#where they're part of a mystery solving business

Thinking about how I would write an adult Scooby-Doo series, because I think it can be done.
The first thing I’d do is make the characters actually be adults.  Still young, but adults, in the mid to late 20s range.  Mystery Inc. is a private detective type business that they run together.  In this universe, the supernatural/ghosts/etc are real, but not necessarily common, so when they take on a case, the culprit might be a person disguised as a monster, or it might actually be a real ghost.  The stakes can be higher; sometimes a bad guy is legitimately trying to kill them.  Sometimes the mystery they’re trying to solve is a murder.  Sometimes they actually get hurt on their cases.
Fred: the core of Fred’s character should be that he’s incredibly kind.  Like, give a stranger the shirt off his back kind.  The “Fred can’t talk to potential clients because he might take a case for free and we need to eat” kind.  He’s an honest and good person and sometimes gets himself into trouble because he assumes other people are too.  While he’s not very good at reading people or noticing ulterior motives, he’s brilliant when it comes to mechanical or engineering type stuff, so he’s the one who keeps the mystery machine running, builds their gadgets, and of course, designs the traps.
Daphne: she comes from old money, and her parents absolutely despise her life choices, to the point where they haven’t officially disowned her, but they have basically cut her off, so she doesn’t actually have access to any family money.  Growing up wealthy has granted her a variety of skills, including speaking multiple languages, horseback riding, and fencing.  She’s very into fashion and jewelry (even if she can’t afford it anymore) and has extensive knowledge of both that can occasionally provide a vital clue in a case. And even though her parents have cut her off, Daphne still has a wide network of contacts she can ask for favors sometimes, because she’s personable, and people tend to like her.  Daphne is also very emotionally intelligent, and is usually the one who can spot when someone is lying to them.
Side note - I ship Fred and Daphne, so I think I would start them off as an established couple for this universe.  Dating, engaged, married, I don’t care.  They are stupidly in love, ride or die for each other.  There’s no will they, won’t they, no worries about cheating.  They are in a healthy, happy, loving relationship, and no one (not even Daphne’s disapproving parents) are going to mess that up for them.
Velma: she is the forensics nerd who sometimes gets super excited about the wrong thing at the wrong time (”He was mummified in seconds? That’s so cool!” “Velma!  His wife is standing right there!” “Oh.  Sorry.”).  She’s not purposely insensitive, she just gets laser focused on her work and forgets to filter herself sometimes.  She’s also the one who can get so fixated on solving whatever mystery they’re working on, she’s willing to bend or maybe break laws.  Is breaking and entering really so bad?  Not if it gets them answers.
Shaggy: he is still the comic relief, but he’s the comic relief by being the only person in the group that actually has common sense.  He manages the business’s finances, he’s the only one who knows how to cook, and the others tease him for being a coward sometimes, but Shaggy maintains that if a ghost with an axe is coming for you, running is the only sensible option.  He should also have a range of random knowledge that sounds useless, but sometimes saves the day (ex ventriloquism, origami, the history of spoons, etc).
Scooby: as this is a universe where supernatural creatures exist, Scooby is an ancient eldritch type being that took a shine to Shaggy when he was a kid, and took the form of a talking dog to befriend and hang out with him.  Aside from the talking dog bit and not aging, he never uses his powers in a way that anyone notices.  The audience is not told upfront that Scooby is an ancient eldritch being; it should slowly be hinted at throughout the series so the audience put it together, but the characters never realize it.  Scooby genuinely considers Shaggy to be his best friend, and cares about the rest of the gang too.

My own personal Scooby-Doo re-imagining canon includes:
-out and proud lesbian Dominican/Puerto Rican Velma (yes I'm projecting, leave me alone)
-Velma has audhd
- velmaphne happens eventually
-sapphic/unlabeled daphne
-ace/homoromantic and autistic Fred Jones
-he's dating Shaggy who is a pan Trans man
- they are adhd/autism boyfriends
-fuck it, they're all autistic and you can fight me
-Velma and Fred have a shared special interest in machines and will talk about it with each other. They love to share what they know or what they learned and talk about improvements to designs and the like.
-daph and Fred grew up together. Daph's family works in politics and Fred's dad is running for governor or some other government role. Maybe daph's dad is a congressman.
-Daphne is very romantic and tried to liken their relationship to that of a fairytale with Fred being her prince charming but it didn't work out that way
-the two are fs soul mates just not the ones Daphne wanted originally
-she did play match maker to shaggy and Fred and it was a feat. Although, she couldn't clock velms would practically break her back bending over backwards for her.
- they meet in college where velms is majoring in forensic science , Daph is double majoring in business and hospitality (because of her parents) but she switches to journalism where she is much happier, Fred is in Mechanical engineering (idk it makes sense imo) and shaggy is majoring in veterinary science or culinary arts.
-they met in a creative writing class for their humanities credit where they find out they have a shared love of horror movies and mysteries. They did seriously debate on creating a Vincent Van Ghoul fanclub.
- they don't become an actual mystery solving group until they find out about a missing person's case for a student in their class and decided to take matters into their own hands
-found family™ they understand each other like no one else
-besties shaggy and daphne! Daph is a huge foodie and runs a vlogging channel with him! They love romantic comedies and this one novella in particular and will have frequent sleepovers where they do each other's nails and hair and gossip and fan tf out
- Fred joins in on occasion. He loves it even though he doesn't know what's going on. He does engage when he can though and somehow becomes very versed in the relationship dynamics of the show
-shaggy plays wingman for velms and daph and will listen to both of them pine over the other. He is tired.
-velma is fluent in 5 languages and uses them frequently, even to flirt.
-Daph can speak 3 but mostly just to talk business.
-daphne tries so fucking hard to live up to the expectations that her parents has for her and she does but they are never completely satisfied. Her whole arc is finding her own sense of self outside of her family.
-she's head of the cheer team, debate club, and the fashion column in the school's newspaper and graduated saludatorian at her high school
-Velms is also a journalist and she will try and work with daph when she can
-Supernatural occurances does happen. Eventually at least. In the beginning it's their regular whodunit shtick until they meet cosmic horrors that even Lovecraft couldn't imagine and cults (gasp)
-there will be stakes! It will be mature and dark but bc the plot calls for it
-daph was a part of the hex girls as she roadie and backup to Thorne, she did use this fact to flirt with velms.
-They are their brujas on speed dial.
-The gang doesn't know how Daph did it or for how long and they'll never get a straight answer. One day daph will say she found them practicing in an abandoned space and the next she might say they met at a commune. Her favorite thing to say is "oh. You know." as cryptically as she can and just stare off into the distance, just for kicks. Shaggy is convinced Thorne is Daphs twin sister or clone and they won't try and convince him otherwise.
-the hex girls are a polyam couple
-Scooby is young dog instead of having grown up with shaggy. Great Danes only have like an 8-10 year life span where 6 is average. Shaggy found him a injured and wandering on the edge of the woods that's next to the school.
I do plan on writing out this fic but idk if it has any merit. If I do write it would anyone be interested in reading?

