every sex scene in a movie is necessary, actually. we called for a vote on it while you were in the bathroom. yeah, even the people who were on the fence voted in favor of it because you were being a whiny child. and we don’t like you.

"On college campuses throughout America, however, feminism is mainstream. Courses in Women's Studies abound, and millions of impressionable women take them. But notice they don't call these classes Feminist Studies (which would be the accurate title) because the term women suggests that all women think alike—or should think alike. (That's also why the phrase 'women's movement' is preferred over 'feminist movement.') Yet Women's Studies classes do not appeal to most women—they are nothing more than feminist indoctrination. The professors teach that gender is not a fact of nature, or biologically determined, but a social or environmental construct created by old-fashioned stereotyped training. They consider it a given that women have been subordinated and discriminated against by an unjust male patriarchy and need government action by legislatures and courts to give women their rights."
-Phyllis Schlafly and Suzanne Venker
From The Flipside of Feminism, 2011

sports post has somehow hit 100k, and is also getting its most sustained wave of terf engagement. & viewing the urls and bios of roughly 50 terfs in a row via block whack a mole is really driving home that this is one of the most pathetic embarrassing circle jerks of a subculture on the planet

a weird thing that makes me very emotional is how there will be parts of my life that for whatever cultural reason seem like a universal experience to me, yet aren't to you guys. the childhood stories i grew up with, the songs that get played to specific events, the traditions that come and pass regularly. all the things that shape life and make us feel connected, yet so many of you don't know. idk it's beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time, how you don't have this valuable thing in your life yet have so many other things, that i don't even know about

— our little secret
summary: part 2 where your mother phyllis starts to catch on to you and alice.
pairing: alice macray x reader
word count: 1400
pt.1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After three weeks, Alice had finally asked you to officially be her girlfriend. That was only between the both of you but, it still felt nice to be official.
Today, you had came home a little later than anticipated. Alice took you out to dinner where she asked you, then back to her house to openly celebrate. It felt so surreal, all of it; finally being able to call the woman who you've had a crush on for years, your lover. Being able to grab her waist and kiss her like you've dreamt. You were so caught of in the moment, in Alice, that you forgot about your curfew.
As long as you were under your mothers roof, she gave you a curfew. It didn't matter that you were an adult, out of high school. If you were coming back to her house for the night, then you would be back when she wanted you to be.
So you were possibly a few hours late coming home. You tried to sneak in through the front door, hoping everyone would be asleep at two in the morning. But to your dismay, your mother stood right there, waiting for your 'sinful' presence.
"What are you doing home so late? Where have you been" Phyllis starts. You hated that she was about to ruin one of the best days you've had in awhile.
"I told you, mother. I was with Alice" Your mother could trust Alice, that's why you thought she would brush past that you've hardly been home.
"And is Alice still outside? I'd like to speak to her." If Alice was still outside, you would lie to your mother. You knew Alice wouldn't be able to cover this up. "No. She left when I made it inside."
You began your journey up the stairs. This conversation was wearing you out already.
"What is it with your fixation on Alice lately?" says Phyllis. She seems irritated but you could care less as you continue to walk up the stairs. You can feel her following you and you know from experience that her hands are on her hips
You would've stopped in your tracks but you just wanted to run away from everything that Phyllis was saying. "It's not a fixation. Alice is my friend."
"Your friend now, Is she?"
"What? Are you jealous?" you ask and turn to face your appalled looking mother. "Go to your room! Now!" Phyllis said, loud enough that greg rest of you family was most definitely awake now.
Although you wanted to seem bigger, you obeyed because you couldn't stand here without yelling much longer. "And don't think about going to Alice's house tomorrow! She's leaving without you after the meeting!"
____
"She said I can't go home with you today" you say, pouting. With your arms crossed to your chest, you looked like a small angry child. Alice couldn't suppress her giggle and a blush formed on your cheeks when you couldn't deny that the sound of her laughter did brighten your mood.
You were standing in the middle of your bedroom with Alice after she excused herself to use the restroom during the meetings. That's how she always snuck up to your room.
"Then you have to listen to her, baby. You don't want her to fully ban you from seeing me" she placed her warmed hands on your shoulders, causing them to un-tense.
"She's starting to catch on, Alice. Im so nervous. I don't want her to ruin everything. Do you know what'll happen if she were to find out?"
The older woman wrapped her arms around your entire frame and pulled you into a tight hug. You nuzzled your neck into the soft fabric on her chest and she kissed the top of your head before placing her chin on top of it. "I know. I'm a little worried too but you're stressing too much. I don't want this to be all you're thinking about. You're wearing yourself down over it."
You let out a muffled sigh. "How are you so calm about this?" You asked and pulled away to look into her brown eyes. "Because I know that we are meant to be so it'll all work out" you turned into melted butter at her words. The sun was beating down on you through the window and she could see just how red your cheeks have gotten. You hoped she thought it was just the heat, opposed her being able to get you so flustered.
She walked you over to your bed and pulled you onto her lap. You immediately melted into her. You were exhausted from staying up last night. Your mothers words kept repeating in your head, as if it were a song on full volume, it prevented you from sleeping and kept your mind dancing and dancing.
"I love you Alice. You make me feel so happy" the woman leaned down and pecked your lips that had been waiting for hers. "I love you, honey. I will forever and ever. Not matter what."
You looked back up at her, grinning. "Forever?" You asked. She nodded, smirking, matching your entire expression.
You twisted your body to straddle her waist. "And ever?" you asked again, she hummed against your lips that began to work on hers.
Her hands skimmed your waist but before she could get a good grip, you pushed her back by her shoulders. "Well you're in luck that i'll love you even more, forever and ever" She threaded her hands in your hair and pulled your closer. You completely missed and kissed her jawline instead but it seemed that she enjoyed it with the hummed that released, so you continued.
"Oh good lord!" You heard your mothers exaggerated gasp from the door way. You jumped off of Alice so fast that Phyllis had to blink twice to see if what she saw had been her mind playing games.
"What is going on here?" She looked angry, expectedly. But mostly at Alice. This was something that didn't surprise her too much with you, but with Alice...
"Phyllis" Alice said, her voice calming but only you would be able to distinguish the slight falter. She walked over to your mother, putting her hands on the woman's elbow. She had none of that, she pulled away faster than you did with Alice moments ago.
She looked at her as if she were a pig, running through the house after rolling in mud. You hated how she now stared at your Alice with such hatred.
"Mother!" you said but didn't bother to continue. You could already feel tears welling in your eyes and the lump forming in your throat. You could even feel Alice struggling to suppress the urge to hug you and tell you it's okay.
"How could you betray me like this, Alice? I'm beside myself. I'm disgusted." Phyllis said. And in this moment you realized, your mother never actually cared about you. She wanted this to happen to give her a reason to abandon you.
"Phyllis, if you just let me explain-"
"No. There is nothing to explain! I want y/n out of my house and I never want to see either of you again!" She said, before either of you could protest, she was out of your room. Slamming the door so hard, you thought it would come on the hinges.
"Fuck!" You screamed, startling your lover. You knew this would happen and you wouldn't doubt that Alice wouldn't want to be with you anymore. If Phyllis had finally given the woman a 'wake up call.'
"Baby" Alice said, walking towards you. You just dodged her and buried your head into your pillows. "It's okay" she cooed, her hand brushing away the hair that stuck to your tear stained face.
"It's not!" You said, more aggressive than anticipated "I have no where to go. My entire family thinks i'm a disgrace."
"Don't be silly" she laid beside you, your faces inches apart. It took you your all to not kiss her, you really didn't want another incident. "I would never leave you to the wolves. You can stay with me. And your family...if they can't accept you for who you are then don't let it bother you. You're not a disgrace, if you were then how would I love you this much? Think about it."
"Alice" you whimpered. More salty tears pooled down from your eyes. "Thank you. You really don't have to do this. I can find an apartment or something."
"No no no. I want you to stay with me. It would be lovely." You gave her a weak smile "Now go pack your bags honey. You're coming home with me."

