bradley had developed an unpredictable pattern when it came to your thighs. A bite here, sometimes followed by his tongue lapping over the mark, other times his lips pressing open mouthed kisses over your skin.
It was nice. Borderline unusual, considering those you dated in the past hardly spent anytime on one specific body part. Was he doing this because of your unappealing underwear?
No. Bradley said he liked-no-loved your thighs. And Bradley Bradshaw actually meant what he said.
The seed of doubt that had tried to grow in your mind withered away with each kiss, with each love bite and mark he placed on your thighs. With every action done by his stupidly talented mouth, worries about what you were wearing faded away.
Instead, you could just enjoy the insanely attractive man who was in between your legs.
God, he was so fucking hot. In such a short time, he had mastered your body, knowing the perfect amount of pressure when he sunk his teeth into your skin. His fingers gripped your soft flesh, hard enough to leave hand-shaped bruises but soft enough to still be pleasurable.
Tension melted off your body. Your head lolled back, mind focused on how enjoyable it was-
Oh.
This is what it was supposed to be like all along, wasn't it?
"Birdie? You okay baby?" When you opened your eyes, Bradley was at eye level with you.
You could only let out a confused huh.
"You stopped making those cute noises." He thought those were cute? You had been trying to hold back, not wanting to be too loud.
Maybe you should be louder.
"Yeah, sorry, I was just enjoying myself," you said sheepishly.
Bradley shook his head, "Nothing you have to apologize for."
When you looked up, he was giving you that earnest smile that made your heart flutter.
It's that exact smile that gives you the courage to learn forward and kiss him, trying to pour as much passion as one can with one simple action.
Your body arches into his, fingers weaving through those soft curls.
One of Bradley's hands snaked down your body, going past the waistband of your panties. A jolt of electricity went up your spine upon feeling his fingers brush against your soaked core.
When his fingers traced over your entrance, you didn't hold back.
Which was great for Bradley, as the desperate moan you let out made his cock twitch.
Of course his fingers were quick and talented, considering his job. You just never considered how it would translate to the bedroom (or kitchen in this case). The first time he thrusted his fingers inside of you, you thought it was a fluke. It had been ages since someone had touched you, which explained why you came so quickly.
But now? You knew better.
Your small kitchen was quickly filled with the sounds of your moans and heavy breathing. Each time his fingers stroked that one spot, you saw stars behinds your eyelids.
How did he find it so quickly?
When his thumb reached up to draw circles on your clit, all you could say was his name over and over again.
Your head felt like cotton, but in a good way. Maybe he could feel the heat radiating off of your body, but for once you didn't care. A particularly hard yank of his locks earned you a low, guttural growl from Bradley, making your walls clench around his fingers.
His free hand quickly found the sides of your neck, squeezing just enough to make a broken wail fall from your lips.
You were fucking gorgeous like this, ears teary from pleasure, lips parted. Bradley had a strong feeling there was more than what you had initially shown him. But that strong wall of reservation had broken down over time. Seeing you like this was nearly enough to make him cum right then and there.
"Br-Bradley," you barely got out, as he changed the angle of his hand, his fingers now able to thrust deeper inside you. Fuck, were you hearing yourself? Did he make you that wet?
It was absolutely certain.
"Yeah?" His voice was smooth like honeyed wine, "You gonna come for Mrs. Bradshaw?"
Fuck.
All at once it hit you like a tidal wave. Your hips jerked erratically, desperate to get as much of his fingers as possible, trying to ride out the wave as much as possible.
Thank god he didn't stop. You were addicted to the pure bliss that was running through your veins. No worries, seeds of doubt miles away. All you could focus on was the gorgeous man in front of you who was making you see stars.
You could process what he said later.
For now, you just rode it out.
"So fucking pretty like this," He rasped in your ear, fingers continuing their ministrations, "Y'know that?" All you could do was weakly nod, sensitivity beginning to overtake your body as you were pulled back to that pleasurable edge.
"Yeah, you're my pretty girl. All mine." The declaration made your head spin.
"A-All yours-Bradley!"
This time when you came, your hands clutched the soft fabric of his shirt, clinging onto him for dear life. Second orgasms were really a thing? You always thought that your inability to experience it in the past indicated that something was wrong with you.
You were beginning to learn the problem wasn't always you.
When he pulled out, his arms wrapped around your back, pulling you in for a hug. Bradley quietly rocked you back and forth, pressing soft kisses to your temple.
"You good Birdie girl?" He asked, the smile evident in his voice.
You nodded, a dozy grin appearing on your face, "Yeah I just-wow. Never came twice before. Thought it was a myth or something."
"I think you've just been with shit people," Bradley stated, feeling comfortable enough to finally address it.
"I think you're right," your arms around his waist and your head settled against his chest.
"I-sorry about what I said earlier," Bradley muttered.
Oh yeah. That was something to talk about.
"The Mrs. Bradshaw thing?" you asked.
Heat rushed to Bradley's cheeks as he rubbed a hand against the back of his neck, "Yeah....I'm sorry if that weirded you out. You were just really pretty-I mean you're always pretty-"
"It's not the first time you've called me that." You felt calm talking about it. Part of that was seeing Bradley visibly nervous.
You did what you would have wanted someone to do. You take his hands into yours, giving them a gentle squeeze as you looked up at him with a soft smile.
"I mean it. I don't mind at all. It was actually....sweet but also kinda hot," you admitted, feeling heat rise to your face.
Bradley raised an eyebrow, "Oh really?"
You playfully rolled your eyes, "Oh God are you going to use this against me?"
"Absolutely I am." Before you could even protest, Bradley had already picked you up.
"C'mon Mrs. Bradshaw, I'm far from done with you."

Ch. 4
summary: The angles formed the world and all mortal life from dust. One day from the unknown the angels came across bizarre dust, that seemed to have a will of its own. It refused to be molded and shaped to the angel's will. So they cast it aside, till a certain angel got his creative hands on it.
(bittersweet story) (platonic) Lucifer x (???) Reader x Sera
<-Part 3/ Part 5 ->
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yuu Cried out as pure energy flowed from them like a roaring river. The vortex thrashed and trashed everything in the room, as Yuu let everything flow. Sera watched in worry as the energy started to get stronger with no signs of stopping. The roof above the child threatened to give way, so without a thought Sera rushed to Yuu.
She quickly wrapped her arms around the crying child. But the energy rushing out of Yuu burned her skin as she held the child close. The energy was hot?... Cold? All she could tell was that hurt like Hell.
(Song You'll be in my heart)
"Come stop your crying It will be alright Just take my hand Hold it tight I will protect you From all around you" Sera sang, straining through the pain.
Yuu's thrashing started to slow a bit. Sera slowly and gently held the child's hand, giving it a small squeeze.
"I will be here Don't you cry
For one so small You seem so strong My arms will hold you Keep you safe and warm," Sera continued as the flow of energy started to weaken, very slowly.
"This bond between us Can't be broken I will be here don't you cry," She sang as Yuu slowly curled up close to her.
"Cause you'll be in my heart Yes, you'll be in my heart From this day on Now and forever more," As The angel sang, Yuu's cries became soft whimpers as the cortex finally vanished.
"You'll be in my heart No matter what they say You'll be here in my heart Always," Sera sang as she looked at the destruction around the room. She slowly walked out of the room to Yuu's room to tuck them in.
"Always," She finished as she gently tucked the blanket over Yuu. With that, she quietly turns to leave.
"Don't leave. Don't leave," Yuu whimpered in their sleep.
Sera paused for a moment and looked at the door. Yet her heart wouldn't allow her to go, not after what she saw. So with a sigh, Sera sat down in a comfy chair in the room and slowly drifted to sleep.

Crash!!!
Sera gasped awake at the sound of crashing plates. She looks over to Yuu's bed to see it is empty. She quickly rushed down to the kitchen to see. Yuu... Making Pancakes? How were they making pancakes? They're a child!
