I like what I've seen of Ahsoka show but IDK if anyone else feels this way but Ahsoka doesn't feel like Ahsoka to me? Idk if it's just that I'm too used to Ashley's voice acting or if the characterization just doesn't feel right to me. It might be a mix of both but Ahsoka is such an emotional character and to not get that vibe in this show is very jarring to me?

Now that the trailer is out, it's probably best that I get this out of the way before acolyte releases
The Jedi are right about the Force and the dark side
The Jedi did not lose their way
The Jedi were not corrupted
The genocide of the Jedi was not their fault
The Jedi are not wrong for being part of the Republic, it is in fact a good thing
The Jedi are not arrogant for thinking the sith are gone
and while we're at it the sith are evil, always, end of discussion
The Jedi do not steal children
If someone wants to leave the Jedi, that's allowed, no one will stop them
The Jedi are right about attachment
Attachment is not love (SW uses the Buddhist definition because Lucas is a Buddhist and the Jedi are based off Buddhist monks, Buddhism defines attachment as being possessive or unwilling to let go of people or things)
The Jedi do not forbid emotions, they forbid being controlled by your emotions, you must control them
The Jedi are not forbidden from loving people, nor are they celibate, they just can't get married (big whup) because their duties must come first
Being peacekeepers doesn't preclude the Jedi from fighting in war, sometimes to keep the peace you have to fight back, especially when its against tyranny, see WWII (or Ukraine today)
Gray jedi are not a thing
The Jedi are not slavers or complicit in slavery
Oh and of course, the Jedi are not elitists for not training non Force sensitives, (Han voice) that's not how the Force works, dave filoni broke the rules so he could shoehorn sabine into a Jedi (to give the benefit of the doubt, I do believe sabine's role as ahsoka's apprentice was meant for an original character but things got condensed by executives, so maybe filoni isn't entirely to blame here)
Feel free to add anything I forgot
Do not, DO NOT!! add anything Jedi critical, I'm done with it and won't hear it, don't have something nice to say? Then go away, I will block on sight, either reblog without comment (either in the reblog or the notes) or don't interact at all

my brain broke when Elly Arrow (radical feminist on YouTube) compared prostitution to the videos where people made homeless men fight and do humiliating things for money, which everyone knew was wrong, and asked why prostitution is fine if that’s not… light bulb moment

It's continuously frustrating that this show REFUSES to condemn Anakin for the things he's done or even really explicitly call him out on them, and they even go so far as to basically decide none of it even MATTERED.
But all they can say about the Jedi is that they failed.
When asked what Anakin was like, all Huyang says is that he was "intense."
The worst Ahsoka says is that he was "more dangerous than anyone realized" and then two episodes later she's calling him a "good master" despite everything he did to her and the rest of the galaxy. She never ONCE condemns him for committing a genocide against the Jedi and hunting them down for over two decades. She never ONCE condemns him for enslaving the clones and betraying their loyalty and using them as weapons against the Jedi they loved. She never ONCE condemns him for trying to personally kill HER.
He jokes with her, he gets to say that he wants to protect her, he gets to guide her into choosing to live, he makes recordings for her that she still uses years later. Anakin gets to be "more" than just his failures.
But the Jedi, somehow, do not. The Jedi are ONLY EVER their failures. Ahsoka never mentions them otherwise, she never remembers them fondly at all, she has no stories or connections about any of the other Jedi, she constantly disregards Jedi protcols as foolish and ridiculous at best.
The best thing they can say about the Jedi is that the "idea of them" had merit. But Anakin gets to be a GENUINELY good Jedi Master, more than just a good IDEA.
And this just feels like the WORST of double standards to me.

I'm definitely not having too many feelings about Rex and his ARCs, not at all. I'll one day even have the energy to make a full illustration to prove it too. But until then - more pose studies!

