some notes for 20.09.2023 post and a separate cut out for utena because i spent a very long time rendering her ... the original concept i had in my head for this art was very different. it was just supposed to be a style study of this an official anime prop design art, and i'd thought to draw anthy in a similar pose across from her like in the shown version, but with her wearing her prince outfit from the manga. something something another form of female competition under the patriarchyyy stop pitting 2 girlprinces against each other omg etc (side note, how sick would it have been in an AU where akio made anthy fight against utena in the ring? like i dont think it would hav added more to the story or made it better really ... probably would've diluted the message to be honest ... but everytime i see that manga art of prince anthy i imagine some convoluted black rose arc AU where utenas dodging anthy getting her hair hacked off left and right like himemiyaaa nooo snap out of it this isnt uuu while anthys silent and dead eyed hahaha) but then after i drew prince anthy, the picture looked rather empty ... so i thought to add a few decals or borders in the style of the show & official arts but aaahh ... there was still too much negative space. i had to scrap anthy's prince outfit and put her back in her rose bride dress 😭 man !!! he cant keep getting away this !!! [blames akio the figurehead of patriarchy instead of taking responsibility of my own actions] which made me sad because i was pretty satisfied with the way i drew her pose and legs ! but i had to cover it up 🥲 ... the composition overall looked better though. and then after that it kept spiraling. i just kept adding more and more things until i lost control of this drawing and it plagued my WIP folder for months ... i dont want to try and connect all of it in words so ill just lay out all the pieces for you so you can connect them yourself. and you can experience my art thought process in fraction of erraticity and frustration as i experience it myself. this is a lot neater than what happened in my head though because i bothered to put it in order. honestly if i can make you feel a little bit insane trying to scroll through and read all this than i can make you understand how annoying my brain is when all i wanted to draw was utenanthy girlprinces fighting starting references & inspiration: utena prop reference sheet & manga prince!anthy

Fnaf au where William figures out how to actually resurrect cc and then the aftons just have to live with that— not only is cc undead now but dad is freaking victor Frankenstein !! (like, literally, I imagine William discovered how to harvest remnant from recently deceased corpses rather then killing anyone himself, thus the mci doesn’t happen and Charlie doesn’t die either)

well, how about this, while I wait for the roofers to come fix the mess they made of my ceiling. just so I can feel like I'm doing something productive.

since my savings are now significantly smaller than they were a week and a half ago, I guess now's a good enough time as any to start talking about some half-decided plans I have for this upcoming story I've been writing, and perhaps other original stories as well if this goes well.

while I'm still going to be posting the bulk of my work on AO3 like I usually do, I think I'm also going to be launching a patreon!

here's the soft plan, though I'm still working out details:

serialize this story at a chapter each week, which will probably take a few months overall.

chapters will be posted to AO3 the same day every week, and a week early on patreon.

extra material will also be on patreon, from author commentary to essays on historical/mythological background that's going into the story to extra fics that will be a few thousand words each. (or... so.)

the main story will fully stand alone. extra scenes will be like... stuff happening from other POVs offscreen, flashbacks, a sappy post-story fic, etc.

after the story is fully done being posted, an ebook version of the story will be made available to patrons with thanks, etc. to everyone who supported the project.

??? repeat?? m/m minotaur story this time, f/f witch who owns a familiar animal shelter story next time. lmao

part of me is still like "no, no one will pay money to support your writing" but like. I've seen worse writers than me make money, I guess, so why not try? it's not like it can hurt, and it can be fun to experiment with new methods of distribution sometimes.

I'll probably post a survey once I've finished the rough draft of the fic so I can plan out the finer details, but that's my basic plan. I want to write the whole fic and edit it before I start posting anything, and at the rate I'm going... I'm aiming for the beginning of May? it's at about 70k rn, and I'm thinking it probably has about 10-20k to go.

so I guess we'll see!!!

i don't get the idea that stampede rushing through things is fine, good even, because the manga rushed too.

the early manga was unpolished and seemingly unplanned. the original run's ending was penned in later because the magazine it was in went under. the tonal whiplash in trimax volume 1 was a side effect of moving from a shonen magazine to a seinen one. heck, there's that story floating around that vash's hair color changed because nightow just thought it'd look cool, and he came up with a reason later.

of course the 98 anime's slower pace wasn't a standalone decision either--it padded things out because it had 26 episodes to fill and barely any of the overarching plot to work with. but the fact that many people remember the mystery/slow reveal aspects of it so fondly suggests that a slower pace is not a bad thing. it gave the show room to breathe and spend time with the characters before it hit the meat. imo the goofy-yet-thoughtful first half is trigun 98's biggest strength.

was it overly slow at times? yeah. but the answer to that isn't to sprint through every existing plot point. it's to find a nice middle ground.

