Also I am. Constantly forgetting how fucking funny Hunter is. We never give him enough credit for how funny he is because his life is so fucked up but I swear 90% of his lines are just bit after bit after bit. He's not even trying either. Anytime he actively tries to make a joke it falls flat but if you just put him in a Scenario he'll find a way to be so over invested and yet out of touch/at odds with whatever's going on. He's so autistic

On the one hand, suffering cuz Darius, Raine, and Eber finding Hunter in the woods after "Hollow Mind" and helping him is not canon 😔
On the other hand, Hunter crushing on Willow is, and he could immediately tell it was an illusion because he admires her strength so much, and he still exclusively calls her "Captain"
Tumblr media
Also his flyer derby friends care about him so much they risked safety to get him!
Tumblr media
Also Hunter and Gus becoming better friends and Gus teaching Hunter a breathing technique (that Willow taught him) warms my heart
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rip Dadrius as canon for now at least, but I'm thrilled Hunter has such good friends!!!! (and his crush on Willow is super cute)
Also to see Hunter is the one that gets to warn everyone about the day of unity is actually a nice twist I wasn't expecting, but it's also great growth for him in his redemption arc.

thinking about hexsquad cuddle piles the first night back in the demon realm <33
camila walking into the main room from outside, she had been taking in the change of scenery. and smack dab in the middle, in a makeshift nest of scavenged pillows, blankets, and whatever else deemed comfy enough to sleep on, is all her kids tangled up in blankets and eachother. warm and peaceful in what felt like an impossible moment after everything that had occurred in the past days.
hunter is a bit closer to the middle than everyone else and it’s no suprise it’s in an attempt to help him feel safer- less alone while he takes in everything. and it gives the rest of them peace of mind that they won’t nearly loose him again.
gus is smushed against the other boys’ back, arm loosely draped over hunters waist with his legs splayed out towards the edge of the nest, torso somewhat twisted to accommodate the pose. he’s so small like that- it’s a reminder of his age and even in his sleep, hunter seems to feel that sentiment too, one of his arms strewn over gus’ torso with his fingertips brushing the blankets behind the smaller boy. anyone else would assume the two were brothers all their life.
willow has the remaining of hunter’s hands clasped in her own. the grip is loose enough to be comfortable but tight enough to remind her that he’s still there, and help ground her. she’s tough, but she’s easy to shake when it comes to the people she cares about. seeing him lifeless in her lap and unable to help had been enough to wind her up. there’s a slight wrinkle between her brows that wasn’t there before, and her leg is slotted against amity’s back.
luz and amity, no suprise, are clustered together in the unoccupied bottom edge of the “nest.” amity has her head tucked beneath luz’ arm and her arms wrapped around her hips, while luz’ hands rest with one atop her head, most likely having been running through the abomination colored hair at one point, and the other tucked against her own chest.
they’re all beaten, and worse for wear than they ever have been before. everything has come to a head. but there, in the empty owl house and the moonlight shining in through the window, they’re just kids.

*banging my head against a wall* willow park needs to have a mental breakdown in season 3! She needs to address her inferiority complex! She knows shes physically strong now and tries to lead everyone but when hunter lied to her in ASIAS and betrayed her instead of blaming him for lying like everyone else she immediately folded and was like "hhhhhhhhhhhhh this is all my fault actually i shouldnt be trusted to do anything ever" and just bc hunter turned out to be Good, Actually, doesnt make her issue go away! She was right about hunter but the next time she makes a mistake in judgement she'll spiral down that mindset again!(willow telling everyone to escape through the portal and them getting trapped in the human realm, anyone?) Her inferiority complex doesnt go away if shes only confident as long as she doesnt make mistakes ever! She needs to know her friends love and trust her even if she fucks up and will help her if she does!
Also her whole "team mom" thing is sweet but shes also doing it at the cost of her own emotional health! That scene where she comforts king and gets everyone to stop arguing? Her voice was shaking! She was scared out of her mind but shes ignoring it bc she thinks its her responsibility to put everyone elses feelings before her own! Its noble and all but a major theme of toh is "putting other ppls needs before your own to the point where it harms you is bad, actually" and willow needs to learn that lesson!
Willow could and should double down on the "everyone elses feelings matter more than mine" mindset in the human world! Especially since you can make the argument that since she told everyone to go through the portal its technically her fault theyre stuck there! (Literally no one but willow would make that argument but she would be feeling guilty over it!!!!) And her friends are going to catch on to that Mentally Ill Dude Behavior (idk if hunter will bc he thinks Mentally Ill Dude Behavior is just Regular Dude Behavior and luz and amity are a mixed bag but gus will at least!) and make her realize that its okay to fuck up and rely on her friends and still be seen as strong and reliable! They only have three episodes left so they wont have time to do an in depth character arc but they should! Cut out the collectors character arc to make room if you have to! Fuck!

