I’ve finally acknowledged that Breaking Dawn, indeed, hit 2k kudos, so here’s my statement on that:
WHAT THE FUUUUUCK!!!
Tumblr media
I was surprised when it hit 1k, but then it went on a bit of a hiatus starting in September, so I wasn’t sure it would ever get its readers back.
In September, something Very Bad happened to me on my birthday, aka the day after chapter 13 of Breaking Dawn was released. After that, I stopped writing for a bit. You guys may have noticed that October and November and December were very empty months, and that’s because I legit couldn’t bring myself to get onto my computer to even open my email, let alone try writing more than once a month.
Breaking Dawn is my baby. I stole the au itself from Moth, but I’ve put so much into the fic that it’s just. Very special to me. Reading chapter 13’s comments on my birthday legitimately saved my life, and I’ll never be more grateful for anything in my life.
I might tease my audience a lot with this fic, but I really do love and appreciate every single person who has even clicked to read it, let alone everyone who’s given kudos or left a comment or a bookmark or an ask or a reblog or an anything. Every chapter I write is a celebration of the ship, and it’s a celebration of our collective love and appreciation for Spiderbit’s story.
So… thank you. This might be ridiculous to read because it’s about a goddamn minecraft cube fanfiction, but I really do owe both you guys and the fic a lot. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for y’all, and I appreciate everything you’ve done for me by supporting my silly little werewolf fic.
In conclusion:

GENRE: fluff - music au
FEATURED: etho ofc! - and a snippet of grian?
WARNINGS: ooc
PROMPT: joel and etho are a music unit
WORD COUNT: 572
//smalletho are the shumika of minecraft-
On the other side of the curtains, the two could hear shuffling and loud chatter.
Joel checked over his uniform, fiddling with the fabrics over his wrists, situating the garment pieces to their respective places. He glances over to his left, seeing Etho reciting over the script one final time before their last few minutes of waiting to be called upon.
Etho's face scrunched with emotions. Confusion and wonder are the ones taking the long drive.
"Are you two ready?" The two looked towards the corner of the room at the far back, seeing their producer, Grian, peeking his head through the doorway, a clipboard in his hold, his attention focused on the two singers.
"We're always prepared for these lives, right Etho?"
"Indeed."
"That's good," Grian nods, "the curtains are just about to pull open, so I suggest getting into your positions and turning on your microphones." He taps near his ear to indicate his words.
Not long after, and the male producer leaves, Joel and Etho head up the steps that lead to the massive stage. The vocals of the audience could be heard much louder.
"The art and crafts crew have done wonderful yet again with these props," Etho whispers in awe, eyes wide whilst looking around the stage. The backdrop behind them and some pop-up props sitting about in the right positions were placed here and there along the stage to match with the theme of the two's song.
"They always do. The crew never seemed to have a limitation to making such things." Joel replies back whilst situating his microphone, twisting the piece over his ear and placing the main bit as close to his lips respectively, preparing for when his vocals would be needed.
The two then walk up to the middle of the stage, their heads bowed down, standing back to back.
The lights all around suddenly dim down. The curtains in front of Joel and Etho pull open as the voices of the audience pull to a hush. The sound of music begins to play slowly.
"Let's do this, Etho. Once and for all." Joel whispers as he then knocks his head up once the music fastens with a beat. He takes a couple of steps forward, arms reach out as his lips part, and lyrics begin to flow.
Etho then follows with, creating similar actions.
Their voices string together in synchronisation. The melody flows smoothly through the forests stream. The lights around them change hues from time to time to match the theme of the songs mood.
Their figures twist and slip. Their vocals' toning reach high and low. Some lyrics Joel sang by himself, with Etho doing the same a minute after. Mostly, they sang together, creating a great piece that only they could make.
Warmth begins to sink itself in from the overhead lights, causing sweat to produce... until at last, the last remaining seconds of the song come to a close, Joel and Etho stand at the very front of the stage. One arm each reaches out to the sides, their other arms folded over with the palm of their hands against their chest as they bow forward with some smiles.
The audience roar on.
No matter how many times they played a song - fresh or other - the adrenaline that came with playing in front of so many people, with said figures always cheering them on, never ceased the excitement.

One thing I am not sure that Forever and Cellbit know is that the Spanish speakers are not majorly logging on due to the eggs. I agree the huge lore also plays a part in it but for them it's majorly the eggs. Spreen and Rubius were vocal about their opinions since the start and Rubius still says that he won't log on until the eggs are dead. Now Missa has also expressed his opinions about how the egg arc restricts people and is causing the audience to go harass the creators if they don't want to interact with that side of the server and just want to play regular Minecraft with their friends.
Now I know everyone is planning on giving immunity to eggs in some way or the other. So if they are indeed allowed to remove the 2 life rules on the server and just let the eggs be normal players who the players are allowed to interact on their own whim, and this is proposed in combination with the lore museum - I think that's what would provide people with an incentive to log on without being pressured by the people to produce content that don't have any interest in

Reminiscing on the Dream SMP (part 1)
Hey guys, I was thinking about Dream SMP the other day. That server was a lot of fun in its day even as the content creator Dream turns out to be a terrible person.
