If anything, one thing I want most from season three (of many) is to have Violet in some state of ease during Francesca's season because she believes that, now that Anthony is married to Kate, he'll have a milder handling of things (basically different than how he was with Daphne) and that will largely be because of Kate's prescence. Like I need to see this woman fully believe that she doesn't have to worry about her son's antics, only to discover that, while Kate does help keep Anthony from being too drastic, she can be just as bad as him (if not "worse" because she's more tactical).
I need to see Kate and Anthony scheming, filtering out all the suitors that they deem unfit and just basic hijinks with Violet watching from a corner (kind of imagine Shirley from THOHH during Nell's wedding a little bit).

I think my biggest issue with both the haunting and thohh is that they're both about the ghosts, not the house itself. Like yeah thohh has that bit with the red room but in the end they were the ghosts that made the mom throw the tea party, luke get into drugs and so on. Whereas there are no ghosts in the story, just the house, which was the whole point, right? I love both adaptation but they could be anything else than that. They basically only share the character names.
And yeah they both also have some other stuff picked from the story like Nell climbing the railing in TH or the cup full of stars and the stone rain story in thohh, and that thumping on the walls scene in both, but in both it kind of feels like they could do without and be completely separate properties. (Especially with how recontextualized they are in thohh)
And then there was something that reminded me of Bly but i don't remember now. i should have written this when i meant to right after reading the story but here I am writing what i remembered of it super randomly bc the haunting is on the tv hah 😅
Also, reading the story gave me such weird mix of imagining the characters as those from th and from thohh in turns lol
Idk i love the idea of a place messing with people rather than ghosts
SPEAK ON IT BESTIE
the thing is, hill house is a great ghost story, and a terrible adaptation. they really don't share anything but a title and a few character names. and shirley jackson had such an incisive, valuable story to tell in her novel about psychological trauma and horror, about the way disenfranchised women are viewed with suspicion and derision and often cast aside by society, the ominous presence of fear and loneliness, the desperation to find somewhere to belong, the way lines can blur between the mind and reality. i love show!nell and yet she is nothing like book!nell, and book!nell is SO important because rarely are women like her depicted or treated as if they matter. the show made the confusing choice to be about children and a nuclear family's terror and scars from actual malevolent ghosts, where you could argue the novel is about everything but the nuclear family - it rejects the concept (her mother was horrible and abusive, her sister and brother-in-law simultaneously controlling and dismissive). insist on your cup of stars is this deep ache she has, of never having anything of her own, even her dreams and wishes, clawing to keep one tiny shard of self. she escapes to the house, and the house is waiting for her. it preys on her because she's vulnerable and fanciful and troubled, it is an echo and manifestation of her isolation. the house is the monster. we're not even sure if the ghosts are there, and it doesn't matter. the house consumes people. the place itself is evil. its very facade is malignant. idk it's just such an effectively terrifying concept and eleanor (and theo) in the novel are such distinct female characters. the series/book are completely separate stories in my head.
"i love the idea of a place messing with people rather than ghosts" same
i think i've also said this to you but i'm never over that ending monologue in the show twisting and trampling the meaning of the iconic opening/closing lines of the novel. even within the concept of the series, it's baffling. the evil of hill house is hungry and destructive. there's no peace or union there. whatever walks there, walks alone.

Hangover- Theo Crain
Tumblr media
Pairing: Theo Crain x Reader
Characters: Theo Crain
Warnings: N/A
Request: N/A
Word Count: 449
Author: Charlotte
It wasn’t an uncommon occurrence for Theo to go out for most of a night and return stinking of alcohol. She wasn’t afraid of drinking more than her share and although sometimes it did worry you with how much she drank, you had seen that she cut down recently and was getting better. You couldn’t blame her for coming home in the early hours of the morning today or for the fact that she emptied her stomach over the bathroom floor, having missed the toilet.
There had only been a day of coming to terms with the fact that her baby sister Nellie was dead. Everyone grieved differently and Theo turned to alcohol and went out partying. She didn’t want to talk about death or her feelings, she wanted to be numb and pretend to be happy and seen as there hadn’t been anytime to rationalise her grieving process, you let her have the night.
You had barely slept, worried about her and then when she came home you were taking the roll of her nurse. You helped her into some fresh pyjamas, taking her to bed before going to clean up the bathroom and the complete mess that she had made. By the time you had disinfected every surface the morning sun was high in the sky and the day was beginning again. There was no point in going back to bed so instead made Theo some dry toast to help soak up the alcohol and grabbed some painkillers and water.
Making your way into your bedroom, you sat down on the edge of the bed, the tray of breakfast on your lap as you gently rubbed Theo’s arm to gain her attention. Theo grunted, rolling over to look at you with narrowed eyes. She still had some of her makeup on, you had struggled terribly in removing it when she returned, and her hair was still up, but now in a far messier state.
