kinda insane that we got a shot of loki looking at sylvie's frozen face right before we get lokius' goodbye and how it overlaps with mobius saying "what are you going to do" which is exactly the reason loki is there, to ask him about what they should do. if you compare that scene with original one it's legitimately insane how much has changed. how loki doesn't hesitate to ask for help and how mobius doesn't hesitate to give it to them. how open and vulnerable and defeated loki is, whereas in the original they're angry and manic and scared and trying very hard to hide it with their anger. how in s2 we have closer shots, creating a more intimate feel while in s1 there's a clear distance both within the shots and between them. s1 loki is guarded and have their arms crossed over their chest the whole conversation while s2 loki instantly relaxes their arms as they see mobius and gesture with their hands and remain open because it's mobius they're talking to, no matter what time. the miles of differences between the two scenes are truly is so telling of how much loki trusts mobius and how much he came to mean to them. also crazy to me that mobius was the only one they went out of their way to say goodbye to. like it's canon that while yes loki went for help to mobius they already knew what they had to do, they just needed the finally push from mobius and. they wanted to say goodbye. what the fuck.

What are some of your best and worst Brettsey moments?
What are some moments that inspire you to write or make you write because things need to be changed?
What are some storylines you wish the show had exploded with Matt and Sylvie as individuals and Brettsey?
Or times when the writers could have gone deeper?
Is there anything you want to write but feel apprehensive about or feel like you can't get it right?
Now that the Caseys have left Chicago I can answer this one. 🥺 Been saving it.
It’s so hard to narrow down BEST moments. I love the “You’re a little extra that way” conversation, Sylvie’s confession of feelings from 9x16, their love scene from that same episode, the first kiss in 9x02, and the eye contact at Molly’s from 9x02 as well. There’s more but those are the first ones that come to mind. Of course now I have to consider the BEAUTY that was their wedding ep which gave us SO MUCH. Their vows were perfect. Making out in the turn out room, also perfect. Sylvie escaping/running for her life and Matt tackling the guy and holding Sylvie for dear life after, again perfect.
As for worst, I’d say anything out of character. Matt’s 10x22 “I don’t know” always makes me mad because there’s no way someone who loves Sylvie as much as he does wouldn’t reassure her in that moment. The way the break up was orchestrated in 11x01 with Sylvie comparing her relationship to Violet’s or Stellaride’s or even Kyle’s, Matt and she not talking for two weeks — all of it felt forced and weird. Sylvie doesn’t normally compare herself to others like that and Matt wrote Sylvie a LETTER and put it in the mail in S10 when they kept missing each other. I’d say those.
I think a lot of what inspires me to write is less things that need to be changed and more things that need to be explained. Like the break up in 11x01 and Matt’s “I don’t know” in 10x22. Both those things made me want to dig in and take something that feels OOC to me and elaborate on it. That happened to me in S9 a lot. I wanted to really explore their perspectives, thoughts, traumas, and emotions in a way TV just doesn’t have a lot of time to do.
The biggest one for me is the trauma that resulted from Arnow. Matt’s guilt over Sylvie being hurt and Otis. Sylvie’s grief over losing Otis and exploring that grief as part of the reason she didn’t realize things with Kyle wouldn’t work sooner than she did. I feel like there was some excellent material there that could have been mined for them. The other one, that I was convinced the show was saving for the dating Brettsey era that we never really got, was meeting Brett’s birth father. After everything she went through with Julie, how would that go? Would he be as lovely as Julie was? How would Matt help her through it?
Times when the writers could have gone deeper for me is always going to be exploring trauma. I wanted to know more about Matt’s relationship with his dad. We saw Nancy and we heard about his dad from her but what were Matt’s memories like? How did he remember him? Also why didn’t Christie share Matt’s opinion on their mom or see the abuse? Was their dad partial to Christie? And for Sylvie, I wanted to know more about Harrison and Hope and how that dynamic shaped a young Sylvie. Harrison and Hope were clearly the gaslighting types and if those people were her childhood best friend and high school sweetheart then there must be more emotional abuse that she didn’t reconcile until after they were gone. I also would have liked to have actually met her parents or her brother.
As far as things I want to write but can’t, I have had an idea for a regency Brettsey AU FOR YEARS. I am not great with historical fiction/romance though so I’ve never seriously attempted to write it. But man do I want to. I think it would be full of so much yearning and tenderness.
Hopefully I answered all the questions you had! I LOVED THESE QUESTIONS. My favorite part of writing fanfic of these two is trying to get inside these people’s heads. They’re complicated and loving and generous but also have experienced great tragedies and faced abuse from people they loved. The fact that they find solace and safety in each other is breathtaking to me and so well deserved.

