Bonus story under the cut!

Heung Dae Young was just your average doctor who has his own clinic in Salem.

Known for treating all kinds of possible wounds, barring full body burns, he has continued his practices for decades now.

Despite the Mayor’s attempts to have his clinic shut down due to “witchcraft presence” being prevalent in his clinic, the town doctor still treated the ungrateful mayor.

But with looming threat of the spread of an unidentified disease, the doctor was driven to exhaustion trying to prevent such a calamity.

Was it even real?

Sometimes he wondered.

After all, those threats only ever happened in his dreams.

And yet, the Plaguebearer that haunted him felt too real.

There were times he came face to face with an eldritch being, one that took the form of a crow with glowing green eyes, it’s sickly aura staring deep into the doctor’s eyes.

And it always said one thing before the dream was shattered by the morning bells.

A thing that the doctor used to say.

“BE NOT AFRAID”

The Throne woke up in a cold sweat.

When I’m feeling depressed, it can be nearly impossible to take care of myself, and that includes eating. Here’s a list of some foods that require little to no effort (aka: can be eaten right out of the package or just need to be microwaved), mainly for my personal reference, but also so others can find easier alternatives when they’re struggling.

Water bottles or canned water - stay hydrated!!

vegetables - green beans, peas, corn, black/kidney/pinto beans, chickpeas (all canned or microwaveable frozen bags) - I’ve also tried Harvest Snaps, which are baked snap peas & they’re v good

Fruit - grapes, raisins (or any other dried fruit like apricots/dates), mandarin oranges, apples, applesauce cups, bananas, pears, peaches, etc. (most fruits require no prep anyway, but especially if they’re canned - you can also buy frozen bags)

Canned soup or chicken, beef, or veggie broth

Pasta (ramen, spaghetti, mac and cheese, chow mein) or instant rice are my go-tos. You can buy these in individual cups or bulk packs.

Any microwaveable food - frozen/tv dinners, burritos, toaster strudels (they make an egg bacon & cheese version too!), mini pizzas, breakfast sandwiches… there’s a lot you could do here :)

Dairy - Yogurt, cheese sticks, (or just straight up eat cheese slices, there are no rules here), cottage cheese, almond/oat/soy milk, powdered milk (if you want something shelf-stable)

Grains & carbs - cereal, crackers, chips, popcorn, toast or bagels (I’ve eaten plain bread before tbh and it kinda slaps), Oatmeal (these packets are dinosaur themed & have little sugar eggs!! - https://www.quakeroats.com/products/hot-cereals/instant-oatmeal/dinosaur-eggs)

Nuts - peanuts, peanut butter, almonds, cashews, walnuts, trail mix, etc.

Meat - deli turkey, trail bologna, spam, jerky, frozen chicken strips or nuggets, Morningstar vegetarian corn dogs, canned tuna

Eggs

Fast food or take-out is also a good option if you don’t feel like making anything yourself.

A little tip - most foods you would take on a camping or hiking trip are great! for some, all you need to do is add water & heat it up. they are usually on the expensive side, though!! here’s some I’ve found that are decent:

Things to keep on hand for particularly bad days:

⁠Boost/ensure/Soylent - liquid meals for when the idea of chewing or mixing anything is too much.

⁠disposable cutlery/bowls/utensils so you don’t have more dishes to worry about.

Multivitamins

Liquid IV, Gatorade, or some other form of electrolytes. It’s too easy to get dehydrated!

If you do have a little energy to cook or make something, here’s some ideas:

If you have a blender: frozen spinach + frozen banana + shelf stable almond milk + peanut butter makes a great smoothie.

frozen fruit + frozen spinach/kale for smoothies

Adding whey protein makes it more filling.

⁠dried pasta + jarred pasta sauce (Rao’s is low sugar and awesome, but pricey) + frozen meatballs

Boil tortellini on hand. Its as easy as boiling water. You can eat it plain, add a spoonful of pesto, sprinkle with a little olive oil or butter and some garlic salt, or pour it back in the pan after draining and add a little pasta sauce

⁠frozen fried rice + frozen stir fry veggies

⁠favorite frozen protein and veggies for sheet pan meals

⁠canned refried beans with a tortilla and some cheese to microwave, can add extra toppings too

⁠oatmeal + pb + dried fruit of choice

⁠rice cakes + pb + jam (or substitute bread if you have it)

Rotisserie chicken in a salad, soup, sandwich or wrap

Frozen salmon with some veggies

air fryer foods - chicken nuggets, tenders, fries, etc. You can also toss different vegetables (baby carrots, Brussels sprouts, etc.) in a little olive oil and throw them in there

chicken broth & frozen dumplings - you can dress it up a little with some miso, soy sauce or other seasonings. You could also add some frozen vegetables.

snack type food - a combination of canned Garbanzo beans and black olives. The olives are salty enough that you can get low sodium beans and it will still taste good.