"Ah Sorry, Ms.Sera! I was making SorryCakes. But some pans fell over," Yuu said as they cleaned up the spilled dishes.
"Sorrycakes?" Sera asked with a confused chuckle.
"Sorry Pancakes. Cause I of that," Yuu said as they pointed to Sera's burns on her arms and torso.
"Oh, Well apology accepted Yuu," Sera said as she used her magic to clean the mess around the kitchen. "Did Lucifer teach you how to make pancakes?"
"I watched him, so I copied what he did. I got better at it when I had to cook for myself... When he left me...Alone," Yuu said as they placed the plate in front of Sera.
"Thank you," Sera smiles and takes a few bits out of the food. "How are you feeling?"
"I don't know. I think sad...Angry? I don't know, I just... I just want me Da," Yuu said weakly. "Was what Da did really that bad?"
"I'm afraid so. He has let Roo take hold of Earth and now her influence will reign over humanity forever," Sera explained.
"Why is that a bad thing? It only affects humans, and not us," Yuu pointed out.
"If only it were that simple. Humans are mortal and don't live forever like you and I. Originally when they passed on, their souls would join us in heaven. However now that sin has entered Earth, we can't accept bad souls into our realm," Sera explained.
"Bad souls?" Yuu asked.
"Humans who in life have done bad things, committing sin," Sera said slowly, trying the best she could to explain to the child.
"So if souls don't sin, and stay good. They can come to heaven?" Yuu asked slowly.
"Or at least lived a not-to-sinful life," Sera nodded.
"So If... If I help humans not be bad... And not sin. Can Da come back?" Yuu asked with slight hope.
Sera sighed sadly as she could see the gears turning in Yuu's head.
"I'm not really sure if it is possible. Lucifer's banishment was decided by the vote of the elder council," Sera tried to explain. But she could already see the gears turn in the young child's head.
-------------------------------
60 Years Later
Suddenly a grand bell rang. A Human soul has arrived in heaven.
"What's that?" Yuu asked.
"The first human soul has arrived in heaven. Come, let go welcome them," Ser smiles as she holds her hand to Yuu.
"Okay," Yuu said nervously as they held Sera's hand.
-------------------------------------
The angels of all ranks stood at the pearly gates, all excited as they welcomed this first human. I've never seen them so excited before. Sera parted the crowd as I followed closely behind her to see this human.
And there he was standing in the middle of the crowd, who looked on in awe. Yet The human seemed really freaked out as he looked around frantically.
"Abel! Abel!" The human man cried out. "Where's my Son?! Where Is Eve!?"
"Son? Where is his family?" I asked Mother Sera.
"Wait right here okay," She said gently as she flys over the Human.
I watched as Sera spoke to the human, who was tiny compared to her. As She spoke to him, at first, he was upset and yelling. When suddenly he wasn't, he was quiet and sad. Only to quickly fly off somewhere, and no one followed. I hope he is okay.
So, Silently I followed this human. He flew off to some distant cloud to sit in silence. Slowly I inched my way closer and closer when he suddenly turned. Quickly spotted me.
“What? What are you? You don’t looks like the others,” Adam questioned.
“I’m… Huh… I don’t really know. My Dad created me,” I answered honestly.
“Why are you here?” Adam asked sharply.
“W-why are you sad. Is it because your family isn’t here?” I asked softly.
“There not, and it’s all because of that Bi-… S-Snake of a women’s fault,” Adam stumbled as he looked at me.
I wonder what he was going to say, and who is the snake Women?
“E-Eve?” I asked slowly.
“No! Lilith! I knew she was up to no good. I should have listened to my gut, and sent her away when she came back,” Adam said in anger as he passed back and forth.
"What did Lilith do?" I asked.
"She tricked my wife, and know she is condemned forever. When Eve out of anyone should be up here. Lilith and her stupid Angel lover screwed her over. Just to get back at me," Adam said bitterly.
'wait angel lover? Can't be right?' Then I remembered something, from the last night I saw Da. He was working on something. Saying that "she" believed in his dreams. And hidden behind his arm was a small red fruit, crafted and embued with magic.
"Did Lilith use a red fruit of some kind?" I asked slowly.
"Yeah an Apple," Adam confirmed but paused as he stopped to look at me. "Why do you ask?"
"That was my Da. I saw him working on it. But he promised me he wouldn't cause trouble! He promised," I said weakly. That promise is nothing known.
Adam just sighed in frustration as he randomly tousled my hair. He simply sits down and stares into the distance.
"Looks like you were also screwed over by Lilith. She screwed me out of being with my wife, Screwed Eve out of getting into heaven, and you out of a Father," Adam said simply as we sat in silence.
----------------------------
"Yuu! Yuu where did you go!" Sera called out as she searched for them.
As she looked around she spotted them, Adam looked up to see her. He turned to Yuu to turn their attention to Sera. The seraphim smiled in relief as she opened her arms as Yuu floated into her embrance.
"Thank you Adam for finding them," Sera nodded.
"No problem," He said plainly as he walked off.
As Sera carried Yuu away, she noticed that Yuu was still deep in thought. Very troubled thoughts.
"What's on your mind Yuu?" Sera asked.
"Adam said that Da was Lilith's lover... What is a lover?" Yuu asked.
Sera stuttered a bit as she quickly came up with a child-friendly explanation.
"Lovers is something that happens between two adults. When they love each other very much, they want to spend the rest of their lives together. And eventually, start a family all their own," Sera explained.
Yuu remained silent for a bit as they mulled over the information. When Yuu slowly asked again.
"So... Da loved Lilith more? And that's why he chose not to keep his promise?" Yuu asked, their eyes began to water. "Did... Did Da no longer want me? To be with me?"
Sera gasped as he held the poor child and they began to cry.
"Was it cause I couldn't make the world we said we'd make fast enough? I tried, I really Tried! I worked so hard," Yuu said as the tears started to roll down Yuu's cheeks.
"Oh, Yuu. It is not your fault. Lucifer loves you very much. But the love he felt for Lilith blinded him from realizing he had someone important home. He left you alone for days on end for Lilith. That was selfish of him," Sera comforted Yuu. "If only he slowed down to see how much. How far and beyond you went for him, to make a world for him."
Yuu hugged Sera tightly, their little arms wrapping around Sera's neck.
"Now, let's get lunch," Sera smiles.
"PANCAKES!" Yuu says as they try to wipe all the tears away.
"Pancakes? Didn't you have enough pancakes for a lifetime," Sera chuckled.
--------------------------------------------
Meanwhile in Hell
Lucifer was able to create a safe castle within hell for himself and Lilith. Lilith slept soundly on the soft king-size bed that she shared with Lucifer. Sadly as the new queen slept peacefully, the king on the other hand was haunted. He thrashes and turns on his bed as falls into a dream.

Spencer Reid x Fem Reader
Summary: About a week into knowing her, Spencer knew he wanted to marry her one day. So, for her birthday, at The Eras Tour, he kneels to the ground and pulls out a ring...
Warnings: allusions to sex, stupid couple fights, Spencer spoiling her, roadtrips, food and drink mention, talks of the future (future kids) proposals.
a/n: this fic is for my best friend in the whole worlds birthday. @reidsbookclub, i love you, i hope you have the best time at your concert tonight <3
Word Count: 6k
Set in the Sweet Nothing Universe
Tumblr media
He’s been in Reno for 3 months and dating Y/N for 3 months now, too.
They practically live together now that it’s summer vacation for her. She took on some kids for tutoring, and she sees them a few hours a week whenever they have time. She mostly goes to their houses or meets them at the public library, which is right next door to his work. She brings him in a coffee or a snack whenever she’s in town, they have lunches together and she even stays a little longer in town so she can drive him home afterwards.
It’s been wonderful.