tbh, i think the whole thought process behind how sylvie is written is that she is not attached to loki and her happiness doesn't at all depend on him in any way.
was their connection deep? did he impact her? "shatter" her world even? yes. this is why she is so angry at him. bc in her mind, he had betrayed her.
but he doesn't take up much more space in her mind. she goes on to live her life just fine without him at the end of both seasons.
loki is a different story, he is obsessed with her to the point of doing something completely "out of character" and being ready to sacrifice everything for her.
i personally love how "unequal" their relationship is in this way, but i understand that it's not the majority of shippers' cup of tea kind of dynamic.
this is an interesting interpretation! i enjoy getting to hear people's differing takes on their dynamic, so this was a fun read. and hey if unrequited is your trope then all the more power to you. you're braver than me, that's for sure.
i haven't rewatched s2 (and tbh idk if i ever will- it just didn't do it for me the way i wanted it to) but the consensus that "loki fell first and harder" def seems supported by s1 and enhanced by s2. which i think made it all the more shocking when she kisses him first. i love that little detail.
i have a different take, which is informed by episode 5- particularly the bar scene contrasted with the record shop scene. she tells him to go and live his life and move on, then immediately goes to a record shop, tells the man at the counter she had a bad day, and then cries to the velvet underground (it looked like crying, also possible she was just laying there and basking it all in, which is just as compelling in my opinion).
Tumblr media
to me that read as someone who is trying so hard to place their feelings in a convenient little box and ignore them and then running away when it doesn't work.
sylvie doesn't strike me as someone who can sit still, especially not after living through a million apocalypses and trying to ensure her survival. and while getting a job in oklahoma might not be the same frantic pace she's used to, i do think she threw herself into it (employee of the month placard i'm looking at you!) so she has a new life, a new job, time to do things like go to the bar and get a haircut and listen to music and do everything possible to just. not. process. the annoying feelings that the citadel situation brings up. just keep moving! just don't think about it! and so when loki rolls up at her work, she tries to push him away, tell him he's the last thing she wants to deal with, get him to leave. the tone in the bar scene felt like that to me as well. like she's saying just leave me so i can stop thinking about this.
of course, loki does not want to leave her- it's just that for some reason he is physically incapable of talking about anything but the TVA, who ruined her life and she justifiably wants nothing to do with hearing about how great they actually are. he is pretty skilled at killing the mood. (i take great pleasure in rewrite fics that make a show of addressing this)
am i blinded by shipping goggles and my own projection onto her? it's possible! but to me it read as someone in denial. when we hear sylvie talk about her love life on the train in s1 (a scene i LOVE because it seems so out of left field for her) we get a very clear sense she has no idea what she is doing when it comes to romance (and then flat out says so during the blanket scene). her experience with romance hasn't been anything real, to the point where i hesitate to even use the term "romance"- just centuries of numbing herself by staying busy with a fling. she is like a shark that will just collapse if she stops moving. which we get to see her do in the record store!
that's just how i read it though! your read on it is just as valid and i like hearing all of the different takes. i am by no means trying to persuade you to join my pining sylvie agenda, just using this blog as a means of idea exchange. which i love doing. seriously it's so fun.

