In all my years of reading fan fiction, I’ve never liked Y/N stories. And I’ve never really put my finger on why.

But I realize now that it’s because 2nd person POV is right there!!!!! If you want to insert yourself into a fictional world, it is so much easier and less jarring in 2nd person. But NOOOOOO, y’all gotta put it in third person and then I have to see “Y/N” which totally ruins the immersion of a story and I always just end up reading it as YN and not inserting my name in it. So now the story is about some fucker with Elon Musk’s kid’s name and not me!

And for those of you saying “but what if another character is saying your name, what do you do then????” Uhhhhh, get creative?!?! There is plenty of media where people don’t have names. Nobody in Fleabag has a name! The dude in Tenet doesn’t have a name!

Also, please, for the love of God, can we start using the Oxford comma again before I go even more insane!