Let us know how the D&D game went!
Sure! The turnout was a bit smaller than my usual group due to a bunch of Adult Scheduling Conflicts, but I honestly prefer DMing for smaller groups anyway. This was session zero, so it was mostly just establishing lore and rolling up our characters.
We went over the lore of my homebrew setting. We’re doing an urban fantasy set in a film noir-style fantasy city - built vertically into the walls of a massive sinkhole. The economic boom caused by the town’s mithral mines have turned it into a cultural melting pot, populated by diasporas of elves, orcs, drow, humans, etc. It has also attracted its fair share of organized crime, such as the powerful elvish mob known as the Gabbro Family. The players are part-time private eyes who own Deepwell Detective Agency, a small detective agency in the depths of the city, where the sinkhole’s walls cast the streets into perpetual twilight and the Gabbro Family rules with an iron fist.
We rolled up some characters! (We’re using Pathfinder as our system for this one, ‘cause I like it the best.)
Jericho is a drow witch who’s a young student at the city’s college of magic. They're accompanied by their familiar, a tophat wearing hedgehog named Hazel, and their imaginary friend reality-challenged friend Impy. After reading tons of mystery novels, they aspire to be a Detective Conan-style kid detective. But their sheltered upbringing in the upper levels of the city has left them naive and unprepared for the realities of being a private eye.
Homes is a monkey-goblin investigator who traveled to this city looking for adventure and new experiences, but has since fallen into the mundane routine of doing construction-related odd jobs. A dexterous and handy little guy who’s good at building things, he built the Deepwell Detective Agency’s headquarters and the other players pay him rent to use the place. He insists he’s just their landlord, but as the cleverest of the group he often gets caught up in solving mysteries with them.
Perdita is an aasimar sorcerer who runs a simple tailoring business in the lower levels of the city. Few people know about her past as a thief, but she once had ties to the Gabbro Family, who took her in and raised her after she was abandoned as a child. After being caught and forced to work with the police for a while, the Gabbro Family disowned her as a failure and a traitor. Her past and ties to the criminal underworld will come in handy when it comes time to solve some crimes.
With what little time we had left after all that, the characters interacted and got to know each other a bit! They solved a small mystery, helping a little girl find her missing friends - and eventually discovering that these “friends” were bullies who had purposefully ditched her. Homes gave them what they deserved by scaring them and stealing their lunch money. Now the players are ready to go out into the city and SOLVE SOME MYSTERIES!

Steph's Crew - Book 3 Summary
I was meant to post this last year to sort of close the Steph-related content and focus more on other projects. Actually, I was meant to post a lot of things last year...
Bretanie analysis (on here)
Season 1 of AU (on my second blog)
Jekyll and Hyde, but in the modern world (I've been working on that for fun on the side, and I've decided to post the full story on Wattpad)
Revealing the identity of the secret blogger (I'll probably do it in this post, since it is relevant to this part of the story as well)
I've been so busy, y'all. Sorry for the delays.
I just want to make sure I have time to do everything as best as I possibly can, so you can enjoy it. I think it was less pressure posting the Steph's Crew dialogues and snippets because they were old pieces of work, and since the time I first wrote them, I've neatened it up and made it considerably better than it was... I know that the stuff I've shared isn't the final product, so I don't feel the urge to make it perfect. At least not to the extent that I do with all these other projects lol.
Hopefully this can help make up for lost time. I'll get to the other posts mentioned on that list as soon as possible, but until then... here's a summary of the third and final instalment of Steph's Crew!
Enjoy!
Keep in mind that I'm still working on this one. It isn't finished yet, but I wanted to give you guys a rough idea of how it goes. And prepare for this, because it's pretty unhinged lol. I collaborated with my sister on some of the wackier ideas...
Book 3 is titled "Story of a Broken Thing." It picks up where Book 2 ends off, more or less (or at least, it fills us in on what went down since the end of Book 2). If you can't remember how UVC ended, then here's a link to that summary:
But to put it briefly, the crew have successfully solved the mystery, Brelise have split up again, Bret's gone on tour with his band, Dalice are together, Bephanie is over, and Stephanie got arrested... but then escaped from holding. Nobody knows where she could have gone.
Which leads us to Book 3. It is set a couple of years later (I think about 5 years after Book 2 ended), and a lot of stuff has happened in all that time...
Dylan and Alice have broken up. Wasn't meant to be, I guess. But don't worry - they're still friends, and there's no bad blood between them or anything.
Victor and Jen have unfortunately split up as well, leading to Jen moving back to Texas. Alice decides to go with her. She's doing alright - currently taking some classes at a local college, and helping out at her old dance studio in her spare time. She's also still making YouTube videos.
Bret's band is still doing well. They're not touring anymore at the moment, but they are super busy recording a new album, and filming music videos. Plus, they have been asked to perform at the Jingle Bell Ball towards the end of the year, which is very exciting. Even though he has moved back to the UK, because of the nature of Bret's job, he can't just stay in London with his aunt anymore like how he used to... but he still comes to visit her as often as possible. And he and Elise are still close friends, so that's cool. He's been seeing other people over the past couple of years, though.
Elise and Charlie are together. She decided to give him a chance. They're really happy together and they seem to have a pretty healthy, solid relationship for the most part (they've been together for two years straight by the time Book 3 has started). Charlie still harbours some degree of jealousy/wariness towards Bret, though, since she's still really good friends with him. He's never once brought it up to her, though. But it becomes a big deal in this part of the story... more on that later.
Ben isn't really in this part of the story... at least not until towards the end, when Stephanie randomly decides to call him for some reason. But he's doing fine. Moved back to his cooking job from Book 1 lol. It was good money, and now he doesn't have another person to share it with! Wait, that sad-
And by now, Dylan, Connor (who has finally moved on from Daisy! Thank God), Elise and Charlie have all finished their university courses. Yay!
In fact, this is what kickstarts the plot. Dylan's family (we get to see them again in this one! Specifically his mother, her new husband and his younger brother Sam. I feel like we didn't get enough of them last time) is very proud of him for finishing such a long, tough course (3 years, + 1 foundation year + 1 year of masters), and they decide to reward him with an epic summer trip to Australia. And it is during this holiday that he sees Steph again (she's not in Australia btw - he sees her when he goes with a family friend to the Samoan islands).
She fills him in on how she got there. I haven't neatly worked this part out... but basically, Reggie helped her leave the country (idk whether to make him a villain or some kind of loose cannon/antihero type of guy. Like, he's awful most of the time, but he's also one of Stephanie's oldest friends, and he can be genuinely nice when he wants to be. Especially to her. He needs to be in trouble tho lol. I think the thing about him is that he gets away with his awful behaviour easily, whereas Stephanie is kind of forced to be held accountable, even if she actively runs away from the consequences of her actions sometimes...)
After that, she was stuck on her own again for a while and needed a job. So she applied for a job at a local Natia hotel (Natia is a famous line of hotels... kind of like Hilton, to give a known real-life example). She didn't have enough money for a cab or bus, so she had to walk the whole way there through heavy rain. By the time she got there, she looked terrible lol. But when she arrived, she bumped into a handsome young man who kindly helped her out. He got her a room and some clothes to change into, which helped in making a good first impression and whatnot. She got the job!
Later, she found out that the guy's name was Jordan Natia. The son of the hotel line founder (he also owns the hotel she got a job at). She thanks him for her help, and he invites her for dinner... and the rest is history.
And by history, I mean she ends up marrying him lol. Dylan finds out that she now lives at the resort that he and his family friend are currently staying at. She also has a baby daughter named Mia (short for Miranda. Not suspicious at all). She loves her life so much right now. She's always prided herself on being a strong independent woman who can take care of herself, but she's surprised at how much she's enjoying being a stay-at-home mother and housewife lol. She loves spending time with her baby, and she loves her husband a lot, too. He takes good care of her. However, similar to Ben, he doesn't really know all that much about her (Jordan goes through a similar arc to Ben's in Book 2, where he finds out the truth about Stephanie, and it changes the way he sees her. Minus the cheating lol).
Dylan is shocked at how much Steph has changed since the last time he saw her, but he's happy for her at the same time. He can see that she's genuinely happy and seemingly at peace, which is great.
Meanwhile, back in the UK, Charlie has decided to propose to El. He's taking it VERY seriously - even asked for her family's blessing and everything. They all said yes... even Adam lol (he's grown to like Charles by now). One summer evening, he pops the question (in a truly beautiful and romantic way btw), and Elise says yes in the moment, but she doesn't know if she truly feels ready for marriage yet. Something about the situation feels wrong to her, but she doesn't know what it is. However, instead of communicating her mixed feelings to her now fiance, she decides to distract herself with hangouts with her family and friends, as well as getting into her work and other hobbies, preferring to think about anything other than her problems (man, does THIS sound familiar lol). Charlie starts noticing a change in El's behaviour and it begins to really upset him (especially since Bret is one of the people she starts spending more time with, and we all know how she feels about him), causing more strain in their relationship. It only gets worse when they find out about Stephanie's whereabouts...
Dylan messages the others about his trip everyday through a group chat. One night he reveals that he's reunited with an old friend of theirs and sends a picture of him and Stephanie hanging out. The others are shocked. Elise especially.
The situation started becoming somewhat of a controversy in the news... people started talking about it more online, many blogs and news websites (including The Looking Glass) started covering it. Alice made a video on YouTube talking about it (and it came from the unique angle of her knowing the person from school and being their friend and everything. She didn't mention Steph by name, though). It blew her channel up.
The story of Stephanie's escape was quickly resurfacing back into people's minds after being forgotten for such a long time. And this wasn't good for Steph lol. Especially after finally making a life for herself that she was genuinely truly happy in.
But that's not the end of the story.
I'll tell you the rest in part 2 of this summary!