Everyone at work knows her, they call her Mrs. Reid as a joke and she thinks it's cute… Spencer, on the other hand, wishes she was his wife so, so bad. It’s way too early to ask her, even if he knows in his heart that she’s the one for him. So he’s waiting. He’s not sure how long he’ll wait. He doesn’t even know if she wants to get married one day. He still has some things to learn about her.
Her birthday is coming up, soon, he knows that much. He actually learned about her birthday when Penelope was first telling him all about her. August 4th, making her a Leo, the lion sign, even though she’s as gentle as a flower.
They haven’t planned anything for her birthday yet, it's still a couple of weeks away. He knows she’s told her kids that she’ll be busy from the 3rd to the 6th, taking 4 days just to herself, she wasn’t planning on doing anything. Spencer wants to treat her to something so bad. Be it a nice dinner, a gift she wants or a trip somewhere. So he takes those 4 days off too, he books it in advance with his boss, it’s approved and now he just has to plan something.
During one of his lunch breaks that she isn’t sitting in on, he takes out his phone and calls up Penelope. Having known Y/N longer, she’s the perfect person to discuss ideas with.
“Spencer my lovely! What are you doing calling me at 3pm on a weekday?” She answers full of cheer.
“Y/N’s birthday is coming up, I need your expert advice on what to get her,” he heads right into it, skipping all the niceties, he only cares about her.
“Taylor Swift tickets, duh!”
“I tried that months ago, they sold out way too fast,” he complains. “We missed the Vegas show 'cause I obviously didn’t know her in March, all she has left are the Seattle and California shows… but again, they’re all sold out and the resale tickets are insane.”
“Hey, six grand for 2 tickets with the love of your life is so worth it,” Penelope teases. “I might have a connection to the Inglewood show… maybe I can see if they have any last-minute tickets?”
“How do you have a ticket connection?”
“My brother's wife works for Ticketmaster, she said they save some tickets for important people until the last minute and if they’re not taken, they get released to the general public and you can get better deals if you call Ticketmaster instead of going online,” she explains. “I’ll give her a call, I’ll see what she can do.”
“Okay, call me back when you know more?”
“Will do, Spence-roo,” she says before hanging up, making him smile.
He goes home to Y/N’s apartment that night, they have a home-cooked meal together and they settle down on the couch to watch something on TV and just relax for the rest of the night.
She’s cuddled into Spencer’s side watching TikTok on her phone. She scrolled and scrolled and scrolled, barely watching anything for more than 30 seconds and then she stops on one. Spencer can hear the music and the cheering, it’s a tour video. He peeks over to it, watching as someone proposed to their girlfriend in the middle of Love Story.
She likes it, opens the comments and congratulated them. The next words out of his mouth are barely in his control. They just tumble out.
“Do you ever think about getting married?”
She smiles up at him, “To you? Absolutely.”
He pulls her in for a kiss. She locks her phone and tosses it to the side so she can climb into his lap and kiss him some more. His hands migrate to her hips, and she runs her fingers through his ever-growing hair. Making out with her on the couch, she lightly grinds against him, he hums into the kiss, breaking it to kiss her jaw along to her ear.
“I’d want to marry you too…”
She cups his face, staring him down, “Ask me whenever you’re ready.”
“It’s not too soon?”
She shakes her head, “No… I mean, people will probably think you knocked me up because of how fast we’ve moved but, it’s been 3 months. We know everything about each other, we sleep beside each other every single night, and I never want to break up with you. The next logical move would be to get married.”
He steals another kiss, “I think,” he kisses her again on her jaw again, making his way down her neck, “You’re right.”
She smiles, letting him go down to her boobs, “about people thinking you got me knocked up?”
He laughs against her, “I mean, we fuck so often—
“No, don’t even joke,” she pulls his attention back to her. “You can’t get me pregnant just randomly, I don’t have enough money to pay for my substitute. You’d have to knock me up so I can have the baby in the summer…”
He laughs, “You’re not serious, right?”
“I’m completely serious. I don’t get maternity leave, I have to have summer babies if I want to keep my job.”
“I have money,” he reminds her. “If we get married it becomes our money, you’d never have to worry about anything ever again.”
She settles slightly, her shoulders drop again and she stares at him so softly, “I’d still worry, you know me.”
He kisses her again, reaching up to brush her hair back, “I’m going to take care of you for the rest of your life… and if we ever had kids, you know I’d do the same for them.”
“Do you want kids, like genuinely?” She asks. “Cause I know you love Henry and you said that you thought about having them with Maeve but—
“I want you to have my babies… whenever you’re ready,” he tosses the phrase back to her.
That does it, she dives back in for another kiss, heating it up tenfold, he cradles her head and back, leaning down against the couch so he can hover over her. Working the button on her jeans open, he starts to tug on them when his phone rings. He wants to just let it ring, but it’s Penelope's ringtone. He hasn’t changed it, no matter how long he hasn’t worked with her, it’s still the same thing.
“Hold on,” he whispers, trying to pull away.
“Leave it,” she tugs him back in. She gets a few more kisses in and then he pulls back further.
“I can’t, I’m sorry, I have to take this,” he reaches out to grab his phone off the coffee table and walks out of the apartment to take the call.
“Hello?”
“Hey, sorry, I know it’s late,” Penelope answers. “But I have good news. We were able to pull some strings and I got you 2 floor tickets for the 4th.”
“No way?” He’s gobsmacked.
“Way!! I gave her your information, the tickets are in your name and they’re being mailed to you so you’ll have physical tickets. You can just pay me back.”
“What was the damage?”
“they were $1800 each…”
“That’s a lot better than the resale price,” he’s so glad. “Thank you, Penny, really, she’s going to love this.”
“Hey, she was my friend first, I’d do anything for her,” Penny teases. “Now go back to hanging out with her, I’ll talk to you later, okay?”
“thank you, we love you,” he reminds her.
“I love you too!” And then she’s gone.
He heads back inside and she’s no longer on the couch. The tv is off, all the lights are out, and she’s retreated back to the bedroom. He knocks before he enters, “Hey… sorry about that.”
“It’s fine,” she says, clearly a bit upset. “I get it, works more important that me sometimes.”
“No, no it’s not… and that wasn’t work.”
“Is that supposed to make me feel better? Cause it doesn’t.”
He timidly walks towards her, “Hey, hey, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have walked out on you like that. I know. But it was important… it’s for your birthday, that’s all I can say.”
She bites back a smile, looking him dead in the eyes. “Really?”
He nods, “You still have from the 3rd to the 6th off, right?”
She nods, “I do… why?”
“I’ll tell you more when the day gets closer, just, don’t plan anything, I want to make this special. This is our first birthday together, I want to celebrate you.”
“Okay, you’re forgiven,” she gives in, she rushes over to him and tosses her arms around his neck. “But next time it rings and you’re about to go down on me, it can wait.”
“It definitely can,” he agrees, picking her up, he tosses her onto the bed. “Let me make it up to you.”
She watches the era’s tour live streams on TikTok every weekend, she favourites outfits that she’d want to wear and she tells Spencer all about the surprise songs that she’d want to hear live one day.
What she doesn’t know is that Spencer has memorized everything she’s said and he’s been using it to his advantage. He’s found her Pinterest board with eras tour dream outfits, and he’s made a playlist of her favourite songs so he’ll be able to sing along no matter what surprise songs happen. And he’s started to buy tour outfits for himself too.
He puts a lot of work into her tour outfit, too. It’s midnights themed, he got her a denim jacket with the back panel cut out and replaced with a starry lace pattern. He bought iron on paper and printed out her favourite lyrics to iron onto the arms and put stars on a pair of dark blue Converse. He’s even been making friendship bracelets while on his lunch break at work. He just hasn’t been able to decide on what to get her to wear under the jacket and with the shoes. Nothing seems to be perfect enough.
He’s walking home from work one night when he passes a window display full of sparkly dresses. He just doesn’t want to get her the wrong size. So he has the bright idea to take one of Y/N's dresses with him to the store to compare sizes. Trying to steal one of her dresses… that’s going to be difficult.
