summary : after promoting six songs newjeans finally gets a day off, and the maknaes use it to its fullest

For most people the end of the year meant, the start of a new one. But for the kpop industry it just meant weeks spent practicing for the end of year awards. It’s been six straight weeks of practicing and some days off that we’re always spent at home.

“Minji! My ankle hurts again!”. As you laid flat on your back after practicing your dance for the AAA awards Minji walked over to you. Medical wrap in one hand and ice in the other.

“I told you to stop stomping on your left foot y/n..”. You pouted as the older girl finnished wrapping your leg. Minji ruffled your hair and then ran over to Hanni.

“HANNI PHAM DONT TOUCH THAT SPEAKER”. You laughed as you felt a head fall onto your lap. Hyein blinked twice and you already knew what to do. As you started to massage the girls hair you heard a door unlock.

“MANAGER-NIM HELP”. Hanni hid behind the tiny women as Minji ran after her. It had been months since she had been assigned to you girls but, you could tell she still wasn’t used to you all.

“HANNI PHAM WHY CANT YOU JUST BE LIKE HAERIN AND DANIELLE?”. Hanni pouted and quickly started running again noticing Minji getting closer. Haerin giggled as Danielle’s back hugged her while on her phone.

“Good news!”. You and Hyein whined as your manager laughed.

“The last time you said that you added two more songs to make choeros for!”. You slapped your hand over Hyein’s mouth as she rolled her eyes.

“This is good thought you have the day off starting tomorrow!”. As you stood up, you swore Hyein did to hugging you tighter than she ever had. After Danielle pulled Hyein off, you all went to eat and then back to your dorms for an actually ten hours of sleep recommended.

As you turned over in bed you felt shallow breathing on your neck. Opening your eyes you looked down to see a sleeping Hyein clinging onto for dear life. Her hands were wrapped around your waist face right infront of yours. So ofcourse you flicked her forehead.

“Ow!”. You giggled as the girl punched in the stomach. You pretended to be hurt and remembered you didn’t go to sleep with the girl in your arms.

“Hyein did you sneak into my room”. Hyein sat up and sighed.

“I just wanted to comfort our Maknae and her foot”. Your face wrinkled with disgust.

“Two months Hyein! Your only two months older than me”. Hyein sticked out her tongue and which started the very much physical play fighting. As you both landed on the floor you heard a scream.

“HYEIN AND Y/N IM TO TIRED TO DEAL WITH THE TWO OF YOU”. You both giggled as Hyein helped you off the floor.

“So where do you wanna go?”. Hyein beamed at you as she grabbed your ipad and sat you down on the floor. She sat on your bed behind the tiny ipad.

“So.. first we make pancakes! Then we go to different photo booths! Then we go around and find little shops and then we end up near a nice river for a picnic”. You smiled at the slide but your eyebrow rose at the end.

“Hyein when did you have time to do this?”

“You sleep really soundly you know that”. You laughed as you pushed the girl out of your room. You grabbed some clothes and ran to the bathroom. Even thought Haerin looked like a cat she still took long showers like a human.

After you changed you got your bag and walked into the kitchen. Or what you thought was the kitchen. Which was really Hyein in an apron powder on her nose and cheeks and all over the room formerly known as the kitchen.

“Hyein Lee!”

“I didn’t want you to hurt your foot any more than you have”. As you walked up to the girl you whipped the floor of her nose.

“Ooh! The pancake are done!”. As Hyein platted the pancakes you cleaned up the rest of the ‘kitchen’. When you finally sat down and took a bite you winced.

“Is it good?”

“Pass me the syrup please”. Hyein nodded and even added a dollop of whipped cream and some strawberry’s to your pancakes as well as syrup. You ate as Hyein watched and smiled then starting to eat her pancakes.

“Y/n..”

“Hmm?”

“This taste like shit..”.You burst out laughing as Hyein struggled to gulp the huge bite she just took.

“Let’s give it to Minji and Hanni..”

“Take a shower first so they don’t catch us”. Hyein got up from her stool and saluted to you as she ran to get her clothes. You got two trays and put the food outside of the oldest rooms. Just as you were about to knock you saw Hyein struggling to put on a shoe and a cap on her head. You giggled before knocking. Hyein quickly grabbed your hand and you both ran out the dorms.