It's been a little over a year since Tommy's DSMP ending and I thought I would reminisce on it.
The main question I have for the server is just how its final streams were so bas.
In its day, it was pretty cool and I believe it helped inspire a lot of future SMPs, showing creators how much fans had an appetite for story in a minecraft server (it wasn't the first but it was certainly influential).
One of its main strengths that first attracted me to it was the improv lead stories slowly evolving into loosely scripted streams.
By loosely scripted, I mean they had a concrete plans for the story beats but still left the actual dialogue up to the streamers to come up with which, when it worked, gave you some really natural sounding dialogue that at least somewhat reacted to the world around it.
The actual storylines were nothing too special. But the medium helped uplift them to feel extra unique - you would often get long unhurried streams allowing any important plot points to really breathe and get to see the characters going about their days, often doing things like rebuilding structures or mining even in content heavy streams - which many were not. This all helped the world feel very lived in and surprisingly immersive. Streamers interactions with their viewers through their chats was also an important element. This helped streamers as they had a live audience to judge their content off of and also to bounce off of, which was especially useful when they were streaming alone as it gave them an audience to naturally deliver soliloquys about their characters thoughts or just allowed them to narrate what they were doing at any given moment.
Being a server with many different streamers was also an interesting element. Viewers were not expected to watch all of it and indeed there was tons of content - another amazing about it was the sheer amount of content you got from it, such as multiple multi-hour streams every day - sometimes a different perspective of the same events, sometimes something completely different at the same time. I like to compare the server to comic books in that regard. They all took place in the same server but what stream you watched was what character you wanted to follow. And some fans would keep up with multiple, some only one or maybe two characters. But they were all fans of the server even though gradually they diverged more into their own separate fan groups - especially as different streamers had very different styles of content.
All this is to say that streaming was a cool medium for the Dream SMp and it was both a huge strength and sometimes a weakness. One reason I was such a fan of Tommy's exile arc was essentially how it was able to tell a story of isolation and the development of an abusive dynamic rather uniquely as with streams you got to see the everyday and see the character going about their day-to-day routine while gradually becoming more depressed. It basically used streaming and the minecraft medium to its advantage so well that I appreciate it almost artistically.
There were downsides to streaming as well. Overtime the fans increasingly labelled streams as heavy lore or semi lore or non-canon depending on what the streamer was up to as some days they just streamed building something and didn't want to interact with the server's plot. Sometimes the streamers would do stuff for content and looking at the wider story it was very easy to see these characters as terrible people or struggle with the disconnects. Sometimes jokes would turn into the most serious plots and there was some real whiplash.
But as I said. I don't really believe the story or characters were all that special. But the nature of the Dream SMP elevated it and when it was good, it felt like something special.

If memory serves right you mentioned professional gamer!xiao?
I hope i deliver! (Ofc hope ur day is going well and ur not shriveling up in the heat like i am)
PG(professional gamer)! Xiao would absolutely have THOUSANDS of fan
Most would be simps, but a good portion would be impressed by his speedrun skills, how well he handle jumpscares and doesn't interrupt dialogue? Helloooo??? Hand in marriage rn.
I cannot see him with facecam though, he probably though his facial expressions arent as good as other streamers who are more lively than him. I can see him being a casual gamer sometimes playing co-op shooters? A few peaceful games for his more younger audience if he has one
Onto his fandom...
I can see his fans being um.. feral? If he ever posted a picture of his face i can see him blowing up on every social media in mere hours, edits and everything being done. Hell, a picture of his shadow would make them lose it. But he would absolutely keep his fandom on a strict leash especially if hes aware of their ages. Im rolling off of ganyu's story quest, that he would be strict with his chat and have many mods to control their outrageous behavior. His fandom would probably would be the most well behaved out there.
But if he gets hate? Prayin for them. I hope they're okay. Passive aggressive threats 😰
His gaming style?
I can see him playing occasionally with Hu Tao or Childe, maybe in a horror game he doesn't know about
"You go first."
"Im not going first."
"Oh my god go first-" and it keeps going on like that for awhile till Xiao goes first and gets jumpscared envitably.
I dont see him actually screaming or getting scared? More like a huff and "you guys are dramatic" thing but on the rare occasion he is scared its just a swift movement of the mouse and maybe he hit his mic thats all. A few curse words thats it.
The games he would play?
I can see him playing multiple games, mostly small indie game devs from itch.io maybe a few big games but he likes giving credits to smaller game devs on steam and other websites but on occasion he posts a poll just in case his viewers get bored of his style :/
Another thing, he would absolutely have a day dedicated to having no mic or anything just him playing a game like Unpacking or Minecraft, or calm game like stardew maybe some soft copyright free music.
Charity events?
Bro raises thousands 💀 especially if theres a goal involved? Met the same day.
Now im back in my minecraft phase purely because the new update but The Warden being out gives me so many ideas about PG!Xiao.
Him coming across it the first time and freezing up, because the warden has a heartbeat effect that fades your screen in and out its literally so terrifying even if you know its there.
