3 minute fic: bruise
well, this ended up being the prompt i used for a 20 minute writing sprint, so heeereee you go, friend 🥰 (yes i know this is from AGES ago but better late than never)
A bruise on the inner thigh. That’s all it is. But Eddie can’t stop staring at it, for some reason. They're in gym class and Steve is sitting, legs crossed, on the gym floor, stretching his legs and his shorts have ridden up enough that Eddie can see the light purple mark peeking through.
He’s so curious about it he feels like he’s going a little crazy.
Did Steve walk into something? Did some girl press her thumb into the spot a little too hard, make him flinch from the pain? Or did Steve somehow give it to himself, press a finger to the spot until the bruise formed.
Eddie can’t stop looking at it. Feels like the bruise is imprinted on his eyes. He finally tears his eyes away and sees Steve looking at him, saw where his eyes were. Eddie knows his ears are turning red and he slowly turns away, tries not to move too quick because that shows guilt, and he doesn’t have anything to be guilty about. It’s a bruise. It’s Steve’s leg. That's it.
Why can’t he look?
Months later, he sees another bruise on the side of Steve’s neck. This one is a little more obvious to pinpoint the origin of - it’s a hickey, so that means the girl had her lips pressed to the soft skin, nose brushing the cute little hairs at the back of his neck. Pink tongue pressed to the skin, biting down. Eddie wonders if Steve swears under his breath when that happens, or if he grunts low like it doesn’t really bother him. Or maybe he doesn’t make a sound at all. Maybe he just grabs her thighs and pulls her against him, ignores her sucking on his neck.
Usually, people seem to be a little self conscious of hickeys. Eddie doesn’t know, he’s never had one, but he’s seen people wearing light scarves in the middle of summer, he’s seen makeup carefully applied overtop. He’s seen popped collars. But Steve wears his shirt like normal, doesn’t seem to be aware of the evidence sitting on his neck. Or if he is, he doesn't care. Eddie sits behind him in class, can’t stop staring.
He wonders what it would be like to suck on Steve Harrington’s skin. If his cologne would smell better at that distance, or if it would be cloying and bitter on his tongue.
Steve turns, catches Eddie looking. Like he knew Eddie’s eyes were digging into the back of his neck, pressing their own mark into his soft skin.
Eddie looks away, looks at the paper on his desk, pretends he doesn’t see Steve at all.
In the Upside Down, Steve is covered in bruises. All over. Eddie has some matching ones as well, but it’s nothing like Steve’s. Knees bruised from being pulled along the ground, arms covered. Elbows, shoulders. Mottled and dark. Eddie wonders if he's always bruised so easily. Can't stop staring at the one on his chin.
In the hospital, Eddie looks down at his arms. He has bruises but they don’t match Steve's anymore. They’re small rings of purple and green skin, bruising around needles that are inserted into his veins. Needles with painkillers, and more. More things that Eddie can never remember the name of, just knows that it's the good stuff.
The bruising around his mouth is finally disappearing, the bruising from the tube that was down his throat when he wasn’t awake enough to feed himself, couldn’t quite breathe on his own.
Steve is sitting beside his hospital bed, hand draped over the side. His bruises have mostly faded, and that’s how Eddie knows just how much time has passed. Steve smiles, small, when he sees Eddie is awake and Eddie feels the betrayal of the heart monitor machine as it picks up, the telltale beeps getting closer and closer together.
“Someone’s finally awake.”
“I’ve been awake for a while.” Eddie mutters, tries to sit up. Steve half-stands like he’s going to help but Eddie just gets up on his own, breathes heavy when he leans back.
“Ow.”
“Yeah, ow.” Steve laughs, and his fingers brush against Eddie’s wrist that’s trapped against the bed. His arm doesn’t want to work anymore, the nerves apparently too damaged to do much else other than rest right now.
Maybe it’s Eddie’s heart that’s a little bruised. That’s the only explanation he has for the pain he feels when Steve leaves after a few minutes, says he’s sorry that he has to go so soon. Eddie smiles, feels weak as he does it, says Bye softly to Steve’s back as he leaves the room. Then he closes his eyes and feels the familiar dripdripdrip back into his veins, falls into a weird sleep where Steve is covered head to toe in bruises and Eddie has a cloth, washes his skin, washes all the bruises away.