i really don’t like huntlow
all Willow has been used for is developing other characters. Gus, Amity, Hunter, Boscha, even Luz. she has never had her own character development that didn’t relate to others in some way. all she ever does is fix other peoples problems. Huntlow is just her fixing someone else who is broken. it’s really sad because i’m sure there would have been more development for her as a person in season 3. maybe dealing with the fact she feels like she needs to fix everyone, i would have loved that a lot. i would be be on board if the whole relationship wasn’t based on Willow fixing Hunter. even the fandom uses her to develop other characters and i really hate that, Willow deserves to have a personality outside of fixing people.

Find it funny how willow very much WAS the voice of reason a lot of the time in the demon realm but then she gets to the human realm and is so confused and scared that she sort of just sits back and tries to have fun and make memories where she can. We love a self care queen. Being stupid is good for her <3

i told y’all. i told y’all i was gonna go crazy over this post made by @gummy-goat-galaxy
full disclosure i drew literally all of this before looking into the details of the AU so this is 70% my interpretation of his original post but i need to explain my thought process so. here’s the post explaining the details of the actual AU!!! and below is what my brain made up on the spot
ok so belos finds tiny child luz and is like “fuck everyone. this is mine now” and treats her like a goddamn princess. to him, she is a Gift From God to remind him to stay on his Righteous Path. an innocent little girl who is just so bubbly and always tries to see the good in everything, including him. she is a reminder of how Pure and Good humanity is, and seeing as though she’s the literal only human he’s had any contact with besides caleb in 400 fucking years, he is never letting the demon realm corrupt her like it did to him.
she’s basically his Lamb and he the Shepherd, and because he’s so desperate to keep her “““pure”““ he strictly keeps her within the castle and even then not all of the castle is available to her. he keeps her contact with witches to an absolute bare minimum.
he entrusts her protection specifically to hunter, despite the fact he’s only 2 years older. his reasoning is “caleb did a pretty good job raising me so this’ll be fine probably.” when belos himself cannot keep an eye on her, it’s hunter’s job. luz and hunter end up being raised in a sorta similar situation to catra & adora from she-ra but they are actually siblings and not just best friends.
(if u havent seen she-ra, basically its their abusive caretaker creating a golden child + scapegoat dynamic, where one kid can do absolutely no wrong (which doesnt mean they cant still be abused/manipulated!!) while the other kid is blamed for literally everything that goes wrong. the caretaker also regularly pits them against each other to encourage competition & keep the all power in the caretaker’s hands.)
similar to catra & adora, the whole competition thing doesnt really work. luz is just too damn kind and too damn good for hunter to ever resent her, and she’s all he really has. because hunter is the scapegoat, he grows wise to belos’s manipulations WAY sooner. it’s easier to figure out when you’re being mistreated when you literally watch ur guardian treating ur sibling so much better than how they treat u.
unfortunately, because luz cannot help but see the good in absolutely everyone and can be empathetic to a fault, she doesnt realize belos’s game until she ends up sneaking out of the castle. she actually really loves belos and is thankful for him taking her in for a long time. she calls him uncle like hunter, despite belos nudging her towards seeing him as a father bcus he sees her as a pseudo-daughter. (but luz remembers her dad, and has no desire to replace him with someone else no matter how much she cares for belos)
belos does love & adore luz, he would do almost anything to keep her happy and “innocent” and “pure”, but not to the extent that he could still end up redeemed. he still manipulates & subtly emotionally abuses her to keep her in line, but it’s only when she sneaks out and meets eda the owl lady does she start getting clued into this. and once luz learns what belos has done to hunter it’s all fucking over.
hunter loves luz. she is his sister and always will be. but while he’s stuck to belos because of his duties as golden guard, she sees how green the grass is on the other side and doesn’t even hesitate to hop over there. watching her slowly grow more and more distant while she keeps sneaking out to visit with her new friends (eda, king, willow, gus, amity, etc.) is one of the most painful things hunter has had to deal with.
he feels betrayed at first, as if luz is replacing him with other people who arent broken like he is, and when luz actually leaves for good- belos lies to the public and says she was kidnapped- hunter is the one who leads the hunt to find her and bring her back home safely. when they confront each other, luz tries to do her whole dramatic speech about how wrong belos is and how he’s been lying their whole lives, but hunter already knows. the only reason he stayed was for luz, but she couldnt even stay from him? it fuckin hurts man.
they end up on opposite sides for a minute. hunter gains no satisfaction from trying to ruin this new life she’s found for herself but goddamnit, he has a job to do. he cant just defect. and then he defects after watching belos try to kill luz because she’s let herself become corrupted by the witches.
thats about all my brain got for this so far. TL;DR basically just listen to the “first time in forever” and “mother knows best reprise” and “broken crown” by mumford & sons and thats pretty much the gist of it.