The clicking noises is horrendous, Xiao literally audibly saying "Hell no." As soon as he hears it literally SNIFF HIM OUT (it sniffed me before and i almost cried) and trying to escape, but pisses it off more and it uses That horrendously loud sonic screech to kill him because oh my god you cant tower away from it to escape and he stared in shock while chat spams F's in chat.
Tumblr media
oh boy. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR BLESSING ME DEAR FISCHL ANON <33 sorry this took so long, but i had to stare a bit at this ask and got lazy answering for a time but psht
more brainrot under the cut hehe
yes, i did indeed talk about professional gamer!xiao and it has been on my mind during my finals :D (and i'm doing well, my body finally doesn't die that much anymore when going outside but i'm still a bit sick ew)
PG!xiao would be on a fame level similar to dream. and i stand by this. this man is fan service in person, of course he has millions of followers.
and yes, most would be simps, but then they would look closer and be like, damn this man actually knows what he's doing. this man is definition of speedrun, minecraft speed run? genshin speedrun? acnh speedrun? any kind of speedrun and you bet he did it.
hand in marriage, always. goddamn, he would get so many messages, and it's not only his fans, but also other gamers and influencers. xiao tries to ignore them, but he always gets blushy and flustered over it.
he first started without a face cam, and then had one, but with bad lightening. now that he's a bit more confident, he still has one, but sometimes it gets too much and he just,,, puts a paper over his cam or smth
this man slays in every game he touches. he just has the talent for gaming, you bet he's totally into valorant (maybe that's his professional part), cod, even fortnite (but he slowly started hating this game because of the random kids in it), but also grinding games like hayday or others. he totally has animal crossing new horizon and his island is just... perfection. he's a rich island owner and will spoil the shit out of his fellow islanders.
feral fans for xiao. yes. they see him as their god, too beautiful and skilled for this world. this man doesn't only have a model face but is also a very skilled gamer (professional gamer in valorant, wins in minecraft contests all the time, etc.) and his style... OH AND HIS HAIR. you bet it's his friends who thought eyeliner would make his eyes pop (goddamn he's just beautiful and gorgeous and-) you bet xiao has like the whole color palete just as eyeliners. and he slays in every color
xiao has an army of mods. most of them are older than him, which is why he chose them, and they are very strict with the rules. because yes, you have to keep his fans at a very, very, VERY tight lash. he literally trains them- they can be feral in his twitch chat, his comments, but as soon they are in other fandoms/chats/whatever, they must behave. and they do. nobody wants to be responsible for a disappointed xiao. he is very strict with his chat, but let's them have their 5 minutes (chat always breaks in those 5 minutes lmao)
xiao getting hate. first of all. WHO?! WHO IS HATING ON HIM?? probably another streamer wanting some drama for more fame. yeah, big mistake. xiao's fanbase cancelling the shit out of them. playing FBI and finding dirt and the reason why this streamer doesn't stream anymore. and this all in 6 hours. not even a day, 6 hours. xiao didn't even realize what his fans were doing, until a friend wrote him how twitter is blowing up.
xiao fanbase is now feared by all. streamers, gamers, influencers. the boogiemen of the internet. and xiao is their god. lmaoo-
him playing with childe and hu tao!!! yes pls. hu tao will always vote for horror games and she will search the internet for the best ones. childe just cackling in the background- fans love it.
xiao would play everything he gets his hands on. naturally the games as professional gamer, but also relaxing games. and he will totally play snake.io
this man is definition of indie game enjoyer and every smaller game dev will pray for their moment- the moment when xiao plays their game and rates it (xiao doesn't know the power he holds. he really doesn't)
viewers will never get bored of xiao, but it's still a big fear of his. his fans will love watching him doing anything- just breathing would be fine too and they will lose their mind. and their hearts melt when xiao is like, uhm yeah today i'm doing something new, so you won't get bored- HHHHHHH
and yes. once xiao does smth, he is dedicated to it and will do it, and nothing can stop him. 24hrs streams? he will play 24hrs, nothing can stop him. no mic day? that means no mic day.
charity events. okay listen. everyone knows xiao is big on charity. and if you wanna look good (as a famous person) you better give the man a few thousands. and his fans? they don't want to get outplayed by attention seeking bitches (that's what they always say, and this is why they always spare more than a few bucks)
also- minecraft. xiao is a minecraft kid, and he will always come back to his roots. this is why i think PG!xiao would be part of this dream/tommyinnit/snapnap/etc. group. not very often, but as soon the peeps say he joins- everyone freaks tf out. all their views go the hell up once xiao joins them, and you bet they want him as often as possible with them (jokes on them, xiao is an anxious little bean, he would rather rot in his room all alone instead of talking to people. his excuse is training for next tournaments lmao- and it works everytime)
xiao would die. and he did. wanna bet he screeched? it's the newest tiktok trend.
"okay, we doing good..." a few seconds pass.
"click. click. click."
"oh fuuuu-", is barely heard, more seconds of xiao muttering and running tf away.
"SREEEEECH."
"SCREEEEEEEEE-", xiao's screech was louder.
yeah- xiao would be trendsetter for tiktok trends and it's all his fans fault. yk those videos which show the videos to the sounds and go viral? since people don't know where thos sounds came from? yes, those. thanks to those, everybody knows it's xiao's screech.
