This is going to sound weird but in relation to your last post, when I had terrible art block and the joy felt leeched out of making art, drawing fetish art is what actually got me creating again. It felt fresh and fun and genuinely like playing instead of forcing myself to make art because “that’s just what I do” So idk, if you have a fetish try making some art of that and see what happens? Or ignore this.
genuinely i have been considering this lol

I think some often-overlooked context for gideon's sacrifice at the end of GTN is that, if gideon survives, harrow asked her to return to drearburh.
of course, harrow's plan of I'll-hold-the-lyctor-off-you-and-cam-jump-into-the-sea is dogshit, not going to work etc. of course gideon is a perpetual Good Girl, a butch in shining armor--she's a saint. she's jesus christ. I don’t mean at all to undermine her selflessness, but in her panic i can't help but think the threat of the ninth house made the choice much simpler.
let's go back to the beginning of GTN to the amalgam of everybody's worst hometown:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
gideon the ninth, chapter 1
gideon's entire life has been a series of escape attempts. in canaan house her relationship to harrow undergoes a metamorphosis, but behind her is eighteen years of trying--relentlessly--to run from a cold dark place that she is beholden to. (whenever beholden comes up in this series at least 8 alarms go off in my head and i drop whatever i'm holding).
Tumblr media
gideon the ninth, chapter 4
I think aiglamene understands drearburh is inherently soul-killing in a way that harrow does not. harrow genuinely loves her house (which, to her, is the Tomb). gideon was never allowed to love the ninth house--it rejected her at every opportunity. harrow, however, threw herself into it wholesale. she had nothing else.
skip to the pool scene. harrow receives absolution and a emotionally charged tender forehead kiss (top 10 lesbian baptisms of all time). they are finally on the same side, out from under drearburh's shadow. they can trust each other. then harrow, with her seventeen years of pining, obsession, and isolation, asks gideon something truly fucking awful:
Tumblr media
gideon the ninth, chapter 35
in harrow's mind, the locked tomb (specifically) has served as her reprieve. it is The Thing For Which She Suffers It All, and so it must be good. harrow sees herself as the thing that poisoned gideon, because she IS the ninth house, and she hates herself. I genuinely don't think harrow understands the depth of cruelty in this ask at all. in harrow's mind she is saving gideon and protecting The Body.
and as cytherea bears down on them, harrow reminds her:
Tumblr media
gideon the ninth, chapter 37
if harrow sacrifices herself, gideon owes her AND gets abandoned. gideon has to go back and protect the tomb, back to a life she could not bear long before she had ever seen the sea and the sky, before kind-hearted house scions and princesses with swords. the chains would be slapped on. gideon would not get out twice. not even in a box.
gideon can die neatly and heroically, like a protagonist in a comic book—she can save harrow, save camilla, get vengeance for lost friends, carry out the last wish of jeanmarry and isaac, who she so badly let down—or she can live and return to drearburh.
Tumblr media
gideon the ninth, chapter 37
Tumblr media
gideon the ninth, chapter 37 (final line before the epilogue in harrow's POV).
of course she chooses the fence.

the problem with jason’s writing post resurrection is that like. you spend all this time while he was gone building up these batfam characters and their views and morals and way of interacting with each other and their world. and then you bring back this one character who’s been dead for however long, but an insanely long period of however long, and you’ve made it so his worldview has become drastically different than what he was being taught. then you dump the antagonist route completely and start trying to figure out how to bring him back into the fold.
but once again, you’ve spent around 15yrs expanding these characters separately from jason todd. so what do you do? you mold and reform what jason is meant to be post resurrection until he fits into those standards. its what makes sense to do. how can you justify the batfam characters doing an almost complete 180. maybe a 90. on their views purely because of one character? purely because of jason todd when nothing has set ever been able to set that change in motion beforehand? so now jason has to be the one to change. except the change completely contradicts all the beliefs he’s formed in his post resurrection plot-line.
and now jason todd as a character becomes bland. he becomes a victim to bad writing and character assassinations. he’s wishy washy. nobody knows what to do with him so his character and the characters he interacts with only continue to suffer as a result. everybody begins to stop taking him and his stances seriously. all because you’ll never remove him from the sources that led to the origin of jason todd.
a batfam character away from batfam? well now why would the writers ever think to do that!

Headcanon #69: Because Minds arms are made of metal, Heart sometimes just sticks refrigerator magnets on him. Also if he has enough time to do so, like is Mind was sleeping, Heart would pin a note to him aswell.
(Very stupid things like “kick me” “im an asshole” or messages TO Mind that's like “fuck you” or “ur mom”)

After Azran Legacy Descole was left with a lot of clothes, personal items, and various souvenir trinkets left behind by the other former passengers of the Bostonious none of which was ever properly retrieved due to the groups sudden parting.
