"This will be the day" analysis but for the entire series
"They see you as small and helpless, they see you as just a child. Surprised when they find out that a warrior will run wild."
Ruby was viewed as a child for being younger than the rest of the class. However, they quickly learned not to underestimate her ability as a huntress and a leader.
Prepare for your greatest moment; prepare for your finest hour. The dreamed that you've longed for is suddenly about to flower."
This may apply to Ozma. He wanted to see Salem's defeat for so long and thought it impossible, but has seen victories he once thought impossible against Salem's henchmen, and will eventually witness the end of the war and their curse.
"We are lightning straying from the thunder, miracles of ancient wonder."
This refers to both the Maidens and Silver-eyed Warriors. The Maidens can literally manipulate lighting, and the silver-eyes have been referred to as a miracle in the actual show. Both are also ancient.
"This will be the day we've waited for. This will be the day we open up the door."
The Relics are all hidden behind doors, and opening said doors is always a crucial moment to the series.
"I don't want to hear your absolution; hope you're ready for a revolution."
There's multiple interpretations for this line; the obvious being Ruby resisting Salem, but it could also be about Blake/Yang denying Adam's reign, Weiss rebelling against her father, and RWBY turning against Ironwood.
"Welcome to a world of new solutions. Welcome to a world of bloody evolution."
In order to save Remnant, the heroes have to do things that the old generations have never thought of before. They reunited humanity against Salem, which is a new solution, because the entirety of the world never knew of her existence before now. Ruby's escape plan in Volume 8 was also entirely heard of, but it saved many lives who would've perished if Ironwood's plan succeeded.
The Maiden powers transfer when the wielder dies hence a blood evolution. Multiple heroes and villains have died throughout the series which effected Remnant at large.
"In time, your heart will open minds, a story will be told, and victory is in a simple soul!"
The heroes managed to sway multiple people into doing the right thing who were previously afraid to (The White Fang, Ozma, Emerald) to name a few.
As for the story being told, you can consider Alyx's adventure the story. Ruby eventually emerged victorious in the Ever After despite the challenges before her and made her fairy tale have a hopeful ending.
"Your world needs a great defender. Your world's in the way of harm. You want a romantic life; a fairy tale full of charm."
Ruby was willing to rise up to the challenge even after knowing Salem was impossible to kill. She said in volume 1 she just wanted life to be like a fairy tale, but being a hero has proven to be much more difficult than she ever imagined. The actual fairy tale she ended up within couldn't be further away from what she once dreamed of.
'Charm' also makes me think of Qrow since his whole arc has been about learning how to view things in a different perspective, leading to him eventually learning how to control his semblance.
"Beware that the light is fading; beware if the dark returns. The world is unforgiving; even brilliant lights will cease to burn."
This was meant to hint at how the villains are not to be underestimated, and foreshadow the character deaths of Volume 3. We were so naive back then, and did not believe the show would ever get this dark, but CRWBY tried to warn us.
"Legends scatter. Day and night will server. Hope and peace are lost forever."
Despite the heroes best efforts, multiple kingdoms were lost. At the ends of both Volume 3 and Volume 8, it was hard to retain hope for the future when no good was in sight.

What Cyberpunk DeadBoy Means and What it's Potentially Foreshadowing (aka very complicated analysis that makes a lot of sense and could happen depending on how colorpalet is feeling while writing the story)
Now I'm seeing so many people like running around wondering what this event could mean for the future for multiple reasons and like I've made like one post throwing my hat into the ring.
I've been frustrated with people's unwillingness to realise that this comm is prob foreshadowing because this is not the first time Colorpalet has hidden foreshadowing into comms weither subtely or not
Exemple's being :
-Akito's second comm foreshadowing his third event
-Lower's cover art literally foreshadowing what would happen to Mafuyu's phone in her event
-88 vocals being emurui and nenekasa foreshadowing the kind of dynamic the disbandement arc had with nenekasa wanting to move forward with emurui being scared of isolation
-Probably way better exemples that I forgot
I've seen people make Some assumptions which I don't agree with but there is one thing I think is true
There is 100 pourcent gonna be struggle between corporation/reality and WxS.
Purely because that's been WxS's entire theme since the beginning. They constantly bash you over the head with the theme of compromising with reality and the importance of dreams. In fact the pick of Maiki-P is not at all surprising as he basically has the same message WxS has just... well harsher.
The Big thing people have ignored however is by focusing on the lyrics, they've ignored something that's personally to me even more telling and that's the line distribution
We know for a fact colorpalet loves to mess around with line distribution, weither it's to make characters say lines that fit them or to kind of foreshadow their headspace.