GOD DAMN- PG!XIAO JUST HITS DIFFERENT- okay but, another thing. i'm not really into tournament valorant, but i know a group is slaying rather often there (or i think so??) anyways, xiao is part of said group. what would his chosen character be? cuz i see him as multi player, he slays in everyone he chooses. just as always. xiao just slaying.

Ok but like relating to the asks you sent. Roleplay is so rgrhrgehrghrgrgridneh . I want the lord of the rings of sex ok. JRR tolkein will have nothing on the level of worldbuilding i do on a daily basis for what in real life would probably take like an hour of my time at most. Youve heard of the minecraft of sex but now get ready for the NICHE INTERNET WEBCOMIC OF SEX
This should be the only post on nsfw tumblr. I completely understand this entire ask and resonate with it heavily. You get it. Niche internet webcomic of sex indeed.
Most of my kinks and the roles I take in kink arise from my interests. I have always been very immersed in fiction and it has shaped who I am today; and who I am is a very sexual person, so naturally my interests are woven into that (and by extension roleplay).
For me, my interest in bdsm is just as much about the roleplay as it is the sex. Make no mistake, I love having lots of sex, but I want a STORY to go with it. It's not that I don't want the sex I just need IMMERSION in it.
So yes in full seriousness I WORLDBUILD MY KINKY FREAK SEX. I genuinely do. I guarantee you the majority of my posts on this blog have names and settings and characters and lore attached to them, I just take those out so they're more appealing to a wider audience (and because I'm not ballsy enough to cross-post into the fandoms for the things I'm referencing).
I could talk about this for ages!

Minecraft 'loophole' Library Of Banned Journalism
It began as a game on a forum online and turned into the best-selling video game ever However, now Minecraft is being used for something even its creator could not have imagined.
The hub of free speech has taken on the legendary game, which consisted of putting Lego-like blocks together with more than 145 million players each month, and turned into a symbol.
To host articles written by journalists who were censored online, a virtual library was meticulously designed. fun-gallery.com
Work of Jamal Khashoggi, the journalist who was killed by Saudi agents in 2018, can be read among the plethora of books available in the library.
Minecraft has declined to comment.
Reporters Without Borders, a non-profit organization that aims to protect the freedom of information throughout the world, created the project. Blockworks, the design studio responsible for the Minecraft library, created it.
Christian Mihr, executive director of Reporters Without Borders Germany, told the BBC that Minecraft was good for the project as he believes that it isn't seen as a threat by the governments that control their media.
He said that Minecraft was chosen due to its accessibility. It is accessible in every country. The game is not subject to censorship as other games that are suspected to be politically motivated.
"There are big communities in each of the countries featured, that's why the idea came up as an opportunity to bypass censorship."
The authors were selected to represent countries where press freedom was restricted, so that people from those communities would be able to access their work.
He also said that permissions were sought prior to republishing in the library.
"We have not uploaded any content into the library without the consent of the author - if they're still alive.
"In the Jamal Khashoggi case, we spoke to family members - with regard to the safety of deceased relatives, and the safety their families."
Nick Feamster, Neubauer Professor of Computer Science, at the University of Chicago, stated to the BBC that the library could beat censors, but was concerned about the reaction of governments.
He said that it was an interesting idea but there were some issues. Governments will know about this - the articles are going all over the internet. It's not secure against an armed adversary.
He said that the strength of the library was due to its use of Entanglement, which is the mixing of the censored materials and the video game for the censors' eyes.
He added, "By entangling the two items, you force them all to share content." "You can't block this one without the other."
Helmi Noman who is a Research Associate at the Berkman Klein Centre for Internet & Society, stated that he thought the library would only have a small audience.
"The content that is censored is constantly changing diverse and dispersed," he said, saying that in his study "the users prefer methods that don't pre-select and compartmentalise content in certain spaces online.
"Any strategy that doesn't offer an unhindered, secure browsing experience across the entire web, social media, and direct messaging apps is likely to fail."
Due to the sheer number of players trying to login simultaneously, the server could not be regularly accessed. Despite this limit on simultaneous users, it has been visited by 3,889 players from 75 different countries. It has also been downloaded over 7,000 times.
After two hours of attempting, BBC finally visited the virtual library and asked its users what they thought.
SoulfulGenie stated that they believed "it requires more books as well as a new section on North Korea" and another user called it "ingenious in many ways" adding that, as the library can be downloaded and downloaded by other users, "it is easy to replicate and therefore hard to eliminate".
Meanwhile, other players focused on the appearance of the library, with ReduxPL saying it "looks incredible indeed".
Blockworks took 250 hours to design the library, which was completed by 24 people from 16 different countries.
James Delaney, Managing Director of the design company, told the BBC that the company's goal was to create a classic design which was "on the edge of fantasy".
He said that it was feasible as a building, but it is over the limit of what is possible.
"We chose to design it in the neoclassical style. It's very similar to the British Museum or New York's public libraries.
He claimed that Minecraft was improvisational at its core, so builders weren't restricted to following a specific design.
