#the jedi were right

Now that the trailer is out, it's probably best that I get this out of the way before acolyte releases
The Jedi are right about the Force and the dark side
The Jedi did not lose their way
The Jedi were not corrupted
The genocide of the Jedi was not their fault
The Jedi are not wrong for being part of the Republic, it is in fact a good thing
The Jedi are not arrogant for thinking the sith are gone
and while we're at it the sith are evil, always, end of discussion
The Jedi do not steal children
If someone wants to leave the Jedi, that's allowed, no one will stop them
The Jedi are right about attachment
Attachment is not love (SW uses the Buddhist definition because Lucas is a Buddhist and the Jedi are based off Buddhist monks, Buddhism defines attachment as being possessive or unwilling to let go of people or things)
The Jedi do not forbid emotions, they forbid being controlled by your emotions, you must control them
The Jedi are not forbidden from loving people, nor are they celibate, they just can't get married (big whup) because their duties must come first
Being peacekeepers doesn't preclude the Jedi from fighting in war, sometimes to keep the peace you have to fight back, especially when its against tyranny, see WWII (or Ukraine today)
Gray jedi are not a thing
The Jedi are not slavers or complicit in slavery
Oh and of course, the Jedi are not elitists for not training non Force sensitives, (Han voice) that's not how the Force works, dave filoni broke the rules so he could shoehorn sabine into a Jedi (to give the benefit of the doubt, I do believe sabine's role as ahsoka's apprentice was meant for an original character but things got condensed by executives, so maybe filoni isn't entirely to blame here)
Feel free to add anything I forgot
Do not, DO NOT!! add anything Jedi critical, I'm done with it and won't hear it, don't have something nice to say? Then go away, I will block on sight, either reblog without comment (either in the reblog or the notes) or don't interact at all

ID: a traditional pencil sketch of Jaina Solo from Star Wars Legends. She is portrayed as a young girl, about 12 or 13, she is sitting in a window, turned to the side, crossing her arms with one leg bent in front of her and the other hanging loosely of the edge. Her hand is holding her lightsaber loosely and she is scowling a little, like she's frustrated about something, and looking off in to the distance . Instead of her normal flight suit she is wearing a long dark shirt with a light vest and pants, and a belt fastened around her waist.
End ID
Baby Jaina, what's she angry about? (Probably the fact I drew her with a crappy pencil)

If you don't feel sad at all that the Jedi die at the end of ROTS, you've missed the entire point of the story. If you aren't even a LITTLE bit mad at Padme and Ahsoka for the choices they make regarding Anakin, you've missed the point. If you don't question Padme and Ahsoka's judgment and compare their relationship to Anakin with the relationship the people of the Republic have to the Senate, you've missed the point.
You're overlooking the nuance of the story entirely if you DON'T feel sad and angry about the choices being made by these characters and the consequences it has on the world around them.

Dani in The Clone Wars
I just love the idea of Dani falling into the Star Wars universe (or alternatively the Star Wars universe is the same universe as the Danny Phantom universe they just happen to be in different parts of the universe) and meeting the clones. Cause like she’s a clone too. And not just any clone but a (technically) “defective” clone that originally had unstable DNA.
Like she meets the clones and just basically unknowingly trauma dumps on them. Just like “yeah I’m a clone to. I was supposed to be a boy but somehow came out a girl. And my genetic structure was super unstable for the first year of my life and I almost melted into a puddle of ectoplasmic goo because of it. But then my original Danny was able to stabilize me. My creator Vlad tried to kill me multiple times too. And also I’m the only surviving clone, all the other were to unstable and melted into goo!”
And the clones are all just horrified. Cause like A. She’s the only surviving clone of her batch and all her batch mates died. B. She was originally genetically unstable and for them something like that would have gotten them decommissioned, something her creator attempted to do to her but her original stopped it and saved her! And C. she’s just this tiny little child whose only like two-ish years old and she’s already been through so much!
The clones all make the executive decision to adopt her as their little sister! She’s now one of them! They will protect her with everything they’ve got!! And Dani just adopts them back. And she is a tiny little feral gremlin child, spirits have mercy on the souls of anyone who fucks with her clone brothers because she sure as hell won’t!!!