Now something Big happens with the line distribution of Cyberpunk Deadboy that i've seen NO ONE notice and that's in the last chorus (that and also Tsukasa's lines which people have pointed out but it works less on it's own which is why I'm gonna analyse his lines afterwards).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the only time the chorus is like that, the others have a much more even distribution.
In fact the distribution choice makes it look like the rest of WxS is Talking to Rui.
It's even more evident considering the lines they chose to make WxS sing compared to only just Rui
Emu/Tsukasa/Nene saying kimi (you)
Rui saying boku (i)
Which honestly makes me think this is colorpalet foreshadowing some kind of issue reguarding specifically Rui. Remember Emu's second event ? The story of Rilley whose imagination was crippled by the industry to the point where he didn't really have any artistic vision until Emu's grandpa helped him.
In fact remember how the flashback that showcases that has Rilley working on a film
Now we get to Tsukasa's line which have been pointed out to be kind of sus but it's not just his lines.
Tsukasa refuses to sing with Rui (unless it's a line they all sing together but i consider those exceptions). In fact pretty much everyone has a duo line with each other except those two.
In fact in the section where Rui has duo lines with everybody, Tsukasa is the only one he doesnt sing with and the visuals make it clear that it's something that we're supposed to find strange
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then we of course have Tsukasa's solo lines
Tumblr media
Tsukasa is the only one that say "fuzakeruna" outside of Rui (of course ignoring entire group WxS lines) and i've seen some people pointed out how it sounds like he's saying it in response to Rui's lines. Which I agree with.
Then we got his big boy solo lines
Tumblr media
These lines will make more sense with my theory/analysis but right now if we go with the idea that WxS in the last chorus were speaking to Rui and Tsukasa in this comm refuses to sing with Rui then this implies those lines are Tsukasa speaking to Rui.
And this is where the insanity begins because people have pointed out a concerning trend with Ruikasa that I know some people use for shipping fuel but for me kinda feels more so like foreshadowing.
Tumblr media
IGNORING all the ARG ass weirdness of the Fixer 2dmv, this choice to switch Ruikasa's colors have to mean something in my opinion outside of just wholesome shipping influence especially considering the two songs they do this are less than jovial.
What this kind of color switching signifies to me is that, Ruikasa somehow are/or will switch places.
And with that let me bring back Tsukasa's lines
Tumblr media
These lines stand out because Tsukasa before remembering his dreams was extremely shallow only doing things for fame and probably the money that would come with it.
Now if you think about everything I've layed out I think you can gain a pretty clear picture.
Of Rui falling into the trap Rilley did, becoming jaded and losing the true motivation of his dream (or at least starting to have doubts). Becoming stuck with the struggle of managing dreams and reality.
Tumblr media
Rui's costume even has a mask which can be a metaphor for his artistic voice and individuality being silenced .
Which now you get into the line distribution where WxS is implied to be talking to Rui.
And you get to Tsukasa, who is refusing to sing with Rui and in fact seems to be arguing with Rui if we really want to overthink it. In fact almost switching their roles from the main story.
Because Tsukasa has grown now and how else to show that growth than to switch Rui and Tsukasa's perspectives/roles.
Now how this would happen really depends since there are multiple ways they can go about it with the time they have.
There is obviously mystery dude dude (who i know now is sakaki) who still gives me bad vibes. However there is actually two way they can make mystery dude trigger this sort of plot :
-Mystery dude is malicious and actively manipulates/confronts Rui to make him rethink his worldview
-Mystery dude isn't malicious but instead is just jaded/has been through a lot of industry bullshit which ends up rubbing off on Rui accidentally
But you can even just not have mystery dude involved with this at all (which i doubt but still) because you know what loose plotpoint is still lingering over WxS, fucking Asahi
Rui still has not talked about Asahi to WxS, in fact Curtain Call ends on an explicit cliffhanger which is never really emotionally concluded (at least in Rui's own events, technically the arc ender did but there are still a lot of loose threads from that arc). Why would Colorpalet make Asahi come back after Rui graduates, they could've just had him disappear into the sunset but instead they hint at his potential comeback.
Unless Rui will be forced to again confront similar feelings he did during Curtain Call this time with possibly an added layer of whatever happens during WxS's freelance arc.
Anyways yeah this is overly complicated but then again colorpalet is not being easy with us so...yeah.

ITS ME, MAMMON 💚🃏
This man reeks of insecure corporate shame
A psychology theory…
Tumblr media
“And I’ll be like a stepdad, who will love you, when it’s convenient!!”
Tumblr media
It all really started for him in LooLoo Land, the-legally distinct-knockoff of Lucifers more successful Lulu World that reeks of insecure corporate shame.
When he said
“I raised you like the son I didn’t want!”
