#this scene had absolutely NO BUSINESS hitting as hard as it did

This scene was mainly comedic, but it did something for me because it reminded me, and fully enforced that Porjai is living with Mhok. This was surprising to me, because a man and a woman living together while being unwed in an asian country? Practically unheard of. I was initially planning on putting this in my post about the subversion of faen fatales in the show, but I felt like this was deserved it's own moment. Because god damn, this hit me hard. I'm not quite sure how to describe why this is such a 'revelation' thing for me, but it is. Mhok and Porjai are living together, and forget being married, they're not even dating. This is the biggest fuck you to the notion asian societies have of 'boys and girls can't be close without something romantic being their' and the taboo associated with male-female friendships, and I am HERE for it.
This show has had some wonderful commentary on the toxic bits of asian societies so far, and this was the most glaringly obvious one yet. I really hope that they're gonna take this and run with it further along in the show.

The Corroded Coffin used to think they'd be the new Metallica or Judas Priest. But where their passion and hard work never lacked, their big break just never came.
What did come, however, was an unexpected change of their career path.
It started innocently enough - they went through yet another failed meeting with recording studios, they'd travelled pretty far and it was for nothing. Instead of going back to Hawkins and risking another one or Eddie's road rages, they decided to break into an abandoned house and drink their sorrows away.
That is, until their empty bottles started collecting themselves, something invisible touched Gareth's shoulder and the dusty floor started showing written messages.
Jeff wanted to flee. Gareth to faint. But Eddie and Freak just shrugged. Eddie gestured towards the approximate ghost location and said "by the power of I don't give a shit anymore, I compel you to sit down and stop it, we'll clean the bottles when we leave tomorrow."
The rattling stopped. There was a moment of silence when the Corroded Coffin actually thought it had worked, but then the ghost overcame its shock and physically threw Eddie, his bandmates and their things out.
They sat on the wet grass for a while and contemplated their whole exitence. Eddie was pretty shaken about the whole thing because he'd just managed to royally piss off a ghost and lived to tell the tale. But apart from absolutely terrifying...it was also fun?
And his friends seemed to think the same. Jeff patted his shoulder and said: "not bad for a first touch with the unknown, huh?"
They stayed in the area and tried again. They decided to tape over their promotional video - not so great, they had to admit after rewatching it - and started documenting their ghostly encounters. And maybe it was just the timing, maybe it was their interactions and personalities, but it worked. They showed some of their tapes to a local TV station and they got a cautious yes, more than they ever had with their music.
They got assigned a small crew, Fred with a camera and Chrissy for sound, wrote their own episodes and did plenty of research. And they got to try quite a lot of different approaches with their ghostly friends. Eddie was amazing at taunting the ghosts, making them appear if there were any present. Gareth had a wonderfully calming presence, managing to save the CC's ass several times. Jeff was the brains, he made sure they'd always know the history of the house and the probable identity of the ghost. And Freak decided to dabble in the occult sciences with a terrifying precision. There could never be enough salt in Eddie's van for all the circles he made.
It all went well until they learned of the Creel House in Hawkins. They went there, did their research and before entering the house, they ordered some pizza for dinner. They assumed it would be over by midnight, thinking it was just another sad story of an unresolved murder, but the ghost of Henry Creel was out for blood.
Oh, and he also controlled the spiders of the house. That was new.
To set the scene: The crew had fled the house about an hour ago. Eddie was crouching behind an old table, blocking Henry's barrage of kitchen knives, shouting "IS THIS THE BEST YOU'VE GOT?!". Gareth was behind the table with Eddie, but he went more into the wailing territory with "I DON'T THINK THIS WILL HELP YOU MOVE ON, HENRY!". Jeff had blocked himself in the pantry and kept trying to identify the triggering moment - "I think he's re-enacting the murder of his mother, guys! Does that help?!" (it doesn't). And Freak gave up on salt circles and was now tossing handfuls at salt around the house with a questionable technique but unwavering determination.
Suddenly, a car horn.
Then, a bitchy male voice: "Are you coming to get your pizza or what? I have other customers to get to!"
Eddie gritted his teeth as Henry added heavy pans to the mix and hit his shoulder. "We're a little busy surviving here! Ask Chrissy to pay you!"
There was a muffled and annoyed "ugh" from behind the door and then: "Is it Henry again?"
Eddie just blinked. Gareth was more ready to answer: "Sure is! He's not a fan of our exorcism!"
And the pizza guy didn't leave. He just huffed and said something that sounded suspiciously like "amateurs".
Eddie wanted to punch him.
But before he could do that, the front door opened. Gareth held his breath, half expecting a sound of knives hitting their target.
Instead, they heard a few more steps and then: "What the fuck, Henry?!"
A faint whispering reached their ears, but they couldn't decipher it. But the pizza guy could.
"I don't care they didn't get your permission, Henry. Yeah, it's annoying, but what are you going to do? If more people die in this house, it's going to get demolished. You know that. Yeah, I know the house is old, but it's great for your spiders, right? They'd be homeless. Do you want to make your spiders homeless, Henry?"
They dared to peek from behind the table, and Eddie had to pinch himself. Because in the middle of the dusty dining room stood one of the prettiest young men Eddie had ever seen, hands on hips and arguing with something invisible.
The man completely ignored them.
"That's what I thought. Now, apologize. No, they can't hear you, so get creative."
All four CC members stared as words formed in the spilled salt: "SORRY".
The pizza guy seemed to be pleased. "Good job, Henry. Now, let me get them out of here and I promise I'll get the Party to bring you some new spiders when they capture them outside, yeah? Three knocks, slide them in a glass behind the door. Got it. Take care, Henry."
Only then did he look at Eddie and the others and frowned. "That's your cue to leave. Get your stuff and go, now." And as they were quickly collecting their scattered notes and recording equipment, he added: "and say goodbye when leaving. Don't be rude."
Four rushed "Bye, Henry!" and "Sorry, Henry"s later, the Corroded Coffin was standing on the grass outside, feeling the setting sun on their skin and smelling fresh pizza. Gareth promptly paid for the delivery, and everyone proceeded to thank their mysterious savior.
"I'm Steve," he said after they'd all expressed their thanks, "and you're stupid. Do you really do this without anyone who sees and hears them? Do you just stumble blindly into haunted houses for a fun and stabby time?"
Eddie had to swallow down a very bitchy response of his own. "Sorry to stroke your ego even more, pretty boy, but a man of your talents is hard to come by."
And Steve, to Eddie's massive shock, just cocked his head and fluffed his hair, probably out of habit, but damn. "Well, consider yourself lucky because I'm open to job offers," he said with a wink that brought Eddie back into his teenage fantasies. "You need someone like me, and I assume you pay better than pizza delivery. Do you?"
Turns out, their producer was willing to get one more person on board, especially when they finished processing the leftover footage from the Creel house.
Steve was an amazing addition. He was snarky, self-confident, easy to look at and most of all, he was fun and compassionate. Watching him communicate with ghosts of kids and help them move on made Eddie's icy heart melt.
But one day they were on a site of an unfortunate teenage death, Steve was chatting with the ghost of a 17 year old girl like they'd known each other for ages, he was laughing, cracking jokes, and then:
"No, he hasn't kissed me yet."
Eddie turned around on his heel and stared at Steve, snickering to himself and talking to a misty figure next to him. And worst of all, they were both staring right at Eddie.
"Hasn't even asked me out, no. You'd think he'd be interested, but I guess I'm doing something wrong."
And Eddie's head short-circuited, and all the repressed fantasies from nights next to Steve in their trailer came back with vengeance. He howled and threw himself at Steve, kissing him right on that bitchy mouth. "Doing something wrong?! Steven Harrington, those shorts of yours are doing everything right, but how about you say something, huh?!"
Steve returned the kiss to the cheering of the CC guys, Chrissy's clapping and Fred's disgusted noise, and shrugged when they broke apart. "I knew you'd get it, eventually. Oh, and Heather?" he turned to the ghost. "You're the best wingwoman ever, in this life and after."
Four good things came from this ghostly encounter:
After the kiss, Gareth finally gathered enough courage to ask Chrissy out. She said yes.
The episode with Heather became the most watched episode of the CC's show.
Steve and Eddie remained in an equally blissful and teasing relationship for the rest of their lives.
And finally...
The TV station decided to design official merch for the CC's show: incredibly short shorts that said on the backside: "DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT".

Bedside Manner
Reader goes into labor while Simon's away and calls the first person she can think of. The task force (and some other friends in high places) rally around the couple on the most important day of their lives.
Word Count: 2,587
Characters (in order of appearance): fem!Reader (no use of y/n), Capt. John Price, Kyle "Gaz" Garrick, Simon "Ghost" Riley, Johnny "Soap" MacTavish, Kate Laswell
CW: childbirth, hospital setting, medical procedures
A/N: Am I a Ghost girlie? Absolutely. Am I also a sucker for the found family trope? Til I die. This idea wouldn't leave me alone and I'm so glad I stuck with it. I love the way this came out and hope you like it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Dear? Everything okay?"
The captain's voice on the other end of the line sounded worried. Both he and Simon had drilled it into you to never hesitate to call Price if you needed anything while your husband was away, but you couldn't help feeling a bit guilty.
"Um, I think so," you began, willing your voice to stay level and upbeat. "I think I just - oof.." Another contraction hit, stealing the air from your lungs. They were coming more consistently now, and hard enough to stop you in your tracks.
This could not be happening.
"What's wrong? Are you alright? Are you hurt?" You could hear movement in the background, him gathering his things to be out the door and on his way to you.
"I'm fine, John. I just didn't know who else to call. I think the baby might be coming?" The words came out pinched as you worked through the tail end of the contraction. The captain swore loudly.
"Stay put, love. I'm on the way - everything will be alright. Want me to stay on the phone with you?"
"No, no, that's fine. Stay safe and I'll see you when you get here." You hung up before he could argue and fuss like a mother hen.
______________________________________________________________
The knock at the door startled you. You looked at the clock - surely that couldn't be John already. The man lived across town. Not trusting yourself to make it to the door, you called out.
"It's open!"
Turns out it wasn't Price, but Gaz, who stepped into your living room and began taking in the scene. It was a sight to be sure: you, doubled over sitting on your yoga ball, rocking back and forth to try to alleviate some of the pressure in your hips, towel around your neck because you were sweating like a pig, ambient white noise filtering through the bluetooth speaker to keep you calm. For all his usual swagger and poise, Gaz looked a bit frightened.
"Kyle, did John call you? I'm so sorry - I'm sure you were busy-"
"Not at all, I rushed over as soon as I got word." The sergeant came to your side and knelt until he was eye level. "The captain's on his way but I was closer. We didn't want you to be alone any longer than necessary."
"You and your task force are worse than a quilting circle." The jab came with a joking smile, but the smile was cut short by the stab of another contraction. At the sight of your face screwing up in pain, Kyle's eyes got big.
"Can I do something? Do you need anything?" He wrung his hands as he fussed, seemingly unsure whether to touch you or whether you'd bite him if he tried. Admittedly, you weren't too sure yourself.
"Need you to reset - the timer." The words came out through clenched teeth as your muscles tensed and screamed. "Contractions - need to time them."
"The timer - right." He sprung into action, undoubtedly happy to have a defined task to accomplish. As he was fiddling with the device, Price stormed through the door, his demeanor all-business.
"Gaz? What's the situation?" The sergeant hopped to attention as if he was at roll call.
"Got here not long ago myself, Cap. Just reset the timer for contractions."
"Where are we at?"
"Thirteen minutes, sir."
The captain turned to you, assessing you from top to bottom. His expression and his voice softened considerably as he spoke.
"Ready to get to the hospital, love?"
"Can't - they told me to wait until they're five minutes apart." The man looked bewildered.
"And just let you sit here and suffer? Not on my watch. Gaz, grab my keys - "
"John," you interrupted. "I already called. They won't admit me yet. We just need to wait it out."
"Nonsense, love. You wait til I get someone's ear over there. Five minutes my arse." He moved to help you stand, but stopped in his tracks as he took in your face, your lip trembling. "Is there something else?" As if on cue, a fat tear rolled down your cheek, the first of its kind since the pains began.
"This isn't supposed to be happening," you squeaked out. "Not for a few more weeks. Simon's supposed to be here."
The men shared a glance, looking stricken. Price leaned down next to you, a broad hand gently squeezing your shoulder. His voice was soft when he spoke, a renewed slowness replacing his prior rushed pace.
"I know, love. I know it's not ideal, and I know you're scared. I know Simon would give anything to be here, that he'd split heaven and earth to be with you right now. But I also know he'd want you and your little one taken care of, yeah? He wouldn't want you to wait."
You nodded, despite more tears threatening. "Doesn't change the fact they won't admit me yet."
The captain's mouth quirked defiantly. "You let me worry about that. Gaz, help her up. I'll drive."
______________________________________________________________
Simon was tired down to his bones, feeling like a wrung out rag after the most recent mission. Despite that, the man was a ball of energy as he hopped off the plane, desperate to get back to you.
"Someone's antsy," Soap drawled, taking a more leisurely pace. He slid his sunglasses on as Simon switched on his cell phone anxiously. "Got somewhere to be, LT?"
"'Matter of fact I do - home." Simon impatiently hiked his duffel bag higher on his shoulder. "See my wife, eat a real meal. Finally build that godforsaken changing table. Who knew a baby needs so much furniture?"
Soap barked a laugh, but Simon tuned him out as he put his phone to his ear. He'd gotten a voicemail from you, and everything else ceased to matter.
"Hey babe, it's me. I'm not sure when you'll get this, and I hate to worry you. I'm sure it's fine. It's just... I've been feeling some contractions-"
Simon didn't hear the rest, nearly dropping his phone as he broke into a run.
______________________________________________________________
True to his word, Price argued with the hospital staff until you were taken up to a room. You were sure he must have pulled rank, threatened to call people, but he refused to let you worry about it.
The ride had been smooth, despite John driving like a bat out of hell. Gaz stayed in the back seat with you, clinging to your hand and fussing. Later, you'd think it was funny how he seemed to need more encouragement and support than he offered, but at that moment very little was funny.
You had been able to stay in denial for an admirably long time. The past few days, you were able to tell yourself it was just Braxton-Hicks contractions, not the real thing. That even when it became evident the real thing was starting, that it wouldn't progress quickly. That even though it was progressing, that Simon would walk in the door just at the right moment and sweep you into the car and off to the hospital and all would be well. Even when your gut told you to pick up the phone and call the captain, you had managed to make yourself believe that you were wrong, that it was a false alarm, that you still had more time.
Now, here you were, connected to monitors and being poked and prodded by nurses. Medical history, allergies, birth plan, you felt like you were in interrogation rather than a patient receiving care. And if it wasn't the nurses it was the two men standing off to the side, one wringing his hands in worry and one watching the nurses like a hawk and barking questions. The contractions were closer to eight minutes apart now, progressing quickly. Now the situation was very real, and as thankful as you were from the support from Price and Gaz, your heart threatened to shatter at the absence of the one person who mattered most.
______________________________________________________________
"Bloody fuckin' hell, no one will answer their phone!" Ghost barked, ready to throw his out the window. He'd had radio silence other than a second voicemail, this one from the Captain:
"Simon, Price here. Just got word from the missus that the baby's on the way. I'm headed there now. I don't want you to worry about a thing, I won't leave her side. I'll update you as I'm able."
"She knew to call the captain; he's probably with her now," Soap offered from the driver's seat. He'd practically had to arm wrestle Simon for the keys, but ended up convincing him that he'd be able to call for updates if he wasn't worried about driving. Silently, he thanked the saints Simon had agreed; who knows what carnage he'd unleash on the roads as worked up as he was.
"He better be, or I'll - not now, Laswell!" Simon rejected the third call from the station chief since landing and tried Price again. He was sure he'd hear about it for skipping debrief and jumping in the car, but right now he couldn't bring himself to give a shit. When Price's phone again went to voicemail, he was about to go nuclear when the car's Bluetooth lit up with Laswell's number.
"Shite; let me answer it LT." Soap pushed the button. "Laswell, it's Soap. Here with Ghost."
"I know," she said impatiently, her voice filling the space. "I've been trying to call all afternoon. I know what's happening and I'm here to help."
"What? How do you know?"
"Price called me as soon as he got word, asked me to find you. Anyway, you're wasting time heading in that direction; there's a lane closure ahead and you're about to be neck deep in traffic. I've mapped an alternate route for you. Take the next left."
The two men looked at each other in confusion before both starting to speak at the same time.
"Left? That takes us the wrong way-" "How do you know where we're at?"
"Boys! Boys, listen," she continued, exasperated. "Don't worry about how I know, just do as I say. We're gonna get you there as fast as possible. Now turn left!"
Soap cut the car to the left, ignoring the indignant honks of other drivers as he began to cut through the city under Laswell's watchful eye.
______________________________________________________________
"The doctor says you'll be ready to start pushing soon. How are you feeling?" The nurse was genuinely trying to be nice, so you bit back on your retort of how the fuck does it look like I'm feeling? My insides are exploding! and instead chose a weak smile and a head nod.
Once the nurse whisked away, Price was back at your side. You could tell by his expression he wanted to give you a pep talk like you were one of his soldiers about to head into battle, but he was searching for the right thing to say. You broke the silence first.
"I'm scared." Your voice sounded small, the words escaping almost of their own volition. The captain took your hand, blessedly avoiding sugarcoating the situation.
"I know. But you're doing great - a real trooper. Even with the needle in the back! Simon's gonna be so proud of you, love. And Gaz and I are gonna be right here. Right Gaz?"
"Right, Cap." The sergeant slid back into the room, cup of ice in hand. While the captain had taken point and begun advocating for you with the hospital staff and asking a million questions, Gaz had been dutifully making sure you were comfortable. Anything from getting you an extra pillow for your back, to helping you tie your hair back, to getting you ice chips since you couldn't have food or drink during labor, he was on it. If either man was uneasy about what was about to happen, they dutifully kept it under wraps and maintained their game faces.
One by one, the care team took up positions around you to get started. Price and Gaz got next to you, each taking one of your hands, ready to offer what support they could. You shamed yourself, one last time, for being ungrateful for their presence. A lot of people give birth with less, you tried to tell yourself. He’d be here if he could.
The doctor walked in, donning gloves and getting a quick status update from one of the nurses before meeting your eyes. “Evening, ma’am. We’re going to-”
Her words were cut off by a commotion in the hall, a door slamming and what sounded like some raised voices. Everyone in the room exchanged confused glances, and Price motioned for Gaz to go investigate. He poked his head out into the hall for only a moment before returning with a big grin.
“You’re not gonna believe who’s here."
Then your husband was in the doorway, and then he was at your side, and suddenly those honey brown eyes drowned out every ounce of pain and fear you’d been holding onto, and that warm, calloused hand took yours, and you were ready.
______________________________________________________________
You would have thought it would be difficult to fall asleep under fluorescent lights, with monitors beeping and staff bustling around. But you had never known tiredness like this, and wanted to take the nurse’s advice and rest while the pain meds were still working their magic. The delivery had been uneventful once the show was on the road, and Simon never left your side, his steady presence grounding and his voice in your ear keeping you calm. Then there she was, a baby girl, the most precious tiny thing you’d ever laid eyes on. You’d stared at her and cried for hours, stroking her tiny hand and welcoming her to the world until you could barely keep your eyes open. And so, with a squeeze of your hand and a kiss on your forehead from Simon, you found yourself drifting off. You were aware, as you floated off, of his slow pacing back and forth with your newborn daughter in his arms, of his whispers to her that were too low for you to hear. Of the guys popping in, as unobtrusively as possible lest the lieutenant tear them limb from limb for disturbing you and the baby, bringing him food and coffee and admiring the bundle of joy.
“Doesn’t look a thing like you, Simon,” said Soap.
“Thank God for that,” he replied.
“You should have seen it, Simon really - needle this long, right in the spine!” Price remarked, not for the first time. “She didn’t even flinch.”
“I’m just glad you made it for the gross stuff,” mumbled Gaz.
“Kyle, you’re in the military. You’ve seen arms and legs blown off.”
“Completely different, Johnny. Not the same at all.”
On and on they bantered, brothers in arms stepping into their role as uncles for your baby girl with delight. One of the last things you heard was Simon, his voice thick with emotion.
“Thank you, all of you, for being here. For today.”
“Oh come off it Simon,” replied the Captain. “These girls mean something to you, so they mean something to us. That’s what a family is. Now quit hogging her and let Uncle John have a turn.”
You wouldn’t remember this conversation when you woke up, wouldn’t be able to articulate where it came from, but you’d carry with you the bone-deep feeling of connection with this little makeshift family forever.