Okay here are my many, many thoughts on Jedi Survivor. I'll keep the spoilers beneath the cut, so all who venture forward have been warned!
The way the game started out was so fun!! The stealth heist! The crew members Cal was teaming up with! Being on CORUSCANT of all places!
I really, really love the gameplay over all. It felt like they took the last game and just improved these tiny little details that I remember from the first one. Tiny things that would seem stupid but also made the game play that much smoother!
KOBOH MY BELOVED IT'S SO MASSIVE SO BEAUTIFUL SO GORGEOUS I LOVE IT THERE VERY VERY MUCH
Also I don't know who decided we should get Fast Travel but I would die for them
I'll probably make a separate post about this, but Cal introduced BD-1 to almost everyone he met-- ALMOST. Not Dagan, and not a couple other people that it was clear he didn't trust. And I for one LOVE that detail
Jedha was so fun other than the fact that I almost died every fifteen seconds
CERE!!!!!!!!! AND MASTER CORDOVA!!!!! WORKING TOGETHER!!!!! WITH THE HIDDEN PATH!!!!!
The Merrical was *chef's kiss* absolutely amazing. They are so April and Andy from Parks and Rec I love them
As a fan of the High Republic books, I thought the Nihil references, along with Dagan Gera and Santari Khri, were pretty neat! He was a fun villain to fight
I really really loved... pretty much all the Greez content? How happy he was to see Cal, and the fact that he had a room set aside for him, and the fact that he ventured back out into the fight just to keep Cal safe. I was mostly neutral on him during JFO, but Battle Scars made me really, really love him, and this game definitely built on that! Also I love that he named his saloon after his grandma (I think?)
Rayvis was an interesting villain! I liked him a lot, especially the final battle with him. They did a good job developing his character
Speaking of villains... I do be feeling some emotions about Cal's fight with Masana Tide. I'm a redemption arc girlie at heart, what can I say? But I see why they did what they did
RICK THE DOOR TECHNICIAN MY BELOVED
THE PONCHO!!!!!!!! THERE WAS A PONCHO!!!!!! I GOT TO WEAR MY BOSS BATTLE OUTFIT TO THE FINAL FIGHT!!!!! IT WAS AMAZING
That one scene where the whole crew was at the campfire together and for like five minutes it felt like everything was going to be okay warmed my heart so much
Yeah I don't remember what happened after that (obvious lie)
I like the new open world features, and the bounties you get to hunt, and the customization and stuff! And those Force tear things are terrifying, but I've completed two of them, and plan to do more as time goes on!
Kriff. Okay I gotta talk about the Horrors at some point. Thanks to my lack of self control, I'd seen some spoilers and knew that Bode was gonna betray us. I didn't know about Cordova (sad) and I didn't know about Bode's secret (SO MUCH SHOCK THAT WAS AN AMAZING PLOT TWIST)
I will say, Cere's final battle against Vader was SO FREAKING COOL IT WAS AWESOME PLAYING AS HER
I also love the fact she set Vader on fire. It's ironic
AULSDKFJLSDKJFLSDKJFLSDKJF AND HER LAST WORDS REALLY JUST SHOT ME IN THE CHEST I'M FINE OKAY I'M FINE (more lies)
Uhhh the Tanalorr plot line was pretty cool! I like the idea of there being somewhere safe from the Empire, to prevent Cal from being killed for plot convinience
Bode's betrayal... yeah I'm not gonna talk about that. I'm not ready, and honestly I have an objectively awful take on the whole situation that no one will like
OKAY THE SCENE WHERE BD-1 REUNITED WITH CAL AFTER HE CHASED AFTER BODE AND JUST LAUNCHED HIMSELF INTO CAL'S ARMS I DON'T THINK ENOUGH OF YOU GUYS KNOW THAT I WOULD DIE FOR THIS DROID
The part where BD-1 was going to scan the trontoshell, and Cal called him BD and THEN BD-1 like he was his mom, full naming him into safety. I love it so much
OH ALSO BD AND KATA'S DYNAMIC IS SO HECKING CUTE
(can you tell I love BD-1?)
I also really, really loved Merrin's entrance. Ten out of ten, the only thing I would change is that Cal should have immediately proposed
Oh! And Merrin and Kata's relationship is so fun I really really like it
Ummm yeah I think I've addressed everything there is to talk about (the most obvious lie yet) so yeah! The brainrot is still strong with me so I might end up posting some screenshots and more thoughts later on!