He was fucking lying his clowny ass off because he wanted a son even more than Fizz wanted a father of his own and Mam has not shut up about his father-son delusion for almost twenty goddamn years
The second image above, and all of the symbolism around it is the foundation of Mammons character and psychology. No really. This was not the introduction of Fizzarolli, it was the introduction of Mammon wearing Fizzi as his face. Vibe checked by a jaded 17 year old owl goth girl who can see through her own pathetic dads fake bullshit. This scene was the foreshadowing of the Musical Special. Everything from the green spotlight on Fizzi, the nasty personality of the robot which was closer to Mammons than Fizzarolli’s. Lots of symbolism. Especially the ripped off reference to Hazbin Hotels “I have a dream” song lyric. Has possible symbolism. I’m actually deeply disappointed the ep didn’t make a single call back to LooLoo Land at all. And Blitz was right there and wasted potential :(
Tumblr media
Shown is a Fizzbot ‘Fizzi’ compared to his ‘dad’ mammon ahh like father like son as they say. Blech. Everybody loves Fizz, does anybody love you, Mammon? (Me, I do❤️)
Tumblr media
So I’m going to get it out of the way and say it, Mammon is giving Leviathan a run for his money (haha money, get it?) because his envy and idolisation of his BFF Lucifer is so great that he’s trying to find his “very own pride and joy”, his own theme park, his own grand circus and adoring fans, and his own wholesome musical child knock-off of Lucifers more popular Charlie Morningstar.
He saw this
Tumblr media
And he thought….
Aw, he so sad here :c Just do this one thing, for him x he’s just a giant evil baby man with four arms and eight eyes
He doesn’t really want a daughter though, he feels like he’d relate better to a (marketable) son. And I think that’s the real reason he made the comment about women not being considered the same way adults werent considered, only implings who want to grow up to be like him. (creepy..! I think that’s what tipped Blitzo off also poor Wally (another orphan like Fizz?) Wally didn’t make the cut 😢 YEET.
Tumblr media
Anyway-His whole dream is being a father and son taking on the world to grow his empire. As long as he steals all the fortune. He must be insecure and full of shame if he wants someone to be his “new face” every year, if you really think about it. If the kid same is the gender as him and therefore a bit more like his own face in that sense, he’s not copying Lucifers daughter cause he has a son. It’s different and not the same at all.
But seriously it really shocked me when he started talking about being like a stepdad, and he was genuinely excited about it too? But this man doesn’t even know he wants to be a father and he’s probably never felt love before in his life. I guarantee this was a first sight “wow this kid kinda looks like me and he has the same innocent look in his eyes as Charlie, he’s mine now”
“I GAVE YOU EVERYTHING”
Tumblr media
This for me. Made as big an impact as Oz saying he loves Fizz. It was very shocking. The opposite of greed is giving, and giving something to somebody is probably a massive fucking deal to Mam and I’d bet he doesn’t even know himself why he gave fizz so much attention
He also doesn’t kill Fizz? He SCREAMS at him, uses big intimidation tactics, sure, but didn’t actually lay a hand on him if you really look? He was fine with being uncomfortably physical and even violent before to him but isn’t now? (Fizz is forever so badass for this moment btw) How strange is that. This whole thing reeks of ‘scorned father’
Tumblr media
Like he’s happy to keep exploiting Fizz but also just as fine in replacing him, even happy to see him possibly fail. So he really has no reason to be this possessive and attached. But he is. Oz says the song is about him and Fizz literally calls his name out and Mammon still ALLOWS him to finish his song he genuinely really enjoyed the song, he allowed him to make his speech, but only intervenes when he quits.
Tumblr media
Why, because he wants the crowd to “love” him it’s very important to him - the money they give him is what he thinks love is. There is so many dads out there who respond to abuse allegations with “but I put a roof over their head and provide security” This is abusive father 101. I guess it could be just because Fizz is beloved by the masses, profitable, sure. But what if it’s because he feels the same way the crowd does about fizz, and doesn’t comprehend why? He clearly loves watching his performances. Even the diss track against him. Priorities.
It is just an extremely interesting concept to me if Mam is trying to copy Lucifers family, but the best thing he can come up with is a Brand Figure to be his “legacy” Capitalists man. He doesn’t understand what love is. But wants it. Wants to buy it. But it’s never enough.
“You are practically in my image”
Is literally another dad thing and to be more dramatic about this it’s the same thing we hear that ‘God made you in his image’ could this be setting up the theme of the show? Honestly my one criticism is that there’s enough sexual relationships in this show there didn’t need to be implications of him sexually interested in the guy he literally sees as his kid. A twisted boss/father story about a deeply lonely orphan clown child and a deeply lonely capitalistic clown spider over-idolising each other and entering an abusive family/work dynamic due to both of their tragic nativité and ignorance about love, is already a very mature story. It’s a 9/10 story but if Fizz and Blitz (an excellent way to incorporate him in the story) talked a bit about Fizz’s orphan status at the circus making him feel like there was always something missing, something Blitz had but he never did, it would have been 10/10.