You both went to three photobooths at the expense of Hyein’s wallet.

“Hyein seriously I can pay for some stuff”

“I’m trynna treat our maknae write calm down y/n!”. You rolled your eyes as Hyein dragged you into yet another sanrio store.

“Let’s make care packages!”

“For who?”. You tilted your head as Hyein gleefully smiled.

“Eachother!”. You nodded and you both were off. You ran to find the kuromi section Hyein the my melody one. You both finnished and as you walked out Hyein held her bag behind her back.

“I’m gonna try to peak”. You said as you got closer and closer to the park.

“You say that but if you knew what was in here you wouldn’t”. You shock your head until you noticed a blanket in the distance. You looked between Hyein and the picnic set up.

“I did it while you were shopping, you take like five hours dude”. You squinted your eyes at the girl as she mocked you. You wavered her off and went to the picnic.

“So you like it?”. You never noticed the sun was setting or how the pink’s and yellow’s looked so pretty.

“Mhm”. Hyein smiled as she placed two strawberry sandwhich’s infront of you and two cans of my melody soda. You giggled as she took a bunch of other sanrio treats from her bag.

“Did I really shop that long”. Hyein nodded and you both digged in. Hyein fell flat on her back and all you could do was smile at the girl. You payed down next to her and stared at the stars.

“It’s really pretty out here”

“Just like you”. You turned over to see Hyein winking at you. You burst out laughing as did Hyein.

“You’re such a mess!”. Hyein sat up as she booped your nose.

“Your little mess”. Hyein eased her eyebrows as you finally sat up. You’re both started to giggle again till you heard a ding. Hyein checked her phone and laughed again. Showing it to you, you did too.

Yuji Itadori x chubby reader

May have errors since this is 2am writing.

“ Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Yuji said. He was very upset about you starving yourself all for a guy. It was absolutely stupid for you to do such a thing. “Whatever Yuji it’s fine. I swear.” He wanted to slap some sense into you but instead he walked away. As he turned around the corner you frowned.

Yuji Itadori is attracted to you. When people make fun of your appearance he’s TTG.(trained to go.) He is ready to fight. “What’s up with you?” Megumi asked Yuji as he slammed his fist at the wall. “ I hate him. I loathe him. I’d beat him to death if I could.” He then looked at his hand still feeling rage even after causing himself harm. “ You have to respect her decisions even if it ends up messy.” Megumi said patting his back. Megumi was right. It’s your life. You create your own path with the decisions you make. “He’s a total dick. Even his name sucks. Kousuke.” Yuji spoke while he cleaned the blood off his hand.

NEXT DAY

“You should really try using a waist trainer or something’s to show off your boobs that way people focus more on that than your fat.” Kousuke said laughing afterwards to make it sound like a joke. “I know right!” You giggled but actually understood. “She’s perfect the way she is Kousuke. If you don’t like that then you can leave.” Yuji spoke giving him a death glare. “Yuji he’s just giving me ideas on how to lose weight.” You defended him. Kousuke then leaned down and pecked your cheek. “See you later darling.” He whispered in your ear and walked away. “ He’s messing with you y/n. Open your eyes. You shouldn’t change for someone. You’re beautiful already.” He said as you both headed to the restaurant where you planned to meet up with Megumi and Nobara. “ Excuse me..y/n..may I speak to you please.” Umi (Kousuke’s ex.) She’s skinny and small. She almost looks sick. “Hey Umi” you smiled. “I came to warn you. . . Kousuke isn’t who you think he is. He’s manipulating you..he also gaslights.. he’ll have you end up like me.. sick until it takes a while to recover. Like me and the ex before me. He loves playing with girls weight and feelings. It does matter to him how much we weigh just as long as we end up messed up. Please listen to me..I don’t want you to suffer.” She spoke shedding tears. “He’s lovely don’t worry. He hasn’t been harmful.” She looked at you with such a worried and saddened expression. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” She walked away.