Months later, Eddie falls in physical therapy. He’s trying to train his legs to do the things they were so good at before - walking, running. He can manage several shaky steps before he has to cling onto the railing, but on this one day, he misses and his therapist barely catches him in time, arm bumping painfully against the railing.
“Shit.” Eddie wants to cry, wants to feel like he’s getting better but he doesn’t know how to do that here, has never had to do this before. Feels so frustrated with himself that he may as well be one giant bruise.
The bruise by his elbow forms quickly. His skin is pale, he never goes outside anymore, and the purple is harsh against it.
Steve who visits, brings Eddie lunch, points it out. “You okay?”
“I fell the other day.” Eddie says, pulls his sandwich toward himself with his other hand. “It’s not a big deal, just a little mishap during therapy.”
“Jeez.” Steve chews, swallows. “That sounds painful.”
“Little bit.”
He’s used to it, Eddie thinks. He’s used to not getting things quite right.
When he’s back home, Steve visits. Eddie is glad, was a little worried he’d never see Steve again once he was out of the hospital. Wasn’t quite sure if Steve was visiting out of a sense of obligation or if he wanted to see Eddie, see him for real.
Steve shows up and immediately picks up Eddie’s hand, sees the small oval bruise on his wrist. “What happened?”
Eddie knows Steve is worried about Eddie doing something stupid, about Eddie picking up a needle. He wants to explain to Steve that that’s not what the hell track marks look like, that those would be up on the soft part of his arm.
“From my guitar. The neck.” Eddie gestures with his hands, how he holds his guitar. “It’s been a while, I forgot that it hurts like hell.”
“Oh.” Steve doesn’t drop his hand, just holds his wrist up closer to his face like he’s inspecting it. “Good. I thought - never mind.”
“I’m fine, Steve.” Eddie says, tries not to let the frustration seep through. And Steve knows it because Steve sort of knows him best now. And maybe he sees the Eddie is feeling uncomfortable in his own skin, tender and unsure. Because Steve slowly raises his hand up to his mouth, presses his lips to the bruise on the inside of his wrist. Makes Eddie’s breath catch as he watches, feels Steve’s breath float across the sensitive skin.
“What’re you doing?” Eddie whispers, but Steve’s eyes are closed and he’s just holding Eddie’s wrist to his mouth. Pulls it away, just to press it to the skin again, slightly higher up. Kisses, so softly, makes Eddie wonder how his heart can still possibly be so bruised when the rest of him has managed to heal. For the most part.
“I’m just glad you’re okay.” Steve says, and Eddie can feel the words against his skin. “Every day, I think about it. I’m so glad you’re here.”
“Me too.” Eddie says quietly, and when he pulls his wrist back toward himself, Steve doesn’t let go. Lets it be the link between them, uses it to pull himself close. Eddie’s on the couch and Steve puts all his weight on his arm, braces himself against the cushions. Slowly presses his lips to Eddie’s cheek, and then his lips.
“I’m so glad you’re here.” Steve says again, like he can’t quite believe it, and then his hand is cradling Eddie’s head and he’s leaning in, kissing him again. Doesn’t bruise him at all, holds him so gently that Eddie thinks he could heal a little faster, heal bit by bit, just like this.

Hi! How about 47 and 54 for the trope mashup? :)
Hello!!
This was such a fantastic pairing for the prompts!! I hope you enjoy it :)
47 Emotional Support + 54 Mickey’s Mom Is Alive
It was a long ways between Chicago and Eastern Kentucky, and there was a hundred mile stretch of road as they waded through the rolling hills of Appalachia where the only station that would play without static was straight up, honkey tonk country music.
Ian was loosing his mind at the sound of the fucking fiddle, but he didn’t dare turn it off because then he would be sitting in a quiet car with his husband while they travel to the hicks to visit his apparently very not dead, dead mother.
Mickey took it upon himself to end the torture with an angry slap to the radios power button. “Jesus,” he muttered under his breath.
“So, um” Ian said nervously, “you’re going to get off the highway in three exits.”
Shifting into the next right lane, Mickey sighed. The car went quiet again so Ian filled in the silence again, “we should be there in about a half hour, forty five minutes tops.”
Mickey nodded, but didn’t respond. So Ian spoke up again, clearing his throat and wincing as each word came out of his mouth “so are you, uh excited? You know, excited to see her.”
