I haven’t posted on here in a bit, but I wanted to share some of the world building I’ve been doing. I apologize in advance for how horrible the formatting is.

“Magic”

Magic is the ability to channel and guide “Animus”, and more importantly, make it usable.

- basically making temporary “souls” to use

- Souls are created anywhere enough Animus has accumulated and compacted to form something of substance

- Souls don’t always become a singular consciousnesses or being

- Animus is everywhere all the time, and anything that exists has a soul (air, earth, fire, water, animals, plants, fungi and everything in between)

- Animus is a “driving energy”, it is what fuels existence

- It is attracted by ego and confidence, and is thus drawn to beings that have a lot of confidence, or that many others have confidence in

So, to use magic, magic users, or “Castors” need to be confident that the magic will do what the want, when they want. They direct it into the form of a soul they need, and use the effects of its form to do whatever they want

There are 5 official “classes” of magic, known as Channels

They are simply how a castor focuses their magic, in whatever way they believe works/will work well for them

Etchers

-draw magic circles

Scribes

-write magic words

Incantors

-speak magic words

Enchanters

-enchant items with magical properties

Direct castors

-don’t need any action to channel their magic

-requires an almost narcissistic level of self confidence