Pile 1:
‘Almost There’ sung by Tiana (Anika Noni Rose)
In this song, Tiana expresses her dreams of opening her own restaurant and achieving success through hard work. She believes that by staying focused and dedicated, she can overcome any obstacle and make her dreams come true. The song showcases Tiana's determination, ambition, and her belief in the power of her own efforts. It also highlights the contrast between her practical mindset and the fairy tale elements that come into play later in the story.
So if you’re in a similar situation where you want to achieve something, and are determined; this song is for you, to get you even more dedicated.
Pile 2:
‘Down in New Orleans’ sung by Dr. Facilier (Keith David) and Chorus
Dr. Facilier, the villain of the story, performs this song to manipulate and influence Prince Naveen. The song paints a picture of the allure of New Orleans, enticing Naveen with promises of wealth and luxury. The song's sinister undertones reflect Dr. Facilier's intentions of using Naveen for his own dark purposes. The song also introduces the theme of contrasting desires and motivations in the story.
This song is great for if you want to achieve something and need a confidence boost.
Pile 3:
‘Friends on the Other Side’ sung by Dr. Facilier (Keith David)
This song is a showcase of Dr. Facilier's dark magic and his ability to manipulate others. Through the song's eerie lyrics and visuals, he reveals his connection to the spirit world and his ability to grant people's desires at a high cost. The song highlights his sinister nature and foreshadows the challenges that Tiana and Naveen will face as they encounter the consequences of his dark deals.
If you want to feel more connected to the Spirit World / Astral (ancestors, spirit guides, deities), and get a confidence boost this song is for you.

Untidy Rambling Post-6x06
Okay but, the other day, I had to stop myself from crying in my building's laundry room because I suddenly remembered their first date and their adorable getting-ready phone call and the fact that Tim definitely chose "the most romantic restaurant in town" to take Lucy to ...
Tumblr media
I keep getting hit in the face with thoughts of all the sweet, sincere, romantic moments they've shared in the last couple of seasons that show how much Lucy means to Tim. It pains me how he can't seem to see how happy he makes her in turn.
A brief collection of things that have contributed to my days-long mental breakdown (read-more link because there are a lot of GIFs):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
BUT! This one in particular gives me hope:
Tumblr media
It's foreshadowing, people. "We're gonna get through this. I love you." They were talking about Lucy being an undercover officer, but this idea definitely applies to what is going down now.
And in the song that's playing in this scene, the lyrics say, "Everything means nothin' if I ain't got you." They both mean so much to each other. They'll find their way back.

so i had the bright idea of rewatching s1 today whilst im working from home, now knowing what i know about s2, and so i can ruminate a little more on s1 with the additional context. ive barely made it past five minutes
im pretty sure ive gotten most of the frames accurate from this bit, and im sure it might just be a bit of demonstrative cinematography (which ya know, *chefs kiss*) but at the same time i love going into full year 9 english teacher mode about this shit, and i think there is something to comment on (which someone already might have done but w/e). in any case, this bit of dialogue is very noticeably layered with shots of crowley and aziraphale, but intercut with the shots of adam facing down the lion:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like, i can't help but feel that there is some symmetry in this and either other people have spotted it and im very behind, OR we havent spotted it and s2 spoilers have helped unlock it✨
so who is meant to be who here? for my money it would be that adam is mirroring aziraphale, and eve is mirroring crowley - in so much that at a really shallow level, aziraphale is a platoon leader, a guardian, fought in the war etc. crowley, regardless of his rank, is a starmaker, and let's face it the boy has the structural integrity of a strand of dried linguine. so we could look at it on that level (ignore the lion for the moment ill sort of explain that if it isn't already obvious)
but also we now know that this scene is not their first meeting, and that aziraphale and crowley do in fact remember each other and know that they have met, and in aziraphale's case is probably the teeniest bit shy bc damn heart eyes as an angel, heart eyes as a demon 🥵 but my point is that this is after the fall. after (as far as crowley tells it) crowley fell for 'just ask[ing] questions", and "just hung around the wrong people".
now i have my thoughts on why crowley fell: tldr because it would require another post - both reasons he gave above are bullshit and obvs conflict with each other, so i think that he doesn't actually know why he fell and has just guessed his transgressions so he can rationalise it, that god actually never had an issue with him asking questions, and instead it was actually god's plan to make him fall so he could represent the 'evil' side of free will on earth, as aziraphale's counterpart, and essentially ensure that humankind stays eternally 'in balance'
ANYWAY so the fact that in the lion sequence, 'crowley' is being shielded by 'aziraphale' against an unknown entity; but does this mirror a flashback, or is it foreshadowing? again, id put my bets on the former visually, but the latter... lyrically? idk the word but regardless take the dialogue:
"What if I did the right thing;
with the whole 'eat the apple business'?