So in the Shadowpeach route of the "Reincarnated LBD" au idea, Mac becomes pregnant in Yuebei while having the Canon!Eclipse twins (mini female Macs with SWK's eyes) or another version of the Eclipse twins?
Well it's going to be an interesting discussion with the gang when they ask what's going on.
MK : Hey Monk- Are those baby clones of Mac?
SWK : Well...
Eclipse opens their eyes (SWK's eyes) and smiles eerily similar to a certain King.
LMK Gang : ...What...
SWK : Also we found out what to do with the soul...
Mac : I am craving for noodles and tea.
LMK Gang : ...What...
Referencing previous "Reincarnated LBD" post. Heavily inspo by @ninjasmudge's "Double Trouble" au.
Its the Canon!Eclipse twins!
Basically they started as little shadow clones who stuck around longer than usual.
Macaque and Wukong were tackling some old confliction emotions on 1: Being back together, and 2: The fact that they never managed to have kids back in the day. And since Macaque was being used as a "fridge" for the New Soul/LBD's soul, he needed to leech soul energy/magic off someone super-powerful like Wukong to stay healthy.
Recipe: Intense shared emotions + shared soul magic + smouldering desire for kids + primordial monkey powers = A pair of shadowy baby monkey demons popping out of Macaque that have his and Wukong's dna.
Macaque & Wukong: *staring into the makeshift nest/crib* Macaque: "I blame you." Wukong: "What!? Why me? They popped out of you!" Macaque: "We've been sharing *soul energy* Wukong! Why our powers manifested this way is a complete mystery to-" Eclipse Twins: *interupts arguing with adorable sleepy yawns* Macaque & Wukong: *overwhelmed by cuteness* (-‸ლ) (´∀`)♡ Macaque, realising: "Oh sweet Buddha... I think I know why." Wukong: "We wanted kids. Remember we talked about starting a family before I got mountain'd? Guess I never really... lost that want." Macaque: "And now we have kids..." Wukong: "Well at least we know we make super adorable babies." *kisses the twins' noses* Eclipse Twins: *bleps happily* :p Macaque: "I make adorable babies."
(Later when the gang visits)
MK: "How???" Macaque, holding a twin: "In short; Wukong got me shadow-pregnant." Wukong, holding the other twin: "Takes two to tango, mango!" MK: "...I'm regret asking. In any case; Red Son says there's an easy way to relocate the Soul!" Red Son: "The easiest way in theory is to create a new body for it to inhabit i.e find a person capable of becoming pregnant, and let the soul settle in as a future child. My parents have already agreed to host the other fragment we found." Wukong & Macaque: *share a look* MK, dreading: "Whats with the faces?" Macaque: "I have good news and bad news. Bad news is, I have no idea where the fragment I had went." MK: "Whats the good news!?" Wukong: "We think it sorta just petered into these little guys!" *nuzzles babies* Eclipse Twins: *delighted chirping!* MK: "Ok, phew! That solves that."
The gang later tries to voice concerns that the twin shadow monkeys might have parts of LDB's powers, but they lose all worry the second they're allowed to hold them for the first time. Too adorable to be scared of.
(later again)
Macaque, thinking really hard: "Wait... after the fight didn't me and Wukong- oh sweet Guanyin."
Tumblr media
Mac is gonna wait a bit before voicing his new theory.
Now if a certain Lion were to mind his own damn business...

This is a pretty old headcanon I had for how Poe was pre-6 years and during the 6 years, and my personal headcanons changed after reading 'To all I've loved, I loved alone' which I basically adopted as mostly canon, but I still think its fun so here it is!
(I was also listening to 'non-stop' when I came up with pre-6 years Poe so that inspired this a bit)
- Poe, as one of the smartest young detectives in America, has never lost a case and has developed an ego. He believes that his word is truth because he's never been proven wrong.
- Poe loses to Ranpo in deduction, and after suffering his first loss, he builds a resentment towards him and sees him as an egoist that mocked him. He's a really sore loser.
- Poe becomes obsessive over getting back at Ranpo. He starts venting by replaying the scenario between them in his novels, then he starts planning ways he could really get back at Ranpo. He wants to prove that he truly is the smarter and better of the two by writing a novel with a mystery Ranpo not only won't be able to solve, but will die when he fails.
(I have a headcanon that Poe can go into his own novels and can act as a part of the story he's written in them)
- Poe spends years with this goal in mind. In his quiter and lonelier moments, he finds comfort in his hate over Ranpo because at least its some form of connection with someone even if it's one sided, and at least its a purpose. With enough time researching Ranpo and his achievements, Poe can't help but admire the man he hates, which fuels him to REALLY want to write better and take him down a notch.
- Poe joins the Guild, and the other members think he's a bit of a freak but they're all freaks so they start found familying eachother, or maybe more like an office comedy with most of them. He gets on with Lucy because of their similarities, even if they butt heads sometimes because of the differences in their personalities, but there's enough similarities for them to form a bond.
- At some point, Poe's obsession over Ranpo leans a little...sexual...and after an accidental mishap in one of his novels he realises that keeping himself isolated while only thinking of his 'rival' probably isn't the best for him, so he makes an effort to actually go out and interact with other people more, not just for work either. Que Guild hangouts.
(the mishap was that he had a novel where he'd written how he'd expected/planned for his confrontation with Ranpo to go, and there was a Ranpo 'character' in this novel. Poe would go into the novel and rehearse what he'd say, and the Ranpo character would respond however Poe assumes the real Ranpo would. He'd been going in this novel every now and then for years, constantly rehearsing and changing the lines where he saw fit. The last time he went in the novel, because his novels and characters respond to how he imagines them to play out, the Ranpo character started coming on to Poe because Poe was internally developing a sexual interest from his obsession that the novel recognised even if he himself didn't want to acknowledge it)
- The Guild prepares to go to Japan to get the Agency's business permit, and Poe finds out that Ranpo is part of the agency. After so many years, he can finally enact his 6 year revenge plan, and he's absolutely freakishly giddy. He seperates from the group, telling them that he'll handle Ranpo himself because its personal. When Poe doesn't come back after his meeting, some assume he might've been unable to outwit the detective and got killed or kidnapped. Meanwhile....
- Poe meets Ranpo again, and realises that he's...actually not much like the Ranpo he's been picturing all these years. And Ranpo doesn't consider him a rival, but an equal, and Poe is between stunned and having a crisis right now. He isolates himself again while the guild finishes their battle, because he's really not sure what to do now the last 6 years of planning did NOT happen as he expected, and the man he'd been obsessed with hating isn't actually that bad??? He's more nervous around Ranpo now, trying to figure him out and still unsure if this is all Ranpo's elaborate trick and that this is what Ranpo has spent 6 years planning on his end.
- After meeting Ranpo again, Poe's obsession turns from hatred to being whipped for him, but it happens too fast to process, and it's not like he hadn't felt this admiration for Ranpo before (even if it's a lot stronger now) so he still thinks these are feelings of rivalry.
So of course this headcanon is old and I don't completely see this as accurate to Poe, Ranpoe, or the Guild dynamic in canon anymore, but I think it's fun in a fanfiction way still.

