Richard Gilmore is by no means a perfect man, but my God does he love the women in his life immensely. Lorelai, Emily and Rory are his world even if he doesn't communicate that in the best way every time. In season 2 when Lorelai is helping him set up the Gilmore Group? He's so excited by Lorelai and her willingness to help him set up. He's awed by how much she knows and you can see him realizing that he doesn't really give his daughter credit as much as he should. And he's gutted when he realizes Lorelai can't stay to continue to help him. Their relationship is bumpy for a monumental amount of reasons, not the least of which being that Richard Gilmore is a man of his time. But he realizes his mistakes and he fixes them when he can. He tries so hard to not repeat his blunders with Lorelei with Rory. He's a GOOD MAN.

Something something the Diamonds abused Peridot specifically by only allowing her knowledge through her screens. She obviously really loves knowledge and learning and knowing things, but seemed completely limited in new data collection beyond her screens. This made her dependent on the Diamonds and genuinely made her believe that they were the best source for knowledge and information, the things she valued above most other aspects of life until she met Steven.

You know what makes me sad? Christopher's jealousy around Luke was ALWAYS about Lorelai and never about Rory. He never really tried to be Rory's dad, just Lorelai's husband. And you can see how sad that makes Rory especially after Gigi is born. Because then he's being someone's dad but still not really acting like she matters until they both cut him off.