“I have a question for you,” he asks that night at dinner. “But you can’t ask any follow-up questions or anything, okay?”
“Alright..?”
“Can I have one of your dresses to compare to a dress I want to buy you for your birthday?”
She swoons, “Yeah… or you could take my measurements?”
“Either way, I just want to make sure it fits.”
And so that night she gives him one of her favourite dresses. She tells him the size she prefers in different fabrics and he makes a mental note of every single thing she says.
-
The next day, he brings the dress to work with him, people want to ask questions but they don’t. He makes it through the day, walks out of work with the dress and right into the store he saw yesterday.
The shop owner clocks him right away, noticing the dress, she thinks he’s making a return.
“Hi, how can I help you?”
“I’m surprising my girlfriend with Taylor Swift tickets for her birthday and I’m trying to plan her outfit, too, and the dress in the window is perfect! I brought in one of her other dresses, just to compare sizing so I get it right,” he explains.
“Oh my god, aren’t you the dream boyfriend?” She teases. “Can I see that?”
He places it on the counter for her, she takes a look at the tag and holds it up, “I think I have the window dress in this size… what era are you going for?”
“I made her a jacket in the Midnights aesthetic and her shoes are evermore,” he shares. “The dress in the window is kinda mirrorball-esque, I like it.”
“You know your shit,” she can’t believe it. “Do you have an outfit picked out?”
He shakes his head. “No, I can’t decide if I want to do fearless or lover…”
“You could do both, get a puffy Romeo shirt and some pink pants, that would be cute?”
“Yeah, yeah I like that idea… you know the Lover album cover, the heart she has around her eye? How would I do that?” He asks, he hasn’t had someone to talk to about any of this, so he’s taking a chance and asking everything.
She’s really helpful, she’s able to get him the dress in the right size, show him where he can get adhesive sparkles for the face, helps him plan his own outfit and even get some accessories too. He spends a fair bit of money in her store and he thanks her.
“I’m going to bring her back here after the tour, maybe she can get her engagement party dress here,” he suggests.
“Wait, are you going to ask her to marry you at the show?”
He nods, “During love story.”
“She’s one lucky girl,” the shop owner swoons again. She’s overjoyed for them. “If you bring her back here for that I’ll give you a discount, that’s the sweetest thing in the world. I really hope she says yes.”
“Me too.”
He stole a piece of her costume jewelry when she wasn’t looking, a ring she typically wears on her right ring finger and brings it with him to all the jewelry shops he goes to. Finding a ring that feels like Y/N is hard. He wants it to be perfect, he wants it to be big and pretty and something she’ll show off to everyone. He wants it to be a ring that will stay in style for the next 50 years, he wants it to last.
He’s looked at a million styles, every colour and cut imaginable… but nothing seems right. He knows the kind of rings she likes from her Pinterest, but even they don’t seem to fit what he imagines for them. This ring is supposed to symbolize their love and their relationship. It has to be perfect.
He finds the ring on Etsy of all places. It was his last chance to get a ring. There were only 2 weeks until her birthday and he had to make sure the ring was in his possession before they took their trip to LA.
The ring comes in two parts, one ring for the engagement and the other for the wedding. The wedding band perfectly encompasses the engagement ring, making the main ring look like it has little leaves coming out from around it.
He gets them in white gold, the main stone is a man-made, oval-shaped diamond and the stones around it are man-made opal, 4 on each side to be exact, shaped like little diamonds. The wedding band also has man-made stones, in green. Together, they look perfect. He has them expedited, he pays the artist top dollar to make sure they’re at his house by August 1st and he prays they make it.
She picks him up after work on July 31st and when they arrive at his house, there’s a package sitting on his front step. Part of him is furious that they just left it, they didn’t leave a drop-off notice and take it back to the UPS store for safekeeping, the rest of him is relieved that it made it. Y/N on the other hand, is nosey. She wants to know what he ordered. She’s curious as to why he didn’t want to open it in front of her, but she doesn’t bring it up again once he hides it in his room.
They’re in the middle of cooking dinner when she wraps her arms around him, stands on her tip-toes and rests her head on his shoulder to watch him stir around the pan. “Can I ask a question about my birthday?” She pries slightly.
“Depends on the question.”
“Do I have to pack a bag or anything?” She asks the first question.
“Yeah… I got us an Airbnb for the few days we’re taking off work,” he explains, not giving away too much.
“Okay, and what should I pack?”
“Underwear, pyjamas, comfy clothes,” he lists off a few things. “Makeup and whatever you want to do with your hair… I’m going to tell you what’s happening the day of, you’ll have a few hours to plan for each event.”
“Each event?” She picks that out.
He just nods, “You’ll find out more later.”
“Fine,” she sighs, resting her chest against his back now, she holds him tighter. “I’m going to go all out for your birthday too, you know.”
“I know… we’re kind of obsessed with each other,” he teases.
“I think it’s called love,” she reminds him.
“You’re right… I do love you a lot,” he says as he spins around in her grip and hugs her close, kissing her neck gently. “I love you so much.”
She hums happily, “I love you too, sneaky man. It’s killing me that I don’t know what’s happening but I trust you.”
“Good,” he pulls back and cups her cheek. “How would you feel leaving late on the 2nd instead of early on the 3rd?”
“We can do that, I know you prefer driving at night,” she knows him well. “We can pack after work and leave once we’re done.”
“I will be packed the day before,” he teases. “I’m not a last-minute man.”
“Oh, I know, you don’t do anything lightly, but I might need help packing,” she reminds him. “You can help me pick out accessories and shoes to match whatever you got me.”
“You think I didn't get you shoes and accessories? Have you seen me?” He teases, that’s one thing she loves about him. He’s always matching.
She just laughs, “Of course you did.”
Spencer walks from his apartment to hers with 2 suitcases, one for his own things and one just for their eras tour outfits. He has her second key fob, so he unlocks her car when he arrives and puts his things in the backseat and heads up to her apartment. He knocks once but ultimately lets himself in. “Babe?”
“Bedroom!” She calls back, letting him know where she is.
“Hey…”
“So I’ve played out a bunch of outfits, what ones will be good for what you have planned?”
“Anything is good, I have your outfit for the main event planned, the rests are dinners, brunches and us driving to and from California.”
“We’re going to California?” She can’t believe it… but then she clues in. “Oh my god, Spencer, why are we going to California?”
He shrugs, “I don’t know, you tell me?”
“I’m going to lose my mind if we’re doing what I think we’re doing,” she explains, rushing to his side, she places her hands on his shoulders, “I’m going to go nuts.”
“I have no idea what you’re referring to…”
She can’t believe him, she just hugs him and holds him there, “Oh, you’re so cute when you try to lie to me, I love you so much.”
“I love you,” he hugs her back, kissing the top of her head. “Now, hurry up and pack, we can check into the Airbnb after 10pm tonight, if we leave now we could be there by midnight?”
And so they pack her up, they check the apartment to make sure everything is off and all the widows are closed and they head out. She locks the door, he brings her suitcase down to the car and she lets him drive. He’s a lot more comfortable on the road at night, he takes them out of Reno, down Highway 695 towards Carson City. They see Bridgeport, Willow Springs, Mammoth and Crowley Lake, Big Pine, Independence, Long Pine and then they stop for gas and a snack. He drives from Long Pine to Ridgecrest and then they pass through Mojave around 11:30.
They’re in the home stretch now. She knows exactly what’s happening when they go through Santa Clara.  She can see on their GPS that by taking the 405 south they’ll end up in Inglewood in just a few minutes.
He got them a cute little Airbnb just a stone's throw from the stadium, they’d be able to walk to and from if they wanted to. Once he parks outside of it, she turns to him with tears in her eyes. “How did you manage to do this?”
