Women held a permits to demonstrate for their rights. Police don’t respond when they were attacked and trans activists are trying to pull a DARVO when recounting the events.
Women peacefully demonstrating against gender ideology were physically attacked by trans activists on Wednesday in Tacoma, Washington, during a planned counter-protest that has resulted in one woman sustaining a severely injured hand.
A group of women assembled on Wednesday at Tacoma’s Tollefson Plaza to publicly express their concerns about gender ideology and its impact on women and children. The demonstration was one of several that had been organized as part of a tour featuring UK-based women’s rights campaigner, Kellie-Jay Keen. Keen is known for having founded Standing for Women to raise awareness of issues surrounding sex self-identification policies.
Organizers of the protest included Lierre Keith, founder of US non-profit Women’s Liberation Front, April Morrow of Washington-based organization Sovereign Women Speak, and Amy Sousa, a women’s rights activist who has been involved in setting up public speech events across the United States modeled after London’s Speaker’s Corner tradition.
Demonstrators held signs which read, “Woman: Adult Human Female,” and “Girls’ Privacy is Not Yours to Give Away.”
Tumblr media
Counter protesters arrived prepared with signs reading “No TERFs in T Town” and “Trans Women are Women.” Many were students from the local high school, Tacoma School of the Arts, located nearby. Their group quickly outnumbered and surrounded the women in the plaza, removing signs that had been posted by the women’s rights collective in the vicinity.
Serve the People Tacoma (STP), which describes itself as a “socialist mutual aid program,” called for followers to stage a counter demonstration in order to “show them they aren’t welcome.”
STP’s co-chair, a trans-identified male named Zev Cook, was present at the event and was holding a sign which read “stop harassing me in the bathroom you weird perverts.”
Tumblr media
In one of the recordings available of the demonstration, an anonymous trans activist wearing a skirt was seen aggressively lunging towards Lierre Keith while she was speaking. Amy Sousa quickly intervenes, holding the man back as he screams, “get the f*ck out of here.” The anti-feminist protesters can also be heard in the background chanting, “Go home, TERFs!”
In another clip, the same skirt-wearing man can again be seen charging at the group of women.
Tumblr media
At one point, Tacoma School of the Arts principal Jon Ketler was also spotted near the protest, claiming he had no power over the students and could not force them to stop participating in the harassment and abuse of the women.
Tumblr media
During the event, one women’s rights demonstrator was forced to use self-defense spray against a trans activist after he tried to spit directly into her face.
Jeanna Hoch had been one of multiple demonstrators attempting to hold the line around where the women had been speaking, using a sign to create a physical barrier between herself and multiple males who had closed in on the space.
At one point, one of the young trans activists appears to try and spit directly in Hoch’s face, something she responds to by holding up her sign to protect herself, and then issuing a blast of self-defense spray. The two men who had been flanking her tried to then physically intervene on behalf of the trans activist, and Hoch defends herself against them as well.
One of the other men flanking Hoch, seen wearing black sunglasses, is a local women’s studies graduate named Sweet Pea Flaherty. Flaherty owns King’s Books, a specialty bookseller on St. Helen’s Avenue. On the store’s site, Flaherty boasts that he mainly reads “young adult books with strong female protagonists.”
Tumblr media
On social media, trans activists quickly spun the news into a claim that Hoch had “pepper sprayed high school students,” with no apparent cause. But the trans activist who had attempted to spit on Hoch, and was subsequently pepper sprayed, was over the age of 18 by his own admission.
Trans activists on social media also claimed there was another incident of Hoch apparently mass-spraying a group of minors, but have not substantiated the claims in any way.
Hoch, along with other women, had previously been assaulted in Portland, Oregon, on October 25.
In addition to Hoch, another woman was physically assaulted and sustained a severely injured hand as a result. April Morrow’s hand was “crushed” by an adult male trans activist attempting to wrangle her phone out of her hand. Morrow provided an update to Reduxxthrough Amy Sousa on her condition, noting that her fingers were still “swollen and stiff” and that she had an appointment for an x-ray to determine the extent of the damage for Monday.
During the live-streamed broadcast of the demonstration, viewers were urged to call the Tacoma Police Department and request that they provide protection for the women’s rights protestors, who had obtained a lawful permit to hold their event.
But, according to Kellie-Jay Keen and other pro-woman demonstrators, Tacoma police had been unresponsive to their requests for help. The event was forced to conclude early as a result of increasing safety concerns.
Tumblr media
Originally, the Standing for Women event had been scheduled to take place in Portland, Oregon. However, after receiving threats from Antifa and a statement from police insinuating that the demonstration would not receive the protection of authorities, the location was changed to Tacoma.
