flynn fitzherbert always put a lot of weight on being king. as a kid playing make believe, his duties often involved dragons and monsters and citizens to be saved, but he was paying attention to the job he was born into ever since it connected that it would one day be his. even with childish ideals of what being king would entail, it was engrained in him to be pride himself in it and fall into the role with grace. at eighteen, fresh out of school, he did just that - stepping into his role as the future king of corona and absorbing any and all information he could like a sponge in order to prepare.

what he didn’t expect was to fall short of the standards he had put on himself in the process, crumbling under the pressure of royalty a mere four years into his training. all his life, his father drilled into his head just how privileged he was to be in this position, how lucky. he was brought into this world that seemed so easy in childhood, yet rewarding all the same. flynn hadn’t been ready for the difficulties of ruling. the realization that you couldn’t help everyone and that people could simply hate you due to the symbolism behind your last name. 

it wasn’t his idea to take what his father kept referring to as a gap year, but the realization that flynn was putting so much pressure on himself led to concern and insistence to temporarily step away. they realized they he never really had the chance to just be a kid, to find himself and live life as flynn - and while he didn’t hold much value in those types of things, his parents thought it was important for him to take the time to figure out life beyond the throne. connect with his siblings again. maybe take a class or two. have fun.

that’s been flynn’s goal over the course of the past six months - to just live - though it sometimes proves to be a tall order. the kid who was once the epitome of sunshine had turned into a ball of stress, and apparently he’s supposed to go find the sunshine again. whatever that meant. he’ll find out eventually.

until then, we’re throwing bonfires on the beach and fucking winging it.

firstly i haven't even watched descendants until last year when my friend forced me to and i absolutely fell in love with it

my favorite movie is def the second one, but my ranking goes two, three, then one. uma's crew brings exactly what it needed and i love them so much

we are 18/19 and auradon is a university instead of a prep/high school

ben and i are basically like siblings as our parents are very close - unfortunately auradon believes we're arranged to be married since we are so close

i have a cat named sunny and she is an actual ray of sunshine i love her so much

here she is :)

i don't have any siblings, which is why ben and i are so close since we're only children

my wardrobe consists of a lot of yellow + lavender + light blue combos

i have a dagger that i have on me at all times just in case and know how to sword fight/use it

i look more like my dad but i have my moms eyes and freckles :)

while there are dorms in auradon, i do not have a roommate right now but i can request one if i want

in my home castle my room is up in the tower and is full of artistic doodles from my mom and i and its a lavender and sunny aesthetic

lots of purple and yellow if that makes sense (yellow is my favorite color even in my cr so it makes sense for me)

speaking of yellow my dorm at auradon is more yellow than lavender because its my favorite color :)

there's a lot of majors but i have no idea what i want to major in yet so i'm still figuring it all out

we actually use magic in auradon! i think magic is so central and our parents definitely passed their magic onto us so we get to use it

also in carona we have a lantern ceremony for my birthday and it is so beautiful i get emotional every time

so we celebrate my birthday and the day my mom was found, there's other festivals as well to celebrate things like harvest and fall <3

i am shifting to the first movie, specifically the day that the vks are coming to auradon!

i love to meet people and experience all of that so i get to meet the vks with ben and help show them around

nothing really changes in the first movie, mal doesn't drug ben because that was wild but ben definitely has had a crush on mal for a while now

i convinced him to propose his vk plan <3

in the second movie i also go to the isle with ben and we both get kidnapped!

i made a tiktok about this but i literally follow him and wind up being taken as well- oops

but hey thats where i meet uma's crew!

and harry but thats not important rn-

third movie i'm with jane for her birthday and meet up with everyone in the woods like in the movie

so yeah other than that its like super close to the movies

i can't wait for after the third movie though timeline was because it's going to be so fun with all the villain kids in auradon with us

especially uma's crew <3 i love uma so much i respect the hell out of her

i'm really good friends with jane and my friend sol :) idk if they're on tumblr but they are my shifting best friend and we script each other into our drs so we can meet

anyway sol is chad's twin and they're cinderella and prince charming's kids

her and chad are very close as siblings, brains and beauty frfr

i haven't met any of the vks yet but i hope to be really good friends with them :)

so while ben has a crush on mal, harry has a little crush on a certain princess and doesn't think it'll ever happen until the press interview said princess where they state that ben and her are more like siblings not arranged lovers

so yeah :) descendants two is going to be fun

audrey doesn't like me or mal

she thinks i'm in the way of her families plan for her to be queen but i'm literally like go! take him! i don't want ben!

but he has eyes on mal so she doesn't like that either

other than that i'm very close with my parents and ben's parents

also gil and i are going to be best friends. i haven't met him yet but that's my goal because he also speaks french and is so naturally funny

my dance partner usually was ben, but after the vks arrived it turns into jay

here's my crown :) its like a mini version of my moms crown but in my mind its more stylized to fit the yellow/lavendar theme i have

PAIRING: Eugene x Female Reader (Romantic) (Fluff)

SUMMARY: (Y/N) has her hands full with her thieving boyfriend, Eugene. She has to make his wanted posters and decides she needs a model.