“Y/N,” she groaned. “My head hurts.”
You nodded your head. “That’s what happens when you drink too much.”
She let out another grunt, letting her head sink back into the pillow, hoping that you and her pain would disappear.
“You’re not going back to sleep yet,” you demanded. “Come on, eat something so that you can take your pain killers and hopefully it’ll help.”
Theo was reluctant but slowly sat up, taking the tray from you. She barely took one bite of the toast before she popped two of the pain killers and finished the rest of her water. It was going to be a long day but you didn’t care, you wanted to be there to support her through this trying time.

[x] REQUESTED BY ANONYMOUS
LUKE was greeted with a giant cake with candles that took up the small dim lit room. He knew exactly what was going on, and he looked up and saw your bright smile - the only smile that was given to him intentionally.
“Happy birthday!” you exclaimed, placing two paper plates on the table.
He smiled softly to himself, looking down at the cake with his name on it. Even though it was just you, his heart began to warm up. “Thanks, y/n.”

Push (Theo Crain x Reader)
Tumblr media
smut
You’d known Theo a lot longer than any other woman in her life. For the most part, there wasn’t any romance between the two of you. Sure, you slept together and stuff, but Theo hadn’t tried to give anything more than that. In fact, if you tried to further things, she’d always push you away. It hurt, but you understood that feelings were not her thing and she held herself in a certain way.
It didn’t stop you from letting her in every single time. Most of the time, you had to wait for her to decide that she wanted you. Theo just had to get back into the mindset that you were like her, not for relationships. After she’d fooled herself like that, she came back to make a fucking fool out of you.
“It’s looking like a dry night,” Theo said as she turned her back to the dance floor once again. The two of you had come out to the club so she could try to get laid, but despite the numerous women giving Theo the stare, she wasn’t noticing. In fact, she was actively ignoring every single person in that club that tried giving her attention.
“I’m sure the four girls that you turned down are thinking the same thing,” you snorted. Theo set her drink down and reached out to touch your cheek. The gloves were a part of Theo, just as much as her skin in your eyes. She was always wearing them. It was a spectral sensitivity. At least, that was the name you’d given whatever power her mother had bestowed upon her. Maybe the reason that Theo had kept you close all these years was because instead of calling her freak or crazy when she told you about her hands, you were fascinated and did everything in your power to understand her.
“Maybe I’m looking for something more familiar,” Theo said, pushing herself closer to you. You were partially trapped against the bar, but she gave you an easy way out. If, for any reason, you didn’t want her, Theo would understand and move on once she knew you were fine. It was weird because you knew she cared about you, but she wouldn’t love you.
“At this point, you might as well just buy a bottle and come over,” you told her. She tilted her head and pulled you away from the bar. She paid for your drinks and then whisked you away out to the night air. You called the cab and she gave directions. It wasn’t often that you got to spend the night at her place, especially if Shirley was home. In fact, if Shirley was there, Theo would keep you as far away from her place as she could for as long as she could.
“I love this song,” Theo said as she hummed along to the radio. You recognized it as something that’d played at prom. You remembered that night because it’d been the first time you’d ever kissed a girl. It was the first time you’d ever kissed Theo.
“What do you think of when you hear it?” you asked her.
“I guess I think of prom night after your date left with that stupid underclassmen because she was gonna put out for him,” Theo said, disdain in her voice. You reached out to hold her hand and she let you, humming contentedly as she leaned towards you. “You were so upset and then we started dancing. I didn’t know it, but that was when I figured it out, that I liked women because I was dancing with the most beautiful one in the room.”
“Theodora Crain, are you being romantic?” you asked and Theo pushed your shoulder playfully. “I figured out that I didn’t like boys that night.”
“When I kissed you?” Theo asked and you nodded. She leaned down and pressed a tentative kiss to your lips. “It was just like that, wasn’t it?”
“The first one was. The one when our dance was over, but the ones behind the bleachers were not the same,” you said and Theo chuckled. “Still, even when you were pulling my hair a little and biting my lip because you wanted to know if it was sexy, you were more gentle than he was.”
“Here’s our stop,” Theo said, completely distancing herself from whatever thoughts were causing the soft look on her face. She opened the door and helped you out of the cab. You paid the cabbie and then followed her inside. She made sure to keep you quiet until you were inside of the house. Then, she seemed to not care how loud the two of you were.
She brought you straight back to her bedroom. There were certain things that Theo knew you loved, so she did them. She pressed you against the wall as she kissed you. She made sure to remove your clothes in a frantic manner as she led you back to her bed. She paid attention to what your body responded to with her touches and kisses. She stopped on her way between your legs to trace the intricate tattoo spanning across your hip bones.
“Y/n,” Theo said as she sat up a little bit. You propped yourself up on your elbows and looked at her.
