Hallmarks of the Season: Part 3
The rest of the morning was a flurry of family time. Hakoda had closed the mechanic shop he and Sokka ran for the day, and Kanna came by with a tray of baked goods she had made the night before. As promised, Katara sat with her grandmother and showed her the most recent pictures she had with Zuko. The wedding came up, of course, and Katara had to disappoint Kanna by telling her that they hadn't even decided where to get married let alone when.
"Don't wait too long to set a date," Kanna warned Katara. "That's how you end up engaged for ten years."
"We're not planning on a long engagement," Katara laughed. "We wanted to enjoy this part for a little bit and then talk about dates, but then this whole mess with the investor happened, and I don't think either of us has had the mental capacity to even think about considering wedding plans. Honestly, I'd rather just pay someone else to plan it."
"Now, where's the fun in that?" Kanna huffed.
"You know I hate planning parties," Katara said. "I'd be happy to marry Zuko at a courthouse then go out for noodles afterwards."
"No way!" Sokka exclaimed. "You're marrying a jillionaire! I expect to be served steak and top shelf liquor at your wedding!"
"Sokka, don't be crass!" Hakoda tossed a dishtowel at his son. "I need to be on Zuko's good side, so he'll put me in a nice retirement home." He winked at Katara.
"I'm starting to regret inviting Zuko," Katara grumbled. "I need you two to find some couth before he gets here."
"We will be on our best behavior for his Fieryness," Sokka promised sarcastically. "You might want to give Toph a heads up, though. You know she can smell pretentious trust fund kids a mile off." Katara reached for the dishtowel Hakoda had thrown and smacked her brother in the head with it.
"Zuko's not pretentious," she said. "He's a bit stuffy, but that's just his introversion manifesting."
"Everything is going to go fine, honey," Hakoda promised.
"Yeah, assuming he actually shows up this time," Sokka muttered.
"Sokka!" Kanna scolded him with a swat to his arm.
"What?" Sokka nursed his arm. "We're all thinking it. I just said it!" Hakoda glared at his son and motioned at Katara with his head. She looked at her brother stricken.
"He-he's been working to get this company off the ground for five years," she explained quietly. "He doesn't mean to cancel last minute, but he's been working on this for a long time."
"We understand, Kat," Hakoda said, hugging his daughter. "It was the same when I was trying to get the mechanic shop off the ground. Lot's of long nights and missed trips, but it got easier to balance work and life once we were off the ground." Sokka reached out and patted Katara's arm, looking like a chastened child.
"I was only messing with you," he said apologetically. "Honestly, Zuko seems like a great guy. I guess...I just want to know that he makes you a priority, too."
"He does," Katara insisted. "He's incredibly thoughtful. He came by my apartment last week to drop off my favorite coffee on his way to fly out for a business trip. He surprised me with a picnic dinner on the roof when we both had to work late. And not just to me that he's like that with. He works insane hours to keep the business running, but he makes sure that everyone else feels free to leave at five. The whole reason he's not here right now is because this cashflow issue is threatening this month's payroll, and he just wants to make sure everyone gets their money before the holidays.
"He does sound wonderful," Kanna said. "If you say he's worthy of you, then I will take your word. I can't wait to finally meet him in person."
The conversation drifted away from Zuko after a few more minutes to the possibility of getting together with Toph and Aang, then to Sesi's martial arts class (she insisted her aunt come see her practice). Soon the afternoon drew on, and Hakoda began to make preparations for dinner that evening, and Sokka and Katara started preparing to head for the school. Katara went up to her room to grab her purse and paused to check her messages. There was nothing from Zuko since he'd confirmed she'd made it to her father's house safely. She tried to ignore the sharp pinch of disappointment in her stomach as she sent a short message to him.
Miss you😢💖
-:-:-:-:-:- The dojo stoon on what Katara remembered being at different points in her childhood an arts and crafts shop, a music store, the headquarters of a short lived farming MLM, and an even shorter lived ballroom dancing studio. The Kyoshi School of Martial Arts had been open for a bit over two years, and the head instructor was an ex-military officer who's short stature belied her intimidating reputation. Katara could immediately tell her brother was smitten.
"Sifu Suki!" Sesi ran up to the instructor and nearly dragged to Katara. "This is my Auntie Tara! She's getting married!"
"Congratulations!" Suki said hiding a bewildered laugh. "It's so nice to finally meet the famous Katara. Your brother and niece have nothing but great things to say about you."
"You've made quite an impression on Sesi yourself," Katara said. "She couldn't wait to introduce us."
"I see!"
"I told Auntie that I wanted to be just like you and just like her," Sesi told Suki. "But she said that it's better to be just like me, even though it's okay to be..." Sesi scrunched her nose and tried to remember Katara's words. "...to be perspired by you." Suki had to hid another laugh as she patted Sesi's head.
"I think you mean inspired," she corrected Sesi. "And she's right. Being you is the absolute best thing you can grow up to be. Now, go get changed. We're starting warm ups soon." Suki spared one last smile for Sokka and Katara and went to prepare for class.
"She's cute," Katara said when Suki was far enough away. Sokka shot her an arch look.
"Should I warn Zuko he's got competition?"
"Oh, please," Katara scoffed. "Are you telling me you're not into her? You were doing that weird thing where you try not to stare but then end up staring super hard."
"Knock it off," Sokka shoved her lightly. "It's not like that. Sesi likes her, and she's been a great teacher. I...I respect her."
"Respectfully love her," Katara muttered. Sokka scowled at her, but there was no heat in it. His eyes drifted over to where Suki was passing out small wooden fans to her students, and his gaze softened. Katara nudged him and smiled knowingly.
"Seriously, I can't think about dating right now. I've got Sesi and the shop..." Sokka's voice trailed off as he tried to come up with more examples of his busyness.
"I'm not saying run off and marry her," Katara said. "You don't even have to tell Sesi that you're interested in her. I'm just saying, if you like her, see where it goes." Sokka grunted noncommittally and studiously kept his eyes away from Suki. Katara eyed her brother with concern. After a moment she poked him in the side.
"Hey, are you alright?" she asked. Sokka turned to her in surprise.
"I'm fine," he said. "Why?"
"I don't just mean right now," Katara said. "I know you're still grieving Yue, and I know that grief doesn't have a timeline, but you know that she wouldn't want you to put your life on hold out of loyalty to her. You loved her well when she was with us. It's okay to move on now." A few emotions rippled across Sokka's face, as if he were deciding whether or not to be angry with Katara. Then he let out a long breath and seemed to deflate.
"It's not just about Yue," Sokka confessed. "I miss her terribly, and sometimes I get so angry because she doesn't get to be here for...this." Sokka gestured around the room, lingering on Sesi. "It's not fair that she doesn't get to remember her mother. I don't want her to have to live through a parade of would be mothers who just... leave."
"So do what Dad did," Katara said. "Only introduce Sesi once you're sure it's going to last."