He explained that when there are many people working on the same task, people can see each other's work and must react in real-time. It's a reactive method of working and that can change the look of the project.

Demystifying the Metaverse in Education: Part 1 of 2
Tumblr media
Imagine walking into a classroom. The teacher hands you a document with the homework you need to get done. You step out and meet a classmate, who discusses the previous week’s assignment. Then you walk together to the AV room, and watch a video.
Now imagine that you did this, not in-person, but as an avatar in an immersive 3D environment. You just experienced the metaverse in education.

What do you think of when you hear the word ‘metaverse’?
Many of us think it’s all about VR headsets that power realistic virtual walkthroughs and experiences. Another common picture many of us have in our minds when we think of the metaverse is gaming — games like Minecraft or Roblox where your avatar explores, creates, collaborates and lives in exciting virtual worlds.
These are indeed both valid examples of the metaverse in action, and yet fall far short of capturing the scope of applications that it can fulfill. The metaverse does not by definition require VR headsets or other specialized hardware — they add to the depth of immersion you experience, but you can navigate a virtual environment just as well with your laptop, tablet or smartphone. Similarly, yes, games are a popular application of the concept of the metaverse today, but you could look at such games as almost a proof-of-concept of the enormous possibilities that the metaverse presents.
We believe one of the earliest and most cogent definitions of the metaverse is the most appropriate one — the ability to navigate the internet through rich, immersive 3D environments.
What this means is that the metaverse is the means of engaging your audience. The end goal is something your business needs to define, and craft your metaverse accordingly. There’s no doubt that the metaverse is suddenly hot, but it’s important to understand what it is, how to use and under what circumstances.
The metaverse in education
Immersion in an online classroom environment makes e-learning more efficient and effective, and improves online learning outcomes. Users can interact with elements that are not directly part of the learning process. This creates the experience of a living, breathing world.
Such immersion in metaverse learning is a strong differentiator since it holds the learner’s attention and does away with distractions. Immersive e-learning therefore becomes a value proposition in itself.
Which would you prefer? To play an immersive 3D simulation game, learning on the way? Or to learn from textbooks, documents or PPTs? All simulation training can be transformed into immersive, gamified 3D learning experiences, and that’s the new world that metaverse learning offers to the education domain.
Stay tuned for the second article in this series, where we go into more detail on the applications of metaverse learning, and why it is so relevant today. Hornbillfx offers Game-based learning solutions, Immersive eLearning solutions, and AR & VR immersive learning solutions.
And, of course, if you would like to know more about how the immersive environments of the metaverse in education could be applied to your e-learning needs, we’d love to talk!

Minecraft 'loophole' Library Of Banned Journalism
It began as a project on a forum online and turned into the best-selling video game of all time however, today Minecraft is being used for something its creator could not have dreamt of.
The center of free speech has taken the iconic game, which involved placing Lego-like blocks with more than 145 million players each month, and turned into a legend.
A virtual library has been carefully designed to host the articles of journalists who were censored on the internet.
You will find the work of Jamal Khashoggi (the journalist who was killed by Saudi agents in 2018) as well as a host of other books at the library.
Minecraft declined to make a comment.
Reporters Without Borders, a non-profit organisation that aims to ensure the privacy of information throughout the world The project was created by the non-profit organization. Blockworks, the design studio that is responsible for the Minecraft library, developed it.
Christian Mihr, the executive director of Reporters Without Borders Germany, said that Minecraft was a great project since he doesn't think it is a threat to governments who restrict their media.
"We have chosen Minecraft because of its reach," he said. "It is available in every nation. The game is not censored like some other games which are suspected of being political.
"There are large communities in each country included, which is why it was suggested that it's a way to circumvent censorship."
He said the authors were chosen to represent countries where press was censored, so that people from those communities could access their work.
He also clarified that permissions were sought prior to publishing the book in the library.
"We didn't put any information into the library without the consent of the author in the event that they're still alive.
"In the Jamal Khashoggi investigation, we spoke to family members - in regard of people who have died, and the safety their families."
Nick Feamster, Neubauer Professor of Computer Science, at the University of Chicago, stated to the BBC that the library could beat censors, but was concerned about the reaction of the government. Minecraft servers
He said that it was an interesting idea however there were some issues. The government will be aware of this - the articles are going across the internet. It won't be foolproof against an armed adversary.
He explained that the strength of the library was due to the use of Entanglement which is the mixing of the censored content and the video game to the censors' eyes.
He said, "By entangling the two things you force them all to share content." "You can't censor one without the other."
In the meantime, Helmi Noman, a Research Affiliate of the Berkman Klein Centre for Internet & Society, said the library could be likely to have a limited audience.
He stated that "censored content is constantly changing and diverse" and that users prefer to use strategies that don't preselect or compartmentalize content into particular areas online.
"Any method that doesn't provide a seamless and secure browsing experience across the entire web including social media, direct messaging applications will probably be unsuccessful."
The server, which hosts a maximum of 100 players at a time, was frequently inaccessible due to the number of players tried to connect at the same time. Despite the limitation on concurrent users, it has been visited by 3,889 players from 75 different countries. It has also been downloaded more than 7,000 times.