#this got rambly #honestly. i've kinda reminded myself of that sailor moon reboot that someone wrote a huge long critique of #something they mentioned was that being so 'manga accurate' was a FAULT of the reboot #that the original anime had introduced a lot of heart and fixed plot issues by making small changes. and the reboot tossed it all out #of course i want a manga accurate trigun+trimax anime. without the redesigns or replacing characters #but the manga has its own faults & i think acting like no one can critique anything that happens to align with the manga is ridiculous #yoshiposts #long post

you guys are being so unfair to the new VAs just cause you're attached to the old ones. it's unfortunate that they weren't asked to return, but i'm sure there were reasons behind it. especially with a certain someone who, bless his heart, cannot sing (at least in a character voice), which is really bad for a musical show, and probably was a motivating factor in the recasting. instead of harping on the past and bothering the old VAs about it, why can't you just wait to see how things shake out in the show? you could grow to like the new people. we have only a few seconds of dialogue for most of the characters, so don't be so quick to pass judgment.

#its just really frustrating to see so many people say 'there was no reason to replace x' when they dont know what happened behind the scenes #especially with angel. i have listened to addict countless times and while i love it. it is heavily autotuned and its super noticable #i dont have a preference for most of the voices cause tbh most of them sound really similar to me but ive heard blake sing and he's amazing #no hate to michael. he seems really nice but i can see why they decided to recast. and with a couple of the characters #they managed to get the people the original cast was trying to replicate the sound of. which is super cool imo #it would have been nice for some relatively unknown people to make it into the big leagues but tbh hazbin is still super niche #and the big voices help legitimize it as a 'real tv show' instead of just a youtubers passion project #and theyre actually talented too and not phoning it in

#duck speaks #dhmis #I know I draw them already but my thoughts on them have changed since then #I think it would be more fun if they had different personalities from the original guys #closer to the personality of the one they got the color from but still kinda similar to the original guy also #kinda like a mix #and also #they are like a glitch that happened when the machine was unplugged and are not supposed to exist #they were probably put away in a separate house until Lesley or whoever figured out what to do with them #but then they were eventually forgotten about and so technically allowed to do whatever they want #I think they probably got like the first 3 or 4 teachers sent to them before they were forgotten tho #also they tried to tear the sketchbook in half so :/#(Green guy didn't take well to being called uncreative tried to tear them up but Red duck tried to intervene only to make it worse I think)#I think if they met the originals (who probably were replaced after the glitch I bet)#things would start to get weird #they are not supposed to be in close proximity to their doubles or they could start to glitch out and stuff #they can meet the other guys from the trio that aren't like the glitch version of themself and be fine tho #they do not particularly like the other versions of their friends tho #they think that they aren't acting right and all that #oh I've also seen people making like #black and white version of the guys too #maybe that's what happens when the doubles get too close to eachother?#the originals can be replaced if this happens #but the swap color ones can't because they don't have backups (again they're not supposed to exist)#so.. yeah #they'd just stay that way #:/#oh well #there's other rgb trios #puppets

man, it's so hard to find good versions of iron chef nowadays

#like obviously music manipulations are done to avoid copyright strikes #but either they cut out some part of the music so it sounds weirdly empty #or they replace the music entirely with different tracks that i don't know #i did find one person who didn't seem to do any audio editing #but they did crop the video so you couldn't read the chairman's subtitles #which is sad because his little blurb about the ingredient ahead of revealing it is always fun #of course i am grateful that people are still uploading these things #since it's not like i can just turn on the tv and watch some episode that happens to be on #but still i miss watching the full original versions #just glad i finally i found the 2000 plate special #that one's living with me for as long as i can shuttle it from computer to computer

i'm an office manager which means that i'm responsible for all the paperwork (all invoices go through me), calls and emails. and i act like an assistant to basically everyone in our office. including shit like booking flights and hotels and taking care of everyone's cars and insurances etc. buying office supplies, taking care of how our office looks, making tea & coffee for guests, booking rooms, making sure our management signs the papers on time etc. etc. etc.