“Is something wrong?” you asked her and she shook her head.
“Do you think I could use the strap this time?” Theo asked and you nodded. She smiled and the two of you quickly traded places. Theo was definitely a giver, but there was a rule when she topped you with the strap-on. She went first so you could make sure that you got to do something for her. You didn’t rush, but you didn’t move slowly with her. Theo was antsy to fuck you and patient wasn’t a word you’d come to associate with a horny Theodora Crain.
Any time spent between her legs was good in your eyes. It was one of the few times that you could physically show her how much you loved and appreciated her without getting pushed away. She accepted every bit of your love that way and you felt complete for a little while. You could make her feel good and forget about the hardships she’d faced for a bit.
“Y/n,” Theo moaned as your tongue found her clit. She threw her head back in pleasure when your fingers joined the mix. You started to move your tongue in more intricate patterns and her back arched. She pushed her hips up and ground herself against your tongue. You pushed with your tongue a bit more and twisted your fingers up a bit inside of her.
Her bedroom quickly filled with moaning as she inched closer and closer to cumming. As she approached her climax, you lightly used your teeth to give her that extra little push and she snapped then and there. You guided her down from her orgasm with your fingers as you sat back and watched Theo shake. She composed herself as quickly as she could and then laid you back on the bed.
“There’s almost no point in checking if you’re ready,” Theo said as she sat in between your legs. She had her hands on your thighs, rubbing ever so slowly up and down. You bit your lip as she moved closer to your center each time. Finally, you felt her middle finger barely push inside of you and she smirked. “But that doesn’t mean I won’t.”
“Fuck Theo.” Your voice was a bit gruffer than usual, but she made you that way. It was like your entire body was anticipating the pleasure that’d be making you scream out later. Theo was a show-off when it came to the bedroom. If you tried to keep yourself quiet, she’d do something that made you lose control of yourself, just a little bit.
“That, like you, comes later after I get a taste,” Theo said as she shifted backwards a bit. She leaned down and licked over your entrance. She hummed and you choked on whatever you had been planning to tell her. She teased you a bit more and then when your body was practically buzzing from excitement, she left you. You snapped out of your near-sex haze very quickly and in an almost panicked manner, scrambled to the edge of the bed to watch her. Theo wasn’t dragging anything out, but you felt like she was.
“Come on, you can’t just leave me like that,” you whined as Theo walked back over to the bed. She leaned down to kiss you and you scrambled backwards. You laid with your head against the pillows and Theo hovered above you. She grabbed your thighs and slid her hands down to your hips. She held onto your hips as she slid into you.
“I would never leave you like that.” It was a lie, Theo had done it so many times before. Some of them had been intentional, but others had not. Theo could be a tease and sometimes you got to be like her test subject when she found out about something new to try. You didn’t mind it, but you were not there for the delayed gratification phase Theo tried out. Psych majors.
Theo started slowly, but once she was sure you had adjusted well and were ready for her to give more, she sped up. Her thrusts gained more depth and there was a bit more force. Theo moved one of her hands up to cradle your head before moving to grab onto the headboard. Your arms wrapped around her neck and you went to kiss her. Normally, that wouldn’t have been acknowledged, but Theo kissed you back as she continued to fuck you. As you got closer to cumming, you dropped your arms and Theo moved her hands so they were right next to either side of your head.
Theo didn’t stay in bed with you for very long after the two of you were finished. She kept herself busy and you decided to get ready before she came back. It hurt less to be pushed away by Theo Crain when you were wearing pants. It was a lot less humiliating on your end at the very least. She seemed confused when she came back to see you getting dressed though.
“Where are you off to?” Theo asked as she set a cup of tea down on the bedside table. “Normally you want to stay.”
“Normally you push me away,” you said and Theo pulled you back over to the bed. “What’s different about tonight?”
“I’m not sober enough to push you away like an idiot,” Theo said and you rolled your eyes. “That was a very strong drink at the club.”
“Must have been some beer.” You decided to play along with her, at least for tonight. “Hopefully strong enough to last until tomorrow. I expect breakfast ma’am.”
“You can have me and pancakes, in that order,” Theo told you and you liked the sound of that. “But first, take your clothes back off and lay down with me. It’s warmer when you’re naked and I just turned the AC on.”

Luke Crain Headcanons
Tumblr media
Request: Hi🥺I’m usually not to good about making request but I’m trying to breakout of my shell on that cause you are an amazing writer and I love everything you write!! But can I request a Luke Crain headcanon where you guys grew up together but distanced while he was in rehab but you came back together after what happened with Nellie! Thank you so much you’re an angel🥺💛
Thank you SO much @cathrinexxxv I LOVE LUKE CRAIN! Also I’m so ready to binge watch all of Bly Manor tomorrow!! <3
You and Luke first met when you were very young. As in, really really little. To this day, you’re still constantly teasing him and making him blush smile about his huge magnifying pair of glasses and his obsession with bowler hats.
