For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul?

C.S.Lewis: the obsessive desire to be grown up and the love of worldly things because they make us feel good often takes us away from the faith we ought to have. Innocence should be treasured and revered, not cast aside in order to make us feel superior.
Hollywood where children are systematically traumatized while having their innocence ripped from t and materialistic self absorption is the norm: we should make another Narnia movie

Does the world seem a bit mad right now? Perhaps even stark, raving mad? That could be a very good sign we're seeing more clearly with the eyes of faith and by the law and love of God. [The world itself boasts of its "progress" despite the pandemonium. But in truth,] what are the chances humanity has reached its zenith– that the human race has finally figured things out? Can the combination of original sin and the advances in knowledge, technology, and communications really be a cultural zenith for us right now? Without a truly moral foundation and footing, no advances in the sciences, culture, or arts will bring us closer to true peace and happiness. That could be a rather depressing thought– but only if it was left at that.
[Yes,] reflecting on [human] stupidity repeated over centuries and millennia [will understandably make us] sad. [But] reflecting on the Father's tender mercy and unceasing desire for us– all this time!– [will joyfully give us] reassuring hope.  [The truth is that,] despite the Fall, the Creator and Lover of all that is has delighted, through all human history, in letting His sinful children discover the wonders of the universe and the world He made for us. He's revealed Himself to us and [expressed] His desire for our relationship with Him as God and with each other.
Yes– we should not think we've got it all worked out, but we needn't despair. While not presuming on God's compassion and love for us, we can take heart that He knows us better than we know ourselves, and He knows what He is about.

What Every Christian Should Remember about Jeffrey Epstein and His Story
What Every Christian Should Remember about Jeffrey Epstein and His Story Hundreds of pages of documents begin to be released related to Jeffrey Epstein and those who were named in the court filings from a defamation lawsuit brought against Ghislaine Maxwell by Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre in 2015, after she branded her a liar over her claims that she was sexually abused as a minor. Over the…

It's Alright
Gary Pollard I Pt 4.12-19 is another difficult passage. God doesn’t want us to be caught off-guard when bad things happen to us because of our faith. We shouldn’t think that we’ve been intentionally singled-out. If we’re going to suffer, it should be because we’re doing what God wants. The process of judgment began for the world, and it started with the church. If we live for God, we’re going to…

My prayer is to see your face
“With your hand, ADONAI, from human beings, from people whose portion in life is this world. You fill their stomachs with your treasure, their children will be satisfied too and will leave their wealth to their little ones. But my prayer, in righteousness, is to see your face; on waking, may I be satisfied with a vision of you.”
- Tehillim (Psalms) 17:14‭-‬15 CJB, 1998
“From men with Your hand, O LORD, From men of the world, whose portion is in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your treasure; They are satisfied with children, And leave their abundance to their babes. As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.”
- Psalms 17:14‭-‬15 NASB, 1995

#DailyDevotion Do You Continually Turn From God's Ways & Then Cry Out For Help?

#DailyDevotion Do You Continually Turn From God's Ways & Then Cry Out For Help? Psalm 78 54He brought them into His holy land, to these hills His right hand had won. 55He drove out the nations before them, and gave them their land as an inheritance. He settled Israel's tribes in their tents. 56Still they tempted God and rebelled against the Most High and didn't live by His truth. 57They left Him and became traitors like their fathers, turning like a bow you can't trust. 58They made Him angry by worshiping on their high places, and made Him jealous with their idols. The LORD was faithful to His promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He settled their stiff-necked descendants in the land He promised them. He increased their number as He promised them. He fought for them, driving out the nations before them. What did the Israelites do? They didn't live by the covenant He made with them at Horeb. They worshiped in places not given to them. They made idols and worshiped them. They betrayed the trust of the LORD their God. How well are we doing living by Jesus' Sermon on the Mount and the Plain? Do we continue to follow the teachings of Jesus' apostles given us in the New Testament? Do we trust in Jesus Christ's work alone for our salvation? Do we pick up our cross and follow Him? 59God heard them and became furious. He vehemently rejected Israel 60and abandoned His home in Shiloh, the tabernacle where He lived among people. 61He let His strength be captured and His glory go into the enemies' hands. The history of Israel given in Judges is summarized by these verses and the verses that follow. How quickly do they turn aside remembering the LORD and not passing down His teachings. In turn, to call them to repentance, he let those who worshiped the same false gods they did rule over them. He even allowed His ark to be captured. Since the Israelites didn't want the LORD, He would leave them and live among the pagans. 62He let the sword kill His people and was furious with His own. 63Fire consumed their young men, and no wedding song praised their girls. 64The sword struck down their priests, and their widows couldn't even weep. The pagans among whom the Israelites lived were not all driven out at once to keep the wild animal population down. However, because the Israelites did not remain faithful to God, the LORD, He sent the pagan people to kill His own as punishment and to call the remaining peoples to repentance. Again and again, they would go through this cycle like a drunkard. They would turn to living like their pagan neighbors. God would allow the pagans to rule over them. They would repent, “If you save us, we'll never do that again.” The LORD would deliver them. How well are we doing with this in our own lives? Do we live just like our neighbors? Can they tell we are Christians by our love for one another? Do they see us living pious, peaceful and gentle lives worshiping our LORD Jesus Christ or do we live just like them? Does our faith in Christ Jesus' work alone for our salvation free us from sin and its troubles? Is our life attractive to unbelievers? Let us repent of our unfaithfulness and not return to our past sins. Jesus has freed us from slavery to sin and the fear of death. While we may bear our cross it promises joy and glory everlasting in the world to come. Let's not live short-sighted lives living only for pleasures today. We have eternity to live. Heavenly Father, give us Your Holy Spirit, that we may live godly and repentant lives now so we may enjoy a godly life and eternal pleasures from Your hand. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