doesn't sound that bad but the 'acting like an assistant' is tricky. because i get like 20 daily requests from people to take care of something asap. like, paying a fine, calling some place to ask about something, scheduling a meeting, making changes in booking, registering a car etc.

now it's extra stressful bc i'm organizing a christmas party for 120+ people and it's not easy when you need to book hotels for 30 people, book a restaurant, decide on a menu, confirm attendance etc. and your guests are dickheads who don't care if you have to change their reservation 4 times in 3 days.

#and there is no one who can replace me when it's needed. like when i took a week off it took me another 2 weeks to catch up with work #because some things are easy but it would take weeks of training to thoroughly prepare someone to do my job #and no one has time for this because they have their own jobs and duties #but despite this my coworkers help me as much as they can :') and they really support me #there's only one department full of shitheads and 90% of my problems originate there lmao most of the company hates them #tbh most of my problems would be solved if they just hired another person and split the work between us but #it's always been one person so 🤡#and sometimes it gets really calm and i don't have anything to do for a few hours. it's been months since something like that happened but #it happened a few times in the past lol #answered #i really can't quit this job because it pays well (i mean for a person with no degree). and out of obligation.#i need to finish my degree because now there's no way i would find something that could pay my rent 😭#but i promised myself i won't stay here for longer than 2 years unless they offer me a different position #but until then you have to listen to my complaining every day agkdgjdfj sorry

So ya know how some pokè fans are tired of the "friendly" rivals , like Hop ? I have an idea that I think could be a good alternative to the friendly rival, and very interesting from a story pov.

Since Scarlett and Violet are the new games, let's say that's the games this story takes place in.

Ya start off as childhood friends with Infer (since Scarlett and Violet are based on the color spectrum of light, I chose Infer, like infrared light, as a name for the rival) .

They start out all nice and friendly, sort of like Barry from diamond,pearl ,and platinum.

Yeah you two are besties but they still want to win the battles.

After the first battle they get a bit weird. They make an odd face, something akin to frustration.

They aren't happy that they lost but they still congratulate you, even though the smile on their face is strained. They say that they'll get stronger, and this will be the last time they lose to you. They leave you there but the promise that they will get stronger.

Then you run into them again . It's a quiet place . It's calm ,it's peaceful, somewhere in a garden or something .There are beautiful flowers surrounding you .their smile is a little bit less strained than when you last saw them. They challenge you to another battle and they lose again. They are not happy. They do not smile . They frown but it's a sad frown. They are upset that they could not beat you this time ,even with all their training. They say that they will train even harder now, now that they know your tricks you can't beat them again. Not with the same old tricks at least.

A little bit later they asked something of you. They'd like to see your strategy on a Pokemon doll. They want to see what makes your team so effective. You show them ,of course you would, they're your friend. They seem happy. They tell you they just want to know what makes you so strong. They want to be strong.

It's been a little bit since you last saw them. They do not smile as they approach you . In fact they almost look angry. They challenge you to another battle, and they use some of your old tricks on you. Once you defeat them again they're more than angry. They're infuriated.

Infer has always been kind to you ,yet at this moment, you have your doubts. Infer use something you showed them to their advantage in a battle against you. You show them your strategies and what do you get ? A knife in the back!

Throughout the game you always fight some evil team and this time will probably be no exception. And one point or another you and Infer end up sneaking into this team's base. Infer will not let you leave .They will not heal your Pokemon . You have to keep going further in, you have to keep battling.

Then you need the big boss. Except there's no one there, the room is empty except you and Infer. They smile and tell you their plan.

They had not been involved at first ,but well to beat you they had to grow stronger and what better way to do that ,than gain control of the legendary Pokemon? The old boss had a good plan together ,but Infer was stronger, and simply replaced them.

Now they've got you here , tired , weak , helpless , alone. Because you had to be a hero and go in by yourself, of course like the good friend they are ,they followed after you. And you didn't think anything of it.

So now it comes down to one last final battle. It isn't rival versus rival anymore. Now it's much much bigger than just the two of you. Now your life lies in your hands and the hands of your Pokemon. And depending on how this battle goes ,it just might be the sake of the world too.
