Hey in your video you mentioned the leak from a future episode about millie plot and I wondered if you could share the screenshots and things here? Please and thank you if you do
Normally I'd considering sharing leaks amongst the animation community to be morally unacceptable
but this is a genuinely fcked up thing for Viv to allow if this is real , and for that reason I'll share a portion of it here down below
I received this from a friend via Google Drive, that allegedly originated from a (now fired?) ex member of Spindle Horse, who posted this stuff to their portfolio either on accident, or they posted it, forgetting to private the portfolio.

But yeah no joke , this ghost's entire thing is to read your deepest insecurities and fears, and he tells Millie she's a bad wife
and Millie goes to kill herself over it
Blitz is the only one who stops her in time
What a nasty joke for a character Millie is. Again, if this is real, then Viv's entire defense over Millie on twitter was completely useless nonsense if it wasn't already. Helluva Boss doesn't pass the bechdel test and Viv's shows are not woman-lead. Its so ironic that this show is written by a woman... like how did we get here. How did this happen?
For her sake, I hope she deletes this episode or changes this scene so Millie has actual legitimate insecurities to consider stepping off for this situation. (Actually I take that back, just delete the episode. This stuff is extremely heavy and triggering, I don't think ALL our characters need to be subjected to this nonsense since we've been through a lot of this already. Moxie has already been told he's a weak burden. Blitz has already been told he's an asshole who is gonna die alone. Several times over, mind you. Its over done. Try something else, Viv pls. This isn't new or interesting information.)

Pls do some self promo here of your art (saw your pinned, tell us about it)
I make a weekly horror comic called The Backmaker that updates every Friday that you can read here. the story is about the main character Alice (white hair) being haunted by a strange dream. it's based on some weird dreams that I had when I was a kid that I decided needed to be a full story. here's a panel of the main characters making a horrible discovery in their youth (act 1)
Tumblr media
I've also been slowly revamping my old webcomic, Swan, in my spare time! it's nowhere near close to being fully plotted out at this point but I've been debating making it a mix of prose and comics/illustrations since it's a little complicated and I think trying to do it as a full webcomic all by myself might take the rest of my life lmao. all that I have to publicly show for it are some drawings of Keira and Cailín, who are no longer the main characters and actually just side characters (well Keira's the secondary main character but Cailín has been demoted to side character). I love drawing them they're my oldest ocs that have still stuck around and they're my beautiful girls and I love them. it's a fun faerie fantasy romp in a wild untamed magical world
Tumblr media
I also made a full animatic with them last year which is not canon to their story but I'm still very proud of it
youtube
because I am a professional storyboard artist and STILL LOOKING FOR WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! somebody PLEASE hire me my biggest strengths are being very fast and staying in character. I'm a valuable asset I've got 8 years of experience I won't disappoint you
I'm also taking commissions rn on account of not having a job rn so if you're interested shoot me an email ;)

wait you said you did an animatic on your main blog! is that for traffic series’s, is it posted here?
Oh right yes I was meaning to mention this here!! Thank you ahaha
Okay so YES! I did do an animatic, it’s for Empires SMP! No it’s not posted here yet because I am kind of unsure about what do with it… Let me explain.
Over the summer I had to do a big project for school, and it was entirely self-directed with no supervision. That meant it had to be about something I’m Really Passionate About to make sure that it would actually get done. So naturally I chose Empires! I got in touch with Pixlriffs and got his permission to use his audio for a school project (he said yes, thank you Pix <3) and then, audio in hand, went nuts and roughly storyboarded out 8min of an animatic in a single night.
When getting the project approved I told the professor, “hi I am going to do an 8 minute full colour animatic in two months while taking a full course load of classes” and he said
Tumblr media
So the plan became to begrudgingly take a 2-3 minute excerpt of the audio and just do that for the class. And I did! And it slapped!! Full colour, rendered paintings you know and love from floweroflaurelin, except they’re moving a little bit. And Pixlriffs is there talking.
I figured at the time that once the semester was over I would paint the other 6 minutes of the animatic on my own time!! How hard could that be, right?? Except Things Kept Happening With School, and once it was over I was moving to a new place and getting sick and Tango’s desk mat took priority, and suddenly it’s over a month later with Do Those Other Six Minutes still on my to-do list.
The real kicker was that one of the Things That Happened With School resulted in me not getting feedback on the project—the teacher wasn’t able to really look at it. I got a grade, but a series of ridiculous circumstances meant that all that work was only briefly glanced at and a grade hastily entered, which was frustrating and resulted in me resenting the project a bit, since I worked hard on something I loved and it got no appreciation at all.
I’d love to share it with people who would appreciate it, which is to say, other fans!! But the thing is—as much as I want it to be Done the way I intended when I storyboarded it out initially, I won’t have the time to paint those six minutes any time soon: Huevember is in a couple weeks, and that’s a big commitment! But in my mind it’s not a complete project unless it’s a Complete Project. So I’ll put the question to you:
So yeah let me know! I’m still pretty busy but either way I want to revisit the animatic, either to paint more frames or to get it prepped for posting (something I’m not sure how to do yet).
(Also good news about Things Happening With School: I graduated yesterday!! Bachelors degree with honours, baby! Maybe now that school is behind me I can turn a new page where that project gets shared 😆)