The assumption is ridiculous, really. She tells them as much. It's ridiculous, and the fact that they've cornered her and they're acting like they've solved their own mystery, only the mystery is her, is frankly just....insulting and patently wrong.
"I hugged you and you yelped, Drew. And one of the rare hugs I deem you worthy of! You'd think you'd be cherishing that opportunity."
"Proves nothing."
"Your boobs are sore. That's symptom #1."
Nancy heaves a deep sigh, and her friends, her beloved best friends actually start circling her, like predators hunting down prey.
"Your eyes are red. You're tired." Bess offers.
"I was up all night helping Ace study!"
George wrinkles her nose. "First of all, ew."
"He has a test, it's not like...."
George holds a hand up. "Don't want to know, not interested in thinking of Ace like that. Ever. More to the point, we got clam chowder and you went exorcist immediately with the puking. That's never happened before."
"It's not like the Claw's food standards have improved since..."
This time, Bess holds a finger up, tutting at Nancy. "We aren't done, our most beloved friend. You could also smell Nick's cologne from across the house."
"He put it on heavily!" The excuses are getting weaker and Nancy knows it. But her brain's gears, usually spinning rapidly, seem to be working at a determinly slow pace. Keeping the doors closed, as it were. Closing out things she perhaps didn't want to think about.
"And," George moves in closer to her, eyes meeting Nancy's straight on, gleaming like she's just fit in the final piece to a particularly difficult puzzle.
"You're late, aren't you?"
It's ostensibly a question, but it's also not a question. Nancy has all the replies in the world on the tip of her tongue, about how invasive it is that her friends are tracking her period, about how it's none of their business, but they somehow get clogged in her throat.
They get lost, as the floodgates open.
Because yes, she did recoil from Nick (there was a comment in there about how it hadn't been that long since they dated, and did she really find him that repulsive yet). She had spent a lot of time retching over some food poisoning that none of her other friends seem to get. She and Ace had indeed had to abort some "date nights" because her boobs were oddly sore. She had peed no less than 7 times on the 4 hour drive to the latest small-scale case. Immediately after vomiting up all the clam chowder, she had inhaled two burgers.
But...
"No," it comes out weakly at first, then stronger. "No! Because we...we're careful. We're always careful. And I'm...I'm on the pill. And we've...I mean, we've only talked about stuff like that as an eventually. Ace hasn't even gotten into med school yet, I can't be...no. No, you're wrong!"
The last part is a near shout, as Nancy curls her fingers into Bess' jacket, first lightly, then tighter, tighter.
Soothingly, with more gentleness than Nancy knew George possessed, her friend disentangles her fingers from Bess, and laces her fingers through Nancy.
"Sweetie," Bess says softly, stroking back a lock of hair from Nancy's forehead. "Did you take the pill every day?"
Her life is insane. It's busy, tracking sin eaters. It doesn't lend itself to a reliable schedule. That's the reasoning she'll use later, along with her app forgetting to remind her after she silenced it one day.
Because for a period of a few days, she'd forgotten. Looking back, she thinks it was Ace's birthday. They'd just come off a case where they'd found three sin eaters at one time, and Ace had done well on a big test, and there was cake and stars and the bed of a rented pickup laid out with blankets and she'd just...forgotten.
Bess and George do their best to soothe her. They buy her tests, and sit with her during the actual eternity that three minutes is, holding her hands and reassuring her it'll be okay, that she has options, that they're here for her, but when she slips into Florence at the end of the day, Ace greeting her with a kiss, the test wrapped in tissue hidden in her bag feels like a bomb with a lit fuse.

All right, we know where Bhaal's temple is, so it is time to FLATTEN ORIN LIKE A PANCAKE. >:| We're heading back to the sewers, and on to the temple where once Caden fought Sarevok.
This dude is wandering around in the entry hall of the Murder Tribunal:
Tumblr media
I can't interact with him but he's wandering around grumbling about the Lord of Murder. I had to do some googling - this is Ffion Goldgrind's son, the one I assumed had been replaced by a doppelganger. Apparently he just went down the Bhaalist rabbit hole instead, so I'm guessing he killed his mom. Apparently we could have run into him in a couple different places as part of the "Solve the Murders" questline (which I guess is shut down now that we've faced the tribunal), or if we had taken the evil route here, we would have had to fight him as a "professional rival" (according to the wiki).
Interesting. Let's get the hell out of here.
Back into the sewers from the Basilisk Gate, and following the quest icon, we're going way the fuck off to the north in an area of the sewers we haven't been yet. We run almost immediately into a couple of "Night Blades" and a "Death's Head of Bhaal," who are busy taking potshots at a camp of innocent refugees nearby, but all of whom are not happy to see us and immediately turn their attention to Hector instead.
Tumblr media
"What's this? A heretic in our midst? Your death in the Dread Lord's name!"
I actually stumbled past these guys earlier in the sewers but then backed up when I realized it might trigger Orin's wrath early; at the time, though, they didn't actively get angry (presumably because we were still on some level allied with Orin because Gortash was still alive). Now, however, they're ready to jump. I'm assuming this is because Orin knows we killed Sarevok and is Not Happy.
...I hope killing Sarevok didn't get Lae'zel killed. :(
Not a difficult fight but does seem to indicate we're going in the right direction.
While searching for the path northward, I land in a place called "Heapside Barracks Cells" which appears to be a prison managed by the Flaming Fist. It's not what I'm looking for but I'll take a look around in the interest of thoroughness.
Surprisingly, the Fist didn't seem to mind me being there. So I set Hector into sneak mode and robbed them blind of anything useful and enjoyed the satisfying sight of the dead Steel Watcher lying on the floor.
Pretty much the only interesting stuff here is a bunch of documents in a back office, most of which deal with the rise of the Bhaalist cult in the city. There's a note from Devella indicating she requested more resources from the Fist to look into the situation and was denied. Florrick's sentence to death and information about the Stone Lord are also here, which thankfully are no longer relevant but would presumably have been alternate entrances into those quests. Also some notes about the rise of the Absolute, and a message from Ravengard (post-tadpole) ordering a complete lockdown of the Upper City.
There's definitely some documents here indicating the presence of decent Flaming Fist, also:
Tumblr media
Hard to say if any such people remain in the force, though, or if they've all been tadpoled into submission.
A fun little note locked in a chest:
Tumblr media
XD Yes he really is a [REDACTED]. Jury is out on whether [REDACTED] was [REDACTED] although I'm guessing she died fully human.
The Emperor is still a bit of a mystery to me. He does a very good job of pulling my heartstrings, but there are also definitely plenty of documents around reminding that mind flayers are capable of incredibly manipulative behavior so who knows. Maybe I am not immune to squid propaganda. I want to believe he's telling the truth about Stelmane but who knows.
Probably not a very relevant sidetrack but I always appreciate some lore flavor. :D