You and your family used to live in the small village which was a fifteen minute walk away from the looming heights of Hill House, so when a rumour started spreading down the houses that a new family full of children were moving in for the summer, you, naturally, were intrigued.
One night, when you had heard from your mother that the new family had moved in, you sneaked out your back garden on a warm afternoon before dinner, cutting through the dark and dingy forest until you reached the outskirts of the property. Seeing a boy around your own age sitting on his own on the burnt grass, you waved to Luke from behind the branch of a nearby, crooked oak tree. He was startled, to say the least, but as he watched you hide slightly behind the bark, he was surprised to find he wasn’t scared in the slightest.
He felt as if he almost knew you already. As if this was always meant to happen, that you were meant to find each other here.
Nudging his glasses back up the bridge of the nose, he shyly waved back. Once he finally realised that you weren’t going to budge from your hiding place, nervous from the stories your neighbours had told you about this house, he decided to pick up his crayons in one fist and his paper in the other, before he sets off half stumbling, half stomping along the uneven ground towards you.
When he finally reaches the trunk, he stops and looks at you kind of funnily, tilting his head slightly before he decides the right reaction was to smile at you.
‘My name is Luke Crain. Do you want to play with me? All my siblings ignore me and they don’t want to draw with me.’
The two of you spent the rest of the afternoon huddled under the shaking leaves, sitting on the roots of the tree, Luke tracing out a picture and you giggling as you tried to bump his hand out of the way to colour it in.
From then on, the two of you were inseparable. Nellie loved you of course, and saw you as her honorary best friend as well, as did the rest of the siblings (even though Shirley would never admit it, and Theo was too stubborn to), which meant constant sleepovers at Hill House.
Hugh would always chuckle and shake his head when he peeked into Luke and Nellie’s room, seeing Nell asleep on a red bean bag with a half open bag of sweets lying deserted by her feet, and you and Luke sprawled out on the mat by the iron railings of his bed, snoring.
You were also the only one he allowed up into his treehouse. Although, sometimes he was too embarrassed to let you, or his siblings, in, because he had stuck pictures up on the wall of the drawings he had tried to do of you.
Growing up with Luke also meant having to calm him down after he starts seeing the tall, floating ghost. Sometimes you would try to climb up the ivy outside of his bedroom window, only to topple into the house headfirst when you start to hear Luke’s high pitched screaming coming from under his bed. Although Olivia would come running in, she would always end up comforting sobbing Nellie, as Luke would only grab onto you, the two of you sitting on the edge of his bed as you remind him the rule.
‘Breathe in and out Luke, that’s it. In and out, seven times - that’s what keeps you safe.’
‘Eight’, he would say with a trembling breath. ‘Eight times. You’re my family too.’
The two of you were gutted when Luke had to move away, but your parents could already see how close the two of you were, and so decided that a move away and a new school for you, perhaps, wasn’t the worst idea. Especially, they decided, since you had been there that night as well.
Although the two of you were close for the whole of your childhood, it takes Luke until he’s eighteen years old to realise just how long he’s really been in love with you. It takes some nudging on from Nellie, pointing out how you would run up to his locker during breaks between classes and just fill him in on how your day was going - each break, no matter how long it had been, without fail. Luke was the only person you wanted to talk to, and from the look of pure delight on Luke’s face as he leans against his locker door and gives his full, undivided attention to you, you’re the only person he wants to listen to.
Or how, Nellie would continue, you would come round to their house for dinner, and although Aunt Janet tried to separate the two of you by sitting you opposite each other, you would just spend the whole dinner ignoring whatever Theo was talking about and giving each other funny looks as you kicked each other in the shin.
Or, when the two of you got a bit older, and you would sneak out of your dorm to visit him in the middle of the night, throwing little rocks at his window until his curtains would rustle and the window latch would be thrown open, his grinning face peering down at you. Despite having spent the whole weekend together, reading to each other in the town’s local library, or just lying shoulder to shoulder watching movies, the two of you would sit out in his garden, on the dewy grass, constantly craving each other’s company. You made him blush one night, when you suddenly grabbed his hand and intertwined his growing fingers over your smaller ones, pointing up at the moon, and the glowing stars, not realising the little side eye, euphoric look he would give you.
That’s when he finally realised how immensely, and terrifyingly in love with you he was.
It scared him, to realise this, but deep down he knew it had always been you.
He has so many nightmares though. So many nights are spent with his head lying heavy in your lap, as you brush through his golden hair, trying to shush him and calm him down, or rocking him as he cries into your shoulder because of the nightmares he has about his mother, or about Abigail.