…IN WHICH; i have loser!luke x reader thoughts
tags/warnings: fem!reader, tooth rotting fluff, reader says something slightly suggestive twice at the end, small creepy comments mention, teasing!reader, whipped!luke, hints at aphrodite!reader, hints at reader being popular, separate blurbs/headcanons, LONG‼️
ೃauthor notes⁀➷: do not expect this to be coherent lmfao i just woke up from a 4 hour nap and had ideas. also shout out to artemis for telling me to write this ily oomf
—loser!Luke absolutely looks over to you before answering a question for your reassurance.
“can you help me, luke?” a younger hepaestus kid asked. you and luke finally had alone time—away from your friends and away from his siblings. a huff left your lips as you crossed your arms, a sassy expression sure, but that comes naturally to you.
luke opened his mouth, ready to agree. it was his calling, to keep up the golden child reputation he had at camp. but for some reason, he hesitated. luke’s eyes shifted toward yours, back to the kid, then back to you. like he was asking you if he could go—like all his free will was thrown out the window.
as much as you’d like to preach that you didn’t like it—that you’d much rather luke be his own person—you couldn’t. a snicker left your throat as you nodded. luke’s eyes shinned with appreciation, a small smile on his face as he turned his attention to the kid.
“yeah, sure. c’mon.” luke mumbled before kissing you on the cheek, following the kid as the 12 year old frantically explained the situation.
—loser!Luke who gets weak in the knees whenever you noticed him. even if you two just made eye contact.
“it’s getting to be painful to watch you looking at her, dude.” chris said from beside luke. they both watched as your sisters braided your hair. one put a flower in your hair, making luke’s heart race a little faster. the flower on your ear made you look even prettier. it’s no surprise every other guy at camp is fawning over you.
“will you shut up?” luke asked, his face scrunched up as he diverted his attention away from you for only a split second to look over to his friend. “it’s not that bad.”
all luke got in response was silence. he shifted his weight left to right, rolling his shoulders with his arms crossed. he waited very impatiently for chris to answer.
“did you come to your senses yet? is the realization hitting now?” his friend asked, eyebrows raised. he spoke with a chuckle and a mischievous look in his eyes. luke clenched his jaw as he blinked, looking away from him.
“look, she isn’t busy. she probably thinks you’re a creepy stalker.” chris added, rubbing salt onto the wound. maybe now realization would hit luke. and it did. hard.
he could be ruining his chances with you because he’s too much of a loser to muster up the courage to even say hi! goddamnit—what kind of demi-god is he?
chris nudged the curly haired boy before quickly pointing in your direction. luke followed his finger before your eyes locked with his.
he felt his knees slightly buckle, being the first out of the two of you to break eye contact. ‘shit,’ was the only think echoing in his mind. ‘way to go, luke. go on you for looking like the biggest loser in front of y/n. awesome.’ he thought, rubbing the back of his neck as he quickly fled the scene.
“he’s cute.” “who? luke? y’know—he’s like, totally in love with you, y/n.” “i know.”
—loser!Luke who takes the title of ‘y/n’s boyfriend.’ like seriously….he takes real pride in it.
“you’re y/n’s boyfriend, right?” damn fuckin’ right he is. forget luke castellan—that’s boring. y/n’s boyfriend has a much better ring to it. he’s yours before he’s human.
he felt a weird sense of pride wash over him whenever another camper asked him that. it doesn’t matter if he’s asked it once, twice, or even a thousand times. luke’ll always get a grin on his face as he nods.
getting a question like that just meant he gets to brag about how he’s dating the prettiest girl at camp—the prettiest girl to ever walk this planet.
“yeah. y’know it’s actually our anniversary soon and i was wondering-“ and there he goes, on another tangent about his plans to surprise you. because he only wants the best for you. blah, blah, blah. luke’s just so whipped it makes everyone sick.
percy literally fake gags anytime luke finishes a rant about how pretty you looked last night at the campfire and how gorgeous your eyes were then.
—loser!Luke who took one week and three days to finally talk to you.
he felt his sibling shove him in your direction when his back was turned, causing him to stumble toward you. luke’s head snapped back toward them, watching them laugh with a few other hermes kids.
“you alright?” your voice sounded sweet like honey to him. it wasn’t rough, it was possibly the smoothest, nicest voice he’d ever heard. and luke has spoken to a lot of people.
he tripped over his feet as he tried to straighten his back, rolling his shoulders before crossing his arms. luke cleared his throat, nodding. “yeah. ‘m alright.”
a giggle left your throat at his reaction. out of all the guys that you’ve flirted with—luke stuck out for some reason. maybe it was because he was genuinely flustered at the sight of you. that’s different than the usual corny pickup lines or the way-too-intimate complimenting.
“luke, right? it’s nice to finally put a face on a name.” you said, a chuckle in your voice as you smiled. your smile was so much brighter up close. luke was about to answer, until his words finally processed in his head.
you knew his name. you know who he was before this. did you hear good things about him? bad things? did you hear that he was the best swordsman here? did that impress you?
“uh, yeah. it’s nice to meet you too.” he managed to get out, his voice coming out a little quieter than he’d like.
“i love your hair, by the way.” you complimented him like it was nothing—like he wasn’t about to make it his whole personality. did you even know the hold you have on him?
“oh, thank you.” “you’re welcome.”
luke was ready to say something about your eyes, until your sibling cut him off.
“i have got to steal y/n. i am so sorry, luke!” “oh. that’s alright.”
it wasn’t alright, though. he wanted to keep talking to you—having your full attention on him was better than anything. luke just sighed before speaking to you once more, hoping to leave an impression.
“i’ll see you later, hopefully.”
“yeah, definitely.”
definitely. luke cannot wait for the time definitely comes around.
—loser!Luke who does anything and everything you ask of him.
“can you help me take off my shoes? my feet hurt!”
you whined, throwing yourself onto a log. luke furrowed his brows, more confused above all else. he snickered quietly as he seen you pout, sitting with a leg extended out toward him.
“can’t you do that yourself?” “can’t you do it f’me?”
luke shrugged, sarcastically rolling his eyes at your words. he kneeled down in front of you, beginning to untie the converse you had on.
“you look pretty like this, luke.”
he paused for a moment, his hands still gripping your shoe lace. luke’s lips tightened, his eyebrows twitching. he really didn’t know what to feel other than embarrassment.
“thank you.” he muttered before frantically trying to finish untying the shoe. luke quickly slipped it off, hearing you giggle at his expense.
“why’re you actin’ so shy? can i not compliment my boyfriend?” you teased further as he, once again, frantically tried to untie the other.
“stop it. ‘m tryna help you and this is how you reward me?” “i’ll reward you in a different way if you hurry.”
and goddamnit—hurry he did. even when you asked for him to carry you, he still did. luke is just some guy who’s madly in love with his girlfriend. even when he’s holding her shoes and carrying her bridal style to his cabin.