I've been thinkin' too many thoughts about the clones recently...anyways...
If it had never been acknowledged in universe…I think I might’ve been able to ignore how unbelievably fucked up the whole clone army concept is
I might’ve been able to accept it as just a convenient plot point for the republic to have an army to use
That’s what most stories do…they use a faceless army of “disposable” soldiers so that viewers don’t get too upset when so many die in battles
It’s what keeps those stories from feeling too dark
Hell, the stormtroopers from the OT are one of the most famous examples of that
But the thing is…it is acknowledged in universe
Multiple characters on multiple occasions have pointed the fucked-up-ness of it all
Even Obi-Wan in the AOTC novel is kinda horrified at the concept when he sees the clones for the first time
And it’s soooo hard to look past that
Especially with the jedi…I find it so hard to accept that the jedi are able to just ignore and accept it once the army proves to be useful
And like, yeah, when I look at star wars as a whole I understand that a lot of inconsistencies like this are just an inevitability with massive franchises
But it gets super frustrating to hold onto my suspension of disbelief capabilities when these problems are literally mentioned to and acknowledged by the jedi
Especially because I mostly love the jedi

It's weird that "the Jedi couldn't change/adapt with the times" is such a common and accepted as true criticism of the Jedi
1. The Jedi are very adaptable
2. They did not need to change
3. No changes would have saved them
As we see from basically everything, but especially in the post Order 66 era, the Jedi are very capable of adapting themselves and their training methods when circumstances require it
Which brings me to the second and third (abd a pseudo fourth) points
There was nothing wrong with the Jedi practice and no changes to them would have saved the Jedi
The Jedi practices worked, they have always worked, for thousands of years they worked, there's no reason to change them
And no changes to how the Jedi do things would have changed the fact that they were put into a situation of terrible choices with the endgame being their destruction, no change would have made them more in tune with the Force and allowed them to see the sith's conspiracy
Tumblr media
Which brings me to a pseudo fourth point
People treat the sith changing tactics against the Jedi and using infiltration and destroying the Republic from within as an instant win, that the meer fact of it alone caused their victory
No
It took effort, it relied on avoiding conflict with the Jedi nine times out of ten, it required luxk, it took a thousand years to get the galaxy to the state they needed it to be, very nearly failed at the last minute, and the plan that took a millennia was undone in a quarter century

Rambles about the recent TBB episodes, actually mostly just episode 10 "Identity Crisis" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This episode really reminded us that the Empire is fucking evil. Kidnapping Force Sensitive children? Testing and experimenting on them? I'm shocked. Jk, no I'm not, of course they're doing this. And of course Cad Bane is the one doing it, the prick.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Emerie: Why children? Are there not adults that could serve this purpose? Hemlock: There are few adults left with such characteristics No, really? Gee, I wonder why.. /s Could it be because the Empire had them all murdered and genocided? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And it further reminded us that Force Sensitive kids are in constant danger from being stolen and shit. I mean, gee, it's almost like one of the points of the Jedi Order was to prevent shit like from happening!!!! As proven in the TCW season 2 episode, "Children of the Force"!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These poor kids deserve so much better than this! All I can think about is how terrible it is that they're in this place, that they're being treated this way. I also think about how these kids could've/would've maybe been Jedi Younglings if things had gone differently.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I did, though, like seeing Emerie start to realize things. Seeing that what Hemlock is having done to the kids is wrong, that the kids are there at all is wrong. I liked the little peak into her backstory too. And seeing her want to try and help those kids. I really hope she has the full change of heart and maybe helps rescue them and Omega. That would be nice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To finish: Justice for these Kids. With Emerie's help.

Because I’m apparently back on my bullshit I would fucking love it if star wars fans would actually listen to Asian fans when we tell you “no, that’s not what attachment means.”
And for the record, don’t give me some bullshit about how “well George Lucas was white and he was writing for a western audience” with the implication that therefore you don’t have to examine the source of what he appropriated - which is an actual fucking take someone said to my face. If you don’t see how breathtakingly racist that is I don’t know what to tell you. Lucas’s racism does not give you permission to be racist; not to perpetuate the same racism, and not (often, I find) to be actively more racist than Lucas ever was. You want to call yourself an anti-racist ally? Put in the work. You have a responsibility to make space for us and let us reclaim stories that couldn’t exist without us.
If you’re just ignorant, I’m sympathetic - but that sympathy ends when people actively try to educate you and you refuse to listen. I cannot count the amount of times I have had people double down and make fandom spaces actively hostile for me and other Asian fans. (People tried to doxx a friend of mine about this - ironically right as Stop Asian Hate was picking up and the same people claimed to support it with their whole chests.)
Anyways, there isn’t a concrete end to this. This is a rant, more than anything else. I don’t know what else to say other than it’d be nice if people stopped demonizing something that’s part of a real life culture and claiming it: 1) impossible to live by (wrong! Do you know how many Buddhists there are?), and 2) something people actively deserve to be killed for if they believe (because yes, that is what you’re saying when you claim the Jedi “deserved to fall”). What you’re advocating is genocide, and I think it’s plenty fair for the real life people who belong to the real life cultures Lucas used to build the Jedi to get fucking scared when we hear that.