As the two of you start to escape your teenage years, and the wishful chasing after each other that came with it, your relationship becomes slightly more strained when he starts using. You choose to move in with Nellie for a while, once he finally goes to rehab. When she gets married, and you're forced to find somewhere new to live, you think you'll never hear from the Crains again - you get the odd visit from Nell, or Theo, but they're so busy enjoying the newly wed life, or studying for their degree that it's not enough - nothing fills the hole that comes from missing Luke.
It hurts that he never comes to see you, but little did you know that he used to sit at his little beige desk every night, underneath the barred window, just staring up at the moon as he bit on the edge of his pen, a feeling of such wistfulness and loneliness and longing weighing down his chest.
He used to write you a letter, every day, just pouring out all the feelings he was too afraid to tell you, but he always crumples them up and throws them away, too scared to send them.
When Steve phones you up to tell you the news about Nellie’s passing, you told him to immediately come and pick you up.
You're terrified when you open the door and walk out into the bone chilling night to hug him, your heart thumping in your chest when he tells you about how Luke has left rehab again and is somewhere out on the streets, probably using. It breaks your heart, but you know you have to be the one to find him, to bring him back.
When you reach him, and see the man you've loved since you were a child wandering, shoeless and shivering along the freezing, cracked pavement, muttering to himself, you can’t help a tear slip out as you unbuckle your seatbelt and hop out of Steve’s rental.
Luke is so terrified, he doesnt recognise you for a second. It’s only a second, though, before his eyes widen and he pounces on you, wrapping you into him so familiarly, his frame looming large above you but yet feels so fragile in your grasp as he buries his head into the side of your neck and starts crying.
‘I’m so, so cold, Y/n, and my arms are s-s-so stiff, and I’m s-so sorry, I’m so sorry-’
You can’t bear to tell him the news, so you just hold the nape of his neck and pull him tight against your chest, hating the way his whole body shakes in your hold.
On the day of Nell’s funeral, he doesn't leave your side once - it’s as if the two of you had never been separated at all. As everyone files in through the main door, ignoring the sour face on Shirley as they wander into the reception area, you and Luke just sit knee to knee on the couch opposite the entryway.
‘I tried to write to you,’ he starts, as he fumbles a cigarette from out of his breast pocket and tucks it away behind his ear, trying to busy himself with anything so he doesn’t have to meet your confused eyes, and so you don’t have to see the guilt ridden in his. ‘I want you to know that. Nellie kept on telling me off, but i just didn't know how to say what i needed to say to you.’
‘Luke, its okay, i understand how difficult it was for you-’
‘No-no, Y/n, no more excuses! You mean so much to me and i- i cant... i can't lose anyone else. Just-’
He's so gentle when he finally reaches over and kisses you, trying to shake off his fear and just show you what he meant instead. His suit rumples against your chest as he smooshes himself against you, cupping your cheeks softly with his large hands as he tilts you to the side to meet him in a needy, a desperate, a long anticipated kiss.
He doesn’t pull away - he can't - until you finally break for air, and only then does he finally concede and places his forehead against yours with a soft thud, just closing his eyes in both agony and bliss.
‘I’m sorry that took me so long to do.’
‘It was worth the wait. Although, I have to be honest, your timing has always been rubbish.’
He chuckles, his deep voice vibrating against your chest as he rests his head on your shoulder like a lost puppy, gazing up at you with those wide, lost eyes, and for the first time you can finally see the adoration and awe and just pure love that’s always been in them.
For the rest of the reception. before he tells you of his plans to go back and burn Hill House to the ground, is spent with the two of you escaping from his siblings by stepping outside and sitting on Shirley’s porch. Your arms stay linked tightly together, as if afraid to let go again, and his coat is wrapped around both of your shoulders as he rests against you, just content to be surrounded by your presence.

Luke smiles as he watches you swaying your hips to the music that fills your apartment, grinning to yourself as you move to the melody. The water runs quietly from the sink as Luke cleans up the dishes from your dinner, and you waltz around the living room, tidying everything up from the day. You look so peaceful, Luke thinks, so happy, and Luke just feels grateful to be able to experience this moment with you.
You turn, catching Luke staring at you, and Luke can feel a blush rising to his cheeks. Despite how long you’ve been together, he still gets the same nervous flutter in his chest that he got the first time the two of you met. You smile at him, a comforting smile that makes Luke feel at home, and you extend your hand out to him as you say, “Dance with me.”
Luke chuckles, setting down the plate he’s washing. He dries his hands off on a towel, shaking his head as he replies, “I’m a terrible dancer.”
You roll your eyes at him, your smile turning teasing as you remark, “I don’t care.”
You make your way towards Luke, taking his hand and pulling you towards him. Luke wraps his arms around you, resting his cheek on top of your head as the two of you begin to slowly move to the music. The world feels as if it’s slowed down, allowing the two of you this dance together, this private little moment that’s undisturbed by the reality around you.
