What do you think of Sansa’s line “my father and I have other concerns” when she and Maester Colemon are talking about giving Sweetrobin sweet milk. Maester Colemon objects to Sansa’s demand that SR be given sweetmilk again when going down the mountain. She’s pretty adamant about SR sweetmilk even as Maester Colemon shows concerns about nosebleeds. Many have theorised this as Sansa knowingly poisoning SR and has been touted as the Sansa = villain (🙄) theory by the antis pretty steadfastly. Does Sansa know about poisoning SR? What other concerns do she and LF have? Is she actually poisoning SR or is she just irritated with him and wants him to shut up?

Neither. She's genuinely concerned with Sweetrobin's future as Lord of the Vale, after GRRM has taken care to insert not one but two shaking fits into the previous chapters that leave him incapacitated and soiled, and which are generally treated with "medicine" just as harsh or worse, like high level narcotics, alcohol or leeching and bleeding. .

This stuff is rightfully seen as an improvement. He's awake, calm, not losing blood or ingesting addictive substances.

And while he hedges and mutters, Colemon never comes right out and states "It could kill him". He lets a distracted Alayne cut him off or trails off by himself. And he eventually relents, giving the appearance that his concerns are not that serious.

And Alayne is rightfully distracted. After a peacefully resolved siege against the rule of Littlefinger (guardian of Sweetrobin), they are coming down to spend the winter with Lord Nestor, accessible to the Vale lords (his future subjects who need to respect him) for the first time in a long time. And the descent itself is also very dangerous, as we will be shown.

“The Lord of the Eyrie cannot descend from his mountain tied up like a sack of barleycorn.” Of that Alayne was certain. They dare not let the full extent of Robert’s frailty and cowardice become too widely known, her father had warned her. [...] “It was too soon. My lady, you do not understand. As I’ve told the Lord Protector, a pinch of sweetsleep will prevent the shaking, but it does not leave the flesh, and in time …” “Time will not matter if his lordship has a shaking fit and falls off the mountain. If my father were here, I know he would tell you to keep Lord Robert calm at all costs.” “I try, my lady, yet his fits grow ever more violent, and his blood is so thin I dare not leech him any more. Sweetsleep … you are certain he was not bleeding from the nose?” [...] “Very well.” They paused at the foot of the stairs. “But this must be the last. For half a year, or longer.” “You had best take that up with the Lord Protector.” She pushed through the door and crossed the yard. Colemon only wanted the best for his charge, Alayne knew, but what was best for Robert the boy and what was best for Lord Arryn were not always the same. Petyr had said as much, and it was true. Maester Colemon cares only for the boy, though. Father and I have larger concerns.

That's his future she is trying to protect. Not to mention, this is before she ever learns about Harry the Heir. Why on earth would she support poisoning him, when Littlefinger's protection of her depends on his role as Sweetrobin's guardian?

This is the same Sansa that is planning his new bodyguard crew in her TWOW sample chapter, who considers what his future wife will love about him, the same Sansa whose gentle care even Colemon acknowledges helps Sweetrobin calm himself without medicine. No, she is not knowingly poisoning the kid.

(Also, Maester Colemon may well be playing his own game, giving him antidotes or refusing to administer doses, depending on how you want to interpret the fact that Sweetrobin still suffers a shaking spell on the mountain, and the "vile" substance mixed into his milk without explanation.)

"Was Elia Martell Beautiful"

It must have been the madness that led Aerys to refuse Lord Tywin's daughter and take his son instead, whilst marrying his own son to a feeble Dornish princess with black eyes and a flat chest. (Cersei, chapter 24 of “A Feast for Crows”)

Here is a character who Take romantic desires for the Dragon Prince, which is rejected and chosen elia instead of her to be his wife. even after her death, Cersei still holds the grudge

But somehow this quote is taken as canon, This is illogical. Depending on Cersei's personality, I can say that she is either lying or exaggerating

Well, here comes my problem. This quote is often taken to say that elia was less than ordinary but she was not beautiful or on the list of beauties of Westeros.

