she tilts her head, her eyes roaming the paddocks as she tries to look for the one person that she’s been looking for for the better part of ten minutes. next to her is max, talking about his complaints for the sprint happening tonight, if that’s still what he’s talking about.

“hey, are you even listening to me?” max sighs, lifting his arms up to try and catch her attention.

“yeah, sprints are stupid and a waste of time,” she nods with a small smile, glancing at him briefly before craning her neck again to resume her mission. “you say the same thing every sprint weekend, max.”

max rolls his eyes. “i know, but you should feel the same. it’s not like your team is doing a great job at keeping up with the sprint weekends.”

“that’s seb’s thing to worry about,” she shrugs. she spares the paddocks one last look. “have you seen logan anywhere?”

“not yet, why?” max presses his lips together. he raises an eyebrow at the younger girl.

“i just haven’t seen him at all today,” she says casually, trying to bite back on her rant about missing her boyfriend. max doesn’t know yet, after all. and if he were to find out, she would have no idea what to do. “just curious.”

max hums, tearing his eyes away from her with hesitation. “sure. if i didn’t know better, i would have thought you were jealous.”

“jealous for what?” she scoffs, now her turn to raise her eyebrows in confusion. “what even is that word?”

“cause, you know,” max says, gesturing with her hands hoping that she would magically come to her senses.

“know what?”

"you know," max shrugs again softly. "cause they've got tate mcrae in the williams' garage today."

"do they?" she tilts her head, starting to play with her manicured nails. "i wasn't aware."

"it was all alex and lily could talk about during dinner last night," max shakes his head, feigning annoyance, "i don't see what's so special. it's not like it's kylie jenner."

"dude. it's tate mcrae," she sighs. "she's like, so pretty. and her songs are so good. you should ask lando about her."

"or we could just ask logan!" max beams, pointing ahead of them. "look, they're together! oh, they look kinda cute together, don't they?"

she follows the direction that max is pointing towards. in fact, her boyfriend is walking with the tate mcrae in the paddocks, strangely close to one another as they try to avoid bumping into others.

she presses her lips together, feeling a weird bubbling in her gut that she can't seem to ignore. "take me back to my garage." she turns on her heel and starts walking back towards where they came from. "i'm not hungry anymore."

max throws his head back, but follows her anyway. "what? i was so looking forward to the cup of coffee you were going to get me!"

“babe, what are you wearing?” logan tilts his head, arms stretched out as he approaches the younger girl. “i thought you said you were wearing that one dress you’ve been wanting to try on?”

she shakes her head, pressing her lips together. she waves off his statement. “i didn’t feel like wearing it.”

“aw, but we were supposed to match for dinner with oscar and lily,” logan frowns, wrapping his arms around her as a greeting.

she looks up at him with sad eyes and slumped shoulders. instead of responding, she just sighs and shakes her head as she leads him down the hallway of their hotel for the weekend.

"is something wrong?" logan frowns, chasing after her towards the elevator. "did something happen before the sprint?"

"no, it's nothing," she sighs, fixing the oversized tee that she decided to put on today. fair enough to logan's argument, they had agreed the night before that they would match their d&g outfits for dinner tonight.

but all of those plans were thrown out the window when she saw logan and tate walking down the paddocks earlier today. while she's typically secure with herself and their relationship, max was not wrong when he said that they looked kinda good next to one another.

the image of her boyfriend with the prettiest girl she's ever seen has haunted her since she got into the car for the sprint qualifiers. it's one of the only reasons she had finished in p4 earlier because she had this anger in her chest that she couldn't ignore.

she punches the button carved into the wall, making logan lift his arms to scratch his head. she looks up at the display, frowning when the elevator is still only on the third floor on its way up to them. she reaches out to punch the button again, but not before logan can catch her wrist in his hand.

"why are you punching a literal inanimate object?" logan questions, tilting his head to meet her eyes. "did something happen?"

her eyes snap to look into his. "no."

"you're saying that, but i totally don't believe you," logan frowns, shaking his head. "what's wrong, baby?"

"nothing."

"then i don't wanna go for dinner," logan mutters, turning on his heel to walk away from her. "you can explain to oscar and lily why i'm not there."

"what? logan," she turns around, throwing her arms in the air. "where are you going?"

"to your hotel room. you're not being very nice."

"i'm so nice!"

"you just punched the elevator button!"

she balls her fists and clenches her jaw. "fine, i'll tell you." she chews on the inside of her cheek as logan stops halfway down the hallway from her and turns to her. "but you have to promise you won't laugh."

"why would i laugh at you?" logan sighs. "tell me what's bothering you, please?"

"i was kinda jealous," she mutters, incomprehensible as she looks up to count the number of lights that illuminate her hotel hallway. "you had tate in your garage and then max said you guys kinda look cute together and he was kinda right now that i think about it. she is very pretty and hot and girly girl and i could literally beat you in an arm wrestling fight."

"whoa, slow down." logan holds his arms up as he approaches her with caution. "i didn't get any of that. you were mumbling under your breath the entire time."

she sighs and drops her head. "i said i was jealous."

"of what?"

"max said you looked cute with tate mcrae," she sighs, throwing her arms in the air. her cheeks heat up as she turns around to catch the elevator now nearing their lift lobby. "he was kinda right, she's very hot. i'm not."

"tate mcrae?" logan repeats, jogging a circle around her to block her from the elevator. "you were jealous of tate because of what max said? but i love you."

she sighs shakily. "okay, but she's very feminine and talented. what can i do? i can only drive a stupid car - anyone can do that."

"i can't even drive a stupid car," logan states, staring at her blankly. "and what do you mean? you always beat me at padel when we play."

"that's cause i cry when you don't let me win!" she rants, throwing her arms in the air. she throws her head back and turns towards the hallway. "now i don't even feel like going to dinner."

"you know i only say that because i can't admit that my girlfriend is also better than me at padel, right? you beat me in an f1 car and padel. my ego can't take that," logan states, chasing after her. he grabs her wrist to yank her into his chest. "and you're feminine. what are you talking about?"

"like i could literally beat you at padel in my sleep and wrestle you into submission!" she whines, making an attempt to walk away from him again. "i'm not your type, logan! i've got broad shoulders and as much muscles as the next driver on the track. you used to kiss the floor that supermodels used to walk on!"

"yeah, when i was 18," logan laughs, jogging to overtake her. he grabs her shoulders and shakes her gently. "i'm 22. i'm so in love with you. i like it when you wrestle me into submission - it's hot."

"can you please be serious?"

"i am!" he rests his hands on his hips. "tell you what - let's skip dinner. let's go back into your room, order some wine and play some mario kart. then maybe i'll show you how much i love you."

she scowls. "you want to ditch oscar and lily? do you have any idea how much he'll tear into you if we do that?"

"fine, so we make dinner quick and then we come back so i can do all that i just said," logan shrugs. he takes her hand and squeezes it. "i love you. you know that, right?"

she pouts, slumping her shoulders again. "i know. i love you too. but you know what i mean, right? please tell me you get it, lo."

"i do," he sighs, cupping her cheeks. she tiptoes when he pulls her up slightly, pressing a loving kiss on her lips. "but i'm in love with you. my type is you."

Monday, 20th November 2023 You had just walked through hell and it had been an absolute nightmare. By hell, you meant Walmart during the week of Thanksgiving. With another point scored on home soil Logan’s popularity seemed to explode overnight and the shopping trip had taken longer than expected after he signed some autographs and took photos with fans. Shopping wasn’t something you enjoyed on the quietest of days but knowing the amount of food prep you needed to do only left you more stressed.

“Relax, honey,” Logan soothed as he rubbed your shoulders with a smile. “We can do this. Just tell me what you need me to do.”

You eventually made it to the checkout with two laden trolleys and Logan did all the heavy lifting of the bags into the back of his Range Rover. Unfortunately you lost more precious prep time to the traffic that swarmed the city and the stress had you wringing your hands together until Logan took one in his.

“Sweetheart, I think you might be going a little overboard.”

You looked up from the pastry you were rolling out to weave into a lattice topping for the pumpkin pie. “What? No. No, I’m not. This is perfectly acceptable.”

“There’s twice as much as last year,” Logan stated, his lips a shade of deep purple from the berries he had stolen.

“We have more guests this year - special guests too.”

Logan’s lips perked up as he laughed. “I’ll let Dalton know you think he’s not special.”

“That is not what I meant,” you gasped, only forgiving him for the joke when kissed you sweetly. “I’ve never seen your principal outside of the races, or Alex and Lily. I’m nervous.”

“You have nothing to be nervous about. They are exactly the same outside of work.”

You chewed your lip as you nodded, hoping he wasn’t just trying to ease your worry. If he was right then you knew you would get along with them just like you had when you went to the races with Logan. You had been lucky enough to make it to most of his races after the summer break and Sooty even joined for the Triple Header rounds, but he missed out on the Vegas trip. The schedule was just too busy to have a dog in tow.

Since everyone was on the same continent, for the moment, you had invited Logan’s team mate and his team principal to join you for an early Thanksgiving. James was bringing his wife and daughter while Alex was coming with his girlfriend Lily. They had all been so supportive of Logan throughout the year that you wanted to show your appreciation before making your way to the final race in Abu Dhabi.