"Right," Sokka let out a bitter laugh. "Remember how that turned out?" Katara shuddered. When she was a freshman in high school and Sokka was in his junior year, Hakoda introduced them to Malina, his girlfriend of nearly a year. Malina immediately tried to take over as their mother. She was oddly intense in her insistence of reorganizing how their home was run and trying to forcibly bond with Hakoda's kids, despite him assuring her he wasn't looking for a replacement mother for them. The final straw was when she replaced a family photo with Hakoda, Kya and the children with a picture she'd forced them to pose for on a trip to an amusement park Katara and Sokka were far too old for. Hakoda never told them what he said to Malina, but they never saw her or her photos again.
"That was one time!" Katara said.
"And Dad has never introduced us to any of the three women he's dated since." Sokka folded his arms and shook his head. The class had started. Suki was guiding the kids through their warm up exercises. Every so often, Sesi would look over to make sure her father and aunt were watching. Katara would wave and motion for her to pay attention.
"You can't let that one experience color how you feel about dating," Katara told Sokka. "I don't want to push you into anything. I just want to make sure you know, dating is allowed." Sokka shrugged and huffed, but Katara could see his gaze still lingering on the pretty martial arts instructor.
-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-
"Auntie! Did you see when I knocked down the dummy?" Sesi danced excitedly, holding onto Katara's hands.
"I did!" Katara grinned at her niece. "You are getting really good!"
"You're exactly who I want on my side in a fight," Sokka said. "Go get changed. Grandad made your favorite for dinner." Sesi cheered and rushed off to the changing room. Suki walked over to Sokka and Katara.
"She really is improving fast," Suki told them. "I think she'll be ready to move up a level in a few months."
"She's going to be thrilled! And...and of course, she wouldn't be learning so quickly without having such a great teacher." Sokka's voice was just a bit too high, and his smile just a bit too wide. Katara had known her brother to be a massive flirt in his younger years, but it had been a long time since he'd asked Yue on their first date. It was clear he was out of practice. Katara smiled to herself.
"So, Suki, how long have you been in town?" she asked.
"Oh, about three years now," Suki told her. "I used to live in Kyoshi, but I was stationed not to far from here when I was in the military. I fell in love with the area, and when I got out of the service, I thought I'd try to settle here."
"Yeah, this place is really amazing," Katara agreed. "I loved growing up here. The community is really warm."
"Yeah," Suki shrugged reluctantly. "I mean, I have a great rapport with my clients, but I don't know...I feel like I haven't found my people yet." Katara clicked her tongue in sympathy.
"I know what you mean," she said. "I live in Ba Sing Se now, and it took me a while to find really close friends again. The first few years had some really lonely stretches."
"It's been really hard to feel like I've put down roots," Suki admitted. "I've been so busy with this place, that I just haven't had time. But I'd love to find people to just hang out with."
"Well, you're in luck!" Katara said. "Sokka and I are meeting up with some old friends in a few days. You should join us! Our friend owns a barcade in town, so if we ask nice, she might let us play on some of them for free." Suki's face lit up with excitement at the thought.
"The Badgermole?" she asked. "I've walked by that place so many times, and I always meant to stop in."
"Well, now you have a reason." Katara nudged Sokka forward. "I'm only in town for a few more days, but you should take Sokka's number. He can let you know all the details, and keep you looped in when other fun stuff is going on in town." A flush bloomed on Sokka's face across his nose and to his ears, but he managed a friendly smile as he put his number into Suki's phone. Suki was called away a moment later by an insistent mother who loudly demanded to know why her daughter wasn't getting Suki's undivided attention during the lesson.
"You are too meddlesome for your own good," Sokka said once she'd gone.
"What?" Katara shrugged. "Suki needs friends, and you're local!"
"I don't need you to hit on women for me." Sokka scowled down at his sister. "That was humiliating."
"Oh, please," Katara snorted. "She's coming to a casual hang out with your sister and high school friends. It's not like I asked her to marry you. And you gave her your number. Ball's in her court if she even wants to come out."
"Whatever," Sokka grumbled. Sesi emerged from the changing room and bounded across the room towards them. Sokka scooped her up and they headed for the door. Suki caught Sokka's eye and waved at him. Sokka grinned in spite of himself and waved back. Katara regarded her brother with a knowing gleam in her eyes, which Sokka did his best not to notice.
"I think the phrase you're looking for is thank you," she said out the side of her mouth.

Y/n
Babe🥰✨: Hey baby are you busy today? I wanted to pick you up and go somewhere ☺️
Y/n: I have a collab I have to record in the studio right now but afterwards we can get together. Stop by in like a couple hours okay?
Babe🥰✨: Okay sounds good 👌🏻
I scroll through my phone waiting for the artist who I'm supposed to be collaborating with to come into the studio. "Uh I apologize for being late love, my driver got lost on the way here" I look up to see Zayn Malik smiling at me and I return the smile. "Oh that's okay, I haven't been waiting long. Welcome to Korea!" I get up and hug him. "Thanks love, Gigi told me to give you her love and you should be getting something in the mail from her."
"Aww that's so sweet I'll have to call her later to catch up! So are you ready to make another hit together?"
~
Zayn and I walk out the building together to part ways. "Ah I'm so excited for this album to drop, anyways hopefully your stay here won't be too bad. Give Khai and Gigi hugs and kisses from me okay?" He gives me a hug and nods. "Of course, next time you're in NY hit us up okay?" A familiar car pulls up and rolls down the window. "Aye Jagi get in." I wave goodbye to Zayn before running and getting into my beloved's car.
"Hey baby how was your day?" He pecks me on the lips. "It was good...you got a guest behind you. Is that...Zayn?" I turn around smiling and I roll down my window. "Hey do you need a ride?" "Yeah do you mind? My driver is lost somewhere and I just really want to get back to my hotel and get a bite to eat." I turn to Seonghwa and he sighs. "Come on we'll give you a ride before we go out to eat." Zayn nods and gets in the back before Seonghwa pulls off.
~
"This is really nice 여보, you always find the nicest of restaurants." I smile at my boyfriend as he looks over the menu. "Of course, anything for you baby. Do you see anything you want?" I nod showing him something I saw on the menu. "I'm in between that and this steak dinner...how about we share and half it?" "Okay that works. Let's call over the waiter." I hit the little buzzer signaling the waiter to the table.
"Hi my name is Mark and I'll be your server this evening. What can I get the beautiful lady tonight?" He smiles almost flirtatiously but I brush it off. "I'll get the Lemon Butter Salmon with the roasted green beans and to drink I'd like a frozen margarita." Mark nods writing it down. "A good choice, I actually really enjoy the salmon I think you'd like it. If you get dessert I'd definitely get bingsu, it's my favorite and good for sharing." Seonghwa gives him a bored look. "Well I would like the steak and lobster dinner with a loaded baked potato."
