A3! Translation: Chikage SSR Card “Graceful Paani” [ Sweet and Spicy ]

Chikage and Izumi help Guy out with something after a shopping trip.

Izumi

What’re these flowery spices?

Chikage

This is Mah Kwan. It’s pepper used in Thai cuisine.

It gives the tongue this tangy, numbing feeling along with this refreshing citrus aroma on the side.

Izumi

Okay, then what about these chili peppers over here?

Chikage

This is Espelette. It’s the name of a small village in France, it’s also named “The City of Chili Peppers.”

Izumi

I see…

(I knew I’d learn a lot when I came to buy spices here with Chikage-san.)

Chikage

It might be delicious to make curry that mixes all of these. I’ll feed it to director-san first then.

Izumi

You know that’d definitely be painfully spicy, right!?

It’s not as good as director’s curry, but it’s not bad either.

I had to adjust the spice mixture.

The red chili from the store was a little too spicy, so I halved the amount and added paprika powder.

Then I also added cardamom instead of allspice.

The first one had so many spices in general that I felt the aromas and flavors interfered with each other.

Guy

I see.

Amazing…!

Itaru

I thought for sure I wandered into the death kitchen of some mad doctor.

I made a slightly sweet, soft curry with a coconut milk base, with cinnamon and pumpkin spice.

I know this kind of curry isn’t at all enough for Chikage-san, but since you only ever eat really spicy food… I came up with this.

Ah! And just in case you were wondering, I brought some garam masala for additional spiciness!

Chikage

…No, I think this one looks more like the type of curry made by director-san.

Besides——.

Izumi

Spices shouldn’t be mixed in recklessly, after all.

Chikage

Kenji: he’s staying up very late to watch very unfascinating documentaries about the Roman Empire. He’s got little to no online presence but he does play Pokémon Go once in a while and when he does he nearly gets run over.

Yuri: she does not like using her name on the internet for obvious reasons but she posts on Instagram dutifully like a good high fashion woman to show off her killer shoes and all that.

Gai: he is commonly called Guy online. And sometimes dude. Seriously, their parents need slapping. He likes Facebook and gets teased about being an old man. Also interacts with their fans the most through Messenger or chat services. Low key scared of discord.

October 22-28 is Ace Week 2023, so I’d like to give a spotlight to some manga I have enjoyed that have also touched on asexuality.

I Want To Be A Wall by Honami Shirono

A 3 volume Josei manga about the lavender marriage between Gakurouta, a closeted gay man who pines for his childhood friend, and Yuriko, an aromantic, asexual BL fangirl.

She Loves To Cook, and She Loves To Eat by Sakaomi Yuzaki

An ongoing yuri Josei manga with a TV adaptation about two women who bond over food. The series recently introduced Yako, an asexual lesbian, and it’s possible that protagonist Nomoto may be on the ace spectrum as well.

Is Love The Answer? by Uta Isaki

A single volume josei manga about Chika, a young college student who has always considered herself an “alien” because she has no desire for romance or physical intimacy, but finds community with people like herself.

Our Dreams At Dusk: Shimanami Tasogare by Yuhki Kamatani

A 4 volume Seinen manga about a closeted gay boy who gets to know the patrons of a drop-in center who all turn out to be part of the LGBTQ community. Someone-san might be considered a deuteragonist of the story.

I’d also like to mention two yuri manga I haven’t finished yet- I have only read the first volume of both- but because of what others have said I know they feature asexual characters!

24 gay theater kids came together and found a home

They are a big group of people that range from teenagers to adults and it’s very nice to see their dynamics as they all go through theater with different eyes, between those who have a long life in front of them and are excited to do something new, and those others who feel like they are too old for this but still do it regardless, and like the way friendships are born between those people who seem so different yet have some similarities some past memories they relate to, or also see the adults trying to be there for the younger members it’s very cute I swear. You see even if I ramble here it’s hard to explain because I would explain 6 whole years of lore but yeah overall is just a situation of, people who seem different but find similarities between one another and do their best to help who struggles and are all bond by one single aim which is bloom on stage!

These are 25 individuals that all come from completely different backgrounds, situations, and experiences that all happened to come together by chance, and formed a tight bond and family that cannot be replicated. Sakuya Sakuma, a young orphan boy who found refuge from his troubling homelife through theatre, found himself a home within this small run down theatre company, and found a family through the people in it. This isn’t a Headcanon, A3! Is a found family story. Sakuya views everyone there as a member of his family, and it’s not just him. Misumi Ikaruga, a man kicked out of his home for being “different” (cough Autistic cough), finally found a family that accepts and loves him unconditionally. Taichi Nanao had been taught that you need to always be fighting your way to the top, and whoever gets hurt along the way is nothing but a necessary casualty. So being able to find a place that is willing to work and rise with him, and care for him along the way… and the theres Azuma, a man so heavily affected by the trauma he experienced as a child, and yet has pushed it so far down to the point you wouldn’t even know it by looking at him. But here, this god who knows how old man finally found it, that home he has been searching for, and a place where he can finally break down his walls. Sure, one could argue a3! Is 4 different found families, but you would be wrong. Yes, each troupe is important, however would you then deny the importance of cross troupe relationships? The four leaders, who all encourage one another to do better, Tsuzuru and Kazunari, who allow one another to finally be honest about their feelings, Azami and Kumon who are the definition of “boys being boys”, Sakyo and Azuma, two adults who seem well past the years of found family, who found solace in one another. A3! Is about people of all ages coming together to be a family. It doesn’t matter who you are, or where you come from. You could be just a random college kid off the road, or a former international spy, that doesn’t matter. Mankai has a spot for you, where you will be loved, accepted, and cherished.

- The ability to make blood pure, by drinking it she can regenerate all injuries

- This goes through her digestive system which takes the bad parts out then purifies it. This cannot be done by someone without said power.

- She can jump really high

Possible malfunctions - By drinking too much blood, she can have the possibility of a demon possessing her

- If she leaves an injury for too long then it cannot be regenerated

- Phantom, meanwhile, is the opposite, having no filter and usually trying to annoy everyone else. It mainly likes to play tricks on people and finds joy in watching people derive into madness over being taunted.

- If asked for advice, usually will reply with "kys" even if it's Phantom.

Species - Demon in a doll's body.

Power - Can create voids that it can warp through, also has the abilities of illusions. These voids can only be seen by itself and anyone it's connected with.

Possible Malfunctions - If it loses all 3 of its hearts then it dies and its entire existence is erased.

- Will eat any food given but can't starve to death so it doesn't matter.