“Penelope,” he says with a smile. “She knows someone at Ticketmaster, they got me really good tickets for the 4th. I bought you an outfit, I made myself one, too… I know how badly you wanted to see her so I made it happen.”
“You really are the man of my dreams,” she swoons. “Thank you.”
“I’d do anything for you,” he reminds her. Meaning every word.
“I know… now let’s get all our shit inside so I can give you a proper thank you.”
They spend their first day there just looking around. They have brunch at a cute little spot she’s always wanted to try, they visit the National History Museum and Exposition Park. It’s a lovely day where they just get to hold hands and be together. They order dinner to their Airbnb and eat while watching TV and then they spend another night in bed together. It’s perfect.
When they wake up on the 4th, Spencer smothers her in kisses and wishes her a happy birthday… they don’t leave the bed for a while after that.
He orders her breakfast and while they’re waiting for it, he shows her the outfit he has picked out for her. The dress, her jacket, the shoes, a cute little clear purse for the stadium and a lot of sparkly makeup options for whatever she wants to do.
“Spencer, this is perfect?” She’s amazed by it all. “How did you know?”
“I found your Pinterest,” he shrugs. “and you always show me cute outfits on TikTok, I took a lot of inspiration from what I knew you’d like and your favourite songs to make this… and these,” he pulls out a ziplock bag full of bracelets. All handmade. All perfect.
She spreads all the bracelets out on their bed, and she reads each and every single one. He has sent titles, lyrics and abbreviations, even quotes from Taylor that he’s memorized from how many times she’s watched Miss Americana on her days off. “Spence, how am I going to part with these?”
He shrugs, “Don’t trade your favourites? Maybe leave any special ones here?”
“Yeah, I guess I could do that… I can’t believe you went through all the trouble of making these just for me, seriously, when did you have the time?”
“On my lunch breaks,” he laughs to himself. “I had no idea what I was doing and then Keesha, our undercover girl, showed me how to make them better.”
“Everything is perfect, Spence,” she stands and wraps her arms around him, holding him close. “This is going to be the best night of my life.”
She really had no idea.
“I was thinking we could maybe go get our nails done,” he says as she pulls away. “We don’t have to be at the stadium till 6, I think it would be nice to get some eras nails done? I might even get some colour?”
“Yeah, that sounds amazing!” She agrees, not thinking anything of it.
He really just wants her to think her nails are pretty when he slips the ring onto her finger later tonight.
He already made the appointment with a local nail salon for 1pm, giving them enough time to head back to their Airbnb and get ready for the show and maybe even get something to eat before they go. He’s such a planner. She loved every second of it, it made her less stressed to know that he already knew everything that was going on and he was confident about it too.
He gets his nails done as well. He’s always wanted to but never had the chance to. He gets just basic gel while she goes all out with a shorter acrylic shape, she gets sparkles and stars all in the 10 different album colours and she loves them. She keeps staring at them the whole walk home, she loves how they sparkle in the light and how pretty the shape makes her hand look.
The ring is going to look even better on her hand now.
They shower together back at their place, Spencer watches in awe as she does her hair and her makeup and it’s not until the end that he hands her the adhesive sparkles and asks her to help him put the lover heart around his eye.
“What did you plan for your outfit?” She asks while carefully sticking each sparkle to his face.
“I got some bright pink pants, like, highlighter pink, bright,” he smirks. “I also bought a puffy shirt like Romeo… I wanted to go for Lover Story.”
She laughs, “Oh you’re going to look good.”
“I also bought cowboy boots…”
“You didn’t,” she can’t believe it. “What colour?”
“Pink.”
“Oh my god, Spence… really?”
“well like you said Lover and Midnights go together like they were planned to be back to back and you’re my other half so I wanted us to match… and then I’m partly fearless which came after Evermore which is on your shoes, so, it all matches.”
“I love you,” she cups his face gently, “like it’s insane how much I love you.”
“It’s not insane. It’s the perfect amount,” he teases, pulling her in for a kiss.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She doesn’t know they have front-row seats until they’re at the stadium getting their tickets checked. The best part of her reaction at the gate is that she thinks this is the last surprise… she’s so overjoyed with the thought of being that close to Taylor Swift that she can’t even fathom him proposing tonight.
From all the Tiktok's that she’s watched since March, she knows that the best time to go to the merch stands isn’t before the concert. It’s during. So, on their way to their seats, they simply buy some overpriced drinks and trade a couple friendship bracelets before heading towards their seats. She looks around with her mouth agape, amazed at how big the place is and how much of the stage takes up the floor.
At their seats, she shakes her head and lets out an exasperated laugh, “I can’t believe you got these?”
“Only the best for my girl,” he teases, wrapping his arm around her, he brings her in and kisses the top of her head. “I love you, Happy birthday.”
“I love you,” she smiles up at him. “Thank you for this, really. I’m going to thank you a million times.”
“You don’t have to,” he waves it off. “I wanted to come too, you know, she’s a big reason we’re together in the first place.”
“If only we could tell her thank you,” she laughs.
“We should’ve made a sign,” he teases.
“We should’ve…” she agrees. “Maybe I can just put big text on my phone and hold it up to her?”
“That could work.”
So that’s what she does, sitting in her seat, waiting for the opener, she drafts a few things to say while the stadium starts to fill up.
It takes a while before someone behind them actually shows up. Spencer worried there for a moment that the seats behind him didn’t sell and thus part of his plan for tonight would be ruined… but then a couple girls, in their teens, show up just before HIAM comes out to play.
Spencer takes something from his pocket, pretends to reach between their seats to the floor and turns back to one of the girls. “Um, I think you dropped this,” Spencer says to the girls behind them, he hands them a note and a $5 bill. Y/N watches him hand it back to them and then turns right back to watching the openers play.
“Oh thanks,” the girl says with a smile. She opens the note and her eyes widen as she reads it.
‘Can you please record me and my future fiancé during love story? I have an important question to ask her and I want to remember it forever.’ And his number at the bottom.
She looks at Spencer with her eyes full of tears and nods, mouthing “I can do that.”
He gives her a thumbs up and turns back to watching the show. HAIM are a band he’s heard Y/N play before, he’s surprised how many words he knows just from being around her. They’re amazing and he knows that because they’re on the tour now, that means their song with Taylor has been added to the setlist. He really likes that one, even if it is about premeditated murder.
He knows the setlist like the back of his hand. It starts with Lover, the intro is a remix of all her eras names over top of the song Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince, the dancers wear these big sheets of fabric, peacocking around the stage and then they cover the middle of the main diamond stage. Once they lift the sheets back up, however, Taylor emerges onto the stage and the crowd goes wild.
He’s seen the show on Tiktok live so many times that he’s okay with missing it in person, instead, he watches her. He watches the way she stares at Taylor like she hung the stars and the moon herself. Like she’s some sort of god and everyone here is blessed to be in her presence. She cries, shaking her head in disbelief, she chants the words back to her and doesn’t even realize Spencer has been staring at her the whole time.
“Look how close she is,” Y/N bumps his shoulder and points. “She’s literally right there.”
“I know,” he smiles, so in love with her he couldn’t even pay attention to Taylor.
When Cruel Summer starts, she screams so loud, Spencer’s sure she’s going to lose her voice tomorrow. He finally starts paying attention to the show now. Singing along, he knows all the words. He actually really loves this song. And the man. He loves everything from Lover simply because he’s so deeply, deeply in love.
Post-lover, Taylor heads in for a costume change and thats when Spencer starts to feel anxious. He’s 2 songs away from his big moment. He checks his pockets, he still has the ring, in its box staying safe, it’s right there and ready to go. He almost blacks out for most of Fearless, he snaps back into it for You Belong With Me and the first note to Love Story gets his heart beat racing a million miles a minute.
He looks back at the girl behind him who has her phone out already she smiles at him, nodding like she’s ready to go and he takes a deep breath. Taylors walking down the catwalk, she’s going to be literally right in front of them when he gets down on one knee… he doesn’t think she’s seen a proposal this close and in person yet on this tour? Maybe she’ll notice them?