After two hours of attempting, BBC finally visited the virtual library and asked users what they thought.
SoulfulGenie stated that they believe it needs more books and one on North Korea. Another user said it was "ingenious" and claimed that the library could be downloaded and reuploaded again by other users. "It is easy to replicate and thus difficult to kill."
Meanwhile, other players focused on the appearance of the library The library's appearance was the focus, with ReduxPL declaring that it "looks amazing indeed".
Blockworks took 250 hours to design the library which was developed by 24 people from 16 countries.
James Delaney, the company's managing director, told the BBC that the company's goal was to create a design that was "on the edge of fantasy".
He said that it was feasible as a construction, but it is exceeding the limits of what is possible.
"We chose a design in the neoclassical style. It's very like the British Museum or New York's public libraries.
Outside of these influences he stated that Minecraft was an improvisational game at its core, so the builders were not limited to pre-defined designs.
He explained that when there are a lot of people working on the same task individuals can observe the work of others and react in real-time. It's a reactive method of working, and that changes the look.

Indeed, being soft on any social media platform was the biggest disgrace and needed to be eliminated post haste. Moreover, it was a slippery slope - once you start flooding your timeline with cute imagery and heart emojis, what will stop you from posting inspirational Facebook quotes? Disgusting. If Rae were here, she would chide you (not you thinking about her as if she’s dead or something). For once in your life, you feel like you deserve it.
Alas, you hope this little chaos you’ve caused is enough to throw everyone off. The stans, especially. You know the hashtags, you’ve seen ARMY scourging for info online with the same fervor and ruthlessness 1 Direction fans hacked airport security cameras just to spy on the boys. If you had any dirty secrets online, they are out to the public now - thankfully, besides the Harry Styles stan account (with edits and all), you have nothing. Though, now that you think about it, exposed nudes would have been better than your Punk!Harry edit receiving almost a million views. God, your life’s a fucking mess.
Your fans aren’t the only ones out for info - you, too, are trying to decipher Rae’s message. Code: Barbecue Sauce. The two of you had come up with it roughly two years ago, around the same time when you promised that if you didn’t find significant others by the time you’re 40, you’ll just marry each other. It was one of the many rules found in your friendship codex. Barbecue Sauce signifies information - an exchange of information. And depending on how it ends or begins (”So I’m sitting there” alludes to Rae, “On my titties” alludes to you), secret data on that person is given away, usually free of charge.
But why? And to whom did Rae give away what? You had pestered her mercilessly and even sent some voice messages where you were crying. You were only crying because of a video of a grandpa smiling you saw on TikTok, but you are a snake, and so you put those tears to good use. If streaming doesn’t work out, you’ll just become an actress. Hollywood would love you. Your PR firm sure as fuck wouldn’t, though.
Rae was having none of it. She said you’ll figure it out eventually. Told you to channel your superior puzzle skills. You were quick to remind her that you can barely count to ten without having an aneurysm. Oddly serious, she admitted that she worries for you sometimes. Why only sometimes?! you demanded. She merely sighed. uttering under her breath something that sounded closely to “Boke.”
You leave her for barely a week and she’s already neck deep in the gay volleyball anime, hoodie and cardboard cutout and everything. Your life is falling apart.
But Brooklyn is nice. It had snowed when you stepped off of the plane. Thousands of snowflakes sprinkling into your hair, dotting your cheeks and nose. You missed this sight back in Cali. You missed your parents, too.
Home cooked meals, old sweaters, your old room and about 40GB worth of old high school pictures on your computer. You went through them all one night. Some were stomach churning, cringe inducing nightmares. You were especially fond of those. Texted some of your friends that were still in Brooklyn, met up, decided to bake. Bad idea, Rae was the resident chef back in Cali. Besides laughing till your stomach hurt, and almost burning down your kitchen, nothing all that significant happened. Somewhere down the line, at about 3 am, half-way through a cheesy rom-com you had the overwhelming urge to text Corpse.
That’s where the problems really started. God, you missed California, missed being in the same timezone with a guy you hadn’t even met yet, how embarrassing is that?! You missed skating around and taking pictures of the beach in the setting sun, sending it to him, silently wishing he was with you to admire the view.
You really want to call him. And to hang out with him. But for some reason, the thought of that springs up immediate anxiety and you shy away from asking. Him sending you cute good morning texts doesn’t help, either. Maybe it’s better he doesn’t know that you’re a blushing, stuttering mess each time you read “baby”.
Late evening. Your stream is already set up, people are slowly trickling in and you greet them with a grin and a soft “Hello! Hi hi!”. You did your best to make your room a perfectly chaotic backdrop - led lights, an embarrassing amount of anime merch and plushies. You always try to balance out your weeb side by dressing hot as fuck for your streams - today’s inspiration just so happens to be egirls. Mostly because you watched one too many egirl make-up tutorials on TikTok, and also because you’ve been listening to Corpse’s song all day.
Yeah, no, who are you kidding, you dressed up this way because you were hoping Corpse was watching your stream. You didn’t forget your cat headphones, either. You know he likes them. You want to make him suffer. Perhaps then, finally, he will ask you out, so you wouldn’t have to.