It was going to be the first year since being with Logan that you wouldn’t be at home on Thanksgiving but that didn’t mean you weren’t going to slack on hosting the event. If anything you were going to make it more special to make up for having it on a Tuesday. 

Logan knew one thing that would help you relax while you were busy in the kitchen and after disappearing into the living room you heard the stereo system click on and Logan’s playlist filled the room. The upbeat intro to Hold On, We’re Going Home started and Logan reached you before Drake’s voice could, his hands finding your hips as he rested his chin on your shoulder and watched you work the dough. 

All too soon he grew bored of just watching and his lips started to tease kisses along your neck. “You need to go for a run,” you murmured as you found your progress slowing. “I can’t concentrate with you doing that.”

“Doing what?” he asked innocently, the curve of his lips on your skin giving him away. 

“Distracting me.”

“But it worked, look how relaxed you are now.” His arms curled around your waist as he swayed to the music and you joined him until his hand dipped beneath your shirt and warmed the soft skin on your stomach. 

“Lo…” you groaned as you pushed him back with your hips. “Behave, please.” 

“Cause you’re a good girl and you know it,” he teased in your ear with the song. “You act so different around me.”

You turned in his arms with a smile that he reflected and placed your palm over his chest. “You are going to ruin Thanksgiving dinner.”

Logan looked around the kitchen, every surface full of the food you just had to make final touches on in the morning. There was already more than enough to feed an army. “I don’t think you have to worry about dinner.” He reached behind you and placed a spare cover over the unfinished pie before pulling you flush against him. “And the pie can wait an hour.”

“An hour? I was thinking 10 minutes max,” you giggled as he grabbed your hips and picked you up, your legs wrapping around his waist naturally.

“Is that a challenge?” he dared as he carried you out of the kitchen. “I don’t mind spending the rest of the day proving you wrong, sweetheart.”

“Yes, wait, no, any other time, baby, but not today.”

Tuesday, 21st November 2023 - Thanksgiving Dinner You had never been happier that Logan had insisted on buying a house much larger than anything the two of you needed. Built for a large family, the kitchen had two full sized ovens and both were currently in use. The giant turkey filled one oven on its own and the other had its racks full of different dishes to keep them hot. 

The other great thing about the home was that the stacker doors folded back in the living room to give a massive open space that flowed out into the patio and pool. You needed all that space with the guests that had arrived. Logan’s parents had come first. Mallika had insisted on arriving early so she could help you with the fresh food that couldn’t be pre-cooked and Michael had been ordered to help Logan stock the bar.

Next to arrive had been Dalton, Logan’s older brother, who came with a very happy Sooty after dog-sitting him while you were in Las Vegas. You had rushed out of the kitchen as soon as you heard his excited bark and grappled him into a tight cuddle before Logan wrapped his arms around you both. 

“Hi, my baby,” you cooed as you scratched Sooty’s fur and kissed the top of his head. “Mommy missed you. You’re looking skinny, did uncle Dalt not feed you?” You rose to your feet at the laugh and greeted Dalton with a kiss to his cheek. “Thank you for taking care of him.”

“I would say anytime but he stole an Angus steak from my plate, twice.”

“Why do you think I came out here?” you said with a shake of your head. “There is no way I am letting him anywhere near the kitchen. Lo?”

“On it, honey,” he chuckled. “Come on, Soot, let's go play frisbee. You in, bro?”

You watched the brothers jog out to the lawn and separate to opposite ends and it wasn’t long before Michael joined his sons too.

It was another two Sargeant boys that came through the door with Logan’s aunt following with apologies for her son's lack of manners for skipping the doorbell. You waved the apology away as you gave her a hug. “It’s fine, Debbie. My mother always said doorbells are for salesmen and strangers, not family.”

“Your mother is a good woman,” Harry said as he came in with a large bouquet of flowers for you and a kiss. “You are more and more like her every day.”

You grinned at the compliment and inhaled the sweet scent of the flowers. “Thank you.”

When you first met Harry you had felt intimidated by the billionaire but you had quickly realised he was a kind, down-to-earth man who put family values first. It was one of the reasons he sponsored Logan and helped get him into Formula racing. He believed if he had the resources to help, then he had the responsibility to help. It was the same with Dalton’s NASCAR career.

The next arrival did use the doorbell and Sooty came inside to growl at the uncommon sound until you told him to stop being silly. Once the door was opened he recognised it was Alex and Lily on the doorstep and the protective nature changed to the playful wag of his tail. Sooty enjoyed the attention he got from the animal-loving couple for a moment before another duo stole his attention and he leapt off the porch to race down the driveway. 

“Sorry, he saw my parents,” you said as you invited them inside and to the bar. “Now, Logan’s the mixologist in the house so if you want something more than a beer, a wine or whiskey neat then he’s your man.”

Once Lily had a glass of riesling and Alex an IPA beer, you made the introductions to the few members of his family they hadn’t met. Most of them had crossed paths at least once during the three US based Grand Prix’s this season so it was only Harry’s teenage boys and your parents who needed naming. 

“I found some wanderers in your driveway,” your mother joked as she stepped into your line of vision and waved at the quickly growing Vowles family. “Oscar looks different, more mature.”

You looked at Logan’s old teammate who was just walking through the door and chuckled when he took his shoes off, the only one that ever did when he went inside other people's homes. “That’s what a year will do to a man,” you replied. “I don’t think you’ve seen him since last Thanksgiving, mom.”

“Not true, I saw him at Logan’s birthday.”

“Oh, okay, my bad, it's only been 11 months then,” you said with a laugh as you went to greet him and Logan’s team principal. 

“She is absolutely adorable,” you gushed over the newborn in James’ arms. “I swear she’s grown and I only saw her a few days ago!”

“She’s put on another ounce since then,” the proud father said before holding her out to you. “Go on, I know this is what you’re really after.”

“I was just coming over to see if you needed a drink,” you lied as you reached for her, “but I’m not going to turn down baby snuggles.”

Logan’s eyes found you from across the room where he was talking with Alex and Oscar and he lost track of the conversation at the sight of you. The image of you holding a baby so comfortably made something crack in his chest and he knew you would be a natural when it came to motherhood, he just had to be patient for a few more years. You didn’t even notice his lingering stare as you pressed your nose to her soft hair and inhaled the new baby scent before cradling her closer. 

“You know you are not getting her back until you leave,” you warned James, and he just smiled knowingly.

“I had a feeling that would be the case. Now Rachel and I can enjoy a few hours of free babysitting.”

“Absolutely anytime, any place. Go on, have a drink and chill out, or even a nap if you need. There’s plenty of guest rooms down the hall and a nursery too so you have nothing to worry about.”

“A nursery? Is there something Logan hasn’t told me?” he asked curiously.

You laughed as you shook your head. “Not yet, James. The house was furnished for a family sale when we bought it and one of the rooms was set up to be a nursery. We just never renovated it.”

“You two look really happy,” Alex broke through Logan’s wandering thoughts and he blinked twice before he snapped out of the moment.

“We are. She loves this, having a full house, lots of noise and company.” Logan smiled into his bottle as he tipped the cold beer back and watched as you flitted around the room topping up drinks and chatting with his family all the while managing to cradle his boss's baby safely. “Best thing I did was ask her to come with me. Makes the good days better and the bad ones easier, you know?”

Alex nodded sincerely and cast his eyes to Lily who was laughing at something Dalton said to her about his latest round of golf. Alex knew exactly what Logan meant. 

Logan had always been open about wanting children, even more so when he was drunk, and he was always making plans for the future. He hoped to stay in F1 for as long as possible and he was especially happy that he had signed with Williams for another year, but after that he thought about moving into endurance racing as it was a less intensive schedule. With less commitments to work he would have more time to focus on starting a family, so you waited patiently and supported him in his choices after all the hard work you had seen him put in.

You continued on your way around the guests, oblivious to the way Logan’s eyes followed you the entire time. Eventually you  reluctantly passed the sleeping babe over to your boyfriend knowing he would want to have some time with her too and the next part you needed two hands for. “Dinner is almost ready, if you want to start rounding everyone up into the dining room I’ll bring in the turkey.”

“I can come and help, sweetheart,” he offered but his face softened at the cutie in his arms. Your chest warmed at the sight and you shook your head, not wanting to disturb the moment.

“Between my mom and yours, there’s hardly anything left to do.” You left him with Alex and Oscar, passing by Lily and Dalton’s discussion about the best US golf courses, and found Sooty so he could be put in his kennel. You weren’t keen on having a repeat of his first Christmas when he broke the table leg trying to get scraps and the whole thing had crashed down. It had been a disaster that took a while before you could see the funny side but it still didn’t mean you could handle it happening again. “Come on, as soon as dinner is over you can have your freedom back.”

Sooty whined as you left him behind and you didn’t dare look back or you wouldn’t have the heart to leave him there. The sound followed you until you were inside and the noise of the guests swallowed his lonely cries so you could focus on the meal shared between friends and family.

Logan knelt beside the kennel and caught Sooty’s collar as he unhooked the chain and praised him for being a good boy. Dinner had been another one to remember for a long time to come and everyone was more than full as they settled around the extra large sofa inside. Traditionally, after dinner everyone would be feeling the liquor and reminisce on what they were thankful for before watching the Miami Dolphins game on the tv but since it was only a Tuesday there weren't any big teams playing. 

Logan had a better way to end the perfect afternoon anyway.