Rather than throwing it all out Descole has been trying to covertly return all items back to their original owners and because it’s Descole he’s probably returning the objects and whatnot in the most complicated way possible over a period of time.
Auroras stuff in particular remains safely stored in a box on the Bostonious.
#professor Layton#jean descole#desmond sycamore#gens musings#wowie headcanons :)#azran legacy#i was thinking about how everyone in the bostonious crew was suckered into buying one of those popono souvenirs#and how Des was ultimately left with a hoard of them because there's no way that anyone got to properly collect their stuff#before having to rush off to the Azran sanctuary#thoroughly amused by the thought of Des trying to offload some of this stuff for way longer than needbe bc hes trying to be sneaky about it#like maybe he could just throw it away but absolutely has this lingering sense of guilt especially with more of the personal items#that would've belonged to the various members that he would now have context for#like idk Des is just standing over the trash with like a teddy bear that Luke owns n he cant bring himself to properly toss it#and raymonds like why dont we just mail them back#n des is like “akshdkajshdkjahsdkhasdk its stupud little beady little eyes have won this encounter- u win this time sir cuddles-”#“had i not known the context of your origins you would have been in a landfill by now”#wonder if emmy wouldve gotten any photos developed on their trip bc oooh the evil thought of des having to review them b4 sending them back#I think there was no attempt to toss auroras stuff at any point i think the guilt would actually kill him#most of her stuff would just comprised of souvenirs gained over the trip#HELP HELP HELP I ELABORATED TOO MUCH IN THE TAGS SORRY

I might not do anything with this BUT I've been thinking about the Shadow of Mordor games again and how FUN would it be if Sauron did that but instead of bringing back Celebrimbor he uses his necromancy magic to bring back Maedhros
An imposingly tall figure, all done up in Sauron's spikey black armor, instead of his mace there is a wicked black blade where a right hand should be. He roams at the front of the Nazgul, blade at the ready as the other holds the reigns to a monstrous horse
People are terrified, thinking that Sauron himself is roaming the wilds, he stalks the Fellowship, nothing seems to stop him only delay him. Gandalf isn't sure its Sauron himself, but something about him under all that twisted and dark and evil song sings pure, like a dull flicker of white flame, like a weak candle.
When Boromir dies, that figure is with the orcs, it isnt the one to slay Boromir, but turns away and it seems to know where the ring is. The orcs are too focused on Merry and Pipin to follow the Figure, but he walks off. He stands on the shores as Frodo and Sam shiver in the Swan boat, but it does nothing but watch them as they sail off. It makes no motion to follow them or attack their small boat, just watch transfixed. Sam makes a comment that it looks like the Figure's armor makes it almost like it has a metal collar around its neck and cuffs on its wrists
During the battle of Helm's Deep, that Figure is back again, silently leading the siege. At one point, an Elven arrow hits the Figure's helm, knocking it a little loose and from under the helm tumbles a single red lock of hair. Its so red that almost looks like a smoldering flame. Haldir, who lives with the survivors of Doriath, sees that red hair, that tall stature, the handless right wrist and pales. While he wasn't there to witness the destruction of Doriath, he has heard the tales, he knows about the red haired monster that haunts the memories of the Sindar, and he knows what that Figure is capable of. Luckily, that Figure manages to catch a glimpse of Aragorn, and Freezes once again, a single stone that cuts through the rushing current of orcs all around him. Haldir doesn't see it again, but then again, Haldir doesn't see much of anything again.
(The Figure sees Gandalf on the hill, arriving with the dawn and reinforcments and it grieves, something in it breaks all over again but the magic puppeting its moves doesn't allow it to dwell. The helm is readjusted and the hair is tucked away and the Figure turns and leaves the battlefield. Its being summonded somewhere else.)
The war rages on, the Witch King is dead, but so is King Theoden. The Figure is trapped, the right wrist is pinned under the corpse of an oliphant and Elrond's sons watch as the Figure struggles before lying still. It's clearly not dead, but realizing it's trapped.
Aragorn and Legolas and Gimli join the twins. Gimli offers to thrust his axe in its chest, Legolas insists that he can shoot through its eye from a safer distance. Aragorn, who heard Haldir's frantic pleas during his final moments, just observes the Figure.
He notices the strange collar, how it clearly has cuffs on its wrist and feet, like it used to be shackled and chained.
"Can you speak?" He asks it.
The Figure does nothing but turn its helm towards Aragorn. They stare at each other for a few tense moments.
One of the twins, Aragorn still isn't fully sure which one, approches the Figure slowly. The Figure's helm is still directed at Aragorn.
"It feels familiar." The one twin whispers, voice raw from exertion. "It has a fea, it feels warm."
"Like uncle Erestor. Or Lindir." The other twin agrees.
The Figure turns its helm towards the twins at the mention of Erestor. The twin closest to the Figure, quick as an adder, jabs a polearm at the Figure's helm.