A demon can get into a lot of trouble;
for doing the right thing."
so let's rephrase this:
"Was it the right decision to fall;
was I right to choose this for myself?
to choose the right to choose?
Because i feel like i could live to regret it."
so is crowley in essence already asking if aziraphale is on his side? is he asking if falling was the right thing, the good thing, to do (regardless of whether god gave him any choice in the matter)? But was he given the choice, first true free will? did aziraphale try to protect him during the fall, so crowley could get out in time (but ultimately fail? or at least bought Crowley enough time to find a back staircase and fall gently and peacefully, 'saunter vaguely downwards'?), and then get assigned to earth to be the 'good' side of the coin for humanity?
and is crowley asking if aziraphale will continue to be with him? in whatever romantic, platonic, acquaintance context you want - is he asking aziraphale if aziraphale will fight for him again, for them both? aziraphale made his decision, enacted his free will, in giving the humans a sword, and thus brought the concept of war and horror to earth, even if that was never his intention - so now swordless, and now only condemned to watch humanity as it strides out on its own (or was this the plan all along?👀), is aziraphale willing to do it? does he have the power, the strength, the will? would he stretch his finger over the line to fight on their side?
maybe im asking the wrong kind of questions, but all ill say is that in the above sequence? at the end of the dialogue? adam kills the lion.
i think 'their side' began in the job minisode, yes maybe, but also maybe the idea of it, the understanding of it, was planted here.

So as much as this cute little reunion scene is about Athena and Bobby I think it's also about Buddie (and by extension Tommy).
Some thoughts:
The song used in this scene is a breakup song (Stormy Weather by Etta James) about missing the person you love. Yet it's a reunion scene. Apart from the obvious could this also be a reference to some "stormy weather" up ahead for Buddie?
They frame it very deliberately with Tommy firmly in between Buck and Eddie
Tumblr media
You can even see for like a split second him walking up in between them.👇
Tumblr media
Eddie walks away without even looking back for Buck. And they have him do it right as the lyrics say "life is bad".
Just as Eddie is walking away Buck looks to Tommy
Tumblr media
Buck doesn't touch Tommy until Eddie is fully out of frame. Like the minute he's out of frame is when Buck's hand touches Tommy's shoulder.
Tumblr media
Now I've seen some people say this was nothing and we're reading too much into all this. Maybe. But why have the ending here be between just Buck and Tommy alone? Why not have both Buck and Eddie there to say bye to him or have Hen there too since she knew Tommy longer? Considering we've had a lot of scenes with Buddie lately it seems a very deliberate choice to have it be Buck and Tommy standing there alone.
The biggest thing for me is that they had Buck be the one to reach out and touch Tommy (instead of the other way around) and his hand lingered it wasn't just some bro pat on the shoulder his hand stayed there and they held eye contact. They also held arms as Buck walked away. Like Buck didn't want to let go.
Tumblr media
All of which are big signs to me that I think we're getting bi Buck. Not just because Tommy is a guy but I feel like it's all the symbolism of Buck being ready to reach out for what he wants and being open about it.
Also something I missed on first viewing after the Buck Tommy shoulder scene very briefly we get a shot of Buck running after Eddie with Tommy trailing behind.
Tumblr media
This makes it even more interesting that they chose to do that scene alone with Buck and Tommy like what was it even for (if not foreshadowing) since he was going in the same direction as them?
I also think showing Buck running after Eddie after he had his moment with Tommy makes it clear where Buck's heart is. Perhaps it's a foreshadowing to pining Buck at the end of the season? More importantly considering Tommy ends the scene behind the two of them it shows whatever happens with him and Buck won't be all that serious.
I also thought it was a conscious choice to pair the Buddie and Tommy scenes with Bathena. Both are incredibly popular ships in the show (even if Buddie isn't canon). Again they could have done anything with this scene. They could have juxtaposed Lola and Norman or the kid and his mom reuniting with their family with Bathena but mostly it was Buddie and Tommy.
---
Oh one last thing in the song Stormy Weather two verses talk about wanting to find the sun again
Which I thought was interesting because we've gotten multiple shots this season with Buddie where it almost looks like the sun is shining on them

dirty girl obviously gives a lot of insight into grace as a character. but i don't think enough people talk about her fantasy version of max. of course, his lyrics foreshadow his fate and that's very important, but just watch him through the whole song.
he pretends to not care at first, but his eyes are always glued to her. yes it's funny when his finger twirling makes grace dizzy, but then she does the same to him, his head swaying side to side as he watches her.
grace's fantasy is not to have max in charge. it may look like it from an outsider's perspective but it's her in control, max looking up at her with stars in his eyes.