“Sooty, where’s mommy?” Logan asked as he buckled his collar back in place and kissed the top of his head. “Go find mommy, go on, good boy.” 

The quick moving ball of fur caught your attention and you just saved your glass of wine from being knocked off the coffee table before Sooty bounded over Lily’s shoes and landed at your feet. He barked twice and sat back on his heels, waiting as if he had been ordered to obey and was expecting a treat - except you hadn’t called him.

“Sooty, how did you escape your…” your words trailed off as you held his collar and watched the light catch on a diamond ring. The room fell silent as you looked up in time to see Logan lower himself onto one knee in front of you.

His deft fingers unbuckled the collar and slipped the ring off so he could hold it delicately in his hand. “I don’t need Thanksgiving to reflect on everything I’m grateful for this year,” he said softly and your heart beat so loudly you were certain everyone in the quiet room could hear it. “Since I found you, I’m thankful every damn day, and I would love to spend the rest of my life showing you just how much, if you’ll let me. Will you marry me?”

You couldn’t remember when you last took a breath and your throat seemed to clog with emotion, choking the word you wanted to scream. Logan’s lips began to curve up into a proud smile when you nodded your head and lifted your trembling hand for him. 

“Yes,” you finally managed to whisper, before the cold band slipped onto your ring finger and your vision blurred with unshed tears of joy. 

You didn’t hear the cheer that erupted, you didn’t hear their congratulations. All you heard was Logan whispering he loved you against your lips before he claimed them for the first time as your fiance.

Logan hadn’t let go of your hand since he put the engagement ring on it but eventually he couldn’t keep you all to himself and draped an arm across the back of your seat instead.

“This is gorgeous!” Lily gasped after she leaned forward to inspect the large rock on the ring. You didn’t miss the pointed look she sent Alex and wondered how long it would be until he took the same step. “So how did you two meet if Logan was in Europe racing?”

Logan grinned as he traced his fingertips across your shoulder and over your collar. “Her mom was my uncle’s secretary and when I was home for the break I dropped by his office to visit him, and then I kept dropping in because I knew she was always in the staffroom doing her homework. Not that she ever looked my way.”

“I looked, when you weren’t,” you admitted as your cheeks heated. “But I had to keep my head down so I could actually concentrate on my assignments. He was very distracting to look at, still is.”

Oscar smiled to himself since he already knew the story well over the years of friendship and double dates.

Alex chuckled and mirrored your cosy state with Lily opposite you. “So did he finally ask you out or did you have to take charge?”

“Actually Harry set us up,” you said with a smile in the oil magnate’s direction where he was talking to his wife. “I didn’t have a licence and when my mom got sick Harry had Lo take me to visit her. He went out of his way to pick me up after school every day for like two months. I honestly don’t know how I would have gotten through that time without him.”

You turned your smile to Logan as he reached for his beer and took a long drink. If you were alone he would have whispered sweet affirmations in your ear about how strong you were and how he would always be there for you but with the present company and his ears turning pink he swallowed his words. But you still saw them in his proud smile and in his blue eyes.

“Okay, maybe I went a teensy, tiny, little bit overboard,” you admitted as you saw the leftovers filling the kitchen island after everyone had gone - the house was quiet once more.

You knew there was the temptation for Logan to say ‘I told you so’ but he just kissed your temple with a smile before he checked his watch and said. “I’ll get the containers.”

Although it was too late to go to Miami-Dade shelters tonight, it had become a tradition to take the leftovers around to them after a holiday. It would only go to waste with the two of you, especially since you were heading to Abu Dhabi in the morning.

“Have I told you how much I love you?” you asked when he returned from the garage with his arms full of takeaway containers.

“Once or twice,” he teased as he abandoned the containers to pull you into his arms, “but I’ll never get tired of hearing it.”

“Good thing we’ve got the rest of our lives then.” You placed your hands on his shoulders and looked at the ring on your finger with fondness before staring into his ocean eyes. “I love you, Lo.”

“I love you too, sweetheart. Always have, always will.”

Summary: Blind items is back with a new victim, Alex Albon and his American Mclaren race engineer of a girlfriend. With the news comes a very interesting Team Torque episode.

Logan laughed when he saw the tweet. He had been making fun of Alex for his newfound patriotism. Since Alex had started having feelings for this girl, he had been asking Logan for help trying to ‘woo’ her, as if Logan hasn’t actually lived in the US since he was twelve. But his teammate helped him, happy that Alex was not teasing him about America anymore. 

Team Torque:

“Hello everyone, this is Team Torque with Alex and Logan. We are here with our very own special guest! She is a race engineer for McLaren”

“And you girlfriend.” Logan quickly adds.

“And my girlfriend. Thanks for the help Logan.” Alex says, sarcastically. “As usual, this podcast is a mess and will probably not be getting better so apologies for that.”

“We aren’t the best hosts.” Logan adds.

“No we are not. Moving on, would you like to introduce yourself?” Alex asks.

“Yes! Thank you boys. As they said, I am a race engineer for Mclaren.”

“And my girlfriend.” Alex interrupts, copying Logan's previous remark.

“And Alex’s girlfriend.”

“And a fellow American.” Logan adds. 

“Would you boys like to introduce me instead? You seem to be so enthusiastic about it.” She jokes.

Alex had been begging for a while to have her on Team Torque. The team had said if they wanted a race engineer they should have one of their own but both him and Logan were insistent that she join them. After the rumors came out, Williams decided it was best if they brought her to gain control of the narrative again. It helped that she was already well loved by the Williams crew. While she would never help them, as that would be traitorous to her beloved team, she had made friends with a few of the other engineers and had jokingly been offered a job by James Vowles a few times. 

“Sorry honey, we are just excited.” Alex said.

“Yeah! Team America back together.” Logan enthusiastically added. The two had become close since they met, giving Alex a taste of his own medicine by making fun of his ‘Britishness’. He wasn’t too happy at their joint effort to make fun of him but he supposed that it was a good thing they got along so well. 

“Anyway, go on, say a bit about yourself.”

“Okay, as mentioned I am from the US. I was born and raised in New York.”

“Yuck” Logan teased.

“Don’t even start Florida man. I worked for Arrow McLaren’s IndyCar team in the same position, shoutout to my IndyCar family, I love you all lots. Then eventually Zak Brown asked me to come to F1 and I happily joined. Through working for them I met Lando who introduced me to Alex and a few years later we now both live in Monaco together.”

“How was the switch to F1 from IndyCar?” Logan asked.

“Rough at first. IndyCar has a much different sort of atmosphere than Formula 1 as well as fanbase. Plus moving out of the US for the first time was difficult. But it has also been such an amazing opportunity that I can’t complain too much. I am so happy where I am now.” Alex hadn’t known her when she had first gotten to Formula 1 but he had heard stories about how difficult it was. She had shared a lot with him but he also knew it was hard as he hadn't had to do the same. His experiences being a Thai and British driver had helped him understand some, but women were still such a rarity in F1, even if they preached gender equality in the sport, they didn't actually do as much as they could to make it a safe space for women to work. He also realized why she and Logan got along so well. Even if they hadn’t grown up close to each other, their shared identity of being an American in a primarily European sport had brought them together. 

The interviewing portion stopped after there, as Alex and Logan were terrible interviewers, but the conversations were still entertaining and it had become viral once it was uploaded. Viewers were excited to see Alex and his girlfriend, as well as Team USA.

She couldn't help but smile as she thought about the news she was about to share with her beloved husband, Logan Sargeant, an accomplished F1 driver. The couple had been together for years, having met as teenagers when Logan had made the bold decision to move from the United States to Europe to pursue his racing dreams. Y/N, being an Italian living in the UK, had been there for him every step of the way.

Liam's eyes lit up, and he enveloped both of them in a tight hug. "That's amazing, you two! You'll be incredible parents, I just know it."

The joyous announcement rippled through the gathering, spreading smiles, laughter, and an overwhelming sense of unity. The F1 community, with all its competitiveness on the racetrack, reveled in the shared happiness of this new beginning.

Charles leaned in closer, his voice filled with sincerity. "You two deserve all the happiness in the world. The news had been spread so be prepared. They're all excited for you."

The news spread, as Charles said, other drivers approached them, one after another, expressing their heartfelt congratulations. Max Verstappen, Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, and Yuki Tsunoda, among others, gathered around, enveloping Y/N and Logan in a sea of warm wishes.

Max, always the jokester, playfully punched Yn’s arm. "Miss Sarge, you're going to be outnumbered by racers in your own home now. Congrats, you both."

Pierre chimed in with a grin, "We're going to have a future champion on our hands. Best wishes to both of you."

Carlos joined the conversation, wrapping an arm around Y/N. "Logan, Y/N, congratulations! Parenthood is a rollercoaster ride, but it's the most rewarding one. Enjoy every moment."

Lando, his smile infectious, added, "Logan, mate, you're going to be an amazing dad. And hey, if you ever need a babysitter, you know who to call."

Yuki beamed, his enthusiasm contagious. "Congratulations, Logan and Y/N! I can't wait to meet the little one. They'll grow up surrounded by legends!"

As the drivers continued to congratulate Logan and Yn, their joy united them, forming a bond that went beyond the racetrack. In that moment, they were not just fierce competitors but a supportive family ready to embrace the next generation.