"Uh huh I'll have that right out." He doesn't even look at my fuming boyfriend while he speaks. I can tell Seonghwa is getting annoyed. "Thank you." Mark smiles at me before running off to the kitchen. "I should report him to a manager, being all unprofessional and ignoring me." I nod putting my one of my hands on his. "I agree that was highly unprofessional...you wouldn't happen to be jealous would you?" He turns away but I can see his ears are red. "Of course not, why would I be jealous?" I shrug. "I don't know maybe because he was only talking to me. You told me before you don't like when guys only pay attention to me. He probably knows who I am, how many brown girls like me are running around making a name for themselves in the music industry here? Not many and I just happen to be very popular mostly because I'm with AOMG."
"I know...he probably is a fan of yours. Alright I'll let it slide just for you."
~
"Wow I'm so glad we split dinner, that was sooo good. Ah do you want dessert? I was thinking going by the street food market so we can walk around some." Seonghwa holds my hand as he drives. "Well I was going to take you back to my place because I have something set up for you." I raise an eyebrow. "Does it involve mochi ice cream?" He chuckles and squeezes my hand. "Of course I always keep that in stock just for you." I nod in agreement. "Okay I'll go home with you."
He places a blindfold loosely around my eyes. "Okay don't peek..." "I'm not peeking...wait why is Jay here?" "How did you know he was here?" I shrug. "He has a distinct smell, he uses a different cologne than you and I smell it. Simon is here too." There's a silence for a moment. "Huh I don't know how I feel about you knowing their scents but...you can take off your blindfold now baby." I take it off to see Seonghwa's living room decorated in hearts and roses. Simon was holding a cake with mochi on the top and words that say Happy Anniversary. Jay is holding a bouquet of my favorite flowers smiling.
"Wow omg...wait um Seonghwa our anniversary isn't until Sunday. My gift for you is back at my house..." He hugs me. "I know but I wanted to do something before. Do you like the cake?" I nod and I kiss him on his cheek. "Can I have a mochi off the top?" He chuckles and nods. "Go ahead baby." I happily take the one in the center and when I bite into it my teeth hit something hard. "Owww...huh what's this?" Jay and Simon look at each other. I look to see my teeth hit a rather big diamond ring.
My heart drops into my stomach as I piece everything together. I look at Seonghwa who is now down on one knee smiling up at me. "자기야 I love you, you're my best friend and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. 3 years isn't enough, I want to have forever. So will you do me the honor of marrying me?" I nod wiping tears. "Yes of course I'll marry you!!" He takes the ring out of the mochi and cleans it off before sliding it on my left ring finger.
Bonus ending:
"Congratulations Y/n! I'm so happy for you!" Jay hugs me. "Thanks Jay! I'm happy too, obviously." Simon hugs me next but I notice his hug is lasting longer than usual. "Let's see if this sets him off. He's been tense all day." He whispers in my ear. I notice Seonghwa staring at us blankly. Simon let's go smiling. "Hey Y/n/n come sit with us on the couch." Jay says pulling me over to the couch. He pulls me into his lap and my eyes widen.
"야! 죽을래?! (Yah! Do you want to die!?)" Seonghwa pulls me kinda roughly off Jay's lap and glare at him. "That's my fiancé, the only lap she sits on is mine. I've been letting this slide ALL day but nah I'm done. Y/n baby I love you but you need to stop being so god dang attractive, all these guys want you. Zayn, that waiter, Jay...Simon....the list goes on. Maybe I should just show them your mine."
He roughly pulls me into a kiss and I don't want to say that I'm swooning but hey this is my favorite thing. I don't mind my man a little...jealous.
A/n: Thank you for reading! Requests are open! Send an ask🥰

Day 18 Delayed
After not one, but two pastel de natas before my dance class at the gym, and a homemade sardine tosta I walked 5+ kms to my third language lesson via Clarice, in Alvor, for a proper latte ☕️
I tried to video the garbage collection system near my apartment but failed in my timing. The collectors were also looking at me strangely as I held my phone up to film!
I did get a better shot of the cute dog that looks out over the neighbourhood with interest. I had a brief chat with the owner to confirm he's only two. Noticeably, there are lots of dogs, as well as learner drivers and pastelarias.
After the fun language lesson, practising conversation starters and replies, I had an interesting conversation with a retired fireman, Gary from Ireland 😉 I noticed Gary at the first lesson. He seemed broodish, but I think he may be an introvert, if that's possible for an Irish man? Although my depth of experience with Irish men is limited to one!!! (Yes kids, I know he had a problem with alcohol and you thought he was gay, BUT he did make great duck fat baked potatoes!) Today Gary came with his lesson notes neatly stored in plastic sleeves in a folder, but he said "que interessante" with as much enthusiasm as a wet fish. Rebecca asked him to be a bit more animated. I think his interest must have peaked in me when he heard me saying, in terrible portuguese "sou impragada do estado" which translates to "I am imprisoned by the State". I'll need to check this with Rebecca at the next lesson, I'm sure there's a better way to say "public servant". I'm also "dona de casa" which means investment property owner, but it also means housewife!
Gary wanted to give me lots of advice about superannuation. I’m sure he was well intentioned but I feel quite informed 😂 Sadly the teacher is taking a break next week so I’ll miss Gary, but I’ll ask around, apparently he is a member of a walking group and I need to do some more walking 😜
I’m now getting ready to have dinner with Rosie at Restaurante F in Praia da Rocha. She’s messaged me this afternoon to invite me to a book launch tomorrow night at Irish Rovers, que interessante!! She also said “We will also go tonight to listen to the band after dinner” Stay tuned….
So dinner at Restaurante F was pleasant. I had high expectations (from the number of Facebook comments after I posted the request, “recommendations for best restaurant with ocean views and I don't care for steak!) and also when I saw the selection of breads being wheeled around on a trolley and a separate aperitif menu. The bread (cornbread, pumpkin bread and plain) and two butters were delicious, the shared prawns ok and my first cataplana of octopus, clams and sweet potato (Algarve stew cooked in copper or stainless steel pot) tasty, rounded out with the shared crème brûlée and bottle of rosé, not cheap comparatively at €50 each. But, the company was definitely worth it. Rosie regaled me with fabulous stories about her relationships and the number of suitors she has at the moment. And as a supplier of gummies to some of her cruise tour members (it’s legal in Canada)😂 She certainly lives an exciting semi retired solo life.