So the new stupendium song about the theorist channels has MV made by editor Ty of the theorists. And ho boy there's so many Easter eggs bro makes it look like it's April.
Here are the ones I could find purely by looking.
1) Count Bleck reference from the Luigi Brainwashed ep
I won't lie I didn't not expect to see him so when I saw this man in literally the first 30 seconds of this vid I knew I was gonna be busy going frame by frame on each part of the vid
Tumblr media
2) Allay, Bees, Pigs, An Enderman and An Illager From the Minecraft Lore series
This one was kinda obvious but I liked it regardless but I can't remember the significance of bees here for some reason
Tumblr media
3) The Bendy Posters + Stupendium reference
There's a bendy, Boris and Alice angel poster and I think they're signalling to the first ever bendy theory but I don't really know. Also in a blink and you'll miss it moment there's a frame before the jumpscare where the film playing changes into the words "stupendously stupid" which I really like ngl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4) Garten Of BanBan Missing Chapter Theory + Editing Dungeon mention
In the lyrics stupendium mentions about missing pieces and in the visuals it refers to the fifth chapter of Garten Of BanBan in which the sixth chapter is advertised as the next part rather than the fifth. Also I love the little insult to BanBan as a series purely made to sell merch like girl- And I absolutely love this Easter Egg so much omg it's the editing dungeon!!!! The editors being called dungeon dwellers with Head D̶u̶n̶g̶e̶o̶n̶ ̶D̶w̶e̶l̶l̶e̶r̶ Editor Dan in red with 2 Asset Allies and THE ALL POWERFUL WAVEFORM WIZARD YOSI. Also the console is the ts4 which is peak .
Tumblr media
5) Stupendium solving the Tom Nook Theory in the background
I don't have anything to say other than it's very cute.
Tumblr media
6) THE MEMESSS
The creators of Hello Neighbor constantly tagging matpat, Matpat react, I KILLED THEM?ooc, THERE'S A PHONY BETWIXT YALL, pimp!pat, THEORY THEORY, #BLAMEJASON, every child is the crying child and whatever that pic is.
Tumblr media
7) Stupendium as a GT Thumbnail
Tumblr media
8) Sonic's Speed
The antithesis to Mario's height.
Tumblr media
9) Frogger Dissection with cute mysteries in the bg
First off, The Super Mario Maker is infinite theory on the whiteboard. Mr. Tomato on the shelf alongside with a maxim tomato from the time they tried to theorize Kirby
Tumblr media
And I'll have to end here rn cuz there's a ten images per post limit on Tumblr

If you could meet xz and wyb, what would you want to tell them/ask them/talk about? (assuming there were no language barriers)
This is a fun question. One I'd answer from a couple of slightly different perspectives.
Fake, fan fiction, CPN.
As a turtle
I'd want to know what they think of turtles, how they refer to us, how they feel about all the works done in their name, what are some of their favorite fake rumors and CPN, what are some of the most outrageously funny and incorrect takes.
If they really do have a special place in their heart for BXG, as I have long suspected.
Which fanworks they like best. If they're Zanbii and Bobii fanatics like I am. What they think about blogs like mine and some of the personal posts I make about them, and what their favorite BTS clips are. Any funny back-stories to some of my favorite GGDD moments. Maybe solve some of 'the mysteries of yizhan'.
Was GG really at SDOC3? How did it all come about?
Did DD arrange for the scorpions in the Qingdao snacks video?
Did they really quarantine together? Did GG really teach DD to make the pancake?
Is there any truth to the Devil's Timeline? When did they really get together, and how did it happen?
How many of the graphics, comics and album covers did GG actually design/draw?
How did the covid heart thing happen, and who drew the image?
WHAT IS THE REAL MEANING OF 622??
As a person
I'd want to talk about their interests, goals and dreams. Things we might share an enthusiasm for. Probably games, for example, and extreme sports, literature and art. Design, communications, business. Industry stuff. Fashion, Spongebob, Spiderman, films and TV. I'd also love to know about what they hope to achieve, where they plan to take their careers next, if there's anything new they want to learn or try. How they feel about the trajectory of their lives.
If there were no barriers
If there were absolutely no barriers, and absolutely no consequences to them or to me - in other words, if no topic was off-limits or unsafe - I would want to ask them about their politics, values and beliefs.
I'd be especially curious to talk with them about queer politics and what Pride might mean to them. What it's like being a queer superstar in China, what it's like having to be so publicly closeted, how they feel about the awful homophobia of many of their solos, how they feel about the restrictive government policies, what they feel the chances are for change in their lifetimes.
Whether they ever plan to come out publicly as a couple, and why.
I'd also be curious to know how they feel about a wide variety of sociopolitical topics they aren't at liberty to discuss right now. How they really feel, what they really think about so many things. How they really feel about their fans. How GG really feels about 2/27. How did DD feel when he had to cut ties with Nike and delete all his posts. There are dozens of questions I'd ask if I could.
I'd absolutely love to be able to talk to them from a journalistic perspective, and maybe write something in-depth and heartfelt about the real GG and DD. Give a loving, honest, no-holds-barred (but deeply respectful) perspective on their lives and on their relationship. Maybe even a book.
Mostly I'd just want to enjoy watching them talk with each other in their cryptic, chaotic, multi-language, bickery way. I'd be perfectly content with that. I miss seeing that so damn much, it's like an ache in my heart. A huge part of why I'm such a LRLG fan is because that's the only opportunity we ever get to catch a glimpse - fake or otherwise - of the unique, sweet, heart-warming, often hilarious rapport they have with each other.
Thanks for the question, Anon!