Your opinion on the Name of the Wind? I've heard such mixed opinions on it that it's hard to know what to reasonably expect.
oooo well I LOVE name of the wind personally but there are a lot of understandable complaints. I will tell you what I love and what I don't like about the book and some common complaints as well.
What to expect:
beautiful and lyrical prose, very descriptive and slow paced
a distinct main character, with a strong moral compass, who is annoyingly smart and stupid at the same time (Kvothe) (he's not a mary sue)
an interesting frame story of a former legendary hero tells the "truth" of his life to the Chronicler
a hard and a soft magic system coexisting
the women in the text have some awesome moments. they also have moments where you go, oh yeah, a man wrote this. (I will say, as someone who has read a lot, I never feel like Rothfuss hates women in the way he portrays them, which to me as a reader, makes it easier to read, but there certainly is a level of objectification. my point being, this is an understandable and likely reason many people dislike it)
the plot is so slow. very little happens, which I don't mind but like, again, another turn off for many people. this is character driven and not plot driven.
Kvothe's tone as he tells the story I also think many people don't like, as it is pretty pretentious at many moments.
there are absolutely beautiful passages that are philosophical and little psychology lessons that I love
literally some of the best side characters ever, everyone in this fandom would die for Auri, one of the most universally loved characters imo
a lot of people who arent me love the worldbuilding, it is very intricate but please dont ask me about the money system, i don't even understand american money
the amount of puzzle and foreshadowing in this book, there are soooo many theories about who is who and secret agendas and what this means and it is super fun to theorize about this series
oh and it is unfinished and has been for 12 years with no third book in sight so if closure if important to you, that would also be a big turn off
hopefully, that gives you a good idea of what to expect and what might draw you to the series or turn you off

More things I noticed in Nimona because I got boredin.
Nimona Spoilers!
Diamonds seem to be a recurring form when it comes to the Institute, which we see most when in the Director's office. There's a line of diamonds that goes from the top to the bottom of her dress. The windows are diamonds. There's a diamond at the tip of her staff. There's a diamond sculpture thingy on her desk. There's a line of diamonds on the side of her desk. Ambrosius also has a a lot of diamonds on his armor. The button the Director presses to open the secret drawer is part of a line of diamonds. The Director's eye shine is a diamond, and so is Bal's when he's about to be knighted, about to become an official part of the Institute, only to have that taken away from him.
I hear a lot of people say that they don't understand why Bal didn't post the whole video, but we have to take in consideration here: When he and Nimona thought up that plan, in no way did they think that the Director would actually try to kill Ambrosius. And, also, Nimona-Ambrosius and Ambrosius both enter the office by saying the same thing "We need to talk". Bal probably spent hours telling them how Ambrosius acted just to fool the Director. Just imagine: you see someone who looks and acts exactly like the one you love get stabbed out of absolutely nowhere. You know it's not them, but there's still that small second of "What the fuck my lover is getting stabbed!" I doubt he was able to keep the camera still through all that. I saw another post talk about it, and I can't find it, but yeah.
Also, back to Ambrosius' armor, I was able to count three lion faces on it. One on the front of his chestplate, and one of each of his shoulder protector thingys (I don't know the name of it)
Sure, when Nimona-Ambrosius destroys everything in the Director's office, it's funny, but they also foreshadow one more thing; destroying the wall. Also, they remove Gloreth's statue at the same time, and, at the end, when Bal is looking over the kingdom, we don't see the statue in question anywhere, which could maybe insinuate that they actually did canonically took it down? I may be looking into this too much, but it's fun to think that's what it might mean.
The sight Bal uploads the video is called "TheCrier". Also, when he uploads it, on the screen behind the computer, you can see he was previously ordering a pizza.
Bal's username is BalliSTAR12 and honestly I'm surprised no one in the kingdom thought to question why this man even had a video of this. That is if they even realized that it was him because let's be honest, the people of the realm are oblivious to a lot of stuff throughout the movie.
For a brief second, you can see that the username of one of the people who commented is "Rising_Pho3nis_23" and that just makes me realize how much foreshadowing these people included throughout the whole movie.
We see at some point that the first riot at the Institute was filmed when, at 57:59, in the recommended videos someone is watching, the top one is "Rhino runs riot at the Institute"
"I just want to be your friend. Is it ever gonna be enough?" Those are the only lyrics I was able to catch from the dance sequence, but those hit hard when you realize that Nimona is really just looking for a friend. And also that even with Nimona and Bal's efforts to prove that the Institute is bad, there efforts weren't enough (because the Director just turns the blame on them again)
When Nimona-Director is on the other side of the door with the pizza, their eyes do the reflection thing with the lighting.
