Splat!

Both eggs hit the floor and splatter into a mess of white, yolk, and shell, splashing onto Tim’s left sock. For a moment, all he can do is stare in disbelief.

It took all his damn strength to drag himself out of his room and come make breakfast—brunch, at this point; it’s half past noon—and he couldn’t even manage that. Stupid low blood sugar, stupid shaky hands, stupid—! Ugh!

His mom would be so mad if she knew he spent her birthday curled up in bed being miserable and not taking care of himself. That’s the entire reason he forced himself to bother getting up, instead of sleeping the day away. But apparently, he can’t even do this one simple task right! The frustration bubbling under his skin threatens to spill everywhere. There’s a weird tightness in his chest, an annoying pressure behind his eyes.

Kon, stirring a pot of noodles on the stove, laughs. “Aw, man, for shame, Robbie,” he jokes, floating up to peer at the mess on the floor. “I thought you birds were supposed to, like, be good with eggs!”

On any other day, Tim might have laughed. Today, his frustration with himself—with everything—boils over. He clenches his fists, grits his teeth, and feels his shoulders hike up to his ears as he fights it, but—

He chokes on a sob. Immediately, he claps both of his hands over his mouth, mortified, but the damage is done.

On the other side of the counter, Kon freezes. “Rob?” He puts down his spatula and floats closer, his hands fluttering uncertainly in midair. “Are you—are you crying? Oh my god, you’re crying. Why are you crying?”

I LOVE L RECEIVING LETTERS FROM LIGHT WHILE LIGHT IS IN LIKE FEDERAL FUCKING PRISON. The more unhinged the better.

Hanahaki disease played completely straight and a little scary. You're going to tell that man you love him or you're going to choke on it, BITCH.

I love no-Note AUs of any type in which L meets Light and has no plot reason to become fascinated with him, because he's not a mass murderer, but Light is just so fucking obviously unhinged in subtler ways beneath his veneer of normalcy that L can't help but want to eat him up whole.

🐑 - What scenario are you currently thinking about before bed?

This question is really revealing to me how little I've thought about snz / h/c going to sleep these past couple weeks 😭 I sat here for so long trying to conjure up an idea so that I could answer this.

👀 Thinking of someone who's usually very punctual (or even uptight about plans and showing up on time) showing up uncharacteristically late, interrupting a meeting/seminar/whatever, murmuring a quiet "sorry I'm late" as they set their stuff down to take a seat... to most of the others in the room, this is a non-event, or perhaps a small oddity (isn't this person usually never late?), but not worth thinking hard about. But maybe someone in the room is perceptive enough to notice how tired they really look, how a couple strands of their hair are out of place, how their posture isn't as upright as usual, how if you really look carefully it looks like they might be shivering...

🤧 - Do you prefer stoic characters or characters who complain?

I like stoic characters ~so long as~ the stoicism is used as a point of contrast! I like when characters are privately feeling unwell, but outwardly, they project an air of unaffectedness (or even seem cold/unapproachable) <3 I also like when the stoicism is like, challenged in small or subtle ways - where they can't quite rein in the act as successfully as they'd like to, and where there are little ways in which their affliction betrays them (like if their hands tremble a little, or if they swallow with a slight wince, or if they're normally very meticulous but they miss a small detail they otherwise would've noticed) 🥰

It's so fucking fun!

Confession: As funny as I find all the memes about writing being a horrific, arduous task that's such a pain to do [starts humming 'Hard to Be the Bard'], I actually super do not relate to them. I find the act of writing to be very enjoyable. It's my equivalent of playing with Barbie dolls, cackling madly as I send them off to war.

Aside from that, I also really like talking to people about my writing as a way of engaging with the fandom community! I'm a social person, hahaha.

(Disclaimer: A lot of Writing Being Always Enjoyable for me is 1) I don't write if I don't find it enjoyable and I'm comfortable with taking long breaks for that reason, and 2) I have so much practice at the mechanically challenging bits. If you find writing hard to enjoy sometimes there is nothing wrong with or abnormal about that.)

hi, may i ask what the interpolation in "every good intention (is interpolation)" means?

interpolation noun - the insertion of something of a different nature into something else – something interpolated, as a passage introduced into a text.

in mathematics; -the insertion of an intermediate value or term into a series by estimating or calculating it from surrounding known values. -the process of approximating a given function by using its values at a discrete set of points.

now, i can't tell you what exactly The Oh Hellos meant when they wrote those lyrics down, but i can tell you what i intended for it to mean when i used their phrase as the fic's title. basically, for alhaitham, every good intention he has is (according to himself) a calculated process of weighing the different outcomes of a situation and choosing the one that serves him best – if it lands as a good action, then it was just happenstance. for kaveh, on the other hand, every one of alhaitham's good intentions are (according to himself) generous assumptions that kaveh himself is making on behalf of alhaitham. as in- he's forcing himself to interpret alhaitham's preceived asshole behavior as having good intentions deep down. but since he is aware he himself is assigning that idea onto alhaitham, he is also always under the impression that he has to do extra effort to give the man a chance. a sort of "i'm choosing to believe you're good deep down, even though you make it VERY hard to, sometimes" sort of situation. like he's inserting extra meaning to his actions, in his own eyes.

⛔ Do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?

So I think I can officially consider this one scrapped but one of my oldest wips was a planned multi-chapter fic called How Long Until a Vampire Loses Humanity which was like a bunch of interviews with Louis reminiscing about small moments between him and Armand.

I ended up losing interest in it mostly because I just don't really see the point in doing essentially what the show is gonna be doing and then also I'm not invested in Daniel enough to keep him in the forefront as needed for a fic like that.

“Oh, thanks.” Tina grinned, holding her hand out for her misplaced cellphone.

“You know, we can’t afford to buy you another one if you lose-…” Her dad trailed off, glancing down at the phone in his hands - Tina watched with horror as the screen came to life, displaying the very revealing photo she’d taken of her boyfriend just a few days before.

“Is…is that Jimmy Jr.’s…butt?”

“Um…nooooo?”

They looked anywhere but at each other as he dropped the phone into her palm, both wishing for the floor to open up and swallow them whole.

Happy WBW! I'm missing my family pup, so what kind of pets are kept in your world?

Going with Rising Shards (SHOCKER I KNOW) since that has the most pets.

Generally speaking most are the same as pets in our world, dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, fish, etc. But there are cats that are very long that can float (I haven't bothered to come up for an explanation why but that's part of the fun). There are also little cat sized dinosaurs that look like they're made of plastic (idk if it's a permanent name but I've been calling them plastdinos, very clever I know). They're based off of the baby t-rex Lego that I was obsessed with getting as a kid.
