Look. I really don't like John Walker but I totally understand his anger during his trial (which wasn't even a trial, the decision was already made).

"I only ever did what you asked, what you told me to be and trained me to do, and I did it. And I did it well !"

He works for the Army since so long and he obeyed orders properly and he rose to the top by doing so many unspeakable and horrible things ( "three badges of excellence to make sure I never forget the worst day of my life" S1:E4). I'm sure he has hard time to sleep at night but he did everything he thought was right -everything they told him was right- and he's still here. He still waits for new orders and he's still ready to follow this path because that's what he's supposed to do.

"You built me."

They gave him a gun, an uniform, a team, then the shield with the star. They gave him orders and plans. They made him. They built him. And now they're throwing him away for a single mistake (a big and unforgivable mistake I agree with that) as if he's a broken doll. But they built him broken therefore it's as much their fault than his.

He lost his best friend because what he was conditioned to see as a dangerous extremist who has to be eliminated quickly couldn't control her strength, and now he lost his shield (THE SHIELD THEY GAVE HIM) and his title (that he didn't ask for) and the public's trust (who praised him a few days ago), and his place in the government army (who BUILT HIM PIECE BY PIECE).

I'm not going to say that he's just another Bucky who doesn't deserve that hate- because he does deserve it. I'm saying that he has the right to feel angry and betrayed by the very same society he used to fight for, by the government he was actively trying to protect when he made that mistake. He's wrong, but they built him in a way he can't be right. They made him broken then got surprised when he broke and hurt other people, and they threw him away.

I really hope there's a DVD or Blu ray release of TFATWS before Cap4 comes out. They released Wandavision and Loki s1. I can't remember if the timing of those was to drum up hype for Loki season 2 or The Marvels (since WV introduced Monica), but if so, that logic should apply again, yeah?

Other than being a pivotal step in Sam's Cap journey, TFATWS introduced Joaquin Torres, the Bradley's, Sam's family, made Sharon into future baddie (?).

But Marvel knows their hard-core audience collects physical copies of the MCU so there NEEDS to be a physical release at some point, yeah? (Or am I hopelessly optimistic? 😆) It would also help those in general audience who go see the films but who don't have Disney+.

Holding it for a pre-Cap4 hype campaign, is the only reason that makes sense for not releasing it with the other two. (Other than Marvel just being dicks)

Let me tell y'all, Sebastian wouldn't let his hair grow and keep it that long for years now if he had no screen time at all or if his role wasn't important.>> Is it going to be good or another shit MCU movie?

To be honest, it depends on many factors & the direction MCU wants to go with.

I think they have amazing actors but way too many characters in Thunderbolts*.

For me quality > quantity & this is what I liked about Bucky's story till now (and Yelena's)

It has potential to be a good film if they keep it on the more realistic side of Marvel (like Black Widow & TFATWS) & if the writing won't be the same as it was in the last phase: predictable, boring & lacking of real emotion.

(This is what was missing in Loki S2. S1 had those raw emotions and it amazing.)

Florence leading (Yelena as the team leader) is a great decision because she is an incredible actress, Yelena is interesting, and she + Sebastian bring the fans to the cinema.

Kevin never said Bucky is the official leader & it wouldn't make sense for him to be since he is pardoned.

He is the de facto leader & if he is getting his own subplot, things will be so much more interesting.

Also, I really think Yelena & Bucky should have scenes together & I like that they (writers/producers) want to give us the characters' backstory (childhood) so we can actually understand them.

I don't think the main villain is the right choice since most of these people are super soldiers, I believe that Red Guardian will die & that Marvel will probably change things post filming.

You never know with them, anyway, & even if you think you got the direction, they film multiple versions.

So yes, it can either be a really good film, with a great message and an interesting direction since the leads are some of the most appreciated actors in Hollywood or a bad, bad version of Suicide Squad (with no real focus or storyline since there are too many things happening at once & too many characters)

But I have hope they realized, too, that quantity < quality.

Okay so my general mru timetravel saga phase thing. + how I’m doing the YA.

Since I think focusing on timetravel instead of the multiverse would have been a better next saga since timetravel was set up formerly.

Also, champions and Runaways will likely feature but I need to defamiliarise myself with the comics to feel more comfortable deciding on HOW. But I’ll get to it, just not in this post.

(Ramble below the cut)

First Phase:

I would make the first phase AFTER endgame extremely chill. More grounded, focus on a smaller group of heroes and the affects of the snap. TFATWS would be my preferred first project but obviously could change when I go to write it. Maybe seven projects in all? Keep it small. Six main solo projects, an avengers team up. I want to make it clear that things aren’t running as smoothly as they could be post-Thanos, there’s a lot of tension, the team isn’t quite… teaming.