The following day, October 27, several of the women at the Tacoma event spoke at a school board meeting, articulating frustration at the violence and threats they endured and at the lack of police intervention.
In one largely inaccurate local news report of the demonstration, the women involved were smeared as “virulently anti-transgender,” and the violence against them was massively downplayed.
Speaking to Reduxx, women’s rights advocate Amy Sousa said she was still “flushed with outrage” over what had happened on Wednesday.
“We are living in a time when women are being attacked in broad daylight for simply standing up for sex-based safeguarding for women and girls,” Sousa says.
Tumblr media
Sousa, one of the event’s organizers, physically intervened in an attempted assault on Lierre Keith mid-speech, sustaining a bruised chest as a result. But Sousa says that, despite the risks, she felt compelled to defend Keith.
“When I saw that man running to tackle a woman from behind, my instincts took over and I responded by rushing in to defend her.”
Sousa says that the male who attempted to assault Keith was not a student, but had been one of the Antifa proponents who had come to intimidate the women. She points out that the activist had been wearing reinforced gloves with hard-knuckles.
She goes on to explain that the attack on the pro-woman demonstrators appears to have been well-organized between multiple Antifa-style groups in the area, noting that many of the trans activists even had “ear pieces” in for coordination.
“Male violence against women is being publicly condoned. As I also said in my speech, women do not consent,” Sousa says. “I’m proud to stand up at events like these knowing that more and more women are standing up to affirm our boundaries, instincts, and bodily integrity as women.”
Sousa has been regularly involved in setting-up pro-woman demonstrations in the west-coast this year, most notably in support of Julie Jaman — an senior woman who was banned from her local swimming pool after objecting to the presence of a male in the women’s shower room.
Jaman, 80, had spoken at an August event in Port Townsend, Washington, which was organized by Sousa and RevFoxxUSA in response to Jaman’s ban from the local YMCA. During the event, Jaman and the other pro-woman demonstrators were hackled and shouted down by trans activists, one of whom even ripped down a suffragette flag.
Reports of violence against women organizing for their sex-based rights has seen a definite uptick over the past year.
In both July and August, lesbian activists in Germany were physically assaulted by trans activists for holding signs displaying the definition of lesbian as “female homosexual.”
During the July incident, trans activists heckled and harassed the women, and at one point a masked man rushed a young woman who had been holding a lesbian pride flag and put her in a headlock, wrapping his arms tightly around her neck and strangling her.
During a protest against sex trafficking held in Paris on International Women’s Day, members of L’Amazone, as well as Osez le Féminisme and Résistance Lesbienne, all groups who are known for their strong stances in favor of women’s sex-based rights, were assaulted seven times in the span of just 20 minutes by trans and “queer” activists.

On November 17, 2021, the Women’s Liberation Front, or WoLF, filed a civil rights lawsuit in California that drew almost no coverage. A press corps gearing up to be outraged en masse by the Amber Heard-Johnny Depp defamation case had zero interest in a lawsuit filed by far poorer female abuse victims.
Janine Chandler et al vs. California Department of Corrections targeted a new California state law, the “The Transgender Respect, Agency, and Dignity Act,” a.k.a. S.B. 132. The statute allows any prisoner who self-identifies as a woman — including prisoners with penises who may have stopped taking hormones — into women’s prisons. There was nothing TV-friendly about the scenes depicted in the complaint:
After a week spent denounced for reviewing the Matt Walsh documentary What is a Woman?, and for saying things I think will be boring conventional wisdom within a year, I was ready to never go near trans issues again and move to the impending financial disaster. But accident sucked me back. I’d made a point of pride of not reading a line of commentary about Heard-Depp, but listened to an episode of Blocked and Reported that touched on it after it was over, and learned three things that made me furious and think immediately of Chandler.
One, the ACLU, in apparent exchange for a pledge of $3.5 million, ghost-wrote Heard’s offending editorial, and in particular a line about her having “felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out.” Two: Guardian writer Moira Donegan declared, “We are in a moment of virulent antifeminist backlash.” Three: Vice proclaimed without irony, “We’ve all failed Amber Heard.” Almost as one, the establishment press declared itself concerned with the suffering of a rich actress. However, there’s a gaping loophole in their concern for women, and Chandler sits in the middle of it.
Let’s talk about “the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out” in the context of this case:
The group bringing the suit, WoLF, has been targeted from every conceivable angle by pressure and censorship campaigns. While we at least heard about protesting Canadian truckers having their GoFundMe campaigns frozen, WoLF didn’t even bother trying to raise money on that platform, “because they just ban you really easily,” as legal director Lauren Adams put it.
