amusing to me how ttw's story has evolved into something where there's really no reason for half of the cast to be dragons but also consider a) they've always been dragons b) i'm not about to redesign them to be humans c) i like it :D
My current Tale of Two Wastelands player character by Gotuya
Gotuya: https://twitter.com/gotuya127
After posting a few screenshots of her on both Twitter and Discord over the past few months, I knew I wanted to send a commission request to an artist and she was perfect.
Here are the WIP images of which version I wanted to be focused on. It was a difficult choice between 1 and 2 ngl.
Again, I'm very happy with the final version, my player character and the background are as stunning as we discussed as this artwork developed. I will work with Gotuya again in the future, I always love working with her.
I'm finally playing the Borderlands spin-off game Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and I just love how in-your-face gay it is. Like, in the character creator, the feminine appearing body shape is simply labeled "that one" and the masculine body shape is "the other one." The default pronouns are they/them. The feminine voice is "voice a" and the masculine voice is "voice b". All of these things can be changed at any time. The first major NPC you meet within like the first ten minutes is a trans man (voiced by a trans man) named Paladin Mike and he's wearing armor covered in unicorns and rainbows. Early in the game you meet a woman who's in love with this other woman and needs your help to set them up, but then she just falls in love with a goblin woman instead. There's a skeleton pirate captain who has his ghostly crew do an entire dark ride song (using the tune of the wellerman) about how his boyfriend left him because of their skeleton curse. Actually I'm pretty sure damn near every couple I've come across has been same-gender. The Queen is a diamond binacorn named Butt Stallion (yes, THAT Butt Stallion, from BL2). Wanda Sykes is there. Honestly it's just so gay and it makes me so happy.
So if you're into a Dungeons and Dragons inspired Borderlands game, you gotta check this one out while it's on steam sale. Cuz it's very fun. Is the writing super clever and emotional? Eh, I don't think any game in the series will beat BL2, but also I haven't finished TTW yet. But this one has been a lot of fun so far, so consider giving it a shot.
Starting a log of yet another fallout new vegas playthrough, this is my TTW character who has already completed Fallout 3, hence the armor and gear. I've been meaning to keep a log of a playthrough for a while, though I've had nowhere to put it till now.
I find it fit to cut off Joe Cobb in the middle of his threats, and then did Ghost Town gunfight, as usual.
Made a quick stop at the NCRCF to tie up loose ends and we're off to Primm

Would you be open in going into the difference between your Kids and BlackStars a la that post you made about jumping from fic and wondering if this is what X would do or Y ?
I think this is in reference to this post.
So this happens a lot between The Things We See and the Things We Don鈥檛, Bet on Me, and Freeze to the Stone
in The Things We See Blackstar is more mature, he鈥檚 worked hard in therapy for a number of years to work through his trauma and be better at communicating and less reactive. Occasionally if I鈥檝e just been writing this fic, I end up inadvertently giving these attributes to Bet on Me Blackstar who - while mature in some ways - is still working through understanding others, communicating, and especially being less reactive. So I accidentally give BoM Blackstar skills that he hasn鈥檛 learned yet, but TTWS Blackstar has.聽
in both Freeze to the Stone and Bet on Me Kidd is still working through trauma in relation to his brother, among other things. However, in FttS the way he deals with that trauma, as well as the current trauma he鈥檚 experiencing, and his overall litany of issues, is reserved on the outside but incredibly frantic on the inside. He鈥檚 incredibly sensitive, and doesn鈥檛 actually know how to regulate his emotions in an effective way, which really has him ripping at the seams. While BoM Kidd, in contrast, does still have a lot of issues he鈥檚 dealing with, he takes more time and effort to examine his problems and identify them. He鈥檚 still sensitive, but not to the same extent that FttS Kidd is because he is more aware of himself. But if I鈥檝e just been writing FttS Kid for a while and I switch to BoM I鈥檒l occasionally have BoM Kidd have an extreme or knee jerk emotional reaction to something he probably wouldn鈥檛 have.聽
In TTWS Kid is older (not by much, he鈥檚 20 compared to BoM at 18 and FttS at 19), but he鈥檚 somewhat more curt, blunt and mean, and has a far more negative attitude towards the idea of therapy and mental health treatment, and has done a good job (with Kilik鈥檚 support) working through his issues and dealing with them. We鈥檒l see later that his attitude towards Asura and the abuse he suffered is leagues different than the attitudes of BoM and FttS, and while he has spats of extreme emotion, he鈥檚 better at stepping away or not engaging, and dealing with things in a slightly more mature manner in part because of how his upbringing went down in his teens. However, I sometimes find myself giving these more blunt, curt, mean, borderline indifferent attitudes to the Kids in other stories where this would not be the way they鈥檙e reacting to something at this point in their story.聽
Frankly, a lot of the way I mix up Kids is how sensitive they鈥檙e going to be to a subject or situation, and the way I mix up Blackstars is now mature they鈥檙e going to be in a subject or situation. FttS is especially tricky for Blackstar because he shares a lot of the attributes and flaws of the other Blackstars, but is somewhere between them, which makes balancing his character occasionally hard when I鈥檓 also working with him at two opposite ends of the spectrum at the same time. So remembering and feeling who would do what when just gets mixed up occasionally.聽
My kids! All lined up like a row of ducklings! Only took about two days... if you don鈥檛 count the writing that got them here, I guess. So five years. I think.
After years of using Nexus Mod Manager, trying out Vortex, and going back to the community-maintained edition of NMM, I am now a complete Mod Organizer 2 convert. It has the best features of the other two put together, but is less confusing (for me) than Vortex. Yes, I find Vortex confusing. Shut up; I'm old.
And ironically, if I understand correctly, the guy Nexus hired to build Vortex is the one who originally made MO or MO2?
I had avoided MO2 for years, assuming it was obsolete, but it's the recommended tool to install and manage Tale of Two Wastelands, so I was like, "Fine, I guess I'll bite the bullet." And then, as I learned more about how to use it, I was continuously amazed.
There's a little bit of a learning curve compared to NMM, but after that, it is SO GOOD! So far I've only used it on Fallout New Vegas/TTW and Starfield, but it works flawlessly with both of those.
Starfield support is only in the beta version of MO2 so far, but the beta works just as well for me as the official release--and the main version will most likely support Starfield within a couple of weeks. (To get the beta, just install the current version, go into preferences, and opt into beta updates.)
Now I have to convert my Skyrim and Fallout 4 installations--which is going to be tedious, but worth it, I think.
I guess there's a reason MO2 has been making a big comeback lately.
(Tale of Two Wastelands is a mod that takes your entire FO3 installation and turns it into DLC for New Vegas, so you can seamlessly travel between both wastelands with the same character. They are completely integrated--you can even take followers from one to the other. It is widely regarded as being the best way to play FO3, and even Josh Sawyer, although AFAIK he hasn't played it, has said he thinks the idea is pretty cool.)
