"Dude, I said no. She'll be so mad at me if I do"

"It's for our funds" Johnny insists

"But-"

"No buts, once we reach like $100 I swear I'll cut the line. I have faith in you"

At this point Jaehyun can't say anything that would stop Johnny. He's thinking about bringing in his last card but he'll save it for the last minute so for now he says yes.

Come the day of the festival, word got around that Jaehyun was going to do the date booth so ofcourse the line was long by the time he arrived there. Johnny right in front calling even more students to join while Haechan stands beside him collecting payments.

"Oh here's our star of the day. Okay so who's up first?" Johnny was answered with tens, maybe 20 or more screams from the crowd. Jaehyun shoots a shy smile before going behind the booth.

It's only the fifth girl before he heard the shouting from somewhere in the back.

"JOHNNY J. SUH I SWEAR TO GOD YOU BETTER RUN" Jaehyun hears you before he could see you. He then looks at Johnny, seeing the nervous look on his face and an even more scared Haechan beside him.

"You're on your own, hyung" Haechan mumbles, hiding behind the 6 foot tall guy.

The girls at the very front and the one Jaehyun was just talking to turns their heads towards you, seeing what the commotion is all about.

"What the heck is this?" you ask, eyes blazing.

"A booth"

You stare down the guy taller than you, giving him a chance to change his answer. "Oh come on, it's for our frat funds. And Jaehyun said yes" Johnny says

"Well" Jaehyun interferes making the three of you look over at him, Johnny shoots him a look while you glare at him. He knows the anger isn't really directed towards him, but you can be very scary when you want to be.

"I doubt that, this whole thing has yours and yours name written all over it" you point at the double AA and triple AAA brothers

"How much do you need to raise?" you ask "Like hundred dollars" Haechan answers

You pull something from your back pocket, a crisp hundred bill before putting it inside the jar Haechan was holding.

"There, done. Show's over people. You, let's go"

"Yes ma'am" Jaehyun gets up from his seat, not needing to be told twice. Following behind you.

When you were a few booths away, he catches up with you. Pulling you back by you arm.

"You're not really mad at me, are you?" he asks

"Depends"

"Hey, I swear I told Johnny no. I was gonna tell you about it but honestly I just wanted to watch you rip at him" he tells you with a smile, his dimples showing.

Just like that you feel some of the annoyance and anger melting away. When you don't say anything back, Jaehyun takes this chance to step closer to you. Holding both of your hands in his.

"Don't be mad, please?"

You roll your eyes at him, all is forgiven already.

"I'll buy you ice cream?"

"WIth two scoops?"

He smiles, intertwining your fingers together before leading you towards the ice cream stand. "Two scoops of cookie dough with extra chocolate drizzle just for you"

"You can't still be mad at me"

Currently you, Jaehyun and Johnny are sitting outside a cafe just to hang out. Even though Johnny gives you headaches half of the time, he is a very good friend of yours.

"You'll be surprised with how long I can hold a grudge" you answer back

"I gave your boyfriend back"

"Exactly, he's mine so stop using him for profits" you bite back, Jaehyun listens quietly beside you. His arm resting behind your chair.

"We got that pingpong table from the car wash benefit we did last summer, we're trying to get a pinball machine next" Johnny says

You do remember that frat event. You've never seen so many girls and some guys line up for a carwash done by a bunch of frat boys. Yuta definitely put on a show, Jungwoo also had fun being the adrenaline junkie that he is following whatever Yuta was doing. Mark and Jeno were more shy about it but had one of the longest line.

And Jaehyun, well safe to say you made him wash your car a few times until the line behind you got tired of waiting for their turn. You were debating whether to cut their water supply line but you know Taeyong would scold you so you didn't.

"Go find someone else" you grumble

"Okay then let me ask you, let's say you're in a cafe inside with another friend and this other friend got cold. Jaehyun's the only one who got a jacket, is it okay if he lends her his jacket?" he asks you,

Jaehyun smirks from beside you, waiting for your answer.

"Do you enjoy having your head attached to your neck?" you ask Johnny

"Come on, will you?"

"Of course not! Did your mom not raise you to always bring a jacket in case it gets cold?" you sassily ask back

"I don't see you bringing a jacket around" Johnny counters

"That's cause I have a Jaehyun. She can get her own boyfriend to borrow her jacket from, but until then have fun being a human popsicle"

Jaehyun smiles, his hand absentminded drawing circles on your back as he listens to you.

It's endearing to him really. To some it might sound like you're too much, too jealous, maybe even insecure but Jaehyun knows it's the opposite. And if he's being honest, he's way worse than you. If sees a guy even looking at you for a second too long he's right behind you hovering, a silent warning to back off.

When in public together, if he's not holding you he'll always be a step away. At parties he would be attached at the hip with you, even going to the bathroom to guard the door for you.

If positions were switched he'd be livid too if he sees you in a dating booth smiling at a random dude. Only he can make you smile, only he can make you blush and laugh and moan.

Shaking his thoughts away, he looks over at you still arguing with Johnny. Noticing the breeze got a bit colder since the sun is setting, he shrugs his jacket off to put it around you

"Oh my god, I cannot with you two" Johnny says as he watches the two of you. Slipping your arms through the sleeves, immediately smelling Jaehyun's perfume around you.

"Like I said, I have a Jaehyun"

It's finally the end of a long week, you invited Jaehyun over your place to cook dinner and have an indoor date to end your week together.

