Vastatosaurs are large T-Rex-like creatures that fill in the dominant predator roles in most ecosystems they appear in. They are not very intelligent, but large and powerful. Some Hell-bred versions are more intelligent--and even capable of speech. Sadly, they are not of much use in a vampire battle.

El Carnictis sordicus, es un gusano plano depredador enorme de los abismos de Skull Island. Estos invertebrados de pesadilla se retuercen en los desechos fluídicos del fondo de los abismos. Miden 7-13 pies de largo. Indiscutiblemente, el habitante más repulsivo de las infernales y pantanosas areas en el interior de Skull Island es el Carnictis. Retorcidos, serpenteantes, carnívoros vermiculares del lodo tibio que sofoca las profundidades de los abismos, se alimentan de muertos y heridos. Los carnictis son lentos pero implacables. [The name that The World of Kong gave to the 2005 King Kong’s “raptors”, which is as good as any. After all, there’s no Utah or Dakota in most folks’ Pathfinder games, so Utahraptor or Dakotaraptor would seem weird. Despite the decidedly retro look of the Skull Island raptors, I’ve given my version feathers, because we know dromeosaurs had them. The CR was selected to be equivalent to the Bestiary’s suggestion to make “megaraptors” by giving a deinonychus the giant and advanced templates (and we know that real megaraptors weren’t dromeosaurs). The flavor text is inspired by World of Kong’s take on them as having a wolf-like social heirarchy.]

Dinosaur, Venatosaurus CR 5 N Animal This feathery biped has a long tail and each limb ends in an array of deadly looking claws.

Venatosauruses are sometimes called giant raptors, as they are the largest of the naturally occurring sickle-clawed dinosaurs. A single venatosaurus weighs as much as a grizzly bear and stretches to twenty feet long, and like their smaller kin are sometimes found in packs. Group hunting venatosauruses are often in pursuit of game the size of sauropods, and a venatosaurus pack will use ambushes and terrain to force such massive prey over cliffs and into ravines. When hunting smaller game, a venatosaurus will attempt to pull the prey to ground and then stand over it, buffeting it with its massive wings in order to keep it down until it stops struggling.

Venatosaurus social structure is similar to that of wolves—a single breeding pair directs the movement of the pack, and many of the pack’s members are siblings of multiple generations. Fights for dominance are rare, and when they do occur are more likely to involve posturing and threat displays than direct violence. The young are cared for extensively, with multiple pack members feeding and grooming young chicks. A venatosaurus pack has extensive dietary requirements, so is frequently on the move, ranging over a wide territory.

A venatosaurus animal companion is treated as a typical dinosaur (deinonychus, velociraptor) animal companion.

i thought i posted this already but these are two redesigns i guess you’d call them of dinosaurs from Peter Jackson’s King Kong. specifically of the Vastatosaurus rex, Brontosaurus, and Venatosaurus.

the V. rex in the movie was said to be descended from Tyrannosaurus, or a Tyrannosaurid, but given the location of skull island (somewhere in the indian ocean) that didn’t make much sense. so instead it’s an Abelisaur, probably descended from Majungasaurus or Rajasaurus.

the Brontosaurus in the movie... well it shouldn’t be a brontosaurus first off. no way that it went 65 million years with almost zero changes in body plan. so to go along with the redesign it now has new nomenclature: Astraposaurus denhami. the species it is descended from is either Isisaurus or Rapetosaurus, thus making it a Titanosaur instead of a Diplodocid.

the Venatosaurus was said to be descended from a Dromaeosaur of some kind, no doubt Velociraptor, but that again doesn’t make sense with location or the look of the species. so instead it’s now a Noasaur with island gigantism.

and the unnamed one is a rough idea for what i wanted Ferrucutus to be: an Ankylosaur or Nodosaur that has evolved a similar appearance to a Ceratopsian, at least a glance, with large shoulder spikes and recessed head to protect it from predators.

(also the small drawing between astraposaurus and vastatosaurus is a general size thing. with vastatosaurus being 18 meters, astraposaurus being 30 meters, and venatosaurus being 6 meters.)