Being an official member for the knights of Corona is more than just a tiring job. Especially when (Y/N) constantly has to use her influence just to keep her boyfriend out of trouble.

Eugene Fitzherbert, professionally known as Flynn Rider, has proven to be more than just a thorn in her side; even on his best days, it’s still a load of paperwork to get through just to clear his name. That never stops Eugene from repaying the favor tenfold of course.

(Y/N) left her house, greeting the townsfolk as she made her way to work. Countless wanted posters needed to be updated and others required a whole new look. Her boyfriend was one of them.

It was quite pitiful how often the wanted posters got his nose wrong, but (Y/N) couldn’t help herself from keeping a copy of each one she made; yep, she made every single one. A secret that she had kept from Eugene. (Y/N) didn’t hide it out of shame or anything, she was just waiting for the right time to reveal it and see the look of shock on Eugene’s face.

And today was finally her chance. The stars had aligned, she woke up in a good mood, and even encountered a ladybug on her way into her private office. Today was going to be the day she’d finally unveil her long ongoing prank to Eugene.

She took her work supplies home and waited for Eugene to return from one of his many adventures. He always made it back home at the exact same time with a gift of flowers, chocolate, and afternoon kiss.

“Have a good day at work, sunshine?” He asked while hugging (Y/N) in a deathly grip. He planted light kisses all over her face as she snuggled up closer to him. They sat down next to each other, Eugene playing with her hair.

“You’re wanted again. Even more than before now. I have to make a new poster for you.” (Y/N) smiled mischievously as Eugene hummed in response. “Wanna model for me?” It was like night and day with how quick he switched; one moment Eugene is holding you in his arms and the next he’s already striking a pose.

You immediately ran off to get your supplies, sat on a stool, and got to work. “Don’t forget the smolder!” He teased.

“Ooooh don’t worry! I definitely won’t forget…,” she kept giggling under her breath. Eugene scrunched his eyebrows, becoming more confused and intrigued as she kept on giggling.

“What are you, uhhh, doing there? Hun? Love of my life? Light of my world? The one who’s totally not going to make me look like a dork on a poster that’ll be immortalized on thousands of papers for years to come?”

“Stop worrying! You look divine,” (Y/N) avoided the question.

After some time had passed she finally finished the picture. Eugene rushed over with a wide smile on his face only for it to immediately drop. Instead it was replaced with a pouty face and a loud huff. “You didn’t get my nose right.” (Y/N) kissed him on the cheek and skedaddled to the kitchen.

At first he said it in passing thought, but it wasn’t until after dinner, after his shower, and when he was lying in bed that he had a revelation.

“Since the beginning…it’s been you!” Queue your loud laughter booming through the night.

“Ooooh. No, no, no, no. Now, it’s on.”

“What is?”

“A prank war.”

Rapunzel ran her fingers through her golden locks nervously. It had been several weeks since Varian had helped defeat the Saporians and things had gotten much more normal. Or as normal as things could get. Varian was on their side again and he was happy and back with his dad. So why did Rapunzel still feel so anxious around the boy? Maybe it was the bad blood between them that had long since been resolved. A small part of the princess worried the sweet, clever alchemist had changed and in a few ways, he had. Rapunzel was drawn from her thoughts by a shrill screech from down the hall!

“AHHHAHAHA! SOMEONE HELP ME!!” The princess bolted down the hall to the source of Varian’s scream. He could be hurt, or in trouble, or worse! She threw open the door to Eugene’s room and what she saw was not at all what she had been expecting.

Varian was squirming and writhing as her boyfriend— tickled him? Sure enough, Eugene was pinning the alchemist down and mercilessly spidering his fingers along his stomach, sides, neck, and anywhere he could reach. Rapunzel smiled to herself. That was definitely the Varian she knew and loved.

“RAHAHAPUNZEHEHEL HEHELP!!” The purple clad princess look at Varian who was shrieking with laughter and pleading for her aid. She couldn’t help but giggle.

“What even is going on?” Eugene looked up at the sound of his girlfriend’s voice and paused his relentless attack on Varian’s stomach.

“Oh hi, Blondie. Just helping Varian here, loosen up a bit.”

Varian giggled, once he’d caught his breath enough to speak.

“He’s trying to kill me ‘cause his a jerk- WAIHAIAT, WAIT EUGENE I’M KIHIDDING! I’M KIHIHIHIDDING!!” Varian quickly crumpled back into fits of laughter as the ex-con man resumed his attack.

“Last I checked you were the one who asked for this Hairstripe. Literally.”

