ہم سب کی زندگی میں کوئی ایک شخص ایسا ہوتا ہے جو ہم سے میلوں کی دوری پر رہتا ہے، ایسا کہوں کہ ان کا ہم سے تقریباً گھنٹوں اور  دنوں کی دوری جتنا سفر ہوتا ہے پھر بھی اگر ان سے ہمارا دل لگ جائے تو پھر فاصلوں کی دوریاں کوئی ویلیو نہیں رکھتیں کیونکہ دلوں کی دوریاں تو نہیں ہوتی ہیں ناں ان سے ،پھر ان کا انتظار رہتا ہے کہ کب وہ ہمیں ٹیکسٹ میسج کرتے ہیں پھر میسج پر ان سے ڈھیروں باتیں ہوتی ہیں پھر وہ دوستی محبت میں بدل جاتی ہے اور زندگی اچانک سے خوبصورت لگنے لگتی ہے،  ہماری زندگی کی ہر ایک گھڑی میں وہ شخص حصے دار ہو جاتا ہے ۔ ہر ایک لمحہ اسے سوچنے میں اور اسے یاد کرنے میں اور اسے اپنے پاس محسوس کرنے میں گزر جاتا ہے ۔ وہ ایک شخص کائنات میں ہمارے لیے سب سے اہم ہوتا ہے اور اہم ہونا بھی چاہیے کیونکہ اُس سے پہلے ہماری زندگی کے موجود کسی بھی  فرد نے ہمیں وہ سب خوشیاں اور روح کو سکون تک نہیں بخشا ہوتا جو ہم ڈزروو کرتے ہیں یا شاید ہمارے لیے کوٸی اور انسان اتنی اہمیت نہیں رکھتا ہوتا کہ اس سے کوٸی بھی منسلک چیز ہمیں سکون یا خوشی دے۔ جبکہ ایک شخص کی آمد سے ہماری زندگی روشن چراغ ہوجاتی ہیں پھر کیوں نہ اُس ایک شخص کو آنکھوں میں سمایا جائے سانسوں میں بسایا جائے، دل میں چھپایا جائے، وہ اتنی دور رہنے والا شخص، ٹکرایا بھی تو سیدھا جاکر دل میں بس گیا.

6. three songs you wish you could erase from history (because they’re terrible): im v bad at remembering stuff i like in the first place afsh apologies for the cop out but im pretty sure ive either never disliked a song sm to wish its inexistence, and if i did, certainly dont remember it anymore

21. three songs of your childhood: a little difficult a little fun! ill say aashiyan from barfi, half bcs this album and all its songs r still my favorite years later (movie too!!) and half bcs i have way too nice memories of performing this song as a kid at an event at dad's work and getting complimented a lot (it was aided tho, im sure, by my front teeth missing). second would be ae mere zohra jabeen, a veeery old classic bollywood song, and v much beloved to me both when i was tiny and straining to catch my ma's radio during hw and now when i can add it to all my playlists. third!! raabta by shreya ghoshal, a song that annoys me a lot now simply bcs ive heard it >2000 times bcs it was such a (deserved) rage when it came out for a few yrs

24. three favourite old songs: tere naam! by alka yagnik (listened to a newish cover, fell in love, found its original version, fell sm in love!!) id again mention ae mere zohra jabeen by manna dey bcs i never get over how sweet and cute of an old song it is. third, kaheen dur jab din dhal jaye, movie anand bcs heyy its lyrics, i really love whats it abt!!

im not surprised its just wholly old bollywood bcs thats what majority of kids in india grow up on, either by their parents love for it, or being a kid in the era itself. plus! i could never rec old bollywood enough, its either so catchy that u cheer the love its talking abt, or so poetic that u..cheer the love its talking abt, half of the time managing to be both. not to mention the iconic voices with legions of songs to their names. thank u for asking, i had sm fun!!!

burnt sienna; is there a painting that brings you peace when you look at it?

yes!! this is, like, so basic but a starry night :) but i’ll explain why :) i’ve always thought it was pretty but in one of my creative writing lectures this year, we were learning ab ekphrasis and poetry (which is using a painting as a visual to write poems) and a starry night was one of the prompts. and i was always so focused on the stars every other time i looked at the painting that i never noticed the little town beneath them :’) until that lecture. and i was like … wow. i never realised. imagine stepping out in the night and seeing those in the sky :’)

emerald green; do you speak any languages besides english? are there any additional languages you want to learn?

yes!! i speak urdu (from india) and a bit of kreo (from sierra leone). i used to be really good at french too so i always count french but i haven’t practised it in two years so i’ve forgotten sm :( but when reading it i understand it most of the time !! i wanna continue learning it and become fluent. and i wanna learn arabic, spanish, italian, latin, greek and japanese. wby? ♡

red ochre; are you more right-brained (creative) orleft-brained (analytical)?

ahhh this is interesting bc i’m a writer and have always been so so creative and study creative writing… but i also love english literature so much which also requires a lot of analysis……………… so hmmm. and i’m good at both too. but i think i’m more creative because some of the analysis definitely needs some creativity, as long as i word it well and make it make sense shehwhshs. and in general outside of education i generally am more creative too :) so, right brained !!!

how many languages can you speak? two, english is my second language and urdu, but with urdu theres a lot of dialects and other languages that are similar so i can understand mix of hindi and punjabi

do you like chewing gum? not the minty ones, my faves are strawberry extra and the green hubba bubba i think its apple flavour