Yo! I'm curious. You got any headcanons about Alex so far? If you feel like sharing that is.

putting on bumble bee by toy box as i write these [LONG POST UNDER THE READ MORE ALSO THERES SPOILERS]

starting off, i don't think the divorce was his fault, or at least not fully. from what Casey says, i'm thinking he's been in the FBI for a long time even before he married his ex, and it was a situation of she should've known what she was getting into falling for a guy who has a job that could nearly kill him almost every day. he also says that apparently the jobs where he could've been killed were her favorites. Casey doesn't really bad mouth her either, he kinda just refers to it like it was a bad day or just something that bothered him. i don't think he treated his ex badly at all. if anything i think it shows how much of it was his ex's fault considering that if he really was the bad guy in this, Saga wouldn't have invited him to family dinners

speaking of that; Casey considers the Anderson's his family as much as Saga does with him. With Saga and Casey, they have something goes deeper than friendship but not something romantic. have you ever gotten that feeling of calling someone a "lover" because the word boyfriend or girlfriend just doesnt do the feelings justice? that's that with them. i think even outside of work they'll call each other partners, it's why Casey says "Partners till the end".

Casey of course also feels close to David and Logan, and those relationships are lot more explainable. i think him and David have a friendship that's almost brotherly. they surprisingly would have a lot of things in common in a hidden layer between the two and David is always up for having 1-on-1 talks with him over some whiskey. with Logan he treats her like a niece. he'll entertain her when she's working on her little hobbies and helps her whenever she needs it but Saga and David aren't there. he's even babysat a couple of times on his days off when either Saga had to work on a case alone or her and David wanna go on a date.

the first time Saga invited Casey over for dinner, it was supposed to be a regular day at the office, and it was up until she asked him about it. he didn't really want to go since he was fully aware he was a pretty gloomy guy to be around, and he thought Saga was just trying to take pity on him and be the nice agent around the office. so when he got there and saw and felt the genuine feeling of being welcomed into a family home and the excited energy the Anderson's had for having a guest over from Saga's job that she said she considered a friend, he really didn't know how to act. on the outside, he slowly went from a quiet shy man to having a warm smile on his face no matter what they were eating or what they talked about. on the inside he felt starstruck the whole evening and night, feeling like he was dreaming. after he helped them in cleaning up and finished up the last of their conversations to get to know them better, he walked home with this feeling in his chest that he couldn't get rid of. it was similar to the feeling he got when he first came home as a married man when he was still with his ex, but this felt so much deeper and special, like it was really meant to be this way.

Casey always keeps his guard up on the job, that's a natural part of it, but after divorcing his ex, he kinda stopped caring about getting hurt, so he didn't mind much if his guard wasn't high enough on certain days when the person he was pursuing became violent. he's a pretty tough guy which is ironic to his build. but over the years of knowing Saga, he's subconsciously gotten more vigilant and stiff, now always having his gear in the same pockets no matter what case it is, and never stops scanning the surroundings before him. that first time when he got hurt on the job with Saga, as much as he reassured her that it was part of the job and that it wasn't her fault, he still remembers the distressed look on her face and the way her voice sounded when she was helping him nurse the wound. he realized quickly in that moment realized that not only could he not handle seeing Saga in pain worried about him, but also he can't keep letting himself get so close to death's door when he now has something to come home to.

he didn't use to have a caffeine addiction. before meeting Saga, on days off he would open some whiskey and drink it like it was water throughout the day, sometimes making the mistake of doing it on days where he had to be up for work the next morning. and sometimes he would straight up drink at work. not enough to get drunk on the job, but enough to get through it. but he did also like coffee, just not as much as he does now. during when Saga was trying to get closer to him, she quickly figured out what his favorite type was; pure black roast, no sugars, no milk. over the next few weeks, every other couple days, she would come into the Bureau with two cups of coffee and put one on Casey's desk, sometimes before he got to his office, sometimes just leaving it in front of his hands and then walking away with a smile. he was confused, of course he would be, but eventually got to a point where he smiled seeing the cup get to his desk. afterwards, there were days where Saga decided to visit Casey to check up on him, and she was always worried from the smell of alcohol that radiated in his home. it wasn't until she came to check in on him when he didn't show up for work and found him passed out on the floor that they had a pretty personal moment about it all. since then he's barely touched it except at office parties or having dinner at the Anderson's.

i'm pretty sure Saga's mother died after she joined the FBI, though i'm not sure if it was before or after getting to know Casey. if it was after, i think Casey would've talked to her at least once before her passing, and Freya would've adored him. Saga would've invited him to the funeral and insisted on him coming, seeing as she sees him as family. if it was before, i think Saga would told Casey about it during a more personal conversation and he would've been very sympathetic about it, wishing he'd met her before she passed. she would've invited him to come visit her grave, and introduced the two from beyond the grave in a bittersweet way. Casey would've been very respectful in both scenario and leave flowers and stay by the Anderson's side if they needed the extra support.

as for miscellaneous things;

i think he's the same age as Sam Lake, or at least close, so he's in his early 50s.

just like Sam he's terrible at games but Logan still insist on playing together, mainly cause she likes making him grumpy.

he doesn't have a favorite music genre but he would not like noise or trap or grind, basically any gen z dark alt internet genres, but he does enjoy rock, some lower forms of metal, a SMIDGE of industrial like the tiniest bit, and only like one or two pop/hit radio songs.

he'd never say it out loud cause he wouldnt know when to but he finds the bond between the Anderson's absolutely adorable, especially with how Saga still wears her mother's sweaters after she's gone.

he's definitely cried at least once in front of Saga, probably when talking about his ex, which i'm sure made Saga hate her even though she's never met her.

Casey will and has stood on the porch of a house watching the rain fall like a typical white dad.

Logan and Mariko welcome Ororo, Kurt, Peter, and Kitty to their apartment a few days before the wedding. Anna also comes, which makes for a tense situation with Logan, who wants to kill her for what she did to Carol, but he accepts her as a teammate and guest at Mariko’s request. Harada, the Silver Samurai, who last appeared in the New Mutants, is stalking them, but he’s being stalked by Yukio, who attacks him. The X-Men intervene, but both escape. Ororo flies after Yukio and saves her from a fall while she’s jumping around buildings. Yukio tells her her philosophy that life is only worth living if it’s dangerous, which intrigues Ororo. Meanwhile, Mariko goes off to secretly meet with Harada to bring an end to it, not wanting to involve anyone else in what she sees as her responsibility. Logan and Ororo share a quiet moment where they both reflect on how the other one has changed. Logan is more self conscious, worried that Shingen was right and he doesn’t deserve Mariko. Ororo tells him that Mariko loves and accepts him, and that’s all that matters. They’re about to start talking about Ororo’s struggles when Logan realizes a moment too late that Viper has poisoned their drinks and collapses. In Alaska, Alex confronts Scott, who’s combing Madelyne’s file exactly. Her plane crash happened at the exact moment Jean died, and he can’t give up on trying to find the meaning. Meanwhile, Mariko confronts Harada, joined by Nabatone Yokuse, the head of the Yakuza who’s there to mediate. We learn Harada is her half-brother and Shingen’s illegitimate son. But the reason she offers him nothing of their father’s empire is his lack of morality, which she has learned to value over blood. Harada attacks, and “Mariko” reveals herself to be Yukio in disguise. Viper followed the limo, so she assumes Mariko must still be in the car. She’s right, but Ororo is in there too, having been saved from the poison by Logan. She tries to join the fight, but her powers go haywire until Yukio knocks her into the water while Nabatone cackles evilly in the shadows. Ororo then sees something truly terrifying- a Phoenix firebird in the sky. Meanwhile, the rest of the X-Men are in the ICU from the poison. Logan’s healed, and he plans to go after Harada. He’s approached by Anna, who’s physiology resisted the poison. He doesn’t trust her, but she wants to prove herself and he needs backup, so the duo sets off.

Logan and Anna is a fun and underrated dynamic. People forget that she’s a lot younger than the rest of this team, still a teenager at the moment. It’s not a father-daughter dynamic, but there is a mentorship vibe. It makes sense- Anna was raised by killers to be a killer, and even though she’s redeeming herself, that’s not something she can erase. It’s good that she has a teammate to learn from who can relate to her violent tendencies. They go through seedy bars, beating people up until they find a lead on Nabatone, Mariko’s only lead on Harada. They get to his house and find he’s been dead for a week. Meanwhile, whoever’s impersonating Nabatone has put a hit on Yukio and Ororo, who’s powers are still on the fritz as they make their way across town, battling hitmen. Ororo begins enjoying Yukio’s reckless violence. Logan and Anna make it back to the hospital just in time to stop Viper and Harada from killing their team and Mariko. Anna jumps in the way of Viper’s gun to save Logan and Mariko. Because it’s special supervillain weaponry, it’s damaging even her, but she refuses to let Viper get to the team, even though she doesn’t think they’d do the same for her. She also feels obligated to Mariko, who was kind to her. Logan, wounded from a fight with Harada, stumbles back in the room just as Viper finishes Anna off and flees with the comatose Harada. Anna lies dying, but Logan touches Anna to give her his healing factor, even though she begs him not to so he can heal himself. A week later, everyone is fine, and it’s wedding day. Mariko giddily prepares until a mysterious man comes to wish her luck and she feels a strange sensation. Xavier, Lilandra, Alex, Lorna, Christopher, Scott, and Madelyne all arrive for the ceremony, and everyone is shocked to see Madelyne. Ororo is the last to return, back in control of her powers but now dressed in punk leather clothes with a mohawk. Kitty is shocked and runs off. At the ceremony, there’s a very funny moment when Kitty asks Madelyne to watch Lockheed for her and she turns to Scott, asking what he’s gotten her into. Logan is happier than he’s ever been, until Mariko meets him at the alter and tells him he’s not worthy, and she’s calling off the wedding. The mysterious guest smiles, and Logan silently cries as the issue ends.