We then went to Irish Rovers, and yes that same bartender made a beeline for Rosie and started his lines on me. I reminded him that he'd already made me a cosmo last week and I'd heard his BS! Later I did give him a hard time about how long he'd been using those lines on women at this pub (six years!) and had it ever worked (no) and I suggested it might be time to come up with a new strategy. The band were pretty dreadful, actually it was mostly the lead singer that did have Rosie and I in stitches. His voice was not loud enough to be heard over the instruments (probably for the best), and I couldn't work out if he was Irish, Portuguese or another nationality. Rosie said he looked 100! Are white singlets on tattooed older lead covers' singers still a thing? And he was drinking red wine. It was too many contradictions for me to manage, given I don't go out to these kind of venues at all. I did say to Rosie twice that a strong female lead would fix this situation. Rosie knows the owners, Martin and Jenny. They weren't pub owners in Ireland, but have owned Irish Rovers for 10 years and according to Rosie it's the most successful pub in the Algarve. Martin was in the band on keyboard (and I thought he could actually sing) and Jenny was behind the bar. At one point she quickly came over with three shot glasses of some creamy beverage and said a hurried hello, downed the shot, and went back to the bar. Apparently the book launch is for a Portuguese poet that Jenny doesn't know, but she wanted to be supportive, stay tuned...
Rosie did tell me about a fantastic Thai massage she had, so I've tracked down the salon and the therapist and booked myself in for this afternoon.

Magical Recipes; how to approach an established recipe as a Kitchen Witch
Tumblr media
Art by forestfolke on Deviant Art I think one of the most confusing things for new, or even experienced, kitchen witches is how to expand their recipe catalogue for their practice. A lot of new kitchen witches think you need to follow a recipe that has been written special for Witchy Cooking. That the regular recipes they find or use just won't have any magical purpose. But that's just not the case.
You don't need to buy special cook books with recipes exclusively for Kitchen Witches. You can take any recipe that already exists and apply it to your wants or needs. To help explain this process, I'm going to take a recipe I found online then reverse engineer it into a Kitchen Witch Recipe.
The Recipe
My Partner often donates blood, so eating foods that keep his Iron up is important to us. But I also want this dish to be emotionally satisfying Vs just eating a Steak, which neither of us find particularly appealing. I thought I'd try a Cottage Pie (also called Shepperd's Pie) because I want to find a new recipe that will help use up ingredients. Don't get me wrong, soups are awesome; but I tend to go a little light on the meat/alternatives. I tend to keep a good supply of ground meat in the freezer, so know I'll have most of the key stuff.
So I'm starting with this recipe since I don't have my own Cottage Pie recipe. Here are the Ingredients: Filling
1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb ground sausage (I use Jimmy Dean pork sausage)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 small yellow onion , chopped
2 ribs celery , chopped
1-2 carrots , chopped (about 1 cup)
3  cloves garlic , minced
1/4  cup  all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups low-sodium beef broth
2  tablespoons  tomato paste
1  cube beef bouillon
2  tablespoons  Worcestershire sauce
1  teaspoon  fresh thyme , chopped (or ¼ teaspoon dried thyme)
1 teaspoon fresh rosemary , chopped (or ¼ teaspoon dried rosemary)
2  bay leaves
½ cup frozen corn
½ cup frozen peas
Topping
2 1/2 pounds Russet potatoes , Yukon gold or russet potatoes
¼ cup  sour cream
½ cup milk
4  tablespoons butter
salt and pepper , to taste
½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese , for topping
So let's start with the topping since it has less ingredients to worry about. For those unfamiliar with cottage pie, the base of the pie is mostly meat and Veggies, and then it's topped with some mashed potatoes before baking. It's common to just use leftover mashed potatoes. So, I'll just use my mashed potato and cauli recipe. In short, it's half potato and half cauliflower with roast garlic and seasonings. Both Potatoes and Cauliflower have protective properties. Since this is the protective top layer of the Pie, I thought the symbolism carried itself further. The Cauliflower will also work well together with the Garlic to Banish any negativity from the pie, as well as from those who consume it.
Now let's break down the filling. Starting with the largest Ingredients. Ground Beef and Ground Sausage. Ground meats in general are fantastic for grounding energy. I'll probably sub the ground beef for whatever ground meat I have on hand, so the grounding aspect is what I'll focus on for now. Potatoes are also good for grounding. This is over all is going to be a very down to earth, hearty meal. Next, the vegetables. Onion, Celery, Carrots, Peas, and Corn. Corn is not something I use on the regular, but it's has a good use in Kitchen Magic as a power multiplier. Similar to Rice. Carrots have heath and energy properties, something I want in a dish for improving Iron Levels. Though I never particularly enjoyed peas, I'll use them for their health and abundance benefit. Green Peas are also high in Iron. Celery is great ingredient to add to a dish to add lasting happiness and satisfaction. Which I defiantly want so when the dish is consumed, you don't feel disappointed. Onion will add onto the Protection and Health. But Onion also has good cleansing properties, so I have the habit of adding it to my pan first to cleanse my cooking station. I'll probably cook some or all of the onion with the meat. Now the Seasonings. Not everything used in your cooking needs to have a magical purpose. It can just be there to enhance the taste of your food. I use Worcestershire sauce often in my cooking with no thought to it's magical abilities. I use it all the time when I want to add some extra umami or savory flavour. But there are some things we can add to help enhance the magic. Thyme, Rosemary, and Bay. All three of these herbs are good for health and healing. I can feed this to my SO before a donation to make sure his Iron is up. Then I can feed it to them after when their body is recuperating. Though I may forgo the Bay leaf. I tend to worry I'll leave it in my food when it's not supposed to be eaten XD But that said, I think I'll add a few of my own. Marjoram seems like it will go well in this, which will add to the Happiness and Comfort of my meal. I wanna add some Basil and Cayenne to this. The Basil I'm hoping will help stop long term fatigue, so my SO's mind is not affected by the donation. Cayenne for a blast of extra energy. I'll also add some extra Garlic and Parsley. I'll also make a few other personal tweaks like swapping the Flour for Cornstarch. I prefer using corn starch in my sauces, and I already have corn as an ingredient anyway, so it should mesh together better on their property levels. Cooking/Assembling Now that I have the magical properties of all my ingredients established, I simply need to assemble them according to the recipe directions. The only difference is, when I add something to the dish, I know what I'm adding not only on a Mundane level, but also the magic properties of the food. I'm adding ground meat to ground my dish and the people consuming it. I add Celery to help the food be emotionally satisfying. I'll add peas to enhance health and healing. Ect.
Also note, you don't need to do as big of a dissection every time you want to cook a recipe as a Kitchen Witch. If you come across an ingredient or two you are familiar with the magic properties for (Or the ingredient just has a spiritual meaning to you personally) You can add it to your meal with that meaning in mind. Like adding a little honey to your tea to sweeten and brighten your day. Also note, most ingredients have multiple magical uses. Just as they have multiple culinary uses. You can add honey to tea for happiness, or may may choose to add it help heal and get over a cold you have. Or you can add it for both reasons! Or neither reason; maybe you just want some honey. You are the Castor, the Decider, the Kitchen Witch!
Eat well and be well 💜💜💜

I is for Intrigued
The Jungle Fury Alphabet of Fluff
The only way Casey could accurately describe his new master was "he is intriguing".
