Monika, Wrecked Editorial for Moevir Magazine.
Monika and I had this shoot in our pockets for a couple of months and we waited for the perfect day. We finally got it. We made our way out to Wreck Beach and got to work. The ocean was lively that day and the tide came in quickly and kind of cut our time short. We intend to go back again.
You can buy a hard copy of this spread in Moevir Magazine November’s Print Issue here.

As a photographer you can’t seem to help seeing things that maybe most people are not really paying attention to. It’s not that they are not paying attention necessarily but they just don’t see the things you see because it’s part of your job. I mean after all, that’s why people pay photographers. They pay for their and skill of seeing and creating images by using light, lines, shadows, reflections and other components all with the perfect composition.

Prunus serrulata (Japanese flowering cherry)
The term 'Japanese flowering cherry' is complicated. Most of the flowering cherry trees you see are complex cultivars and they don't produce edible fruit because they have been selected, purely on the basis of their 'prettiness', for hundreds of years. On Saturday, I went to the Sakura Days Festival at the Van Dusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver but it was quite crowded and there were simply not enough cherry trees for my liking. However, I found this beautiful, highly-doubled specimen a few blocks away and I was delighted.

Daisy, at home editorial published in Vigour Magazine.
Daisy is kind of magic to work with and I think you can see that magic in these images. They showed up with no makeup and natural hair and we made these images within an hour and called it a day because we knew we had it.
I had the wardrobe ready and the backdrop pinned to a wall in my apartment. It was fairly chilly outside so I chose to shoot inside, we have a fair weather shoot planned for when the temperatures rise and I can’t wait.
If you want a copy of the magazine you can find it here The April issue celebrates fashion and makeup and the spreads in the printed magazine are fabulous.
Enjoy!