Rapunzel cocked her head to the side as she watched the adorable scene before her.

“So he likes it?”

Eugene flashed her a smirk and nodded, while Varian writhed beneath him.

“Yup. He doesn’t like to admit it though, but he loves it when I tickle him. Especially just like this.” Eugene demonstrated by vibrating his fingers against Varian’s stomach making him screech and bat him away half heartedly.

“DOHOHOHON’T SAHAHAHAY THAHAHAT WOHORD!” He screeched out, his face bright red. Whether it was from the teases or the tickling, no one was sure.

Eugene grinned evilly,

“What word? You don’t like it when I tickle, tickle, tickle you?”

Varian let out a strangled groan through his laughter. This was exactly how he died, he was sure of it.

“SHUHUHUT UHUHUP!”

“Uh, rude! How dare you!”

Rapunzel smiled again,

“I see. But you might wanna stop, Eugene. Don’t actually kill him.”

“PLEHEASE! LISTEN TOHOHO HEHEHER!” Varian’s giggles and laughter were starting to fade into silent hiccups. Eugene chuckled, but let the boy go.

Varian curled up in a giggly ball trying to rub the phantom tingles away.

“Thahat was sohoho mean.”

“Didn’t hear you ask me to stop, Goggles.” Varian flipped Eugene off in response, forgetting Rapunzel was still there. The princess cleared her throat. Varian squeaked and gave her a sheepish smile.

“Sorry, princess.” Rapunzel laughed softly.

“It’s okay, but if I catch that again I might just have to tickle you.”

Varian’s cheeks flushed bright red again.

“Trust me, Sunshine. He’ll love it.”

“Shut up, Fitzherbert!”

Rapunzel just shook her head fondly. Things may have changed, but Varian was still the same boy she knew. Just slightly different from before. But maybe the changes were for the better. The princess flinched drawn back to reality by a squeal.

“NOHOHOHT AGAHAHAIN!”

Rapunzel laughed and went to intervene.

“Look out boys, here I come!”

which. it’s a disney princess cartoon, of course the character writing isn’t good—except, in a lot of individual episodes in s1-2, the character writing is actually really fucking good, and even in s3 when the narrative finally cratered in on itself there are traces, fingerprints, pottery shards of a story that could have been incredible if it were not doomed from the start by the fact of it being a disney cartoon.

like.

the writing team behind tts looked at rapunzel. looked at tangled. this disney princess story about a girl who grew up alone in a tower with nobody but a lizard and her viciously cruel, manipulative, abusive kidnapper, this girl who in the film is portrayed as a pure, sweet, innocent ray of sunshine. right.

and they went: the ray of sunshine is a shield she does not know how to put down, and this girl learned ALL of her social skills from an emotionally abusive manipulator, and now she’s a princess and a myth and a miracle and there is only one person in this story who can meaningfully tell her no.

and then they went: let’s give her a best friend who’s a little bit older, ambitious, hard-working, socially deft, and common. let’s make that best friend her lady-in-waiting on top of being a maid, and miserable in both those roles because all she wants is to be a guard like her dad. and let’s really lean into how she cannot say no to the princess, who learned 100% of her social skills from mother fucking gothel.

the core conflict of every single keyframe episode in this show is about the slow and painful death of that friendship, by rapunzel’s hand, until cassandra goes fuck this and literally! LITERALLY! steals rapunzel’s destiny, steals her structural role as the protagonist of the story, and throws herself into the arms of an Actual Demon because the demon is the first!!! person she’s ever!!! met who treats cassandra like she’s worth anything outside of being an appendage of the lost princess. and it tailspins from there, but like—HELLO!?

rapunzel the disney princess of all time. she barbecues her best friend’s hand with a rotting curse by accident and then has a whole episode about aggressively Not Apologizing. cassandra ends up apologizing to HER! for lashing out after HOURS! of rapunzel trying to corner her into talking about it. (note, not in a protagonist-centered-morality way: the episode begins with putting the reality that cass is disabled now because of rapunzel front-and-center, portrays rapunzel’s anger at cass as irrational and unfair, and makes a point of having cass say she’s still angry at the end; all of this is meant to be the death knell of the friendship and the next thing that happens is the arc where the Actual Demon befriends cass by being nice to her.) it’s fucking GREAT.

Rapunzel flopped back on the sun-warmed lawn with a sigh, idly tracing wispy shapes in the cirrus overhead. She was an optimist by nature. Glasses were half full, every thunderhead had a silver lining, and even the most crotchety neighborhood grump could be won over with enough time and the right cupcakes (she would get through to Monty...eventually). Everything would *always* work out for the best. Which was fortunate, because-

“No *way* am I agreeing to that.”

“Yeah? Well no *way* am I taking my life in my hands and getting in a car with *you* behind the wheel.“

Because otherwise, she’d be worried.