He didn't know if Theo and Lily felt the same way, but Casey was more intrigued by RJ with every passing day.
Most people thought RJ was usually calm and collected but Casey thought the exact opposite. RJ was never "collected". On the contrary, he expressed his emotions fully. If he was happy, he was smiling and talking animatedly, if he was sad, he could sulk in silence for days. If he felt inspired, then every single brain cell was occupied with whatever had inspired him, and if he was relaxing, his whole being, mind, body, and soul, was relaxing.
RJ was obviously capable of great violence, physical and verbal, but he seemed to never use it unless it really was the last thing he could do. RJ would rather engage in a sarcastic insults contest with Dai Shi than in a physical fight, but if Dai Shi wanted to kill his dad, then RJ had a physical problem with that. And said physical problem had a very physical solution.
He also behaved like a ditz, like he was hardly more than a stoned surfer dude who had opened a pizza parlor but at the same time was able to create very complex technology that applied context the sole name of gave Casey headaches.
He loved cooking pizza but not eating it. Well, he did, he loved eating pizza, he loved eating a very unhealthy diet, but he would feel much more satisfied with a good steak and a beer.
And speaking of steak, RJ also seemed to be against animal cruelty when it came to sports or entertainment but had no problem eating them. They had thought he was a vegetarian when they first met him and he had laughed them off as he sat down to eat his steak.
Right now, RJ was baking. He was holding the electric mixer into the bowl with one hand, holding the bowl with the other. His gaze was into the mixture and his attention seemed to be completely into the mix.
"Hey," Casey said, walking up to him. "Do you need any help?"
"Only with eating it later," RJ replied with a smile. "Anything I can do for you?"
"I have a question. Don't try to guess the answer again."
"Ask away."
"Would you like to become a ranger with us?"
RJ didn't answer immediately. He gave his words some thoughts and this was obvious to Casey because he was pouting and looking upwards and to the side, the way he always did when he was thinking.
"It's not that I wouldn't want to be a ranger," he started, his gaze back on the cake mix. "I'd love to be a Power Ranger. But I think if I ever do join you, it'd have to be at the right time, and because you really need me. Not want me. Need me."
"Why?" Casey asked, sitting across from RJ.
"Because it is important that you go through and win all these previous fights. These fights are part of your training. If I join you because you want me there, not need me, then I would help you easily win fights you may have found challenging but not impossible without me and that would, in the long run, make you weaker. If we, as a team, get too overpowered, we will get compliant, and that will herald our defeat. We need to always be just enough. Not too much, just enough. Does that make sense?"
"Yeah, actually," Casey, purposely keeping a disconcerted expression on his face.
"Then why do you still look confused?"
"I'm just not used to you making sense, that's all. I need some time to get used to it."
"Very funny," RJ said, looking around the table. "Very funny," he repeated, grabbing some flour and throwing it at Casey's face. The student laughed and RJ joined him.
"I promised that if I ever consider the climb is too steep and you need my help, I will help you."
Casey looked at his master as he smiled and returned to his cake. He was so intrigued by RJ, because he had so many fake faces, so many things people wrongly assumed about him that were never corrected.
RJ was a living wisp of smoke and only sometimes could anyone see his true shape for a second.
So intriguing.

GET TO KNOW THE MUN.
respond to the prompts out of character!
what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have?  I love women? Basically I just love all my female canons and my female OCs are just the Lexie Extended Universe (my mind). But Rama Wolfbluff is my long-standing D&D character and I love her dearly - more so as I play as her in BG3.
is there anything you don’t like to write?   I guess just anything getting into 'dead dove don't eat' territory; it's not for me, and some subjects imo really shouldn't be roleplayed on this platform e.g. S.A. etc.
is there anything you really enjoy writing?  Romance. I eat that shit UP!!! Whether it's slow burn or something quick from chemistry. I love it.
how do you come up with headcanons?   Whatever comes to mind, or if there's a prompt on the dash. It helps if I'm playing an OC (like Rama) in a game like BG3 where I can think on what her decisions would be/what dialogue she would take.
do you write in silence or do you play music?  Music!!! 95% of the time, anyway. I usually get inspiration from one song and keep it on repeat while I do a single thread.
do you plan your replies or wing them?   I usually have a general idea of what I want to respond with / what I want to happen. But in terms of drafting out ideas like I would an essay? no, lmao.
do you enjoy shipping?    Absolutely!!! I lean mostly to f/f ships of course, but I have a few m/f pairings that I enjoy (Ashley/Owen, Miranda/Aiden, Ana/Reinhardt, Nikita/Vernon/Job, to name a few!).
what’s your alias/name?   Lexie - it's just a nickname variation of my government name, lmao.
age?  30!!!
birthday?  Feb 5!
favorite color?  Red!
favorite song?  Landslide - Fleetwood Mac, probably.
last movie you watched?  Drive Away Dolls in theaters w my gf. We're going to see Love Lies Bleeding tomorrow!!!! gay movies!!
last show you watched?  The Sopranos
last song you listened to?  Fleetwood Mac - Silver Springs - May 1997 live performance where Stevie Nicks stares straight into Lindsey Buckingham's soul.
favorite food?  Love me the classic medium rare steak and baked potato, served with asparagus type meal.
favorite season?  summer!
do you have a tumblr best friend?  I certainly have friends that I've known for a very long time (some for 11-12 years!!), so I'd say definitely a few!
tagged by :  No one, I stole it.  tagging  :  you!

Answering these Oddly Specific Questions!
4. Mythical Creatures you think/believe are real?
Yeah I'm really boring in this department. I generally don't believe in mythical creatures beyond the "this is what people used to explain things and how they described weird animals and/or to make for a fun story" scope. Like sea serpents are oar fish, mermaids are manatees, dinosaur fossils were turned into dragons and giants. I mean there's so many fukin weird and fascinating animals already on this planet! Half of them don't even sound real to begin with when you start describing them.
So yeah. We might not have dragons or faries. But have you seen some of the things that live in the deep ocean? Might as well be dragons and faries!
20. Favorite Disney Princess Movie?
My first thought was a tie between Mulan and Hercules. But if we wanna get pedantic, I don't think either Meg or Mulan are Technically princesses. So going by either born into royalty or married royalty metric... i think I'll say Little Mermaid. Gosh i love that movie and the soundtrack. But if you ask me any other day i know my answer will change. I have a very soft spot for all the 90s-00s disney movies.
Actually, no wait. I thought about it more.
Since Disney owns Star Wars that officially makes Princess Leia a Disney Princess by the born into royalty metric. I'm saying Star Wars is my fav! (Don't ask me to pick 1 of the movies as a Fav fav. I can't 😂)
28. Last meal on Earth?
Oh man, assuming that like materials and time and physical ability weren't a factor. I'd probably do like a buffet of all my favorite things so i could get a bite of everything i love before I go. So like something family-nostalgia like kielbasa and city chicken and pierogis made like my grandma does. Pork and apple pie the way my mom makes it. Just a whole selection of pasta and sauces. Probably a pizza or two in there. A steak cooked perfectly with a loaded baked potato. Soups! So many soups.
