My love for gaming is partly anchored in my love for stories. I gravitate towards games that weave a rich narrative involving complex and thoughtful characters in a world to be discovered slowly but impactfully. That's what Dragon Age: Inquisition, with all its flaws, did for me six years ago, and it's how the Mass Effect trilogy crashed into my life only a few months ago, birthing an obsession I didn't know I needed. It's why the Ezio era of the Assassin's Creed series is, in my opinion, still undefeated, and it's what, years ago, kept me playing Horizon: Zero Dawn all the way into the early hours when I really should have been sleeping.

When sequels get caught up in the hype of their forebears and their disappointing ambitions fail to remember their origin in tale-telling, especially while chasing some passing trend only desired by money-loving investors, a light dies in my heart.

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey was, as per Wikipedia, complimented by critics for its story-telling, but I have yet to find the parts that would have brought about such praise. Kassandra is fun, certainly, and her backstory is promising, but I fail to understand her motivations. Perhaps the choice system has something to do with this, but she also seems to be thrown into larger situations that are not warranted by our knowledge of who she is, a young girl growing up to be a mercenary on a small island under the wings of a silly, get-rich-quick schemer who has a penchant for getting into trouble. How does she come to be in command of a ship, despite seemingly having no previous experience with it, and embroiled in a battle of the Peloponnesian War as if she's been fighting wars her whole life? I don't know who this woman is, what drives her, and which experiences inform the actions she undertakes.

I do like her muscled arms, though.

SUMMARY: Dreams are not always pleasant and you can’t always escape the nightmares.

Their faces still haunted him at night. Sometimes the dreams were more vivid than others.

Frederico would be relentlessly teasing him about some Assassin training Ezio had gone through. If anything, Claudia would be joining in too or chastising their brother for his taunts.

Giovanni was praising his boy, or even sharing a loving kiss with Maria as if nothing had chest changed.

Sweet little Petruccio, in all his innocence, was just curious about all that happened in their family.

And maybe, if things were different, Cristina would be there as part of their family too.

When he awakes, Ezio doesn’t realize how much he had been crying in his sleep. It’s not until he feels your hands on his face wiping away the tears.

He hates to let you see him like this, but the agony of his ghosts haunt him and you’re the solace that eases the pain whenever he awakes.

So... I feel like this has been done before but I can't help but post my own personal headcanons so here we go:

Dynamics:

Altaïr - Switch (Brat)

Ezio - Soft Dom, but loves being rode (Also a brat)

Haytham - Top, strictly top, loves being in control and is definitely a hard dom

Connor (My Sweet Darling Baby Boy) - Soft Dom with Switchy Tendencies. He's also a lil shy sometimes but loves trying new things.

i don't know if this is common knowledge or not but there was a huge gay culture in florence at the time of assassin's creed 2.

so in the renaissance, bc they were taking inspiration for their art from the ancient greeks and romans, they eventually discovered that these cultures had gay ppl in them. some artists and craftsmen saw this n were like "omg great idea" and thus, the age structured gay relationships (similar to how they existed in the ancient world) were too reborn.

by the time ezio rolls around, florence had adopted like a registry of sodomy offenders. it's even been said by some historians that the MAJORITY of men in the city were in there. da vinci even had a case himself (see Jacopo Saltarelli) but the charges were dropped.

my point is that ezio must have been aware of this subculture even if he didn't engage in it lol. use that to ur advantage if ur writing fanfic. he probably knows ab gay ppl, i doubt it would b a shock to the system.