Steve shows up as cameos in TFATWS and the avengers teamup, but not to take away from the focus of Sam being the new Cap. He’s more of an… advisor. He has experience, but that’s all he’s got to offer. He’s done with the fight. I don’t think he should’ve died in endgame personally bc I think people need a main avengers to continue showing up to really keep their investment until another character proves worthy enough for focus.

Eli is the first Young Avenger to be included, which would make a whole ‘oooo Young avengers maybe??’ But he’s played off like a cameo that’s there because Isaiah is there, no need to rush into the YA.

Kamala is also showing up. Ms Marvel wouldn’t be a MAIN solo project and would be kind of hinted to be disconnected until Carol shows up in the last episode.

There will also probably be a Hawkeye series but I don’t want any of the YA to be heroes before the YA. So Kate will likely cameo but I don’t want her to be a Hawkeye yet. That’s YA stuff. It can wait.

Second Phase:

A little more funky now. The Marvels is a good guide to take for the balance of funky and grounded. Sure it’s in space but it’s a pretty typical movie, nothing too big. Of course, the marvels = Teddy introduction. I’ve not watched the movie yet (literally on the way there now) so I can’t promise how I’ll introduce him, but it’ll probably be a small ‘cameo type’ thing.

The phase starts on a lighter note but slowly degrades, the avengers are slipping apart. It ends on a Loki s1.

Introduction of Kid Loki also. And I’ll probably do Sylvie differently. But with the demolition of the sacred timeline, there comes chaos in the storyline.

Introduction of the champions might occur here, whilst things are still light and dandy. Depends on what I can swing.

Third Phase:

House of M. Wandavision, obviously, introduces the Twins. They’ll probably remain toddlers though, to keep them little and cute, plus terrible twos + superpowers would make it obvious she’s crazy when she CHOSE that. They’re the two YA introduced this phase, no America until the multiverse unfortunately.

The avengers are slowly falling apart even further, Loki s2, and then, bosh, kangs. Not THE Kang, though. Other kangs. Fighting aaa. Some avengers probably die, Scott definitely does. They win and have to fight THE Kang, don’t win, Kang escapes.

Idk how to explain my idea for that film considering I haven’t properly planned it. But, basic idea is that he WILL come back.

Phase four:

No avengers. They fell apart, like they did for infinity war. If things like this keep happening, there’s no point anymore. Womp womp everything sucks. Some people, like Sam, are trying to keep everyone together but it’s so… hard. They wonder if they’re really just making things worse. They probably are.

Yeah there are solo projects. But it’s mostly pretty dismal. They’re trying to prepare to fight kang but they know they’ll lose. In the final solo project, there’s an end credit scene. Someone in a suit appears in dark streets and picks up a loose newspaper. ‘The avengers disbanded’. In a robotic-ish voice: oh no.

And then, final avengers movie of the saga. Except… it opens up to kids being assholes and oh wait this is just an adaptation of the first Young Avengers comic with some more emphasis on the avengers. Why have a huge crossover movie when teenagers can stab people? This isn’t to say there won’t be any closure for other storylines, I just don’t think every storyline needs to end in an AVENGERS storyline. The big crossover movie will probably be phase 3’s big Kang gang up movie, with everyone fighting their own time travelling war lord. But Kang’s death belongs to Nate. So that’s how it’ll be. Other superhero team ups will probably happen. But the big bad will be slain by those who now carry the avengers torch. It’s to me the only way to actually get people interested in the Young Avengers.

Some post saga notes:

There are some things that will be included. Like fantastic four and Xmen. It’s just a little difficult to try and explain how they fit it without going into masses of detail.

The next saga will likely be multiverse based. The Young Avengers are pretty well prepped for that kind of storyline. I’ll likely reallocate TLAT to this saga. Multiverse works better for god-based movies than time travel. It’ll probably include Children’s Crusade and YA vol2 for some of the avengers movies.

Why do people think Tom "exluded" himself from the rest of the MCU? His character died there so no reason for him to meddle. For Loki S1 promo, he seemed to be very much in contact with the other cast from WV and TFATWS. There is a photo of him hugging Chris at SDCC 2019. He is very close with Charlie Cox, Mark Ruffalo sends him Bday notes via SM. But it is just like any workplace, you are just closer with some more than others. Him and Chris speak very fondly about one another.

I think a lot of people are under the impression that when actors work together they’re like best friends for life after that.