Ngl I think a lot of people, when they talk about Jedi and attachments and how "the Jedi should be allowed to have them," just plain ignore the single most important show of attachment in all of Star Wars.
Padme and Anakin.
Obviously people bring them up 24/7 when they want to bash the Jedi or pretend that Anidala is the epitome of a "healthy relationship" (lmao), but when it comes to the actual point of how their relationship is framed and how it highlights how attachment works/what it does---suddenly all the discussion around Anakin and Padme disappears!
Anakin's attachment to Padme and his unwillingness to let her go is LITERALLY what ends up killing her!!!
He has dreams of her dying, becomes convinced that those dreams are what's gonna happen (despite the unreliable nature of visions), and---instead of actually telling anyone anything in enough detail so they could actually help---he:
- Starts working with a Sith Lord
- Massacres a Temple full of children, the elderly, the injured, etc. and the people who were caring for them
- Helps commit a genocide
- Overthrows democracy
And then, once Padme won't support him vying for them to control the galaxy, he becomes convinced that she's betrayed him and attempts to kill her---then, later on, because of Anakin's actions Padme dies.
----------
THAT is what attachment is and what it does.
Attachment is being unable, unwilling, to let someone go, no matter what that might mean for you or them, because you don't want to go through life without them---and the people you try to hold onto so tight ultimately get crushed in your grip because of it.
Think of it like holding someone's hand.
Non-attachment would be, when the other person wants to stop, letting them slip away and being happy with what you had while you had it---being content whether they choose to stay by your side or run off to go do something else.
Attachment would be, when the other person tries to let go, tightening your grip or grabbing their wrist---hurting them because you don't want there to even be a chance that you would be without them.
----------
So no, the Jedi were not wrong to teach non-attachment and they should not have "changed their philosophies so they were allowed to have attachments" like some people have suggested, because attachment is unhealthy and selfish and all it does is end up hurting those around you.

not sure if this was intentional or not but nemik saying in his manifesto “Remember this: Try.” is an interesting sentiment given that “do or do not, there is no try” is like one of the more famous lines from the original trilogy

I love The Clone Wars series. I love the clones. I like both Rex and Cody. But since the very beginning of watching the series, I felt like smth was kind of off about them. Specifically, why do we have so much content about Rex? Why at least part of these clone-centric moments are not given to Cody? He was there first! He’s the only clone in the movies who has some semblance of characterization and he’s actually very important for Star Wars.
Like, the episodes about a clone deserter – why not give them to Cody instead of Rex? Why not use the 212th instead of the 501st? If you imagine Cody instead of Rex, the plot won’t change, the message of the episode won’t change – they both would have similar attitudes to the situation. But we would know more specifically about the most important clone of SW. And I’m not exaggerating this claim – Rex’s presence doesn’t change the movies narrative in any way. I’m not saying they should’ve cut him out completely – just divide some adventures between Cody and Rex.
Being a Filoni original character is very advantageous.

It just occurred to me why certain fans (particularly stanakins) have such rabid stupid hate boners for Reva...
It's because Reva does something rare for a higher canon character, she hates Anakin
See, hating Vader isn't uncommon in universe, most people do, but most aren't aware of anakin in the Vader equation, nor did they know him personally, and of the characters who know both anakin and Vader, most don't hate him
Yoda pities him
Obi-Wan is wrecked with guilt over him
Padme died believing in him
Luke loves him and still believes in him
Really the only one who hates anakin is Leia, but critically, this doesn't come up in higher canon, it's mostly a books/comics thing, the most we get of Leia's thoughts on anakin is shock and disbelief that he's her father in rotj
(Also I notice people give Leia a pass for hating anakin, a combination of "Leia's allowed because she's his daughter" and of course, racism, white characters are allowed to despise a white villain, but if a black character does then they're literally the worst)
But Reva hates anakin, hates him for what he did to her, to her family, for betraying the Jedi, and she's open about it, she doesn't care about the "good man" Anakin used to be like the others (minus Leia) above, she doesn't lend him sympathy
And that drives stanakins insane