The two of you love cooking together, when you first started dating you used to cook for him and bring him packed lunches. Then one time he invited you over to cook dinner for you. At some point cooking became part of date night and it's now one of your favorite things to do with him.

While Jaehyun stirs the noodles on the pan, he feels you hug him from behind. You stand on your tiptoe to kiss him on the jaw, earning a smile from your boyfriend.

When it's just the two of you, you're more clingy towards him. In contrast with your strong personality around his friends, you're more soft spoken and gentle when it's just him around.

"Your birthday is coming up, what do you want to do?" you ask him

"Do you want to go on a date? It's valentines"

You shook your head, stepping to the side to look at him. Jaehyun peaks down at you, "You don't want to go out?"

"If that's what you want, we can celebrate valentines some other day. I want to celebrate your birthday" you tell him.

Jaehyun smiles at you, rubbing his nose against yours before giving your lips a quick peck. He can't get too distracted since he's still cooking. He burnt something before when the two of you forgot about the ramen you were cooking and got busy making out on the kitchen counter.

In his defense he craved you more than the ramen.

"Well if that's the case. What I want for my birthday is to go on a date with my favorite girl"

You smile at him, "Anywhere or is there somewhere you want to go to?"

"Can I plan it?"

"But it's your birthday"

"And I really want to take you out on a date, give me your day and consider that the best gift you could give me"

You look at him, he looks back at you waiting for you to fold. When you roll your eyes at him he knew he won.

"Fine but I'm getting you another gift, you can't say no!"

The two of you enjoy dinner, cleaning up afterwards before putting on a movie you're not really going to watch.

You'll give it to him, a record time of 4 minutes after the movie starts before he pulled you on his lap to kiss you breathless.

"That's a record" you mumble when the two of you broke apart to catch your breath

"What?" he asked, still dazed

"You made it past the opening credits" you giggle, tangling your hands behind his neck to pull him closer to you until he's a breath away.

"I was trying to see if you really wanted to watch the movie" he smirks, holding your hips down against his

"Liar, you would've distracted me whether I wanted to watch it or not"

"Okay you got me there, but what can I do. I just want to kiss my girlfriend all night and all over. Am I not allowed to do that?" He smiles before capturing your lips again, then he's leaving a trail of kisses along your skin. From your lips to your cheeks to your jaw down your neck. His hands now under your shirt to grip your waist.

"Yuno Jeong, believe me when I say this you are allowed to do all of that to me whatever it is you have in mind right now"

"You, you're all that is in my mind right now"

The sexualisation of Mikoto, stalking, and how the fandom is repeating this.

CW: Stalking, sexual harassment, fanservice, murder

I’ve been thinking a lot about Double’s thumbnail, and especially the stalking theory. And if you think about it a lot basically everything fits up and that his victim was likely his stalker. Although a lot about what happened I never really have seen discussion on the why or how it’s been happening, so I just want to give my thoughts and theories on this all before Double.

The fanservice in MeMe:

The fanservice in MeMe has always felt really off to me. Milgram never has any fanservice-y stuff, minus Yuno in Tear Drop, but it’s only just her revealing outfit and nothing to do with strange camera angles or whatnot, and it’s very important to her character. For me and what I’ve think the consensus in the fandom has been, is it’s nothing more than that. That the fanservice is only there to appeal to thirsty fans or whatever. But I’ve been thinking a lot, and with the music videos extracted from prisoners minds, everything has a meaning in one way or the other. So for the creators to just throw a bunch of fanservice scenes in MeMe with no meaning apart from just plain fanservice feels really counter intuitive to the whole point of the MVs. And especially how this has never happened before makes it really strange to me. And with this idea in mind and going back to the stalking theory I mentioned earlier, I think it’s disgustingly clear what has happened to Mikoto.

Mikoto being watched:

I think what’s going on is that Mikoto was stalked for sexual reasons. The constant scenes of him in embarrassing moments (taking of his shirt, having a shower, having a bath) is what the stalker has been seeing and this subconsciously put itself into MeMe from Mikoto’s POV. Camera imagery in MeMe is very prevalent, from at the beginning him grabbing the camera and at the end him picking it up and punching it. I think this is supposed to represent him realising he’s being stalked and trying to hunt down who’s been doing it, and the destruction of the camera at the end to represent him killing the person.

Also around the middle of the song, we see security cam footage of him entering his apartment and crying on his couch, with Mikoto hyperventilating and gasping in the background. I feel like with everything I’ve said before this scene makes it extremely clear, that someone put up a bunch of camera around his house to catch him in those moments, if we’re taking that scene literally.

Then it cuts to him laughing at the screen in darkness, and the aforementioned fanservice scene right after this sequence of events really makes things scary to what was happening in his house. And also like I said before about the hyperventilating during this scene. I could mean multiple things such as him having a panic attack, being actually attacked or worse.

And the imagery of being watched doesn’t stop at just the camera stuff. At the beginning of MeMe in the scene at the train station, the camera moves around from behind a wall to reveal Mikoto sitting there holding a bat, like someone is watching him directly. To further back this up there’s a vignette around the edge of the camera and wee see it blink, like from a POV shot. And after the blink Mikoto disappears, and then we see him outside swinging a bat at the POV (just want to note this is outside and is probably in a different place than the train station, but I don’t know what to make of that right now, and how also the vignette I pointed out before isn’t present here). Then it cuts back to the scene in the train station, now with Mikoto holding a bat and walking towards someone on the ground, attacking them. Noticeably the vignette is still here in this scene, so the person Mikoto was attacking likely wasn’t his stalker, perhaps he just thought they were.