Three months ago, Ian got a phone call from Mandy Milkovich. They were stuck talking to their chattiest client and Ian was going to blow off the call from the unknown number, but he got a weird feeling about it. He had a million questions for her, but she just needed him to talk to Mickey about something.
“What, what is it Mands?” Ian asked urgently. “I can give you his number if you want-”
“No, Ian - seriously just listen. I don’t, I mean - well send me his number in case, I do want to talk to him” she stammered. “I need you to tell him something for me because I just, I can’t have the conversation with him because he’s, y’know a total fucking drama queen.”
“Mandy, what the hell are you talking about?” Ian asked lowly, stepping out of the building with a concerned glance from his husband.
“I found our mom” she said, exhaling all at one.
“You found her like - like, you found where she was buried?” Ian asked curiously.
“No, no I found where she is living, alive. As in our mom isn’t dead” Mandy said slowly.
“No but, your mom is dead” Ian responded.
“Yeah” Mandy agreed. “Except she’s not, Terry lied.”
“Why would he do that?” Ian asked incredulously.
“Seriously?”
“Yeah, right. So your mom is alive and you want me to break the news to Mickey? Don’t you think that is the kind of information that should come from a sibling?”
“Well, I mean, you’re a lot closer to him. Husbands and unconditional love and all that.”
“You could argue that there’s unconditional love between siblings as well,” Ian reasoned.
“Mhm, yeah, not for us.”
“Okay, fine I get it. Um, can you just tell me a little bit about what happened? Mickey doesn’t talk about her.”
“Um, Terry knocked her up with Mickey when she was thirteen, they got married when she was sixteen. Mickey was her favorite and she was his favorite person in the world, one day when we were eleven Terry came home and told us that ding dong the bitch is dead and Mickey didn’t speak except to cry himself to sleep for about six months and then he never spoke about her again and would lash out at anyone who did.”
“Oh, good. I’m glad no one told me” Ian said sarcastically. “What the fuck, Mandy?”
“I don’t know what to tell you, Ian” Mandy insisted. “I found her, I’m staying with her for a while and she really wants to see Mickey.”
“Okay, right. My brain is fucking leaking out of my fucking ass right now Mandy, I’m going to talk to him tonight and I will call you back sometime tomorrow and just..um, I will let you know how that goes.”
“Thank you so much, Ian. I know this is hard but I just can’t do the mom thing with him again, and you were dumb enough to marry him.”
“Yeah, I guess I was, I’ll call you tomorrow.”
“Okay, thank you.”
“I’m so happy to hear from you, Mandy.”
She hung up at that. And Ian was left to head back inside and face his husband.
It was ugly, that night when he told Mickey. He was in denial for a while, thinking Ian was lying or playing a trick on him. He was pacing around like a caged animal, eyes wild and mouth running non-stop. Once he did come to accept it, he stopped talking, stoped moving around and his eyes traveled down that thousand yard path to no where.
Ian tried to get him to share how he was feeling, but he was completely stone-like, where he’d settled on the floor, back against the couch and knees pulled up to his chest. So ultimately Ian just sat next to him and gently pulled Mickey close to him, until he settled his head on Ian’s shoulder and cried completely silently.
“I don’t know how to help you” Ian whispered quietly, after a long while of sitting like that. “I don’t know how to make it better.”
Mickey didn’t react except to rub his cheek slightly against the soft wet cotton of Ian’s teeshirt.
They didn’t mention it again for two days, and then another week went by before Ian hesitantly broached the subject again, only to get shot down over and over again.
“It’s like living with the worlds angriest rubber band, he is going to fucking snap, Mandy. You need to talk to him, I am going to make sure he’s home alone tonight and you are going to fucking call him and answer all of is questions and help me with this shit.”
Mandy tried to talk Ian down, but reluctantly agreed to call Mickey that night. Which was how they wound up on a highway through Kentucky trying not to scoff at all the ultra-religious billboards.
His mother lived in a small house with a smoking chimney, framed by the mist floating through orange gold trees on the surrounding mountains. Mandy was standing on the front porch when they pulled up, watching hesitantly.
Mickey turned off the engine but made no move to get out of the car, so Ian turned to him quickly. “Mickey, listen. Whatever happens today, everything is going to be okay. I can’t promise that she’s okay and that your relationship with your mom is going to be remotely fine or normal. But everything will be okay in the end, right? I love you so much, you’re going to be okay.”