The night unveiled the mesmerizing beauty of the city as Karina and I zoomed through its streets. The motorcycle's roar echoed, seemingly announcing our presence to the entire city. Yet, in our youthful spirit, we disregarded it. Karina had injected adventure and excitement into my life, making every moment extraordinary. She's what makes my days and nights awesome, always bringing joy. I gotta thank Aeri for introducing me to Karina, even if we didn't hit it off right away.
•·················•·················•
“Wanna come along?” That’s all she said. Life always seems to dangle something new in front of me. Aeri pitched this idea, and I had no clue what was in store. Mysterious. But I trusted her completely; she’d been hustling and making some cash. It was our little secret. A game where the risk just added spice to the thrill. Kind of sketchy but exhilarating, you get me?
“You sure this is the right way?” I asked cautiously. We were heading down these shady, dimly lit stairs where the lights flickered oh-so-slowly."
"Yeah, I know the way. Been here a few times, no sweat!" she assured me, continuing down the steps.
As we got closer to the door, the music’s volume surged. Stepping inside, the booming bass hit us hard. The place was a riot of colorful lights, but there was this pervasive mix of gasoline and weed smell that wasn't too pleasant.
"Is this your usual weekend scene?" I quizzed Aeri.
"No doubt, I do. I'm here to help Karina gear up for her races," she said.
"Are you finally gonna introduce me to this Karina you're always on about?" I inquired.
"Absolutely! I'll take you to her now. Or would you prefer to check out the place first?" she asked.
"Let's take a look around first," I replied.
Aeri gave me the grand tour of this spot. I soaked it all in, kinda interested in this whole new vibe where everything's a bit of a gamble. It's all about the danger and excitement, you know? I find it pretty intriguing. This place, right before the race starts, it's got a vibe. But I did however, noticed how everyone's eyes are on us.
"Hey, what's with all the staring? Starting to weird me out a bit," I mentioned to Aeri, feeling a tad uncomfortable.
"They all know I'm friends with Karina. She's, well, let's just say she's a big deal around here. They call her the 'Queen' of racing," Aeri explained, and it all clicked for me.
"Can we bail, though? Feeling a bit too conspicuous," I suggested.
"Sure thing! Let's get you introduced to Karina; you two will hit it off, I'm sure!" Aeri exclaimed, ready to make the intro.
Aeri dragged me to this garage, all bright and half-open. She went and knocked on it like a maniac. ‘Karina! I'm here! Did you miss me?!’ Aeri shouted at the top of her lungs.
“Aeri! Keep it down! Get in here already,” the girl I figured was Karina snapped.
Aeri nudged me to step in first. I crouched a bit and walked into the garage. The garage was alive with various colored lights, yet one glaring light outshone the rest. Posters and tools adorned the walls, while a car occupied one side and a motorcycle sat on the other. The girl I presumed to be Karina was busy fixing something on the bike.
“Karina! Meet my bestie Y/n! Y/n, meet Karina!” Aeri introduced us, gesturing between us."
"Hey, Karina, nice to meet you. Aeri's told me loads about you, and don't worry, I won't spill anything that might get you thrown in jail," I said, immediately regretting my choice of words.
"Hi," was all she replied before returning to her work on the bike, leaving me feeling a bit like a fool.
Naturally, I felt offended. I wanted to confront her, but I held back. I hardly knew her and picking a fight with Aeri's friend wasn't the right move. It'd make me a lousy friend.
"Don't stress, Y/n. Karina's just... like that. She's very... monotone, but she's cool. Give her some time to warm up to you. Honestly, I didn't spill that I spilled everything about her illegal racing," Aeri explained with an awkward grin on her face.
“ It's fine it didn't bother me," I lied, though it bothered me more than I let on.
"So, Karina, when's your next race?" Aeri asked.
"In about 30 minutes. You heading out or sticking around here in the garage?" Karina inquired.
"Since this is Y/n's first illegal race, I'll probably stick around, cheering you on alongside her," Aeri nudged me while saying that.
"Alright, let's head out. I'm all set," she said, wrapping up the final touches on her bike.
We all made our way out of the garage, heading toward the main event. Karina revved her bike, riding off towards the street where the race would take place. The way people glanced at us left me feeling intimidated. Despite my smile, fear crept in. This was uncharted territory for me.
"Hey, Karina! What's up! Ready to race?! There's a hefty pot riding on you, lots of folks betting," a guy shouted as he approached us.
"Absolutely, BamBam. I'm always geared up to win some cash," Karina replied with a grin.
I never thought this girl smiled, but here she was, flashing a smile in front of me. It was kinda cute.
"Awesome! Just remember to stay safe, can't afford to lose our top racer, aka our 'Queen'," The guy I now know as BamBam added.
"Who's that guy? Her boyfriend?" I asked Aeri in a hushed tone.
Aeri stifled a laugh. "Nah, not her boyfriend. That's her childhood friend. They grew up together, got into street racing, and he's sort of her manager. He always bets on her because he knows she'll win. Also, Karina's gay and has a dick," Aeri explained frankly.
The last sentence caught me off guard and I took a double take at Aeri.
“She has a dick??,” I blurted out in surprise.
"Yeah, she was born with it. Why, wanna hop on it?" Aeri quipped, giving me a smirk.
I was flabbergasted! “What? No way!" I exclaimed.
"Sure, just saying, you're not the only one. Lots of other girls here do too," she casually replied.
"Alright, alright, let's stop talking about her dick," I said, eager to change the subject.
"Stop talking about my what?" Karina chimed in, joining our conversation.
I was horrified. If she overheard our discussion, I'd be mortified.
"Your bike," Aeri quickly interjected, coming to my rescue. "Y/n here was just saying how much she liked it but wanted to stop gushing over your bike."
"Thanks," Karina replied, giving me a stare that made me cough in awkwardness. Why did I suddenly feel so awkward? I needed a shot, maybe ten.
"Anyway, I came to tell you guys that the race is starting soon, so get to your spots. And remember, don't accept drinks from strangers. Have the bartender made you the drink, alright?" Karina instructed us.
Can we grab a drink, Aeri? I seriously need one after that almost-embarrassment," I admitted, fanning myself to emphasize the point.
"Sure thing," Aeri replied, leading me towards the bar.
Once we had our drinks, we headed towards the restricted area where only people acquainted with Karina were allowed. There was a large TV screen displaying Karina, geared up with her helmet on, ready for the race. Her eyes reflected unwavering determination, making me equally certain she'd emerge victorious.
The audio from the scene was clear, capturing a guy beside Karina yelling that she was going to lose. Karina, unfazed, remained focused, displaying even greater determination. A girl emerged onto the street, holding a red flag. Raising her arm, she brought it down swiftly, marking the start of the race.
The race unfolded rapidly. Kai, the guy I just learned the name of, initially took the lead, but as they reached a sharp turn, Karina surged past him. Watching her on the screen, it was evident—she had a natural talent for this. Her movements on the bike were graceful, navigating every turn effortlessly. I finally understood why people bet on her. Yet, watching her gave me a mix of sensations, tingling feelings that I couldn't quite decipher—was it anxiety or something else?
As they approached the finish line, it was a dead heat. Anxiety crept up on me, evident in my shaking leg. I desperately hoped for Karina's victory. Beside me, Aeri seemed absolutely chilled, not a speck of doubt in her eyes. I couldn't help but wonder why she was so composed. "She knows something," I muttered to myself, suspecting that Aeri had an inside track on this.
Right after that thought, Aeri did the exact thing I suspected she knew about. With a simple press of a button, Karina's speed surged, propelling her faster than before, and she breezed across the finish line.
When Karina hit that button, everyone was stunned by the speed she picked up. But as soon as she crossed that finish line, the crowd erupted in cheers. Aeri and I jumped to our feet, cheering, hugging, and bouncing around in joy. Karina had not only won the race but also scored a substantial amount of prize money. BamBam, having won all the bets he placed, was also celebrating his success.
After breaking on her bike and removing her helmet, Karina was engulfed by a swarm of well-wishers. Aeri and I maneuvered through the crowd to reach her. Aeri led the way, offering her congratulations with a pat on the back, while I stood there beaming at her. Our eyes met, and she returned a small grin. For me, that was enough. Her eyes spoke volumes, brimming with excitement and joy.
As things settled, Karina gathered her winnings, and we trailed back to the garage together.
"That was one of your finest races in a while!" Aeri praised.
"Thank you. I really appreciate you guys being there, cheering me on," Karina replied, a grateful expression on her face.
"So, when's the next race?" Aeri inquired.
"In two weeks. I need to get some more parts for my bike, upgrade it, and also visit my mom to give her some money," Karina informed us.
"Speaking of your mom, how's she doing?" Aeri inquired.
"She's still working, despite me telling her to retire. That woman is just too stubborn," Karina replied, shaking her head.
"Just like you," Aeri teased with a smirk.
"Hey! I have my reasons, alright?" Karina retorted with a slight glare.
Before Aeri could reply, her phone rang. 'I'll be right back,' she said before leaving Karina and me alone. 'And now there are two,' I murmured to myself.
"So, Karina, you did an awesome job out there! I was really impressed by how you clutch in the end. I was so anxious the whole time, rooting for you, and I just wanted you to win and I was so worried—" I started to ramble.
"Y/n!" Karina exclaimed, gripping my shoulders and staring at me. "Calm down, you're rambling," she urged, trying to rein in my chatter.
Her sudden touch caught me off guard, bringing an unexpected closeness that felt like we were almost within kissing distance. I shook my head, trying to dispel those thoughts. "Sorry... that happens when I feel awkward or anxious," I explained.
She withdrew her hands and kept staring at me. "It's fine, just take a moment. If you need to ease your anxiety, try dunking your head in ice-cold water. That might help," Karina suggested calmly.
"I'll keep that in mind for next time," I replied.
Karina returned to her bike, resuming work by taking parts off, fetching tools and components from her workbench, and moving back and forth between them. Lost in my thoughts, I scanned the garage, wondering where Aeri had vanished to.
"You know, you can sit, right?" Karina's voice startled me out of my reverie. I glanced at her, finding her staring at me and pointing to the chair nearby.
“Oh right, sorry,”I sheepishly grinned in response, taking the hint and finally sitting down. I couldn't help but keep glancing around the garage, occasionally stealing quick looks at Karina. The silence became unbearable, prompting me to break it.
"Do you need any help?" I offered, hoping to engage in conversation.
"Nope," she replied bluntly.
"Can I help you, though? I can't stand this silence, and I want to do something," I persisted.
"You can sit and be quiet," she repeated, smirking as she glanced up.
I remained silent, pursing my lips and continuing to observe her.
"Please, let me help!" I pleaded, growing desperate to do something.
"Fine, come here," she finally relented. I eagerly approached her, thrilled to lend a hand.
"I'm giving you a very big responsibility, okay? Now, hold the flashlight and don't move," Karina instructed, handing me the flashlight.
I felt disappointed; holding the flashlight was something my dad always made me do, and I often got yelled at for doing it wrong. Nevertheless, I was doing something, and for the next 20 minutes, I held onto it diligently. Finally, Aeri returned from her phone call.
"What the hell?! What took so long?" I exclaimed at her, still clutching the flashlight.
"Y/n, hold the flashlight correctly!" Karina interjected. "Oops, sorry," I apologized and adjusted my grip to hold it correctly.
"Sorry I took so long; it was an important call I can't go into details about right now, but I promise it's nothing bad," Aeri explained.
"Okay, I hope everything's alright," I replied.
"Everything's good. Are you ready to leave? Because I am," Aeri asked.
"Yeah, I'm ready," I confirmed, turning off the flashlight and handing it back to Karina.
"Alright, let's go. Bye, Karina! See you soon!" Aeri called out as she exited the garage.
"Bye, Karina, till then," I called out. As I began to duck my head under the garage door, I caught her saying goodbye.
"Bye, Y/n," I heard Karina's voice say as she continued tinkering with her bike.
"Alright, let's head back to our dorm. Don't worry, you'll be back; this is just the beginning," Aeri reassured me as we made our way back toward the stairs we came from.
•·················•·················•
It's the following day, and a strong urge pulls me to return to the garage. I'm not sure why I feel this way, but the desire is there. After getting ready, I head towards Aeri’s room to check if she's around, but her neatly made bed indicates she's probably left for class.
Deciding to go on my own, I recall the location and remember that Aeri had sent me the address. Gathering my belongings, I leave the room and start walking towards the destination.
I'm in the stairwell, making my way down toward the familiar door Aeri had led me through. As I approach, I notice the music still blaring, but today, the neon blue lights replace yesterday's vibrant colors. I glance around before heading toward Karina’s garage.
Suddenly, a random guy yells, "Hey, Beautiful! Come over here and sit on my lap!" I choose to ignore him and keep walking.
"Come on, I know you heard me! Come here!" he yells out again, this time patting his lap in an insistent and uncomfortable manner.
"No thanks, I'm good," I firmly replied, trying to maintain my course toward Karina’s garage.
But, as expected, the guy persists and ends up blocking my way. I look up at him, my expression blank, while he grins down at me. "Can I help you?" I retort, my arms crossed and an attitude evident in my tone.
"Yea, I asked you to do something but you didn't," the musty guy states.
"Yea, I know," I respond bluntly.
"You know... I don't take no for an answer," he declares, his tone suggesting an intent to push the issue.
"And? I do not care," I reiterated, my arms remaining crossed.
He made a move to reach for my arm, but thankfully, a familiar voice intervened. It was Karina. I felt a surge of relief; I was beginning to get anxious at the thought of him grabbing me.
"Nate, what are you doing?" Karina's voice addressed him directly.
"Karina! Hey! I was just trying to get this beautiful lady to sit on my lap and do other things if you know what I mean," Nate replied with a suggestive wink, trying to play it off.
Karina's expression turned serious. "Actually, she’s with me, and she is off-limits. I do not want you anywhere near her," Karina asserted firmly, setting a clear boundary.
"How come? I'm just having some fun," Nate retorted with a smirk, clearly not taking Karina's instructions seriously.
"I don't care. She’s off-limits. Now leave!" Karina's tone grew firmer, her frustration evident.
"Yea, sure, see you around, beautiful," Nate said, smirking as he began to walk away.
Karina gripped my hand firmly, concern evident in her eyes. "Are you okay? What are you doing here by yourself? Do you realize that if I wasn’t here, things could've gone bad? You can’t be here without me or Aeri, got it?" She guided me towards her garage, still holding my hand.
"I know. I'm sorry. I promise not to come here without you or Aeri," I assured her.
"You didn't answer my question. Why are you here?" She pressed for an explanation.
"I just wanted to continue helping you with your bike. Also, I had no class today, so I decided to come here," I answered honestly.
"You came all this way just to help me with my bike?" she asked incredulously.
"Yeah, why not?" I replied casually.
Karina chuckled in disbelief. "Okay, fine, you can help. Let's get started," she agreed.
And so, that's what we did. I began coming by every other day or whenever I had free time to assist her in preparing her bike for the upcoming race. Over time, we started enjoying each other's company, engaging in light conversation. However, we hadn't broached certain topics—things I wanted to know, like why she started street racing. I chose to keep those questions to myself, saving them for another day.
One such day, I had no class and was free. I had Karina’s number now, so I texted her beforehand that I was heading to the garage. She mentioned she'd meet me at the door, and true to her word, that's where she was. We walked together towards the garage, and she let me enter first before following. "So, what are we working on today?" I inquired.
"Nothing, because we are finished!" she announced with a grin, a familiar expression that I had come to adore over the past two weeks. That grin, when directed at me, felt unlike any other.
"Really? You finished it?" I asked in amazement.
"No, we finished it," she corrected, her grin turning into a warm smile.
I mirrored her smile. "Does that mean we get to go on a test drive?" I was thrilled at the prospect of riding the bike after investing so much effort into it.
"Of course! Here, let me get you a helmet," she offered, fetching one for me. She returned, placing the helmet on me. The visor was closed, but a simple click opened it, and suddenly, Karina was gazing into my eyes.
"There you are, hi!" she greeted with a grin.
"Hi back," I replied, returning her greeting. She continued to gaze at me for a moment before turning to retrieve her own helmet, securing it in place. Walking over to her bike, she mounted it first, signaling for me to climb on behind her.
Once I was on, I instinctively held onto the sides of the bike, but Karina guided my arms around her stomach, encouraging me to wrap them securely. I held on tightly, feeling the firmness of her toned stomach, grateful that she couldn't see my blushing face.
"Are you ready?" she asked.
"Of course," I replied, trying to mask any hint of nervousness in my voice.
She ignited the engine, and it roared thunderously, the sound reverberating throughout the garage. As she opened the garage door, the engine revved, and we surged out. The speed we gained made me hold onto Karina even tighter, a sudden fear gripping me.
In my helmet, I heard her voice. "You okay back there?" she inquired.
"Wait, how am I hearing you so clearly?" I asked, puzzled.
"There's Bluetooth connected to the helmets," she explained.
"Ah, that’s nice. And to answer your question, yes, I am okay, just a bit scared at the speed we're going," I confessed.
"Do you trust me?" she asked.
"Yes," I replied without hesitation.
"Then everything will be okay," she assured me, continuing to ride out of the tunnels and onto the main road.
As we navigated through the city, Karina's voice came through the helmets. "I want to take you somewhere, will you let me?" she asked.
Her proposal made my heart melt; it was a simple yet profound request. "Yes, take me wherever you want to go," I responded.
"Okay, thank you," she replied, steering toward her chosen destination.
We ascended a hill with a breathtaking view of the city, but Karina kept driving until we reached our final stop. She parked the bike, removing the key, and got off first. Extending her hand, she helped me dismount as well. "What is this place?" I inquired, following her closer to the view.
"It's a place where my dad brought my mom to confess his feelings to her. It was his spot, and even before that, it belonged to my grandma. After my dad passed away, my mom brought me here because I couldn't get over his death. She shared all their stories with me, and we laughed and cried together," Karina explained, her voice carrying the weight of memories.
I hung onto her every word. Karina paused for a moment before continuing.
"She also told me to come here whenever I feel stressed out or just need to connect with my dad in a way. So that's what I did. I was here last night, seeking guidance. I asked him if I should go forth with something, and I got the answer I wanted," she said, smiling warmly at me as she spoke.
Karina's revelation left me speechless. I sensed there was more she wanted to express.
"There’s another thing Mom told me about this spot. She said if I wanted to confess my feelings to someone, I should come here. It’s a place special to me, where my dad and grandma did the same in the past," she explained, her gaze fixed on me.
My heart raced at her words. She took hold of my hands. "Y/n, over the last two weeks, my feelings for you have grown. It started when I saw Nate getting too close to you. I realized then that I’d do anything to keep you safe. I've cherished every moment we've spent fixing my bike. I’ve come to realize that I have feelings for you. Please, tell me you feel the same?”
I was taken aback by her confession, my mind racing as I processed her words and the depth of my own feelings.
I was taken aback. Karina's confession of her feelings caught me by surprise, but it filled me with joy to know that the emotions were mutual. With heartfelt honesty, I replied, “Karina... from the moment your smile caught my eye, I felt something special. The time we've shared, every moment, it's made my feelings grow stronger. I do feel the same way. I'm grateful you feel it too.”
As Karina's hand cupped my cheek, her touch was gentle yet filled with longing. Our gazes locked, conveying emotions words couldn't express. I leaned into her touch, feeling the warmth of her hand against my skin. In that silent exchange, the air thickened with anticipation. We moved closer, our bodies drawn together by an invisible force. When our lips finally met, a surge of electricity ran through me, setting my nerves on fire. My heart raced with a mix of excitement and nervousness, mirroring the intensity I sensed in Karina. Every heartbeat seemed synchronized, creating an unspoken harmony between us. I withdrew my hand from hers, instinctively wrapping both around her neck, drawing her closer and intensifying the kiss. Simultaneously, her hand moved to the side of my stomach, tracing gentle, reassuring circles. The passionate exchange stirred a whirlwind of emotions between us, each moment pulsating with raw feelings. As the kiss deepened, the need for air became undeniable, forcing us to reluctantly break apart, breathless and exhilarated.
We were both breathing heavily, savoring the lingering sensation of the kiss. I opened my eyes first; Karina's remained closed, a charming smile gracing her face. When her eyes finally met mine, we shared a moment of laughter, both in disbelief and excitement. Karina reached out, taking my hand. "Come on, let's go do something fun," she said, smiling warmly.
I grabbed her hand, and we sprinted back to her bike. She swiftly handed me the helmet, planting one more kiss on my lips before securing the helmet over my head. With her helmet on, she mounted the bike, extending her hand to help me get on. I wrapped my arms around her waist, holding on tightly as she revved the engine and guided us to our next stop.
This time, cruising through the city felt different—carefree, even. I felt lighter, more alive, and undeniably happy, all thanks to the girl in front of me. As we reached Imperial, a nightclub, Karina dismounted first and helped me off the bike. She handed the keys to the valet, grasped my hand, and led me confidently toward the entrance. We bypassed any need for IDs as Karina was familiar with the bouncer.
After arriving, we beelined to the bar for drinks. Shots flowed freely, and we lost ourselves in the music, dancing together all night. Carefree and spirited, we moved to the beats, laughing and enjoying the moment. Eventually, we somehow made it back home, and waking up there, I was grateful that we'd safely returned.
I woke up in a room that didn’t seem familiar, but seeing Karina next to me put me at ease. Glancing around, I noticed a picture of her and BamBam on the nightstand. It was Karina's room. I felt a moment of panic, worrying we'd gone too far last night, but a quick check under the blanket revealed I was fully dressed. I sighed in relief and stole a glance at Karina, peacefully asleep beside me. She stirred, and I found myself captivated by her face. She slowly opened her eyes, catching me in the act.
“What a lovely sight to wake up to,” she said, her morning voice soft and gentle.
I grinned and leaned in for a kiss. She reciprocated, but before it could linger, she broke away. “As much as I'd love to, let me brush my teeth first.”
“Karina, it's fine. Come here,” I insisted, trying to pull her back for another kiss. With a laugh, she evaded my grasp and dashed into the bathroom, teasingly repeating, “No, let me brush my teeth!”
I stayed seated on her bed, chuckling at her playful antics, before eventually rising and making my way to the bathroom. While we brushed our teeth, our playful nudges and giggles made it feel like we were back in high school.
Once we finished brushing our teeth, we moved to her kitchen and decided to make some food. Karina prepared some eggs and toast, a simple yet satisfying breakfast.
“Y/n,” Karina said, breaking the calm ambiance of the morning.
“Yeah?” I responded, looking up to meet her gaze.
Her eyes held a mix of adoration and nervousness. “Will you be my girlfriend?” she asked, her voice slightly wavering.
My heart fluttered in excitement. "I would love to be your girlfriend," I replied, rising from my seat to give her a passionate kiss. She returned it with equal fervor.
Breaking the kiss, she took a deep breath. "There's a race tonight. I want you and Aeri to be there, please," she requested.
"Absolutely, count on us!" I assured her.
"Great! You guys are like my good luck charms in a way, so I need you there," she said, gently rubbing my sides.
The tension was palpable as the night settled in. Karina had her eyes set on a significant prize this time. Winter, her competitor, was no ordinary racer, having secured victories at a level matching Karina's own accomplishments. When I inquired if Karina felt nervous about this race, she assured me of her composure, having previously met Winter, who seemed amiable.
As we arrived at the garage, the atmosphere crackled with a blend of excitement and anticipation. Aeri and I joined forces to help Karina ready her bike, meticulously tuning every detail for optimum performance. Meanwhile, Karina engaged in a serious conversation with BamBam, strategizing about bets and fine-tuning her approach for the upcoming race.
"Think Karina's got this one in the bag?" I asked Aeri, passing her a wrench.
"I'm not entirely certain this time. Winter's no joke. She's a fantastic racer, saw her work before, and it's impressive," Aeri replied, adjusting a tool.
“She’s really that good?” I inquired, surprised by Aeri’s statement about Winter.
“She’s just as good as Karina,” Aeri confirmed.
Karina returned after her conversation with BamBam, drawing me in for a quick peck to express gratitude for cleaning her bike. Before I could respond, Aeri interjected playfully, demanding her own acknowledgment for the help she'd provided. Karina indulged her with a forehead kiss, a smirk playing on her lips.
Aeri teased about being the matchmaker, observing Karina and me embracing each other. As the moment of the race arrived, BamBam's booming voice signaled Karina to prepare, redirecting everyone's attention to the impending competition.
“Alright guys, let's go race,” Karina announced, setting the momentum for the upcoming event. As we made our way to the race track, Winter appeared, engrossed in conversation with some acquaintances. Aeri departed momentarily to fetch drinks while I stayed by Karina's side.
Karina sought to park her bike beside Winter’s. “Are you okay waiting here for a bit?” she inquired.
“Yes, I'm good,” I replied as she moved to position her bike. In the meantime, Winter approached me. “Hey, what's your name?” she asked with a smile.
“I'm Y/n, and you’re Winter,” I responded.
“That’s me! So… why is a beautiful girl standing alone by herself?” Winter questioned, her expression playful.
“Oh, just waiting on a friend,” I answered casually, trying to keep things light amidst the anticipation of the race.
“How about this? You and I go somewhere together after the race is done?” Winter proposed, her tone playful.
“Umm-” I hesitated, feeling a rush of panic. Where was Karina when I needed her?
“Oh, come on, I don't bite… unless you want me to?” Winter flirted, her demeanor teasing.
"Karina!" Relief washed over me as she arrived, once again coming to my rescue.
"Karina! This is your girlfriend?" Winter's curiosity was evident in her gaze toward both of us.
"Yes, she is." Karina confirmed, wrapping her arms around me protectively.
Winter eyed Karina's protective gesture and then smirked. "Okay then, your girl is a fine dime. I want to make a bet. If I win, you break up with Y/n, and she comes with me. If I don't, we can act like this conversation never happened," Winter proposed, extending her hand for a handshake.
“Deal,” Karina said, her tone firm, as she shook Winter’s hand.
“Great doing business with you,” Winter said with a smirk, winking at me before strolling toward her bike.
My heart raced with disbelief and hurt. “Karina, seriously? You’re just going to let that happen?” I felt betrayed, hurt that she would entertain such an idea without discussing it with me. I began to turn away, but Karina caught hold of my hand before I could leave.
“Y/n listen to me,” Karina pleaded as she held onto my hand.
I stopped but didn’t turn around. “No way. I can't believe this. You’re willing to throw away our relationship just like that,” I exclaimed, snapping my fingers in frustration. “We haven't even been together for two days, and now you’re betting on me? If you lose, I’m as good as gone,” I said, my anger palpable, trying to control the quiver in my voice.
“I did it to protect you.” Her voice cracked with an unexpected vulnerability.
“Protect me?” I turned to face her, frustration and confusion mixing within me.
“Winter... She’s a ruthless racer, and she’s been known for her tricks off the track. I couldn’t risk anything happening to you. I had to agree, but believe me, I never meant it. You mean more to me than anything else, Y/n. Please, you have to trust me on this.”
Her words struck a chord, but I was still shaken. “How could you make a deal like that without even discussing it with me?”
Karina's expression softened, remorse clear in her eyes. “I know, and I’m sorry. I panicked. Please, I’ll figure out a way. I won’t let anything happen to us.”
I hesitated, the hurt mingling with understanding. “You promise?”
“Absolutely. Trust me, okay?” Karina pleaded, her eyes pleading for forgiveness.
I sighed, torn between emotions but wanting to believe her. “Fine.”
She pulled me into a tight hug. “Thank you, Y/n. I promise, I’ll fix this, I’ll win the race for you.”
“I don't want to discuss it further. Let’s just focus on the race. I’ll be there with Aeri cheering you on,” I said, my hurt evident as I gave Karina a peck on the lips before walking over to Aeri, who had our drinks.
“What happened between you and Karina?” she asked, noticing Karina's sad expression.
“She and Winter made a bet about our relationship,” I explained.
“What kind of bet?” she inquired, eyebrows furrowed.
“If Winter wins, Karina and I have to split so I end up with Winter,” I revealed.
“What? Why would she agree to that?” Aeri exclaimed.
“I have no idea, but she’s asking me to trust her,” I replied.
“Okay, then let's try to trust her.”
The race commenced as Aeri and I fixated on the screen, watching Winter and Karina revving their engines atop their bikes. A girl emerged, brandishing a red flag. As she dropped it, signaling the start, the engines roared to life, and the race began.
Initially, it was a tight competition, neck and neck, but Winter skillfully claimed the lead. Her bike navigated every twist and turn effortlessly, gaining ground with ease. Karina trailed closely behind, mirroring Winter's prowess as they maneuvered through the course.
As the race unfolded, it became evident that Winter's racing skills were formidable, just as Aeri and Karina had indicated. The tension mounted within me as I fervently rooted for Karina to win. My feelings for her grew more pronounced with every twist and turn. I didn't want to end up with Winter; it was Karina I truly cared about.
Karina surged ahead at one point, fueling a flicker of hope, but it was short-lived as Winter swiftly overtook her. They were now neck and neck, closing in on the finish line. Karina managed to match Winter's pace, riding side by side. Both racers shared a momentary gaze, a blend of determination and grit in their eyes, each vying for victory.
My heart raced with anxiety as they neared the finish line. Winter had a slight edge, but Karina's resolve was unmistakable. The atmosphere was electric as they crossed the finish line simultaneously, leaving us all in suspense, waiting for the official outcome.
"Did Winter just win?" I asked myself in disbelief, falling to my knees, hurt by the outcome.
"Wait, wait!" The announcer's voice boomed. "Let's have a replay!"
As we watched the replay, it was clear: Karina's wheel crossed the finish line first. "Karina won!" I shouted in jubilation, Aeri joining in.
The crowd erupted into cheers. Karina removed her helmet, smiling. Winter approached her, extending her hand. "Good race, Jimin," she said.
Karina shook her hand, replying, "Good race, Minjeong."
Overwhelmed with emotion, I ran towards Karina, enveloping her in a tight hug. "You won," I said, still in disbelief.
"I told you to trust me," she said softly.
"I'll always trust you," I replied, pulling her into a passionate kiss.
The kiss was interrupted by Aeri's arrival. "AYYY, Karina!! YOU WON!!" she screamed, rushing to hug her. But then, Aeri punched Karina's arm hard.
"Ouch! What was that for?!" Karina exclaimed.
"That was for accepting the bet," Aeri retorted.
Karina sighed. "At least I won, and it's over now."
"Yeah, it's in the past. Let's focus on the present and work towards the future," I chimed in.
Karina went to collect her winnings, and we all headed back to Imperial to celebrate her victory. Imperial was alive with music, and we lost ourselves in the beats, dancing and reveling in the energy of the night. Karina and I moved together on the dance floor, the heat of the room adding to the charged atmosphere. The way she looked at me sent shivers down my spine, her desire unmistakable.
As our bodies moved in sync, the electricity between us intensified. Karina leaned in close, her voice a seductive murmur in my ear. “You look amazing tonight,” she whispered, her hand tracing a tantalizing path across my skin.
Unable to resist any longer, I pulled Karina closer to me, breathlessly murmuring in her ear, “Let's get out of here.” I could see the immediate spark of desire in her eyes as she eagerly took my hand, leading me out of the club. Outside, she hailed a cab, and within 10 minutes, we arrived at her house.
Pressing against her door, our passion intensified. Karina momentarily paused our embrace to unlock the door, and as soon as it swung open, she pushed me inside before closing it firmly behind us. We resumed our fervent kissing as we made our way upstairs to her room.
Karina shoved me onto the bed and removed her bra and shirt. She returned to kissing me, making tracks with her lips as she kissed down my neck. She broke the kiss and gripped the bottom of my dress, asking for permission to take it off. And I let her. I reached back to unhook my bra when she removed my dress. Allowing it to descend before me. After everything was off, she teased my nipples and kissed every part of my body, leaving as many traces as she could.
With my panties still in the way, she began to kiss her way down my body, reaching closer to my heart.
"Please," I whimpered.
Karina pulled down my panties and planted a kiss on top of them. began removing her boxers and pants. "Anything for you baby.” She muttered.
She gently brushed her cock's head on my pussy. “Fuck baby you’re so wet. Who makes you this wet” Karina Moaned.
"You!" I groaned, "Please, Karina, do something.
She began to break my pussy apart with her cock as she pushed it through my hole. She groaned, "Fuck you're so tight," and began to thrust in me. I felt amazing the way Karina was touching all the right places inside me. "Harder," I moaned.
Karina pounding me harder. We both moaned loudly. I was getting close. “Fuck Karina I’m close” I gasp out.
She groaned, continuing to thrust, "Me too."
I groaned, "Fuck Karina, you feel so good," as tears streamed down my cheeks from the pleasure she was giving me.
"Baby, where do you want it? Karina groaned, "Where do you want my cum?"
I moaned out, "Please cum inside."
Karina pushed herself closer to me. She reached down to my clit and gave it a few rapid circular rubs, and that was it for me.
I cried, "Fuck Karina, I'm cumming."
“Cum for me baby” She husked.
I squeezed Karina’s cock while I came hard. Sending her over the edge, she shoot ropes of cum into my pussy painting my walls white. I groaned at the warmth. Karina stood steady inside me for a second before releasing her grip and pulling out. She takes a deep breath and settles down next me, drawing me very close to her chest.
“Sleep now, beautiful. I’ll see you in the morning,” Karina whispered, planting a gentle kiss on my forehead.
•·················•·················•
“Hey, whatcha thinkin' about?” Karina asked, gazing at me with affection. We had just arrived at our spot. I hugged her tight. “Just thinking about when we first met, that's all,” I replied.
She leaned in for a peck. “Thanks to Aeri, I met the love of my life,” Karina said, smiling.
“Agreed,” I chuckled, drawing her into a kiss.
“I love you, Y/n,” she murmured against my lips.
“I love you too, Jimin.”