Wait I suddenly just got a theory from this. I just mentioned how the vignette in the scene I just mentioned likely means that Mikoto attacked someone else and the stalker was watching on. Me and basically everyone else has assumed that guy was his victim, but then what about the stalker? I’ve always strongly believed that Mikoto only killed one person but now I’m just starting to doubt that. If MeMe is to be taken in chronological order in this part, he probably killed that guy then realised that he was continuing being stalked. And as I said at the beginning of my analysis I mentioned that Mikoto punching the camera at the end could be representative of him killing the stalker and ending it (also to mention he gets the death card right before hand). And I didn’t think of it when I wrote that but what if he did actually kill multiple people in an attempt to kill his stalker. Hmm.

And going back to what I was talking about before, he probably entered his apartment afterwards and switched to Bluekoto after it was assumed everything was safe now. (Just saying I’m using Mikoto interchangeably to refer to all of the alters as it’s not clear who’s doing what, but this takes the theory of that blue was the murderer and not the other/s into account, because there’s a part of me that feels it wasn’t him attacking those people as red/green has a strong desire to protect blue and hide him from the traumatic events taking place).

I feel like I’ve gone way off track with what I’ve been saying here because while writing this I just keep noticing more and more stuff to write down and I just thought of someone thing again.

Every time it appears that Mikoto killed someone (the train scene, the garbage scene although the bag doesn’t look like a human body just saying), it cuts to a fanservice-y scene right after, maybe implying that the person he killed wasn’t the stalker, and he’s still being watched afterwards. Although this makes the bath scene kinda out of place as it doesn’t take place after a murder I think, and someone mentioned it was before the shower scene which kinda debunks this but I just wanted to mention this because why not.

Mikoto’s mindscape in MeMe:

Another thing I’ve been thinking about a lot is every character’s “mindscapes” as I call them. Yuno has an empty pink void with a tower, Fuuta has a fantasy land, Mahiru has a room inside a birdcage ect. And all of these places represent an aspect of their characters. Yuno’s representing her feelings of emptiness, Fuuta feeling that everything he’s doing is for justice and that he’s a cool hero, Mahiru being trapped and sheltered in an ideal concept of love and stuff like that. I’m going to make a theory on this in the future as it’s very interesting to me but Mikoto’s mindscape is always something that’s confused me.

Mikoto’s mindscape is a parallel of his apartment. Down to the couches, tables and everything, but lacking the bookcase and tv being buried in the water for whatever reason.

(Also I just noticed but there’s a blue thing behind the couch that Mikoto laid his head down on before which could be a bed or whatever. But in the mindscape and this other shot we don’t see it???)

(Actually maybe we do if we squint, oh well)

Okay, okay back to what I was actually going to say. The furniture from the apartment appearing in the mindscape makes sense, but what about everything else? The broken, tiled walls, the mirror, how everything is covered in a thin layer of water, the clear blue sky. There’s a bunch of this stuff I could analyse in my future post about mindscapes but I’ll just say the stuff that relates to what I was talking about earlier. But to say it right now, I think all that other stuff is supposed to be the bathroom we see him in.

Notice here the tiles are exactly the same, and we even see the same mirror he looks at himself in, in real life then Mikoto in the mindscape.

Also to point out how the Mikoto we see looking into the mirror here is wearing a sleeve and likely in the mindscape and as someone mentioned, since the ahoge is backwards it’s likely a reflection. Although it’s strange that it has the same green filter both ways.

After this we see bluekoto (presumably) fall backwards into the water. And another strange thing I noticed is that this mirror is behind the couch, but when he falls down the couch is tipped over.

Don’t know what it make of this but again I’m just constantly pointing stuff out I notice as writing this.

So basically I think the mindscape is a mix of the living room and the bathroom. The furniture from the living room and the water, mirror and tiles from the bathroom. But this makes things confusing, why the bathroom? Why would Mikoto project imagery of his bathroom into his own mindscape? This brings me to what I was saying before. The walls in the mindscape are completely collapsed, providing no closure or privacy to this “room”. The sky is also out, so his mindscape feels very exposed. And what I said earlier about my staking theory. It’s likely that someone placed cameras up in/around his bathroom to record him naked, a complete breach of privacy and that’s why this mindscape is so exposed and has elements from there. Even in this world that he created, he still doesn’t feel safe at all.

The audience and the repeating of Mikoto’s trauma:

Basically to sum it up from what I’ve said. Mikoto was being stalked and sexualised by someone. Cameras were placed up around his house to record him in embarrassing situations and he figured out, and attempted to kill the stalker.

But here’s one thing, that story we likely see in MeMe is happening again. But with the audience.

When MeMe came out everyone went ballistic. Lots of people were very surprised in how violent it was, how compared to the calm preview we saw it instantly started off with death metal and destroyed every idea we had about him, and kept switching between being calm and violent. But what I want to walk about right now is the reaction to the fanservice.

As we all know, when MeMe released a horde of thirsty tiktokers came over and started absolutely obsessing over Mikoto and all the fanservice scenes we see. Things got so out of control that people tried to vote him innocent just because he was hot and even jackalope bought this up. But thinking about this, it’s getting dangerously close to what I think happened in his story. Being filmed in embarrassing moments without consent, and having people obsess and sexualise you for that. The music videos are representative of the prisoner’s minds, and in no way would have Mikoto known how he was shown naked and shirtless for a huge chunk of MeMe. Same as him being stalked and recorded in his story if I’m right.