With recent developments, I'm moving to Aethy and DW. You can track me down here on DW, and I'm still iffy on Aethy, but I'm going by PB there. I don't even like any underage ships, but the tos is so vague and deliberately misleading that it makes me nervous. This feels like Strikethrough. Like. If just talking about minors and sex can get you termed, what about immortal teen characters? What about countries where the aoc is lower than America? What about victims?? It's just so fucked up, and I kind of expected better. I assumed that tumblr taking the side of antis was just an abuse team being overwhelmed issue, but this is ridiculous, and I assume kink will be next. Thank you so much for getting me back into hetalia, and into shipping in general. it was thanks to people like you that shipping could be fun again, and I'll keep pursuing happiness. <3

honestly i'm reconsidering returning to this site too, the whole trouble tumblr put me through trying to get my blogs back already got me so damn tired and now i'm even more tired with this development. i have a dreamwidth too (rose-et-iris) and i might consider going to aethy too but atm it's like. Okay, so this is pretty hard, but I’m going with some instinct here... Like @afhenley said, I also had a regulated TV watching childhood. And I got sucked in to anime right when it was becoming much more widely available in the US, so I had that nice weird mix of bootlegs sourced from older dudes who suspiciously only had friends in highschool and below and like... TV dubs.

But I guess I should start with

Gundam Wing

DID YOU GUESS THAT THE LEGACY ANIME ABOUT MILITARY PHILOSOPHY AND INTERPERSONAL CONFLICT THAT WAS ALSO A WEE BIT GAY WOULD BE INFLUENTIAL? well then you get a cookie.

The Adventures of Pete & Pete

I don’t know if it’s actually a forgotten classic, but it feels like a forgotten classic and I own the DVD sets. Grunge-alternative influenced, slightly gonzo semi-fantasy about suburbia’s inherent nonsensicalness and... friendship.

The Haunting of Hill House

Blatantly stealing this from Henly to appear somewhat modern. But also I loved this show. It’s a good example of how fundamentally different something something can be when you change the message, but that doesn’t necessarily make it bad. I am still waiting for a really good adaptation of the actual story though. Very happy to rewatch this a million times in the meantime.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Yes, I chose the seasons 3-6 image over the station because I wanted people who weren’t familiar to be able to see the CAST. the CAAAAST. So I watched a bit of Star Trek as a youth as reruns came on TV, but did a watch through of all the series from TOS until Enterprise killed me. DS9 is so good. So good.

Horatio Hornblower

Honestly some of this is just stuff I own. This is an obvious choice when you realize I am into maritime history. and a huge nerd. The pictures are getting bigger because I don’t know what I’m doing.

Ren & Stimpy

LOOK, it was either this or Beavis and Butthead, and I think this one edges them out because I wasn’t technically allowed to watch MTV late enough to catch Beavis and Butthead. You want to talk about problematic creators? here’s a way to, through what was genuinely a discomfiting and absurdist and hilarious show. As far as I know Mike Judge is cool. But I did watch this one more. and quote it occasionally.

Queer as Folk (American version)

Yet another show I watched when I wasn’t supposed to watching TV and only when special preview weekends or deals meant that our cable company was carrying it for free. But I met nice people through Queer as Folk and learned a lot and also saw a lot of penises. or very nearly. it was hard to tell through the snow.

PBS Mystery

Probably part of why I love Edward Gorey (or at least, a large part of why I’m familiar with him - I might love him because his work is great). This is a weird one because it was kind of treat, but I also kind of hated it? Like, you never knew what you would get, and it was cool, and I loved watching it with my Mom, but it was never regular thing and sometimes my little kid brain just wasn’t turning at the rpm that let me enjoy it.

A UGC group that steals IP for UGC items

On Roblox, the UGC program has already been a mess, and with Roblox planning on enabling UGC access to all verified users who are in good standing, some bad actors will get around this. This problem goes beyond just the UGC catalog, as evident from a group that sells items which obviously came from various copyrighted commercials and shows.

"We Are Powered By YOUR Memories" Seems obvious enough. As it turns out, this group does in fact upload stuff that they knowingly took from third-party companies.

If you have not noticed already, the group does upload stolen IP from third party companies such as Kellogg's, Fallout, Disney, and PBS. Furthermore, the group did not credit or receive authorization from these companies to upload these items, which violates the ToS prohibiting copyrighted content.

Does this item look familiar to you? This is the pirate from the Kellogg's Cap'n Crunch cereal box. As you can see, this is actually not the only stolen IP. In fact, loads of other UGC items from this group come from various copyrighted characters.

This is a recipe for another lawsuit, similar to the audio lawsuit that was filed against Roblox a couple of years ago, and considering how serious this is, I would not be surprised if Roblox actually got sued for the UGC program's big copyright problem.