As time passed by you did lose weight but you looked unhealthy. You lost 70 pounds from 194(your weight). In and unhealthy way. Along the way you stopped hanging out with Megumi,nobara and Yuji. You stayed beside Kousuke and his friends. Yuji might have not talked to you anymore but he always watched you. Watched you leaving the girls bathroom holding your stomach with a pale face after you threw up your lunch. Watched you only picking at your food then throwing it away. Watched you cry in silence in the old gymnasium the school didn’t use anymore. He watched as you fainted multiple times during PE class.

One day during an exam you passed out falling of your chair hitting you head against the wall then the ground causing you to bleed. Yuji ran over lifting you up. “Don’t just fucking look call an ambulance!!” He yelled.

“Who are you? If you’re not family you can go ahead and leave.” A nurse said. Yuji laughed at her. “You’re fucking funny.I’m staying in this room with her. Call security if you’d like. I’m not leaving her side.” The nurse sighed. She didn’t want to start a scene. It was a full house after wall. Two hours passed. They had you with 2 Iv’s.You’re dehydrated and malnourished. They were surprised how long you lasted like that. “Y-Yuji oh sweetheart thank you for watching her until we got here.”Your mother said. After all you moved in with your grandma just to attend this school with Yuji so it took your parents awhile. “I’m staying here with her just in case you guys need to go and grab things.” Yuji replied watching as your parents sat in chairs beside you. “Yes son thank you we appreciate it.” Your father said. He loves Yuji for you. He thinks he’s a hardworking, respectful, smart and strong man for his daughter.

You finally woke up feeling dizzy with a headache as well. “My love Hi sweetheart” Your mother said tearing up. “Hey flower.” Your father said with a lump in his throat. “You’re awake y/n” Yuji said with tears slipping. He was angry at himself for not stopping you or at least trying.

The following months Kousuke dumped you. In front of everyone. He made sure it embarrassed you.

Afterwards you sat alone during lunch and In classes as well. Your heart ached but it was your fault you ended up like how you are. You couldn’t face your friends especially Yuji. Until you had the courage to. “Hi… Um… Y-Yuji.” You said tapping his shoulder hoping he’d turn around and acknowledge you. You teared up and tapped his shoulder again. Your heart was pounding. “Oh hey y/n.” He replied upset. “I’m sorry for not listening to you. I ended up like this .. you cared for me all along. I can’t believe we stopped talking. I messed up and I’m sorry.” You cried gripping his jacket not knowing you were. He suddenly held you in his arms. “Don’t you dare hurt yourself like that again. I’m not ever allowing you to leave my life again. I love you. I always will. I’m glad your health is better and your weight is good. My chubby girl.” He said crying ugly. It was pretty funny. “ I will accept your feelings just give me time okay. I do like you. Being away from you after the hospital made me think so many things…dad was right. You’re meant to be for me.” You said holding onto him tight. “You’re meant for me y/n. I’m so lucky.” He said not letting go.

Ik I said that I don't take requests atm but anon, thanks a lot for the inspo so I'll just dump out my HCs here and I'm writing this from my own experience as an Indonesian living in Indonesia so hai buat kalian para pembaca fanfic yg sesama Indo!!! (hi to my fellow Indo fanfic readers!!!)

I just know for sure that Pav, no matter what would try to get to know your culture when you guys first met.

Let's just say that you moved to Mumbattan from your hometown, and for your information, Indonesia's diverse in a lot of aspects, like religion, ethnic groups and culture, traditions, and all that!

Generally we speak in Bahasa Indonesia here as it's considered to be the main language, but in many areas of my country, there tend to be dialects exclusive to that zone like the Javanese dialect or Sundanese dialect. So if Pav wants to learn your language, I'd say he'd lean into the main language spoken by Indo people here BEHEHHEHEHEH

Usually we Indonesians are pretty close to our families and lemme tell you, I feel like your parents would absolutely love Pav once they get to know him more and think he's such a great partner for you.

Yes he might not be the best at speaking it but HE'S TRYING OK 🥺?? AND HE'S ONLY LEARNING ABT IT

Oh my fucking god. Pav would rock a batik shirt or sarong (worn over a basic tee bc he tried to try it himself during one of his visits to your place) so well.