The fandom here is doing exactly what his perpetrator did to him down to a T. It’s almost like what happened with Amane when people tried to reverse her brainwashing by showing her tough love by not forgiving her, exactly like what the cult did to her to try and make her obey them more. This thing is happening to Mikoto as well as Amane and repeating their traumas. And also to mention how Mikoto has DID which is a result of repeated childhood abuse so it’s likely this has been happening to him alot and just can’t escape from this reality. And for the alters to take in all the trauma and leave the host blissfully unaware of everything’s that’s happening.

This brings into account how the guilty prisoners can hear the voices of the audience judging them. Fuuta completely broke down as he was constantly harassed with strange voices judging him and denying his actions. And he’s mentioned a lot of times how he can’t stand this feeling of being watched and this manifests through the eyes in Backdraft. And with Mikoto from everything I’ve been saying before it’s very likely he has trauma from this. And now feeling like he’s being watched and hearing the voices of the audience, who we know constantly sexualises him. It’s likely he’ll have to relive his trauma once again that he thought he finally escaped…

Conclusion / TL;DR

To sum this whole theory up I believe that fanservice in MeMe actually has importance besides just fanservice. And it’s likely Mikoto was being stalked by someone and recorded in those situations, and he ended up hunting the person down and killing them. And now because of the audience’s constant thirsting over him and how the guilty prisoners can hear everything we say about them, Mikoto will have to relive his suffering again.

Other things I’d like to briefly mention but didn’t have any space to put in, Is how since Mikoto rides a bike instead of a train to work as he said but we see lots of train imagery. And I think what happened is that he was probably being harassed on the train and switched to going to work alone. And the thumbnail in Double we see him looking depressed, on a train surrounded by destroyed mannequins.

Tell me more about the idea that muu is lying and not actually rich please. Ive only ever seen one other person consider that before but they never elaborated + changed their mind post INMF so im really curious. Like what do you think supports it?

im so sorry this took me a few days, work tends to drain me a lot more than id like haha

but i would be more than happy to elaborate!

unfortunately a few of my claims are based off of evidence/supportive pieces that are in a discord server i no longer have access to, so please forgive me

to start off, it was pointed out to me at one point that muu goes to a more expensive private school, though there are grants and scholarships that allow those without the proper funding to attend these schools regardless of their financial status (i.e. haruhi in ouran high school host club). i believe muu is a very intelligent young girl who is capable of earning one of these scholarships easily

muu also has a recurring theme of "foreigner in a place that is new and scary to her" her being a blonde-haired light-eyed half-french, lesbian GNC-girl in a private school filled with dark-haired dark-eyed japanese straight feminine girls. muu is the kind of person who likely feels totally outcast by her peers.

as well, taking a peek at this conversation in after pain:

with a very rough translation (i am not proficient in japanese, but this is the gist of the conversation)

it should be noted that muu's friends "A-" and "Sayu" appear to be talking about muu as if she is not present in the conversation, and their tone is almost mocking. muu retorts by claiming she has plenty more, and that her lipstick (which they are likely making fun of her for it being a cheap brand, though im not sure about this detail) is just an extra she had on hand. she gets defensive, and is likely lying to protect her "rich girl who has everything" image.

i would also like to point out that muu seems to have gotten nothing in return for her lipstick- and was likely lending it to her friend with no expectation. muu acts like she isnt a giving person, but genuinely seems to be thoughtful and generous towards those she cares about. this can also be seen with muu giving haruka "hand-me-down" hair clips. its a small gesture, but haruka wears and appreciates them- they keep his uncut hair out of his eyes, and its a small piece of her that he can wear. its a thoughtful gift

and secondly... doesnt anybody else think that its weird that weve seen NOTHING about her home life? with other prisoners, we see at least two aspects of their lives, if not more. haruka with his house v. the forest. yuno in the car, on the stairs, in the brothel-room, on dates. fuuta in the tunnel, the arcade, on the basketball court. shidou in his house, hospital, greenhouse. mahiru in the forest, her house, several pictures of her on outings in TIHTBILWY. kazui in his house and the bar, on the altar. amane in her house, on the street, though MAGIC primarily takes place in her "inner world". mikoto in his home and train station. kotoko in the warehouse, a bar, on the streets etc.

muu's videos take place entirely in her school. even her inner-world with the bright white walls and floors, where herself and her peers are bugs- its still her mental depiction of school. her home life is totally void in her videos. why? sure, it may not be important to her murder- but maybe, its more important than what we see in after pain and inmf

did you know that most bullies use bullying as a way to cope with lack of control in their lives? that bullies most often face harrassment at home, and that school is their only escape from abuse? those who bully their peers often mirror their own parents' actions towards them. school is likely the only place where muu has any sense of control in her life. yes, its bad that she bullied her peers, but she is a child who has no proper outlet for the pain that she faces

(i also believe that her hourglass imagery lends to a cycle of violence- that muu was likely bullied, became the bully, and lost her status only to get bullied once more)

but im going on a tangent

unfortunately at this point i am running out of steam and good examples to lend to why i believe muu is poor (please, if anyone else has any evidence to back this up, please do add on to this post! i love to hear the community's thoughts!)

but for one last, small point. let's take a look at muu's lunch. a simple bento

this bento is very small (a side note: i am also of the opinion that muu struggles with an ED) and it consists of a few simple ingredients.