This arc is both a natural extension of the miniseries and a great story without that context which is how I first read it. I’ll focus on Anna’s part first: she doesn’t have the biggest role, but it’s important for her. Until towards the end of the second issue, we’re still a little wary of her true motives and loyalties. But when she sacrifices herself for Mariko and Logan, even though she tells Viper the X-Men don’t care if she dies, we know that she truly wants to be a hero. When Logan gives her his powers, it’s her sign that she’s truly an X-Man now. Our real leads here are Logan and Ororo, who have both found themselves in relationships that challenge their identities. Although once Logan believed that he had to destroy a part of himself to be Mariko’s husband, he now knows that she has a darker side as well, wiling to kill her father and able to face crime lords head on. She brings out the best in him that’s already there- his sense of honor and morality. Yukio and Ororo were supposed to be lovers in this story. It got censored, but the subtext is there, and I’ll look at it as if there’s at least an attraction on both sides. Yukio helps Ororo embrace the side of herself that’s been emerging and scaring her, her wildness and killer instincts. The thing is, while this is a relationship that Ororo needs right now, it couldn’t have a future, because Yukio can’t love all of Ororo. She can love this side, the thief and the fighter, and that’s important because Ororo didn’t know anyone could love that part of her. But Ororo is also the other side of herself, the goddess and the hero. She was happy when that was the only part she knew about, and she can be happy now with only this part. But she can’t truly be complete until she learns how to embrace it all at once, and Yukio couldn’t be with that person. It’s an issue we see with most of Ororo’s relationships: they love one version of her, and even though all those versions are real, she’s still being put in a box. Logan has a similar issue, although with Mariko I do think he can be all of himself. It’s the biggest problem with the Logan/Jean ship in particular: that ship is built on Jean’s attraction to Logan’s rougher side, which means that the relationship can only ever bring out the worst in him. Although in a vacuum he and Mariko are good for each other, the fact that their wedding was postponed by her Japanese underworld problems and then destroyed by (spoilers) one of Logan’s supervillain enemies is a sign that they aren’t really meant to last. Honestly, I don’t think Logan or Ororo is really built for long-term relationships, and that’s okay, because not every character needs to be paired off. I’ve mentioned this before, and it’s definitely not something Jim Shooter would have allowed, but I hope that in the modern era someone will allow those two to be quasi-romantic friends with benefits. They’re better as friends than spouses, but they also have a unique connection in the fact that Logan is maybe the only person who could embrace every part of Ororo simultaneously, and vice versa.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season Twelve Rewatch:  “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”

The basics:  The team gets a message from Hetty.  Callen learns who is following him and finds Anna.  Kensi starts hormone treatments with some help from Deeks.

Eric: Absent. Nell:  Kensi’s kind of for now boss and always friend. Fatima:  Solving e-mail word puzzles with Nell. Roundtree:  Admires a man who can drink four cups of coffee and not use the restroom. Hetty:  Sending coded e-mails.

Who's down with OTP:   Kensi and Deeks are doing hormone treatments as a couple – she gets the treatment and he injects her with the treatment very much against his will.

Fashion review:  Callen has on a blue jacket over a grey tee-shirt..  Black jacket with a long-sleeve black tee for Sam (that has been his looks this season).  Kensi start starts episode in the pajamas.  She’s wearing a short sleeve blue tee-shirt and blue print bottoms.  Later, Kensi is in a long-sleeve darker blue tee-shirt.  Deeks is already dressed in the bathroom scene wearing a long-sleeve black henley.  Later, Deeks has on a dark blue-green field coat.  Nell is wearing a print dress with a tiny pattern and thin ribbons around her collar, cuffs and as a belt.  Fatima is in Ops all episode so she has a lighter colored turtleneck under a dark jacket or sweater but it is impossible to figure out what’s what.  Roundtree is in a black tee-shirt and a dark grey leather jacket.

Quote:  Sam:  “Deeks, there's a big difference between inheriting an auto dealership in Reseda and getting into Annapolis.” Deeks:  “Yeah, no, of course, and I'm sure Kam's interests are different than zoology. My point is that Kam and Darrel share one thing, and that is passion for something else, right?  Because push came to shove, and Darrel chose zoology. Last time I heard, he moved out to Sacramento and ran a reptile zoo outside of the city, and by all accounts he's very happy.” Sam:  “So it all worked out?” Deeks:  “Well, not exactly, because Darrel's parents never accepted it. And when he moved up there, they stopped talking to him. Listen, I know that you feel like you don't know who Kam is right now, but I guess what I'm pitching is this... this is the opportunity to get to know her, right? And, and the real her. I don't know how long that window's going to be open.” Sam:  “You know, Deeks, I never would've thought this when we first met, but someday you're going to make a great father.” Deeks:  “Thanks, man.”

Anything else:  The previouslys are Callen thanking Anna and Joelle in Cuba, the failed proposal trip by Callen, the end of Kam’s kidnapping, Callen telling Deeks in the DOJ’s interrogation room that he’s not sure who set him up and Callen telling Carlson to stop following him with her promising him she is not.

In the morning in LA, two Russian men are sitting in an SUV.  One is very excited to be in LA – he wants to do the home of the stars tour and maybe see a murder house.  The other is watching someone - Callen.  As the happy to be in LA Russian drones on about LA murders, Callen’s watcher says Callen has been there for quite some time.  Noticing the Halal Guys are up the block, the happy to be in LA Russian wants to grab a bite – Callen isn’t going anywhere.  Except he does.

Callen’s watcher walks down an alleyway only to be ambushed by Callen.  The Russian tries to run and is punched in the throat for his trouble.

The Russian with the sore throat, Maksim Myskin, is in interrogation.  He is a mechanical engineer for oil extraction company in Russia.  While most Russians vacation at the Black Sea, Myskin loves the beaches in California.  Callen thinks the beaches are great too but the beach visits don’t include tailing Callen.  Myskin said he and his friend were lost while they were sightseeing.  Callen asks what sights were Myskin seeing in the alleyway.  Myskin thought Callen was being mugged.  Wanting to be the hero, Myskin thought he was coming to the rescue.

In their very well appointed bathroom, Kensi is preparing a needle for a hormone shot.  They talk about Deeks’s last encounter with needles, Danno and the whole Hawaii-Five-0 crossover.  Kensi tells him not to worry about the needle, he’s not taking the shot, she is.  That’s worse for Deeks – doing something he loathes to her.  Dr. Renner thinks doing this as a team makes things easier.  He hates how big the needle is so of course Kensi talks about an epidural needle.  In a true reversal of their usual interactions, he begs her to stop talking.  

Deeks does not want to hurt Kensi and needles hurt.  She tells Deeks he can’t think of the needle as causing her pain, think of it as helping them possibly have a child.  Deeks is willing to embrace whatever is out of their control but sticking her with a needle is in his control.  He’s worried he’s going to mess things up because “I get fainty around needles.”  Deeks eventually gives her the shot that “barely hurt”.  He calls her a liar because the whole thing was horrible.  Kensi is glad it was Deeks giving her the shot – she’s always glad it is Deeks.  Ops calls.

On the boat, Sam finds Kam topside on the boat.  She thought things were getting a little cramped below deck.  Sam pulled Kam out of school by asking for some favors.  She’s doing online classes .  With this being her final semester, Kam would like to go back to school to be with her friends and not bunking with her Dad on his boat.  Sam reminds her he’s a good roommate.  After mentioning Sam sings in the shower and snores, Kam doesn’t want to be protected forever.  Sam would like things to quiet down a little.  Kam won’t leave Students for Humanity and the problems of the world haven’t been solved.  He can’t keep her on the boat forever.

Sam thinks Kam’s work with Students for Humanity is amazing and saying he’s incredibly proud is an understatement.  Sam is worried about her standing at Annapolis, even if her cause is “good trouble.”  Kam admits to exploring other options.  Sam thinks now is not the time to make a rash decision.  This isn’t a rash decision – Kam was thinking about it since last summer.  Noting that the new brigade commander at Annapolis (Sydney Barber was the first Black, female brigade commander for the Class of 2021), the change can come from inside Annapolis.  Sam is called into the office and drops Rule 29.  “No unauthorized excursions,” Kam confirms.

Fatima confirms to Callen that Myskin’s credentials seem legit.  If it is backstopping it has to be state sponsored.  Callen realizes that Carlson was telling the truth – the DOJ wasn’t tracking him.  Callen is going to drop Myskin off at his SUV with Roundtree set-up to follow Myskin.