“You make me so unbelievably happy.” Luke quietly tells you, his voice barely above a whisper, and you smile as you tilt your head up to look at him. He presses a kiss to your forehead, and he continues, “I love you.”
“And I love you.” you tell him, and Luke wishes he could stay in this moment forever.

The rain was a soothing drizzle, a surprise spring shower that had driven you and Luke inside. When you had woken up that morning, the weather report had said sunny and clear. When you heard that, you knew that it was going to be the perfect day for a picnic at the park. Luke had agreed with you and so the two of you had packed up a nice little basket.
Unfortunately, you had only just gotten everything laid out nice and pretty when the skies opened up. It was then a moment from any romantic movie ever -- the two of you running back to the car, you ducked underneath Luke’s coat as you both did your best to stay dry.
As much as you acted irritated that your morning was ruined, you were too busy being charmed by Luke’s sheepish grin to mind. He had acted as the bad weather was entirely his fault and not some freaky Mother Nature moment. You couldn’t be mad around him when he was like that.
Instead, the two of you made your way back home, dried off then made a warm cocoon with each other in your bed.
Thus, you spent your morning cuddling with your giant boyfriend while watching the rain fall from the sky. You thought it was a worthwhile trade-off.
Luke had just climbed back into bed, handing you a water bottle, and curled back into you, his head nudging his way under your chin. You moved one of your hands to run through his hair, dragging your nails along his scalp.
“You know, your hair is really soft babe,” the words slipped out of you before you realized it.
“Yeah?” Luke’s voice let you know that he was halfway to falling asleep. It didn’t surprise you -- this sort of day was made for napping and dozing and laying about.
“The softest,” you settled back into both the bed and Luke. You were catching the sleeping bug and wanted to get comfy before it took you.
“Love you, babe.”
“Love ya too.”

Ten Minutes and Thirty Years (Shirley Crain x Reader)
Tumblr media
Requested by anon: Hot take- the Crain siblings like to make fun of Shirley’s whole “ten minutes and thirty seconds” thing when it came to Theo and the bridesmaid, but they shut up real quick when Shirley fires back with no one realized you two were dating until they walking in on you two half naked in Shirley’s apartment on the couch. (They didn’t think she was home and wanted to surprise her 😬) 🦇
Words: 1042
You and Shirley have never gone this long without having sex before, and you could feel the pressure between your legs build with every minute you didn’t have her touch. It has been over a week since you were in between Shirley’s legs making her moan, and you needed to hear her beg for you again. The mortuary will be closing soon, and you fully intended to take your frustration out on your girlfriend in her office as soon as the doors closed for business and you were heading home.
Before long, you heard the door close, and you heard the clicking of Shirley’s heels on the floor as she made her way back to the office. You quickly moved to the door and pressed Shirley in a kiss as soon as she made her way to the door. Your sudden warmth took your girlfriend by surprise, so it took a second for her to return your kiss.
Shirley seemed unable to detach herself from your lips, but when she did she was flushed and smiling. “Baby, not that I don’t like this, but didn’t you say that we should keep things professional in the office?”
“Which is why I’ve decided to wait until we get back home. I seem to remember a certain couch that has been a particular favorite of yours throughout the many months we’ve been dating.” The blush that spread over Shirley’s face betrayed how turned on she was, and she quickly went over to her desk to get her keys.
Before long, the two of you were in her car heading home. However, you were not one to wait as your hand slowly made its way up her leg to her thigh. You knew that Shirley was turned on by the way she tensed her leg against your hand, and this only gave you more reason to move your hand further up. It only took one hand to undo the zipper on her pants, and you slid your fingers inside the opening. Her panties were already soaked through, and you smirked as you pushed them aside and inserted your fingers where she needed you the most. Shirley couldn’t resist moaning as your fingers slid easily into her, and you gave out a disapproving noise.
“Eyes on the road, baby.” You knew what you were doing was driving your girlfriend crazy, but that was the consequence of leaving you to yourself for over a week. It was easy to tell how wet Shirley was for you by the ease with which your fingers went in and out of her, and just as she rolled her hips on your hand you took your hand away. The sudden absence of your fingers combined with the lack of relief made Shirley whine with need, and you quickly shushed her. “Don’t worry, babe. I have an even bigger reward for you back home if you promise to be a good girl.”
Shirley got you back to her apartment in record time and quickly parked the car. You were pretty sure she never took her foot off the gas pedal on the way home, and she held on to your hand as she dragged you back home. She didn’t wait for you to catch your breath before leading you over to the couch and waiting for you to straddle her lap before practically ripping your shirt off.
“Somebody’s eager to start,” you teased.
