From above, the ocean looks blue and perfect, it’s hard to imagine it any other way. The moment you go beneath the surface and succumb to the sea, you see it for what it really is. There’s very few untouched marine areas that remain pristine… the rest are suffering. The majority of the planet is covered in water, and although we spend a majority of our lives on land it is essential we do our part to protect what provides for us. Most of the oxygen you breathe won’t be around in our lifetime if we don’t save the reefs and marine life! The apex predators of the ocean, sharks, are in critical danger and need our attention. 70-100 million sharks are killed annually, primarily for shark fin soup. Think about that number… sharks have been around longer than dinosaurs and in the matter of a couple hundred years we are sending them to extinction. The media slanders sharks reputation to capitalize off selling fear but that misconstrued portrayal has left people blind to the truth that we need them for the survival of our ocean ecosystems.