And for dessert... hmmm there's gotta be some ice creams, chocolate chip cookies the way I make them, an apple pie, and chocolate cheesecake.
(Okay I'm starving and waiting for my dinner to cook and akswering this did not make me any less hungry lmao)

I don't know your OCs, but I'd like to meet them! Pick one and put a link? ^_^
🍄🌲
🍄: What are your OCs favourite snacks? Their favourite comfort food which always cheers them up when they’re down? Favourite meal to make? Do they enjoy baking and cooking and are they any good in the kitchen?
So I have a variety of sonas for a variety of uses, but the main one is named after me: Link!
Tumblr media
(art by Toothaches @ DA & TH)
Like me, he's a big sucker for Italian Four-Cheese Cheezits, but will also binge eat any cheezits you have. Don't trust him with them. He will eat them. Cinnamon rolls and iced chai lattes are his other big comfort go-tos, which his partners will make/get for him whenever he seems like he needs a pick-me-up!
His favorite meal is probably a good steak with mashed potatoes or pot roast (NO MUSHROOMS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD), but he can't cook worth shit. This isn't necessarily because he isn't capable, but he has an intense fear of fire and extreme heat that keeps him from being much use in a lot of recipes. If it can be made in the microwave, though, he can do it and make it a bomb-ass meal. Generally, though, he hates cooking and he hates baking more. XD
===
🌲: How deeply does your OC feel? Are they typically empathetic or do they have a hard time connecting with others in this way? What are they like when offering support and comfort to someone they care for?
Let's talk about Jay!
Tumblr media
(art by @eldritch-goth)
Her feelings are muted due to her creation as a homunculus, meaning artifical humanoid in this case, but they still run far deeper than anyone (including her creator) anticipated. As an allegory for my autism, she doesn't read people very well at first, but once she starts to get to know someone, she picks up on their tells and becomes very empathetic very fast. Making people happy is a huge part of her personality and an activity that brings her personal joy while also being something she excels at with the people she's closest to.
When offering support or comfort, her go-to is sharing her favorite food: candy. As part of her creation, Jay doesn't need to eat, but she found out in the early 20th century that she adored candies, specifically hard or chewy ones (like any hard candy, or starburst). She and her siblings typically carry around a pocket-to-bagful of candy to share with Jay and Jay's friends/loved ones. If candy fails, as it sometimes does, cuddles are the next best bet. Jay is extremely physically affectionate! <3
Thank you for the ask!!!

So I am a fairly active anon on here but I’m a little nervous to just claim which one I am but I am a tall bitch, talking 5’10 for a lady but I am hefty (talking 300) and of course you don’t have to change yourself to be attractive I know that, but I’ve always wanted to be physically fit and to a degree I am, I could leg press 500 lbs however, they say you can’t gain muscle while cutting or at least that’s my understanding? Or that I need to eat a shit ton of more food in order to gain muscle, but if I’m already heavy do I still need to bulk?
Let me tell you something. I've been asking myself that question for years and you talk to a million fucking people and everyone's got different versions.
So ill tell you my experience and my opinion and you can go from there
I needed to drop some weight, j had 7kgs of weight gain after getting into a relationship. I was training like a fucking machine but i just couldn't drop the weight.
It was the diet.
I was eating well but I was eating way too much. I was eating carbs at the wrong times and skipping meals that I shouldn't have skipped. Snacking on too much shit like the amount that I'd eat in a day was spectacular.
Now I have 2 slices of toast with 200 grams of baked beans one of those small cans. And a coffee. Like a tall coffee
Lunch I'll either have low carb chicken wraps or chicken and veg/salad
Dinner is always like 300 grams of steak and veg
Then I have tea and 4 cubes of dark chocolate later on. Maybe a stringers cheese stick.
I needed to eat as much carbs as I could manage in the morning and cut them off at night. It jump started my metabolism and gave me energy throughout the day. I dropped 7kgs in fat and gained muscle mass.
I'm losing weight and gaining mass. The amount of protein that I eat fuels the muscles. And the fact that I'm carb loading in the mornings too. My body's getting rid of excess fat now.
I train less than I did when I had all that weight on and I've been losing weight and gaining muscle steadily.
You can do both. Your eating is the biggest factor. Diet is 70% training is 30%
Set a reasonable meal plan and stick for it for 3 weeks with consistent training and I promise you you'll feel fitter and stronger than ever.
NOT A DIET
A meal plan. You're altering how you eat and maintaining a reasonable and consistent lifestyle.
I literally buy the steak from Woolworth and frozen vegetables that you chuck in the microwave. Takes me 8 minutes to cook the steak.
Also I have a cheat day that consists of me just eating what I feel like once a week.

The Lemon Legacy, Chapter 2: Meet The Neighbors
Tumblr media
Ophelia needs to gain the mischief skill so she can start swiping, and since the Welcome Wagon never came, she decides to introduce herself to the neighbors. Maybe some brownies will make them warm up to her so they'll be less annoyed by her shenanigans.
... too bad Ophelia's never baked a day in her life. Girly pop, don't look at me like that, you're the one making them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, they're nothing special but surely they'll appreciate the gesture. Time to meet the BFF Household!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ophelia: Here you go. They should still be fresh!
Summer: Brownies? Thank you, they... Oh. You used a premade mix, huh?
Ophelia: ...You can tell just by looking?
Summer: I should probably mention I'm in the culinary career. Thanks, though, I guess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, that stings. Ophelia really did try her best with those brownies. She's the new neighbor, SHE should be the one getting baked goods anyway! Maybe she'll hit it off better with Summer's roommates...
Tumblr media
At least Travis is nicer. He even made mushroom steaks, which Summer was quick to nom, lol
Travis: So you're the new entertainer at the Blue Velvet, right?
Ophelia: How'd you know?
Travis: We're no Windenburg, word travels fast in this little town. We'll have to see you perform!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After chatting (and Ophelia getting some mischievous interactions in), Liberty finally joins the group.
Liberty: I'm Liberty, but everyone calls me Libby. Thanks for the brownies, they smell great!
Well, these two check out. Travis and Libby's valuables are safe for now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ophelia tries to give herself a pep talk to convince herself to swipe something from Summer's room, but she just can't bring herself to do it... yet. She needs to start smaller...
Tumblr media
Ophelia steps outside for some fresh air when she smells something... The mushroom steaks that Travis made, which Summer seemed to love. They were too busy goofing off inside, they've completely forgotten about them. Surely no one would notice...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Ophelia rejoins them, she seems way more energetic than before. Travis chalks it up to getting over the nerves that come with meeting new people.
Ophelia: Thanks so much for being so welcoming! We'll all have to hang out again soon.