Mickey looked over at him, expression frenzied and helpless, so Ian took his hand and brought it up to press his mouth against it. “Mickey, pause. Take a couple deep breaths with me, and let’s go.”
So sorry to do this, but the prompt was way too good to keep so short so read the rest here if you're interested !

i lowkey wanna ignore henry while he gives me head just to see how far he’ll go
he would grow so annoyed with it, it'd be a thrill. due to constantly being used to getting his way, the opposite scenario would irk him greatly. and thus, of course, he would resort to exaggerated, nearly desperate means.
at first, he’d think he were simply not doing his best, and therefore try to apply more pressure — stimulate your clit with his mouth even more, flick his tongue a little faster. that would go on for short while, until he’d ultimately register that you’re not exactly reacting to any of it like you usually do, either. then, he’d pull away to contemplate — and blow cool air on your clit as he does so. it’d tickle, obviously, sending a tremendous shiver folding down your spine, and yet, you’d employ your best to keep quiet and disregard it all.
of course, he’d have your little game figured out in not time. swooping in to your heated center once more, he’d press a curious kiss to your bundled sensitivity, and question — quite sweetly, “and to what do i owe this inadvertence? mmh? are my efforts insufficient for you?" his breath would fan out against your core in an electrifying manner; you’d be forced to bite down on your lip in order to suppress a moan.
having gathered a bit of composure, you’d act a fool, "what?" as a response, you’d merely receive a displeased, albeit curious flick of the eyebrow from him. this is where you’d make a mental note that communicating with henry whilst he is oh-so-conveniently situated between your legs might be the most wicked thing on earth. still, you’d brush his suspicions off, "no, not at all. keep going." a mischievous grin would appear on your face, merely posing further proof to him.
"will i receive any confirmation thereof, then?" he’d inquire sternly.
having decided to challenge him a little, you’d tangle your hand in his dark locks and tease, "just stop talking." after saying that, you’d try to nudge him back forward, and to your great surprise — he wouldn’t resist. instead, he’d let himself be urged against your center, and that’s when you’d perceive that secret catch about his uncharacteristic obedience despite being teased — he’d close his teeth in on your clit, albeit lightly. you’d immediately shriek — you wouldn’t have have expected him to bite.
“henry!”
all he’d offer you in response before delving back in and proceeding would be something along the lines of now we’re talking — an arrogant, firm expression of triumph. from then on, you’d respond to his efforts — profoundly and devotedly so.

Danny is a house husband.
That's it, that's all it is.
As the years went on. Danny retired from being a superhero. There was no need for Phantom when the GIW were dealt with and all the ghosts were under control.
Now what's left for him to do but to just sit back, relax, and finally be able to live his life.
Sam and Tucker on the other hand....
Well, they had plenty of pent up rage, wits, and chaos inside their mind to become villains.
But they had one rule.
Never bring work home and to never involve Danny in any of their supervillain business.
Okay that's technically two rules, but they're kind of synonymous especially since Danny has been taking care of their house while also entertaining himself with trying new hobbies.
Tucker and Sam both make sure that they never bring any of their villainy home to Danny, because all they want is for Danny to enjoy his happy hero retirement.
And Danny in turn, doesn't bat an eye when watching the news and seeing that there were magical plants that were attacking sites that oil companies were digging or that somehow Lex Luthor had lost five hundred million dollars and had somehow leaked records showing he was building weapons of mass destruction.
He also doesn't bat an eye when he sees that Tucker had brought home a telescope that definitely looks like it came from some fancy lab because hey, Tucker was making him an observatory so he can look at the stars and planets. While also how they were able to make a great gaming pc with computer parts that are definitely not sold in stores, because hey at least the newest update of Doomed wasn't lagging.
Or that Sam comes home with various plants and animals that are definitely not from planet earth, but hey the three headed wolf-lizard-eagle- hybrid thing (that Danny has affectionately named Fluffy) is pretty great at keeping the pests away from his vegetable garden and likes to eat any of Danny's new food creations and is a great playmate for Cujo.
So you can imagine how the Justice League thinks when dealing with the pair of new villains: Upload (Tucker) and Sam (I could not think of a villain name that would suit her, so it's up to you what you think her villain name would be)
And how they were currently wreaking havoc in the city either by cyber warfare with robots or by magic plant monster or a Frankenstein of both approaches. The heroes had all evacuated the civilians from the battle zone and are currently fighting a losing battle. When they've been effectively captured and restrained by the two. Right before the villains could go into a monologue, they hear a person clearing their throat.