a leaf of lettuce, cherry tomatoes, rice, a small amount of sauce, a single hot dog cut in the shape of an octopus, and what appears to be a hunk of protein, like chicken

well, thats not a lot of food. certainly nothing high-quality or expensive. lets take a look at some school lunches in japan. lets search up "学校べんと" "gakkou bento" "school bento" and look at the images

muu's lunch certainly doesnt look all that filling. it most certainly does not look bougie and expensive

edit: i would also like to note that she parallels shidou as a partner prisoner. both feature the concept of lying and upholding a good image of oneself

not sure if i have talked about this before but i also really hate how gorons are treated in totk

they are one of my fav and i know they are unpopular and were always kinda slot into the "big fat stupid rock people" role, but i do think totk is one of or the worst case yet; all regions get some life threatening event (ignoring how stupid it is to put the issues you need to solve in the exact same spots as in botw with most changes being also reversible so the actual changes to the environment of the map are largely some small rocks sprinkled about) and they get .. drugs (haha)

like i dont wanna downplay anything but their problem being that they are obsessed with eating (>_>) some drugged rock that makes them mean and lazy (even if the reason is fine ... if i remember right and didnt make up that they had to dig elsewhere for food bc of death mountain losing its lava flow, the execution is my problem -like the vast majority of this game is a ok to great idea with passable to horrible execution of it) and arent even a danger to you (which i thought at first when you approach goronia the normal path and two gorons start to walk towards you if you come near saying creepy shit- i thought they are gonna attack me or lure me into a trap but again .. only to find them wanting me to pay to be let through (i think??) and all other drugged ones are largely just ... eating or lying around ........

like it would have been cool if that drugged rock stuff made them actually agressive, like the friendly easy going rock people being turned into something akin to a starved animal after eating poison bc they were at risk of starving sounds alot more .. impactful and scary (even if it would still be about food, which idk about you but the only kind of fatter npcs, even if non human, being made all about food is .. hm, aside from other possibly bad implications from this, but im trying to roll with the idea of it)

and then poor yuno being put in a stupid (stereotypical?) wrestler outfit and hes LITERALLY being mindcontrolled is so ...... ugh (again, idea is ok but- you get it) and then him being told by two CHILDREN that that obviously not zelda might not be zelda and it not only being the only time that idea is openly said until its "revealed" that hhhwhat?? it was a fake one?? in the mid battle of the "story" and he doesnt even believe it (both bc haha hes stupid and cant understand such a thing and also link not being able to tell anyone ... even his friends ....... ) is just so disrespectful, its ok not to be the smartest guy in the room (tho in totk pretty much anyone is made so much dumber for no reason...) but it being so clearly the gorons that get treated like this just annoys me so much, you know no one of the other races would be treated like that

(not to reach a little but it also plays into how koga is portrayed, like i love him to death and there are things that largely the gameplay only implies of him not being that incompetent, but hes clearly meant to be laughing material, the boss of the band of 'evil' assassins being lazy, incompetent and 'childish' is funny right?? and although i hc that the either super thin or super beefed up appearance of yiga members are just an appearance like their disguises of normal people to seem more unified and less indentifyable- that is still only a hc and then koga being the only character that is visibly fatter (aside from ... the gorons and .. king dorephan??) it puts a pebble more onto the pile of pebbles of little annoyances)

also yuno saying, post mid "story" battle, that no one actually knows anything about ganondorf aside from him being evil and it going complete ingored and never mentioned again feels like the type of thing a games does when they are critized for soemthing and instead of changing it they put a line in the game essentially saying "yeah we know but we are not gonna do aynthing about it lol" (like thinking of the line ashe from league of legends, whos design has been critized alot bc shes running around in a stupid tiny dress in the snow lands of their world, got when her dialog was updated that made her say sth like "yes im wearing a little dress in the forever winter land, deal with it lol" which perhaps was supposed to be a joke but it just feels like a "lol we know, fuck you")

The Idol MV in general is absolutely befuckened with imagery I could spend days dissecting but I think the one that makes me the most Actively Insane, especially in the wake of 131 and 137 is this:

To the best of my knowledge this is basically the one and only time in the entirely of Oshi no Ko that we have gotten this close to overt Ai fanservice. The only other times I can think of are the split second acknowledgement of The Existence Of Her Boobs in volume/episode 1 but they go by so fast and are framed in such a comedic, even matter-of-fact way that it's hard to read them as particularly titillating (heh). This is very interesting given that the entire foundation the series is built on is (as I've said before) the friction between idol culture's fantasies of pure virgin girls and the reality of Ai as a person who has sexual desires and agency.

By contrast, this is overtly, effusively titillating (heh). It's drawn very much like typical anime fanservice with a focus on emphasizing the softness of her body and especially her breasts with how they're squished up against her arm. And yet… it's ALSO framed in an incredibly ominous light. She's backlit which casts most of her body in shadow and her hands are framing her face in a way that is clearly intentionally reminiscent of the yandere trance/Yuno Gasai pose. And she's layered with yellow caution tape that implores the viewer to KEEP OUT. Everything about this is so implicitly threatening and intimidating, at least in the framing.

This is the one singular time in all of Oshi no Ko that Ai is framed in such an explicitly sexual light — the one and only time she is shown to us as an adult woman who might have sexual ideas — and everything about the imagery and presentation of it screams that this is BAD and SCARY and WRONG. KEEP OUT.