3) Adam Smith vs. Karl Marx (theme: the father of capitalism against the father of communism)
4) Malcolm X vs. Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto (theme: militant activists, one real and the other fictional. Also, Magneto is often compared to Malcolm X)
5) Pelé vs. Tom Brady (theme: two of the greatest “football” players of all-time)
6) The Demon Slayer squad (Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, Inosuke Hashbira, Zenitsu Agatsuma) vs. The Scooby Gang (Buffy Summers, Willow Rosenberg, Xander Harris, Rupert Giles)

St. Louis brewery, Schlafly Beer, releases their newest variety pack, The Weekender.
Tumblr media
Press Release
ST. LOUIS, MO (May 15, 2023) — Schlafly Beer, the original, independent craft brewery in St. Louis, announces the release of a new variety pack, The Weekender. This pack includes a variety of crushable summer beers, thoughtfully bundled with fan favorites and new styles. The Weekender offers two exclusive brews – Hazy Getaway IPA and No Bounds Brown Ale – alongside Schlafly’s year-round Kolsch, and a seasonal favorite, Raspberry Hefeweizen. The 12-pack includes three 12-ounce cans each of the four beers.
“We wanted The Weekender to fully embody the fun and carefree nature of summer and to bring a pack that’s easy to take with you on summer getaways, camping trips, picnics, and trips to the beach. These beers offer a little something for everyone, for instance, Raspberry Hefeweizen is refreshing and fruity –  it’s a great beer for people who don’t think they like craft beer, and the Hazy Getaway IPA offers a lighter take on IPA’s at 110 calories while keeping the juicy hop flavor IPA’s are known for," says Schlafly CEO, Fran Caradonna. “With most of the beers ringing in under 5% ABV, it’s a sessionable selection for summer.”
The Weekender Variety Pack features three 12 oz. cans of each of the four beers, including:
Kolsch (ABV: 4.8%): Done properly and with distinction, this definitive golden ale is fermented with a yeast strain from Koln, Germany - where Kolsch originated. The result is a slightly dry and subtly malty brew with the delicate aroma of an ale and the clean finish of a lager.
No Bounds Brown Ale (ABV: 5.6%): The perfect blend of American and European malts to create notes of caramel, biscuits, and subtle hints of honey and chocolate, balanced with hop bitterness from American Ale yeast, allowing the malts to shine.
Raspberry Hefeweizen (ABV: 4.1%): A true fruit beer - not a fruit-flavored beer, this brew uses real raspberries during primary fermentation. This naturally yields a pink, hazy-colored brew with citrus aromas from the wheat and a desirable flavor that is neat and tart. Low in bitterness and not overwhelmingly sweet, this is our brewer’s summer water.
Hazy Getaway IPA (ABV: 4.0%): At only 110 calories, this golden IPA sways to the lighter side, but is still packed with juicy hop flavors with an unfiltered haze.
The Weekender 12-pack is available across Schlafly’s distribution for $17.99 as well as at Schlafly’s four brewpubs: Schlafly Tap Room in downtown St. Louis, Schlafly Bottleworks in the Maplewood neighborhood of St. Louis, Schlafly Bankside in St. Charles, MO and Schlafly Highland Square in Highland, IL.