Everybody looks to see a 25 year old man wearing a sweater vest (he made it himself, thank you very much) currently holding onto the leash of a giant glowing green dog and some kind of giant animal hybrid. The man's arms were crossed and was currently not sporting a very happy look on his face.
Tucker and Sam (looking at Danny with hesitant smiles): Hi honey.
Danny (frowning): you missed our anniversary dinner.
Tucker and Sam both pale as they quickly realized what the date and time was.
The league all watch as Sam and Tucker immediately start apologizing to the man that just walked into a battle zone.
Danny (still frowning): Hmph! I guess since you two didn't want dinner you can go back to your little fight. Don't expect me to make you any lunches for the next month, and since you two are having so much fun here, you'll be sleeping by yourselves for the next couple weeks.
The league all watch as they were let go as Sam and Tucker yell as they run after Danny yelling apologies as he was walking away from them.
This is not the last they see of Danny.
When Danny is displeased with either of his partners, he'll invite a hero over to have lunch of afternoon tea.

NU UH
Jack Fenton, dialed his younger sister's phone number as he gazed apologetically at the family of bats, that was hanging around in his living room. he impatiently waited for the other party to pick up.
The Bat family remained stoic as they observed the man, they had or Batman had ordered to put the call on speaker, if ever the phone was answered, Robin had stared at the doorway leading to the kitchen there stood Jack's supposed oldest daughter Jazz. who only stared amused at her father's antics much to Robin's confusion.
finally after a grueling 10 seconds wait, the call was finally answered.
Robin held his breath awaiting for the voice he was expecting for.
"Yes, Ahki?" Talia's voice resonated, from the phone. making everyone's eyes except the Fenton family widen.
'what? mother never told me she had a brother.' Damian thought as he took a peek at his father's face who was scrunched up in confusion. same for the rest of his family.
"Talia, my dear ukht, I've heard from a few birds and bats that you have taken my son. on his fieldtrip." Jack said, his nervous and outgoing personality vanishing and what took place was a serious and angry tone of a father as soon as heard the caller's voice, making everyone in the room shudder at the sudden cold atmosphere while the oldest daughter remained composed and unbothered as she watched.
Silence came from the other side of the phone, before answering "It seems i have." Talia answered back, you can here the voice of a boy in the background asking if it was his dad.
"Stop with this false innocence of yours, bring my son back immediately, partly alive and safe." Jack stated, much to the Bats and birds confusion.
Silence once again, as the phone remained quiet seemingly put down on a table with a few whispers and shuffling. before it was picked up once again.
"Nu uh." was the only thing Talia said as she hang up.
everyone paused.
"The fuck you mean 'Nu uh'?!" Jack yelled, at his phone. While his wife walked their daughter's side who was laughing her ass off, confused she looked at the bats then at her husband and then just sighed.
"Dinner's Ready." she only said as she retreated back at to the kitchen.

Talk (Silence)
~
Danny has gotten used to not having to watch what he said as the years went by.
In Amity everyone basically knew he was Phantom and just treated it as normal, and he had already told his parents what had happened,
They did a total 180 on their opinions, now chasing after ghosts to question them about everything they could squeeze out of them.
They were very proud of Danny too, often helping him with their technology.
Having said that he got used to not watching what he said in Amity, everyone knew so why bother right?
Unfortunately he was not in Amity
He was in Gotham visiting Jazz, who had moved for University.
They were currently in a cafe catching up, talking as their used to.
Not realizing that their conversation without context sounded very worrying.
~
Jazz: " So how are mod and dad?"
Danny: "Oh you know the usual, they're making new weapons, hopefully this time they wont target me, getting shot sucks, but I prefer it over getting electrocuted "
Jazz: " Good luck!"
(TOPC)The other people in the cafe: What the fuck
~
Danny: " Vlad keeps putting cameras in my room, so I went and confronted him about it again, I don't care that he's the mayor! "
Jazz: " He really needs some therapy"
Danny: " He's a fruitloop, he's beyond help"
TOPC: *concerned side eye*
~
Jazz: "You know I was a bit more worried about the criminals here, but honestly weak, I miss actual competent villains"
Danny: "I told you!"