I've been reading your work for a while now and the way you write for Mammon is amazing, you're definitely my favourite writer for him. So I was wondering if you aren't too busy if could you please write breakup headcanons for mammon
HELLO! Thank you so, so much!!! It means so much to me that you enjoy what I write! Most of it is my delerious train of thought at like 1am so im honestly shocked at the amount of support ive been getting!
ANYWAYS, ONTO THE HCS!
HB MAMMON X GN!READER, BREAKUP HCS
I'm assuming you meant like, if you broke up with Mammon? If thats not what u meant just send in another anon! I wont mind :3
Tumblr media
- Okay, first of all, how dare you?
- He is, the Mammon. You don't just decide when things are over!
- You were smart enough to break it off with him over text, rather than in person, because he absolutely would throw a scene. No matter where you are, public or private. Think Sarah Lynn level shit.... like, literally stabbing himself, in public, to prove a point.
- What is the point? That he loves you!
- He's especially pissed off about the fact that you broke it off with him though. It bruised his ego, he would much, much prefer it if he had been the one to have broken up with you. He would have never done that though.
- He would go through the five stages of grief 100%
- For the first few days he's in DEEP denial about it. He'd go about life as though the two of you were still together, even though you weren't there.
- Pretending that you were on a work trip or something really helped. It gave him a sense of hope that one day you'd return to him, and he'd feel your warm body embraced against his once again.
- But you and Mammon were a big public thing, like, everyone knew about you. So, people started to notice your absence. Where you would always be by his side now bore an empty pocket of air. People started questioning it;
- From simple posts online to 666News interviews asking him invasive questions regarding your lack of publicity. It pissed him right off, because he couldn't pretend you were still with him whilst constantly being reminded that you weren't.
- And then you spoke up about the breakup.
- You made a Tweet regarding the status of your relationship. Que the next stage...
- With the world now aware of your distanced status Mammon was bombarded with crude comments and remarks, from your fans and haters, to his fans and haters. It'd range from "Wow Mammon fumbled the bag hard." to "Now that Mammon is single do you think he'll start letting groupies backstage ?"
- He actually refused to show up to a lot of interviews and talk-shows because every single time theu brought up the headline, he would get so, so angry. He's almost torn through an interviewer once or twice.
- His bargaining phase was the absolute worst phase though.
- Thousands of calls a day, and an equal level of voice messages followed by hundreds of texts. You'd block his number and then BAM, another number calls you. He manipulates the phone manufacturer of Hell to give him an unlimited free supply of phones so expect him to not let up in that department.
- You know that meme where the person is stood outside the door, crying, with an umbrella over their head and fake rain over them. That's him.
- He gets Beelzebub to provide the fake rain and probably prepared a whole speech to recite to you... its not that good though, most of it is deflective bullshit. He wont take his own problems into account at all.
- If you don't take him back after that then he may even resort to the old boombox by the window trick.
- I don't think he'd hit the depression or acceptance stages of grief, though. He's a tempermental character and he resorts to anger if something doesn't go his way. So the traits he shows through this whole ordeal is frustration and desperation.
- He has a strict victim complex too. So he's most likely never going to understand what he did wrong in the relationship.
- Even if he did realise what he did however, he isn't apologising. He expects you to understand and forgive him despite this.
-It would take him a long while to get over you.
-You were one of the only people who would put up with his shitty personality, who could make him feel so loved and adored. It had been a long, long time since someone had made him feel such a way. It was such a fleeting experience, and he will not be recovering from the loss of your love any time soon.
This is a little short, so I do apologise! I hope you enjoy it anon :)

Cold Shoulder
Robert Rosenthal x Reader
Word Count - 1273
Based off of this request:
Hello! First and foremost ,I would like to tell you that I really enjoyed reading Spilled Drink and I would love to read the third part of the story. I was wondering if you could write a Rosie story, where he flirts with the oc but she is giving him the coldest shoulder ( something that he didn’t expect) . So he makes it his mission to make her like him. Thank you 😊
small authors note, it isn’t exactly like the request but i wrote this on my lunch break today and tried my best with the hour i had 🫠 i hope you still enjoy it
Tumblr media
Rosie had never been so lost for words in his life. He had never been so blatantly ignored and he couldn’t figure out what he had done to deserve it. His entire flow felt off. He had seen her around Thorpe Abbotts for a while now, sharing glances and half hearted smiles but now - absolutely nothing. A cold shoulder couldn’t even explain her reaction towards him.
After being the only plane to return from their mission, Rosie and his crew were sent to the Coombe house to get some R & R and despite his best efforts to leave, he was made to stay. When he returned to base a week later, everything felt wrong - including her.
He was still frozen in disbelief, hard grip on his glass, when Harry’s hand slapped down on his shoulder. “Tough crowd, Rose?” Rosie let out the breath he didn’t realize he was holding and nodded. “You have no idea, Cros. I don’t know what in the hell I did. I asked her for a dance and she all but ran away from me.” Harry turned his friend to face him. “Maybe she’s got a lover out there somewhere, fighting just like us.” The idea had crossed his mind but he couldn’t just ignore the smiles and eye contact they had shared for weeks before. It was possible he had read too far into her actions. ‘Maybe she was just being nice’ he thought, shaking his head and trying to take his mind off of the rejection. Clearing his throat he responded “Yeah, Cros, you’re probably right.” When his head hit his pillow that night the scene replayed over and over in mind, embarrassment coursing through his body.
Two days had passed since Rosie’s run-in at the bar and he would be lying if he said the memories of that night weren’t ingrained in his brain. He was pulled back to reality when the Colonel stepped into the hallway, beckoning him into his office. “How have you been, Captain Rosenthal?”
“Fine, sir.” he said. “I hope the flak house treated you and your men well?” All he could do was meet the question with a curt nod. It honestly hadn’t been what he wanted. He left when everything and everyone needed him and returned to the little semblance he had turned up on its head. The rest of the meeting eluded his mind, putting his brain and responses on auto pilot. Excusing himself and saluting the Colonel, he stepped out of the hut and urged his feet to lead him to the chow hall. All he wanted at that moment was a cup of coffee and a moment to clear his brain. A few steps distanced himself from the building before he caught a glimpse of her, leaning up against the women’s barracks with a cigarette loosely hanging from her lips, her hands busy repinning the fallen curls framing her face. He couldn’t see his own reaction but he knew he looked like he had seen a ghost. He stood, feet planted on the gravel for a good minute - debating his next action. He could continue to chow with his pride intact or take one more chance at catching the girls attention. ‘C’mon Robert. You fly damn planes into warzones. She’s just a girl.’ Fuck it.
He stopped in front of her, her gaze still on the ground kicking around the loose gravels.
“Excuse me, ma’am.” Rosie softly spoke, lightly clearing his throat. Her eyes slowly raked up the body standing in front of her. Her mouth slightly fell open and the cigarette threatened to fall from her lips. She remained silent although her eyes were darting around.
“I know, uh, I know I spoke to you the other night at the bar. I didn’t mean to overstep. It’s just -” he took a deep breath before continuing. “It’s just, I’ve seen you around for weeks now and I’ve meant to say hello or wave - or something - but I don’t know. Would it be stupid to say I was nervous?’ she still didn’t speak but a small shake of her head to signal ‘no’ was enough for Rosie to keep rambling. “I know it probably sounds stupid. I go thousands of feet in the area in a big metal box and fly through battlefields but I can’t even speak to a pretty girl.” He shook his head, letting out a small laugh.
“You think I’m pretty?” his heart almost jumped out his chest as her timid voice broke through the silence. He could feel the heat rising to his face.
“Uh,” he laughed awkwardly ,”Yes ma’am, yes I do.”
They still hadn’t made direct eye contact yet but her feet had stopped scuffing at the patch of grass growing by the side of the barrack building. A hand appeared in her vision, waiting for hers to connect. “I’m Robert Rosenthal but please, call me Rosie. Everyone else on this base does.” Their hands intertwined and he took control of lightly shaking them up and down.
“Y/N Y/L/N but everyone just calls me Y/N.” For the first time in this whole interaction Rosie watched as a small smile had slowly worked its way onto her face.
“Well, just Y/N, I’m on a mission for a hot cup of coffee. Would you like to make the hike with me?” A slight nod of her head had his feet moving once again. He was dying to ask more questions, to pry into her life and truly get to know the girl walking beside him but the last thing he wanted to do was scare her away.
“Can I admit something to you, Rosie?” Her voice breaking the silence almost made his entire body freeze. “Of course, Y/N.”
She took a breath before stopping dead in her tracks, Rosie doing the same but a few steps up ahead. ‘Oh God, this is it.’ is all he could think. He hung his head preparing himself for the blow of disappointment he was suspecting.
“I got worried about you. Last week, you know?” she admitted, sheepishly. “Everyone saw you land, including me. I was selfishly happy it was you. I wanted to tell you that when I saw you next but the next day on my walk to work, I didn’t pass you like I usually do. I didn’t see you the whole week and I think, in my mind, I kinda expected the worst. Seeing you in that bar last weekend I,” she took a moment, seeming to try and collect her thoughts “it was like seeing a ghost.” It was her turn for the heat to rise to his cheeks.
Rosie didn’t know what to say. He was at a loss for words. In all of the scenarios he had dreamed up in his mind that was never one of them.
“You thought I died?” he asked, dumbfounded. She rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly.
“I didn’t know your name. You and your whole crew disappeared. I thought asking people about you would be a sore spot.” she admitted. “So, you don’t hate my guts and never want to speak to me again?” For the first time ever, Rosie heard her laugh. Like a true, doubled over belly laugh.
“Hate you? God no. I guess I was just waiting for the right moment to talk to you. I thought I had waited too long.” He shook his head at the girl. “You didn’t.” he said. “It seems like we have some catching up to do.” she nodded in agreement before he spoke again. “You still wanna get that coffee?”
Author’s note: Hi friends, another Rosie fic for y’all ♥️ I hope you enjoy this. It hasn’t been proofread/double checked at all so pleas disregard all of the little mishaps here and there.

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! I heard so many good shows this week, let’s goooooo
🥃 I started listening to @breakerwhiskey this week, and I’m on episode 21 (which is nothing, it’s microfic), and it is so compelling. Lauren Shippen said in episode zero that she misses the improvisational feel of early audio dramas and that really comes through in this show—the wandering of the story reflects the wandering of Whiskey herself. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
🎵I am not alone in my reaction to the new season of @hellofromthehallowoods, which I think goes something like, “Wh—who—but—Arnold?????” (Seriously, Arnold???) but I love a mystery, and I love how linear this season is starting out. I’m sure that it’ll all get more complicated soon.
💔 Have you all heard Josie’s Lonely Hearts Club? It’s a call-in advice show from a fictional radio station and it is HILARIOUS. Until this last episode, which got SAD. It's a partially improvised show, so the whole thing feels so incredibly human and it always hits. Please listen, more fictional advice shows all around.
🐺 The Midnight Burger/The Amelia Project crossover was exactly as delightful as I expected. We got two shows that love historical figures and putting people in the deep freeze. What could go wrong! Absolutely nothing. With a crossover episode I always wonder if there will be enough character interaction to slake my insatiable character dynamic thirst and for this one I definitely think there was.
🍺 Inn Between dropped an episode of Dragon’s Rest on their feed this week, and I'm here to say that we did that because it's frikkin hilarious. This last episode was so good, especially with Shax trying to talk to a bartender and the bartender getting mad that Shax was complaining about her friends and not having a professional business conversation. I love you, southern-sounding bartender, and I love you Shax.
🩸Hemophobia continues to scare the heck out of me. This series, Camp Havenside, ended exactly how I expected it to, with the extra twist of that horrible half-possessed state Sam is in. Lordt. Listen to this show. Mind the content warnings. Then like, message me about it, it has taken permanent residence in my brain.
🎭 Oh Malevolent, you never disappoint me. I adore the twists the season finale took, and the real danger Arthur and John were in had me on the edge of my seat. How are we gonna get outta this one boys! Frikkin Kayne.
💎 As it ever is, @kingmakerpod was a blessing visited upon my podcatcher. Oh man though, Lucas Lando, what a scuzbag. Like maybe the worst villain yet in this series for me, and I'm including the psychic child. Lando's just unsavory. The action scenes in this episode were excellent, and I love the use of Pocket Cinnamon. For a minute when they were looking for things in the barn that don't conduct electricity, I was very worried for the cows. Honestly now a little surprised they didn't explode a cow. Hey guys, why didn't you explode a cow?
🌈 I've been listening to this actual play, @ourstoriedinsight, and it's about all the typical actual play stuff--a party of misfit adventurers, thrown together by circumstance, trying to stop the end of the world. What stands out about this one is its wonderful sound design and its tone--it's so introspective and kind. The characters are great too. I would die for Vishakapar. If you like an actual play and you don't want to wait for it to get really good, please check out Our Storied Insight.
As for personal news, boy oh boy am I working hard on the Dead! Pray for our recording schedule these next couple weeks. As for Inn Between, we'll be putting up an episode this week that is a true banger, I hope you like it.
That's it for me this week! If you like what I do, send me a tip!