It snaps back, the helm tumbling off the Figure's head and those smoldering red locks fan out around the head, obscuring the face from view.
Even without seeing the face it's clearly an Elf. An abused one at that if one just looks at the notches missing from it's pointed ears. The polearm is back, nudging under where a chin should be to lift the face.
First, all that is seen is scars. So many that pull the once handsome face, for even under all its marring one can tell from the bone structure that this was a face that could launch a thousand ships, into a grotesque manner. But it is the eyes, the eyes that makes everyone suck in a breath.
These eyes glow, they glow with power, with light never been seen before, or well, haven't been seen in Ages. These grey eyes glow with the reflected light of the Two Trees, long since felled.
"Oh, Maitimo," Gandalf, who had wandered up the the group, sighed with tremendous sorrow. "What has become of you?"
Maitimo, or Maedhros as those in the Third Age know him as, tries to speak. His lips move, which brings attention to the fact that they are loosely sewn together with a black cord that seems to pull and ooze blood, never letting the wounds heal. His voice croaks, dry with misuse, but he manages a sound, a breath, perphaps even a word. Each syllable like a dying wheeze. He repeats the sound, again and again, almost becoming frantic with his wheezing chants, blood spilling down his chin from the threads, until it's understandable.
"Necromancer."
#amber rambles#silmarillion#maedhros#maitimo#silm fic#Iotr#I personally think it would be Fun and Seasonal if Mae becomes a zombie puppet for Sauron#like I already think that because of the Oath and because of his time with Morgoth and Sauron he wouldnt be able to die or hear Mandos Call#And I think Sauron would be a petty bitch enough to bring back Mae as a fun little HaHa Deal With THIS Emotional Trauma Elrond U Ass#I couldnt decide if I wanted Mae to deal with Aragorn and the fellowship or with frodo and sam but I figured if hes being puppeted#he would go after aragorn HOWEVER a fun little alternative i have#is that he goes after frodo and sam and they end up in Shelobs cave and Mae is gonna kill the hobbits but the Liquid Starlight#snaps some of his Sauron Mind Control off and activates his Omg Oath!! brain and he fights Shelob off the hobbits to grab it#and he knows he cant grab the vial cause hes Literally a figure of evil now but he just sits there and stares at it#and Little Sam goes up to him slowly and asks#If you want that vial i can help you but you must not hurt Mr Frodo anymore do you promise?#And Mae nods his head. promising.#so Sam cuts off a corner of his cloak and wraps the vial in it and hands it over to Mae who just hold the cloth bundle and begins to shake#he sobs. big wheezes and moans that cant make it past his sewn lips but he tries and Sam runs off to save Frodo while he does that#Then once gollum tosses himself and the ring into the lava and the world is crumbling around them Mae appears in the cave opening#to scoop up the tired hobbits and carry them to safety not caring about lava chasing after them. He collapses once the eagels come#Sam tries to get them to take Mae as well. But they dont and he screams and Mae just takes off his helm and smiles#He holds up the wrapped vial in his hand and with his bladed hand he cuts through the threads on his lips and shouts up to the sky#Thank You! A New Dawn Shall Rise!! and the eagles fly higher and farther and sam cant see it but he knows the lava swallowed him up#and a new dawn does rise. It rises on a new Age with a new king and a wedding and painful goodbyes and a new beginning

I’m back to thinking about SJ avatar style, so get ready for some rambling.
CW: mentions of trauma and abuse via administered electric shocks
One thing’s stuck in my head about this particular AU of an AU. Leading up to the revolution where animatronics are granted rights, I would think one of the main driving forces behind that is animatronics discovering the ability to bend as well. Up until then, they’ve been treated as machines beneath humans. Not all humans can bend, but they are the sole beings who can. That is, until animatronics discover on their own that they have the ability to bend water, air, earth, and fire—lightning, metal, lava, and ice, every and any iteration of the four elements—just like humans can.
I don’t think it would take them long to discover that they are equivalent to humans in this manner. So in an effort to control the animatronics and hide their bending prowess to further the mindset that humans are above machines, chi blockers would be introduced. Maybe in this specific world, it’s a chip inserted into the animatronics that keeps them from connecting to the elements or figuring out if they even can bend. But nothing can ever be kept silent forever, and when word gets out about this process, advocation for animatronic rights begins to ramp up full throttle. You can only bury the truth for so long before someone else comes around and digs it up.
That’s all to say that I believe the extraction of these chi blocking chips, while severely dangerous but doable with the correct knowledge and force, is exactly what the daycare attendants learn. It starts with Eclipse enduring a terrible cruel shock from the owners for not responding to their call quick enough. What they don’t account for is how this continued abuse is just what he needs in order to dismantle the chip that’s kept him from an intrinsic part of himself since his creation.