TOPC not sure if they should be offended or wary of where they live
~
Jazz: " You know I kinda miss the food back home"
Danny: "What that it would come back to life and fight you to the death?"
Jazz: " I mean that too, but I was talking about the taste"
Danny: " Oh yes the chemically contaminated food really has some extra flavor compared to this" *gestures at his plate*
~
Danny: " I went to the park to play with Cujo and got kidnapped and they almost cut me in half"
Danny/Jazz: "Typical Friday!"
TOPC recording on their phones to make sure they're not hallucinating, someone is live tweeting.

Jason had been stress cooking one night and accidentally made too much food. Not wanting it to go to waste, he offered some of it to his neighbor. The next day the very same neighbor approached him and very seriously pressed a piece of paper in his hand telling him to use it whenever he was in trouble before disappearing back into his apartment. Jason looked down at the paper. Was this a sigil?

Dan hates his Nicer Self.
He does. He really, really does.
The kid is naïve, cocky, strong in the weirdest ways that don't make sense-
And he's such a busybody! Always helping, always jumping into things, and always saying that he's definitely not trying to be a hero.
It's annoying.
It's so annoying.
For instance, Phantom got called in by the JL for an all-hands-on-deck situation right before a super important test. Phantom accepted the call.
But the JL had dealt with threats like this before, a million times-there was literally no need to answer the call.
Yet the little dumbass had.
And now Dan was at home, staying on the other side of the room away from Vlad, and watching the fight on TV.
Phantom takes a hit. Then another. Then another.
Good; he'll learn not to jump when the JL says jump, then.
Phantom goes down, disappears behind some rubble.
Dan doesn't care. He doesn't. Let the kid learn a lesson.
Phantom doesn't get up.
Just like Jazz didn't get up.
Or Sam, or Tucker, or his mom or his dad-
Dan sees red.
He barely hears Vlad as he rips a portal to the fight and steps out, in his own ghost form, and decks the bad guy-some demon named Trigun or whatever, fucking weeb-so hard he knocks the guy back.
The fight pauses.
"You touched the twerp," Dan growls, voice distorting and allowing his powers to manifest at full capacity for the first time in years, "So you get to lose your head."

Tim swears Phantom could’ve been a Titan. Maybe he should be, at this point. They have enough in common to justify it.
“Jeez,” Phantom groans. Abruptly, he drops the levitation and hits the roof without sound. He stretches out on his back like a cat, sore muscles straining in a way Red Robin deeply relates to. “Fighting the living sucks. At least with ghosts I can swing as hard as I need. Already dead means they get back up! But mortals? Way too squishy.”
Red Robin huffs in agreement. “Yeah,” he says. After a moment’s consideration, he lies down, too.“It’s a hundred times harder than people realize. Batman’s always going on about perfect control in training. About how to have it, you gotta be twice as skilled as the other guy. Even without your super-strength, I worry sometimes.”
“How do you do it?” Phantom asks. In a move only achievable to those without bones, or perhaps Dick Grayson, he twists himself over. Gloved hands cup his cheeks. His legs kick back and forth, like they’re gossiping at a slumber party. “I mean. You said you train, so obviously there’s the physical ‘how.’ But how do you keep your emotions nonlethal? How do you keep yourself in check, make sure you’re pulling back?”
“I mean,” says Red Robin. “Murder is illegal, so.”
Phantom sighs. “Yeah. Maybe it’s easier for you.”
… Hm. Maybe Red Robin should redo Phantom’s risk assessment.
Before he can raise too high an eyebrow (though even moving that muscle smarts, ow), Phantom elaborates.
“Ecto-based entities have trouble with their emotions,” he explains. “It’s easy to get lost in an Obsession, or a big feeling like grief. The rest of the world… it bleeds away. Helps to have another emotional anchor to keep it at bay. I use fear.”
“Fear?” Red Robin glanced over.
“Sometimes sheer stubbornness,” Phantom admits. “But a lot of it is fear.”
With a considering frown, he drops his head atop his arms. Exhaustion, regret, reluctance play out on his face. For someone the Bats know next to nothing about, Phantom’s body language is an open book.
“I saw, like, an alternate future version of myself once where I become evil and try to take over the world? So now I gotta be good to keep that from happening. The fear of that future keeps the pressure on me. Makes me focus up. Y’know?”