Roguefort Time-loop AU? yeah
This one is kind of still cooking but I figured that sharing it would help me rearrange my thoughts a bit, maybe motivate me a bit.
Explanation under cut
It started because I was talking with a friend about Almondfort like any other day. Like, the one drawing I did some...weeks? ago with Roguefort going "I don't think we are meant to fall for each other, detective", that one, I wanted to do a angsty story for a change and I don't remember which one of us brought up Will Stetson's cover of Phony (I think it was my friend, if you haven't heart it go listen to it rn), that is the one from where the lyrics of the two last drawings come from. It evolved from there. Actually I have like, a full animatic in my head that I am so willing to make a storyboard for but POOUGHHHUJSKUAH I loose my motivation for this too easily haha
The basic points of this AU are simple: Roguefort is trying to get back their heirloom watch, fails, is sent back six months before the attempt to try again, and so it repeats until they manage to get the time-watch back. I actually have... aprox. one quarter of a oneshot related to this done? I hope I can finish it!
Anyways, I hope you guys liked this!
Tumblr media
(I have a more finished version of this, but I am not proud of it. Also it does no longer follow the AU so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

I ended up finishing another one (but it's pretty short). Admittedly it's just a side project I thought of during Christmas break, and I only ended up including what I initially planned. (Which is only up to the first verse).
Admittedly, this isn't the one I started right after I Won't Say I'm In Love, but more so something on the side that snowballed into a finished state (because I needed a break from the angst).
It's not the whole song, so there's not much art to add as preface. Here are the only fully colored frames in it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And a sleepy Wanning.
Tumblr media
Considering the references, the animatic covers up til chapter 80ish but it's not really spoilery anyway. I talk gush about stuff below. (I talk about what I referenced in here so if you don't wants spoilers for the animatic you should go check it out >.>)
"Can't count the years on one hand that we've been together."
That's literally it. That's what started the idea. That alongside the song's snappy beat made me think of 1.0 and how the way he just "hates" Wanning whilst looking out and seeking his attention.
So, to put it in a way, the animatic is more like: I hate you, but I'm still into you. (Even considering his past with the person)
Tumblr media
Also this storyboard is just funny, him being confused while counting out how long they've been together. (I guess that's a spoiler in a way, gahah).
In the actual finished piece, the title is included in the background as if it's a part of the set piece which I find absolutely silly and decided to go for it. Just watching that sequence taken seriously is... gets me every time lmaoo.
Tumblr media
----
The transitions
I want to talk about the transitions for a bit, it was in the storyboards alongside (what I'd like to call) the funny turn around coz it's literally a spinning shot of ranwan I considered to be kind of daunting coz those shots are hard.
Tumblr media
(Look I know height diff in the storyboard, but I googled a bit and I found out that 1.0 and CWN are almost the same height)
Tumblr media
Also those full body pics ended up being used a lot in that sequence, pretty neat though considering back views are hard.
The animation in the middle ended up being a video I greenscreened because my video editor started lagging with the frames. (it ended up being for the better because I added another track later on.
Tumblr media
My cousin made me a pretty collage using the two full bodies and the other frames from I Won't Say I'm In Love and I ended up using it as my wallpaper xD.
Tumblr media
And it's also said cousin who improved the 4 shots before the zoom in by making the sequence more funny and exaggerated. Arguably that zoom in shot with the background opening up into another shot...
My favorite really. The background are two black halves of the screen and the full bodies are both on separate layers and they're all animated to zoom out to give the impression of the camera zooming in.
From the storyboards, I initially planned it to be a bamboo grove in Red Lotus Pavillion transitioning into Mo Ran tying up Xia Sini's hair with the bamboo as foreground, but decided against it as 1.0 was not aware of Xia Sini's identity.
Instead, I opted for another favorite scene in chapter 75 with CWN saving Mo Ran in Peach Blossom Springs which also has this passage I really like.
Tumblr media
(smithereens) He really got shooketh there.
Tumblr media
The next scene stayed the same as planned and is the moment in chapter 32 where Mo Ran is grumpily feeding Wanning medicine, which then transitions into the funny turn around scene.
Tumblr media
The frames transitioning from their first meeting to the New Year together was something that ended up developing later on. (I love the New Year frames, I love how Mo Ran's eyes light up as he looks at Wanning, I love how the fireworks are falling in the background and how the golden light is reflected off of Wanning's eyes—)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The spin sequence wasn't as hard as I expected. But that's probably because I've done it too much I kinda know what to do?
---
Last Additional Stuff
I think most of what I wanted to talk about is just the transitions and the spin around. The title at the start too as well as Mo Ran acting like a little shit. Also pointing out how I keep forgetting how his hair clip is supposed to be on his left lmao.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not definite yet, but I'm kind of considering expanding it somewhere in the far future. Closing this off with a Mo Ran cut out.