"Oh my godness, Pav, I- You look good in it!"

"Do you think so? I hope you're not mad at me for snooping in your wardrobe-"

"Are you kidding? Honestly, I think batik suits you so much and I'd love it if you wear them more often."

Bam, you've just combusted because your boyfriend managed to look so damn good in the traditional cloth and he fell in love with you more for liking how good he looked in it!

Don't even start on how many traditional food your country have. And I personally imagine Pav to be a bit of a foodie kind of guy so he'd absolutely love to try your traditional food.

Now here's the fun part. Chai time AND trying your traditional food that your mom had cooked or bought! Ofc you'd also enjoy chai time hehe

Stray cats living in places in my country are pretty common so you and Pav would def bond over petting stray animals in the street! (Tho if you're a Muslim like me, just wanna say that you can still touch dogs but we Muslims usually try to avoid contact with their saliva because dog saliva is considered impure so we must purify ourselves by washing the area seven times, one of which must be done with soil)

Ok maybe to stay safe, let's just say you've always found yourselves being attached to stray cats more than stray dogs even tho you find Pavitr's interactions with stray dogs to be SOO adorable. 🤣

This may be a little stupid, idk. Personal thing.

But, I'm really starting to hate actors coming into superhero roles and saying they weren't familiar with the characters beforehand.

Like, okay, on the one hand, I get it. Not everyone read comics growing up, and some people are even from countries where DC and Marvel haven’t been very popular until recently with the influx of movies. Like, I know Sebastian Stan had no access to American comics in Romania, so of course he didn’t know who Bucky Barnes was.

But on the other hand, sometimes it feels a little dismissive or disrespectful, or even out of touch. Like, I know I’m a superhero fan. I know I am probably more aware of obscure characters that the average person, even well versed in pop culture, may never have heard of. Like, I wouldn’t be surprised if an actor said they’d never heard of Adam Warlock.

But, then you have the Teen Titans. And, you know, they’re not the MOST ICONIC DC characters, but they’ve had a popular cartoon on for at least 15 years (first Teen Titans, and now Teen Titans Go). I feel like if you’re between the ages of like 8 and 30 and grew up in the United States, you should at least, in passing, know who the Teen Titans are. Like, I remember when the original cartoon was coming on, and I heard a lot about it even before I started watching it. It was popular enough that teens and kids and adults were watching it. It was popular enough that I BELIEVE that’s why Cyborg is in the Justice League movie (because who would’ve thought to include Cyborg in that film until he got so popular through Teen Titans? If that movie came out in 2005 or something, it probably just would’ve been Green Lantern or something. Or even Martian Manhunter.) I digress. Let’s get back on track.

When I hear actors say in interviews that “I wasn’t familiar with the character before I got the role”, sometimes I wonder why they even went for the role. And, I’m an actor, too, so in some ways, I get it. You just want work. You want roles that are dynamic, interesting, fun. You want to make money and support yourself. You want roles that look good on your resume and make you desirable to cast in other work in the future. And right now, superheroes are hot and are star-making roles. You go from being “that guy in that thing” to “OMG THERE HE IS!” I get it. But also, like... there are thousands of actors registered in the Screen Actors Guild. Out of all of those actors, there have to be some who have actually heard of these characters. Why do we ALWAYS end up with actors who have never fucking heard of... the goddamn Teen Titans?

Like, I understand some of the more obscure characters not being heard of. Like, maybe Danai Gurrira never heard of Okoye before her audition, but also Okoye is obscure as hell, before the film. Even people who knew who Black Panther was didn’t necessarily know who Okoye was. Most people who thought of Black Panther thought of Storm, maybe Shuri, and maybe like Monica Lynne. Ayo, Okoye, Nakia... all of them are more obscure secondary characters in the Black Panther universe.

I’ve been trying not to call out specific actors... but I’m going to say this, and let me tell you all and be clear, I still support her casting and am happy for her. But...

Starfire is too well known to have cast someone who didn’t already want to play her in the first place. Who didn’t already know the character, at least in passing.

