Overall, Jimin is doing some self criticism, mostly in regard to his March promotions. I'm not surprised because he's a perfectionist, but I also think he's being way too hard on himself.

Of course there are no specific details mentioned, but it looks like he's choosing a different approach for his next project, like starting from scratch?

Jimin doesn't seem satisfied with his performance during Face and I wonder exactly what he means by that. I'm not saying this must be it, but could be in part about that time when he sounded a bit bad during a music show encore? At that time, I suspected it would get to him because he seems like the type of person to obsess over every little detail. Again, a perfectionist.

All I want to say is that I found the entire thing ridiculous. So what if he sounded bad at that exact time? It doesn't make him a bad singer and it doesn't erase all the other many times in which he's doing a damn good job. But this is kpop and kpop stans must act horribly and that's the way it is.

I'd also like to point out that BH is primarily at fault here for not providing professional singing lessons to the idols. It's unheard of and outrageous. It should be really high up on the list of priorities. I can only assume Jimin practiced all on his own. Just as they have choregraphers, singing teachers should be there as well. We've seen how Jimin had to ask to listen in to JK and Tae practicing and even years later, getting help from Jungkook. That's not right. It's cool that they are helping each other, but they should also have a professional on standby.

Anyway, it's fine that he has a desire for professional self improvement. It seems that he found a better formula and I can't wait to see what he comes up with. It looks like team Jimin is back in the practice room so maybe we don't have to wait too long 👀

Kpop stan culture is just getting worse and worse. People just jumping on hate bandwagons without doing any research and trying to cancel people as if careers and lives are not at risk. They just have no concept of how the real world even works and it makes me so frustrated to follow kpop in the first place.

It's definitely frustrating. The thing that annoys me the most is how I cannot read korean very well/am not fluent so have to rely on translations (that may or may not be accurate). Misinformation is so frustrating.

In general, I understand people have a sense of justice. They want to see the full effects of Karma. They want to see "bad" people suffer the consequences and only "good" people win. We can all be susceptible to these kinds of thoughts but I feel like vengeance and hate are both just destructive and don't add anything to your life.

Finding something fictional "gross" is totally a spectrum. I don't dabble in dark Japanese media because I know how horrible it is for my mental health, but then you have other people who find it interesting in some way. Who the hell are we to ban and forbid others from consuming media that was officially and globally released. Like, if it was truly abhorrent (to the point of criminality), there were plenty of chances for networks to impose bans and remove the content.

I'm just so tired of this desire to "cancel" idols for some truly ridiculous shit. This is why new generation idols are so fucking muted and deliberately bland.

Unfortunately, some fans get slight push or a big push and they think they have the right to act unhinged. Others are straight up unhinged naturally but some have been slowly turning into crazies because they can't tell the difference between fanservice and reality.

I blame them a bit but also whoever is feeding their delusions is to blame as well. Most often fans who get too intense are the ones who are mentally and emotionally vulnerable.

It's embarrassing and it's even more embarrassing that in 2023 we are still having this discussion.

I really do like how Jimin doesn't let fans take that extra step. He will legit tell them to stop saying those things which is good for him and for us.

However, the other day someone on twitter mentioned that tkkrs send Jimin Korean comments which are horrible things about leaving Jk and Tae alone and other stupidities and since most of us can't read them, we can't report them.

He deserves a peaceful live and I hope that those who know Korean are extra vigilant with that tkkr garbage. Gotta learn Korean, anon!

You know who never talks about Jikook? Kpoppies 🤔

Hear me out. I’m talking completely from a shipping perspective here. I love TikTok. I know, it’s a horrible app in regards to kpop. I avoid “Army” as much as possible and I’m super quick to block creators, but I do come across BTS and kpop videos sometimes. And there is something that I find really interesting. For the most part, the app is filled with multistans, which isn’t inherently problematic to me. I like other groups. I am familiar with their comebacks, but the only group’s “content” that I watch outside of their music is BTS. Other groups interacting doesn’t feel the same as it does with the tannies, I’ve tried. Anyway, what is interesting to me is when people make shipping videos and talk about ships that are definitely real. And what do those videos have in common? No Jikook. Not one of them mentions or included Jikook. Actually, the app rarely lists Jungkook as anything other than heterosexual 🙄 I always block those people so fast. 🤣 I think there are a couple plausible reasons for this lack of Jikook inclusion.

1.) the person doesn’t like or care about BTS. I can verify that this is sometimes the case when I look at the comments or the creators bio.