((As a reminder, I am against evaluating women based on their beauty but I am trying to clarify my point))

This list of beauties contains women who were rated less beautiful than elia according to the books. However, elia is ignored in such rankings. Common reasons are the health condition and this quote.

Even when you search on Google, this quote is the most common answer to questions about what elia looked like.

And then you find this :

there wereothers fairerstill.One was the wife of the dragon prince, who’d brought a dozen lady companions to attend her. The knights all begged them for favors to tie about their lances. (Bran, chapter 24 of “A Storm Of Swords”)

Howland Reed is one of the characters who doesn't have any direct ties to elia, So through this quote, Holland describes elia martell's appearance during the Tourney of Harrenhal, probably she was pregnant with Aegon. From this we confirms she was beautiful enough to get all of his attention, despite the presence of many beautiful women during the tourney, most notably Ashara Dayne. elia was beautiful for him to tell his children about her beauty.

In “The World of Ice and Fire”, Maester Yandel compares Lyanna to Elia, stating the she-wolf was "a wild and boyish young thing with none of the Princess Elia's delicate beauty"

This princess is elia, and she is very beautiful. Where men don't take pride in kissing an ugly woman if she was ugly he would make fun of her appearance and show remorse or disgust. Instead, we get a proud, unrepentant man.

Elia is described in the books as an attractive woman who caught men’s attention. (It seems she doesn't look ugly or ordinary woman)

Ashara Dayne was known as the most beautiful woman in Westeros so being compared to ashara is just another factor that shows how beautiful elia was

She get called "delicate beauty", Sansa Stark beauty called the same. and sansa is beautiful so elia was.

According to all this, elia was extremely beautiful. It is unfortunate that her beauty is belittled and ignored under the pretext of her health condition. condemning the actions of some women is not misogyny, but belittling a woman because of her health condition and using it as an excuse to exonerate her husband’s abandonment of her is certainly hatred and racism.

And saying that rhaegar left elia and chose lyanna over her because she was more beautiful is just a slander that contradicts the facts It based on an idea invented by men to justify his betrayal We have a perfect example of this "Charles chose Camilla over Diana"

Actually, I did consider it once! I considered it in like 2022, and the only GOT character I ever wrote several things for was Bran Stark.

I haven’t watched all the show honestly, only the first eight episodes, and I never felt fully sure of wanting to write for the characters of GOT, so I just wrote for Bran & then I began writing more for HOTD because it makes me feel more comfortable!

I could try writing again for Bran,, I forgot lots of things about GOT HAHSJJD but I could give it another chance! For the rest of the characters of the series, I’m not so sure I’ll write for them— hope this isn’t disappointing, my love! 😭🙏

Tenel Ka Chume Ta' Djo Fancasting Resource

Tenel Ka is a "fierce-looking girl" with long, "braided red-gold", "rusty-brown", or "sunset-copper hair", sometimes "in a multitude of ceremonial braids, each decorated with feathers or beads". She has "large, cool gray eyes" and fair skin. She was born sometime between 8-10 ABY, so we don't know her exact age during these events, just a range. Tenel Ka is described as an "Amazonian" and "muscular" girl who is usually "dressed like other women from Dathomir, in a brief athletic outfit made from scarlet and emerald skins of native reptiles. The flexible, lightly armored tunic and shorts left her arms and legs bare." She is also missing her left arm at the elbow and down and does not get a prosthetic.

~13-17 (Jedi Training)

~15-21 (Yuuzhan Vong War)

~25-28 (Dark Nest Crisis, she is 26-28 when she leaves the Jedi Order)

~30-33 (Second Galactic Civil War)

Note: I’m trying to pick actors who have usable footage, mainly where the attire wouldn’t be out of place in the GFFA, so bear that in mind. Movies/shows generally film for a year prior to release, so that's how I'm calculating age.

