Thinking with Portals - A BH6 Character Analysis
You know, I laughed at this when I posted these two together last week, but now I’m been thinking about it a bit too much.
So...a normal day for me.
Everybody knows who the person on the right is. That’s Celine Simard (aka Sirque), the acrobat thief that showed up for one episode, made a splash, and then never came back ever again sans a mention by Hiro in “Go Go the Woweroo”.
The person on the left? Well, that’s a little bit more interesting. I could give you one reason why, but instead...
(Spoiler: I don’t actually have six.)
That would be Rita Wayword, aka Spiral.
Now, I know that you guys are probably thinking, “Jason, you’re on the sauce again, aren’t you? These two don’t have anything in common.”
Which I would say “No...because I have to work tomorrow.”
Spiral is a mutant, once known as Ricochet Rita and a professional stuntwoman (similar to Celine’s background as a circus performer). In a very long, very convoluted backstory that I’m totally not going to go into, she was attacked by her future self, went to the Mojoverse to be with her boyfriend, genetically modified to be Mojo’s bodyguard, and then sent into the past to close the time paradox.
This is why I hate time travel.
Oh yeah, and this is Mojo:
Ain’t nobody got time for that thing, though. Moving on.
Spiral is a sorceress and was once on the shortlist to be the replacement to Dr. Strange as Sorcerer Supreme. The magic that she’s most well known for, however...
Is portals.
Hmmm.
So we have a stuntperson/circus acrobat who can make/steal portals into other dimensions with white hair.
Now, let’s add another wrinkle to that.
Spiral at some point would join up with the Sisterhood of Mutants with a bunch of other people (mainly Jean Grey’s clone Madelyne Pryor) in an attempt to steal a lock of Grey’s hair to resurrect her and have her body be Pryor’s body. Another member of that team?
Lady Deathstrike (on the right).
Hmmmmm.
I would also like to note that both the names Celine and Rita mean “moon” and “pearl” respectively (Celine being an alternate spelling of Selene, Greek for moon and French for “heavenly body” and Rita being a shortening of Margarita, Greek for “pearl”).
Take that into account with Spiral and portals, and...
Hmmmm.
Everything comes back around, doesn’t it?
(Yes, that was a circle joke. You’ll have to forgive me; it was almost one AM when I was typing this.)
Now, I know what you’re also thinking. “Jason, aren’t you forgetting the most obvious part? The whole ‘six arms’ thing?”
No, imaginary person, I didn’t. That’s because I...don’t really have an explanation for that. The only thing I can say is that they can’t really give her six arms in the show, now can they? It’d sort of give it away.
“Also, didn’t you have a six-armed person in your fanfics already? Coat of Arms?”
Yes, I did, and Hiro did learn a lot from fighting her back in The Straight and Arrow. But that’s not the point. She’s got a coat.
Boom. Got ‘em.
But the imagination starts to run wild at some point, and my mind but can’t help but go back to Momakase’s situation with Sycorax and how she was “enhanced” to fight Big Hero 6. If she can go from this:
To this:
Just imagine if Di Amara was able to get her hands on Sirque.
Is it really that hard to believe that there’s another villain in the Big Hero 6 universe that can go from this:
To this?
*taps head* See? Now you’re thinking with portals.

Something's... Off about the Fentons and their son's friends.
They seem to have been the last people to see Vladimir Masters, owner of DalvCo, and know of his whereabouts, yet refuse to reveal him or his location. They also seem to be taking full advantage of his absence, taking over his company and profiting from it and living in his castle in Wisconsin.
They always seem to have some kind of excuse as to why he's not around.
"He's on vacation! Oh, where? Um, Antarctica."
"You just missed him, actually. He was here a few minutes ago. Yeah, in this random dirty alley as I was being mugged. We discussed... Alleys."
"Yeah, he lives here. I know his room is super dusty. He just likes it like that."
Although Tim Drake sees the absence of Vlad Masters as an absolute win (Tucker Foley is much less creepy), he still sees that this requires an investigation. After all, a missing CEO is big news, especially when the last people to have seen him seemed to have had major beef with him. Could they have... Murdered him?
-
Or: Vlad's taken a nice little trip to ghost prison. The Batfam think Vlad's disappearance was a result of the Fenton family murdering him.

Danny may be a Ghost Baby who feels like an Anicent, but his friends don't.
SO, we all know the Ghost Baby Headcanon by now right? The idea that Danny is literally a Toddler by Ghost Standards, but because of how powerful he is everybody else believes that he is an Ancient or a God who is hogging the Mortal World to himself.
But what about his friends?
They were right there when the Portal opened. No Hazmat Suits, no Cover, no Protection from the Dimension of Pure Energy that had just been opened right in front of them.
That has to have some kind of Side Effects!
And actually, we do know of a Character who was just standing in front of a Portal when it opened and still got affected by it. Vlad.
While Danny was turned into a Halfa instantly, his friends would be more similar to Vlad in that they are slow to transform.
It takes weeks, but eventually they become mini-halfas themselves. Except they didn't have an entire Dimension of energy pushed into them upon fully forming, so their Ecto-Signatures actually feel like the babies they are supposed to be.
So imagine this from the Ghosts perspective.
They meet this guy called Phantom, a Halfa who is Extremely Powerful, but nobody has seen him in centuries. He was known as a very powerful Protector Spirit for millennia, randomly showing up across history, but always helping others. And then he just vanished one day, not seen again for centuries.
Until recently, when he showed in the Mortal World, stopping any other Ghost from fulfilling their Obsessions with Humans. And by his side are 2 smaller Halfa's that feel like they must have barely formed. You can see where this is going.
They think Sam and Tucker are Danny's children.
It makes sense! A Powerful Ancient, known for protecting people, suddenly disappears for centuries and then shows up again with 2 baby Halfa's in tow? That sounds like a Protector Spirit who lost his will to fight, decided to settled down in the Mortal Realm, and then found out that 2 baby Halfa's were formed when a Portal was opened!
He isn't selfishly holding the Mortal Realm to himself! He's protecting the Fledgling Haunt of his 2 Babies! They must still have living Family, that's why he is so adamant that they don't hurt the Civilains in their battles!
Now they just feel like assholes for attacking the Baby's dad when he was just trying to protect their stuff.
Danny finds this both extremely infuriating, and also agonizingly hilarious.