“Mmm,” Shirley couldn’t bring herself to detach herself from your boob as her hands slid down your back towards your butt.  She didn’t know how much she missed touching your body like this until you had left her on the edge in her car, and she was determined to make sure she got all of her frustrations out here in her apartment. You could tell how much she missed you by the way she kissed her way down your exposed body, and you hurriedly moved to unbutton her blouse. It was only fair that you got to touch her the same way as Shirley’s little moans became more urgent. Both of you were so lost in touching each other that neither of you heard the key insert itself in Shirley’s front door, and the only warning you received was a scream.
“Oh my God!” Nell was standing at the entrance of the door with her hand over her eyes. Her squeak would have been cute if you weren’t half-naked on her sister, and you attempted to use your shirt to cover what was left of your dignity. Theo attempted to hide a snigger that caused Shirley’s blush to deepen, and Luke trying to hide a smirk that was all too obvious.
“Looks like somebody’s finally getting some action in.” Theo smirked as she walked in with a tray of cookies.
“Since when were the two of you together? I kept trying to set you up with people who I thought you would like!” Nell looked insulted as she set the cake down on the table.
“We’ve been dating for almost a year now. All of you love talking about me taking 10 minutes and 30 years to figure out that Theo loved bridesmaids, and yet none of you figured out that (Y/N) and I had been dating.” Shirley pulled you closer to her on her lap, and now it was your turn to blush.
“Maybe we should leave them alone to finish what they started.” Theo gave you a wink. “Make sure to be loud enough for us to hear you as we leave.”
“Theo! Stop it.” Steve came in and kissed Shirley on the cheek. “It’s nice to see you with someone, Shirley.”
“Well, it does explain why you’ve been looking so happy and relaxed for the last couple of months.” Luke couldn’t help himself from making a few smooching noises as he sat next to you. “So you’re the reason why my sister looks like she’s got the healthiest glow in the world when she comes to work.”
“Luke! Enough!” Shirley’s face looked red enough to set itself on fire, and Theo was having too much fun listening in to the conversation. “I want to eat something.”
“Oh, we all know who you want to eat.”
“Theo!”

When you’d first met Luke, he looked halfway in the ground. An addict who’d bounced from rehab centre to rehab centre. He’d been to nearly every centre in the city. He’d lied to his family, stolen from his siblings and missed his sister’s wedding.
You’d honestly seen it too many times before in other clients, they’d stay a week, maybe two, then leave and never be seen again. You worried Luke would be the same way but a week turned into a month and a month turned into three and you could see now, that without the heroin, he was a smart, funny and handsome guy who’d had an awful run in luck and a very unusual upbringing.
He’d taken longer than most of your patients to open up but when he had he’d talked for almost 45 minutes straight and when your clock had signalled the end of the session you’d turned it off and talked through your lunch hour.
Your colleagues were impressed and somewhat in awe that you’d managed to get him to open up.
Luke had looked at you and asked if you thought he was crazy. If you believed him. He looked so lost and you felt like in that moment you could see right through him like a window.
You’d told him of course you didn’t think he was crazy.
You never knew if you believed in ghosts or ghouls or anything however you did know Luke must have seen something awful as a child. Trauma in addicts was not uncommon and it would certainly explain a lot.
You’d grown to look forward to your bi-weekly sessions, more so than you looked forward to any other clients. You’d first thought maybe it was because Luke Crain was probably the most interesting man you’d ever met...
**
Luke knew you were different to the other case workers. You didn’t look at him with pity like the others did. You treated him like a friend and not like another hopeless case.
He’d be lying to himself if he said he didn’t often lie awake thinking about you. He’d thought about asking you out more than once but just didn’t think you’d want to.
Why would a pretty, intelligent woman like yourself be interested in a Semi-reformed addict.
**time skip**
Your personal phone rang with an unknown number jolting you awake.
A husky voice came through the phone “Y/N, it’s Luke.” You shot up and looked at your alarm. The light blinking that it was 3am. “Sorry to call so late, I needed someone to talk to,”
“Did you...did you relapse Luke? It’s okay if you did, I can still help you,” you rubbed the sleep from your eyes and propped yourself up.
You had to ask. You’d been worried about him in the time he’d gone.
His breath was shaking down the phone. “No...I’ve...it’s a long story...but I promise I’m clean. Please. Can I have my bed back,” Luke felt a little like a child asking. He thought you’d think he was pathetic.
You swung your legs over the bed. “Where are you Luke? I’ll come get you,”
**
He met you outside of his brothers house. Luke looked...surprisingly fresh. You’d expected him to have looked on deaths door.
On the journey back, he explained to you where he’d been despite you reassuring him that he didn’t owe you an explanation.
He told you how he’d took off to find his friend Joey...you’d always worried she’d be a bad influence on him. Joey had been nine months clean when she left but she always seemed like she was only semi serious about her recovery.
She’d mugged him and left him to wander alone until his brother found him.
