ok it’s pretty much the very opposite of the ocean but I would like to raise awareness of a really cool biome!

The piñon juniper woodland is a desert-like environment and covers about 15% of the western US and occurs between 4,500 and 7,500 feet in elevation! This biome consists of some ground cover, scrubby piñon trees and juniper trees, which are usually not much taller than 10 feet! This biome also occurs in close proximity to Joshua trees which are an endangered species endemic to the southwest US. A lot of different species call this habitat home, including tumbleweeds (which are native to Ukraine!), the endangered pinyon jay, reptiles, great horned owls, and many species of cactus! The piñon juniper woodland doesn’t really get much coverage and is threatened by climate change especially wildfires and many species are declining in population. This environment has a lot of cultural significance to the native people and is an important habitat in the American west. I hope this silly little post has helped raise some awareness of this beautiful biome! here’s a picture I took in Arizona in a piñon juniper woodland at about 5000 feet of elevation

I have always wondered what people would choose to do first if time travel was real, and I know a lot of people have mentioned that they would use it to go back into the past and stop murders and wars and the like before they even happen, and it made me think of this scenario happening very unintentionally where one day someone just goes back in time for the hell of it to see what other time periods were like but then they get distracted by this sad looking Victorian boy on the street and randomly decide “yeah I’m adopting you” without even realizing that it was young, recently abandoned Alistair Crump and that their one “just for the hell of it” decision ended up saving over 1000 people and prevented a multitude of absolutely terrible things from happening

Probably like the one time you ever hear of the butterfly effect in a positive way

It had been a long time since Mizuki had free time to spend at the Golden Saucer. She always seemed to be on business. As she walked through the bustling rooms her eyes spotted the Moogle claw machine, curious she walked over and spotted several new plush items were part of the rotation.

"No...I must resist..." she told herself sternly "but...ton-chan needs a friend right.. Just one go.."

"just one-" she reminded herself. Reaching into her purse, she pulled out a coin and fed it to the machine. Looking at the items she wanted "tough choice but.....I want the korpokkur.."

The claw moved and tried to pick up the leafy part of the korpokkur but it slipped straight out of its little metal claws.

Her shoulders slumped as she looked at the korpokkur still within the machine.

"just one..." she said, but the korpokkur looked at her with lonely eyes.. "One more time.."

and then one more..

and another..

"Why do you forsake me?" she cried, "I wish to free you from the confines of your prison." Mizuki thought a moment "if I used magick..."

"need I remind you miss Motte that cheating is strictly prohibited."

Mizuki jumped in alarm as Godbert made his presence known beside her.

The new Jax discourse and similar discourse I think could be solved by making fictional characters even meaner. Fandom people have become weakened by championing too many “morally good” characters with “sympathetic motivations”. Even villains nowadays are poisoned by those pesky “redeemable traits”. We must force them to adapt by exposing them to more irredeemable pieces of shit to restore balance to the ecosystem. No more holding back!
