The Greatest Flight

Part 2/? of Taking Charge of My Life

Previously

We got to say goodbye one more time before the announcer said that flight LA555 is boarding. I said my last goodbye to my parents and walked through the gate. I found my seat and sat down until it was time to take off. Just as the doors closed, a really cute guy and his semi-cute friend sat next to me on the plane. Well, maybe this flight won't be as boring as I thought.

(Y/N POV)

When I found my seat, it was the window seat! I have only been on a plane a few times in my life and the experiences were awful. Being terrified by heights and afraid of the airplane plummeting to Earth, not a good combination when flying. I would have driven but from my hometown, it would have taken about 23 hours and 46 minutes to get there, so I decided to spend half a day flying and sitting in airports than to drive for two days.

As I took my seat, I looked out the window of the plane and was thinking of all the things and people I would miss. I started to think of my mother, I was the last biological child to leave the house. My mind drifted to my siblings, out of the nine, I would miss seven of them. My older step-sisters were never around so I don't really count them. I felt tears welling up in my eyes as I thought of my five brothers, Cory (25), Brendan (23), Stefan (15), Kaison (14), and Josiah (11). Then, I started to remember all the times my sisters and I spent shopping and just had girl time. I will miss my younger to sisters, Heaven (15) and Amelia (10).

As a single tear rolled down my cheek, I heard a thud that pulled me out of my thoughts. I looked up to saw two men putting something in the overhead bin. At first, I couldn't see their faces but once the bin was closed. I couldn't help staring at the second man that stood in the aisle. The first man had unusually pale skin, like that of a china doll and blue eyes that made the ocean envious. The second guy had a fair skin tone. After I laughed a little, which I tried to hold in, the two men looked at me and smiled. The first one moved out of the way so the second guy could sit next to me. When they were both seated, the first one introduced himself.

“Hi, I’m Sean, and this is my friend Mark,” said Sean, who extended his out hand.

“Well, hi, I'm Caitlin. It is nice to meet the two of you,” I responded back and stuck my hand out to shake their hands.

“So, are you head to L.A. or to Denver?” Ethan asked.

“I am headed to L.A. I have some friends that live out there and I have been meaning to go” I let my voice fade away because I saw Mark pretending not to really listen but he was paying attention to what I said.

��Oh, so you are just going to visit. You are going to love L.A. and there are many cool things that you should have your friends take you to.”

“What. Oh, sorry, no I am not going to be visiting, I finally had enough money to be able to move out there and be near my friends and to hopefully grow my career.”

After what seemed like years of silence from Mark, he turned to face me and asked:

“I feel like I know you from somewhere, have you been to a convention or L.A. before?”

“I did go to a convention a few years ago in Boston for some friends who did a panel, but other than that, no, I haven't been to conventions or even L.A. before.”

“I just had déjà vu that I have seen you before...wait,” Mark said as he pulled out his phone.

Just as he pulled out his phone to open an app, a voice came on and started to give instructions. As the stewardess said all electronics off, Mark, with a fake pouty face, looked at me and he said he would just have to wait. I couldn't help but let out a chuckle because of the face he made.

Now that I look at him properly, I could not help noticing how cute he was. He hair was tousled from running his fingers through it. And those eyes, his are reminded me of the forest and the autumnal leaves, the soil in summer and after the rains, or water flowing down the ever-winding glen that seeps into the Earth. After talking for a few more minutes, I saw movement out the corner of my right eye and I turned to look out the window. It was going to be a long flight.