I need help arranging my portfolio for my grad school application and I thought I'd ask here on the off chance anyone could help me.
Generally, I see the advice that you should start with your 2 strongest pieces and end with another strong piece. Which I feel is good advice for people working within one medium. I have a bunch of different stuff that I don't know how to arrange it.
I'm applying to study Sequential Arts to become a Storyboard Artist. This is not a field I've previously studied or worked in, although I did go to film school. What the portfolio is really looking for is 1. Ability to draw people 2. Ability to draw environments and 3. The ability to draw people in environments.
Here's what I have in a tentative order and what/why it is there:
Digital painting
Demonstrates ability to draw figure in an environment and is in full color, something that immediately grabs your attention
Sample Storyboards
Not my most polished work but I am applying to study storyboarding so I figured these should be up there in viewing order. B&W.
Character Model Sheet
Demonstrates Character Design. B&W. (Might be able to color before submission?)
Various Artworks
A few middle pieces of full color character portraits and concept art. Demonstrating I know how to draw.
Senior Thesis Short Film
This was written, directed, and edited by me and is a demonstration of my undergraduate education.
Original TV Pilot Script
Writing sample to demonstrate my knowledge of constructing a narrative.
Digital Artwork
Unsure which specifically to end on but selecting either another digital painting or perhaps a colored short animatic.
I also have some photography work but I feel like I should skip that because I don't want my portfolio too crowded and it seems more fringe related than the other works. I also have more video work I could add, but I feel like I should stay mostly drawing focused.
My short film and the script have me most confused on where to put them.
Anyone have any thoughts?

sorry if this sounds rude, but genuine question: why make Heartwork a “slide show” storyboard instead of an animatic video? not to infer the later would be “superior” or anything, i’m just curious about the productions pros and cons, if that makes sense
(love the first part, can’t wait for next thursday!)
not rude at all! and i understand that the medium may not be enjoyable for some people. i've been making a very conscious effort to make it accessible to folks that aren't very accustomed to reading storyboards but it's inevitable it won't be everyone's taste.
the preface to this answer is that i am one guy making this thing in my free time for fun so most of this answer boils down to "i only have so much time in my life" and "i find some aspects of animatics not fun" lol
art-wise, spending less time on the animation/animatic aspect of storyboarding gives me more time and capacity to flesh out the drawings closer to like a black & white comic than actual storyboards, which lets me build the world out more clearly. i'd have to sacrifice time on art to be able to have time on animatic production (i mean i guess i could theoretically try to not sacrifice time on any end but that would drastically increase the amount of work and time a chapter takes and would be unsustainable lol). my hope was also that with clearer art, the storyboard medium might be more understandable and easy to adjust to for people who don't look at storyboards often.
and production-wise, the fully honest answer is a personal preference that i don't feel like animatics are worth the amount of labor and time they take to make if they don't have audio! whenever i'm a viewer of storyboard animatics, i find myself getting impatient and antsy to silent animatics and preferring to control the pacing myself with click-thru boards. and i absolutely do not have the capacity or resources to make full animatics with audio haha :'D
an option i had been considering making for people who don't like the tapping through is that maybe down the line i could post a recorded "pitch" video of the full chapters, like a storyboard pitch you do at professional studios. i'd have to gauge how much interest there is in that kind of thing and if i even have any more than like 4 people reading my series anyway lmao