During the scene where we see the civilians gathered in front of the Institute and yelling things like "Liar" and holding up sign that say "Villain" and "Liar" we see the statue of Gloreth standing in front of all of them bathed in red light, and it's almost like all of those things are being yelled at her.
"Zombies are immortal eternal beings. There's no way to kill them." "But what if they come for us?" *Attacks the zombies* Funny how fear drives them attack first, just like fear drove the villagers to attack Nimona first.
When the Director tries to warn everyone of Nimona, the "monster", she accidentally puts everyone against everyone, and, as we see in the pub, everyone starts to mistrust the people around them.
I have a theory as to why Nimona was painted as child in the scroll: It was to serve as a warning. It was to show that this "monster" could try to manipulate you into thinking it was harmless by becoming something that doesn't pose much of a threat: a child.
Nimona saying "I have not slept like that in forever." Who else thinks it's because they used to always have their guard up and was always a light sleeper in case they needed to flee quickly? Like, they didn't want to put themselves in a vulnerable position too long so they got used to getting maybe one or two hours of sleep every now and then.
I'll stop there for now. Might make more if y'all like this!

I talked a lot about Stella’s appearances previously, but I wanted to talk about her other appearance in season one—this scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene is interesting to me. I’ve seen some discussion on tumblr debating that this scene was only showing that Stolas felt guilty about cheating on Stella, not that Stolas was actually in the wrong for doing so.
And I find this logic fascinating b/c, yes if you would like to interpret it that way, you can. It’s up to you to decide how you want to interpret or engage with any work.
That said, I don’t think that competent and consistent writing would make the audience try to justify why Stella was there in hindsight. (Conversation continues below cut)
This scene is significant to me because the visual composition and direction of the animation puts Stella at the same level of importance as Octavia.
Which, in my opinion, means that this is one of the few times Helluva Boss did “Show don’t Tell” really well.
Through the visuals, the lyrics of the song, and Stolas’ reaction to Ozzie’s conjured Stella and Via, the audience is told that “these are people Stolas has both failed. He knows he has failed them and fears losing them. But he still hasn’t considered how his actions would impact them, and is now being faced with the idea of that possibility for the first time”
I specifically say that “he’s afraid of losing them” because the illusion of Octavia and Stella both turn their backs on Stolas, leaving him with just Blitzø. It’s extremely clear visual story telling—Stolas wants to be with Blitzø, but in doing so he is neglecting and will potentially lose his relationships with his wife and child.
And, at this point, because it’s before S2E1, the audience has still not been told that Stella is evil and abusive, and have no reason to think that Stolas wouldn’t care if Stella left (and again you can argue that there’s foreshadowing in hindsight but I have already gone over in depth why there isn’t enough information about Stella for the audience to see that coming)
What this part of the song is communicating to us is that Stella has at least some importance in Stolas’ life.
I think you could say that “well obviously Ozzie just didn’t know enough about Stolas’ personal life” but at the same time, what is being depicted in the show is also for the audience’s benefit.
When you are using a visual medium for your story-telling, your compositions and what you physically show the audience is important.
Like this isn’t subtext, it’s not even subtle—in a scene that is depicting Stolas’ shame, guilt, and embarrassment over his affair with Blitzø, Stella is included with Octavia because he knows he wronged her too.
(Also I almost didn’t write “Stolas’ shame, guilt etc.” b/c I was like “well wait, I can’t remember for sure that Stolas was shown as being ashamed or embarrassed about his relationship with Blitzø” so I went back to check and rewatched Ozzie’s and like.. Stolas being ashamed of his affair with Blitzø was shown even more explicitly than I remembered. Like, he straight up tries to ditch Blitzø and then hides his face after Ozzie asks him if he gave up his family to be with Blitzø ????
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Blitzø’s reaction to this shows he’s obviously hurt by this? Like. I know some people have acted like Blitzø is in the wrong for rejecting Stolas after Ozzie’s but I can’t imagine not being hurt by this reaction…)
Tumblr media
But anyway, back to the main point—All of these visuals and the character’s reactions to what’s going on around them are meant to illicit emotions within us, but if Stella’s abuse and complete cruelty were always planned and she was always supposed to be hated, the emotional impact this scene is significantly lessened.
I know I’ve already said this, but I just can’t help thinking that the story would have been SO MUCH more interesting if Stolas was held fully accountable and actually had to reflect on his actions. There was so much potential for the plot and deep nuanced character development and change.