He sings along, genuinely loving the song and it steadies him a little. Y/N is singing too, jumping up and down and pointing at Taylor during all the best parts. She’s having the time of her life… she has no idea what’s coming.
The second chorus comes and he reaches into his pocket, he’s holding the box in his hand and his heart is in his throat.
“And I got tired of waiting… wondering if you were ever coming around, my faith in you was fading! When I met you on the outskirts of town!” Y/N sings along. “And I said Romeo save me I’ve been feeling so alone I keep waiting for you but you never come is this in my head I don’t know what to think, he kneels to the ground and pulled out a ring and—
She notices then that he’s dropped to one knee, following the song, he holds open the little black box and she screams. Everyone in their section is screaming. “Marry me, Juliet, you’ll never have to be alone I love you and that’s all I really know!” Spencer sings along to the song.
She’s frozen, can’t believe this is happening and real but she looks at the ring and then at him, her eyes full of tears. “Yes!!! Yes, I’ll marry you!!” She gets down to the ground with him and pulls him into a kiss, he smiles into it, happier than he’s ever been in his whole life.
When she pulls back he takes the ring from the box and slides it onto her ring finger. He helps her back to her feet and all she can do is stare at it. “Holy shit?”
“I love you!” He shouts, loud enough for everyone to hear. “I want to love you forever.”
She pulls him into another hug, not even noticing that Taylor did see it. She pointed at them, she got excited and there was footage of it from a million different angles that she’ll get to see later. She finishes the song, running back to make her mark and then she disappears once again to get ready for Evermore.
Y/N snuggles into his side, her left hand resting on his chest, she keeps pulling her hand back to look at it. There’s just enough quiet between eras that she asks, “Where did you get it? It’s beautiful.”
“Etsy,” he says with a smile. “It was on my doorstep the other day when you came over.”
“No way?” She laughs, “how long have you been planning this?”
“Since I asked you how you felt about getting married one day,” he admits.
She stands on her tiptoes and leans in for another kiss, “I Love you.”
“I love you,” he reminds her. “Forever and always… but I actually mean that.”
She laughs, “god, you really are the number 1 fearless stan, aren’t you?”
He’s about to reply when the girls behind him poke him in the back, “Hey!” They both turn around. “I texted you the video and my friend got the other angle of Taylor's reaction!”
“She saw it?!” Y/N freaks out.
They nod, freaking out with her, “Yeah!! She pointed at you guys and she was so happy!!”
“Holy shit!” Y/N shouts for the second time. “This is the best day of my fucking life, how does it keep getting better?”
“I don’t know man, but congrats!” The girl says. “You guys are so cute together.”
“Thank you,” they say at the same time.
She looks at him this time like he hung the stars. If you told him just 4 months ago that he’d find the love of his life and get engaged to her at a Taylor Swift concert of all places, he would’ve laughed… now he can’t imagine his life going any other way.
This is where he was always supposed to be.

I have a wild theory regarding Alastor. Here goes:
I don't think Lillith owns Alastor's soul. Instead, I think it belongs to Roo.
Tumblr media
^ This bitch.
We know that Alastor and Lillith have both been missing for 7 years. But if Alastor is back, why isn't Lillith? She should be just as, if not more powerful.
Additionally, Lillith owning Alastor's soul doesn't explain the absence. And if Alastor can, among other things, say "Fuck you" to Lucifer's face, why would Lillith be any different?
For Alastor to be "on a leash" as it were, the person holding it would have to be in a whole other tier of powerful.
Enter Roo, stage left. We don't know much about her. Vivzie has said that she's a "looming threat in the distance", and that Roo is the character she's most excited to get to, but that it'll be a long time before thathappens(courtesy of the wiki). So she'll likely be an antagonist down the line, and a big one at that.
Other than that, her design is very evocative of the Eldritch and Lovecraftian, which is a kind of power we haven't seen in the show thus far. Her design is also visually distinct from anything else, which implies that Roo herself is a very different kind of creature.
On a final note, her design does feature chains. Though they are bound to her body, there's a possibility that she keeps others in metaphorical chains. But that's a footnote.
So! I propose that seven years ago, Roo captured Alastor and either captured Lillith or killed her, which would explain why she's still missing. I'm speculating that Roo sent Alastor back out into Hell for... some reason, I'm not really sure. Maybe to ensure the hotel's safety? Maybe it has something to do with a ritual or something.
Yeah, it's quite the stretch, but I like it.

Malleus D. (classic kisses)
“Are you afraid of me?”
It's a question Malleus loves to ask.
He doesn't get tired of your head movement when you look at him from under your lashes or the way you pout at him. Your answer hasn't changed since the first time he asked you. You don’t think it would ever change. You can’t imagine a situation that would make you fear him.
“No,” you reply, looking into his emerald eyes. These glow with delight, after that one word. “Why do you keep asking this, Malleus?”
A cold wind blows through your hair, and you look at the tree branches moving in the distance. Even from the roof, they seem tall, but they are all surpassed by the moon, which was high in the sky. It shines brightly, giving you and Malleus picturesque shadows.
His hair seems to have silver flashes as he puts a hand to his chin and ponders.
“It’s very intriguing,” he says, laughing in his low voice. He narrows his eyes smugly and takes a step closer to you. You have to raise your head slightly to continue looking into his eyes. He smiles. “Not many people would dare say that to my face. Or is it just extraordinary bravado or thoughtlessness?”
“You're much harder to be afraid of since I met Gao-gao kun,'' you admit, lowering your gaze. You feel the weight of Malleus' hand gently trailing your hair. “And since you always come to my invitations... You know, you are a nice person. Sometimes old-fashioned, but it’s cool.”
Malleus laughs again.
“If not courage, then it's an enchantment,” he says in such a way that you don’t know if you should explain yourself to him. “Could it be that you have cast some spell on me that I don't know about?”
It is otherwise impossible for you to be so charming.
Yet you stand before him and he wants to keep you by his side. He would not have given you up for anyone else.
His hand find its way to your chin and gently lift your head. You have a full view of Malleus, who is smiling — although, when you think of it now, you had seen him happier and happier more often over the past few months.
You are only partly prepared for the moment when he leans over and kisses you.
Malleus hadn't had many opportunities to make friends and much fewer chances to meet potential lovers.
He shouldn't be able to kiss so well.
He is a quick learner. If you asked him how it was that (to his blunt satisfaction) every kiss takes the breath out of you, he would have replied that the secret lays in analysis and observation and that every time he bites your lip is another attempt to reach perfection.
Malleus likes to keep you close to him. You appreciate it, especially on cold evenings. Finally, he slides his fingers down until they stop at your back. He put his arms around you; Malleus himself isn’t warm to the touch, but you like to think that you are warmed by him and not by the clothes that protect you from the cold wind.
“Hm... Do you think I would be able to cast an enchantment spell on you?”
“Who knows? You are a great surprise, [Name]. Although I believe your charm is natural.”

Lilia V. (sneaky kisses)
Is there anything more exciting than knowing that someone is about to kiss you?
According to Lilia, there is such a thing, and it is the awareness that only you of the two people needed for the kiss, know that it will happen in seconds.
But you need to be sneaky to do so. The way you approach the person is the best part, second only to the action itself.
You wouldn't have spotted him near the ceiling even if you were alert. He is hiding on the chandeliers, shielded by numerous candles in case, you were going to look dreamily at the top of the room. You wouldn't have heard the sound of his heels against the wall, which he gracefully pushed away from as you turned into the next corridor.
And finally, you wouldn't have expected him as you stand in front of the door of your room, when your boyfriend falls from the sky, blocking your passage so quickly as if he was a malicious mirage. His hallucination — of a warm breath and a steadying hand on your cheek — moves close to you.