Patreon Voting For June's Animation Is Open!
A little late making this post, but I wanted to make sure all the options had clear storyboards!
EVERY tier can vote, no matter how small! Every patron also gets their name in the credits!
1. Choice by Jack Stauber (The Hallowed)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Length: ~45 seconds
Finish: Full color - minimal animation
A short animation following the main characters as they one-by-one become corrupted by the Monsters they try so hard to protect. Fast-paced, full of symbolism, and easy enough to grasp without knowing anything about the characters beforehand!
2. Buzzfeed Unsolved - Andi + Arlo (Whisper Court)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Length: ~7 minutes
Finish: Uncolored sketches - occasional lipsync
A collection of clips from Buzzfeed Unsolved with the main paranormal investigators from Whisper Court. Most likely will remain this level of finish unless the votes for it are overwhelmingly positive
3. Right As Rain by Vocacircus (Zero Escape)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Length: 2:45
Finish: Full color - minimal animation
I recently finished Zero Escape and I got absolutely BLASTED by the true ending. This is a spoiler-filled animatic of the true ending and the path it takes to get there
If you are NOT a Patron yet, you can become one by clicking HERE! (Reminder: a Patron of ANY tier can vote and get their name in the credits!)

2022 Art Summary
Tumblr media
Sooooooooooooooooo, how late do I need to be to be considered fashionably late? Do I need to wait another month?
Anyway, here’s my 2022 art summary! I had to get a little unconventional just cause this year really wasn’t an art year haha. These aren’t in any specific order. My reflection questions are under the cut!
What events did you participate in (with art)? Player Appreciation Week, Pidge Angst Bang (raffle art), Code Secret Santa
What was your biggest challenge this year? I think my biggest challenge would have to be time. Just like with writing, school kind of swallowed up my chance to draw pretty effectively. That being said, I also had a rough time because I literally had 6 months of no consistent device. Trying to art while having a rotation of laptops that didn’t work right was very not ideal. And searching through all my files to find the art pics to compile for this kind of sucked too haha. Oh, and there was period of time where I legit thought I was going to need to leave CSP cause they were making some very questionable decisions. They’ve since gone back on the most important one though, so I think I probably will at least try.
What was something you were surprised by? I got to try out drawing with a 2 in 1 laptop/stylus which was interesting! I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I expected, even with lower pressure sensitivity and such. I also think I was surprised this year by just how much of a different filters can make. I’d messed around with them some last year, but hooboy, they’re a toolbox I feel like I’ve barely opened now.
Where do you think you most improved? Maybe my coloring? I was a lot less shy about coloring in different ways this year and I think it worked in most cases! I also think that I’m slowly getting more comfortable with just saying screw it with anatomy, which might not actually be improvement per se, but it means I’m more willing to try and fail which is always good for art.
What are you most proud of? I’m really not sure, tbh. I really like the lighting in the star wars au art, and I was proud of the Code Lyoko group picture just because I went for a huge group picture on a tight time frame and tried shading. That being said, I think I’m most proud of myself for storyboarding my 30 minutes animatic. That thing makes me so happy when I look at it and I really do like how it turned out, especially considering it’s my first time actually creating full thumbnails. I don’t actually have the thumbnails included above but the mountain/Player one in the bottom row is a concept sketch I created for one part of the animatic.
How’d this year compare to your 2022 goals? To be honest, not very closely haha. I was expecting art to be easier to combine with school since its lower brain power for me, but it was about as limited as writing. I do like what I did make though! In terms of specifics, I’m just going to go list item by list item from my last year’s reflection.
-Brushes: I’d say for how little art I did this year, I think I actually did try a fair amount of new brushes! Particularly with coloring, but also in doodles. -Shading and Lighting: I think comparatively I did okay in this area too. I definitely didn’t do as many colored pieces as I’d like, but I did almost as many colored/shaded pieces as doodles, which is a huge step forward from last year! -More Dynamic Scenes and Positions: Hmmmmmmmmm this one is hard to say. I do think I was a little more adventurous this year, but I definitely could have branched out from my comfort zone a bit more. -Experiment With 3D Sets!!!: Hahahhhhhaahhahahhahahahhahaa yeah, I don’t know that I even touched these this year oops. So gonna have to go with a hard fail on this one. -Post More: Mmmmmmmmm yeah no, this one also was not great. I think everything I posted was part of an event. Most of the art in my summary hasn’t even been shared outside my main 3-person discord server haha.
Alrighty then, now it’s time for 2023 goals!! Okay, so I’m really hoping that I’ll be able to do more this year. I missed creating a lot last year and I’ve got so much I’d like to do. It’s really hard to say with the uncertainty of a new school/program, but so far I’ve already created more art than last year, so my fingers are crossed. Having my Acer Spin with its built in wacom stylus really seems to have made a difference, so here’s to hoping! Specifics: -One fully colored piece per month -Finish Huntlow comic -Player Appreciation Week -Add to zine portfolio -Apply to at least one zine as an artist (fine if don’t get accepted) -30 minutes animatic digitalize rough draft -Pull out some old WIPs -Keep experimenting with backgrounds and shading -Maybe make some fanart of my favorite fics? As an author I’ve always been so flattered by those so I’d love to do the same for others -Build more consistency of style Overall, how’d the year go? I definitely don’t think it went the way I was hoping for it too, but at the same time, I made so much progress on animatics and really did try some new stuff out, so I don’t think it was too bad! Cutting myself some slack for quantity, I think I’m proud of most of what I did and have continued to gain experience/confidence. I’m looking forward to this year! Also as a reward for anyone who got this far, please take this quality finger art I did while trying to get a feel for angles of an angst scene. It was late and clearly my brain was not in angst mode by the end lol. Obviously, this is my true best art of the year.