Sidenote, IDK where Miss Diop is from, so she might have grown up where they didn’t show the Teen Titans cartoon on TV. Which might be why she didn’t know who Starfire was. So, there’s that.

And, I know everyone can’t be Michael B. Jordan or Grant Gustin (superhero/comics fans long before they got their roles in their respective comicbook movies/shows.)

But, it would be great if the studios and networks could start casting people who maybe had some idea who these characters were beforehand. Even if they aren’t fans. Like, even someone who is like “Yeah, I knew about this character and had seen them in cartoons/comics before I even read for the role.” It seems like the only time we get that is if it’s Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Batgirl/Batwoman, Catwoman...

Y’all can’t find actors who have heard of Starfire? I’m an actor, and I’ve heard of Starfire. I’m an actor, and I’m black, and I’ve heard of Starfire. Like, I... don’t understand why so many actors, in my age range, have simply never heard of popular superhero characters unless they’re fucking Batman or Superman.

The hell y’all been? Even before I considered myself a true superhero/comics fan, when I was a child I watched superhero cartoons. Spider-Man and X-Men and Batman and Justice League and Avengers.... they came on regular TV, in blocks with other cartoons. Not even cable. Fox and WB(now CW). Even Teen Titans, it came on Cartoon Network, and was a popular series at the time (though I was already actively a self-professed superhero fan at that point.)

Like, would someone get cast as Sailor Moon and be like “I’d never heard of Sailor Moon before this audition”? I seriously doubt it.

And, I’m not saying the work suffers for it. Some of these actors do really good jobs and become iconic for their performance of the characters. Like, Sebastian Stan is probably the definitive Bucky Barnes and probably will remain that way.

And, again, I’m not talking about really obscure characters, like the Guardians of the Galaxy (and 90% of the characters from their movies: Ego, the Collector, Yondu, etc.). Most of the time, in those cases, their performances become so iconic they change the way the comics versions of their characters are portrayed. Like, Chloe Bennett with Quake. (Not saying all of those characters were the most obscure things ever. I think Collector, for instance, is pretty well known among Marvel readers. Just saying if you went to anyone on the street and said “Who is Iron Man” they’ll know what you’re talking about, but if you said “Who is Ego the Living Planet?” they might look at you crazy.)

Like, I don’t think it’s bad that someone playing Ego might have never heard of Ego.

Just, like... it get annoyed when someone is cast in some iconic thing, and we’re all excited about it, and then the interview with them is like “Lol, I never heard of this weird comics thing, but the fans are passionate, lol, don’t wanna piss them off! So, I read some comics!” Like... It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I know I’ve talked like this about Elizabeth Olsen, but she actually became an expert in Wanda stories. (Her only problem, now, is acting like she’s above the whole thing in interviews.)

And I’m sure the actress that inspired this rant will do her best to make this character great, but honestly. I’m just really, really tired of hearing actors say they didn’t know anything about the thing before they were cast.

There are a lot of us who are comics fans who knew about the thing since we were kids. It would be so easy to cast actors who at least have some context.

I’m just saying, as long as we’re getting people playing characters that are well known and beloved, it would be great if they could have some prior knowledge. Even just a little. Like, I doubt Grant Gustin was a Flash superfan before he became Barry Allen. But I know he knew who the Flash fucking was. I know Chris Evans didn’t necessarily know everything about Captain America before he became Cap, but he knew who Cap fucking was.

And, even if they didn’t and they had to be sent a stack of comics and read up to understand, I wish they would just... omit that part. Because saying it in interviews, to me, comes across as dismissive. Like, when actors in book movies say they didn’t read the book, I feel the same way. But it’s worse when it’s superheroes/comics, because it always comes across as looking down on the source material. Like “of course I wouldn’t know about this weird ass shit, but since it has weirdo fans who care too much...”

Like, their paychecks come from people who grew up with this stuff and love it. At least don’t treat us like freaks for caring about Starfire. Or any of our other characters.