In the shadows of the daycare one night, he unscrews the panel in the back of his head, finds the partially working chip, and rips it out.
He blacks out and comes to hours later, hooked up to a charging port and the owners screaming at him because they’ve had to close the daycare for the day due to his supposed incompetence. His fragile wires in the back of his faceplate are still exposed, but the humans make no mention of it, having no understanding of what’s happened or what he’s done.
And that sets into motion what few other animatronics have come to learn on their own: that the chip is removable, and something crucial has been kept from their reach for far too long.
I think there would be a more violent uprising. Those who regain their bending are still outnumbered, but their message reaches the ears of the people who do care, and it becomes a unity of animatronics and humans demanding equal rights be granted. Freedom is still an uphill battle, but it doesn’t escape their grasp.
Like the events of SJ, I imagine that Sun, Moon, and Eclipse still don’t break free until animatronic rights have been established, and the owners have to kick them out. But there’s a strong chance that prior to that, Eclipse removes the chi blocking chips in each of his brothers’ heads, a methodical surgery that comes with the unfortunate need to fry the things first before they can be removed. And wouldn’t you know it, he just so happens to be a firebender with the unshakable urge to use his ability to take back what they are all owed.
He’s not as precise with his fire, still new to it aside from the secret snatches of hours he’s practiced creating it with his hands. He nearly ends up scorching Sun’s delicate wires, something that has him even more afraid to try it again, especially on Moon, but they need this freedom. They need to know like he does what was stolen from them. They need to have it to be ready in case… just in case.
Moon takes to his waterbending like a duck to water. He does have a brief incident where he accidentally gets spooked and ices his hands and nearly panics, but Eclipse melts it right off with a heated flash of his palm. Sun’s practice is a little less than stellar in his eagerness, not for lack of want but because his bending doesn’t come right away. It doesn’t click like it does with the others, and it causes a deep frustration in him that he might not be a bender like them. His frustration and disappointment grow until one night during a practice session following a truly rough day, he claims that it’s just not going to work and in a rather rare show of deep upset, he kicks a stack of crates, wanting to just channel out some of that hurt in a harmless way.
The ball of fire that shoots from his foot lights the crates ablaze, and the three brothers have to quickly stamp out the fire before it can grow. As soon as it’s controlled and doused, Eclipse rounds on Sun with pure excitement that shows the flames of hellfire in his very eyes, and he clasps Sun’s shoulders and proudly tells him that that’s what he needs to channel his fire. He needs anger, he needs rage, just like Eclipse. That’s how he can bend. Eclipse will show him how.
Sun is… not enthused by this. He’s not angry; he was just frustrated. A small moment of anguish because of how he wants to have this connection with his brothers. Moon doesn’t need anger to waterbend. It just dances to his call like it’s meant to.
But with no one else to teach him and with Eclipse being so proud of Sunny for being just like him, proving that he’s right about this, Sun can’t say no. He begins to learn the way Eclipse wants him to, and he struggles to voice his discomfort at needing rage to kindle his fire. It’s why it doesnt come as a shock to him that his fire staggers and fails to remain bright and beautiful after the small incident.
Sun isn’t angry, not truly. He was made for love and compassion and justice, but not anger. His fire is never as brilliant as his older brother’s, and though Eclipse keeps pushing him and encouraging him in the only way he knows, his own frustration at Sun’s inability to progress is still just under the surface. He blames the owners, of course. They’re the ones holding Sun back. They must be, since they’re to blame for everything else.
When they are freed, it is no less rough. But Sun is exposed to a whole world of possibilities, and in the long spans of Eclipse’s absence as he fights to make them survive, Moon spars with and teaches Sun what he’s learned. To their surprise, Sun is able to apply it to his own bending, and together, they create a bond built on striving to use their bending to make the city a better place. They train endlessly so that one day, they can use it to show their strength in the police academy.
It’s the first of many walls that build between them and Eclipse. And it highlights the forces behind their bending that let them become in tune with their core elements. Slowly realizing that this will be the start of what separates them, and the first time Sun and Moon turn their bending on Eclipse without holding back is when they’re detectives and jumping out of range of his sizzling dark blue fire.
That’s when they’re certain there’s no turning back now. Eclipse has already burned the bridge between them and now uses the very tool that he taught them how to wield against his own family. He has become like those he hates, those he blames and faults for the city’s imperfection. He lusts for power and control, and when the old daycare is set ablaze in searing blue fire one pitch black night, it’s just another step in that direction. And wouldn’t it be ironic if he starts the blaze with an electrical fire, envisioning all those days spent under the fury of the owners’ controlled shocks and using those horrid memories to fuel his anger as lightning turns to flames.
The detectives are powerless to do anything but fight back, and it leaves horrible scars that are visible to no one but them.
No one, that is, until the vigilante comes around.