Hi. First of all, you’re amazing and you’re doing God’s work for us. Second, could you please recommend me some time-travel fics? I think I already read a few well known ones, and was wondering if there’s more? Also, it’s usually both or Bucky who time-travels, is there fics where Steve goes alone instead?
Tumblr media
Hello Stranger!
Thanks for the ask and your very kind words. I live to serve! 😉
Now. The first thing I need to do here, is to point you towards this excellent rec list by @voylitscope There are a lot of very good fics on it and I strongly recommend you check it out.
I also want to apologize again for the long wait. I had a busy week and when I finally sat down to put together this list, I realized fairly quickly that almost 90% of it was comprised of some sort of EG-Fix-It fics. Just the idea of writing up my thoughts on all of them felt exhausting and saddening to me, so I scrapped the whole thing and started over. So without further ado, here are 7 fics featuring timey-wimey stuff that I have read and very much enjoyed and 3 more that I've yet to read, but can't wait to get to because they look amazing:
sun peeking through the sky series by dontcallmebree | M, 16K (2 Parts)
Author's summary: Steve clears his throat, curling his hands into fists to hide them. “Alright, say I believe you. Hell, you’re here. So what?”
Scott pins him with an unshakable stare, alive and unyielding. He never realized Scott could be so intense. Sam was the one who knew Scott better, but then again, Sam was always the better one of the two of them. “Look, the place I was in—the quantum realm—it messes with time, it lets you go back.”
Steve wants to throw him out.
A post-IW, twice-over canon divergent series. In the first part, Scott and the Ant Fam (or what's left of it post-Snap) burst into a heavily depressed Steve's existence and slowly turn it into something resembling a life again, and together they hatch a plan to save the world. What that plan entails? I'm not going to spoil it here, but let's just say it's much more clever and original, not to mention more logical and emotionally satisfying than anything that happened in EG. It's a quietly humorous, suspenseful, heartbreaking, and at times brutally tender series about finding and accepting second chances when you least expect them.
To Live It Again Is Past All Endeavor by trinityofone | T, 21 K
Author's summary: Time travel bodyswap! Present-day Steve and Bucky wake up back in their old bodies in 1938, while past Steve and Bucky wake in a future where they're both built like comic book heroes and Bucky's got what he thinks is a swell future robot arm. Adventures are had, and the ethics of time travel are debated. Also, everyone trash talks Willem de Kooning.
A story that really drives home some hard emotional truths while never entirely losing its light touch. Accompany Steve and Bucky as they travel into the future AND the past, and discover their once and future selves. I call this fic "the clairvoyant one" because it features Steve and Bucky contemplating staying in the past and a subsequent discussion of the ethics and purpose of time travel that had me frantically scroll back up and check that, yes, this fic was indeed written all the way back in 2014. I then proceeded to lose my mind a little bit because it is such an eerily specific and accurate rebuttal to Steve's EG ending that I'm more than half convinced the author has clairvoyant abilities.
Where All Roads Lead by DrowningByDegrees | E, 46K
Author's summary: When Steve Rogers inadvertently touches a relic in the course of a mission gone sideways during WWII, he’s catapulted seventy years into the future. Before he's even sure where he's ended up, his search for help puts him in contact with Bucky Barnes, a historian and college professor who has built a career around studying Captain America. With Bucky's help, Steve means to find out how exactly he ended up in 2017, and solve the bigger mystery of how to get home. There's just one problem. The closer they get to their goal, the less certain Steve is that he wants to go home.
A Shrunkyclunks AU where Steve accidentally time travels straight from WW2 to the 21st Century. It's funny and heartbreaking, well-written and cleverly plotted. Also features beautiful art by alby_mangroves that not only beautifully augments the story, but actually is a part of it, too.
The Restoration Artist by superheroresin | E, 109K
Author's summary: As a conservator of rare oil paintings for The Met, Steve Rogers thinks of himself part scientist, part archaeologist, but hardly an artist in his own right. Only when he’s faced with the daunting task of restoring a frozen painting from a recently unearthed Nazi art hoard does he start to feel his passion for the craft return. Before he has a chance to understand what that means, Steve is transported to the 1940’s, where he meets both The Winter Soldier himself, and his own destiny.
A Shrinkyclinks AU in which art conservator Steve travels through time to save Bucky... who has been trapped in a painting...? Mystery! Romance! Art Talk! I practically inhaled this thing in one go, despite the length. This is a really lovely story, full of clever ideas and twist and turns that will keep you guessing. And on top of that you'll learn a whole lot about art restoration! What's not to love?
the world on fire by burlesquecomposer | M, 62K
Author’s summary: Steve loves old vinyl records, doodles on his files, and cannot remember a time that he didn't serve the TVA. And that suits him just fine—that is, until stray variant Bucky Barnes, fresh out of HYDRA's grasp, drops into his time theater and makes Steve question everything he believes in.
A really well written fic that has time travel and variants and alternate timelines and parallel universes and... you get it. A whole lot of timey wimey stuff, but the author keeps track of it all and ties up everything beautifully in the end. A super fun premise, clever plotting, wonderful characterizations, and a firm grasp on the SteveBucky dynamic in every incarnation/iteration/variation. It's a really lovely fic and I think it deserves a lot more love and attention.
On the Cover of Dawn by adeepeningdig | T, 6K
Author's summary: “Listen,” Bucky says again, and pads to Steve, book still in hand. “I’d sell my soul for that/fawn/of a boy night walker/to sound of the ‘ud & flute playing/who saw the glass in my hand said/“drink the wine from between my lips.” He kisses Steve then, insistent, tongue sweeping into his mouth, body to body. Steve buckles beneath it. Two stories. One poem.
I'm cheating a little with this one... maybe. To be perfectly honest, I don't really know what's going on here even after I read this several times. Is it time travel? An alternate universe? Reincarnation? None of it at all? The thing is, I'm not sure the reader is meant to definitively know or understand what exactly is happening, and ultimately, it doesn't really matter. What does matter is the poignancy, the beautiful, at times lyrical language, and the reassurance that Steve and Bucky will find and love each other in every possible universe and incarnation. Also features one of my favorite George Barnes scenes ever.
From Tralfamadore, With Love by newsbypostcard | E, 106K | Part 1 in From Tralfamadore series
Author's summary: In 2018, Steve, Sam, and Bucky embark on a mission to explore a Hydra-owned warehouse when a kid with mutant powers sends Steve 18 years into the future. Steve's just as in love with Bucky as he was when he left, but for Bucky it's been a long 18 years. As he gets used to life in 2036 and the flaws in Bucky's idyllic life expose themselves, Steve also has to manage a suspiciously ubiquitous security force, a Brotherhood of Mutants, and old competing loyalties among his aged friends. There's a Bucky in 2018 waiting for him to come home, but if he does that, it means leaving this Bucky behind for a third, unforgivable time. How can he choose?
Yes yes, I recced this not too long ago, I know. But there is simply no way in hell that I'm going to put together a time travel rec list and NOT include this fic. The summary is pretty self-explanatory, and I really don't want to reveal anymore than that. Much of the tension and emotional drama in this fic comes from not knowing what's going to happen, and from desperately guessing at how on earth the author is going to solve Steve's impossible dilemma. I loved the way the author explored the relationship of a Steve and a Bucky who have been separated for two seconds and 18 years, respectively. Also, possibly the best use of a Fleetwood Mac song in fanfic ever.
🕰 +3 To Reads:
Savage God by PottersPink | M, 36K
Author's summary: Past, present, future, Steve knows Bucky Barnes. It’s why he recognized him when he found him in that alley in April of 1942, even though Bucky was older, stronger, wearier; he called himself The Asset, and had a metal fucking arm. The Asset was only with Steve in 1942 for a few days, but it’s enough to change the course of Steve’s life forever.
Seventy years later, Steve wakes up in the twenty-first century, and he doesn’t know whether to be heartbroken or hopeful when some of the things Bucky revealed to him in 1942 start falling into place.
Every You, Every Me by Starshot | E, 48K
Author's summary: Desperate to follow when Bucky ships out to war in 1943, Steve volunteers for Project Rebirth, an experimental program meant to turn him into the world’s first super-soldier. Instead it fails, leaving him with a condition dubbed “Chrono-Impairment” which sees him travelling uncontrollably through time, to random points in both his and Bucky’s lives.
But with Bucky brainwashed into working for HYDRA, and Steve living life on the run, torn between his own time and Bucky’s, will they ever find the happy ending they so desperately desire? (AKA the Stucky AU based on the book, "The Time Traveler’s Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger)
a day in the life by powerfulowl (StuckyFlangst) E, 20K
Author's summary: Steve wakes to the sound of someone moving about in the kitchen below him. He lies for a few moments, trying to recall—a dream?
He looks over at the nightstand and there is a piece of card propped up there. He reaches out to take it.
You are Captain America. You are Steve Rogers. It is 1956. You are married to Peggy Rogers, nee Carter. You live in New Jersey. Sometimes you have trouble remembering.
Steve Rogers wakes up on Tuesday October 30 1956, and doesn't seem to remember his life that well. Why does every day feel so familiar? And why does he keep getting visited by tall, dark, handsome men who remind him of Bucky?