How much you hate me
Tumblr media
The only reason you had to be in his presence is because you were Pedri's good friend and he likes Pablo way too much for your taste. How can anyone like such an annoying jerk!?
"You ready bajita??" Pedri called and you rushed to grab your bag walking outside to meet the two of them standing by the car waiting since y'all are going to the party together tonight.
"Looks like I'm gonna have to fight guys from touching you, hermanita! You look amazing!!" Pedri joked and you blushed loving how he always treated you like a younger sister and a best friend.
"She's asking for it if you ask me.." Pablo groaned pretending to look at his phone when it was clear he was stealing glances from your exposed thighs in that short jean skirt.
"I don't remember asking you!" you snarl walking past him and Pablo rolled his eyes as they followed after you shamelessly checking out your ass which looked so damn delicious in that skirt!
"You just had to insult her ,cabrón!" Pedri hit Pablo head before they joined you in the car with Pablo in the passenger seat and you in the back taking pictures on your phone.
"Can you stop by the gas station? I need to get something." you said and Pedri gladly pulled up while Gavi was whining how you were gonna be late for the party. You completely ignored him rushing inside the store.
"When are you gonna stop being an asshole and admit you like her already??" Pedri asked and Pablo was surprised by his insinuation never thinking about you that way...well apart from when he got horny and your face was all he could think about. Fuck! He really was attracted to you!
"Pablito likes who??" you interrupted their conversation and Pablo quickly came up with a story in his head.
"This instagram model with real boobs and not your non-existant ones! And stop calling the Pablito!" he spat making you a little self conscious looking down at your shirt but you wouldn't show it to him that easily.
"Yeah and no brain surely.." you say making Pedri laugh earning a death glare from Gavi who rolled his eyes and stayed silent for the rest of the ride. He couldn't stop thinking about what Pedri said..how does he tell you now that you 'hate' each other???
You were disappointed that Pablo thought you were not attractive at all from what he said in the car (little did you know 😏) and the rest of the night you lacked the confidence. He was surrounded by girls the moment y'all arrived at the club and all of them had as he said 'real boobs' and 'round asses' while you looked like a literal child.
"Hey, you..wanna have a drink outside with me??" a boy wearing a leader jacket asked and you met his dark eyes feeling excited that someone finally noticed you completely disregarding that he look absolutely untrustworthy smelling strongly of alcohol and weed.
"She's good man!" Pablo appeared besides you and you in the matter of seconds and you wondered how the hell did he notice what was going on while being busy with his 'fangirs'.
"You her boyfriend or something?" man asked and Pablo wanted so badly to proudly say 'yes' and pull you to his side but he knew that was impossible so he just stayed quiet.
"Nope! He says I don't have big enough boobs" you said giving Pablo and angry glance and he swallowed hard hating himself for saying it to you because truth be told, your body was nothing short of perfect..and he was dreaming vividly about it..every..single..night.
"I think they are going to perfectly fit into my hand doll" boy smirks moving closer and you hated that smell but seeing Pablo so angry was worth it. You wanted him to see that someone found you attractive..it was building back your confidence. Meanwhile, Pablo was thinking of all ways to kick this guys ass without causing a scene and ending up int he tabloids the next day.
He's crazy if he was thinking of touching your boobs while Pablo was alive and breathing..nobody but him can hold them! He didn't care about the consequences. But when he was about to step forwards you stood in between boys telling him to leave you alone before leaving outside.
"Pedri! Pedri!" Pablo interrupted his friends make-out session because he was freaking out when you didn't come back worried something bad has happened. If you won't listen to him, you will surely listen to Pedri.
"You 'hermanita' is crazy and stupid! She went out with this scumbag in a leader jacket and will get raped!" Pablo said and Pedri smirked moving away from the third girl tonight pulling his friend to the side away from the music.
"All I hear is that you're jealous she's getting attention only you should be giving her hermano..go get your girl pussy!!!" Pedri tapped his shoulder leaving shortly after clearly too drunk to be of any help right now. Just great! Pablo went outside after you determined to pull you a way from that idiot and take you home safely.
"Donde estas muñeca! Y/n! We're leaving! Vamos!" Pablo was yelling looking around and when he saw you sitting on the car with that guy in between your legs he lost it.
He ran pushing the guy to floor getting on top of him and punching his face until his knuckles were bleeding. You were pulling him off but it was useless since in all that rage, nothing was going to stop Pablo.
When he was 'done', he grabbed your arm pulling you towards the car making you whine since he was quite rough right now. You didn't know what was going on and why he cared all of the sudden!? He said he hated you so many times and here he is punching a guy for getting between your legs (not really😉).
"Stop! What are you doing!? I don't want to leave!"you yelled and he abruptly stopped turning around and looking down at you angrily which made all your confidence vanish. Pablo wasn't tall but since you were so short and he was basically all muscle, he looked very intimidating right now...in a good way.
"Basta! I'll deal with you after we get home!" he said opening the door and you silently entered wondering just how he was going to 'deal' with you later?? You would lie if you didn't say you were intrigued and a bit excited about it all.
"Um..your hand is bleeding" you said quietly hating the uncomfortable silence but he was in no mood to talk still feeling fumed that guy got anywhere near between your legs! He hated thinking what would have happened if he hadn't showed up!
"Pablo..you missed the turn to Pedri's?" you said but Pablo only smirked shaking his head at your comment.
"I'm taking you to my home muñeca" he answered simply and you felt your panties damped as you wondered what will this night bring to you.
"Are you out of your mind!? HUh!? Going out alone with that guy!? He's deifiantelly a drug dealer muñeca!" Pablo was fuming mad as we entered his apartment and you just followed after him avoiding his eyes nervously. Him patronizing you was for some reason so damn attractive right now..
"Why do you care!? You hate me right!?" you spat and he turned around rushing towards you and pushing you against the wall trapping you there with his strong arms and you gulped looking into his eyes bravely.
"I do! I...hate..you..so..damn..much!" he articulated each word clearly while staring at your lips and you were shivering just wanting to taste him finally..you craved it for so long.
"I hate you too.." you say taking one of his hands gently and bringing it to your lips starting to kiss his bruised knuckles softly. Pablo groaned looking at how small you looked kissing his knuckles and his shorts got so tight at the sight.
"Q..que..haces?" Pablo was fighting an urge to fuck you mercilessly against the wall right now and you could feel it continuing with your ministrations.
"Hm..were..you..mad..I..let..him..between..my..legs..Pablito?" you asked kissing in between each word and he listened carefully moving the hand you help and wrapping it around your throat which made your panties ruined.
"He doesn't belong between your legs princesa?" he spoke holding your throat tightly and you smiled pouting which was killing Pablo to see right now. fuck!!! you were driving him crazy right now!!!
"Who does?" you whisper unable to speak from his tight hold on your throat and he smirks leaning in to whisper to your ear.
"Me..."his voice was raspy and you closed your eyes moaning when his lips grazed your earlobe before he pulled back.
"I want you so bad right now! J..joder! What have you done to me!?" Pablo growled pulling you into the bedroom and you fell on the bed as he hovered above you.
His lips crashed onto yours and you were making out feverishly with each other like your life dependent on it. He pulled when both of you were out of breath.
"Show me.." you moaned while he tucked a piece of your hair behind your ear wanting to see all of your beautiful face.
"What princesa?" he asks with a smirk proud to finally have you like this..all for himself.
"How much you hate me.." you said and your lips were colliding once more...want more?? 😉😏

Confessions series: Rook, Kalim, Idia, Floyd, Vil, Silver, Leona, Trey / AO3
Tumblr media
Standing under an ancient apple tree, you listen to the peaceful sounds of wind rustling through green leaves and birds chirping on a high branch. On the other side of the courtyard, you hear a handful of students having quiet, friendly conversations among themselves. You lean back against the gnarled bark of the tree with a sigh and let your eyes wander across the scene in front of you. You visually trace a path across the lush grass lawn, over a few wooden benches, down the paved pathway, and continue up the stone columns supporting the roof of the exterior corridor. Your gaze finally stops there on the corridor roof where Floyd sits, legs dangling over the side and lazily smiling down at you.
"Easy enough, right? Now come up here and join me!" Floyd calls down to you with a slight waggle of his fingers.
You walk over to stand on the pathway under Floyd’s perch and call up to him, “That was a very impressive parkour demonstration but”-you consider the considerable height from the ground to the roof and shake your head with a grimace- “there’s absolutely no way I’m going up there.”
Floyd gives you an exaggerated pout and whines, “Aww, that’s no fun shrimpy!” He reaches into his back pocket with a smirk on his face and holds up a small familiar looking object. “I guess that means you don't want your wallet back then."
You give all of your pockets a quick pat down before letting out a long frustrated sigh. That is indeed your wallet up there in Floyd’s hands. With your hands in your pockets you look over the lanky and relaxed figure sitting high above, and you briefly weigh your options. Your hands close around a small peppermint candy you had grabbed from the Mystery Shop earlier and an idea flashes in your mind.
“Floyd, I’m not going up there so why don’t you just DROP IT?!” you yell out the last few words as you pitch the small candy as hard as you can at the hand holding your wallet.
"Whoa Shrimpy!” Floyd nimbly dodges the thrown confectionery and looks down at you in disbelief. “Did you just throw something at me?!"
You look up at Floyd’s face, his eyes wide and his playful smile gone without a trace. For a few tense seconds, you stare at each other and you begin to wonder if you should make a run for it.
Floyd’s face suddenly breaks out into a wide, sharp grin and he throws his head back in a fit of high pitched laughter. He looks down at you, eyes sparkling with laughter and exclaims, “That's too hilarious! You're pretty bold, shrimpy! I guess that's why I like you." He smiles in an appreciative and relaxed way at you.
You cross your arms over your chest, regretting the failure of your candy plan, and reply in a dry, sarcastic voice, “Yup, that’s me. Just a regular old charmer. You’re so lucky to be my friend.”
Floyd’s smile drops instantly and is replaced by a small frown. "You're not hearing me right, shrimpy.” He stands up and places your wallet back into his pocket. “I said I like you."
You raise your eyebrows questioningly at him and reply, “Yeah that’s basically what I said, right?”
Floyd looks down at you in silence for a few seconds, an unreadable expression on his face. He then takes a step off the corridor roof and lands as effortlessly as if he had just stepped off of the ground. You watch him casually walk over to you with rising curiosity and when he finally stops to stand in front of you with arms crossed over his chest, you tilt your head inquisitively at him.
After staring at you thoughtfully for a moment, Floyd smiles in a secretive way. His mismatched eyes twinkle playfully and crinkle at the corners, as if he knows something hilarious that you don’t. Reaching out towards you, he gently takes both of your hands in his and breezily says, “Let me phrase this in a way that makes it crystal clear for you.”
Floyd begins to slowly walk a circle around you and, with your hands still firmly held in his, you find yourself turning in a circle as well while still facing him. It’s almost as if the two of you are dancing some sort of very slow and lazy kind of waltz. You laugh softly at the thought and Floyd mirrors your laugh with one of his own. He leans a little closer to you and his voice is quiet yet excited, like he’s telling a funny story during class.
"I never know what I'm going to get with you. You're wild, unpredictable, and perfect. To me, you're like endless fireworks falling over the sea. One minute, hot sparks of gold and red. The next minute, cool sea foam floating on the water. Never the same way twice but more wonderful every time after."
He stops walking and, still holding on to you, Floyd looks you over in silence. His expression is one of pure appreciation and marvel. The way he looks it’s as if he’s found sunken treasure and you feel a pleasant tingling in your cheeks, swept up by Floyd’s infectious excitement. Studying his face, you think that it’s the most sincere you’ve ever seen him.
Leaning in closer still, Floyd places his lips close to your ear and whispers with an airy laugh, "A guy could really get hooked on someone like you."
He leans back and smirks when he sees your wide eyes and slightly flushed face. Giving your hands a quick and gentle squeeze, he finally lets go and reaches into his back pocket. He hands your wallet over to you and simply says, "Take a look inside."
With Floyd’s words and cryptic actions swirling and tumbling through your mind, you almost feel like bursting from curiosity and excitement. You open your wallet and in the main pocket you find a small folded piece of paper. Upon unfolding it, you see a message written in a familiar hand. Written in red ink are the words “I love you” with a tiny heart drawn in the corner of the paper.
You suddenly feel a large hand gently land on your shoulder and you look up from the message in your hands to find Floyd’s face right in front of yours. You softly gasp from surprise but with his hand on your shoulder you can’t step back. His face is so close you can almost count his eyelashes and you find yourself tracing the sloping lines of his eyes with your gaze. Looking at his odd colored eyes, one bright and one dark, you feel as if you’re simultaneously looking at the morning and evening sky. It’s a confusing yet exhilarating kind of feeling.
Floyd laughs softly and flashes you an easygoing grin. “So what do you think, Shrimpy? Did I surprise you?”