A lil short animatic I made today!! Nivvie isn't having a fun time but I certainly had making this
I also!! Wanna get into my process for animating a bit cuz I've uploaded multiple things but never really got into explaining h o w I make my things (despite finding those things really fun)
First, I make a general storyboard based on the audio I wanna include, see the one I made for this one;
Tumblr media
As you can see, it's not very clear and has some changed things from the finished product! I always make sure to note down my ideas for camera work, but those are also as loose as can be. The important thing for me in the first storyboard is ideas!
After that, I redraw those sketches in my animation software. I used Storyboard Pro for this one, as I most often do when making animatics. When I make full animations, I use Toon Boom Harmony, as I have a free license for both due to being an art student. However, every animation software is a good one in my opinion! I used flipaclip before college and the procreate animation tool when I still used procreate and those were pretty good too!
For me, it's just very important there's a camera function in the animation software bc those just bring a lot of life to it!
This was my first draft with sound, so without camera movements, with little details, but more clear than my first storyboard. Certain frames have changed too to suit the mood of the animation better, which is never wrong.
After these sketches, I started adding camera movements, which is almost always on try-out. The trick is keeping shots in long enough for them to be clear and to make the storytelling the clearest thing.
For example, in the shot where Klaus motions upwards to the group of kids and the adult walking up the cliff, I had the camera move to the adult, revealing it to be Bendik, Niv's adoptive dad. If I didn't do that, it wouldn't be as clear the adult and Bendik in the next shot were the same person.
After the camera stage, I line-art and add colours that add atmosphere, which is one of my favorite parts!
And after that, we have the final product :D

