#im posting this very late because i was sort of weary of how it came out and ended up messing w it until it was like 4am oops.#and i have plans tmrw so... oh well! i did my best and ill put it out while i can!#and i tried to make the scene match barnard's colors lol #finn's ocs #finn's art #i know i said id do more sillay stuff with the simpler screentone only style but i had a couple more of these in me #and this is the first piece im making thats like an actual part of the story too rather than just setting stuff for fun #i wanna write something to go with it too but for now ill just sort of briefly explain the context in the tags here:#barnard has a pretty bad case of OCD and his compulsions have made it difficult to make friends in the past #he was never outright bullied or anything but people just didnt really have the patience to deal with it #he has compulsions that include stuff like walking through doors until it feels right and needing things to be perfectly aligned #which in group settings has lead to people having to wait for him to finish his rituals and join them #they might find it tolerable at first but eventually they grow impatient and hes just... not invited to stuff anymore #but juno is a newer member of the guild who ends up frequenting the same library. hes also kinda a little weird #and they dont become fast friends or anything but just sort of naturally spend time in the same place #though they never plan meetups they eventually fall into a routine. around the same time theyd just both be at the library #and read next to each other. and maybe talk a bit. and eventually they end up walking back to the guildhall together #since theyre going to the same place after all. and juno always waits for barnard outside the door #eventually barnard asks if this bothers him. juno kinda just tells him 'of course it does' without any malice or anything. just a statement #barnard is surprised and apologizes and juno says not to. but the next day juno doesnt show up at the usual time.#barnard assumes hes committed somekinda more by bringing it up. he ends up staying there late reading to get his mind off it & not ruminate #but when he leaves juno is in fact still waiting for him down the hall (see pic) having collected a bunch of books literally abt ocd #he fell asleep bc barnard stayed later than expected. and hes an eepy guy generally. and also one very bad at expressing himself #but now barnard gets that juno's 'of course it [bothers me]' had the implication of 'but its worth it' which no friend has previously done.#and from the interaction juno was also able to understand that this isn't something barnard just does for the hell of it so. he studies.#and checks a bunch of stuff out because he thinks it could help his friend too (theres ocd workbooks and such- i remember working w them)#and thats the point where they became more ''friends'' than ''pleasant library acquaintances''#from there on they also do get into juno's problems. whole other bag of worms. but this specific scene is more about bernard from his pov #sorry about when i said briefly explain. i lied </3 #but compared to the whole sequence im picturing its brief so shhh

My DnD group's DM is collaborating with the players on worldbuilding and I'm the only one playing a gnome so she gave me the go-ahead to make up whatever the hell I want as long as it doesn't affect gameplay too much. MY CITY NOW

#i decided all gnomes have tails and long sideburns (but not beards)#my character Meena shaves hers bc she's essentially nouveau riche and growing them out is considered old fashioned and provincial #and now i'm writing an essay about the cultural importance of sideburn styles in gnome communities #they start growing during puberty and having full sideburns is considered a sign of adulthood/maturity #nonbinary people traditionally had particular cultural niches and would style their facial hair according to their job/gender #but traditionally girls in her home region would wear them long and tied or braided in front #and when they got engaged they'd wear them pulled back with either end of a ribbon tied to each 'tail'#married gnome women have special jewelry for the same purpose but older women usually just tie theirs back like a ponytail #and the jewelry is just for show #men usually keep theirs fairly short #the tail thing is less interesting i just wanted Meena to have one bc i think it looks cool #i tried rearranging some of the tags to make it easier to read but they got scrambled even worse 😭#tumblr mobile i hate you. one thousand laser sword attack

if it has wheels -- kenny can drive it. i feel like he's been driving since elementary school tbh. which leads me to my next point which is that kenny can drive super well...but its definitely not legal. there is No WAY he has a license like that man has no birth certificate. he def has a fake license tho and it is literally a knock off McLovin from super bad level of fake and just says McWhoremick with no first name smh. but its fine bc he can seduce his way out of any ticket ever. i feel like kenny drives a tiny little beat up red pick up truck that he fixed up himself ( hes a part time mechanic in peppermint...or thats his current job until they fire him...Soon probably ) so there is a driver seat, a front seat and a TINY cab in back which really should only have one...One!!! COUNT IT!!! ONE!! person in it but they manage to squeeze THREE people in wHICH SOMETIMES IS TWO PEOPLE AND CARTMAN AND SOMETIMES ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE IS ALSO TALL ASS KYLE WITH THE MASSIVE DOUBLE WIDE TRAILER BEST ASS IN CLASS so needless 2 say its a Tight Squeeze.

i have to be honest. i was filling in for a third grade book club this morning and i read up to the first seven chapters of the book (which is where they were) while i was on my half-hour break and i was thinking. man i do not agree with some of the messages in this book lmao.