My dude...You know he was talking about the scene where Loki was looking at everyone but mostly Mobius when Loki said, "It's about who" right? Like the last person he looks at is Mobius before saying that. Sylvie wasn't even a person he looked at for very long in that scene. Sometimes I think Sylki fans are really deluded or just pick the weirdest scene to focus on. And then in ACTUAL Sylki scenes in this season they just go: "Oh that was lame! Or that doesn't matter" What is up with you guys???
I'm assuming this is about my last sylki post about Isaac Bauman's interview. In which case, my dude, you should go re-read the interview because he is talking about the scene in 2x06 when Loki sacrifices himself and even then the quote is more about Loki's character arc as a whole. It had nothing to do with the 'it's about who' scene in ep 5.
But seeing as you brought that scene up lets talk about it, I've been meaning to make a post about that scene anyway. My first question though is, so what if he looked at Mobius last? I'll never understand why you are so fixated on that. If I gather my four siblings in a room and say "I love you guys" and then look at my youngest sibling last that doesn't mean I love my youngest sibling more or less than the others. Loki's comment was about all of them not about any one person more than anyone else. The pause after looking at mobius wasn't because he was lovingly lingering on him, it was because he was in the middle of a thought process, he also pauses and stares at OB for a long time before that when talking about controlling his time-slipping, I don't see anyone suggesting that means Loki is in love with OB and it was because of him that Loki learnt to control the time-slipping because he looked at OB last and for the longest. He looks at OB when he says he controlled the time-slipping and when he says its not about 'where when or why' because it was a continuation of the conversation they had earlier. The same with when he turns to look straight at Sylvie when he says 'I can rewrite the story', because it was a throwback to their conversation in the bar where she talked about them writing their own stories. Earlier in the episode Mobius and Loki were having alot of conversation round who. Who he was, mobius or don, who loki was, a friend, even who OB was, also a friend. But it is also made clear that don was trusting Loki and going with him for his boys, that was who he was doing it all for. Therefore when Loki looks at mobius whilst he is figuring out that its about who he is doing it for not why he is doing it, its because of that connection between don doing it for his sons acting as a reminder, not because Loki has romantic feelings for Mobius. So the basic progression of that scene is Loki looking at OB, remembering the talk about where, when and why and realising that's not the answer, then panning over the others and landing on Mobius/Don and remembering that Don was doing this for his boys which prompts Loki to realise he needs to focus on who he is doing it for not why he is doing it. Lastly he turns to Sylvie, recalls the conversation about writing your own story and realises that he can rewrite the story.
But what is funny about this is that question of who Loki is referring to when saying 'it's about who' has already been answered by the head writer, so here's your answer:
Fans have strong opinions when it comes to relationships on this show. When Loki realizes he can control his time slipping, he says it’s not about the what, why, and where; it’s about the “who.” Is there a specific “who” that triggers this power, or is he referencing everyone he cares about in that statement?
No, no, I think it’s A and B, right? I think it’s both or all of the above because this is Loki’s found family, right? And they dematerialize before his very eyes, and he’d already had that realization that this is why he’s been doing it. Because of them. He needed them, he wanted them, and then they don’t even get to go back to their lives. Everything falls apart. He’s lost everything, and then Sylvie is the last… she’s the capper on that. I think that’s meaningful. I think they have a deep connection, and that’s the final thing of like, “Oh, I lose her too?” Everything is gone. He’s lost it all. And I think it’s the totality of that that comes together, and it just gives him that power. He centers, and he can do the thing now.
So the 'about who' comment was about all of them but its also confirmed that it was the realisation that he was also losing Sylvie that was the final trigger that helped him control the time-slipping. Worth noting that Sylvie is the only one that Eric (the head writer) individually singles out, you'd think if Mobius was the most significant part of the 'about who' line the head writer would have mentioned him here, in this question about relationships, so make of that what you will I guess.
Moving on to your next grievance, I can't speak for all Sylkis but I personally never said that any of the sylki scenes were lame or that they didn't matter, I loved every scene we got between them, as I wrote in many of the sylki posts I've posted. If other sylki shippers are upset with their scenes then they are allowed to be, there is no rule in shipping that says you have to like every single scene between your ship. Also its a bit rich of you to say sylki shippers focus on the 'weirdest scenes' when loki and mobius shippers also hyper fixate on the smallest of details and try to make any vague comment any of the cast and crew say about l*kius. But to answer your question, what's up with us guys? Just regular shipping behaviour, ya know, analysing every word, action and look between our ship and gushing about how much we love them, making pretty gif sets and fanart, like every other shipper out there, at the end of the day it's what shippers do, so why are you mad that sylki shippers do it too?
As for Sylki shippers supposedly being delusional, well so far the writers and the executive producer have all confirmed that both season 1 and 2 was driven by the sylki romance, they confirmed that even if their relationship was messier in season 2 it was still a romance and it was still Loki's feelings for Sylvie that was driving his actions. Michael Waldron the head writer for season 1 even said that the sylki romance was the crux of his pitch for the series and talks about them falling in love with each other, Kevin Wright the EP said that Loki deeply loves Sylvie. I mean you've got every person with creative control over the show practically screaming that one, Loki and Sylvie are in love, and two, that their relationship is integral to the show.
Meanwhile you've got those same people saying that Loki and Mobius were written as friends and that it was never intended to be anything other than that, because that is the importance of their relationship, their friendship. Just like how Sylvie is his first real love, as Waldron put it, Mobius becomes his first real friend and it's just as important as the sylki relationship, because they both show how Loki opened up his heart to another person but in different ways. The difference is that with Mobius it was platonic and with Sylvie it's romantic.
Yet despite all of this being made very clear in both the show and by those creatively responsible for it, you think us Sylki shippers are the deluded ones? Sure Jan.
Look, to be clear, I don't have a problem with anyone shipping Loki and Mobius, if shipping them makes you happy then I am happy for you, I've always been a big supporter of doing what makes you happy. What I do have a problem with though are those few who tag inaccurately and who jump into sylkis inboxes or comments and call them deluded for shipping the canon ship of the show, amongst other insults. So enjoy your ship, I mean that sincerely, just keep it in your own tag and out of my inbox, please and thank you.