Misc Child Actresses

These are a few options for a young Tenel Ka that don't have a ton of footage and are hard to find ages for. Ellie Darcey-Aiden (left) in Robin Hood (season 3 episode 1) and possibly also in Borgia (season 2 episodes 11 and 12). Layla Burns (left-center) in Outlander (2014). Madeline Power (right-center) in The Last Kingdom (season 1 episodes 1 and 7) and Six Wives (season 1 episode 3). Clare Foley (right) on Gotham (she was on from 2014-2015) and she would've been 13-14.

Sophie Turner - Sansa Stark - Game of Thrones (2011-2019)

She was 14 during the filming of the first season, so good for her time at the Jedi Praxeum. Later seasons would work for the Yuuzhan Vong War. Her eyes are more hazel than gray, but she does have long sunset-copper hair. A lot of her clothes are fantasy royalty attire, but some suit Tenel Ka better than others.

Sadie Stanley - Kim Possible - Kim Possible (2019)

She was 17-18 during filming. She wears mostly modern clothes, but the main Kim Possible outfit is OK along with closeups. Her eyes aren't gray, but her hair is a nice copper-red.

Sophie Skelton - Brianna "Bree" Fraser MacKenzie - Outlander (2014-)

She joined the show in its second season, being 21-22 during filming, so good for the end of the Yuuzhan Vong War. Her eyes aren't gray, but her hair is sunset-copper that looks like Tenel Ka's when worn loose. Her clothes don't all work for the GFFA, but if you pick scenes where she wears muted attire/colors or closeups, it can work.

Katherine McNamara - Clary Fairchild - Shadowhunters (2016-2019)

She was ~20-24 during the filming of the show so good for the end and right after the Yuuzhan Vong War. Her eyes are pale green instead of gray, but she has red-gold colored hair. She isn't super muscular, but does have some nice fight scenes in the show.

Ceara Coveney - Elayne Trakand - Wheel of Time (2023-)

She was around 23 during the filming of season 2 when her character first appears. She has sunset-copper hair, but doesn't have gray eyes. She wears her hair long mainly, but her plain white outfit is good for the GFFA. She has large eyes and fair skin.

Ellie Bamber - Elora Danan - Willow (2022-2023)

She was ~24-25 during filming. She's blonde for some of the show, but there's at least one episode of her with red hair that works great for Tenel Ka. Her hair is long and red-gold in color. Her eyes aren't gray, but they are big.

Anna Demetriou - Princess Helle of Volsung - Viking Destiny (2018)

At ~25 during filming, she works great for right before Dark Nest. She has large, cool gray eyes and long, rusty red hair. She wears Viking clothes, most of which would work great. She even has a fishtail (?) braid in at least one scene. She is fierce-looking as well.

Amy Wren - Mildrith - The Last Kingdom (2015)

She was 25 during filming. She also has a baby in at least one scene you could use as Allana. Her hair is copper colored, but she doesn't have gray eyes. Her clothes are also relatively nondescript and would be good for the GFFA.

Rose Leslie - Ygritte - Game of Thrones (2012–2014)

She was in her mid-late twenties throughout her time on the show. She has red hair, but doesn't have gray eyes. Her love interest in the show is played by dark-haired Kit Harrington, who you could use for Jacen if you wanted. Her clothes are acceptable for the GFFA and her body type is one of the closer ones to Tenel Ka on this list. She is also a very fierce character on the show.

Tamzin Merchant - Rhonu - Dragonheart 3 (2015)

She was likely 27 during filming, so good for Tenel Ka during the Dark Nest Crisis. She has copper red hair with braids. Her clothes also work great as the warrior attire Tenel Ka likes to wear. She doesn't have gray eyes however.

Felicia Day - Tallis - Dragon Age: Redemption (2011)

She was 32 for this web series and if you ignore the pointy ears, the look is great for Tenel Ka.