An Alternative to the Studio System?: Indie Animation Forges Ahead [Part 2]
youtube
continued from part 1. Split because Tumblr claimed there was an error in the post.
Otherwise, Shannon Mowatt's 16-minute animatic of Revamped, has been released in advance of the full animated pilot. It is an upcoming short queer film about four high school sophomores who deal with school life, vampires, and the supernatural world.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs, my History Hermann blog, and Wayback Machine. This was the eleventh article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on July 15, 2022.
There's the Lackadaisy film about 1920s gangster cats, based on Tracy J. Butler's webcomic. Another series, Outcasts, has cats as characters. Shou Tuzi's Tallyho! series continues to develop. It is inspired by steampunk, fantastique, and other media. Tuzi's studio, Skull Hare Studio, is also working on Arthur: The Timeless Knight.
Daniel is continuing to pursue his action adventure series, Lumeon Lands, which has begin production. These series are important to highlight when Hollywood continues to end projects and sack animators. Some have put hope in indie animation, noting it has the promise to allow creators to have "creative control" unlike working under major studios.
While there are many indie animations I could mention. [6] However, I'd like to focus on a few series in development. One of those is Sam Sawyer's SALEM, also known as Salem or S.A.L.E.M.: The Secret Archive of Legends, Enchantments, and Monsters. In May, SpectroliteAAA, the lead storyboard artist said that she could talk about it soon, but not yet. In January, Sawyer, when asked by a fan, said the same thing.
The series has been fully funded. The now-fulfilled Kickstarter defines the series as an animated story about "a cryptid with a big heart and even bigger questions, on a quest to discover their true origins".
Apart from having high-profile voice actors like Laura Bailey, Rob Paulsen, and Adam McAarthur, a tweet from the show's account confirmed Petra as asexual, Salem (who is also non-binary) as pansexual, and Oliver as gay. The series has Randy Abrams as executive producer. It is being animated with help from Surfer Jack Productions, a company said to specialize in "ingenious storytelling". The company was founded by animation industry veterans Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, Lance LeCompte, and Bernie Petterson.
There are other series in development. This includes Georden Whitman's pilot named Port by the Sea on two kids who are "sailing the seas to fix a now broken moon", Matt Acuña's fantastical adventure The Garden Age, and the Far-Fetched Show, an animated series "about a rock band of misfits" by Ashley Nichols and Dave Capdevielle.
In addition, there's a demon/vampire themed series in the process entitled Bloodgore, the psychological horror dramedy named Please Stay Tuned, the ghost-themed Ghost Hunt, a sci-fi themed SpaceAges, and many more. These are a small sampling of the indie animated series out there. [7] These persist despite the problem of distribution and funding to "make original stuff", and possible iffiness of crowdsourcing, as writer Chris Hill pointed out.
youtube
Port by the Sea's pilot will likely come out sometime later this year. The Far-Fetched Show is also moving ahead, with comics to go with the series like Wild Card. The Nichols' Patreon notes that a lyrics video for the series band, Sesemoid, is coming out later this year. This also noted they are still working on the pilot. Currently, there is wonderful fan art of the show's characters, including putting them in a Steven Universe setting, and much more.
The fact that Port by the Sea has over 1400 followers and Far-Fetched Show has over 67,600 followers, along with 406 Patreons of Nichols, proves what animator LanceArts pointed out: that the indie animation scene is "exploding with greater popularity now more than ever."
More episodes of Alpha Betas are currently in production, with recording for new episodes. Four episodes are set to be released in Fall/Winter 2022. Additionally, Lucha Vandross is fundraising for various indie animated series. This includes those inspired by 1980s Hong Kong films (Project Icarus and Project Icarus X) and a modern take on Robin Hood. The latter is about friends "robbing the rich and giving it to the poor" (Samson). [8] Animator 9Hammer is actively releasing series in Newgrounds, of all places. This includes series such as Chaotic Heart and Solace, with new episodes in production.
Others, like Warlord-of-Noodles, have ongoing series as well, which is also posted on YouTube and has a Patreon. Series like Deep States, by Molly, are on YouTube. There is the exciting 2d indie anime in development entitled Broken Beat, made by animators of prominent anime series, like Creative Theory. The series is about a protagonist, Sin, tasked with stopping the reign of the creator god, and challenged by an "endless conflict between humans and manifestors". Sin masters his form along the way.
Newgrounds is a weird place. There's a lot of terrible (and amateurish content) there, mixed with sexual content. It is more than what would YouTube would permit, and includes pornographic material. Apart from the series on hiatus by 9Hammer, Beyond the Fog, there's The Looter, and Zack and Alex. The latter, by Jayevin Abad, had its pilot posted on YouTube as well. Otherwise, there are various other series, films, and more, which have aired on the site. [9] Some shows I've noted before in this post, and elsewhere, like Ollie and Scoops, Eddsworld, Tales of Alethrion, and Satina all have pages on the site.
Apart from Newgrounds, are further series in development. This includes The Art Of Murder, produced by an Australian indie 2D animation studio named Choc Chip. It is produced by Anokhi Somaia and directed by Nirali Somaia. Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli are the series composers.
The Art of Murder is a murder mystery, musical, and pop culture parody where "sketchbook characters come to life" when the clock strikes midnight. It features voice actors like Lizzie Freeman, who also voices a character in Gods' School, Lauren Lopez, who founded a popular online musical theatre company named Team Starkid. There's also Joey Richter (part of the same theatre company), Joey Bizinger, a well-known Japanese-Australian voice actor, YouTuber, and more, and Megan Lee, a Korean-American singer-songwriter.
There's further projects of note. This includes various series by LGBTQ creators. [10] For instance, there's an animated series such as Scrappers, Swift Spark and the Defense Five, Birdboys, and Novas. Scrappers and Birdboys are by trans women, Charlie Gultiano-Wyton and Danielle Maxine specifically. Swift Spark and the Defense Five is by a trans man, Pan. Novas is by a queer and trans artist, Jesse. Scrappers is being produced by Gultiano-Wyton's animation studio, Variation Media.
Swift Spark and the Defense Five is by artist and animator, Pan, who loves Phineas & Ferb, and is based on a comic of the same name. Birdboys is by artist and animator, Danielle, with some teasers posted on her YouTube channel. Novas is the personal project of Jesse, a SCAD student, who posted a casting call for the animation on Tik Tok. What Avara, mentioned earlier in this article, stated is relevant here: support for indie creators is necessary if you "want to see diversity in animation". Part of that is LGBTQ representation.