“I feel like,” You start when you put away your phone, staring idly at the chat, “I feel like I need a new name for you guys. Calling you guys after two years of streaming is just... weird, no? I also don’t respect men so I don’t want to call you guys. Like, so many creator’s have, like, a name for their fans. Uhm, Cody Ko has the chodesters, Kurtis Conner has, uh, folks? Kurtis Town? Citizens! Markiplier has mommy issues--” You can’t help snorting, “So, I’ve been, like, thinking - I know, shocking! - so I was thinking I’m gonna name you cockroaches. Because you’re grimy little shits impossible to kill. And also then I can use the legendary Minaj meme ROACHES!”
Your stream enthusiastically echoes ROACHES, making the chat swim. Yes, if anyone would enjoy such a name, it would be your audience. You’re as equally proud as you are disturbed.
“Well, anyway.” Leaning back into your chair, you throw your arms out with a bright grin, “Big dick is back in town, baby! If you noticed the backdrops different, it’s cuz I’m in Brooklyn now. Don’t ask me when I will return to Always Sunny, I don’t plan that far ahead.”
While Minecraft boots up, you decide to answer a few questions.
r u dating sykkuno?
You want to smack your head into the keyboard, but as it is, you can’t exactly afford a new one, so you refrain, “No, Sykkuno and I are not dating, we are just good friends. Uhm, I’m not sure how much I’ll have to repeat this, but, we really aren’t, so if the roaches could chill - Oh my God, that sounds so stupid, I love it - uh, yeah, if the roaches could chill that’d be great.”
the roaches lmao sounds like we’re a sports team
“Oh shit, yeah it does, uh-- maybe I can make like, jerseys or something. That’d be cool, I think.”
how disappointed are your parents with the way your life turned out?
“My parents are actually not disappointed at all!” You say with a cute little smile, “Uhm, they’re both really proud, actually. They’re glad I found something I love doing and made a job outta it. Dad finds my Youtube videos endearing. Yes, they watch pretty much all of my videos, unless I explicitly tell them not to. And yeah, with all the fucks and thirsting for anime characters. Uhm, it was very embarrassing at first, but I mean, after a while, shame just...doesn’t exist anymore, I guess? Funny thing about my parents, actually, when they watch my videos-” You eye catches a comment, “Oh! No, they only watch my Youtube videos. They don’t know how to use Twitter, thank God. Uhm, anyway-- when they hear a name they don’t know, like, I dunno, Dabi, or something, they google--” You’re grinning by now, eyes crinkling, giggling softly, “--who that is, and buy me like, merch and stuff. It’s really cute.
can i be adopted by ur parents plz
will you and corpse ever collab?!
You were about to answer, though the man of the hour himself decides to do it for you.
Corpse_Husband: yes.
Okay, not to say your heart skipped a beat, but it totally did. With a pleased smile, you nod, like one of those bobble head toys sold at the dollar store. The motion is oddly reminiscent of Sykkuno’s own nod. Perhaps you had picked it up from him. The chat seems to notice.
pack it up, sykkuno
More questions pile about this mysterious collab you and Corpse are planning. Yeah, you’d like to hear more about it, too, since he single highhandedly decided one was happening right now. Corpse remains silent. Fine, keep your secrets.
“Okay, guys, oh, I mean, roaches, Oh my God--” You’re covering your mouth, giggling, “-calling all roaches, calling all roaches, calm down. Everyone grab a snack and a blanket I’m turning up the music volume so we can all chill. Entering chill zone. Entering chill zone. Roaches, prepare.”
we are prepared
✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼ ҉ ✼
An hour or so passes and you grow hungry. It shows with the amount of cakes you had baked in your server. Currently, you find yourself throwing eggs at the wall of one of the renovated houses, your face scrunched in concentration and slight frustration. 24 of the 50 eggs have been wasted. “What’s a girl gotta do to get some chicks around here?” you had uttered under your breath, until, finally, a screech - the egg finally spawns a mob. Your mouth falls open, “Aww, look!” You approach it, so small, walking in zigzags beside you, “It’s a baby chicken! Die, bitch.” The baby chicken is no more as you swing your bedazzled (you have mods) diamond sword. You’re cackling by the time the dust settles.
y/n is a child murderer
“Roaches,” You address your fan-base, spurring another fit of laughter - you can’t get over the name, “I think I’m like, forgetting that eating in Minecraft won’t actually make less hungry in real life.”
take a break and go eat queen <3
“Fuck no, we starve and die like men. Now I actually really need another chicken.”
Another twenty minutes trickle by and you’re trying to lure back a panda from the jungle when there’s a knock on your bedroom’s door. Whipping your head to the side, you slide down your headphones. At the same time, your mom pokes her head through the ajar door, “MOM!” You scream, “Get OUT of my room I’m playing Minecraft!” But your yell has no actual bite to it, as you don’t manage to hide your smile. Your mom laughs, doing some sort of sign language and motioning for you to follow her with her head. That or it’s some sort of performative dance.