Also, Teen Titans, specifically, seems to be really popular with people in my age range. Even people who I wouldn’t consider comicbook fans. My Facebook (which is full of people I went to high school and college with, not just superhero friends) is full of conversation about this Teen Titans series because so many of us grew up watching the original animated series. I have no curated my Facebook to be superhero rich or anything. In fact, I barely post there, because, like most people’s FB, it’s full of people I know/knew IRL and know/knew in different contexts. Actor friends. Mom’s friends from church. Family members. Classmates. People I barely know who just went to my High School. And still, I see people around my age talking about this series, because so many of us grew up with and love the Teen Titans. And so many of us have grievances with TTG. So, like... I just wish she wouldn’t be in interviews talking about how she knew nothing about the character. Just say you did a lot to prepare, and don’t make it weird.

IDK. Again, it’s dumb, and it’s just me... I’m just really tired of hearing this from actors. I obviously watch a lot of superhero content, and I watch interviews with a lot of actors from this stuff, and a good percentage of them say they never heard of their character before they were cast, and a good chunk of that percentage of actors says it in a dismissive way as if the content is weird and they were ... “not a nerd” or are too high brow, an Actor! serious about their craft who would, of course, never have heard of Bizarro Superman, or whatever. (Like, I’m an actor, serious about my craft, with a degree in theatre, and studied the avant garde and have mostly only acted in avant garde pieces or serious dramatic plays, and you know what my cute ass does after curtain? I go to my cast dinner, then I go home and watch fucking Arrowverse shows or read Captain Marvel comics. None of those things are mutually exclusive, and it doesn’t make you a more serious actor to pretend liking comicbooks or superhero content is beneath you. Ask Michael B. Jordan and his many acclaimed performances.)

And, like, it’s such a privilege to even be an actor with the opportunity to be in a huge show or movie about DC or Marvel superheroes. Y’all don’t even understand. Acting is a HARD business, most of us will be lucky to even make a few hundred bucks a year acting, and have to supplement with other work. Getting steady work on a TV show is like winning the lottery. Getting steady work on a TV show that almost guarantees success, like a branded show about characters with a following already is like winning the Mega Millions lottery, and not just the couple hundred bucks scratch off. Marvel and DC are HEAVILY curated. They don’t just greenlight shows and movies. These concepts are worked on for years, from the idea, to the script, to the casting, to the filming... They don’t, for the most part, license out their characters to just anything. And, today, they pretty much have a hand on everything that is branded with their names. So, being an actor, seeing other actors get once in a lifetime opportunities to star in HEAVILY CURATED superhero content from the two biggest comics entities in the US, probably the world... and then treat it like it’s fucking stupid and beneath them? It really annoys me.

Like, trade with me, y’all. I’ll play Starfire, you come take my roles in my small, Important, Serious Theatre off off Broadway. Since you want to be an artiste, and superheroes are beneath you.

I guess that’s probably the main reason it annoys me, lol. These roles are a big deal. Nobody just randomly gets hired by DC. I can’t just waltz into an audition and suddenly I’m Nubia. They’re heavily curated projects. People sit down at tables and discuss which casting will work and why. These people won the fucking actor lottery, and they behave as if it’s nothing, and they’re better than it.

And, I respect them. Maybe they are better than it, in some ways. Maybe she dreams of holding that Oscar statuette, and this Starfire role is just to get her name more recognition.

And also, maybe she, in particular, feels soured on it because of the racist douchebros being asswipes about the orange alien she plays being played by a black actress. (DON’T GET ME STARTED ON THAT BULLSHIT).

But.... I’m still over hearing actors talk about how much they didn’t know a thing about their characters before being cast. I mean, goddamn... What am I supposed to think about this?

Anyway, fuck me up, if you need to. I’m being nitpicky. And, like I said, I still am happy for her and support her casting. Black women gotta work, and nothing makes me happier than seeing racist fanboys shit their pants when the character they fapped to is played by a black woman. Dunno why they thought Starfire’s alien ass was white, anyway. Aliens aren’t white, kids.

Superman ain’t white, nor is Kara. None of these aliens are white. Better not hear anything about the race of the actors cast as them... But ESPECIALLY Starfire, who is fucking ORANGE. At least Superman has skin similar to European humans in the comics. Starfire has ORANGE SKIN.