Luke had the. gone to stay with his other sister for his twins funeral and had ended up going back to the house that caused him so much trauma. He’d had what you assumed may have been a traumatic hallucination whether it was induced by ghosts or by his illness you didn’t know. and he’d ingested poison.
For the past week he’d been recovering in hospital.
“I promised her. I promised Nellie, I have to get my spot back,” Luke pleaded with you. A part of you was furious that your co worker had turned him away after he’d been mugged.
“I owe her that after being a shit brother for years,” he gave you a smile but you could see in his eyes that his joke hurt him.
“Please. Please help me,”
“I’ll see what I can do,”
**
It had taken a fair bit of convincing to let Luke have a bed back and he was told to take numerous tests but eventually Paige, the lead caseworker relented and allowed Luke back in.
After this you kept up your bi-weekly sessions with him, sometimes you’d even eat lunch together and the day Luke got his six months clean chip and a visit pass he asked you to come with him to meet his family.
Shirley, his older sister was having a family dinner and wanted to meet you after Luke had talked about you non-stop on his phone calls home.
You’d been nervous. He’d spoken so much about his siblings and you wanted to make a good impression.
**
The dinner had gone fantastically. Shirley was an amazing cook and the pasta bake she had made was so good you’d had seconds.
Luke’s family welcomed you in as if you were one of their own. You even bonded with Steve who Luke had advised you was always sceptical of his friends.
Luke watched you from the door way. You and Shirley were giggling over an old photo album and just watching you made him feel at home.
“Your girlfriends nice,”
He turned to face Theo, who was cradling a drink in her hand.
“I don’t know if I can call her my girlfriend, Theo I mean...” Luke ran a hand through his hair and shrugged.
“Luke that girl has spent all afternoon, talking to Shirl about you as a kid, asking to see pictures of you, if you can’t see she likes you, I think we need to take you back to the hospital to get your eyes checked,”
Luke laughed “you think?”
Theo winked “I know, go ask her,”
Luke watched you for another moment and when you looked up and caught his eye he gestured for you to come over.
“What’s up,” you spoke with a smile.
“Are we...what...what is this, you and me?” Luke attempted to ask. Apparently he’d forgotten how to speak in the past five minutes.
He took a deep breath and started over “I mean, are we dating?”
You laughed and reached for his hand “I’d like to think so, I hope you don’t invite all your case workers for family dinners,”
Luke grinned and you felt yourself melt.
“Anyway, I’m going to get back to the photo album, Shirley was just about to show me some adorable ones of you in the school play,”
You turned to head back to your seat where the other woman was waiting with a new photo album, when you were interrupted by Luke once more.
“Shirley Crain, don’t you dare...”

Mistletoe- Theo Crain
Tumblr media
Pairing: Theo Crain x Reader
Characters: Theo Crain
Warnings: N/A
Request: Anon- would you please do 14. “Oh how convenient, some mistletoe” with Theo Crain? thank you
Word Count: 414
Author: Charlotte
Although neither you or your girlfriend Theo were massive fans of Christmas, you still wanted to add some festive cheer to your home and decorate it for the holidays. She went into the loft in Shirley’s house and grabbed the two boxes that contained all your decorations along with the tied up fake tree. There was a good variety of Christmas decorations for you to pick from so the two of you started to get to work.
You worked together to get the tree to stand and stretch out all of the branches to try and make it look full and beautiful, before Theo went to untangle all of the tinsel whilst you started to put all the baubles onto the tree. Your back begun to ache from crouching down to grab decorations and then stretching up to reach the top of the tree. When you had reached about half of the tree full of baubles, you heard Theo laugh from behind you.
Peering over your shoulder, you saw Theo looking down at something inside of the box she was working through, but it was obscured of the mass of tinsel.
“What?” You questioned.
Theo stood up, holding onto the item until she was on her feet. She reached her arm up, revealing the sprig of fake leaves that you recognised fondly from the previous years of Christmas.
“Oh, how convenient, some mistletoe,” she laughed, putting fake excitement in her voice.
You rolled your eyes at her, discarding the bauble in your hand back to the box and headed over to your girlfriend.
“if you just wanted me to stop decorating to come over to kiss you, you could have just asked,” you smiled.
Stepping onto your tiptoes, you looped your arms around her neck to help pull her down to kiss you sweetly under the mistletoe.
“Maybe I’ll have to hang this up,” she chuckled. “Maybe there is something good about Christmas.”
“Well I’m glad that you have found something that you enjoy about the festive season, even if it’s just an excuse for the two of us to get close,” you said. “Not that you need an excuse.”
Theo shrugged her shoulders, throwing the leaves away from the two of you so that she could put both hands onto you, pulling you as close to her as she possibly could. You gratefully accepted a second kiss, letting the two of you forget about the decorating and just become lost in one another.