Nell arrives and asks about Callen’s tail.  When Fatima has nothing new to share, Nell puts an e-mail from Hetty on the big screen in Ops.  The e-mail has instructions for a party in the bottom of her desk drawer along with lots of numbers for food orders – 25 buns, four-pound of beef.  While Fatima understands it is a code, Nell is more worried about the final paragraph about the guests already arriving today and if the table isn’t set, the family will pay a terrible price.  Knowing that family means the team, whatever is going to happen is happening today.

Worried if it isn’t code Deeks needs NCIS’s Costco card, Kensi wants to know why Hetty would even send a message like that.  They’ve spoken to her recently.  Fatima joins Kensi, Deeks and Nell around the collaboration table.  In Hetty’s desk drawer was a book of poetry by Emily Dickinson.  Since poems were used in WWII to encode messages, Hetty could be using the book as her encryption source.  Nell and Fatima start matching the numbers to the book to see what they can translate.

With her tablet, Nell is able to start translating the e-mail.  Doby Distribution shows up on the screen.  They are an East LA company.  Kensi and Deeks are on their way.  Sam is going to meet them.  Deeks likes all the cloak and dagger parts of the case.  As they get to the bottom of the stairs, Kensi is dizzy.  Deeks eases her into her desk chair and gets water.  Knowing that some patients have a reaction, Deeks suggests that she work the case from the office, he’ll go to East LA.  Kensi tells him that’s not happening but soon stands up and struggles to stay that way.  Deeks is worried she will be hit with a wave of this while they are in the field.  As her body adjusts to the hormones, Deeks is sure she’s going to be fine but she’s working this case from her desk.  All he wants is for her to be healthy.  Deeks asks Kensi if she trusts him – she does.  He wants her to be safe.  They share I love yous before he kisses her on the top of her head and leaves.

Callen drops Myskin off at his car, warning the Russian that if he is caught trailing Callen again, the next car to drop him off won’t be as nice as Callen’s fancy sedan.  

Deeks pulls up in his big red truck and sees a sighing Sam.  Asking what’s wrong, Sam tells Deeks to pray he never has kids.  He is fighting with Kam and she’s not answering text messages.  Deeks is sure Kam is fine and Sam knows she is – he’s tracking the motion detectors on the boat.  Sam’s problem is that Kam is not speaking to him.  “With Big Father watching,” what does Sam expect, Deeks asks.  Looking around the Doby Distribution lot, there isn’t a single sign or a single person around.  There is no main office.  They are going to split up and take a look around.  Deeks makes Sam he’ll promise to text.

Kensi goes to Ops.  Fatima says Deeks told her about Kensi’s bad back.  Looking into Doby Distribution, they have no social media presence, no real presence at all.  They are owned by a number of shell companies. Kensi starts to help Fatima shift through them.

After not getting through to Arkady, Callen calls Roundtree, who watched Myskin drink four cups of coffee.  “He must have a bladder made of steel.”  Callen asks if Roundtree was made.  Myskin’s buddy pulls up.  Roundtree is ready to tail them.  Callen’s next call is to Nell looking for an update on Gonchgarov, who is still in critical condition in a coma.  Callen has lost all his connections to the case.  Nell isn’t sure Hetty’s e-mail even has to do with Russia.

On opposite sides of the warehouse, Deeks asks what really happened with Kam.  The Annapolis news is “huge” to Sam.  He’s not sure who she is anymore.  Sam is worried she is throwing her opportunity.  Deeks goes into a rather long story about childhood fried Darrel Donkins whose family owned the largest used car dealership in Reseda.  Darrel was the heir-apparent but he wanted to study zoology.  Sam thinks there is a difference between running an auto dealership in Reseda and getting into Annapolis.  True, but Darrel and Kam share one thing – a passion for something different.  Darrel followed his love and is living in Sacramento running a reptile zoo.  Sam thinks things worked out.  Not quite.  Darrel’s parents never accepted it.  They’re estranged.  Deeks thinks if Sam doesn’t know who Kam is right now, this is the opportunity to get to know who she is right now.  While he didn’t think it when they met, Sam tells Deeks he is going to be a great father.  Suddenly, shots are fired.  There are two dead bodies inside the warehouse.  Hetty’s party has started.

Neither victims have ID’s so Deeks sends photos of the dead men to Fatima.  Sam finds a weapon on one man’s body – he never got a chance to shoot back.  It was an ambush.  Sam finds some brass but Deeks sees a blood trail.  They follow it to a door and outside where it stops sudden.  Deeks is going to have Ops look for victims of gunshot wounds in local hospitals.

On the boat, Kam has a visitor in Logan Reynolds.  They’re cute.  She reminds him he has to ask permission to go on the boat.  He does and it is granted.  Noticing her things are packed, Logan asks what is going on.  Kam is on her way back to Keating and asks Logan for some company for the ride. Logan is all in until he hears Sam is in the dark about Kam’s move.  Logan takes Sam’s side against Kam just leaving.  It is clear to Logan that Sam loves Kam – he will come to seeing things Kam’s way.  But if she’s going back to Keating, Logan supports her decision.  He just won’t go with her.  Kam is surprised.

Roundtree tracked Myskin to a cabin in the Angeles National Forest.  There are three armed men watching the cabin with another vehicle near the cabin.  Callen tells Roundtree to set up overwatch, he’s on his way.  

Kensi stretched out on the couch in the area off the bullpen.  She’s got a bottle of water in hand and just finished a call when Nell arrives.  Nobody has shown up in the ER with gunshot wounds so maybe the shooters patched themselves up.  Cheery Nell thinks they could be dead and dumped somewhere. Kensi sits up and Nell is worried about her back.  Kensi admits her back is fine, surprising Nell.  Kensi whispers that she and Deeks are taking fertility treatments.  

Nell is excited for them.  Kensi is not so excited.  She’s on an emotional rollercoaster.  She’s battling with her body every day and trying not to show it.  They are still closing on the house.  Add in today’s side effects that she really didn’t think would happen and she’s waiting for the mood swings.  And this is just the beginning.  Nell thinks there is nobody in the world who can handle this like Kensi.  Anything Kensi needs – pickles, ice cream, pickled flavored ice cream – Nell is there for her.  She’s Kensi’s kind of boss but always friend.

No security cameras at the warehouse, which is odd for a distributor.  Fatima calls Sam and Deeks with news of the dead men.  One of the men was flagged by the CIA and they’re taking over the crime scene.  Sabatino knows nothing about Doby Distribution but Sam believes it is a CIA front.  The CIA involvement is why Hetty probably called.

Callen and Roundtree get closer to the cabin.  Looking at the door opening door of the cabin, Roundtree says someone is coming out.  Callen sees Anna – “son of a bitch.”  

Fatima thinks Anna showing up with a bunch of Russians and the e-mail from Hetty have to be connected.  Callen thinks he can learn how they are connected.  Kensi asks if he is going to knock on the cabin door.  That’s the plan.  While Callen goes to the cabin, Roundtree is setting up his sniper’s perch.

Callen walks right the front door.  Myskin stops him until Anna tells “Max” to let Callen inside.

At the warehouse, Carlson says hello to “the SEAL and the hyphenate”.   While the CIA pulled rank on NCIS, the DOJ pulled rank on the CIA.  It is Carlson’s warehouse now.  Sam reminds Carlson that the CIA doesn’t operate on US soil.  He is quickly corrected by Carlson.  The CIA does not operate covert actions against American citizens on US soil, they very much operate on US soil.  Since there are easier ways than to have a CIA front company buy a warehouse in East LA if this is a place to exchange secrets, Sam thinks it is for something bigger – a possible defection.  Carlson says nothing.

Callen is patted down, his ear-wig is removed.  Roundtree is able to set up a long distance mike to pick up some of the sound in the cabin.  

Being Callen, he congratulates Anna on the lovely cabin she built with her group.  He was north of LA a few weeks ago trying to surprise Anna.  She apologizes but Katya is back.  Anna knew she had to leave town to assess how much danger she was in but the threats were already coming in.  The threats weren’t just against Anna but Callen and Arkady too.  Callen could help but Anna needs to work outside the lines.  Anna used Arkady’s contacts.  Myskin and company are FSB.  Anna’s interests, getting rid of Katya, and the FBS’s interests, getting Katya back to Russia, align.  

The FSB has been trailing Callen which angers Callen.  Since he knew he had the tail, he hadn’t seen either Alex or Jake and they are his family.  Anna talks about missing Arkady but this was her problem to solve.  She had to keep everyone safe.  Anna’s phone rings and she takes the call.  

From the sniper’s perch, Roundtree asks if anything he heard made sense to Kensi or Fatima.  Kensi gives Roundtree the basics on Katya Miranova/Kate Miller including her unhealthy obsession with Anna.  From the boat shed, Deeks wonders how Katya got back to the US – she’s on NCIS’s watch list.  Sam thinks the CIA got her in.  If the incident at the warehouse was a botched defection, Katya was likely the defector.  Carlson was working the Russia spy beat.

Anna finishes her call – it was with an unhappy Arkady.  He does not like his new security protocols.  Callen can’t blame Arkady.  Can Anna even trust the guard she has.  Anna has a history with Myskin – both professional and personal – and he put together the security teams.  Anna’s phone rings again.  It is a video call from Katya and her new hostage – an injured Joelle - she was the CIA Officer shot in the warehouse who survived but is losing a lot of blood.