“I’m live right now,” You tell her, pointing at your screen. She knows this already, though, “do you want to say hi?”
The roaches spam the chat with friendly hellos. You mom, quite impatient now, waves you over.
“Sorry, roaches, mom needs something. Be back in a bit!”
Stopping the stream, you rush out of your seat and pleased she slinks into the hallway. “What’s this about?”
“Your pizza came.”
“My what now?” You echo, confused.
“Domino’s. You ordered pizza?”
“What? No? I was busy with the stream, I never--”
Thankfully, you had managed to grab your phone from your room before you exited. You almost choke on spit once you read the messages.

You decide that it’ll be impossible to stream after experiencing what you had just experienced. You tweet out a quick apology to the roaches (God, that fucking name) and say that you had a breakdown but you’re okay. That is as a close to the truth as you managed to muster. It’s a sad sight, chewing and crying; your mom winced when she saw your state - disheveled hair and rundown eyeliner and everything. “D’aww,” She had muttered, caressing the top of your head, “don’t cry my little raccoon.”
If anyone was ever to ask you where did your chaotic nature come from, you’d answer with my mom. To make yourself feel better, you took a selfie - duck face and peace sign and the horrible 2000′s angle. Sent it to Rae.
looking hot, her message read.
thanks, was all you replied with.
You couldn’t just leave things as they were. Once you calmed down, you wanted to text Corpse, but how would you follow up the ungodly caps lock and screeching? Impossible. An idea sprung to mind, one that was brave. Taking the first step.
Instead of sending a text, you sent a voice memo.
“Thank you for the pizza, it was delicious.”
You voice still sounded a bit raspy. His reply was instant. Your heart skipped a beat. He sent a voice memo back.
“Glad you liked it, baby.”
He was going to be the death of you.

I feel like there’s a meaningful distinction to be made between a silent protagonist in a game, and a protagonist who doesn’t speak for a reason. These things overlap, but, let me explain using two examples:
The player character in Dragon Quest 11, the Luminary, is a silent protagonist. His voice actor exclusively provides combat grunts and yells and such during cutscenes. However, we are shown that he talks to others and his party members; we can even guess what he is saying from their reactions. These interactions simply happen offscreen, or are censored in effect.
The ultimate effect of this is that we are able to imagine a great deal about the Luminary’s personality. It is left blank for us to fill in how he says what he says (though others’ reactions and the offered choices do keep this on rails). No major characters in the world note the character to be particularly quiet or shy. We are not told that this is part of who he is. Nothing would change if he had fully voiced dialogue of his own except that we wouldn’t be able to imagine what he’s saying.
By contrast, the Prisoner, the player character in Dead Cells, does not have this ambiguity. We as an audience are privy to his thoughts; he is the primary narrator of the game, to the point that the level and weapon flavor text may be him talking. (They certainly seem to reflect what he knows, and do not reveal information he is shown to be unaware of). However, he is unable to hold conversations with NPCs, resorting to gestures, because he is a headless zombie and cannot make noises. Specifically in cutscenes with other characters, he is silent, but this silence is reacted to and commented on. It exists in-universe.
Prisoner is not a Silent Protagonist in the conventional sense; the goal is not that we simply imagine his dialogue, because it would in fact change the plot if he was able to speak to them. Several characters might be able to be negotiated past, or questioned for information, if Prisoner was able to talk to them- others challenge him or wonder what he’s thinking.
For me, the key difference is disability- thought has been given to showcase how this affects the world. Yes, someone could absolutely latch onto the Luminary and say, “well, we are never shown his conversations, so he could be communicating in sign language!” and I am absolutely not gonna say that’s wrong.
There is also an overlap here- see Link in specifically Breath Of The Wild. He is textually suggested to have a form of anxiety-related mutism. And this overlap is a gray area- for me, I find this frustrating because the game makes heavy use of a dialogue tree system and while you can sometimes choose to respond with silence, it is always a choice... and in certain dialogue trees, choosing silence too often removes it from your pool of options. To me, it feels like they attached this element to justify Link being a silent protagonist, rather than making him not a blank slate but a person who has a reason he doesn’t speak much- not that it is a bad element, but that it is not supported in the game as well as it could be.
I don’t mean to say one is Good and the other is Evil. I know I’m personally biased in favor of characters being people more than being simply player user interfaces as the heavy end of silent protagonist can seem, but some games need that- a great example is Minecraft, which has two protagonists, Steve and Alex, exclusively by virtue of that you need a body to walk around the world. None of Steve or Alex’s qualities are really relevant or on display as much as they’re the default faces on mannequins that you will inhabit and move. Alex even only came to exist as an alternative character model option. But this is fine, as Minecraft is in many ways what you make of it; it doesn’t really have a cohesive ‘story’; this only creates conflict the more of a story you’re trying to tell.
Mostly, I think it’s a good distinction to make because the coexistence of these two character types (and, indeed, the gray area overlap, where people will allude or nod to the character’s silence when it’s there for mechanical reasons) can create an attitude that if a character doesn’t have fully voiced dialogue, their personality is up for interpretation... which, in the case of disabled characters who have a fully defined character and simply don’t talk about it, is a bad look.