why does answer time treat beep like total garbage, for real
I don't think it does actually. Sure, she is the butt of a lot of jokes, but that does not necessarily mean the show treats her bad. She's the result of a normal person being placed in a hyperactive and wacky world. She is going to be roughed up in that environment.
Tumblr media
There are a lot of characters being tossed around in both AT and ATS, but I never see anyone complaining about Bing being literally baked into a chocolate bar, Bo being thrown around a construction site, Bang's whole endeavor in Emmett's place or Boop being tied to a rocket and blowing up. Not to mention the entire intro is them flying through the air and hitting their head on a target. They all get their fair share or being smacked around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are all equal lol, it is just more obvious with Beep because the head on her shoulders is just too good. I honestly feel more sympathy for Boop and Bo cuz they have it worse imo, but that is just me.
Just some thoughts tho, feel free to disagree. Have a great day^^

Regarding kelly being dumb in early season 9: I laughed at the loft scene where casey and sev tried to talk about their relarionship problems but ended the scene basically not knowing how to help the other
we love two idiotic best friends! it’s funny how they both tried giving the other relationship advice when they both were acting stupid themselves.

would you be ok with your best friend and your ex husband getting married?
Correction, this should read: would you be ok with your ex best friend and your ex husband getting married?
Gabby lost any rights to being Sylvie's best friend when she left her, just like leaving Matt made the divorce happen.
Regardless, it doesn't matter if Gabby would be okay with it - she simply does not get an opinion. She lives somewhere else, they're not in contact, they've all moved on. And if Gabby hears about it and gets upset well so what? She's no longer an important person to them, so while she does have the right to be upset (because even though she left them humans still get the right to have complicated feelings on matters) that rightly so does not have any right to influence and jeopardise Sylvie and Matt's love.
Now if Sylvie and Matt were expecting Gabby to still be in their lives, to be at the wedding and all that jazz, they'd have no right to do so. But they're not. So this question really isn't relevant.
Also, I mean this comment is also not relevant but I'm going to say it anyway: I'm doing a rewatch right now and honestly? Gabby isn't even that great of a friend to Sylvie. She has less scenes with Stella than she does Gabby in the gabby seasons, but those scenes come off as a much more equal and pure friendship than Gabby and Sylvie. So while (beyond Shay, obviously) Gabby could say that Sylvie is the best friend she's ever had, I don't believe Sylvie could say the same, even in retrospect looking back on those years with Gabby.

you are rusty, an instrument that has not played itself in some time. the caress of hands on your fluted steel is foreign - you flinch as you realise that the notes are off key. you try to tune yourself again.
you are not quite reaching the sibylline heights that you used to idle above with your pretty lyrics. it is okay, you chant. let me be kind to myself. it's been so long since I have sung my stories. let me be kind to myself. there is no tear shed without reason.
you are a musical little box, opening up. and so what if it had been dusty for a while? so what if the ballerina's spin is a little crooked? there is heritage in it, this ceaseless grace of weighted things. you are here now and your rust will gradually be scrubbed clean.
soon, soon, soon, the tarnish will be gone. you will be whole again. and even in the moments your momentum is lost to the gently falling dust, the reaction of oxygen and water with metal, you are living, and that is why you change. you are living. someday there will be the change that will gratify you for the better.
everything feels a little bit stiff, a little bit off-kilter. my fingers are a little clumsy; my voice is a little hoarse; my words are little stilted. but they're here. and i'm here.
sometimes a favourite old blanket is just as you remember it, all soft and warm and encompassing, wrapped around you just like it was all those years ago. sometimes it is threadbare and too-small now, but that doesn't make it any less dear. you can wash it clean again. you can wrap it over your shoulders, if not your whole body. it's still here. and you're still here.
at the end of the day, isn't that all we have? isn't that all that matters? we walk back to familiar streets and find them changed, or find ourselves changed, or both. we still get to choose what that means now. we try, and we change, and we try again. the world tries, and the world changes, and the world tries again.
i'm still here. you're still here. the world is still here. we are all still trying. we are all still changing. we are all still living.

Would that mean that loki is also useless in the series?
Yes. Post episode 3, Loki contributes very little to the story. They put him in the void so that way they can use him as a time filler so Sylvie and mobius can catch up. The scene with all the other Loki's was meant to waste time. Loki is the title character, but he is not the main character in the series.
A lot of the time, the main character is intentionally set up to be the reason the plot finishes. That's why they're the main character. They're important. Loki in the series isn't. Sylvie is. Her goals, her needs, her wants -- that is what drives the plot forward, and ends it. She is the reason season 1 ends. Main characters are the main character for a reason. Secondary characters should have wants and goals, that's not the problem.
The problem is that in focusing so much on Sylvie's, the series kind of forgot about Loki's.
