It just dawned on me that Annabel rising from the dead was only the second time Malcolm had witnessed a resurrection. The first time, it was Jesse’s. And, oh, the differences! Rune Series: Set 1/6. On beginnings. (All rune sets).

The first rune Shadowhunters receive (sight) and one of the first they learn for survival purposes (healing). Clairvoyance represents Jesse's exclusive visibility to Lucie. As a ghost, Jesse's confined to the box, and thus his flower has wilted. As for the Carstairs siblings, they just deserve time to recover and grow after all they've been through. 😔

My headcanon for Ghostwriter is that Lucie outlives Jesse by a few years (the life expectancy for women was 3 years more than men at the time) but he comes back as a ghost (a normal one this time) and haunts her and their family because death can't do them apart <3 Then, once she dies, they cross the threshold together