Travis: Yeah... I'd like that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Travis and Ophelia are really hitting it off. They don't even notice Summer and Libby left the convo.
Tumblr media
Summer: I know that face. I give it a week before he asks her out.
Libby: Oh. You think he likes her?
Summer: Travis likes any woman that pays attention to him.
Libby: Fair.
Tumblr media
Ophelia says her goodbyes to the ladies and goes back to Travis.
Ophelia: I have to get ready for work but hopefully I'll see you guys soon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Travis: You know where we live. *hugs*
Ophelia: Oh, you're a hugger, okay.
Libby goes back to her bedroom. No reason.

I've got 4 recipes hereeeee
Are you telling me a mixed vegetables fried this rice
Get your vegetables. I used frozen vegetables like a loser but any vegetables oughtta work. Steamed broccoli would be good. Green beans, carrots, and corn was what I used and it slapped.
Make some rice (boil water, add about half as much rice with the understanding that rice grows, simmer for for 10-15 minutes or until it's about as soft as you want it LOOK AT ME: POKE IT WITH A SPOON DO NOT TOUCH THE BOILING RICE WITH YOUR FINGER, fluff and serve)
Butter a frying pan and heat it
Put the rice and veg in the frying pan and let them heat up for a short while. They'll sound pretty when it's ready.
Then crack in an egg.
And scramble it.
I always make my fried rice pretty soft cooked but you can get it crispy if so desired
Easy on the soy sauce. Use sesame seed oil too.
In total, including clean up and buffer time it takes about an hour, but it could take longer or shorter depending on how fast you cook.
Boujee botato burrito
This one's stupid
But it tastes GOOD
Prepare some steak fries however you like to prepare stake fries. I deep fry and my mama bakes them. Air fryer, pan fried, cooked over an open flame idc.
Get a tortilla. Not a tiny one either, we're working with steak fries here.
Here me out. I know this is stupid but AMERICAN CHEESE is actually best in this case. It's got a good texture. And juuuust enough flavor to compliment and give the burrito a little grounding without becoming a main aspect of the dish.
So put your tortilla on your Large Heating Surface Of Choice, I use a grill but whatevers big enough, a frying pan would work, and toast it and melt the cheese a little.
Then put on your fries.
Then, and I need a citation for this because I do not know the exact combination of herbs but use Cajun seasoning. Look up badia cajun seasoning and use that. Or season to taste, you want a slightly sweet and spicy blend, kinda like the seasoning on a barbecue chip but more Green and Yellow
Then top it with romaine lettuce and wrap it.
Or other lettuce or maybe spinach, but you don't want to overload the flavor.
This one takes much less time, the longest part is cooking the fries, I'd say about 20 minutes total, even with clean up.
It tastes.. in the same ballpark as a gyro. Not the same at all, but like if a gyro had a cousin from Weeki Wochi Springs (and... that's pretty accurate actually. As someone who is intimately familiar with the Really Sweaty parts of florida and is reasonably familiar with our next door flood buddy (louisianna) and the food from both places. Look if you've ever been to Natchitoches, LA and try food from there you'll know what I mean)
Thor's comfort food
That's a fucking stupid name sorry
It's soup. So we're clear.
This is borderline stew, and is something to make to feed you for several days, it's very hearty.
And this is a leftover soup! But it doesn't have to be you can make it fresh if you want to.
But chop up some fries and chicken (I used leftover steak fries and chicken tenders, which have a story behind them but not for here, I'm not that southern)
Put them in a deep pot with some butter to start getting them warm. The chicken needs to be all the way cooked beforehand, this is where the leftover part comes in handy. The steak fries less so but yk
When they're warm and popping a little, add a can of cream of chicken soup, milk, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, SALT, chili seasoning, a shake of Tony chachere's, (that's pronounced SaShaRay's if you wanna ask for it at a grocery store), and a dash of honey mustard.
Let it warm and mingle on high heat until it tastes super good.
Put aside and make some rice (sea above). Yellow or brown rice would be SO GOOD with this, especially yellow rice. I only had white on hand tho loll
Mix the rice into the soup, and heat it up again to serving temp.
I'd serve it with some nutty bread. Not pumpernickel or white bread. Rye would be good. Or even just some standard wheat bread. Maybe some cheddar biscuits or cornbread lol.
This one takes much longer just by nature, I'd give it an hour to an hour and a half, clean up included.
This one doesn't have a name right now lol
Goat cheese
Blueberries
Honey
Rosemary if you're a homestuck (or have good taste in herbs)
Put it in a (oven safe) bowl or even straight on some thick bread (foccacia would work well. That's fecasha if you've never seen the word written out. Horse divorce).
Put it in the oven, or better, a toaster oven (not a microwave)
Heat it until the berries and goat cheese get soft
Blend it all together
Serve..
It takes maybe 15mins

Mystery Meal, Or How to Win Over Your Bosses With Cooking
After yet another visit from the idiots at the Chaos Insurgency, I decide my bosses deserve a nice dinner not from the Site Cafeteria. Several hours and a ton of dishes later, it's time to butter up the bosses, figuratively speaking.
Another day, another Insurgency raid. This one was rough. We lost three MTF teams, Dr. Iceberg took a bullet to the shoulder, thankfully it just grazed him. Dr. Gears had to neutralize half a squad. I myself had a few more tallymarks on my hit list. Clef, unsurprisingly, had 10 down himself. In the chaos, even 106 got a few whacks in. I swear he was grinning as he dragged off his last victim. After all that, and treating the grumpiest patient ever, I decide to listen to both my darling and Dr. Glass, and do something not work related. Knowing how hard my bosses and teammates work... I think a nice meal is in order. Off to Site Command's break room I go, the kitchen there outclassed anything us grunts see.
I check the stockpile, gather ingredients. Before I start cooking, I take precautions to be as undisturbed as possible, sticking a "Closed for testing by order of O5. Apologies for the inconvenience." sign on the outer door. It won't stop Dr. Clef, 963, or Dr. Gears, but I shouldn't be too bothered. I get to work. As 90% of Site Command are male, looks like steaks are on the menu. Hmm. I see potatoes, fresh green beans, porchini mushrooms, and a few other things. Perfect. Dr. Clef is always complaining about the overabundance of soup... I pull this off and he'll definitely have something to chew on. Knowing good risotto takes time, that's the first task. I'm just toasting the rice when a familiar three eyed face pops in the door.
"Something smells good. What's cooking, Most Favorite Intern?"
"Sorry, but since you're not on O5, I can't tell you. Let's just call it a nice surprise after a day from Helheim." Clef laughs.
"And this is why you're everyone's favorite intern. You're full of unexpected but delightful surprises. I knew you baked, but I was not expecting to get both a sharpshooter and a chef in one adorable package. Need a hand?"
"You cooking? No offense but it's bound to be anomalously terrible. It's well known you cannot cook."