Felicia Day - Charlie Bradbury - Supernatural S8.E11 LARP and the Real Girl (2013)

At 33-34, she's good for the end of the Second Galactic Civil War. I picked this one specific episode because it's the only one I recall where she isn't wearing modern clothes. She has copper red hair worn loose, but does not have gray eyes.

Jessica Chastain - Sara - The Huntsman: Winters War (2016)

At 38-39, she's a bit older than we see Tenel Ka at, but her hair and clothes work so well I just had to include her. Her eyes aren't grey, but they are big. She also has a more muscular build and is a fierce warrior.

Have been thinking of reading the books for quite a while (and your art is definitely one of the motives for it), and was curious to know your opinion on them? Did you like it?

i 100% recommend asoiaf books!! listen i know the series is not finished and there’s a big chance it never will be but nevertheless it’s such a well crafted story and the characters are SO compelling and idk i just love grrm’s writing style! i find the book world just so much richer than the show — there’s so many fascinating details and super important plot points that were either ridiculously simplified or deleted by d & d……. i have a very special place in my heart for the show because i watched it before reading the books (i watched 6 seasons before reading to be precise) but the books are just simply better. they’re a lot more nuanced!

Father’s gentle hands

Summary: When Ned comes home to Winterfell he gets to feel a child of his kick for the first time.

I realised Ned never felt a baby kick in the womb until Sansa since he was away while Cat was pregnant with Robb and we all know what happened with Jon. So here’s early marriage nedcat fluff and Ned with his kids <33

Ned didn’t know why he felt a slight disappointment at that his wife didn’t meet him in the yard as he returned from Karhold. A moon’s turn he had been gone and though the weather had been unusually stable for that time of year in winter the trip had been no pleasure. Though why he had got through the journey home by imagining Catelyn meeting him as he rode through the gate he didn’t know.

Maybe because she was carrying his child. He had discovered so much happened in a moon’s turn when a woman was with child, surely he had missed something while he was away and he wanted to know what it was. It was the first time he paid so close attention to an unborn child, there seemed to be a lot he didn’t know.

He didn’t remember when his mother had carried his sister and younger brother, he hadn’t been there when Catelyn carried Robb. And Jon… well, he had come after it was all said and done.

“You wouldn’t know where Lady Catelyn is?” he asked the stable boy that took his horse as soon as he had his feet on the ground.

The boy shook his head.

“No, m’lord.”

Before Ned could say anything else a delighted yell could be heard and he turned to find his son running towards him. His absence hadn’t been as long as it felt like, but had Robb still not grown a little taller since Ned last saw him?

With a smile he scooped the boy up in his arms and held him up in the air.

“Father!” Robb squealed.

His little laugh was lovely. How Ned despised being away from home, how he despised not hearing Robb’s laugh for so long. His boy had the sunshine from the south and the north’s resilience.

“Robb!”

“You’re home!”

“Yes, I’m home.”

He put Robb back on the ground again, ruffled his mop of auburn hair with one hand.

“Did you do as I told you and kept the castle safe while I was away?” he asked.

Robb nodded, beaming. The pride would have been obvious from miles away.

“Me too!”

Only then did Jon make his presence known and Ned had to embrace him, as well. Ever the careful one, always a step behind his brother.

“My brave sons” he said as he ruffled Jon’s hair.

When he looked at them both there was a slight sting of sadness over that they could never truly be brothers. Not equal the way trueborn brothers were. Though as long as they were friends and there was no ill will between them he would be happy.

“Robb, do you know where your mother is?” he asked.

Now he had seen two of his children, he wanted to see the third. And he wanted to see Catelyn.

“The sept” Robb told him.

Idyn, the woman who most often attended to the boys, lengthened the answer a little.

“Lady Stark told me to bring your son to meet you as you arrived” she said. “She was busy.”