When you get (badly) injured
Tumblr media
Amity: PANICC. She is calling Emira so fucking fast. Once the initial panic calms down she wraps abomination goo around the wound. Once Emria shows up she majorly calms down. Once Emria is done she makes sure you're fully alright.
Luz: Screaming and crying. I'm joking but she is scared. She quickly gets wrap-around band-aids with normal fun band-aids on top. Makes sure you are healing properly. Will not tolerate you overexerting yourself. She'll help you do anything that requires you to move the part of your body that you hurt.
Willow: Tries her best to be calm. She disinfects and badges you up. Then nearly kills you with a bear hug. She is slightly more protective of you for the next week or two (I.E. any time you fall a bunch of vines sprout up stopping you from falling.)
Hunter: More shaken up than you. He has a lot of knowledge on how to bandage wounds after being in the Emperor's coven. He shakily disinfects the wound and puts wrap-around bandages on it. He keeps asking if you're okay over and over. He is overprotective of you afterward. Overall pretty okay.
Vee: Has no clue what to do. While she was in captivity she rarely got majorly hurt. She quickly fetches Luz and Camila and asks them for advice. Camila is way more helpful than Luz. (also get ready for at least one hour of cuddles.)
Raine: They are so very worried about you :(. Since they led multiple rebel groups they have informed themselves on how to properly patch up a wound. Gives you painkillers when they can. Also helps you rest with a bard spell.
Eda: "Pretends to be all cold-hearted but actually cares a lot!" She has bought potions to help heal people so she gives you one of them. After you fully healed she cuddles with you in her nest. She's in harpy mode and has her wings wrapped around you.
Emira: She can heal you herself. So she isn't really worried at all. She gives you a lot of kisses though. 10/10 would recommend as a caretaker.
Edric: He panics. Hard. He gives you healing potions like Eda. You do heal pretty quickly (especially compared to how much he panicked.) He does baby you even a week after you fully heal-
The Collector: They can just heal you with a snap of their fingers lmao.
Lilith: She is actually pretty calm. In the same vein as Raine and Hunter, she used to basically be second in command of the Emperor's coven. So she calmly patches you up. While lecturing you to be more careful.
Gus: Very sad to see you hurt. He swiftly gets one of his friends. Most likely Willow. Gives you so many hugs.