Months of planning a cross country road trip, and she somehow hadn’t counted on Eugene and Cass going at it before they’d even left the driveway, butting heads over the all important question of who would drive the first leg of their trip.

“What, can’t stand the thrill of having a master behind the wheel?”

“More like I’d rather avoid the ‘thrill’ of speeding tickets and you nearly turning the car into an off-road vehicle at every literal turn.”

“Oh for the love of- that was one time! And that thing hardly counted as a ditch!”

“Enough of a ditch for me. Face it, Fitzherbert.” Cass crossed her arms smugly before Eugene could start on what exactly qualified as a ditch versus a very ambitious aspiring pothole. “Even your *girlfriend* doesn’t feel safe in a car you’re driving.”

Eugene scoffed, cocking a self-assured hand on his hip. “Shows how much *you* know. Tell our 'friendly' neighborhood Ice Demon, Blondie: I am a *fantastic* driver.”

Rapunzel blinked. “Uh.....” (not that she was taking sides, but she’d had drivers ed with Eugene his second time around).

Eugene gasped, knowing exactly what that very diplomatic “Uh...” meant coming from his girlfriend, and slammed an affronted hand to his chest. “Sunshine?!?”

Completely ignoring the theatrics, Cass dug into her pocket and whipped out a notepad. “We have an itinerary, Fotzherbert.” He stared unimpressed at the college-ruled sheets waving in his face. “And we need to stick to it if we want to hit all the places on Raps’ list.”

“I don’t mind if we skip-“ (honestly, Cass and her itineraries...).

“Which,” Cass continued undaunted. “We won’t do if you’re driving.”

“And what makes you so sure, Miss Can’t Make a Left Turn?”

Cass counted herself as the mature one (no matter how much Rapunzel tried to argue in her boyfriend’s favor), so she ignored that (Rapunzel too since, well, she’d also seen Cass drive). “Besides if you drive, even if we don’t get pulled over every five minutes, we’ll be getting off the freeway every ten miles for Lance’s ridiculous pet project!”

“Hey!” Lance looked up indignantly from where he was raiding the cooler (wait...wasn’t that supposed to be in the trunk?) “The Cross County McDonald’s tour is *not* ridiculous!”

(Again, not taking sides, but it quite honestly was)

“It’s the definition of ridiculous!” Cass rounded on him, oblivious to the face Eugene was pulling behind her back. “All McDonalds’ are the same *why* would anyone go out of their way to hit one in every city on our route?!?”

“And how do you know they’re the same?” Lance scoffed as he popped the tab on a Fanta. (Hmph, see if he let her get away with bad mouthing his scientific research...)

“Because that’s the whole point of a chain restaurant!!!”

“Then explain why the one the next town over has better Coke than ours, eh?”

“Better shakes too.”

“See?“ Cass snapped back to Eugene. “This is *exactly* why you’re not driving!”

“Ooh, hey, come to think of it Lance:” Unfazed by fury incarnate standing before him, Eugene shot an aggravating grin over Cass’s head at his friend. “Next town over has the better Starbucks too.”

You could *see* the lightbulb click on over Lance’s head as Cass slapped her palm across her face (how had she agreed to this...). “I can see it now:” He spread his arms theatrically, framing an imaginary billboard and nearly upending his can of soda in the process. “Cross Country McDonald’s *and* Starbucks tour!”

“Oh, *come on!* I am *not*-“

Rapunzel turned her attention back to the clouds with a sigh. She was an optimist. Things always worked out for the best, and this would too.

“We are *not* stopping for a macchiato on top of a Coke in every city! Do you have any idea how much caffeine tht would be?”

“So what I’m hearing is we *are* doing Lance’s McDonald’s thing?”

“I didn’t say that!!!”

Standing at the entrance to the church, the blonde froze. Her joyful beam frozen on her face, her eyes cracked. Looking around the whole of the hall, a heaven feeling pooled in her gut. Seeing the saddened looks upon the faces of her parents and the angered and broken ones of the ruffians the truth set in.

Clenching her fist, the bouquet crumpled in her grasp. Screaming through her ears all she could hear was her mothers words on repeat. Oh how she should’ve known this would have happened. She was far too naive and gullible. Falling for the charms of a thief was almost textbook.

The emotion in her chest twisted and shifted, a rage growing deep within her. The ray of sunshine that once made up her being now shriveling up. The feeling ran through her veins and her hair bled from her new brunette to the pitchest of blacks, the flowers in her grasp withering away to dust.

At the sight, the guests gasped and screamed in abject horror. An enraged scream tore from her lungs and shattered the windows of the building, shadow streaks escaping from her and staining the floor and pews closest to her in the familiar shape of the once golden sun. The sound rang from the church through the whole of the kingdom waiting outside for the happy nuptials of the couple that would never be bonded.