Soldier Reborn
Pairing: Gn!Reader X  König
Warnings: Dickish Ghost, Violence, Verbal bullying/ridicule
A/N: The plot for this has been rolling around my head for three days now and I finally decided to just sit down and let my mind run with it. Enjoy
You tried, really you did. You tried everything to stay out of trouble, to keep yourself from slipping up and ruining another mission. You’ve been successful so far, every mission you’d been on since your previous failure had gone as planned. Not that you’d been on many. Lieutenant Ghost had insisted you sit out on most of them, claiming you were a liability.
“I’m not sure why Price keeps you around.” Ghost’s eyes were set hard, all of his attention  on you. “You’ve gone and fucked it again. I knew I should've left you behind, should’ve told you to sit this one out.” He’s not yelling but his voice is harsh enough for you to feel as though he is.
You don’t flinch even as his arms fly around wildly. Ghost was an intimidating man, but you’d never feared him. You definitely should have but something in your mind had you absolutely enthralled with the man. “I’m sorry Lieutenant, it was an honest mistake.” You lower your eyes as you replay the scene in your head.
You’d been following Ghost through enemy territory, on the verge of capturing your target. You were so busy watching for any sign of hostiles that you’d not been looking where you were going. Your foot met with a rather large crack in the concrete floor, sending you tumbling rather ungracefully to the floor. The loud clatter of your equipment hitting the ground alerted the target to your presence. All of the chaos that ensued caused you both to lose sight of the target.
Ghost leaned down, practically touching his nose to yours. “Mistakes have no place here.” He’s breathing heavy from the rage coursing through him, each exhale puffing hot air through his mask and into your face. “You’re far too slow and weak. You don’t think through your actions and you get others hurt.” He pulls back straightening his spine as he continues to stare you down.
You look on incredulously, not really listening to the rest of his rant as you ponder his words. Weak? Slow? No, you were none of those. You’ve always been strong and quick on your feet, that’s what drew Price to you in the first place. Sometimes your mind would slip, you’d get caught up in your own thoughts. Like now, you realize with a sardonic laugh, you’ve been completely ignoring Ghost’s curses and ramblings.
Ghost’s head cocks to the side as he goes completely silent for a moment. “Did you just fucking laugh Sergeant?” His voice is low and menacing, nearly a growl. “Care to share what’s so fucking funny?”
Your heart skips a beat as you stare back at your lieutenant. His eyes hold a look of murder and while you didn’t think he’d hurt you, you know he’s more than capable. “I- It wasn’t-” You fumble to find the words to tell him that you weren’t laughing at him. Then you realize you’d have to explain that you weren’t listening and you weren’t prepared for the repercussions of that. “Look, Lieutenant, with all due respect, I don’t believe I’m weak or slow.” You shake your head, attempting to rid yourself of the images of him tearing you to shreds that run through your mind. “I mean, I keep up with you just fine when we spar and during training. I mean,” You feel the regret set into your chest before you’ve even finished your sentence. You beg your mouth to stop before you get yourself in more trouble, but it won’t. “If I’m slow and weak, wouldn’t that mean you are too?”
Ghost’s already angry eyes appear to catch fire as he stares silently at you. You’re fairly certain he’s taking this time to plan your murder. Figuring out the best way to kill  you and make it look like an accident.
After almost two whole minutes of him staring daggers at you he finally speaks. His voice is calm and calculated, eyes set narrow. “There is no place for mistakes in the 141. From now on, you work around the base. You will go on no more missions, big or small. Understood?”
Your eyes widen as you process his words. Anger begins to bubble up under your skin. Your body feels like it's on fire. How could he say that? Did he even hold the power to make that decision? Maybe he was right though, you didn’t belong here. Try as you might, you can’t keep your mouth shut. “You know what Ghost? You're right.” You nod as you take a step back bringing your hand up to the patch you wore so proudly for so long. “There is no place for mistakes in 141.” You pull the patch free from your vest, glancing at it as you hold it out in front of you. Hurt bleeds into your voice. “Since you seem to think I’m a mistake, there’s no place here for me.”
Ghost’s eyes fall to the small object you hold out to him. Surprise flashes through his orbs as he flicks his eyes back up to yours. There's a silent question behind his gaze as he slowly, almost hesitantly, reaches out to grasp the patch.
Your arm falls back to your side with a small smack as you relinquish your hold. “There.” You feel the need to cry, but refuse to be seen as fragile in this moment. “Now there aren’t any mistakes in the 141.” You turn swiftly, making your way toward Price’s office. Hurt and anger still coursed through your veins, but you wouldn’t stand here and take the bullying Ghost had put you through. You were ready, without a doubt, to submit your transfer request.
~~~~~
     “Alright Vögelchen,” König’s voice was soft and playful as he spoke. “Time to get down.” He crouched low to the floor allowing you to slide off of his back with a small laugh. Training with König was always fun, revitalizing even. Without fail, halfway through your sparring sessions you’d find yourselves playing like children rather than training like soldiers. Last time it was a relentless tickle fight. This time you’d found yourself hoisted on König’s back as he ran circles around the sparring mat.
     You and König had grown close since your forced partnership six months ago. Your relationship was a bit strained at first, his anxiety clashed harshly with how defensive you were from being blamed so much. For the first two weeks you were both highly alert around each other, fearing one of you would blow up at the other over something small. It was awful and you were sure the pairing wouldn’t hold for very long.
     It wasn’t until your first real mission that you finally clicked, like two perfectly sized gears in a well oiled machine. You both moved as one being, swift and silent as you took down everyone in your way. You lurked in the shadow of your large companion, ready to jump out and strike when they least expected it. That's how you got your new callsign, Casper or Cas for short. It started off as a goofy nickname from some of the others after they’d seen you and König in action. You took it in stride and ultimately decided you didn’t want to hold onto the one that brought you so much pain and resentment. So, you traded it out for Casper.
     A sigh falls from your lips as König stands up straight, rolling his shoulders. “I know, I know.” You put on a serious face as he turns to look at you. “Time for real work, yeah?” You do your best to imitate his accent, it's oddly accurate even though you sound abhorrent. A lopsided smile graces your lips as König squints his eyes at you.
     “Very funny, little ghost.” His voice lilts with annoyed amusement, but you know beneath his hood he’s grinning right back at you. “Actually, I was going to suggest a snack break.”
     “Yeah, I could go for a snack.”
~~~~~~
“König, Casper.” A recruit, visibly out of breath, runs into the room. “Come. Urgent. “ Each word is punctuated with a gasping breath as he waves you both over.
You turn to give König a questioning look only to find him already giving you one. You shrug, jumping down from your seat on the counter. “Slow down, what’s going on?” You walk over and place a hand on his shoulder to help steady him.
“I’ve been across the whole building looking for you two.” He shakes his head, droplets of sweat flying from his hair. “Let’s walk and talk.”
You follow him out into the hall, König hot on your heels. “Why were you looking for us?”
The recruit peers over his shoulder at you. “Got a distress call, you two and a few others are being dispatched.”
König speaks up. “Do we know who the call is from?”
The recruit huffs as you all stop in front of the door to the command center. “I don’t know, not high enough ranking I guess.” He shrugs, walking away as you and push open the door.
Your palms grow sweaty, heart still racing as you listen to the recording a third time. “Does anyone copy? This is Lieutenant Ghost, Task Force 141. We’ve lost contact with the mainbase. We’re trapped, surrounded.” Gunfire can be heard in the background of the recording, making your heart sink further into your stomach. “I repeat, this is Lieutenant Ghost, does anyone copy?”
~~~~~
     Your mind races, hope and fear clashing against the inside of your skull like a tornado. Maybe Ghost hadn’t been the friendliest to you, but you still respected him. You didn’t want any harm to come to him or the rest of the team. Sure, you hated how he’d treated you, how he’d made you out to be so terrible at everything, but it was all in an effort to break you from your clumsiness. You couldn’t blame him for being angry when you’d put so many people at risk with your carelessness.
     You push the thoughts from your head as the helicopter comes to halt just shy of the projected location. The command center towers had pinged Ghost’s location about 100 kliks northwest of where you were stationed. The chopper hovers about a hundred feet above the ground, waiting for you and the others to make your descent.
     You clear your mind of all thoughts aside from the mission at hand, losing yourself and embodying the soldier you’re trained to be. You nod to König as you drop yourself down the rope, sliding carefully to the ground. You turn, raising your rifle in the direction of your objective, ready to provide cover fire for the rest as they drop down behind you. You scan the wooded terrain, searching for any movement or other signs of an oncoming attack.
     After the other five were settled on the ground König went back over the plan step by step.
     Sweep the perimeter.
     Clear outside threats.
     Infiltrate.
     Clear the building.
     Proceed with retrieval.
          The first two steps were the easiest as most of the opposition were collected inside trying to get to 141. The few you had encountered were obviously under trained and dispatched easily. Afterward you split into groups of two, each taking an entrance and beginning your sweep of the ground floor. Though you weren’t completely sure at first where they’d been trapped at, it wasn’t hard to track them. The banging and hollering from the basement allowed you and König to find them fairly easily.
     You follow close behind König as you make your way through the dimly lit halls of the basement, taking out attackers as quietly as possible. As the banging grows louder, König motions for you to move ahead of him. This was something you did often, while König wasn’t loud by any means, you were smaller, harder to spot. You maneuver yourself around him, chest pressing to his front in the narrow walkway.
     You continue down the hall towards the ruckus, König five feet behind you, ready to strike anyone who tries to lay a finger on you. Despite the space, you move together, a unit of destruction, a machine of death steaming rolling all who stood between you and your objective. A king of war and his spectral queen against the rest in a morbid dance with the reaper.
      When you reach the corridor the sounds originated from you see two of the men you’d come with locked in the heat of battle. There were at least thirty opposition fighters, all crowded in one area, none of them seeming to have noticed you or the mountain of a man behind you. You think briefly about signaling what you can see to König before remembering he can easily see it over your head. You spare a glance at him before nodding and moving in to join the chaos.
     A knife flies from your hand as another wizzes past your head, both sticking their respective targets as you continue moving forward. You pull another knife from your vest as you move behind one of the unsuspecting men. You strike out, one hand snapping his head backwards as the other swiftly runs the sharp edge of the blade through the flesh of his neck. He falls to the floor gurgling as you relinquish your hold on him.
     Moving the knife to your off hand you unholster your pistol, firing three rapid shots. One after the other, the opposition falls as blood pools on the floor around your feet. You sigh as the last of them fall and with a clearer view of the hallway you see the 141. They’d wound up barricaded in what looked to be an interrogation room, complete with bullet proof glass and a steel door.
     Soap and Gaz peer out the window at your group, accessing the scene before them as though they hadn’t watched the whole thing unfold. Price is the first to appear out of the previously barricaded doorway, followed shortly by the other three.
     König sent your other four teammates to ensure the building was empty, while you both stayed to converse with 141.
     Your heart pounds in your ears as you flit your eyes between the four men you’d just helped save. Now that the immediate danger has been dealt with your mind begins to swim with memories of Ghost ridiculing you. You're sure he doesn’t even know it’s you under the mask but it doesn’t stop you from cowering a step behind König like a child. After being treated so well by König and the others, after being guided rather than scolded, the idea of Ghost’s harsh words strikes fear through your very being.
     “Now that that’s dealt with.” Price smiles grimly as he looks between you and König.
     König hums awkwardly before speaking. “There are extra seats in the chopper. We can take you back to base and get you in contact with whoever you need.” He glances over his shoulder at you. “Casper, radio back, let them know we’ll be having company.”
     With a curt nod you take a few steps off to the side, half listening to the conversation while you relay the message back to base. You choke on your saliva when you hear Ghost pipe up.
     “You two fight well, might ask for a transfer.” His low chuckle sends shivers down your spine. “We could use a couple of well trained fighters like you.”
     You sputter and cough as you take in his words, while they weren’t meant to be, your mind took them as a threat. Your body goes rigid as you feel multiple sets of eyes on you. You don’t risk looking back, not wanting to lock eyes with anyone. You swear for a moment your soul leaves your body as a large hand comes to rest on your lower back.
     “Are you alright Cas?” König’s voice immediately soothes your previous mental afflictions. “Are you feeling ok?”
     You wave him off as you clear your throat. “Yeah, no, I’m ok. Sorry, I choked on his audacity.” You keep your voice low as you wave your hand in the general direction of Ghost. “Caught me off guard, that’s all.”
     König snorts at your comment, patting your back. “Gott, du bist dramatisch. Pull yourself together Little Ghost. The mission’s not over yet.” His hand pats the top of your helmet as he chuckles.
     “Oi!” You swat his hand away as you turn back to the group of men, all of them watch your interaction intently. “I’m not a child.”
     Gaz’s laugh catches your attention before he speaks. “Next to him you look like one.”
     “That’s one badass child.” Soap slaps Gaz’s arm as he starts laughing with him. He catches the glare you shoot his way but doesn’t stop his giggling. “Sorry, I mean, just look at the two of you.”
     “Soap.” Ghost’s warning tone puts an end to the cacophony of laughter. “For what it’s worth, you’re very skilled, you work well together.”
     Yours and König’s radios crackle to life at once. “König, Casper, how copy?”
     You give König a nod as he switches his radio off. “Solid copy, Horangi. What’s the situation?” You glance around as you wait for an answer.
     “All clear. Chopper inbound, get to the roof.”
     “Copy that.” You nod at the group around you, making your way to the staircase.
~~~~~
It was second nature at this point, when your feet hit the tarmac your mask came off. The only difference this time was the extra four sets of eyes on you. You were nothing if not a habitual, yet forgetful, person. You hadn’t even caught what you’d done at first, just acted on instinct. You could have rectified it, you had your back to all of them, ready to head in for a shower and wash yourself of the whole situation. But König, the sweet man that he was, called out for you and without a second thought, like a moth to a flame, you whipped yourself around to look at him.
“Casper, good work today.” König’s eyes shone bright in the early evening sun, a smile dancing in the corners where they creased.
You can’t help but smile at how sweet König was. He’d done this after every mission and it never got old. He was always complimenting you and encouraging you to do better. Your heart swells at the sight of the man giving you a goofy thumbs up. Something about him made you feel more confident, less scared of the reactions of your old team. “As did you König.” You find yourself returning the silly gesture, a wide grin forming on your lips.
Ghost’s confused voice breaks the happy moment. “Slip?” His eyes are wider than usual. Stone cold eyes gone, replaced with something akin to astonishment as he stares at you.
Slip. Four letters, one word, one syllable. It had been stuck to you throughout your whole career, from week two of training up until you had gained your new one. The name stemmed from how often you’d fallen during basic training. Your feet never seemed to want to cooperate with you, constantly sending you tumbling to the ground. A problem you’d only recently rectified with the help of König. Being as large as he is, balance doesn’t come easily to him either.
You breathe deep, lungs filling to the point of bursting before you exhale, blowing all of the tension out with it. With a solemn shake of your head you bring your eyes to meet Ghost’s. “No,” Your voice is calmer than you expected it to be, tranquil. “Not anymore.” You’ve grown too much in the last six months to go back to bickering with these men. “Perhaps it’s time for a reintroduction.”
You hold your head high, walking back to them, standing toe-to-toe with Ghost. You glance at König who stares at you in awe. Only five months ago you’d confessed your fear of ridicule, explained to him how you’d been a verbal punching bag for Ghost. You’d cried to him about all of the things Ghost had said to you, spilled your guts about the bullying that had led you to your breaking point. He’d held you while you cried, wiped your tears when you’d finished and made you a cup of tea while he told you how proud he was that you stuck through it all. You’d known him for only a month and he treated you a million times better than people you’d worked with for years.
It dawns on you then, you love König, more than just as a partner. You’d fallen for the anxiety ridden, gentle giant that you’d been forced to partner with. You only hoped he’d feel the same after helping you be reborn, helping you become the soldier you’d always wanted to be.
“I am Casper, I am an operative under KorTac.” You glance between all of the men around you, finding them all fully concentrated on you as you continue. “I work in tandem with my partner König to complete every task handed to me to the best of my abilities.” A smile graces your lips as you finish, holding your hand out to Ghost who looks absolutely dumbfounded. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Okay, so I've been scouring your blog these past few days, and ughh, it feels so good to find someone who actually seems to understand who Dick is! His eldest daughter complex is something I relate to so much, and was the thing that really drew me in. A lot of people look at the mediation and emotional weight lifting, (and those are huge parts of it, don't get me wrong,) but something else I find very eldest child is the way his own relationship with Bruce has continued to take hits all so Bruce can have better relationships with the others. Like when you're the oldest your parents make so many more mistakes with you. I also can't help but feel like it's got to be so hard as Dick to look at the way Bruce is with Tim/Dami/Cass, and wish that he could have that kind of relationship with his Dad. They want to be jealous of the trust, think he's the golden child, and yet at the same time, he's wishing he had something more resembling the true parent/child relationship the others got. (Idk maybe I'm projecting, but oh lord I go absolutely feral for eldest daughter Dick, it just hurts so good)
og post in reference
Yes! I'm so glad you brought that up!!
In terms of parenting, and why I don't really write about Bruce being a parent to Dick, is because Dick is kinda a guinea pig, as my engineering teacher put it once.
He was the Bruce's first for everything. First friend, first partner, first son - he just took responsibility for all roles. It makes things even worse because Bruce at the time he took in Dick, he had only been Batman for three years. Three. And he was literally drowning under the weight of the mask until he found Dick. There's a reason why Dick is Bruce's is right hand man and that's because Dick's been with him through everything. When Bruce was struggling and almost giving into his obsession, Dick was there to pull him out of it.
He quite literally mothered Bruce through his feelings, asking if everything was okay, what's wrong, watching him constantly and guaging his mood. This is exhausting work because Dick's mind was always on Bruce's mental state, much like a mother worried constantly about her teenage daughter or a father about his son.
That adoption scene where Dick asks Bruce, "why didn't you adopt me?" That's the realization of eldest daughter syndrome brought up.
Up until then, Dick was completely fine with being the caretaker for Bruce and lifting him up. He parented Bruce for so long and so smoothly, neither fully realized how much Dick was doing for him until he left. When Bruce adopts Jason, that's when Dick realizes there's something wrong with their dynamic.
I don't know if at that time Dick really wanted to be adopted or if he felt neglected because that he's wasn't while another was. But one thing he feels isn't jealousy, he's very clear on that, but Dick feels hurt.
Was there something he did wrong that caused Bruce to do that? What he do differently? What could he have done better? These types of questions constantly cloud his brain because he's gotten so used to taken care of his guardian for two decades now that he must feel hurt on some level even if he never expresses. He wouldn't begrudge his siblings because he feels happy Bruce isn't making the same mistakes to them that he did with Dick but at the same time, it's just exhausting for him.
Bruce might have improved but he isn't the best, so now he's busy taking care of both his brothers and sisters and his father. He also has to take care of his friends too.
He has the weight of the world on his shoulders but the worst part for him isn't the actual the weight - it's the realization that he's holding the weight. Because before he could live on in ignorance and bliss that Bruce was always going to be this way, and taking care of him would naturally just be Dick's job. He's so used to it, he's been doing it since he was eight.
But now, he knows what he's doing, he knows he's not supposed to, but he must. Because they rely on him, but also because that's what Bruce made him into. And I think that hurts the most for him.
He'll feel conflicted about it because on one hand, he loves Bruce. He loves him so much, he'll do anything for him. But also what about all those missed opportunities? Could he have been something different? Maybe he could've hung out with the Titans more if he didn't have to deal with bruce constantly demanding his presence. Maybe he could've joined a new class he never thought he would try.
Dick doesn't regret what he did and if he could go back in time, he would do it all over again but...he probably feels melancholic again. To love a parent so much you sacrifice your happiness over and over again so they can be happy while you're forced to grow up early. Dick's personality itself just lends itself to helping others but constantly taking care of your parent?
He's happy but he feels helpless and sad so he stays silent about it all.
It's said that Eldest Daughter Syndrome can make women feel overburdened, stressed out, and constantly responsible for others.
More signs include having a strong sense of responsibility (leading the batfam and hero teams), feeling a need for control (him fighting for his independence against Bruce and fighting to take care of his own teams), carrying the heavy weight of parents' expectations (his entire monologue in Nightwing 1996 about his feelings towards Bruce), perfectionism (Roy grouching about Dick's perfectionist tendencies to Kori in Outsiders and Roy yelling at Batman for it in Batman Plus), struggling with same-age relationships (dating older), and feeling resentment towards family (his outsiders era was him just resenting Bruce in the beginning).
He's been parenting Bruce for so long he was forced to grow up prematurely. I mentioned in my compartmentalization post when Dick's parents have literally just died. And he's forcing himself to act happy because he doesn't want Bruce to feel guilty and upset about not catching their murderer yet. That's not a responsibility a child should have - pretending everything is fine so as not to worry their family. That's the role of a parent. He's taking parenting his own parent because his actual one is incapable of doing so.
But Bruce's greatest fear is that by taking in Dick, he deprived Dick of opportunities to shine. To live in the limelight. And Dick knows everything about Bruce, so he knows Bruce's worst fears. And for this reason, out of the love that he has in his heart, Dick will never tell Bruce if he's hurt him because this is directly connected to his worst fear.
And that hurts. Because vocally releasing anger and sorrow is cathartic but to have it build up silently inside and letting it sink beneath the waves each time is painful.

Y/n is sitting at the desk inside the garage. It was a fairly quiet day and Leff was sitting in the office with his feet on the desk, talking on the phone to someone making new import deals. Sicky came busting through the door so hard, it hit the wall.
"I've fucking had it! I'm done babysitting this kid. He's been complaining nonstop all fucking day and I'm going to kill him." Sicky threw his hands up and Mike came in behind him shaking his head.
"Did you do all the drop offs?" Y/n looked at her watch and Sicky growled.
"No because princess over here has to stop every ten minutes to piss or get cigarettes or jerk off." Sicky looked back at him.
"I had to piss twice and it's not my fault these places are smoke free. This is fucking New York. That's stupid." Mike argued.
"I can't handle it Y/n. You take over or I'm going to skin the kid." Sicky lowered his voice so only Y/n could hear him knowing that threatening Leff's blood loud enough for him to hear would always be a no no. She stood up from the desk and chuckled.
"You remember this the next time I have to do a shipment at the bar." Y/n put a gun in her ankle holster and grabbed her jacket off the hook.
"Come on loverboy." Y/n grabbed the collar of Mike's leather jacket and he gave Sicky the finger.
"Do you care if I smoke in your car?" Mike asked hopeful.
"You can smoke in my car but to answer your question earlier, you can't smoke at client's establishments unless they offer you a smoke. It's disrespectful. These are business partners and when we enter their home turf, they have the advantage. We must show respect to keep business relations on the up and up." Y/n explained as Mike lit his cigarette.
"I fucking hate this job. Honestly, I almost wish Leff would have left me to figure my own shit out. At least that way I wouldn't be stuck being his little bitch delivery boy." He blew smoke out of the cracked window.
"What would you rather be doing?" Y/n asked honestly and Mike looked over at her to see if she was being serious.
"If I tell you, you can't laugh." Mike said making Y/n smile.
"If you say male stripper or rancher, I'm going to laugh." She warned making him chuckle.
"I want to be a musician. Start a band and get the hell out of here. The music scene in New York is dead unless you're a rapper or making a techno pop set in someone's basement rave." Mike explained.
"Musician? Do you play an instrument or are you a singer?" She asked. Mike could see she was genuinely interested in his answers and he tried to hide his blush.
"I play guitar but I definitely would need a singer. I'm not much of a vocalist." Mike took another puff from his cigarette and ashed it out the window.
"Well you could absolutely find a singer in New York but you'll want to go South if you want to get any sort of band off the ground. Everyone knows Texas is where aspiring musicians go." Y/n pulled up to a stop light and looked at him.
"What's your sound? Despite the cowboy look, the leather daddy that accompanies it gives hard rock or grungey alternative." Mike had to laugh out loud.
"Did you just call me a leather daddy?" He asked furrowing his brows.
"Shut up, don't act like you don't love when I give you pet names." She teased from behind the steering wheel. He noticed something he hadn't really noticed before. She had a tattoo on her neck behind her ear. When she smiled wide, he could see a little black rose etched into the skin.
"If only you would take me up on my offer to use them with less clothing and more privacy." Mike flirted making her shake her head at him, putting her hand out to take his cigarette and take a puff. He watched her suck the smoke into her mouth, let it out of her nose and back out again.
Every thing she did turned him on in the weirdest way.
"Get some furniture first and we'll revisit naked hangouts." She teased. Mike took that as a promise and motivation to get a couch.
"How do you know so much about the music scene in Texas?" Mike asked curiously.
"I used to work at a night club. A lot of guys would come through and tell me their life stories and dreams of making it big but what they don't realize is New York is more for performing arts. Classical musicians and acting are on the rise but places like Austin are where all the big music producers pick and choose people to throw together to make an album. Plus the food is superior." Mike kept his eyes on her.
"The night club...were you a-"
"Yes Mike, I used to be a dancer so if you have any stripper jokes, keep in mind that I'm currently behind the wheel and you aren't wearing a seat belt." She glanced over at him.
"I mean we're literally pushing drugs and weapons. I don't think being a stripper is some sort of classless gig. We're clearly doing a lot worse." He shook the duffel bag.
"You aren't wrong." Y/n pulled up to the drop location and put the car in park.
"Besides, Sicky said you own a bar now so that's cool." Mike added making her grin at him.
"You're talking to Sicky about me huh?" She teases and he rolls his eyes.
"Shut up." He finished off his cigarette before getting out of the car and when Y/n handed him the duffel she held onto it.
"Hey, this shit is only as temporary as you want it to be. You want out, you have to find something that will get you out and keep you straight. All Leff needs is reassurance that you'll be able to take care of yourself. That's all he wants." She said sincerely.
"I'll keep that in mind while I'm peddling this cocaine to a biker gang." Mike said making Y/n scrunch her nose.
"Sicky's right, you're being a princess." Y/n teased making Mike take the bag from her and give her a mocking middle finger. She smiled giving him one back and watched his back as he knocked on the door. She moved her gun from her ankle holster to her lap and watched him carefully.
He didn't know it but Y/n was already willing to kill for him if she had to.

Perfect victim Sand
(Except he’s not)
Sand is a quite interesting case to study. There are a lot of things to love about him and trust me I do. But. He is the closest thing we have in this show to the perfect victim idea. I mean, even Force jokes about it (god I love this man).
The thing is, I have a strong feeling that huge part of the fandom literally adopted him. Like you know, compensating him absent mommy and daddy. His mother is great woman, she’s loving and caring, but she is far from an actual parental figure - @emotionallychargedtowel made a great analysis on that topic and how it clearly influenced Sand.
Maybe that’s something about Sand being genuinely loving and caring character himself. Maybe it’s because we spend 5 episodes with him being absolutely adequate and not minding others business and by the moment of episode 6 the idea of Sand was already formed. Maybe it’s about Ray pulling Sand through a lot of shit. Maybe it’s something about First’s babygirl vibes, amazing microexpressions and his big boba eyes that easily penetrates the soul. Maybe it’s all the above and more.
But Sand gets the most I’ll protect him by all cost vibes (I get it, I want to protect him too, he’s my sad stupid baby, how can I not). And while it’s understandable to some degree, it doesn’t mean Sand is a victim in every situation he himself, series or fandom try to apply on him.
And yes, it’s specifically about Sand and Top beef. While we don’t know the full story yet, we know the basis: Sand had a lover, this lover cheated on him with Top. Right? Except that in Sand’s mind this story looks a bit different.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not once, but twice Sand claims that Top “stole his lover”. And I’m sorry to bring it to you, my precious sad baby with big beautiful eyes, but your lover is a human being. They’re not a car, or watch, or a cow. They are a person. And as a person they make decisions.
Unless we’ll find out that Top literally put a bag on their head and dragged them away into his basement, Top didn’t stole anyone. This person cheated on you. It sucks, I get it (Mew probably gets it even better than me). It hurts a lot. It’s absolutely not Sand’s fault. But it’s not Top’s fault either.
Yes, hitting on someone’s lover is a douche move (if Top knew about Sand and didn’t care and I wouldn’t surprised but we don’t know for sure). Yes, Top is an arrogant jerk who behaves like a toxic bitch with anyone except for Mew. Yes, in that hospital scene I kind of wanted to punch him in his hot smug face.
Tumblr media
But Sand’s lover cheating is not his responsibility.
And Sand’s choice of actions is stealing and spreading fucking revenge porn. Where is not only Top he hates so much but also Boston who did to Sand what? Made an ugly scene on his birthday and ruined his whatever it was with Ray? Bitchy behavior 100%, but not on, you know, illegally recorded sex tape level.
He regrets it later, but two people he apologized to - rightfully so - are Ray and Nick. Not, you know, Boston for example.
I mean, how the thing Sand did with Top is different from the thing Mew did with Boston? In details - yes. In motivation and general action - the same shit.
And I know that the majority of saving Sand agenda is directed towards his relationship with Ray. I get it. I feel it (I have a very complicated mix of very complex feelings about that one but I digress). But I do feel that Sand isn’t criticized enough for his actions towards Top (and Boston).
Compare it with the amount of criticism towards:
1. Nick recording and using TopBoston footage;
2. Boston recording and using RayMew footage;
3. Mew stealing and using Boston footage;
The only person I doubt here to criticize hard is Ray cause while he got and resend this fucking sex tape and I do think it was wrong I kind of understand his situation. I mean he did receive it passively not actively and I doubt Mew believed him without proof. It still sucks from his side to use it and I don’t forgetting him but he was kind of a tool not a participant so yeah.
All of them are clearly wrong and deserve discussion about their behavior and all the critique they get. But so as Sand. The thing is, Sand is not a victim of Top.
Tumblr media
Top is a victim of Sand.
Tumblr media
And it’s absolutely not about Top being good or bad or Sand being good or bad it’s really about humans being complex and depending on that specific situation. It’s always about complexity and context.
Sand is, if generalizing, a good person. But he also selfish by some degree and categorical and has some deep trauma over his ex lover. And he does fucked up stuff.
That’s why I found Sand’s attitude towards Mew especially interesting. With MewTop situation he probably didn’t really care but at some level had a sense of justice. In his eyes, Mew is as victim of Top as he was. So Mew deserves to know the truth.
Tumblr media
But with MewRay? And that’s where the fun (and also clear speculations) begins. Sand doesn’t have a beef towards Mew about Ray loving him and prioritizing him over Sand, at least for now. Maybe because he learned something through his last relationship, but with his behavior towards Top I doubt it. It’s probably partially because Ray is technically not his lover or boyfriend or monogamous partner - he doesn’t owe Sand anything and while he’s angry and sad he understands that.
But it may also be about the Mew technically being there first. You know, how Sand was with his lover until Top appeared. Ray loved Mew way before he even knew Sand exists. It’s actually Sand in this analogy who takes Ray away from Mew (not that he knew about it or Mew cared but you get my point). So Sand doesn’t blame Mew for being with Ray. He probably - understandably so - blames Ray for playing with his feelings and also blames himself for falling into it.
And now here is a part when I just speculate about cool plot line we’d probably never get so feel free to stop reading now. Like for real. So Sand is fine with Mew and, honestly, good for him. My question is: if Sand will buy this RayMew relationship thing. And then Ray gets back to him. Will he resist temptation?
We have a small chance that Sand will get some self respect and won’t take Ray back immediately, of course. But in a case of Mew. If Sand is stupid enough to believe there is something happening between Ray and Mew from Mew’s side, will he stay away cause of respect towards Mew and their relationship? Or will he “play Top card” and - how was it? - steal Ray to himself?
Cause oh my lord he wants Ray for himself. He can agree with Nick and his “I don’t want be his first and only it’s enough to be with him” as much as he wants but we all know that even Nick doesn’t really think so. Sand probably also doesn’t want to deal with Ray at all by that point but totally opposite desires can coexist.
It would be really interesting to watch his internal conflict about being better person but still losing to his desire plays out but I really doubt Mew and Ray will last long enough to us see it.