They moved to a purportedly speechier platform, GiveButter, hoping they would have “less of a censorious kind of view.” But even GiveButter soon gave WoLF the boot (I reached out to the company, which hasn’t provided public comment yet). “It was just a general fundraiser,” Adams explains. “And they said we violated their community standards. So now we’re on GiveSendGo, which is a Christian crowdfunding site.”
If there’s a better illustration of the upside-down state of politics in 2022 America, it’s a feminist activist group forced to seek cyber-refuge in a Christian fundraising company.
Even people who submit declarations in WoLF’s prison case may not be immune. On May 31st, biologist and Substack author Colin Wright submitted a declaration in the Chandler case essentially testifying to the biological difference between men and women. “Being male or female is an immutable characteristic of each human,” he wrote.
On June 10th, Wright was informed by the online commerce platform Etsy that, after a “comprehensive review,” his account was permanently closed. A letter from the firm’s “content moderation team” deemed him guilty of “glorifying hatred or violence towards protected groups.”
Wright, known for writing on Quillette about gender, science, and speech, and for being one of the few PhDs still willing to publicly endorse “biological sex” — the iron unanimity on the cultural left against this once uncontroversial scientific tenet goes beyond anything I remember from the winger anti-evolutionists of the eighties and nineties — started selling merchandise on Etsy as a secondary revenue stream. His products included stickers and hats marked with the logo, “Reality’s Last Stand.”
Clearly, Wright’s merchandise reflects a point of view about a controversial topic. But his ban came from a company that also sells “Fuck TERFs Skateboarding Cat” stickers and “Fuck J.K. Rowling / STFU TERFs” handmade greeting cards. Etsy did not respond to requests for comment.
The payment processing company PayPal also told Wright it had “decided to permanently limit your account.” This ban chronologically took place before Etsy’s move, and the company denies it had anything to do with his editorial stances. There have been cases where PayPal has been open about suspending service over content, for instance in the historic decision to stop transfers to Wikileaks in 2010 after urging from the U.S. State Department. This instance is less clear, but that’s part of the problem with the content moderation era: the processes are so opaque that even in cases where reasons aren’t announced, service terminations still end up having a chilling effect on speakers.
“There have been organizations who’ve made promises,” says Wright. “They said, ‘We’re pro-free speech,’ only have to have them update their terms-of-service and retroactively start banning people,” says Wright.
The Green declaration highlighted a growing schism on what was once the political left. The ACLU just proudly announced an attempt to challenge Chandler with other “LGBTQ organizations.” It’s weird enough to see the ACLU — which historically has used most careful language in defending everyone from Neo-Nazis to NAMBLA — issue a press release bluntly describing a feminist organization like WoLF as “bigoted.” It’s weirder still when the complainants are women, many with extensive histories of sexual abuse, suing on behalf of a community that is disproportionately LGB, as 42% of incarcerated women identify as lesbian or bisexual.
“It’s a huge disproportionate number,” says Adams. “Almost half. So it’s concerning when you have these publications who are supposed to be speaking for this population, who are dragging them for even speaking up about documented incidents.”
A prison case like Chandler will be the last taboo to fall, as that issue getting real coverage would punch a big hole in the mania. Even if you believe that transgender people need a full complement of rights and better protection in prison, and I’m in that category, there can’t be that many people willing to stand up and argue in favor of housing un-transitioned inmates with penises and criminal sex-abuse records in cells with women. Can there? If agitating against that is bigotry, what’s progress?

In the 1980s, the Reagan administration used witch-hunts against “welfare mothers” and AIDS victims to distract from its union busting, Cold War nuclear buildup and vicious austerity measures. Today the U.S. ruling class has settled on trans people as a scapegoat for the crisis of its system: the stripping away of people’s basic rights, skyrocketing inflation, abandonment of public health, proxy wars that threaten to ignite World War III and global environmental catastrophe.

I mess the days when the ACLU stood with women.
The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a brief in a support of dismissing a lawsuit seeking to halt the transfer of male inmates to women’s prisons. In the brief, the ACLU claims that denying male sex offenders transfer to women’s prisons is “discriminatory” and “unconstitutional.”
The lawsuit was brought against the state of California in 2021 after the Women’s Liberation front (WoLF) began representing four female inmates currently incarcerated in the state who had experienced violations of their rights at the hands of male inmates who had been transferred. One of the female inmates involved in WoLF’s suit is a victim of sexual assault by a trans-identified male transferred under SB-132.