"Got me there. Fine. I'll just go annoy Iceberg, and forget I saw this. Oh, and for the record... Dr. Gears prefers his steak rare. Good call on the risotto." We share a laugh, and I get back to cooking. After an hour or so, dinner is ready. Everything looks perfect. I pack everything up, and head to the conference room. After setting the table, I reach for the intercom button.
"Attention, please. Would the members of Site Command report to Conference Room Beta? I have a nice little surprise for all of you. Come quickly and come hungry."
Site Command files in, and everybody sits.
"Everybody here? Good. You have a domed plate before you. Would you kindly remove the domes?" Oohs and also.
"Rabbit... do we want to know what's this all about?" Dr. Iceberg asks.
"Well... you all work so hard, trying to keep everybody safe. Thought I'd show a little gratitude to my bosses. So, you all wind up with a free steak dinner."
"Steak? This a 'thank you' or a bribe, Bunny?" Dr. Gears teases.
"Bit of column A, bit of column B. All I want in exchange is a new shotgun. 4 gauge."
Dr. Talloran, after a bite of sirloin, responds first. "Pending approval from Dr. Gears... deal. Pass the A-1, please?"

Get To Know You Tag Meme
Thanks for the tag, @thegreatobsesso!
Relationship Status: *crickets* None, I am very single and happy that way. I'm aro/ace, and that's lucky, really, because the amount of effort that seems to go into even a semi-successful relationship...I don't wanna.
Favorite Color: There are very few colors I don't like. Color combinations maybe, but actual colors are hard to narrow down. Purple, blue and red are maybe tied for first place? But green and yellow are so nice...
Favorite Food: That's even harder than colors! My favorite fruit right now is mango? They tend to cycle, I eat a lot of something until I'm sick of it and then I don't touch it for awhile.
Song Stuck in My Head: That rarely happens to me, maybe because if I'm not actively listening to something or busy doing something that requires silence, I have something instrumental playing in the background, generally just something off youtube.
Last Thing You Googled: "Would a Nurse Practitioner want a Pre-Med degree?" Writing research for the F&F fanfiction that is going to be my nanowrimo. There were a lot of different opinions on that, btw.
Time: 10:05 AM
Dream Trip: I really don't know, maybe somewhere picturesque in Europe? If I didn't get seasick I'd say a cruise that stopped in a variety of places, but I do, and also you hear about cruise ships not being very clean a lot.
Last Book You Enjoyed Reading: Time is a Mother by Ocean Vuong. It was so good. If you like poetry at all, you should check it out.
Favorite Thing to Cook/Bake: I've been using my grill a lot since our weather is weirdly good (in the 80's in the middle of October in Oregon is...odd), so right now I've been doing a lot of grilled peppers and onions with sausages or steak. There is something satisfying about cooking on a grill compared to a stove.
Favorite Craft to do in Free Time: My hands don't work quite right, some problems with small motor control and hand eye coordination that video games and having to learn how to light a lighter when I was a horrible stoner teenager helped a lot with (it took me like a year to learn how to light a lighter, and it was difficult for longer, my fingers just did not want to move like that), but crafting isn't really something I do because I get frustrated.
Most Niche Dislike: I really, really hate the smell of Campbell's tomato soup, the condensed kind. It was my sister's favorite food in the entire world when we were kids and the smell would fill up the house and make me wanna gag. It smells like they coated the tomatoes in metal. I like tomato bisque soup and really any kind of tomato soup that isn't that just fine.
Opinions On Circuses: If it were possible for the animals in a circus to truly be well cared for and have a good quality of life, that'd be great, but it's pretty impossible. The one time I went to a circus as a kid, it was okay, but then my mom took us over to ride the elephants...there was something very depressing about it, and we left without riding anything.
Do You Have Any Sense Of Direction: God, no. It's gotten slightly better over the years, but that just means that the trick of 'I think I should go right, 99% chance then that it's actually left' that I used as a kid no longer works.
I'm going to tag @writingpotato07, @blind-the-winds @charlottewritings @tinyblips and anyone else who might want to join in!

(Am I slightly embarrassed by the fact that I haven't read a 'new' book in a while - damn right I am- (🔔Shame🔔) I've been writing self indulgent nonsense/reading too much on AO3; don't judge me!)
Rules: tag 10 people you want to get to know better!
Relationship Status: Married w. Small Children
Favorite Color: Teal & Rose Gold
Favorite Food: Unagi Rolls
Song Stuck in your Head: Girl Who Cried Wolf by Numblife - it came up on a shuffle search. It's not one I'd use with my story (Actually seems more like a Terry Phelps song to me), but if I think about it at all, it sticks around for a few additional hours after.
Last Think You Googled: Average size of a Blue Whale. My son wanted to know how many living rooms long it is.
Time: 1:22pm (but started at 9:34 am, and done in very small portions since then)
Dream Trip: I used to say places that were beautiful to Scuba dive; I want to see a shark. But with how I've been feeling lately, don't know if I have the energy for all that. Is there somewhere I could go that doesn't have constantly assaulting sounds and my muscles won't hurt? A magical fantasy land spa?
Last Book you Read: Re-read Stephen King's Stand - character research, dammit!
Last Book you Enjoyed Reading: the Stand? ...feels like a trick question...
Last Book you Hated Reading: I have to do "Continuing Education" for my job. It's bullshit, and setup to just get your money because they know it's a requirement. Every course is just the same information copy and pasted poorly in a different order. I'd rather beat my head against a brick wall.
:: Bonus ::
Favorite Thing to Cook/Bake: I like doing main course things. Whole turkeys/chickens, steaks... I have a Honey Garlic Salmon that turns out well (but my family hates fish so I don't get to cook that one much...)
Favorite Craft to do in your Free Time: I like doing a fair share of creative things (after a liberal amount of vape hits). Writing has been taking all spare time recently, but I like sketching on my tablet and painting too. And I tend to make a big to-do over Halloween - pumpkin carving, costumes, effects make-up...
Most Niche Dislike: I mean, the big ones -bigotry, discrimination, bullying- should be a given. But if we're looking for stupid odd things I dislike, (which I'm pretty sure is the point), I cannot stand the sound of an empty mechanical pencil scraping against paper. I have no further explaination.
Opinion on the Circus: Never really been to one... I went to fairs cause they're local and less documented animal cruelty (except for the fish you can win in the ping pong ball toss games - those poor fuckers don't stand a chance.) At least there's cotton candy, I guess?
Do You Have a Sense of Direction: I am the navigator on all road trips, but that's because my partner refuses to give up driving, and I can work the apps better. I'm not a fan, and have to Dramamine up. I'm not sure what I'd be like without a GPS tbh...
As for tagging - I am but a small blog that has procrastinated a long time on this. 😬 I'm pretty sure I saw pretty much all of my mutuals already posting theirs. If you haven't and want to - rock on. I tag you, and tag me back - I'd love to hear your answers!!