Tim sits up. “Seriously?”
Phantom nods. “Uh-huh. Kinda bizarre, I know—”
“What the hell,” says Tim. Three consecutive days together and a concussion must loosen his lips, because holy shit, no way. “Dude! Me too!”
“Huh? Seriously?” says Phantom.
“Yeah! I totally saw myself turn evil. Like, Batman but with guns. Guns Batman. I had to fight him and everything. He tried to kill my friends and erase my memory to make sure I couldn’t un-invent him by going back to change the past?”
“Oh my god.”
“What?”
“Oh my god, me too!”
happy wips wednesday!

"I'll pay you 10 times the amount you were given to take me out." Bruce Wayne is, very out of character, super serious and looking at him so intense.
Danny isn't paid enough to figure out why the supposed himbo isn't acting like it.
"You know what? Yeah. Deal." He fishes his phone out, accepting the money transfer and calls his boss for the day.
"Heyyy big guy– yeah‐ I know... anyway! I'm not killing Bruce Wayne, you should find someone different to do it— bye!" And he hangs up, cutting the shouting with a grin.
"If you ever, and I mean, ever need someone out of the way, call me."
He happily hands his contact information to the billionaire and swoops out of the window.
He is rich! So mega rich!
("Did you just buy the mercenary?"
"He's a kid! I panicked!"
"At least you got a phone number??")

The bats had no idea what they were looking at. A very large vehicle that looked like it shouldn’t possibly be able to run was speeding around Gotham in no particular order. Almost as if it was looking for something. It took all of the bats over an hour to chase it down and contain it to question the driver.
A man with black hair and blue eyes that remind Bruce of his late father looks out the window, and says, “We’re looking for our son.”
A woman in the passenger seat that looks like Bruce’s mother adds, “The self sacrificial idiot jumped through a portal into another dimension trying to save a cat.”
The man nodded along, “It’s not really a cat though.”
“Well, what is it?” Tim asked, genuinely confused.
“It’s the alternate version of our son from a timeline where he went evil.” The woman responds.
“But don’t worry, he’s not evil anymore!” The man grins.
Bruce had questions. “But why would your son be a cat?”
“Because our daughter—the girl cloned from the current version of our son, that is—decided to shapeshift into a dog and chase him through the multiverse.” The man replied.
“So our other daughter, the older one, she decided to alert us, but she couldn’t wait, so now she shapeshifted ito a bird to try and catch them that way.” The woman continued.
“Are all of your children shapeshifters?” Bruce asked.
“Yep.” The man said proudly.
“Are you?” Bruce asked.
“It’s complicated.” The woman shrugged, “Using the GAV is faster.”
Bruce was very thankful that the cowl covered most of his face. Everything the people said just made his brain hurt worse.

To be honest. DCxDP where the reason Danny meets the bats is Ace the Bat-hound
Like, just think about it for a second. Danny is in Gotham for college, or maybe he just moved out to find a city where having mad scientist parents isn’t actually that unusual.
He can see ghosts.
The ghosts know this.
Now he’s getting harassed left and right by spirits trying to get closure. Fine, whatever, most of them are a one-and-done type deal, and the amount of ghosts trying to get his help steadily decreases.
Except for this one very stubborn dog.
It just keeps showing up and leading him to crime scenes! He doesn’t know how many “anonymous tips” he can call in to the cops before they trace his phone! And this dog, this incredibly good boy, will not stop trying to help the city. He’s never met anyone with such a strong sense of justice, let alone a dog. Can dogs even have a moral compass?
And so Danny just accepts the fact that Ace isn’t going anywhere and becomes his reluctant sidekick/dedicated medium. He leans into the whole thing, dressing up in a mix of traditional magic-user attire and accessories that pay homage to the ghost dog.
He becomes somewhat well known. The psychopomp detective following around the shadowy figure of a German Shepard? That’s unusual! That’s weird! I mean, it’s not the weirdest thing in Gotham, sure, but he’s a new vigilante and he’s got a ghost dog that people can only see when it’s around him. Someone’s gonna notice.
Damian, as Robin, is the first to reach out to him.
Ace doesn’t know Damian but he does know a Robin, and while this isn’t his Robin, he’s still friendlier than usual. Danny’s panicking because oh god the bats are here and also is this kid gonna steal my ghost dog, Damian is absolutely delighted by Ace, and Ace is just happy to see a Robin again.