Prompt - Please stay
When Harry walked into the pub, of course he noticed that platinum blond head of hair immediately. Of course his eyes were naturally drawn to the tall, lean, pale figure sitting at the bar.
And of course it hurt to see him again. It had been less than two months since they ended their year-old relationship. They'd fought frequently as a couple but that last fight was different. They'd yelled and screamed so much Harry lost his voice. They'd hurled insults at each other that hit hard and cut deep. Draco stormed out during arguments all the time, but he always came back. Harry waited over a week and Draco never came back, never reached out, never responded to Harry's owls, texts, calls, or Floos.
Harry's breath caught in his throat at the sight of Draco sitting at the bar with another man—who was leaning in way too close in Harry's opinion. His gait faltered but he quickly recovered, tearing his eyes away from the painful scene and refocusing on his coworkers.
They'd had an absolutely grueling day in the field so when one of the Aurors on Harry's team said drinks were on him, no one turned down the offer. A couple of hours after they arrived, they practically took up the entire back end of the pub, spread across multiple tables. A group of four played a game of darts while two others drunkenly argued over a game of chess. Some had formed a crowd around the telly to shout about the Quidditch match. No one seemed to mind; in fact, aside from them not many people were there at all.
"Harry. . . Harry. . . Auror Potter. . . Harry Potter!" Auror Kane snapped his fingers in Harry's face. "Do you want another," he asked when he finally had Harry's attention.
"Huh?" Harry hadn't even finished his first glass while most of his coworkers were working on their third or fourth. "Oh, no, I'm alright." Harry was sitting at a table with five other Aurors but he wasn't paying attention to them at all. He didn't have the energy to try to engage in conversation with them. He didn't pretend to try like he normally did when he was around people. He was too busy recovering from the shit show of a day he'd had. . . And staring at Draco and the guy he was with.
Draco was clearly inebriated, swaying slightly on his barstool and getting more handsy with the other man as the night went on. It concerned Harry because Draco didn't like being drunk in public. He didn't like being anything but clearheaded when he wasn't in the comfort of his own home or a close friend's.
It made something uneasy settle in Harry's gut and he had a feeling he might want to stay sober so he approached the bar to order himself a water. He made sure to stay a few feet away and on the side behind Draco, hoping to avoid being seen. He wasn't far enough to avoid hearing their conversation.
"What will it take to get you to come home with me?" Harry didn't mean to eavesdrop. Those words from whoever that stranger was just caught his attention.
"Like, three more drinks," Draco slurred. That was the last thing he needed, in Harry's opinion.
"We can make that happen, but why don't we continue drinking at my place where we can get more comfortable, hmm?" He trailed his finger along the inside of Draco's exposed wrist, up his arm, and stopping at his elbow to continue from his chest to his throat.
Draco nodded. "As long as I'm too pissed to remember this tomorrow." He giggled and swayed on his stool, taking another long gulp of whatever he was drinking.
The man laughed at that and it set Harry off. This man was very clearly sober enough to realize he was taking advantage of Draco, but Harry wasn't going to allow that.
He walked over to the two men, fueled by his own anger, and left his water behind on the bar. "I think it's time for you to go," he warned the other man, stepping in the small space between them with his back to Draco.
The prick just smiled at Harry. "Thats exactly what we were intending to do. Isn't that right, Draco?"
Harry spared a glance at Draco to find that he suddenly seemed very tired. Up close Harry could see the bags under his eyes and the worry in his eyes, things someone who didn't know him so well would've missed entirely. "Potter, what're you doing?" Draco pinched the bridge of his nose.
Things seemed to connect in asshole's brain and realization showed in his wide-eyed expression. "Potter? Harry Potter? You're . . . Oh ."
Harry ignored him, instead answering Draco's question, still glaring at the now-nervous stranger. "Keeping this prick from taking advantage of you."
"I didn't ask for your help! You weren't even supposed to be here. Would you just leave? I can handle myself." His words were so slurred Harry knew he wasn't in any state to make decisions.
Harry finally turned around. "I'm not going to let you do something you'll regret tomorrow, if you even remember it." He crossed his arms over his chest.
"The goal is not to," he mumbled to himself. "I'm an adult. If I want to go home with him I can, and I do so I will." He tilted his glass back and finished its contents. "Now if you'll excuse me." He pushed past Harry to drag the other man away by the arm, stumbling as he did so. The asshole allowed himself to be pulled away with a sly smirk.
Harry followed them, catching up with a couple quick strides. "Draco, no." He grabbed Draco's arm just above the elbow and pulled him back.
He whirled around to face Harry and paled, looking as if he was about to be sick, but he didn't pause. "What is your problem?" Draco yelled, drawing attention to the three men. Luckily, it was getting late and the bar was nearly empty. Harry noticed then that his coworkers had all left at some point.
"What is your problem?" Harry shot back. "You're getting drunk in public, going home with a stranger. Why are you being so reckless?"
Draco scoffed. "Don't act like you care, Pot—" Draco cut off suddenly and Accio'd a trash bin, puking as soon as it got to him.
"I'm going to go. Draco, you have my number. Call me if you'd like to meet up again, yes?" The other man began to retreat.
"No, don't go," Draco protested, but it was useless because he threw up again as soon as he said it. "See what you did? You ruined my night!" He said once the prick left.
"Yes, because that was all me. I'm sure it had nothing to do with your getting sick." Harry rolled his eyes, his voice dripping in sarcasm.
Deciding he wasn't going to be sick anymore, Draco walked to the pub's exit. "Just go home, Potter. You've done enough for one night."
Harry placed extra galleons on the bar as an apology, then followed Draco. "Oh, no. I'm not going anywhere until I get you home safe. You're in no state to be Apparating yourself." Harry pulled his wand and stepped close to Draco.
"I can Apparate myself home. I'm not that pissed." That was a lie.
Instead of arguing, Harry just wrapped an arm around Draco's waist and Apparated them back to Draco's flat. The moment they arrived, Draco scurried to the bathroom to puke again.
Harry followed him. He opened the cabinet behind the mirror where he knew Draco kept most of his potions. He pulled out some Sober-Up and then wet a towel with warm water. "Here, drink this." He handed Draco—who was seated on the floor in front of the toilet— the Sober-Up.
"Thanks," the blond mumbled, downing the potion in one gulp. He made a sour face at the taste and Harry offered him a cup of water he'd summoned from the kitchen. He sipped at it and then placed it on the counter.
Harry handed him the damp towel to wipe his face, then sat in the floor with Draco with his eyes closed, saying nothing. He wasn't sure how long they sat like that before he broke their heavy silence. "Do you want to tell me what that was about?" He looked at Draco then.
Draco cast his gaze downward and shrugged one shoulder. "I dunno," he murmured.
There was another pause before Harry sighed. "Do you want me to just leave?" Draco had been the one to walk out on him after all. He probably didn't want to see Harry.
"No!" Draco blurted, too loud for the small space. He took a breath and tried again. "I mean, no, I —" Harry noticed tears start to form in Draco's eyes so he moved closer, concerned. Draco allowed Harry to pull him into a hug. "I just can't believe she's gone," he whispered.
"What? Who's gone?" Harry's blood ran cold. He hadn't heard about any deaths recently, but that could be why his friends had prevented him from reading the papers.
Draco sniffled and pulled away from Harry, wiping at the tears that had escaped. "You really don't know?"
Harry shook his head, confused and concerned.
"My mother, she . . ." Draco broke off, unable to say it.
"Oh Merlin, Draco, I had no clue." He knew Narcissa hadn't been well, but he hadn't heard this terrible news. There was no way he'd have been willing to give Draco space if he knew he was suffering. Then it made sense why his friends wouldn't want him to know. He pulled Draco back into his chest. "I'm so sorry."
"I just . . . didn't want to be alone, didn't want to be stuck with my thoughts. I needed a distraction."
Harry could feel Draco's tears wetting his shirt, but he didn't mind. "Hey, it's alright," Harry tried to soothe him. "You're not alone. I'm right here."
Draco sobbed, his whole body shaking as he let himself fall apart in Harry's arms. He adjusted their position so he was sitting between Harry's legs, crying into his chest, his arms wrapped around Harry's neck.
Harry didn't know what to do so he just held him there, rubbing his back gently. "I've got you. It's ok." Minutes went by like this, with Harry just holding Draco and reassuring him that he wasn't alone.
Draco finally calmed down— seeming to be out of tears for the time being—but they stayed in that position on the floor. "Harry?" He said eventually. His voice was small and it broke on the name.
Harry's heart did a flip in his chest—that he pretended not to feel—at hearing Draco call him by his first name. His own heartbreak was not as important as Draco right now. "Yes, love?" The term of endearment was a habit and Harry cursed himself for using it then.
But Draco either didn't notice or didn't mind. "Please, stay with me?" Harry could hear the hope and need in his voice. There was no way he could say no. There was no way he'd ever want to say no to this man.
Harry nodded and squeezed him tighter. "Of course. As long as you need me."