Which is the entire point, isn't it? The idea of Ai Hoshino just existing as an adult woman with sexual agency is a threat to the existence of the pure and perfect idol, Ai. That's why she had to be destroyed.

I've said this off tumblr as a joke but I am becoming increasingly more serious in my belief that healthy and loving sex with a person who cares about her would fix so many of the things wrong with Ai's brain. So much of the self hate and anxiety that spurs her self destructive behavior is tangled up with internalized slut shaming and fucked up ideas about sex and sexuality enforced on her by idolhood and purity culture as a whole. Having good sex with a person who loves her, who lets her be dirty and greedy and self indulgent in something Bad and Wrong for an idol to do and accepts and loves her as she is regardless… well, if nothing else, I think it would calm her down a little. get that dick girl!!!!!!!

Hiya anon! Of course you can, although I only do 3 characters for HC requests I went ahead and did Luck too since they were so short, and I hope you enjoy 🥰!

Yami:

• Yami was already awake when you leaned over to shake him. He felt you tossing and turning and wasn’t sure if you were trying to get comfortable or if you were having a bad dream. So when you woke him up because you couldn’t fall back asleep he knew it was the latter.

• He sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes before he asked if you wanted to talk about it or if you wanted something calming to drink. He wanted to try and comfort you but wasn’t sure how.

• You leaned against his chest and just asked if he would hold you for a while, and that if it was really okay for you to tell him about the dream, he nodded and held you tightly and listened as you explained the dream to him.

• He rubbed your arms soothingly as you quietly told him about the dream you had. He didn’t know you were prone to nightmares, especially when you were stressed out.

• Finally, as your story came to an end. He heard your voice slur and your head snuggled into his broad chest. He looked down and saw you had fallen asleep. He chuckled before he kissed the top of your head and moved further down into bed so you could both fall back asleep in each other's arms.

Yuno:

• He awoke with a start as he felt someone shaking his shoulder. He blinked a few times and realized that you two had fallen asleep in the library again. He looked over and saw the person waking him up was you.

• Yuno would ask if everything was alright, and when you told him that you couldn’t fall back asleep after waking up due to a loud noise Yuno would nod before getting up and leaving the room.

• After a few minutes he would return with a cup of calming tea. The two of you would sit there and drink as you told him about the noise and that you were scared the Golden Dawn was under attack again.

• Yuno quietly assured you that he wouldn’t let that happen ever again and that you would be safe. You would nod before resting your head against his shoulder.

• Soon, due to the tea and Yuno’s calming voice and sweet reassurances, you fell back asleep and Yuno chuckled and rested his head atop of yours and fell asleep also. The next morning the Golden Dawn found you two in the same exact spot and couldn’t help but tease you both after you woke up.

Asta:

• It took him a little while to wake up, after all he had been training all day to try and get stronger. But eventually he did wake up and was worried when he saw it was you that was waking him up.

• He’d ask what was wrong and if something happened. You’d tell him that nothing happened and that you just couldn’t go back to sleep.

• So Asta would nod and clear the sleep from his eyes before asking if you needed anything. He wasn’t the best at making tea or hot chocolate, but he would try for you!

• But instead you said you were fine with just talking, so that’s what you two did. You talked, and talked, and talked. About everything and anything. You laughed and giggled.

• Eventually you noticed Asta trying desperately to fight the sleep that wanted to over take him and so you laid your head on his shoulder and closed your eyes. Signaling to him that it was okay to fall asleep. Asta nodded and closed his eyes, you giggled as you heard him snoring softly before you two fell asleep.

Luck:

• Luck, like Yuno, awoke with a start when you suddenly shook his shoulder. He jumped up and was ready to fight, causing you to jump back in surprise.

• When he saw it was just you he calmed down and asked what was going on and why weren’t you asleep yet. You explained to him that you were asleep but woke up and now you couldn’t go back to sleep.

• Luck would nod in understanding before asking if you wanted to spar a few times and see if that made you tired again. You frowned a bit but agreed to a small sparring session, maybe the workout would make you tired.

• So you two went outside and sparred, you both fought a few matches before you grew tired. You both sat down and talked, about anything and everything. About Magna annoying Luck, and how you couldn’t wait for your next mission.

• Finally before you both knew it your eyes grew heavy and sleep overtook you. Luck fell asleep with his head on your shoulder and you had your head leaned up against the tree that was behind your back. You both awoke the next morning to Magna and Zora laughing and teasing you both.

The Milgram crew at theme parks:

Haruka: Really wants one of the stuffed animal carnival prizes but can't win one. Loves the Ferris wheel. Eats so much cotton candy.

Yuno: LOVES roller coasters and scary rides.

Fuuta: Going on all the roller coasters with Yuno.

Muu: Goes on the Ferris wheel with Haruka. Gets some kind of fancy ice cream treat.

Shidou: Making sure everyone else wears sunscreen/stays hydrated/doesn't overeat. Wishes his kids were there :(

Mahiru: LOVES the romantic little boat rides. Convinces Shidou to go on one with her.

Kazui: Rides the carousel. This is canon.

Amane: Acts like she doesn't want to be there. Is REALLY tempted by the flying swings ride. And by the ice cream. Will check out a petting zoo if they have one.

Mikoto: Is REALLY good at the carnival games. Wins a prize for everyone in the group.

Kotoko: Always on the lookout for evildoers who must be stopped. One of the staff calls security because she looks suspicious.