Damian decides that the psychopomp isn’t a danger to anyone, and there’s no reason to put this encounter into his reports, really, and perhaps Danny can help with some of his cases in the future.
Danny is sweating bullets because Damian basically tells him that he’ll keep him secret as long as he gets to play with Ace. Ace is happy that he’s finally getting some bat affiliated crime-fighting assistance.
And so, Danny is now both Ace AND Damian’s reluctant assistant. At least whenever he’s in trouble, he can always call a middle schooler to help him.
(Is Robin even in school? He’s out patrolling damn near every night, and he stays out late as hell. Does he have a bedtime? He should.)
Eventually it gets to the point where Damian is going over to Danny’s house. When he first sees it, he has a damn bitch you live like this moment, to which Danny responds that not everyone has the money to afford a nice place. Damian counters that he could at least take the time to clean up, and Danny replies that he’s working, going to school, and being a vigilante assistant to a ghost dog, something’s got to give.
Danny nearly has a heart attack when he checks his bank account the next day and sees that someone transferred him 10,000 dollars.
And so they get into a routine. Danny and Damian fight crime with Ace at night, and occasionally Damian stops by during the day to play with Ace and have Danny help with his homework.
(Damian is smart enough to do it on his own, but some of the instructions are written incredibly confusingly, and he would never admit to needing help to his family. Danny is just glad that the kid is in school and cares about his education, blissfully unaware that he’s basically emotionally adopted him.)
Damian is used to being in Danny’s company.
Eventually, when going over a case with the family, Damian absentmindedly remarks that he’ll have to ask Danny about some of the clues that they might be missing. Nightwing asks who he means and Damian makes a face like he just swallowed a lemon.
Cue shitstorm.
Who is “Danny?” Why is Damian willing to ask for help from anyone, much less someone outside of the family? Does he know who Damian is? Has Damian been compromised? What the hell is going on?
Damian now has to explain that Danny is the psychopomp with the ghost dog who he might have met hunted down while on patrol and conveniently not mentioned, but he’s not a bad person, really, and he lets him play with Ace, and he’s been quite helpful on certain cases due to his ability to talk to ghosts.
Bruce insists that the family meet Danny. Damian, hoping that he won’t just skip town the second he hears the news, relents.
Danny is surprisingly eager to meet the bats, considering his earlier fears.
Damian, blissfully unaware of what’s coming, sets a time and place to meet.
Once everyone is there, he gives Bruce the earful of a lifetime.
Robin is in middle school! Danny knows that there’s no way to stop the boy from going on patrol, but you could at least shift his schedule so he gets enough sleep on school nights! Does the Bat even know where he is half the time?! (No) And why isn’t he comfortable asking his family for help with both cases and homework? Did they ever even notice how much time he was spending at Danny’s house? If Danny was a bad person, he could have seriously hurt the poor boy! Shame on you!
Nightwing is mortified that Damian didn’t trust him enough to tell him about any of this. Red Hood is laughing his ass off, because yeah Danny is making good points but he’s also chewing out the literal Batman. Tim is recording the whole thing. Steph is delighted by the absolute gall of this Danger Twink™️, and already planning to add him to several groupchats. Damian is more embarrassed than he’s ever been in his entire life.
You, he points to Nightwing, did your academic life feel supported when you were a Robin? Nightwing is too stunned to speak. Red Hood, eternal shit-stirrer, says that oh, we all prioritized patrol over our education, that’s just how it is. Red Robin actually dropped out of high school to avoid distractions, did you know that?
Danny honest-to-god shrieks at this.
He finishes his angry rant and leaves, everyone too stunned to stop him.
And as it turns out, Tim wasn’t the only person recording the whole thing.
The entire internet is blowing up with Psychopomp The Danger Twink™️’s rant. People are taking sides. Things are getting messy. Red Hood literally admitting on-camera to previously being a Robin is somehow not the main focus here.
Eventually someone connects some dots from the video, as well as stories circling the internet about the psychopomp. A ghost dog named Ace, who is the literal only reason that the psychopomp is fighting crime at all, which seems incredibly fond of Nightwing and Robin.
A crime-fighting dog who wants constant attention from both the current and original Robin.
Oh my god, Ace the Bat-hound died and became a crime-fighting ghost.
And, somehow, that’s still not the strangest thing going on in Gotham.