At the end of the day though, it’s not my story, and the writers and creative heads of HB get to tell the story they want to tell.
As a final note—I am not trying to nitpick, these are things that occur to me while I am trying to understand the story and engage with it on a deeper level.
But with every new episode, I find myself having more questions about why certain choices were made, and getting more and more confused about why characters behave the way they do. I can’t help thinking that the story was never fully planned out, and I worry that’s only going to become more obvious as time goes on.

The songs of Young Royals - S1 E1
So after a few re-watch I started noticing how well the songs are used in the show and I wanted to chat a little bit about it ^^ (Because I'm usually watching alone with my cat and he doesn't really care about my opinions on how awesome the show is at picking its songs :p So hopefully people here will be more interested!!)
Bad, Farveblind
Tumblr media
I think it's wrong I think it's bad I think it's lame I think it's horrible The song starts when we see Wilhelm at the club where he gets in a fight and then we get the chorus through his earbuds in the car (note: I love it when a show put a music in the background that ends up being something a character is actually listening to in the scene!!). He just got out of a shitty situation which will have huge repercussions on his life and his mother is making decisions about his life without asking him: the show is not subtle about telling us how "wrong" and "bad" it is. And despite this lil' foreshadowing (the song plays before Minou tells Wille about his mother's decisions) and Wilhelm's strong opinion against them, it's still gonna happen. Going to a boarding school is "lame" (or so Wilhelm thinks) and the whole situation is "horrible". And yeah, it's gonna suck on a lot of points, but it's also gonna change his life...
Wannabee Ghetto, Fata Boom
Tumblr media
... Keep up the front like it's your decision ... Look our best Covering up what we're missin It's literally what Wilhelm has to do now. His mother decided for him that he should change school and enroll at Hillerska, he is not happy about this plan but has to pretend he's okay with it. He just lied to the public that it was a decision he took part in. He is the prince, even if he's not (yet) the Crown Prince, and he has an image to maintain. An image that was damaged due to the video of the fight: someone is literally putting make up on him to "cover up" the marks of the fight so he can look his "best". And what is he missing? Well August will say it at least twice: he doesn't have the same drive as him or Erik. So he's missing the desire to be on top, to be king, to keep the status quo...
It takes a fool to remain sane, The Ark
Tumblr media
... Wasn't life supposed to be more than this ... Let go off my hand and it will slip on the sand If you don't give me the chance To break down the walls of attitude I ask nothing of you, not even your gratitude 'Cause it takes a fool to remain sane ... Of becoming like the others Who become unhappy mothers And fathers of unhappy kids This song!! Such a great choice for their first song <3 Wilhelm being so incredibly unhappy and stuck because "being a prince is a privilege, not a punishment" but he wants more for his life. It is supposed to be "more than this", more than pressure and appearance. The song going on with the "unhappy mothers / unhappy kids" while we follow Erik and Wilhelm stiffly posing for pictures outside. How can Wilhelm not be scared? Is it the life that awaits him? Always keeping a nice front, not being himself? And why is that? 'Cause they've forgotten how to play But Erik and Wilhelm haven't forgotten yet!! Right after these lyrics we have a playful Erik who suggests they take off in the middle of the photo-shoot! And they do!! So there's hope for them!!
I see you, Nadia Tehran
Tumblr media
Back to their bases Covering their faces Tones through the breeze yeah The power calls crises Round my crowd No cops allowed Interestingly the song starts with "you ain't welcome here, you don't look like us". This part is not in the show but works so well for Wilhelm starting at Hillerska. He's getting hazed by his peers "covering their faces" and being really rough with him (this hazing is so yucky, I struggle watching it every time ^^'), and he's welcome here because he's the prince, because he's supposed to be part of their world. But he's not gonna be like them. Do they know it already? "You don't look like us", and thanks god for that!! (And yup, "no cops allowed", right August? You can do whatever you want here without any consequences...)
Blah blah blah, Armin van Buuren
Tumblr media
All we ever hear from you is blah blah blah So all we ever do is go ja ja ja And we don't even care about what they say The song plays while August is talking to Wilhelm about being among his peers and criticizing him for wanting to be "normal" at his previous school. I love that this song is playing because, yes, it's a good party song, but also, it's probably what everyone watching the show is thinking when August is being an insufferable prick like that! And Wilhelm too, who just usually goes "ja ja ja / yes yes yes" to what August tells him (until he stops and finally goes openly against him, but for now in the show, he just listens and nods). Erik told him he should listen and trust August, so he listens to him. But at this moment Simon appears, and suddenly Wilhelm "don't even care about what they say" because the cute boy he already has a big crush on just arrived. And August and his stupid speeches about rich people being above everyone else don't matter anymore.