hey everyone! its been a while.. first of all i would like to say thank you to all of the people who still follow me, even though i have been inactive on tumblr for who knows how long at this point!
for those who do not know, I am in my senior year, applying for college (hopefully by the end of this year lol) and desiring to major in animation/illustration. I have been in the process of working on my portfolio and havent been able to say this sooner and post much on all platforms which i apologize for.
you also may or may not have realized that there are a lot of posts on my blog here that have been deleted. this is because i decided to renew my accunt. instead of a trolls art tumblr account, its going to be an account where i post all the stuff i have been working on for the past year,.
. if any of you didn't feel like reading all of this (which i totally get cause i dont like to read either and didnt even proofread this lol) from now on I will post concept art for a story i am working on and hopefully will make animatics/storyboards/full-on animations when i learn how to animate. and i will post all videos on here before posting them on youtube as well.. i will make sure yall will be the first ones to see ! <3
I do have a youtube account (feegagsart) but it may get deleted when i turn eighteen and/or start going to college, right now im not sure at this point,. so for now please follow me on my instagram for updates (marcven_sketches)
thank you :) <33

What was the short film that you made about?
Also please please please more stained glass-style dimya art
i'm so glad you asked!!
i haven't like explicitly talked about it on here , but this past year for my final year of undergrad, i tackled an animated short film for my thesis illustration project. my friend was a coms major and was interested in sound design, so for her project she did that while i did......... all the rest alshdjfk (storyboards, character and prop design, animation). i did hire some other illustration majors to help by painting some backgrounds for me and they were gorgeous. and we got a comp prof to prepare a score for us, which is cool! but it turns out 9 months and One stressed girlie teaching herself how to animate 5 minutes worth of drawings was a bit ambitious, which is fine, so it's still more at the animatic stage i guess. getting to present it in both a gallery and a movie theater setting was one of the coolest moments of my life so far.
but anyway aslhjkdf it's about a baby bear who is new to the neighborhood, but struggles to make friends at the playground bc he's bigger and scarier than the other baby animals :( here's the video if you'd like to watch :)
if you don't feel like watching the full thing, here is one of my favorite shots
and here's the final poster
Tumblr media
i've gotten the copywright application (so don't steal it 😤) and i'm hoping to one day get it even more finished, but we needed a big rest after all of.. that.
as for the stained glass/art nouveau look, thank you! i'm glad you liked that piece, it turned out pretty well. if you have any ideas for what else i should do in that style (specific moments, etc) i'm always down for suggestions 👀