Moon Knight 😭 Somehow Marvel exceeded my expectations once more and now it’s officially my favourite in MCU along with Loki (2021). The director played the subversion of expectation extremely well, most of the times I wasn’t able to predict the plot accurately (unlike tfatws) and I love surprises, the good kind, obviously (still salty af about Thunderbolts’ announcement). Despite the good bits, I’m still not sure how I feel about Jake and Harrow’s ending. It’s obvious from the beginning that Harrow’s gonna be defeated for the sake of MCU’s consistency, but the way he got overpowered felt unconvincing somehow. I wouldn’t mind some action scenes here, demonstrating Jake’s fighting style, and how he’s different from Marc and Steven. I guess S1’s ending was setting up for season 2, but I still felt that Jake could have more screen time in S1. Also on an unrelated note, the last shot of MK E6 was this message down here. It’s incredibly nice for them to be considerate of people who’re suffering from mental illness. This series acknowledged the problem properly without romanticizing the patients. In many ways, I find myself empathizing with Marc, it definitely helps that he’s portrayed as a multi-faceted, three-dimensional character instead of a boring holier-than-thou superhero protagonist. GG writers!

We're listening to Thanos' moral compass now?" - No, I meant that more in a "Thanos hated Loki for messing his plans up and so saw him as an enemy" way, nothing deeper. But regardless of how Loki is framed - hero, villain, or neither - Thanos seeing Loki as a failure and enemy doesn't change. Anyway, I was just trying to address why Thanos would see Loki as a "villain", and this is all just my opinion.

And that's okay, I was just giving mine in return 😉

Still, there's a difference between in-universe and framing. Let me put it this way: an aggressor and a victim are not the same, they can't be treated the same and the framing needs to realize that. TFATWS failed miserably with Bucky because they tried to pin the blame on him despite him not having any agency or will whatsoever while under Hydra's control. The story doesn't work because no matter how hard they try and how many times Bucky calls Hydra "my people" the audience knows what they did to him and that he's not responsible for any of it.

Now, would Bucky feel guilty? Of course he would, that's fine. But feeling guilty and being guilty are two very different things, that's when the framing comes in and that's when the narrative protection has to protect Bucky not Hydra.

In Loki and Thanos' case it's the same. Would Thanos think of Loki as this terrible, awful person who ruined his plan? Sure, that's fine. But narrative protection has to be given to Loki in this scenario, not Thanos. And yet the intent of that particular scene of Loki listing enemies is to show how evil he is, that protection isn't on his side at all. And in the context of S1 it just makes things worse.

Haven't watched She-Hulk but I'm confused as to why people wouldn't assume that Bruce thinks Peggy is the random chorus girl when you consider how she was regarded in Agent Carter. She was always referred to him as Cap's liaison, as sleeping her way through to the top, as not being as competent as him, as being a fling. Nobody took their relationship seriously until the end of S1, and then really only Jarvis had the heart to give her back Steve's blood and to recognize that they were true counterparts.

Steve also rarely spoke about her throughout the film franchise - In CA:TWS, when Natasha asks Steve 'whos the girl', he doesn't answer. In CA:CW Bruce wasn't on Earth to know of how Peggy's death affected him. Natasha assumed enough to go to funeral when Tony didn't (lol what one of Marvel's biggest mistakes. In Endgame, when Sam asks Steve about who he married, Steve doesn't answer. Like the only thing people have to go on that Steve lost his virginity to someone was during the war. If most of Steve's exhibition is still up in the Smithsonian post 2023+, I don't know how people wouldn't have theories that the chorus girl was Peggy.

IDK- I just don't get why Marvel is bringing this up at all - like the conspiracy theories he's on the moon in TFATWS; the musical in Hawkeye; now rumors about his virginity...it's like they couldn't make more decent development of Steve or Steve/Peggy when the movies were active, now he's mostly brought up in silly ways.

I think it's mighty disrespectful that I got MCU fatigue as they started giving women and people of color the spotlight

I feel like if they did that shit sooner I might still enjoy the franchise even if just a tiny bit

The last Antman and MoM felt like such a chore to watch

The last MCU thing I watched that I fully enjoyed was TFATWS and have rewatched it several times since until I completely gave up on the MCU

Loki s1 was okay but not something I had the desire to watch again - I do intend to watch s2 just for Rafael Casal and Ke Huy Quan at some point but I'm not in a rush to do so

Moon Knight only had my attention for Oscar Isaac and May Calamawy

So by the time Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk came out I was over it

I only watched the last Antman and MoM because Josh wouldn't leave me alone til I did

I love Monica and Carol but I have absolutely no desire to watch the Marvels

I am kinda looking forward to the next Cap movie but only for Sam

Thunderbolts I'm not looking forward to at all but I'll watch it for Bucky in hopes they finally kill him and release him

When Pedro becomes Reed Richards I'll support him

But bro I'm so tired of this fucking franchise

And it's so sad

Because the MCU used to bring me so much joy

I wrote the most fanfiction about this franchise

I had a 3 part fic series planned that now I've lost all passion for and I might not even finish the first part