SB-132, or the Transgender Respect, Agency, and Dignity Act, went into effect in January of 2021, and allowed male inmates to seek transfer to women’s prisons on the basis of self-declared gender identity. Male inmates do not have to be on hormones, have surgery, be diagnosed with gender dysphoria, or even have legal documents supporting their transgender status in order to gain transfer.
On May 9, the ACLU filed a proposal to intervene in the suit, claiming that the state of California could not adequately represent their interests against WoLF, and that they must join in to defend SB-132.
But a legal brief filed by the ACLU on May 16 now reveals part of its key argument against WoLF’s lawsuit includes a wild assertion that trans-identified male offenders should not be denied transfer under any circumstances related to their criminal history — including if they are sex offenders.
In the brief, the ACLU argues that so long as females who are convicted of crimes against women are allowed to be housed in women’s prisons, there is no basis to prevent males with similar convictions from entry.
Tumblr media
Speaking with Reduxx on the brief, WoLF Legal Director Lauren Adams says she wasn’t surprised by the ACLU’s decision to take this approach, but was still incredulous at how “brazen” it was.
“They’re openly telling the court that moving over 300 men, including nearly 100 sex offenders into a facility full of women is safe, practical, and doesn’t violate the female inmate’s rights.”
Adams points out that the ACLU quotes breakthrough anti-sex discrimination precedents to claim that denying males access to female spaces is discriminatory and unconstitutional.
“They took a quote from Ruth Bader Ginsberg when she was sitting on the Supreme Court and overseeing the Virginia Military Institute case … [the ACLU] took a quote in which she was stating that an all-male policy reflected generalizations about how women are, and used that to argue that suggesting women don’t have penises is a discriminatory generalization about how women are.”
Adams adds that some of the ACLU’s arguments are stronger than others, but that she “wouldn’t want to be the one” in the position of trying to put forth their case.
“I do believe the ACLU is effectively attempting to make the argument that a male cannot be denied transfer under any circumstances. I don’t know if they are trying to put forth that argument, but that’s what they’re doing.”
While the California Department of Corrections (CDCR) has claimed there is guidance in place to prevent the transfer of high-risk male offenders into the female estate, few males have been denied transfer so far, and the reasons for their denial are unknown.
According to Keep Prisons Single Sex USA, 33.8% of all male inmates seeking transfer to women’s prisons are sex offenders, and the Bureau of Prisons has affirmed that sex offenders are responsible for up to 50% of rapes which occur within prisons.
Adams says WoLF will be spending the rest of the month organizing their response to the ACLU’s brief.

Hostages tortured to death. Parents executed in front of their children. Doctors beaten. Babies murdered. Sexual assault weaponised. No, not Hamas crimes. This is part of an ever-growing list of documented atrocities committed by Israel in the five months since 7 October – quite separate from the carpet bombing of 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza and a famine induced by Israel’s obstruction of aid. And yet while the western establishment media has been chock full of the most lurid allegations of savagery directed against Hamas, sometimes with little or no supporting evidence, Israeli atrocities are excused or quickly forgotten. Accusations against Hamas are endlessly reheated to paint a picture of a supremely dangerous and bestial militant group, in turn rationalising the slaughter and starvation of Gaza’s population to “eradicate” it as a terrorist organisation. But equally barbarous atrocities committed by Israel – not in the heat of battle, but in cold blood – are treated as unfortunate, isolated incidents that cannot be connected, that paint no picture, that reveal nothing of import about the military that carried them out. If Hamas’ crimes were so savage and sadistic they still need to be reported months after they took place, why does the establishment media never feel the need to express equal horror and indignation at equivalent or worse acts of cruelty and sadism being inflicted by Israel on Gaza – not five months ago, but right now? Israel's torture of doctors, its sexual assaults of Palestinian women, it's leaving premature babies to die after its forces stormed a hospital. Where is the outrage? This is part of a pattern of behaviour by the western media that leads to only one possible deduction: Israel’s five-month-long attack on Gaza is not being reported. Rather, it is being selectively narrated – and for the most obscene of purposes. Through consistent and glaring failures in their coverage, establishment media – including supposedly liberal outlets, from the BBC and CNN to the Guardian and New York Times – have smoothed the way for Israel to carry out mass slaughter in Gaza, what the World Court has assessed as plausibly a genocide. The role of the media has not been to keep us, their audiences, informed about one of the greatest crimes in living memory. It has been to buy time for US President Joe Biden to keep arming his most useful of client states in the oil-rich Middle East, and to do so without damaging his prospects for re-election in November’s US presidential vote. If Russian President Vladimir Putin was a madman and a barbarous war criminal for invading Ukraine, as every western media outlet agrees, what does that make Israeli officials, when every one of them supports far worse atrocities in Gaza, directed overwhelmingly at civilians? And more to the point, what does that make Biden and the US political class for materially backing Israel to the hilt: sending bombs, vetoing demands for a ceasefire at the United Nations, and freezing desperately needed aid? Worrying about the optics, the president expresses his discomfort, but he carries on helping Israel regardless. While western politicians and commentators worry about some imaginary existential threat those brief events of five months ago pose to the nuclear-armed state of Israel, Israel is quite literally wiping Gaza off the map day by day, quite undisturbed.