You don’t have time to blink, let alone catch your breath - Lilia knows this. But he isn't going to sabotage you with a lack of breath; instead, he bites your lip. You gasp, realizing who is before you.
After that, he doesn’t receive any gesture or a sound, from you; you stand straight, with your arms down at your sides, waiting for Lilia to move away. You give him the blankest stare you can afford.
“Aw, what a lack of response!” He comments on your attitude with a laugh.
You cross your arms over your chest and sigh quietly.
“You’re tempting me to not give it to you.”
Lilia giggles again. He finally lets you through the door and follows you into your room. You put your book bag down by a desk and lay down on your bed.
“Fufu~ No need to be so cold~,” Lilia says cheerfully, sitting down next to you. His feet don’t touch the ground and he lightly flutters them in the air. He finally lays down next to you, hugging you from behind. “You have to face the fact that there will now be more attempts to finally get the reaction I want from you.”
“Is this revenge for a failed, filled with-no-unpredictability kiss?”
“Keep telling that to yourself.”

Silver (corner kisses)
“You don't have to get up.”
“No, I... I promised to spend this afternoon with you... So I shouldn't be sleeping now....”
You laugh softly as you run your fingers through his hair and watch it flow seamlessly through your hands. The strands fall with a grace of fluff, and Silver, along with them, descended again from his semi-reclining position onto the grass. You lay down next to him, smelling the pungent scent of the grass, which was surprisingly not prickly.
“Napping together is also a type of date,” you whisper.
“Hmm? Ah...” He sighs quietly. Silver raises his hand to touch a strand of your hair, and uses his fingertips to caress your cheek. You smile, and Silver wants to be fully awake now more than before. “You should be more demanding.”
You laugh quietly.
“Someday I will and you will regret those words.”
“I don't believe it,” he replies smoothly, rolling gently to the side. He reached into his bag, which was lying under the tree. “What time is it? ...We have another class in half an hour.”
“I'll wake you up,” you promise, watching Silver's weariness set in again; you had already learned to recognise it: how his eyes squinted softly, the timbre of his voice lowered by half a tone and he seemed even more fairy-tale than usual. “...I can even wake you up with a kiss if you want to. Like in that book we read recently.”
Silver nodded.
“Sure…” He finally takes his eyes off you and closes them. You would have been sure he is already asleep, in those few seconds, until he speaks up again. “...But do we have to wait until after I fall asleep?”
You chuckle in agreement.
“Who knows, maybe you're already dreaming,” you lean over him. “And you're talking to me in your sleep... Silver, are you asleep?”
“...Yes.”
You don’t feel that this kiss is stiff when you press your lips to his. Maybe because you are already used to sleepy kisses, or maybe because Silver's skin is very soft and warm.
You are also convinced that the kiss is reciprocated — who knows, maybe even extended by him. Before you can lean back, Silver lifts his hands and intertwines them behind your head. With a gentle movement, he brings you even closer to him and places a slow kiss on the corner of your mouth.
He smiles as you lightly brush back his fringe.
And then he closes his eyes, his hands slowly dropping to the grass. Traces of the smile remain on his face.
As well as on yours.
“I'll wake you up in twenty minutes, then…~”

Sebek (how does one kiss what)
Sebek looks like a gentleman, but he's one only in half.
His gallantry disappears when he is upset or frustrated — you can easily press both buttons by standing too close to him and asking him for a kiss. Whether you tap your cheek on the signal or ask for it verbally, his composure will break down.
“N... No! What are you thinking!?”
You don't have to be very observant to notice how his voice breaks at his protests and his face heats up.
“Please...? Please very much? One kiss?” You are far too close. Your hands found their way to the nape of his neck, where you lightly hang on to pull him closer. He gasps quietly as soon as he notices that he couldn't resist the gesture. His hands refuse to obey him as he tries to lift them. Were all the forces of nature now working in favour of his annoying human?
“Ugh!! Just one!” He huffs as if this agreement made a stain on his honour. You smile broadly, and the bold gaze told him that you would have taken a kiss from him even without permission.
If he had initiated the kiss, it would certainly have been gentler; every time (with a kind of distaste, he notices that) he feels the need to hold you close, the thought of human frailty crosses his mind. Sebek knows you are strong. But it's really hard for him to remember that when you're short of breath and your knees are bowed by the strength of the hand that's on your back pulling you towards him.
Today you are the brave one. Sebek doesn't know how to behave when you're the one taking control, so he just stands motionlessly and fairly tries to reciprocate the kiss. Under your lips, you could feel the stiffness of his lips slowly starting to engage in the action.
When you finally notice that glint in his eye and the returning seriousness on his face, and his embrace stabilises, you know it's time to pull away. This is the moment when he starts to enjoy the kiss, but you can't stop the urge to break the kiss and confront him with a difficult choice: shall he beg his favourite human not to pull away, stand on his own with the use of force or magic or pretend carelessness?
That evening, he will surely try to ask you for a kiss.
You can't wait to tease him about it.
“Thank you very much!” You say, turning hastily from him. The big clock on the wall shows that you still have plenty of time before the next class, but you decide to say goodbye to Sebek and run away from him before he regains his full self-control.
If he does that, teasing him later won’t be as fun.
Your lips twitch as you take your sit.
Now you're just waiting for him to come to you himself.

okay so, i can explain!! it’s 1 am and i completely read this incorrectly, so it’s about the reader finding a picture of herself in his wallet because i’m an idiot! i was going to scrap it but i am just proud of myself for actually completing a blurb without giving up
so, i will be writing the actual request tomorrow because it’s so cute and adorable and makes a lot more sense than this and i can’t WAIT write it because 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 so fluffy man 🫶 but until then, enjoy this piece of work i am writing while very woozy on strong pain meds that ultimately makes zero sense! (posting this on mobile too because my dedication the craft is not enough for me to look for my laptop charger soz queens xxx)
“Have you seen my purse anywhere, Roos?” Your eyes dart around the living room, trying to retrace your steps.
“No, why d’you need it?” He shakes his head, glancing over at you from where he had collapsed on the couch.
“Uh, I need to go to the grocery store. I think a 6”1, 200 pound Navy fighter pilot raided my refrigerator.” You quip, smiling snarkily at the man in question. He grins as his eyes scan over your form, letting out a little appreciative hum.
You’re wearing that pretty little sun dress that drives him crazy, and he can’t say he doesn’t enjoy the way it accentuates the curve of your ass as you get on all fours on the floor, leaning down to check for your purse under the couch. You wouldn’t be surprised where it ended up, Bradley had an annoying tendency to just kick things on the floor out of his path; especially if he had been making a bee line for the couch, then he definitely wouldn’t pause to pick it up.
“What are you humming at, perv?” You question as you stand back up, rounding the couch so you were standing behind it, eyes once again scanning the room for the missing purse as you let out an aggravated scoff.
He laughs vehemently, his head tilting back against the back of the couch until he’s peering up at you from where you stand behind him. “Oh, just my breathtakingly beautiful wife.”
You scoff, a manicured hand coming down to absentmindedly play with his mess of curls as you tried to track down your purse. This will bug her all day, Rooster thought to himself, as he watched you scan the entire room over and over again.
“Wife?” You grinned. “Did I miss the wedding?”
He laughs again, your witticisms humouring him greatly, grabbing the hand knotted into his hair and bringing it down to his lips, pressing a kiss to the soft skin just below where your pretty engagement ring lay on your finger.
“Formalities, honey.” He tuts, and another hum slips from his lips as you bend down to press a soft kiss to his rosy lips. His mustache tickles your chin, your kiss slightly awkward, seeing as your face was leaning over his slightly uncomfortably.
His arm reaches up, hand knotting into your hair to keep you close to him as his soft lips work against your even softer ones. Your nose brushes against his chin as you reluctantly pull away, the ache in your lower back growing more and more every second you keep yourself in the awkward position.
You wipe at your mouth, giggling as you bring your thumb down to wipe at his chin. “You got a little gloss…. everywhere, Roos.”