Milgram’s second trial is starting soon and they updated their official website with new voicelines, so I sat down and tried to translate them! (There might be some spoilers for season 1 / especially the results of the first trial so do proceed with caution)

Muu

01 - “I’m Kusunoki Muu. Warden-san… it’s been a while, hasn’t it?”

02 - “Huh? That's a given, isn’t it? I haven’t done anything wrong, after all. But… I had faith that you’d understand me, warden-san. Thank you.”

03 - “It was really scary at the beginning, but now it’s nice and laid-back. And also… Haruka-kun is really nice! He’ll listen to anything I tell him.”

04 - “It seemed like we were just aimlessly talking(?), but things like that are unnecessary. It’s fine not to think about it. You saw it, right? I didn’t do anything wrong - right?”

05 - “I’ve been starting to think that maybe I’d like to stay here forever… The outside world only ever does bad things to me. Though, I’d be a bit sad that I wouldn’t get to see papa and mama again…”

Shidou

01 - “I’m Shidou Kirisaki. It’s been a while, Es-kun. A lot has happened while you were gone.”

02 - “You forgave me, huh. Even though I asked you not to forgive me… Why is that? I’d like to hear your thoughts.”

03 - “There have been conflicts between the prisoners, and some have been severely injured in the process. I don’t want to see lives being lost in vain. As someone who knows how to do surgeries, I have to do anything to help them.”

04 - “...I don’t understand. Why did you forgive me? It’s as I told you. I’ve taken many lives. You had a look at the song and the footage, didn’t you? [So] why?”

05 - “I said I didn’t want you to forgive me. But… it’s a fact that I could only save the other inmates because you forgave me. I think I’ll stop asking not to be forgiven. If I’m not alive, there is nobody to save their lives.”

Mahiru

01 - “Mahiru Shiina. It’s been a while, Es-kun. I missed you…”

02 - “You didn’t forgive me, huh… Does this mean that my love is a sin? Does this mean that my life has no meaning? Well, I already knew that though… ever since that day…”

03 - “[I got] these injuries while you [Es] were sleeping… I think it was Kotoko-chan, probably. If Shidou-san hadn’t helped me, I would’ve probably died. …It doesn’t hurt! Compared to the knowledge that you couldn’t forgive me… not at all…”

04 - “The whole time, I heard voices that were doubting and accusing me. I always believed that love could win over anything, but… it’s tough knowing that you’re not wanted, isn’t it? Haha…”

05 - “Spending my time at Milgram, I’ve really grown to love everyone here. I love you as well, Es-kun! But… me loving people can’t be forgiven, right…?”

Kazui

01 - “Morning. …Haha, you’re the type to space out after waking up, huh, warden-san? I’m Kazui Mukuhara. Remember me now?”

02 - “I was… forgiven by you, is that right? I feel somewhat conflicted about that… No, I wonder, maybe I’m just saying that out of concern for my own status.”

03 - “I myself haven’t really changed at all. Yuzuriha-chan ended up attacking some of the other inmates. I managed to protect Fuuta, but with Shiina-chan, I didn’t make it [in time]... [She (Kotoko) / I] did a terrible thing.” (T/N: Kazui uses no personal pronouns in the last sentence, so it’s unclear whether he’s condemning Kotoko’s actions or blaming himself for not being able to intervene fast enough)

04 - “I’m sure I’m just a very good liar. Ah, it’s alright, I’m sure you’ll uncover my lies next time. When that time comes, I’ll accept any thoughts and sentiments of yours with open arms.”

05 - “I don’t know what Milgram aims to do, but I will make sure to stop any fights to the best of my physical abilities. Ah, this isn’t me trying to give you a reason to forgive me, though.”

Amane

01 - “Amane Momose. Don’t let me down any more [than you already have].”

02 - “You chose not to forgive me, yes? If you don’t reevaluate your judgement, we will not be able to forgive you, either.”

03 - “Kirisaki Shidou… His actions go against our taboos [/rules]. I gave him a warning, but if he continues, I’ll have no choice but to take action myself. If you don’t want that to happen, you’ll have to stop me. You’ll be able to do that - right?”

04 - “Seriously… even though I had such high expectations of you. You’re anything but understanding.”

05 - “All of us… and all of Milgram couldn’t reach a compromise.(?) Milgram is an unjust world. However… we will forgive it for now. We’re kind, after all. Take your time to give it some thought.”

Mikoto

01 - “Ah, warden-kun… It’s been a while. …Ouch, my head hurts…”

02 - “So I wasn’t forgiven, huh? This is mean, seriously. I’ve been telling you [the whole time] that I haven’t done anything. I hate this…”(?)

03 - “Somehow, my whole body hurts… I feel worn out, and my memory is missing [/ foggy?] in places. Well… I’ve experienced that before every now and then, but I feel like it’s been getting more frequent.”

04 - “It’s just so much that I don’t understand. Honestly. Why do I have to face this kind of fate…? I can’t do this.”

05 - "Oi, warden brat. Don't make me (ore) deal with any more stress than this. If it's to protect me (boku), I (ore) will do anything." (T/N: he switches between pronouns here)

Kotoko

01 - “Good morning, Es. I’m Kotoko Yuzuriha, your fang.”

02 - “Heh. As expected, you wanted us to work together, huh? I’ll be answering to your resolve and your expectations. With all the strength I have.”

03 - “I gave the prisoners that you didn’t forgive what they deserved. Going along with Milgram’s system, I didn’t go all-out yet. I figured you’d need some more time to think about it too. …What’s with that face?”