Anna is going to let Katya take her in exchange for Joelle.  She’ll be wearing a tracker and the team can get Anna back.  That plan doesn’t work with Callen but Anna says the alternative  is abandoning Joelle.  Anna’s plan is that NCIS secures Joelle while Callen and Myskin follow Anna.  Callen needs his ear-wig and gun back.   When Callen is putting in the ear-wig, Myskin knocks him out.  He has a change of plans for Anna.  Roundtree can’t make the shot.

The two men Myskin left behind tie up Callen and are debating killing him.  Shots take out the front door lock.  As the two men go to the door, they pass a wide-awake Callen.  Roundtree shoots one of the men.  Callen and an arriving Roundtree neutralizes the other.  While Roundtree stays behind with the men, Callen is going after Anna, who is being tracked by Fatima.

Kensi is bringing out her long rifle.  Nell asks if it is a good idea for Kensi to go in the field.  Saying the side effects have passed, Kensi promises Nell that if she needs time, she’ll ask and will always be honest about how she is feeling.  Kensi is ready to go into the field.

Fatima has the team going to a shipping dock in the Port of Los Angeles.  Multiple ways in and out, a tactical night mare.  Callen wants the surrounding area sealed up.  Katya can’t get away.

After the defection fiasco in the warehouse, Russia isn’t interested in getting Katya back, they’re interested in her being dead.  She can’t fall into US hands.  Myskin doesn’t really care what happens to Joelle.  Sam and Deeks arrive.  Myskin tells Sam and Deeks they are outnumbered,  With Kensi behind Myskin and his men, that’s not really true.  

Over a loudspeaker, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” starts to play.  A blue minivan shows up without Katya behind the wheel.  Myskin gets a text ordering Anna into the van.  He follows orders.  Deeks doesn’t like any of this.

As Anna nears the van, the door opens.  One of Myskin’s men starts shooting at the van.  Anna runs for cover as the van tries to get out of harm’s way.  The Russian and NCIS start shooting at each other as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons just keep singing.  Callen winds up shooting Myskin before Myskin can shoot him.

The van is an Uber.  There is no Katya.  

While Kensi and Deeks are sweeping the docks, Callen sends Sam home to Kam, who hasn’t moved all day.  As Anna starts explaining what is going on, Carlson comes to bring in Anna for questioning in the deaths of two CIA Officers – the guys in the warehouse – and the kidnapping of another, Joelle.  Callen offers to have NCIS join Carlson’s task force.  NCIS has a long history with Katya.  Carlson doesn’t care who has Anna, just that she is in custody.  Callen cuffs Anna.

Looking for Kam, Sam finds her returning from taking out the trash.  Sam was worried she ran off after their conversation earlier in the day.  Kam admits she nearly did – she’s almost a legal adult.  Sam reminds her of the almost part.  Kam can make her own decisions so she wanted to talk to Sam.  Sam is worried about the unforgiving world.  He can help her with Annapolis but Michelle could have better prepared Kam for the rest of the world.  Kam disagrees – both Sam and Michelle gave her all the tools she needs.  She needs to go back to Keating.   Making her mother’s famous meatloaf, Kam is going to talk to her father about non-Annapolis post-high school plans.

In interrogation, Anna gives Callen her phone to call Arkady.  Arkady needs to stay in his house.  Carlson enters and Callen gives her the room, quickly going to the monitor in the main section of the boat shed.  Nell walks in with Officer Harrison from LAPD.  A courier dropped off a package at LAPD for Callen.  It was x-rayed – no explosives or bioweapons.  Harrison brought it straight to NCIS.

With gloves on, Callen carefully opens the envelop.  There is a burner phone and a finger, likely Joelle’s.  The phone has a message.  “Now she’s losing ever more blood.  Follow the rules or next time I’ll send something larger.”

What head canon can be formed from here:  First – ick on Joelle’s finger.  

The Kam walking away from Annapolis storyline makes no sense as it was set-up.  In a few episodes the program goes from the Kam who surprised her father by applying and got Kamala Harris to nominate her to I’m not going after all Kam.  

I don’t think Sam was being intentionally unkind when he told Deeks to pray he didn’t have a kid.  Kensi and Deeks haven’t been sharing their fertility treatments with the others – they have appointments, not doctor’s appointments.  Nell was taken by surprise.  

The Darrel Donkins story was a nice throwback to season two’s “Borderline”.

Episode number:   This is episode 12 of season 12, two-thirds of the way through the season (though the half-way point in most other years).  It is episode 274.

So I've been having this idea since idk probably 2017: Scott is getting married and he throws some little engagement party and Alex is Scott's best man. But do you know who the best man of Scott's spouse is (whoever that may be)? Hank McCoy of course :) And since him and Alex have the same duties, they can't help but spend time with one another :)))))))))

When I first got this, I was like "What does a best man even do?" A hell of A LOT of work. Like damn, they deserve some respect for how much they do for their friend's wedding.

“Hey Scott, I’m here. What happened? Is everything alright?”

When Alex woke up this morning to see three missed calls and several texts from Scott, he was in a panic. Scott said to meet him at their usual café where they have lunch every Saturday, and to be quick because it was urgent. He should know better than to immediately assume the worst has happened and he never got so ready and out the door so quick in his life.

“What? Alex I’m fine. Sit down get a drink, you look like you need it.” Scott says looking at Alex as if he was crazy.

Alex slumps down into his seat and smiles at the waitress that was quick to arrive as he orders a coffee. “So what’s urgent?” He asks when he finally takes a sip from his coffee and wrapping his hands around the warm mug.

He didn’t know what he expected really. Maybe if Scott and Logan broke up after five years of dating, or if he lost his job, or god forbid they are struggling to pay for rent, but he really wasn’t expecting for his older brother to hold up his left hand with a huge smile on his face. Showing off his engagement ring with what looks to be the biggest diamond on it. “I’m getting married!” He says excitedly.

“Oh wow! Congratulations Scott. This is great news.” He says as his brain struggles to process what he was seeing. “You expected bad news, didn’t you?” He asks and Alex feels his cheeks grow hot as he gives him a sheepish grin. “Maybe?” He manages to says and Scott rolls his eyes. “You have to stop being so negative Alex.” He says and the blond knew his older brother was teasing. “Yeah to be fair, when you wake up to three missed calls and a lot of urgent text messages, you would have thought the same thing.” He argues and Scott chuckles as he leans back in his seat.

“True.” He says.

“But really. You deserve this Scott, I’m happy for you.” He says softly and Scott gives him a smile as he squeezes Alex’s hand. “Thank Alex.” He says just as soft. “Would you two like anything to eat?” A waitress asks, kind of ruining the moment and she gives the brothers a apologetic smile, knowing she did just that. “What’s the special?” Scott asks. “Vegetable beef today.”

“Oh that sounds good, I’ll have that please.”

Alex smiles as he gently shakes his head. Scott and his soup, he never understood how Scott loves soup so much. “I’ll just have the usual.” He says and she nods. “Don’t you ever want to try something new?” He asks and Alex shrugs. Scott gives him an amused grin before he clears his throat and gives his baby brother a serious look.

“I wanted to ask you a important question.” He says and Alex realizes that they weren’t playing around anymore. “Of course, what is it?” He asks.

“Will you be my best man?”

Alex stares at him before he gives him a huge smile. “Of course man! I would love to. Wait, what does the best man even do?” He asks. He has never been a huge part of a wedding before, he only ever attended two in his life. “Don’t worry, I will give you a number of Logan’s best man and let you two talk it out. He’s been a best man before.” He says as he grabs Alex’s phone that was resting on top of the table. “Wait, you expect me to talk to Logan’s best man. If he’s like your fiancé, I want nothing of it.” He says.

“Oh come on! He is nothing like Logan. Trust me, he will help. He’s like nice, tall, brunet, glasses-”

“So a nerd then.” Alex deadpans.

“Alex, please just give him a chance. I have a little engagement party on Saturday, you should come over and meet Hank in person. Trust me, you won’t regret this.”

He couldn’t believe he was doing this, but it was important to his brother, and he’ll do anything for his family.

“You made it!” Scott beams as he pulls him into a hug. Alex winces at how tightly he was hugging him but he squeezes him back. “Barely.” He mutters and Scott huffs but gives him a fond smile. “Come on, you need to meet Hank!” Alex doesn’t think he ever seen his brother become so excited over something before, but since he started dating Logan, he was nothing full of smiles and laughter.

It made him happy seeing his older brother happy.

Scott takes his hand and pull him over to Logan where he was talking to a tall brunet. That must be Hank. “Logan.” Alex says and the man gives him a grin. “Hey slim, about time you showed up. Scott has been anxiously waiting for you to arrive.” The blond couldn’t help but grin when Scott smacks his fiancé in the shoulder with his cheeks flushed. “What can I say? I like to arrive fashionably late. Probably got it from my mother.” He jokes, causing Logan to snort.

“Anyway, Alex I like for you to meet Hank McCoy, he is Logan’s best man. Hank I like you to meet my younger brother Alex.” He introduces.

Alex wasn’t sure what to think. The first thought that came up was ‘oh no, he’s hot’ that quickly morph to him mentally asking how the hell does Logan know a nerd like McCoy. Last time he heard was Logan wasn’t a fan of nerds. The brunet gives him a friendly grin and holds out a hand. “So you’re the Alex that Scott can’t stop talking about. It’s nice to meet you.” He says with a low tone and what is Scott up to?