Blood.
The first thing to trick your senses.
The moment you caught a whiff of what could only be described as the scent of evil incarnate, you wished it had been something else entirely. Then a sense of fear and urgency slithered in, whispering in your ear, "Wake up! You are in danger."
Those whispers turned into a song full of screeching and loud noises, filling your body with heart-wrenching panic. Coldness and ropes. You were lying on a stone floor with your hands and legs tethered. Your adrenaline spiked, and you barely had enough guts to keep silent.
Cracking open your crusted eyes, you found yourself in complete darkness. It took a second to process that a blindfold was strapped around your head. As the tight knot pressed against your skull, you felt a brand-new dizziness blossoming on your forehead.
Slowly, the blissful numbness of your awakening crumbled, leaving you with a chilling sensation akin to unexpected snow. You lost your breath when all-consuming pain was followed by an absolute agony engulfing your body.
God! Is this what it feels like to be alive?
Cause it couldn't be death. If it were, you'd be at peace. Although you left the house without bodyguards or your father's permission, you'd be damned if you didn't land a spot within heaven's gates. There was no way you deserved this crap.
Racking your brain, you tried to think past the pain and remember what the fuck happened to you. Vaguely, you recalled leaving a convenience store with shopping bags in hand and walking toward the parking lot. And now you were here… wherever that was. But not somewhere safe.
Christ! What were you thinking? Why you had to disobey your father, you pig-head? Ah! Is this some stupid joke, or were you kidnapped for money? Huh! Maybe you should let them know he won't even pay a penny for your ass! Or wait! Was this a retaliation for some shady business he was involved in again?
Another wave of panic crashed through you as you considered this possibility. Scenarios curtailed and evolved until you were a mass of anxiety and desperation. You could be in serious trouble.
Fuck—you were in serious trouble, and you had no idea how the fuck you were going to get out of it.
Breathing more heavily, your heart slammed so hard against your chest that it physically hurt. So, your last bit of strength went into keeping silent with the buzzing in your ear.
Where the fuck were you?
Quiet, dull voices followed, muffled by the noise in your head but steadily growing louder. Hearing their talks was hard as you strained your ears, trying to distinguish the words over the terror and pain swelling in your body.
"His maniac brother will be looking for her," a man said quietly. "But we should be fine. Master ordered us to take her before his brother. Once he shows up, Vash-sama can't get us anymore."
A particular memory knocked you over the head, flashes of getting hit on the head and being dragged on the ground bit through your skin. Well, thank you very much! This explained why the fuck your back was on fire.
There was no joking. You'd been fucking kidnapped— no shit, Sherlock!
And it must have been some Mafia's doing since no one else would dare touch Gasback's daughter. Golly! Probably that's why your father warned you to give up your shitty sneaking out habit, and you had to be proven how dumb you were. It was your curse. You had to be the rebellious child just to show resentment toward him for leaving your mother on the deathbed to fuck around with chicks and whores. In your determination to go against his wishes, following his rules wasn't even a consideration. If you weren't this stubborn, not only could you have avoided all of this shit, but you also wouldn't have blood sticking all over your face.
Stupid girl!
Your eyes swelled shut as a sob rose to your throat. A tear slipped through your lashes, and your chest shook with exertion, trying not to break down. This was your own damn fault. You walked right into the trap despite the warnings.
"You actually think we'll be able to hide from him? He's a nutcase, man," another man responded, this one with a slightly strange accent.
"All we're doing is following Master's orders. Which one are you more afraid of? Knives or Vash?"
What the fuck? Who was this Master? What the fuck was going on? Why were they afraid of those Knives or Vash dudes?
You didn't know how you got into this fucked-up situation, but you needed your father to get you out of it. But only this time, though. Because you didn't belong here, you weren't meant to be enslaved.
"I'd prefer not to fucking choose," the second man muttered. As if reassuring someone, it sounded like a hand slapping a shoulder.
"Too bad you don't have a choice, Rei-Dei. Doesn't matter. This girl right here is worth millions. She's his daughter! You know how many enemies he has? People will be frothing at the mouth to make his girl their little toy. We'll get our cut from Knives, and we'll be living fucking lavishly." He let out a burst of hyenalike laughter. "Once the money goes through, I'll have a brothel full of juicy pussies!"
Anger flooded your veins at the man's callous words, assuming women as walking holes.
"You should walk out of this dungeon alive at first, Caine," the second man— Rei-Dei— responded.
His name sounded familiar, and you thought you faintly remembered someone yelling his name after they took you.
"Don't worry, man. We'll get a head start after delivering her to the Master. He'll protect us."
A derisive snort was the only response the first man got.
Bloody hell! You really were in deep shit. Your eyes brimmed with tears, and no amount of convincing could keep them from overflowing. A sob still clawed its way up your throat, threatening to spill, but somehow, you managed to wrangle it down.
It took you a few moments to gather your thoughts. With the blindfold on, you didn't know whether they could see you. A single wrong movement could alert them. You took deep, silent breaths to calm yourself, but suddenly someone touched your thigh, and you couldn't keep the yelp from slipping free.
"Greetings from the land of the living, sweetheart," one of the men crooned. It was the first guy who was after pussies.
Your body trembled uncontrollably in horror and hatred as you flinched away from the hand. Your heart was racing, but you refused to let your fear win and summoned all your courage. In a situation like this, you were powerless to see or fight back against this person. It was a terrifying predicament that could quickly turn out badly if you weren't careful. You had no option as letting yourself get paralyzed. This threat had to be faced head-on. "Where are we?" You asked, your voice raspy and hoarse. How long were you here?
It took a while for the answer to come as if the person was analyzing your newfound bravery. "In your new home," he replied, chuckling as if you were a dog adopted by a loving family. "You'll love it here."
With a constant sense of anxiety, cold, and this baneful presence of danger, you couldn't help but feel vulnerable and exposed. You heard your teeth chattering, and their laughter drowned out the sound.
Fucking assholes!
The way you were shivering, if there hadn't been any contortion or levitation, it would have looked like you were in the middle of an exorcism. Maybe you really were. Each tremble intensified the pain, and everything hurt so badly. God! There had never been a time in your fucking life when you felt more miserable.
"Don't worry, princess. Your owner will be almost here," Rei-Dei talked, his voice grinding against your already frayed nerves. "Vash-sama is going to love you." The ominous tone in his voice tensed your body further. Something about the way he said it made you feel like you had more to fear from this Vash than any man who came your way.
"W-who is he?"
The whole room was quiet for a moment, allowing the sound of water dripping on the hard ground to reach your ears, but then Caine spoke, "The one person you want to impress the most," he said, his voice grave. There was something he was afraid of about that man. If this fucker was scared of him, what was waiting for you? "Because he will determine just how miserable your life will be until the end."
The sound of his footsteps walking away from you made you squeeze your eyes shut in relief. God dammit! Even though you hadn't been here that much, you already felt defeated. Inhale deeply and exhale slowly and steadily.
Despite feeling uneasy with every question you asked, you had to gather whatever you could before facing this monster. "Wh-why he wants me?"
"It doesn't matter why. Now shut up! I need to take a leak. If you keep talking, I'll undo my pants and paint a picture on your pretty face."
It took the disgusting threat to snap you out of your trance. Anyhow, ending the conversation was best. Although you had never been good with your mouth, you didn't want to risk your life in a place where rabid men roamed. So, you kept silent even as he walked around you. "Keep quiet like this, or you'll be surprised at how many cocks will fit in your mouth."
Your eyes rounded under the blindfold, and your teeth snapped shut. From the audible click, the man chuckled. Swallowing nervously, your heart started thumping too loud in your ears, making everything fuzzy enough that you didn't hear when someone grabbed your arm, and before you could open your mouth to scream, you felt a prick in your arm, followed by a burning sensation spreading throughout your veins. You sucked in a sharp breath. And it happened to be the last breath you took before darkness descended.
Tumblr media
"Master's already deposited the check, so we can do whatever the fuck we want."
You stirred; the familiar voice distorted beneath the ringing in your ears. The roughness of his tone felt like scratching nails on a chalkboard. You had awoken to that damn voice too many times now, and each time was a stark reminder that you had been sucked into a nightmare and hadn't yet found a way out.
Your body was wracked and battered with agony. It felt like you were drowning, trying to reach the surface, but not succeeding because you knew the pain would only worsen. Flames were licking your nerve endings, and the closer you got to consciousness, the brighter the flares became. You were still tied in a seated position, helpless like a hunt. Right now the coldness of the wall against your back was the least of your concerns. A small prick was felt in your arm, followed by faint voices from all sides.
"Fucking idiot," Rei-Dei muttered under his breath. Then louder, he reminded him, "No, you can't do whatever you want! Because even if you survive Vash-sama, you'll have a big fucking target on your head in the shape of Gasback."
Did you hear your father's name?
Caine started talking, unconcerned, "You worry too much, Rei. We'll hide until he gets his revenge, and then, we can do whatever we want."
What revenge?
You shrank and instinctively wanted to wrap your arms around yourself, but they were still tied behind your back. It looked like they noticed you again since the room filled with elicited grunts of amusement.
"Aw, don't be shy, baby girl. We have all this money because of —"
Whatever the man was going to say was cut off by the door opening, and the entire room instantly went still. Everything went quiet like the air in the deadly space had been suddenly sucked out. The silence around here wasn't one vacancy, but rather of them holding their breath, praying for the person entering the room to show mercy.
Despite your best effort, you could only hear heavy footsteps approaching. Though you didn't know who would show up or what they would do, you knew this wasn't someone to be trifled with.
"This the girl?" the new man called out. Under the surface of his voice, you could detect no remorse or kindness, only icy coldness and an overwhelming sense of malice.
Like a bitch wagging its tail, Caine answered amusingly, "Yes, Master."
So, this was the Master they were talking about. You were kidnapped by this lunatic before another one. What an honor! The devils were vying to get you first.
"Who did this to her?" he demanded, his tone ruthless. He was no human; you had already decided. He was just a soul-sucking being without grace or compassion, only interested in fulfilling his own desires. "Her face is all damaged." His voice faded before cutting back in, a harsh shriek that sent shivers up your spine. "I prefer to bruise the apple myself, DON'T YOU KNOW?"
There was no need to be an expert to realize that no one liked eating bruised apples. Naturally, he wanted a nice, shiny apple to sink his teeth into and rip apart himself. Piece by piece.
"She looks fine," another answered, his voice all concerned. Rei-Dei's companion, you thought. It was apparent they had screwed up. A pathetic pang filled your heart at the thought of these fuckers being punished for damaging you.
"Fine? You call this fine?" The sharp snap of a slap hitting someone startled you. It was a brutal blow, and you could feel the shock even from where you were kept.
"You think I can gift something like this to my lil brother?" When he'd met with silence, a muttered "Thought so" followed.
Then, as if your worst fear had decided to come true, his presence gradually grew nearer to you. "You're quite a sneaky little bug, aren't you?"
Realizing he stood before you, you tried to steel yourself against panic. Nausea tickled your consciousness, threatening to pull you back down. You let out a sharp breath as probing, lifeless fingers slid down your blindfold and pried your eyelids open. Flickering light tortured you to the point you tried to shut them off, but he wouldn't allow it.
"You won't close them until I allow you to; otherwise, I'll tear out one by your choice." He smiled. Seeing the twisted delight on his face, it was a sickening sight. Your chin was held up, his face crowding over yours. Although the image was still blurry, you could see his light blond hair, eyebrows, pale blue eyes, and a mole under the right one. You parted your lips, but your tongue stuck to the roof of your mouth. He was lucky you didn't spit on him as you were tempted to, but that would be stupid, and you couldn't be stupid right now.
Jesus, what did they inject you with? Whatever it was, it was making you disoriented and dizzy.
"I know you're in a lot of pain, little bug, but I need you to tell me where it hurts."
Everything. Everything fucking hurt. "My… shoulder," you croaked out finally. "My head."
With your vision improved a little, you could see his white turtleneck and pants, which contrasted dramatically with the place's colors. Dingy and damp, the dungeon looked like an abandoned cave. A heavy, oppressive atmosphere hung heavy in the air like a burden of grief. The walls were covered in a thin layer of soot and grime. Only a few torches lined the walls, keeping the darkness at bay. The dim and eerie illumination made the whole place even more unsettling.
"Anywhere else? Your chest or stomach?"
Was he trying to fool you with this mask of civility?
"Back," you gasped, recalling how your back felt like a cheese grater had shredded it.
"That all?" he asked, keeping his tone neutral. As he stared at you, he brushed his hair back.
You nodded, exhausted by the incessant questions. It hurt in a million other places, too, but your energy had depleted, and you were tired.
"You're not lying to me, are you?" His breath flared on your face, and then a scream left your mouth as he pressed your shoulder with his hand. You noticed his sick grin as endless pain surfaced over your surroundings. This man was a wretched, vile creature who delighted in inflicting pain and suffering on others. "I don't like liars, little bug." He poked your nose as he pulled back his face. "Lucky you're not one."
What the fuck was wrong with these people? Who were they?
The two men standing behind him had bottomless eyes and wicked grins on their faces, just like their dickhead Master. The pair had been so quiet, staring at you as if you were a lab rat in an experiment.
A very fucking horrible experiment.
Your eyes clashed with a dark pair first. His eyes were almost black and lifeless from the lack of warmth. Tattoos covered his skin, and serpents curling around roses on either side of his throat drew your attention first. A leather jacket was zipped up over his shoulders. In addition to his long black hair, he had sharp angular features and thick arched brows, which completed his near-feral appearance.
Next to him was a grungy-looking man with scabs on his face from apparent drug use. The mop of greasy hair was covered by a backward ball cap, a dirty wife-beater, and oversize pants. His teeth were so black, it looked like worms had infested his mouth.
Lastly, you glanced at the third man. The sick bastard. He would be attractive if he didn't look like he'd rather see you bleed to death than do anything else. There was a dark aura surrounding him. You were sure the unsettling atmosphere up here derived directly from him. He cultivated an energy that made you feel as if you were stuck in a room breathing black smoke.
The blond man hummed, thrilled by your fearful reactions, then he talked again. "Do you know who I am?" It took you a few seconds to rein all the dirty names on the tip of your tongue, but you managed to swallow them down enough to shake your head.
His eyebrow popped up on his forehead. Undoubtedly, he was the star of his own nasty show. "I'm Knives," he said. "That's my name, but it's not how you'll address me."
Frowning, you knitted your brows, unsure of how to react. Taking your face closer, he placed his lips an inch away from your ear before you could even realize what he was doing. When he whispered, "I am the head of this family." You winced. "Master, you'll call me that, just like others. You won't speak, act or even think without my permission. Understood?"
Inhaling sharply, you couldn't speak a word as your eyes were shocked.
"Should I repeat myself?" He pushed your face away harshly, causing your shoulders to hit the wall. You screwed your eyes shut in pain as a puff of air escaped you from the impact.
"Yes," you whispered, though your words were garbled between your pinched lips. "I understood." He was angry with his men for damaging the apple, yet he couldn't keep his goddamn hands off you.
A cold tremor settled deep in the marrow of your bones, causing you to look away. While the dull, throbbing pain was growing more intense, it was still not as severe as when you first awoke. Whatever painkillers they pumped into your system were wearing off, and you wouldn't hesitate to ask for more. The pain in all of your muscles was so intense that you felt like a hard shell had formed around your body.
You were incredibly stiff, and every movement twinged.
This… this terror was unlike anything you had ever experienced before. It wasn't like the cheap thrill you get from scary movies, and you knew you were truly fucked when you felt this way.
"Don't worry, little bug. I'm not going to hurt you," he whispered. "No more than what you can tolerate anyway."
You swallowed, a lump forming in your throat, and then your gaze fixated on a dark red puddle on the table you hadn't noticed before. You couldn't even begin to imagine what that could possibly be from.
Tracking your line of sight, the blond man turned to see what you were staring at. He barked out a laugh when he saw it. "Want to place a bet on what it's from?"
Your face contorted in revulsion.
"My bet is that some bitch lost her tongue right there," Knives chimed, turning his attention to you and leaning his cheek against his palm as if he had just seen the sweetest scenery ever.
It was as if he had just walked out of hell's gate. You were frightened by his look, but his creepy smile sent your heart sinking to the pits of your stomach. "As long as you do as you're told, I'll let you keep yours," the psycho said, pulling your attention back to him.
You bristled, anger rising in your chest. You were two seconds away from telling him that he needed to be admitted to the nuthouse, but you didn't say that out loud, given that you were already in a fucking nuthouse. Yet, you couldn't keep that loose mouth of yours shut. "You're sick," you blurted out, your voice watery and full of hate.
"Shut up!" he screeched. The calm man completely lost his mind as if you had hit the jackpot. His chest heaved with anger. Heat radiated from him in waves, solar flares of fury lashing at you as he seethed. Then he grabbed your hair and slammed your head against the ground, sending fire racing across your scalp. You cried out; the sound quickly muffled when he yanked your head back, forcing you to stare at his disgusting face, nearly spitting with ire. He was on his knees, eyes wild as he hissed, "Be careful what you say, or you'll suffer way worse than this. To fucking God, I'll make you wish you were dead."
Tears flowed down your cheeks, slobber nearly pouring from your mouth as sobs racked your throat. His slap landed across your face, your ear ringing as he continued to hit you mindlessly until you were breathless from the pain. "You fucking useless bitch!" he shouted, but through the pain and rivers glistening in your eyes, you could no longer see him. Indiscernible pleas fell from your lips, but you didn't even know what you were saying.
"Get in here," he snapped to someone, but you couldn't see who. Eventually, he released you, nearly knocking your head off the floor again, only to feel some other weight pressing down on you.
You wiggled, attempting to roll out of his hold, but the attempts were all vain, and he forced you back down. "Stop!" you screamed, your vision blackening with panic and tears, but then you felt the cold metal of the gun nozzle against your head.
"Wait, wait, please, please," you begged, desperate to get away but unable to. You could see Knives' shiny shoes walking away from you, laughing at your misery until the squeaking of the wooden door filled the dungeon, and someone charged in.
"HOW DARE YOU?" a man, probably standing in the doorway, shouted as if the rage within him was boiling, building up like lava about to erupt.
How do volcano eruptions begin? Pressure. It was brewing inside this new arrival. As the fiery magma erupted, hatred thickened, and bloodlust grew denser. Eventually, he would fucking explode, and you hoped he would burn this whole goddamn place down.
In no time, you heard gunfire and saw a man fall to the ground, his blood splattering across your face. The weight on your back was gone as your cheek hit the floor's rough surface, a chill slowly seeping into your skin. The shock shuddered through you, but the scream of terror never left your lips. You were utterly terrified, your whole body shaking as your heart tried to tear open your chest.
All the pain beat like a pulse behind your eyes, making it impossible for you to turn your head. Your lashes dripped warm crimson blood when your gaze was fixed on Caine's lifeless limbs a few feet away. You had no idea if he was dead or alive and why nobody reached for help.
You could hear the new man's heavy, determined footsteps as he stomped past the scene, his boots slowly clattering against the stones. As he stepped on the red puddle, the soles of his shoes made a soft wet squishing sound against the stained floor.
He wore all black. His boots were made of leather, black as the night sky, now covered with the drops of blood moon. His pants were the same, a dark shade of black that hugged his legs tightly. With his black shirt and gloves, he looked like a shadow rising from the depths of hell.
The entire surface of his neck was covered with tattoos, dark and intricate designs. It looked like a maze or some mysterious symbol. While his sun-colored spiked hair stood out in the darkness, the loop in his left ear completed the sinister ensemble.
As he approached, your pain-soaked body trembled with fear, but he did not even glance in your direction.
Despite his lack of emotion, his movements were not as sterile as Knives. There was something tired about this one. As if he wasn't born this way, but had cared for so long, he was left with nothing but rage. Someone had taken away his heart. But he was no hero, and you had no admiration for him. He might have been a good man once upon a time, but now he was cold and emotionless like the rest. You didn't dare to move your eyes to look at his face. There were already so many Satans you had met today.
Pointing at the corpse, suddenly Re-Dei's shout echoed in the room, "What? Why, Vash-sama?"
Only then did the beast stop, his boots trampling blood pool without a second thought. You glanced at him from the aside. Rei-Dei was aimed at by the man in black who leveled his firearm. "Nobody gets away with touching what's mine. Got a problem?"
Despite being disgusted by how he named you his property, you couldn't ignore the clear message behind his actions — he wouldn't hesitate to use his weapon, and just like Rei, you had better think very carefully about what you would do. The consequences could be dire if anyone chose their words poorly with this man.
The sudden movement of Vash frightened Rei-Dei, and as he stared up at the man's cold, predatory gaze, his fear and terror grew. He struggled to speak, his voice stuttering as he tried to find the right words.
"N-no, bo-ss." He turned and watched his Master stand there, seemingly unfazed by the death of one of his own. He must already learn that his Master cared little about him.
The air was thick with tension, the man on the edge and ready for any sign of aggression, but Knives just seemed to be enjoying this little theater, watching people die with a cruel relish.
"I know you're grieving, but I thought we'd already established that you weren't supposed to kill my men," Knives finally spoke, but nonchalantly. For him, this was all a fun game.
Vash's face turned from Rei-Dei to his brother with a cold, contemptuous sneer. He wasn't afraid of Knives and refused to be intimidated by his words. "I thought you'd keep your dogs on leash," he said ruthlessly. "Because certainly, I enjoy putting them to sleep."
Rei looked at his Master's expressionless face, and you could sense the fury burning up like a furnace inside Knives, but somehow he managed to keep a calm exterior. He was the type of guy who wouldn't let anyone see him get rattled, but he wouldn't let the insult go unanswered. You were sure he would never give anyone, not even his little brother, the satisfaction of seeing his rage.
Perhaps that's why he gazed at you, a mistletoe smile spreading across his lips. The subject was going to be changed by baiting you. "Did you like my gift, Vash?" he spoke in a measured tone, his words dripping with cold malice and contempt. He pointed at you like a piece of filth that needed to be discarded after being used and abused.
It looked like Vash was insistent on ignoring your existence and the fucks happening around here. For him, this was just another day. He seemed so carefree, spinning his gun in his hand. He was quick and agile, easily handling the deadly weapon as if it was an extension of his arm. His gaze was locked on his big brother. "Returning what you've stolen isn't a gift, Kni." In a fluid motion, he returned the revolver to its holster.
Knives' smile turned into a snarl as the words struck him like a hammer blow.
Moments of silence, then they began talking again, their voices barely louder than whispers, yet filling you with disgust. There may be a common bond between these brothers, but they seemed to have little affection for one another.
The power these creatures wielded over your life was beyond comprehension. What would happen to you as a pawn in their twisted games when they stopped playing? Where the hell was your father and his men? Why were you still here? What did they want from you?
"Anyway, I've got to go, party pooper," Knives said. Letting out a sigh, he grabbed his coat. You caught him as he looked at you smugly, pleased with himself and his handiwork.
In a flash, he turned to leave, Rei following him, but Vash stood in the way. His grip tightened around Knives' arm and pulled him closer. "You didn't kill her," he whispered, probably staring at the bloodied footsteps he'd left behind. You couldn't see the upper half of his face because of the lack of light.
"She wasn't my toy to break," Knives retorted with arrogance and a sense of superiority; he was such a proud boy who wouldn't even apologize for playing with his little brother's stuff without his permission. There was no doubt in his mind he was untouchable.
"Do anything like this once more, and you'll have the displeasure of not seeing me again." His monotone voice carried a distinct threat. Knives remained silent, which meant the younger brother was serious about what he had just said, not giving away empty promises.
Vash released his arm and walked aside, opening the way for his cursed family's head. His hands moved swiftly as he searched through his pockets, his fingers quick and decisive, not wanting to waste any time. He tipped his head slightly to the side as he rummaged through his belongings. A blue pack of cigarettes was pulled from his pocket and slid between his lips smoothly.
"What that means?" Knives' tone was bitter as he stood and stared. He was obviously caught off guard, not expecting his brother to threaten him in such a manner. Now you could see it. Knives only concern was his twin. He only cared about him.
Holding the cig with his teeth, he smiled at his twin. "Fuck around and find out." Turning away his head, he flicked his lighter and brought the flame close to the cigarette. A faint light illuminated his face briefly, and then darkness enveloped him once more. Probably he didn't need to look at his brother's face to see how worried his pale blue eyes were. Maybe that was his intention. Maybe this was his perfect gamble. Vash might have known his weak spot and wasn't afraid of pushing it.
Knives stormed out of the dungeon with his dog 3 steps behind him, slamming the door shut. Your heart sank when you realized you were now alone with the other maniac, and somehow, you felt even more helpless, knowing no one would be here to stop him. You hate it here. You hate it here. You hate it here. You hate it here.
Walking toward the bloodied table, Vash stood before it as if he could see what most likely had happened there. He took a deep drag on his cigar, letting out the smoke in a slow and steady stream. The small white cloud swirled around him, giving him an ominous aura.
It wasn't pleasant to watch. He wasn't one of those smokers you used to see among your father's men. Instead of puffing away with pleasure, he was trying to keep as much smoke in as possible, ensuring that it would burn his lungs and nostrils – a cold and ruthless Harakiri.
He extinguished the flame of his cigarette by pressing it against the blood, and turned toward you.
Close your eyes and prepare for the worst.
Your body curled in on itself, the lump lodged painfully in your throat, but you didn't have it in you to swallow it down. A whimper escaped your lips, like the cries of a wounded animal.
You felt a mass descend on you. Your heart picked up speed, and fear pumped through your veins, settling low in your stomach, eating at your insides like acid. The smell of something sweet, rainwater, and smoke flew around you. Very odd in a place like this, but that wasn't important right now. You flailed uselessly, yet your fists were unable to escape the ropes.
"Shhh," he whispered. You fought harder when you remembered what those douchebags had said about this nutty twin. Screaming for him to leave, you braced yourself for a blow, but instead, you felt a gloved hand running throw your hair, his thumb caressing your bruised cheek. "Shhh, it's okay."
You opened your eyes. It was not very often that people surprised you. Since you expected the worst from everyone, yet when you looked into his eyes, you couldn't believe he was a cold-blooded killer.
Million shades of blue swimming in warm, sunlit waves. His eyes, they resembled sea glass, glacier water, wet stone walls, and broken light on rainy streets. Fire on the ocean, you thought, as if imagining such a thing was possible. Yet nothing was behind them. Empty. He had been robbed of his humanity.
Blowing out a sharp breath, you forced yourself to fight, gritting your teeth from the aches in your body. The little energy you had left dissipated, and all you could do was sob. Grasping your throat, he tilted your head up, his fingers squeezing your air pipe. You started coughing, just barely, making out his expression. His face broke into an evil smile, reeking of nothing but dark intentions. Biting his bottom lip, he petted your head almost reverently, staring at you as if you were a prized possession.
Then, just as your eyes began to focus, the press on your throat made your vision blur once again, and your eyelids grew heavy. You could no more resist the deep pull inside you, trying to close your eyes. There was no point in fighting it. No, not when it would take you away from this man, from the pain. Because you knew, there was more to it.
"Welcome home, love," he whispered.