#third grade angels by jerry spinelli #the cool teacher character tells them they're ALL responsible because two kids ripped up a woman's hat #fighting over who would give it back to her so they could be 'angels'#i get explaining intervene-when-you-see-something-wrong to children #but literally what could a child have done to intervene that wouldnt escalate that situation with their classmates?#tales from diana #there are some interesting messages in the book. i dont love the writing style (I GET IT'S JUVENILE ON PURPOSE it just bothers me lol)#(it's not the age demographic that it's clearly targeted to that bothers me. it's the tone. it tries to be cool in some weird ways)#(cant really explain wo going into page specifics... take my word for it it's weird)#but one of the things about being an adult working w children is telling them to mind their business sometimes. lmao #like if two children are getting into an argument--even if one child is clearly instigating it--you want the ADULTS to handle it or #for the kids themselves to work it out. you don't want to expand the situation outward. bc usually the kids aren't mature enough to handle #it on their own. understandably!#and these quarrels often end up distracting the whole class and you want to prevent THAT just as much as the quarrel itself.#but the whole class in that book scene was either fighting to do this woman a favor or just ignoring it #and ignoring it is frankly what they should've done #just let the woman pick up her own damn hat #idk it's a weird book #unrelated but on recess duty one of my after school kids from last year told me how much she misses me :'''''')#i miss them all too. my after school job was awesome. it didn't have enough hours to justify doing it forever but i loved it #my boss was a pretty good man too #he's retiring at the end of the year + so is one of my coworkers who i talked to today on recess duty #it was also nice to catch up w her. love talking 2 sherry.

i have split my self-taught korean lessons into a Morning Block and an Evening Block. classes start monday evening and end friday morning. in the evenings, i do the textbook portion of an entire chapter of this book. takes like 30 mins and then i have to spend forever manually making quizlet flashcards bc this book has no online resources beyond the listenings. then i practice the flashcards a little, sleep, and wake up. in the morning, i practice the flashcards again and then i do the workbook portion of an entire chapter of the book. takes like 30-40 mins. then i usually take a nap. in this way, i am sleeping between almost every Session of my class to ingrain the information on my brain, and am completing 4 chapters per week, which is great because i already know the content of like every single one of these chapters atm and just need to get through them to get to the stuff i dont know. i would say the most valuable asset this book is providing me is the structured vocabulary lists since amassing vocabulary is the hardest part of learning a language, for me. i also think the workbook is deeply useful. i kind of wish there were more workbook pages per chapter. because putting the language to use is the best form of practice. and as such, the thing my self-taught korean lessons is lacking the most is conversation in korean with other humans.

#if i tried to converse with jiwon in korean he would talk too fast he always does idk why he does that.#i understand that i need to get used to how people really talk but i'm literally just starting. chill. slow down.#and i dont want to make him go Teacher Mode bc he's not my teacher and also? i do not vibe with his teaching style #every time he tries to teach me something or answer one of my questions it goes crazy out of hand and i cry idk why #and also yesterday i saw him teaching jenni's class a little and also did not like how he was teaching her #obviously if she likes it that is her business but i would die if that was my class #so anyway. i am thinking of picking up lessons that are purely conversational. like i send the vocabulary lists for the week to #my tutor and then we have slower and easier conversations about the trivial topics in the textbook so i can start to practice #like i guess my thing is if i asked jiwon to have a conversation with me that used month/day negatives locations easy adjectives and verbs #he would 1) use a bunch of conjugations i dont know and then spend 20 mins explaining them to me #and 2) use the tone of voice he uses when he speaks easy korean to me that feels very very pandering and is usually fine #but makes me feel really dumb when he uses it while im trying to study #so i just want to avoid speaking to him in korean until i am fluent basically because i always feel really dumb when i try #i know this is impossible but its still what i want.#t