You know just seeing all the talks about Scooby Doo reboots and re-watchin the old movies and shows, got me thinking on things I'd like to see in a remake, 'adult' or otherwise.
I'd love to see a Scooby Doo where it's a healthy mix of both the monsters are people in rubber masks and tricked out costumes and Werewolves, vampires, zombies and ghouls are real. This is why Shaggy and Scooby are hesitant to directly deal with the spooks the gang come across, because while most of the time it is a dude in a mask, there's still the chance of it being the genuine deal and
Give me a Fred who looks like he's the high school baseball star and small town sweet heart but is a huge dork, auto mechanic and somewhat engineering nerd who loves his traps and mechanical marvels. He's eager to share, and fell in love with mysteries and the like after something like a good mystery podcast or novel, and decided to investigate right away the first time a mystery lands in Coolsville/Crystal Cove/their hometown. It leads to him running into the individuals that would become his best friends and Mystery Inc.. He's the 'face' of the group, the one who put out his number and talks to the clients to set up investigations and the Mystery Machine was a van he rebuilt and painted.
Give me a Daphne who is still girly and loves her fashion and trends, but is also an avid journalist, martial artist of some form, and the one with the most connections. She gets the gang rides when the Mystery Machine on it's own won't cut it, she gets them the hotels, and just general things like that because of extended family or people she's befriend. Occasionally she uses the money her parents send her way, but for the most part, she uses her own inherent personable nature to help her and her friends along. She's also the gangs note take, and has a file on each case carefully catalogued and stored away. It would've been Velma that did so, but when she gets enthusiastic her hand writing tends to start becoming illegible to everyone else, so Daphne takes over the case notes and complies everything when it's solved for if they ever need it later.
Give me a Velma who studies various sciences and languages and is a straight A student, but who also dabbles around in old stories, mythologies, and cryptids as a secret hobby before throwing herself into it fully after the first time her and her friends encounter something supernatural that she can't explain in a way normal sciences could. She's the 'forensic' expert of the time, working out the details of how the man in the mask is able to pull off their 'supernatural' feats, while also examining the actual supernatural things to figure what exactly they're dealing with because different creatures have different rules and you don't want to mix those up. She helps Fred build his traps, or at least reigns them in enough to be feasible. She actually met Fred in a shop class/engineering class and he'd made an off hand comment about a trap idea that she responded to and it spiraled from there. She makes the little details the whole gang collects work into one coherent picture.
Give me a Shaggy who is still an anxious, eats a lot, and is goofy but who's also the most athletic of the crew, gymnastics/track team, has a slew of odd little talents from hobbies he took up as kid, and cook like no one's business. He and Scooby, despite wanting the least to do with the actual supernatural things some how has the most contacts on the supernatural side of things like how Daphne has with humans. He does ironically meet Daphne first, while she's taking her mother's dog to the groomers the same day Shaggy's taking Scooby and they hit it off. Like the gang investigates a town saying that Dracula is terrorizing them, and Shaggy helps clear it up because he happens to know the particular vampire because he helped coach his daughter's volleyball team one summer, and said daughter shrieks in delight when she sees coaches Shaggy and Scooby again and asks when they'll coach again. He makes sure the gang stays fed, keeps up the first aid supplies, and the other things that fall under that blanket.
Give me a Scooby, who is a nervous great dane that has an appetite and dry wit to match his 'owner's'/best friend's but is a mystery the gang is lowkey trying to solve because he doesn't match any supernatural creature Velma can find but no one knows how can talk and even he wants to know, and who despite seeming like a coward is one of the first run back to defend his friends from a monster, real and not. He knows that there's something a bit more going on for the group, something watching them and waiting but it doesn't mean harm so he doesn't bother it too much and focuses more on his humans. He's the one who makes sure that the gang takes a step back and breathes, he helps Shaggy through anxiety/panic attacks, brings Velma the vegetarian chili from dinner while she's hunched over an analysis and comparing stories, makes Fred sit after he's been pacing for 30 minutes to look at a new angle, and makes sure Daphne sleeps when she's caught up looking through old cases to find similarities/connections cause they know there's one to the latest case they're working, he keeps them in the moment and helps make sure that this thing they're doing stay fun.
All I want is these 4 kids/young adults who meet for one mystery, and decide they like what they did and carrying that on from like high school and through college. They'll poke fun at each other, good naturedly of course, but they're there for each other through thick and thin and will solve any mystery that crosses their proverbial door step, especially if they start finding connections and clues to something bigger.

Trying to spread some positivity in the OC community today, so: tell me ten random facts about Iris Winchester! Whatever fun little tidits you can think of, tell us about them!! <3
DOLLY! You're so incredibly kind <3 I'm sorry I didn't answer this sooner, I've been busy!
So, facts about Iris, my beloved!
She's more of a cocktail drinker than a drinker for the sake of alcohol. Like, she will drink gin from Hawkeye's still, but she prefers mixed drinks like caipirinha or calimocho (which is called "Korea" in German, fun fact) - mainly to piss off her fancier family members who would never dare mix a good red wine with cola. She's generally a wine drinker, but doesn't do it very often during the war.
She owns a good amount of jewelry, but she initially doesn't have it with her during the war. It's only when Klinger starts crossdressing that she starts asking her parents for jewelry and the like, for the sole purpose of passing them on to Klinger. He refused her lots of time because he feels bad about her gifting him all her things, but lots of jewelry still mysteriously ends up in his possession anyways.
Honestly, she has no clue of class differences and regularly falls flat on her face because of it. Mainly, she has no real idea of what the middle class is like. She'll either assume that they live a lot like she did at home or that they're fairly poor, with pretty much no inbetween.
She's a very generous person, partially because she has no perspective on money. While some of her relatives may be stingy, she likes to throw money at people with the impression that money will solve their problems. A lot of times, it does, but oftentimes it doesn't. Then, she'll be there to emotionally support them as well. But she really has no idea of what "rich" and "poor" actually mean.
She absolutely adores ancient Roman poetry, mainly the works of Ovidius and Catullus, and can cite a lot of verses by heart. Her favourites are the raunchier ones.
Occasionally, she and Father Mulcahy hold little Latin book clubs because they're among the only ones in the camp who actually actively know Latin. Charles knows Latin too, but only bits and pieces. Iris is definitely the more Latin-oriented relative.
She has a tattoo of a quote from Catullus's carmen 5 on her upper thigh, just beneath her hip. It reads "Da mi basia mille, dein mille altera" which translates to "Give me a thousand kisses, then another thousand" which is the beginning of verses 7 and 8. The poem is about love despite the gossip, badmouthing and jealousy of others and is a reminder to Iris of her love for life.
She almost died from an accidental overdose of cough syrup when she was young. Charles saved her from dying, which is part of the reason why they're so close in the present day. When visiting her in the hospital afterwards, he gifted her a book on Roman poetry, which sparked her keen interest in the topic.
Charles and Iris are cousins and they're over ten years apart in age. As such, Charles actually helped raise Iris and has always had a soft spot for the little girl that continues on into their joint service at the 4077th. He considers her an honorary little sister.
Iris is very rebellious where her family is concerned. Her family, including Charles, is very conservative, but she's having none of it. She's a drinker, she's bisexual, she's a woman in the army (shocking! But at least she made it to Captain) who joined voluntarily, to her family's dismay, and she's known for being very promiscuous in all of her relationships, whether they're romantic, sexual, or just platonic. One of the prettiest girls in camp, it's not like there's a lack of options to be had.
Thanks so much for your ask!!!