He chuckles, wiping at his skin. “You can bring my credit card, if you want. I think it’s in my jacket pocket. I’ll look for your purse when you’re gone.”
You hum, annoyed at the fact your purse was still missing, but thankful for your fiancés generous nature. You squeeze at his muscular shoulder, before you’re walking into the hall to grab the wallet out of his coat pocket. “Thanks, baby; you’re a godsend. I’ll transfer you the money later.”
He sends you an incredulous look once you come back into the living room. “Don’t worry about it, sweetheart. Pretty sure it’s my turn to go grocery shopping anyway, you need to stop doing my share of the chores for me.”
You chuckle, gasping dramatically before you open up his worn, leather wallet to grab his card. “What? And have my big strong fighter pilot fiancé be burdened with tedious household tasks that should be for civilians only? I would never!”
He shakes his head, having grown accustomed to your sarcastic remarks throughout your relationship, and anyway, you both know that he’s undoubtedly going to be the one making dinner and doing the dishes tonight.
“By the way, I feel like we should address the fact you’re totally sugar daddying me right now? I know it’s only groceries, but it’s still kind of hot.” You chide.
He mumbles something about how you have serious issues, and you're about to shoot him a quippy remark in response, until your breath gets stuck in your throat. Stowed away in the transparent pocket on the left hand side of his wallet, are two small pictures. One of his mum and dad, smiling happily at the camera; and another one of you.
You didn’t even know he’d taken the picture; you were on the beach, in the middle of laughing, probably at something he’d said, eyes looking over the camera, filled with nothing but love; so you were definitely staring at him. The picture had been folded at the edges so it would fit snugly into the pocket. Your heart melts, looking up from the wallet to stare at your fiancé.
He could feel your eyes on him, but his eyes didn’t move from the television; not thinking much of your gaze. “If you found the picture of me and my second family, I can explain.”
You don’t even laugh at his joke. You just clamber onto the sofa, your legs either side of his lap as you wrap your arms around his shoulders, pulling him in tight to you. Ultimately, you don’t really know why you’re so touched by the picture. You’re engaged, it’s not overly unique to have a picture of your fiancée in your wallet. However, when you saw the photo, you just couldn’t shake the overwhelming feeling of being totally completely adored and cherished by the love of your life. You felt so much love for the man, while you also felt incredibly loved by the man. “Hey, what’s all this about; you okay, baby?”
You nod, cupping his face into your hands as you shoot him one of the prettiest smiles he’s ever seen. “I love you. So much. You know that, right?”
He nods, a bemused grin painting his face as he laughs. He is completely lost, unsure of where this all came from, but he graciously accepts it anyway. “I know, honey. I love you too.”

A Boston shelter tried a new approach to finding women stable housing. Three years later, its success is clear.
Since launching its stabilization program in July 2020, Women’s Lunch Place says that 97 percent of women who found housing are still living in their homes.

Two years ago, Nancy Edwards fell into homelessness after being priced out of rent in Southern California. With her two dogs, Roo and Tink, in tow, she decided to drive across the country with all her belongings packed in her small sedan. Her final destination would be Boston, the home of her only child and the last place she says she received adequate mental health care.
She arrived in Boston in September 2021, and later that month met Lianne O’Reilly, a behavioral health and stabilization clinician at Women’s Lunch Place, a daytime shelter and advocacy center serving people who identify as female.
With help from O’Reilly and Women’s Lunch Place, Edwards, 65, was able to receive the mental health care she needed and took the first steps in applying for housing in the city.
“I was able to make heads or tails out of life and rescue myself from being homeless,” Edwards said.
Edwards is one of 173 clients who Women’s Lunch Place has helped to secure housing since the organization launched its housing stabilization program in July 2020. Three years later, the organizaton reports that 97 percent, or 167, of the women are still living in their new homes.
At Pine Street Inn shelter, a mother and daughter persevere and find communityNew housing strategy behind Mass. and Cass cleanup offers ‘hope, dignity’ — and may be a solution to homelessness, officials say‘Permanent supportive housing’ may be controversial to would-be neighbors, but it’s been beneficial to those who live in it
Located on Newbury Street in Back Bay, the stabilization program is designed to provide clients at Women’s Lunch Place with wraparound services before and after they receive keys for an apartment, said Doris Romero, the center’s housing and stabilization manager. Often times, women who walk through the doors have a steep learning curve when living on their own and can be evicted if they do not have continuous support.
“The last thing that I want is after getting someone into housing is for them to lose their housing,” Romero said.
Romero facilitates conversations with landlords, property managers, leasing officers, and even other tenants to ease the burden on clients. Each woman seeking housing is paired with a full-time advocate from the organization, and the team has doubled in size since its inception, she added.
For some, the housing search can take years, with some guests only moving into homes now after originally starting a housing application five years ago, said Romero. Other times, partnerships and applications with the city can speed up the process for those who really need housing. For instance, Edwards submitted an application to the Elders Living At Home Program through Boston Medical Center.
“In the application you have to explain why this person needs housing, and as soon as I met [Edwards,] I knew that housing was really key to her stability and moving forward,” O’Reilly said.
As a result, Edwards moved in to her new home about seven months after connecting with Women’s Lunch Place.
“It’s nice and quiet and I feel secure,” Edwards said on a recent Friday in her one-bedroom apartment in the South End.

While stabilization programs are not necessarily a new invention, Women’s Lunch Place’s method of keeping tabs on and tracking women it helps find housing is encouraging, because it shows “obvious and dramatic evidence that it works,” said Susan Sered, professor of sociology at Suffolk University.
For the past 15 years, Sered has been following a group of about 50 women in Boston who fall in and out of homelessness. In her research, she has seen women lose housing because of substandard living conditions or abusive men in their life who visit homes and cause trouble — issues that can often be prevented with robust stabilization services.
“A lot of these problems are dealt with before they get out of control,” she said of the system in place at Women’s Lunch Place. “They can provide this kind of really intensive support that can help people get through that difficult period or a difficult incident and hold on to their housing.”
Romero said she poses as many questions as possible to find a strong fit for each individual client.
“Do they want to stay in Boston? Do they want roommates or their own space?”
However, even though the program is run through the shelter, women who seek the stabilization services have their own agency throughout the process, choosing where, when, and what they apply to.
“We can provide them options of different opportunities, but they get to choose where they want to apply to,” Romero said.
Most of the clients would prefer to stay in Boston, Romero said, but that doesn’t always work out. Sometimes, after looking at options in Boston, she encourages clients to look elsewhere, such as the North or South Shore, to set realistic expectations. Romero added that the center has had luck stabilizing people in Medford and Watertown homes.
The stabilization program is unique since it doesn’t end once women get the keys to their new place.
“People really assume like everything’s like sunshine and flowers once you get housed,” O’Reilly said. “And it can be, but for a lot of people it can be traumatic in many ways.”
The length of stabilization looks different for each client, Romero said. Advocates visit the homes of their clients as much as they need to help with everything from setting up cable to finding a church community nearby.
Women’s Lunch Place also assists clients facing possible eviction — a vital component of stabilization services, staff members say.
Estella Green, 55, credits the program for her finding stable housing and avoiding eviction after she had been sleeping on the streets or couch surfing for almost three years.
“I was in a place where I was about to go downhill, but I came here and I asked for help and they helped me,” Green said.
With help from her advocate, Christina Labossiere, Green has lived in a one-bedroom apartment in Brighton for more than two years. Since March, the organization has assisted Green in applying to the city’s Residential Assistance for Families in Transition program, which helps keep households in stable housing situations when facing eviction, loss of utilities, and other housing emergencies.
Green said she loves the apartment, especially the bed to sleep in, but still comes to Women’s Lunch Place almost daily because that — not Brighton — is her community.
“You can relax, be comfortable, and you can always find someone to talk to,” Green said.