Feminism has always, always had a history with Racism and White Supremacy - particularly in a way that promotes fascist leaning "Protection for Me and Mine" type "activism".
There have always been several Upper Class, White, Women at the helm of Feminist movements and it is something Poor, Working Class, Women of Color have been vocally criticizing since the First Wave.
I mean, US Americans, did you not learn about Sojourner Truth? Have you not read "Ain't I A Woman?"? It is one of the most famous early accounts of the racialized nature of gender. It perfectly highlights the way the social aspects of gender have always been barred from People of Color in a way they aren't barred from White People in a firsthand historical account.
Women's Suffrage, and subsequently the First Wave of Feminism was an actively Racially Segregated movement. White Suffragettes intentionally campaigned for themselves and themselves only because they thought that campaigning for Black, Immigrant, and Indigenous Women would undermine their own movement. They did not seek liberation for women, they sought the Systemic, Institutional Power of their White Male Peers and they got it - by intentionally leaving Women of Color behind them.
This is most evident in the fact that White Women received the right to vote in 1920, but Black Women did not receive the right to vote until 1965 with the Voting Rights Act. Almost 50 years later. That is over half a lifetime. This was also only approximately 2-3 years before Radical Feminism and the Second Wave began around 1967~1968.
If you think racial segregation and racism in the Feminist Movement ended with Black Women's suffrage and completely dissipated within the two years it took for the Second Wave to pick up it's feet, you are naïve at best and actively racist yourself at worst. The Women's Liberation Movement / Radical Feminism have always been White Woman's movements riding the coattails of the Suffragette's racism.
Look at the website for the Women's Liberation Front. WoLF is one of the original Radical Feminist organizations. It was founded in the late 60's and is one of the largest Radfem organizations to date. Now. Look at their board. Look at the photos of women they choose to include across their site. Look at the women who are speaking at their events. Beyond one or two token Black Women, it is a sea of Whiteness.
You know who is a special advisor to WoLF and the founder of the group "Standing for Women"? Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, aka Posie Parker. Kellie-Jay is the woman who popularized "Woman means adult human female" as an anti-trans slogan. Kellie-Jay is also real good buddies with - you guessed it! Neo-Nazis and White Supremacists!
WoLF also takes money from the Alliance Defending Freedom, (ADF) a Right Wing Christian Organization, and it's members have worked directly with the Heritage Foundation, a Conservative organization founded during the Reagan Presidency.
Radical Feminism as a political movement cares about the lives and held power of White Women under the guise of "Women's Liberation" in the exact same way as their foremothers, the Suffragettes. It's a foundationally White Supremacist movement. Black Feminists, Indigenous Feminists, Immigrant Feminists, and Colonized Feminists have been talking about this for over a century but it falls on White ears so why would they listen.

i need liberals to understand that this is what people are talking about when we say that the democratic party and the republican party are functionally the same when it comes to US imperialism. bernie is one of the most progressive politicians in the country, yet he falls in line with the bipartisan status quo of supporting israel's genocide.
notice how he never calls out israel once. who murdered upwards of 11,000 men, women, and children? who destroyed thousands of people's homes and displaced them? who has been bombing schools, bakeries, hospitals, ambulances, residences, and fleeing refugees? and the fact that he makes this a "democrats vs republicans" issue is equally damning. the front to defend israel is BIPARTISAN because it SERVES UNITED STATES IMPERIALIST INTERESTS. he says there should be humanitarian aid but that aid will only do so much IF ISRAEL JUST KEEPS BOMBING PEOPLE.
it's been over a month of genocide and he hasn't called for a ceasefire. rashida tlaib - the only palestinian in congress and one of the ONLY people with the moral clarity and backbone necessary to call for a ceasefire and acknowledge palestinians as human beings - was PUNISHED for speaking out against the genocide. every single person who calls for a ceasefire, who calls israel's genocide for what it is, is slandered and punished.
you CANNOT reduce these issues to a superficial conversation about "republicans vs. democrats". to do so ignores the fact that, even if democrats are socially progressive, they're still willing to murder and exploit people outside the united states for the sake of the empire's material, imperialist interests.