2.) they don’t want to deal with the influx of y/ns and tkks that are pretty rampant on the app so they exclude them. I could see this too and would be valid

Are there other reasons though???? Assuming these people know anything about Jikook at all, I think there is a possibility that they seem too “real”. A lot of these other groups can lean on the “fanservice” narrative, particularly those that have huge fanbases outside of Korea like Stray Kids, ATEEZ, and NCT. And let’s face it, BTS is above fanservice at this point. Maybe the occasional stage moment here and there, but they don’t need to rely on that as a means to keep fans engaged and happy. Not saying that these ships in these other groups are all fabricated, I do think some of them have real bonds like WooSan of ATEEZ, but they have less eyes on them and more plausible deniability than Jikook. Plus, I think a lot of these stans like the idea of shipping as a fantasy more than the possibility of these men being in an actual relationship. They probably don’t see it as a true possibility. And if it’s a true possibility for the most successful boy group to have two of their members in a relationship, I think that would disrupt their fantasy. This is just an inquisitive rant on how it never fails that every single time one of these vids comes across my fyp, Jikook is never part of the ensemble of ships they list off.

Eric / Yoon Doyeon really is the same man in the thread - I made a mistake, sorry. It was really hard to find correct information, and the only thing that pinned down Doyeon to any of the past (Yoon Doyeon is a common enough name so I assumed it was a mix up) was 1 picture I found on Weibo. We shouldn't be company stans and blindly trust businessmen that have pasts we don't know about and should never believe that people are good just because we want to believe they are.

But I just want to say that on the other hand...

it is still true that Yoon Doyeon has never been a CEO of a Kpop company. Alpha Entertainment was a Singaporean talent agency that opened up a Korean branch, and Yoon Doyeon was CEO of this company. That doesn't mean he was particularly involved with SKARF, nor that he was responsible for any of the horrible things that the management inflicted on SKARF members.

That doesn't mean he *isn't* responsible. I genuinely don't know the extent of his culpability.

But just to be clear, nothing in the articles shared in that thread implicated Doyeon, in any of the mistreatment/abuse. It only suggested that the managers and 'staff' were involved; this reminds me of how LOONA's managers were abusive, how Jaden Jeong was directly involved in some of the dieting decisions, and how Lee Jonghyun was *not* involved in any of their mistreatment and the members liked him very much, gave him a surprise bday party of their own volition, Vivi called him to say she loved him, and the members saw him as a father figure - the members only spoke positively about him in comparison to other staff they've shaded, and still loved a fair few of the BBC staff despite the rotten apples that made their careers hell.

Honestly I'm still confused about the CTD / Super8 fact, because both Hyunjin and Doyeon said this was Doyeon's first ever project where he lead the group, and he only started the company because Hyunjin asked him to and inspired him to try something new. I really don't know where or how Super8 comes into this. If anyone has more info on this beyond what Hyunjin has talked about (I haven't seen any solid info beyond a cursory look that seemed to be just twitter stans talking) I'd appreciate it.

You might be wondering why I'm bothering to defend Yoon Doyeon after the fact. It's simply because I think in order to respect the girls I think it's important to acknowledge the reality of how the company is treating them in the present. Like I said before, the staff have been helping Yeojin repair her relationship with food, encouraging Hyeju to eat freely, buying Hyunjin everything she needed in her apartment, very actively involved them in every step of the album, etc. The girls have explicitly expressed gratitude to the company and how truly happy they are in comparison, like Hyeju actually enjoying the US tour this time round unlike last time, and the company haven't been tooting their own horn either, like the old LOONA TVs that were very focused on image management.

To not trust the girls and how positively they are speaking of the company is honestly just disrespectful to their experience to me. Like you can be cautious, understandably, but to discount what the girls are saying just because you have so little faith that things could be good for them... it just irks. That doesn't require us to, like, stan Doyeon himself of course though...

Anyone else really terrified by the fact the fate of kpop idols is in your hands

Like people have talked before about how it's basically slavery but also.... One someone IS an idol, like after the damage is done, their fanbase can affect how their treated.

People start posting that an idol is gaining weight? Guess who doesn't get to eat dinner that night!

The dancing seems not energetic enough? Well now they're even more tired and possibly collapsing on stage because they're just going to train them HARDER!!

And the idols in big groups with lots of money will get better treatment and privileges than the ones who aren't as famous.

Like I love some kpop songs (twice is my fave group) and I hope the idols are okay- like that the abuse they face isnt too bad and theyre safe, that their labels aren't being too harsh on them or doubling down- but if I made like a stan account and then don't like a song and I post about it, and it catches on and becomes a viral take, that could directly correlate to their well-being.

Someone could DIE because too many people posted negatively about them and the label pushed them so hard as a result that they had a heart attack or heatstroke or starved to death or something.

Every kpop star is being abused in some way but the even scarier thing is that your money and your posts can make the conditions better or worse.

It's this horrible thing where you want to look away so the industry stops or changes but if you do the current idols suffer. And once you're looking you can't stop. You can't turn that gaze negative either. Your only option is to look and praise and pray that your acceptance gets them a little bit of grace; especially if you already like their music or got attached to one of the idols.

Your disinterest or hate costs someone their dinner but the success of these groups might make new people join. It never ends. Like fuck unless a law gets passed that makes this illegal and new groups just can't form there is no way to end this that doesn't hurt someone.