Alex realizes that just standing there is rude and quickly shakes his hand. “Only good things I hope.” He says shyly. “I’m not that evil, now go and talk, become friends.” Scott demands as he pushes Logan along as he walks away.

“Okay, he’s up to something. He only acts like this when he tries to do things for me that I don’t like.” Hank gives him a amused look as he grabs a couple of champagne flutes off a tray as a waitress passes by and hands one to the blond.

How the hell do they afford this?

“So I heard this is your first time being a best man.” The bozo says after he takes a sip out of his glass. “Uh yeah, one can say I don’t go out a lot. Only been to like two weddings and they’re lucky I even go. Mostly go for the food.” He confesses. “Well we have a lot to talk about then.”

“Sure, lead the way bozo.” He internally winces when Hank gives him a sharp look. Why can’t he keep his mouth shut? “Well we have to take in a lot to account for. We are in charge of planning the bachelor party for each of them, shop for formalwear, coordinate travel and make sure everyone book their hotel rooms early, attend pre-wedding events, help guests on the wedding day and lots more.” Hank lists off.

What? Alex knew for a fact he got zero of that and he blinks. Scott expects him of all people to pull that off? “Overwhelmed? Don’t worry, I was just like you the first time. I wished I had someone to help me.” He comments. “Yeah, I’m grateful, thanks.” He says and Hank gives him a grin.

Why does he keep smiling at Alex? He can’t be distracted right now.

“Thankfully we have eight months to plan, so we got lots of time to take this slow and easy. Did Scott already give you my number? Don’t worry, he already gave me yours.” He asks and Alex nods wordlessly. “Perfect, then we can meet up quite a bit.”

Alex had to admit, Hank was really nice and extremely helpful as the hours went by. Of course don’t get him wrong, Hank was still a nerd, but he was a great guy.

“So what did Scott tell you about me exactly?” Alex has been gearing himself up to ask this question all night and he finally gathered the courage to ask. “He told me how nice you were, and how you had a temper but once I get to know you that you were like the sweetest guy on the planet. He also kept on telling me about how you don’t date and don’t like to leave the apartment but you loved animals and your job.”

Oh.

Oh.

Scott was so going to get it.

“Of course, I should’ve known. Can you give me a minute? I’ll be right back.” He says sweetly and Hank gives him a slightly wide eyed look. “You’re not going to kill him are you?” He asks and Alex smiles. “No, just a very stern talking to, maybe a threat or two. Just sibling stuff.” He replies truthfully.

Scott was going to die tonight.

“Well, if you want to know, he was right. You are pretty awesome once I get to know you.” Hank says shyly and blushes. Alex could feel his own cheeks grow hot and he gives him a shy smile. “Yeah?” He asks. Hank seemed to see that Alex wasn’t going to kill anyone at the moment and he gives him a confident smile. “Yeah.” He says softly.

Killing Scott can wait.

The Best Horror Movies Streaming On Netflix Right Now

The number of digital platforms on which fans of horror movies can find a good scare is just as frightening as the films they have available to stream. In fact, there is even one that specializes in bringing the best the genre has to offer (and then some). Of course, for those who only have so much time and money at their disposal, settling on Netflix to help deliver the spooks would not be a mistake.

There are enough horror movies available on the popular platform to keep you streaming into the wee hours of the night, mainly because you will not be able to sleep. Among the many fears you would be facing during this binge with iconically creepy classics, modern masterpieces of the macabre, and even some of Netflix’s own ominous originals, one you should not have to worry about is the fear of disappointment.

That being said, we understand that some phobias are more challenging to get over than others, so allow us to be a beacon of despair and point you in the right direction of what the best horror movies currently available to stream on Netflix. We figured that 13 would be an appropriate number, starting with an influential cult favorite that arguably pioneered the “cabin in the woods” thriller.

The Evil Dead (1981)

A weekend getaway and an old cabin becomes an unrelenting nightmare for one man (Bruce Campbell) after his four friends are possessed by an ancient spirit that turns them into grotesque and cruel creatures.

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: Writer and director Sam Raimi became the patron saint of low budget indie horror with The Evil Dead, that remains a timeless classic of astonishing influence that spawned two campy sequels, a brilliantly brutal remake, and a hilarious TV series that serves as a perfect send-off for Bruce Campbell's chainsaw-handed hero, Ash Williams.

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: From producer Steven Spielberg and directed by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre creator Tobe Hooper (well, depending on who you talk to), Poltergeist is an essential haunted house picture for how it expertly taps into traumas that people of all ages an relate to and may lead you to develop new fears as well, such as television static, perhaps.

Child’s Play (1988)

A single mother (Catherine Hicks) enlists the aid of a homicide detective (Chris Sarandon) after discovering that the doll she bought for her young son (Alex Vincent) is possessed by the soul of a dead serial killer (Brad Dourif).

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: Before there was Annabelle, there was Chucky, who may not have been the first toy responsible for giving children nightmares, but certainly became every horror fan's favorite of that kind upon the release of Child's Play, a classic slasher but pokes great fun at modern commercialism.

The Silence Of The Lambs (1991)

To catch a deranged murderer who skins his victims, ambitious FBI trainee Clarice Starling (Academy Award winner Jodie Foster) enlists Hannibal Lecter (Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins), a former psychiatrist and notorious cannibal, to help get into the mind of a criminal.

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: While the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences may prefer their choice for the Best Picture Oscar in 1992 not be called "horror," with Anthony Hopkins' chilling performance and breathlessly suspenseful direction by Jonathan Demme, it is hard to imagine The Silence of the Lambs in any other category.

Candyman (1992)

A graduate student (Virginia Madsen) investigating Chicago myths for her college thesis becomes especially interested on the story of a supernatural entity with a hook for a hand whom locals believe can be summoned by saying his name five times.

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: Tony Todd created quite a "buzz" in black horror history as the title character of Candyman, a creation from legendary writer Clive Barker based on the deliciously creepy concept of an urban legend whose existence depends on those who believe in him.

Insidious (2011)

After their eldest son (Ty Simpkins) inexplicably falls into something even doctors hesitate to call a coma, a family (led by Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne) begins to fall prey to a relentless evil that seems to follow them whenever they try to escape.

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: Director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell, the dynamic duo behind Saw who have since gone onto great successes on their own, created an indelibly frightening new classic to the haunted house sub-genre with Insidious, particularly for a nearly unprecedented twist that might actually have you thankful when it keeps you up at night.

Sinister (2012)

Desperate for another bestseller, a true crime writer (Ethan Hawke) moves his family into a house where a disturbing murder took place, which he plans to research for his latest masterpiece, only to learn that the truth behind the incident is much worse than he could have imagined.

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: Oscar-nominee Ethan Hawke became an unexpected "scream king" after playing the tragic hero of Sinister, from Doctor Strange and The Exorcism of Emily Rose director Scott Derrickson, which is, arguably, the most ferociously unsettling supernatural crime thriller ever made.

Creep (2014)

An amateur filmmaker accepts a request over Craigslist to film a terminally ill man's final message to his son, but quickly comes to regret the decision when his host's progressively concerning actions lead him to question if he is the one about to expire.

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: Conceived by its own stars Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice (the latter of which also directs), Creep is an underrated found footage gem that mostly lives up to its name (with a almost equally haunting 2017 follow-up that is supposedly the second of a planned trilogy), but the biggest shocker is how mumblecore pioneers Duplass and Brice essentially improvised the entire story from scratch.

The Invitation (2015)

A man brings his girlfriend to a dinner party hosted by his ex-wife and her new lover, but is immediately, and unshakably, convinced that something sinister is afoot.

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: As this tenuous, high-wire act from director Karen Kusama progresses, you may not be sure who among these party guests, even Logan Marshall Green's protagonist, is worth your trust, but one thing I can confidently guarantee is is that the final moment of The Invitation will rupture your brain.

Train To Busan (2016)

An emotionally distant businessman's commute for his young daughter to visit her mother turns out to be a one-way trip into hell when someone carrying a virus turning people into mindless cannibals invites herself on board.

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: Not only is the live-action debut of Korean filmmaker Sang-ho Yeon’s one of the most exciting and clever zombie films in recent memory, but Train to Busan, which has spawned a highly anticipated sequel, also succeeds as a moving thriller about the sacrifices we make for ones we love.

Terrifier (2017)

Two beautiful late night partygoers (Jenna Kanell and Catherine Corcoran) are in for the worst Halloween of their lives when they fall prey to an unfriendly clown who has plenty of sadistic trick and treats in store for them.

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: If you ask me, Pennywise has nothing on Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton), the future slasher icon whom the title of Terrifier appropriately refers to for his whimsically morbid imagination and tenacious blood thirst that makes director Damien Leone’s third feature a masterpiece of unapologetic shock and "ugh."

In The Tall Grass (2019)

A pregnant woman (Laysla De Oliveira) and her brother (Avery Whitted) follow a young boy's cry for help into a large field of high-growing grass, but it soon it becomes apparent that there is no way out.

Why It's A Good Option for Horror Fans: Based on a novella by father/son writing duo Stephen King and Joe Hill, In the Tall Grass is a survivalist thriller with startling fantasy, engrossing mystery, and a menacing performance by "scream king" and The Conjuring star Patrick Wilson that makes this Netflix original one of the coolest surprises in horror of its year.

Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil (2010)