the concept of "grey Jedi" doesn't work because the force is light and dark, not black and white. By definition, colour value might be a spectrum, but darkness is absence of light. Everyone is grey! Star wars has clearly implied that nobody is perfect and everyone comes in shades of of grey, everyone is flawed and imperfect. The jedi are all technically grey! However, they are "light" because they, as jedi, choose light, choose selflessness, choose goodness.
Textbook fandom interpretation of "grey jedi" is either A. Someone who uses both the dark and light side or B. Someone who is light and does good but doesn't follow the jedi order.
A. doesn't work, because the dark side isn't just defined by "being emotional" or "Thinking of yourself", it's literally stuff like murder and torture. You can't claim to be "good" or "light" or "better than everyone" while also condoning murder at the same time.
B. You don't have to be a jedi to use the force! You don't have to be a jedi to be in the light! Like it's not illegal, the jedi order respects non-jedi force users as long as they don't commit human rights violations! the Jedi are the majority of force users, but they're not the only ones who can use the force. The jedi themselves are aware that there are many different interpretations, and the only intervene when it. yknow. involves murder and torture and the like. calling non-jedi lightside users as "grey jedi" doesn't really make sense because they're... just technically normal jedi. And if they're not associating with the order, then they're just lightside force users that are not jedi? Why would they call themselves jedi if they themselves don't think they are jedi or associate with the jedi???
Like in Ahsoka's situation, she's not a "grey" jedi, she's a light force user that doesn't follow the jedi order. In fact, saying that she's a "grey" jedi is basically just saying that she's a regular jedi? That doesn't make her better or worse or special, disagreeing with the council doesnt make someone better or worse that the other- what does matter is her actual actions. Which, as aforementioned, is lightside. The jedi order is also light. They can coexist, yknow, one is not superior than the other, they're both light. And it's not uncommon for people to disagree with the council. That's the entire point of the jedi having a "council"- to provide different perepectives and healthy debate and come up with the best decision for everyone. You can't please everybody, that's entirely normal. There's a reason why the council discusses instead of having one person make all the choices. The jedi are people too, they're also flawed. You can be grey and choose light, that's what the jedi choose to do.
tldr everyone is already grey, but light and dark is a matter or choice.

The best part about the Obi-Wan Kenobi show as opposed to certain other Star Wars shows is that it actively and continuously recognizes the truth that the Original Trilogy set up from day one and that is that Obi-Wan Kenobi is just better than Anakin Skywalker in every way.

I continue to be on Senator Xiono's side over Hera's which is a REALLY frustrating position to be in.
Hera, you cannot tell Xiono that he isn't "seeing" the problem when you are literally SHOWING HIM NOTHING. You HAVE nothing to show, so how the FUCK could he see what isn't there? He's not omniscient, and if you have no proof of your claims, why SHOULD he believe you? Just because you used to be a Rebel? They've stated that you are personally invested in this mission, you've used Republic resources like six times to go on a mission that is basically just so you can try to find one person you care about and failed six times, you apparently repeatedly disrespect the orders you're given from Republic leadership, so why should Xiono just... trust you?
This is SO frustrating because it makes NO FUCKING SENSE for Hera to be getting all high and mighty about this when Xiono's RIGHT to question her. This would be a way more interesting plot if it wasn't being presented as just "Hera vs. The Asshole Senator" but an actual nuanced storyline where Hera and Xiono are BOTH RIGHT. Thrawn IS out there and he IS a threat, but Xiono is ALSO right to point out that Hera's abusing Republic resources and disrespecting Republic resources for a personal agenda and has no proof of her own claims.
They COULD'VE gone down the route that Hera is so caught up in this mission that she's sort-of losing her perspective and is now reaping the consequences of those choices. Maybe we see a role reversal where it's SABINE who is trying to talk Hera into being more reasonable about it and let Ezra go or something. But noOoOoOoOo we HAVE to have this whole terrible storyline about how the New Republic SUCKS and is basically the Empire by another name and everyone who runs it are IDIOTS or lazy rich assholes who will drive it into the ground in a few years. Individually, some of the New Republic people are okay, but as an organization, it's too flawed and it needed to catch up with the times to keep from falling.
Sound familiar?