Staging, Story Board and Animatic
For the second half of our Sequential Structures and Contexts work for this trimester we had to use our scripts and characters to make a story board and full animate it. I had to cut down my script slightly so I could turn it into the maximum 18 frames, so some lines were missing in the final piece, but I managed to make the story relatively easy to follow. All it meant was that a few of Charles’ lines were lost in the final animatic.
First me and my friends Katlyn and Ben worked together to make a couple scenes from the “Adam’s Family” script so we could get a better understanding of staging and the angles in which the storyboards were to be made with. We make scenes in real life and recorded it with a camera to try focus on scene design. The video didn’t pick up any audio which was annoying but the scenes we recorded were made for the imagery, so I don’t think it matters much. Overall, we were able to show the story and understand what we had to do with our animatics. We used the script of the “Adam’s Family” to act out.
Tumblr media
To figure out which pieces I would make into my final piece I made several very scruffy outlines of scenes I had planned on postick notes Jeff gave us then I used them to figure out which ones were needed and which ones weren’t, then I made 18 slightly more accurate drawings for the official story board and then I moved on to making the final animatic based on these story boards.
Tumblr media
I started by making the backgrounds of the scenes first so I could reuse them for continuity. I coloured them in in dull saturated colours mostly so that it would fit the aesthetic of old cameras and the emotions felt in the scene. Then I animated the characters over the top for each frame. Once I had fully drawn the line art, I went back through to check for continuity errors such as some frames missing items they were holding before and then adding them back in and then I finally coloured them in. I gave the characters black outlines as opposed to the lineless background so they would stand out more.
Then when that was finished, I put them through Adobe Premiere Pro to put them all together. To get the shots I wanted I put some scenes through After Effects to make them pan or zoom into important items and exaggerate their importance, then to get audio I used Audacity to record free voices and copyright free sounds online and edited them into premiere pro with everything else. I used the script I made previously with the same characters to get the voice lines I wanted though I had to cut down the length of the scenes due to the number of frames I was allowed to use and how long the frames would stay on screen for.
All that was left was to put it through Media Encoder to export the video as an MP4 and I had finished. I’m quite pleased with it. Less for the sound as the only audio I could find for free wasn’t exactly what I was going for to set the scene, but I like how my drawings looked in the end. They took me the longest of everything and I’m happy that I didn’t try and make very basic background designs, or it wouldn’t have looked as nice.
I also changed a couple of frames from the original story board to fit the sequence better so there are some slight changes but none that were drastic.

Task 2: Christmas Animation
The following animation and it's prerequisite work was done using:
Hardware: An Ipad (7th Gen) and an Apple Pencil (First Gen)
Software: Procreate + Procreate Dreams (12 FPS)
Pre-Production:
I first started off with brainstorming session to decide what I wanted my animation to be about. Due to the fact that I was watching a TV Show named "The Bear" and reading a comic named "Dungeon Meshi", Both being about Food and cooking, I was inspired to make the animation about the process of making a particular Christmas dish. I had to choose a dish that had steps that were easily recognizable and simple enough so as to fit within a 20 second animation. In the end I decided to go with "Coconut/ chocolate Balls". I Wrote down the Steps to making the dish and picked out which of the steps that were the most important and Visually Interesting. In the end I ended up choosing:
The Chopping of the Ingredients
The Pouring of the condensed Milk
The Shaping of the Balls
The Spreading of the coconut Shavings
After I decided which Steps i needed to animate, I story boarded the animation.
My first Draft featured a static shot throughout, only showing the hands of the chef as they went through each of the steps:

I didn't like this Idea however and decided to do to switch the idea to one that had featured a wider variety of shots, showing the chefs full body.
After finalizing the storyboards I did a reference sheet for the character with help of a classmate, Some aspects of the design changed during production of the animation as deemed fit but the basic gist of the character remained the same:

Production:
I first started off with rough sketches for the key frames to get the posing and positioning of the elements correct , Afterwards I went in with the in-betweens to get the motion right whilst still in the rough sketch style. I separated each cut into layers, and then separated each element of each cut into their own. For cuts that featured the full body I drew the body once without the moving limb, and added the moving limb on a different layer so i didn't have to redraw the entire body on each frame. I did the same thing for objects that were moving such as the bowl and the can of condensed milk.
(Side Note: For Each Layer I used a different colour to make them easier to separate) I used a mixture of animating on 1's, 2's, and 3's though I mainly animated on 2's, only switching out to 1's for especially fast movements (Such as the knife chopping) and switching out for 3's to hold on a frame longer than usual.
I Used online videos for reference for certain movements and recorded myself for some that I could not find online (Example shown Below:)
Tumblr media
In the end I ended up with a Rough Animatic of the final Piece:

After I was happy with the overall feel of the animation, I Started Cleaning up Each Frame, Adding clean outlines, adding details (Such as faces and clothing) and adding values. In the End the finished Result came out as such:
Final-Thoughts:
Overall I feel quite mixed with the final result. I am proud of being able to finish this animation and having it resemble my original plan and I am quite proud of some cuts that appear on it, yet the overall quality jumps around with some cuts being vastly better than others. This was due to poor planning and thus time constraints, which gives the final animation a lack-luster/Rushed feel which I am not quite proud of. This feel is contributed also due to the lack of background and/or any background imagery. To sum it up, Whilst I am proud of having finished my first ever "full-length" animation, I feel like I could've done more.