Ever since she found out she was with child Catelyn had prayed several times every day, and wouldn’t sway from that. It was most important to turn to the gods to keep the babe healthy, she had told him when he asked her.

“I’ll take the boys if you want to go to her, m’lord” Idyn then continued.

“That would be good, Idyn. Thank you.”

He would rather not set foot inside the sept though he could meet her outside.

Robb protested and wouldn’t agree to go with Idyn and Jon before Ned promised he would come to them afterwards. It was time for supper soon, he wanted nothing but to sup with his family after so long away from them.

So he made his way towards the sept. He was very rarely there, only when he needed Catelyn for something and she was there. He had been in there no more than twice since it was finished. That was her place, as the godswood was his. He needed not invade.

He felt like a fool when he stood there outside and did nothing but wait. People passed him, some looked like they wanted to ask what he was doing, but no one did. They just nodded towards him, said a polite greeting. Even though it wasn’t long he had to wait there it felt like an eternity.

Though all that was forgotten when the doors opened and Lady Catelyn stepped outside. The smile that lit up her face when she saw him made it all worth it.

“My lord” she said. “Do forgive me for not coming to you immediately, I was in the middle of my prayers.”

Just as he had suspected she had grown rounder since last he saw her, it was obvious even with all the clothing she wore to keep the cold off. It happened so quickly.

“There is nothing to forgive, my lady.”

She came to him and he got to lean down and kiss her cheek. The scent of her, of sweet flowers. He dared not embrace her, didn’t know if she wanted it, but as he straightened up again she took his hand, weaved their fingers together.

It made his heart flutter and he saw how a slight blush covered her cheeks.

“I’m happy to see you home” she said softly.

The sound of her voice was as lovely as she was.

“I’m happy to be home” he said to her.

If he had any luck there would be at least some time before he had to leave again.

“I believe our babe agrees.”

He didn’t have time to ask what she meant by that before she had moved his hand to rest against her stomach, putting her hand on top of it. And he felt a slight pressure against his palm from below it.

“It’s kicking” he said.

He heard himself how stupid it sounded when he said it with such wonder, but it was hard to care when he felt his child moving beneath his hand.

Never before had he felt a child of his moving before it was born. The world seemed to slow, he held his breath and his heart beat hard against his ribcage. When he thought of what he would return to during his travel he hadn’t even considered that. Yet it was as exciting, if not even more, as the rest of it. It was as if he had not truly realised he would have another child until then and there. He would once again be a father, his child was alive. It was there, kicking.

“It happened for the first time just a few days after you left, it’s stronger now” Catelyn told him.

The look on her face was as proud as Robb’s had been earlier.

Once again she weaved their fingers together, that time while his hand was splayed across her stomach. The kicking ceased and came to a stop, but the feeling in Ned’s chest didn’t do the same.

“Our child is strong” he said.

The feeling made his voice sound weird.

“It is” she agreed.

She looked at him and she looked so happy, her eyes sparkling. He must have been smiling back at her, it felt like he did.

When he kissed her she kissed him in return, raised a hand to his cheek. She was so soft, the mother of his children. Several children, two of them.

Her cheeks had turned even redder when they parted and she turned her face downwards. But she didn’t seem unhappy in any way, and her hand remained on his even as the child didn’t kick anymore.

“Every time I have felt it kick I have longed for when I would get to share it with you” she mumbled.

“Is that so?”

Catelyn had longed for him, longed to let him feel their child moving.

She glanced up at him, her eyes still gleaming.

“When I carried Robb you weren’t with me, now you are. I want to share what I can with you.”

“Now I’ll be here.”

He knew he couldn’t promise to always be there, that he wouldn’t have to leave again, but he also knew he wanted what she could share. He wanted to be there. With her and Robb and Jon and the child.

“I was going to eat a small something, would you keep me company?” she asked.

“That I would gladly do, I’m feeling a little hungry myself.”