PART OF → The Palms Universe. Which is a futuristic multi-genre universe. Though this specific sector of that universe is inspired by 80s comic books, the noir genre, horror, and found family (and family trauma).
SETTING → This is essentially a simulation that's part of a planet separated from our earth. And on that planet is in an area called 'Whispering Sands' for those who want to be technical, and 'Whispering Palms' for the locals who believe the palm trees are filled with surveillance that listen more than the desert sands do.
It's a place where superpowers exist but no one really talks about them because of how they came to be. Some labs have attempted to duplicate these powers in the past, but over the years, these labs have disappeared or ran out of business ; or so people think.
The universal agency keeps an eye out for people who have attempted to play 'hero', so when their 'superman' archetype pops up, he's kind of struck down to make a statement for everyone to not to attempt the same thing. so now, in this area, no one shows off their powers except for when they're in various safe zones, which people avoid because no one understands those with powers.
triggers: c*mic book & noir themed-esque crime violence, family drama, mother-daughter manipulation, abduction, mind-control, unreality, government bs, ghosts, paranoia, and death.

short summary
→ claudia dardashti has recently been fired from attempting to make it through the 'universal agency' training program because she spotted her superior officer harming his wife when he believed no one was watching. she loses her temper on him and uses powers she did not recall having.
her life then begins to spiral out of control after she visits her father at his hotel to tell him about these powers and what had happened, and instead, while being nosy, she notices a photo of her missing daughter in his desk drawer and a photo of her deceased younger brother beside it...then she proceeds to find her father's dead body in his room when she goes to confront him about the photos.
and not just that, she finds the date her younger brother died and the date her daughter went missing written on the walls in black marker. a usb is found with it, but before she can really do anything about what she's found, due to how horribly old the tech is, her adoptive mother blames her and his other 2 adoptive children for his death, and hands claudia a letter.
the letter states claudia's heiress of the dardashti fortune and properties, so she stops over-thinking what she saw the night of her father's death and just occasionally looks at the photos she found, but she attempts to not over-think things. however, people continue to die in the hotel she stays at with her husband after her father's death, mostly drownings, and claudia doesn't really think much of it, until she begins to see the ghosts of the deceased and she begins to understand that the mess all started when she began to make friends and spark an attraction with the stunning blonde woman who began staying at the hotel the week her father died.
eventually, she comes to find there are missing pieces in her memory, and these missing pieces are related to this woman - rachel - who says she's known her since they were children from the same genetics lab. which kind of makes claudia laugh, but it's whatever, until rachel tells her how clouds brother died. and that she knows where claudia's daughter is. along with the fact that...ding ding ding, she's asleep in a lab right now, and was looking to save her daughter, and needs to wake up to find her.
but uhm, yeah, rachel won't let her wake up despite telling her this. and claudia has to keep solving mysteries and the problems rachel gives her until she figures out the right clue to wake up.

Characters
Claudia Dardashti → Main Character. Anti-Hero. A bit of a little shit, but well-meaning and has a big heart. She's from a town called 'Hysteria Heights' which is outside of the Palms. I want to say her life was normal before this, but that would be a lie, her life has been an experiment to see how her and her two adopted - powered - siblings adapt to a normal life from the moment they were adopted. Which meant, in their town, no one could leave, and no one knew why, except for her father. But in the Palms her whole issue she's going through now, is likely due to her being kidnapped after trying to save her daughter. So now she has to save herself by escaping this simulation to actually do that. Ooof.
Rachel Temperance → A main character. Villain. Causes trouble for Cloud. Very much her anti-soulmate. Very much her other-half. Very much another person in the simulation put there to make sure Claudia doesn't get out, even though she tells Cloud she's there so she 'sees' a way out. Out of the simulation and in it, I feel like they get bored when they're not taking on each other.
More to Come.

So, here's the five dossiers I have. Sadly, they're as good as you imagined- absolute rock-bottom journalism. I barely got any new information and I doubt Miss Croft (if she got the "dossiers") would be impressed by this. Maybe that's the saddest "research" I have ever come across. If you need to hire a journalist you better skip on Luddick.

Transcript of the first, second and third page:
Our biggest surprize today was guess whom? Fucking Bouchard! He had business with either Eckhardt or Vasiley, what were the chances? He came all the from from Paris to Prague, I don't know why, but apparently I could contact him in some way. The number I have and the password I got might reveal themselves useful. I'd prefer to only talk to Bouchard about Vasiley and not his business, I like to like to solve this mystery. Also, have you noticed Luddick hasn't even found out his first name?
Tumblr media
Transcript of the fourth page:
The next dossier is on Eckhardt, which is a joke since it's one paper. His first name is supposedly Pietri, which sound Slavic but it's unconfirmed anyway. He's based in Prague, is head of the Mafia in Prague (which would tie the killings to non-supernatural reasons) and shoudl be about 60, which is like 500 years less than of he was the Eckhardt from the Middle Ages. Which, given all the information I have connected so far makes less sense than my theories. I never thought I'd say it, but it is more likely this Eckhardt is the medieval one.

This is her! This is the woman on the Icon of Passionforresearchion, if it's her actual name, she is Kristina Boaz. Perhaps someone used her name and photo or perhaps it is her...anyway, it is a familiar name. Now she has a name and also an occupation, apparently she's the director if the Strahov Psychiatric Institute, where I need to go. She also specialized in regeneration of tissue and cryogenic states which makes me think she surely knows our Christian friend, Grant Mueller?

Transcript of the sixth page:
So this guy, Joachim Karel, is a new face. All that's on him is that he's also part of the Mafia, he is based in Paris (which makes me think he has ties to Bouchard/Vasiley/Eckhardt) and it's unsure where his origin is. He seems almost as mysterious as Eckhardt, I'll try to look into him.

Transcript of the seventh page:
Again, who the fuck is that now? Again, Mafia, again, perhaps working with Eckhardt and being in his fanclub, he's based in Amsterdam aaaaand owns The Agency. Which is, as far as the internet goes, a private mercenary group. Wanna bet they are also involved in some way in the murders?
Tumblr media
Transcript of the eighth page:
Quick theory: The Agency is a security service and a mercenary group as well, they have bouncers, apparently hitmen and work for military and police work. Kurtis Heissturm Trent has Lux Veritatis blood, he also has or had a dispute with Eckhardt who wants to get rid of the LV and vice versa. Marten Gunderson runs The Agency, which have their main bureau in Munich, Germany.
What if: Trent's father was murdered by Eckhardt/Agency/Gunderson which is not one person but just antagonists to him; thus, Kurtis seeks revenge and tracks these guys down, which- makes him be here, actively working on gunning them down. So if I'm correct, Kurtis and Lara are working on the same thing, and I'm following them. Yeah, the trail of death should be correct and i'm on the right way.
I'll look up the names in hopes to find more on them, and walk around Vasiley's gallery in case I can slip in. It's closed off but I hope Prague police has better things to do and I can check his place out. If Lara Croft was here, she probably already entered his place, which makes it easier for me if she hasn't left a...surprise for me.