04 - “I did tell you to follow your intuition and that I’d leave things to you, but you’re really going easy on them. I think I would’ve forgiven less people. Hmph, if only I was the warden [in this place]... Well, no ill feelings, I guess.”

05 - “I’ll hold still for now and wait for your next judgment. I’ll make my move after that. Don’t worry. I’m on your side. Together, let’s punish anyone who has committed unforgivable evil!”

Skipped a beat

Just my interpretation of what Mahiru was thinking during the latest timeline conversation! You can also read it here.

The dining room is quiet today, the only sound that can be heard being the occasional rattle of a wheelchair.

Mahiru is waiting quietly as per Yuno's request with a feeling of anticipation. Unfortunately, boredom easily succumbed, her thoughts of worry for Yuno and for the current events peeking in.

The voices have unexpectedly calmed down… Meaning that the days of guilt for always needing someone to escape from the prison of her mind are finally over. Recently, the voices are taking pity on her condition and seem to be encouraging… But Mahiru feels weird because of that. Sometimes, she hears words of love and admiration, complimenting her. But she doesn't like it, especially after discussing it with Yuno. It doesn't feel sincere like in those beautiful mangas she used to read. Not like in her past relation-.....

Better not think of that. After all, Yuno wanted to give her something. She doesn't know why… Is today a special event? It has been long since Mahiru has kept a hold of the days… It makes her upset to remember that she can't enjoy the activities she used to. Cooking, baking, cleaning, make-up…

She can only hope that Shidou's treatment will be fruitful. Her only hope to feel better again lies in his hands. But… It is scary. It's scary that she doesn't feel much better. Like her body is one with the pain. However, he promised her that, no matter what, she will be healed. Those words he said that day, made her heart flutter at that time. But doubt does really creep in… sometimes…

"Hei… Mahiru…"

Fuuta…? Was she so deep in thought that she couldn't hear him approaching…? She doesn't remember the last time they talked. She hasn't seen him having a conversation with other prisoners for a very long time. Small talks with Amane, but nothing more. He would go to his cell immediately after dinner or lunch. She has always wondered how he can subdue the voices, being in constant loneliness. Mahiru can't help but feel that the boredom has dispersed.

"Are you… doing alright? Isn’t there any way you can get better…?"

So gentle… is he really ok? She has noticed that Shidou stopped tending to his injuries as much as before, all his attention being on her, because he grew worried about not seeing visible changes. She feels guilty. Fuuta is also in pain, but because of her condition… She should really talk to Shidou about this. Wait…

What had Fuuta asked her..? If she can get better…?

Better… She wished she could smile happily at him and answer with a genuine cheerful voice that she does.

"What's wrong, Fuuta? Yeah, I'm not feeling great… But Shidou has been taking care of me all this time. I'm sure if I keep getting treatment like this, I'll get better…"

"Would she really get better? Poor Mahiru…"

The voices… It's unfortunate that they really ask a good question…

Mahiru slowly moved her head to take a better look at Fuuta. His face is so changed… his expression… Mahiru can't decipher. It has lost that fierceness, his gaze seemingly withered out, without energy. The guilt consumes her more.

"I see. Continue the treatment, huh… How can you truly be saved, I wonder?"

Her heart has skipped a bit. But… Why? Despite thinking of him as nothing more than a bully, somebody who could never understand how beautiful it is to care for somebody else, to give all yourself to them… He still came to her with all these injuries which cause him pain. To express his worries! And they seem sincere… So sweet… like a cake…

Simple words, but she feels better… A sudden wave of energy makes her forget about her hurting body.

"Saved…?? Are you worried about me?…That's nice of you, Fuuta. Just thinking that way… Mahiru feels saved already."

This time, she was honest. Her chest was warm as she carefully watched Fuuta's expression.

It's still the same. Lost and empty. Does Fuuta not believe her? He from a few months ago would have argued back and denied that he acts from kindness. She shamelessly admits that she misses these reactions from him…

"It's that so…? My words made you feel better? "

"Y-Yes!?"

"Perhaps my question has been answered already… "

"What… Fuuta have you said something?"

"No… It's nothing…"

Fuuta looked at her like he wanted to say something more. Mahiru was eagerly waiting. It felt like it was something important.

"Take care of yourself. I wish for you to get better soon…"

With that, Fuuta slowly moved away from the wheelchair, still seemingly lost in thought.

… Mahiru is not very good at reading people, but she could tell that this was not what Fuuta wanted to say. She sighed disappointed watching Fuuta's figure fading away.

"Mahiru!!~"

"Ah, Yuno!"

"Sorry to keep you waiting so much! But I wanted to add a few more things!!"

A strawberry shortcake was put on the table with visible care. There were many pink and red hearts drawn on the white frosting and a few ones cut from some strawberries. They were by far from perfect, but for Mahiru it didn't matter. Just the thought alone that Yuno spent time baking and decorating it, made her heart skip a beat for a second time.

"Happy birthday, Mahiru!!"

The day she had forgotten about…

"Ah… Mahiru, don't cry… Then your special day will not be happy anymore, won't it…?"

"These… These are tears of happiness! Thank you…! I don't know what else to say… I'm sorry, I'm not good with words…"

"You have nothing to apologize for… Please take a bite! Hope it's good!"

Mahiru has slowly calmed down, a sweet flavor invading her taste buds. Fuuta's words still lingered in her mind as she took another bite.

It was sweet…