Willow and Gus are underrated, so here is why they are amazing. Starting with Willow:
1. Willow is gentle and willing to be vulnerable to make connections with others. But she is also protective of her heart. She only is willing to open her heart when she sees good and potential in others. Just like how she was willing to reconnect with Amity and how she saw Hunter, a sad boi, and decided he was important.
Tumblr media
"I can't say we're friends but... it's a start" / "At one point or another we've all been misjudged. Still think we're pathetic?"
2. Willow is very protective of her friends. She always wants to keep them safe and is willing to fight to do so. She wants to be the rock for her friends. And while this causes her to be closed off emotionally sometimes, she always is there for her friends emotions.
Tumblr media
3. Willow is powerful and passionate. She is amazing at plant magic but she also simply loves the plants. She treats them like babies and tries to keep them safe from the boiling rain. She is also the only one that can control her more vicious plants - seen by Viney telling Willow that her plant has been out of control since she's been gone in S3 Ep two.
Tumblr media
4. Willow encourages others to be themselves! She is the first to accept Luz as herself without belittling her for her interests. She is the first to not attempt to use Gus as a tool for her classes. She sees Hunter's enjoyment in Cosmic Frontier and praises his cosplay. While others see her friends quirks as problems, she never even suggests that they are an issue.
Tumblr media
5. Regarding her development, Willow makes excellent progress in living for herself. She starts out as unconfrontational and passive and grows into a confident and strong young woman. Willow begins her own flyer derby team, fighting against an asshole teacher to do so. She begins to take pride in her magic and work. She realizes that she has worth as a person and just because she struggles in some areas that doesn't make her less than others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of Willow's accomplishments: - She successfully overpowered Amity and Principal Bump with plant magic at a point where she had not been taught much of the track. - Helping Luz break into a highly guarded castle along with Gus. - Winning a game of flyer derby when Professor Hermonculus used magic to make her fail. - Started a protest to stop Belos (the tyrant that has been silencing people for decades) of at least one hundred people, likely more, from petrifying Eda. - Helps Amity and Gus break into the Blight Warehouse. - Fought against Adrian Graye Vernworth (the leader of the illusion coven) and helped group/hide many members of Hexside. - Alongside Amity, defeated an abomatron that were designed for destroying others (this particular one defeated many other students before reaching them). - Fought alongside the gang to kill Belos.

Thinking of how Willow and Belos are the only characters to have their mindscapes explored; And as they are, we learn the circumstances behind how they were abandoned by their only childhood friend for somebody else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when they confront that person, they learn their side of the story (as Caleb was speculated to have told Philip), and are primed to kill their friend amidst fire… And you know what?
Tumblr media
Willow doesn’t do it. She speaks her justified frustrations and pain, while also accepting reconciliation and getting that; And is still allowed to voice her issues even after the fact, as part of the healing process!
I’m also thinking of how people were mourning Philip’s childhood abandonment even before we learned he and Caleb were orphans; Many fans were under the impression Philip at least had well-meaning parents to go back to, even if they encouraged him to conform to society’s standards. Kind of like…
Tumblr media
Ah! Harvey and Gilbert encouraged Willow to conform to society’s standards of success, despite how miserable it made her, when clearly her calling was elsewhere. The standards of a coven that Philip himself imposed… And as it’s later implied, Harvey and Gilbert may have been motivated by their trauma of Terra Snapdragon and wanting to protect Willow from her! Just as people believed Philip and Caleb’s parents, and later just Caleb, taught Philip to conform for his own safety!
Tumblr media
Philip still chose to manipulate the people of the isles, taking advantage of any kindness he received. Willow, she insisted on being as kind and nurturing a person as possible, to Gus, to Luz, to as many as she could! How about that.
Luz and Willow really are major parallels to Belos; Luz ultimately moreso, because Philip has that even more fundamental hero complex that I think would’ve compelled his crusades even without the loss of Caleb to embitter him, as the Titan observes. But man… The way Willow has some gold motifs, green markings and magic, when she meets Hunter? Fighting with powerful tendrils, having moments where anger causes her magic to flare up and lash out?
And ultimately, proves to be a kind leader who builds up those she leads, and cares about actually protecting people against threats with the ‘sting of defeat’, even at her own expense? And is told she doesn’t have to sacrifice herself by those same people, who reciprocate Willow’s selflessness? Man. Philip “I’ll do anything to protect humanity” Wittebane WISHES.
